Mabel Pines

Dipper Pines

  • Casanova Wannabe:
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: He briefly abandons his lookout duties to sing with Steven in Chapter 2. The boat crashes as a result.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: In Chapter 5, when Steven and Ford are Digging Themselves Deeper with Mabel and Connie, he wisely decides to just keep his mouth shut.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: Sadie tells him in Chapter 4 that they’ll be best friends as long as he keeps his distance.
Dipper: Awesome! I just broke the record for me making a new best friend!
Mabel: It’s true. His last one took him five minutes.

Ford Pines

     The Crystal Gems

Steven Universe

Jasper

  • Affectionate Nickname: Jasper refers to Steven as her “cub”.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: She was in love with Rose Quartz before the latter’s passing, according to a coded entry in Journal 3.
  • Feel No Pain: In the entry under Super-Toughness, she is struck by lightning multiple times and doesn’t poof, and says she’s got the highest pain tolerance of the gems – after the mission, her only issue is a severe case of static cling.
  • The Leader: To the Crystal Gems, after Rose’s passing.
  • Super-Toughness: When she goes to recover the Lightning Beetle, Jasper walks through a perpetual thunderstorm, being constantly hit by lightning. And it’s not due to any special power like Garnet's heat immunity – she explicitly just states that she has the highest pain tolerance.

Lapis Lazuli

  • Adaptational Nice Girl: Compared to her sort-of traumatized canon self, Lapis is far happier and more cheerful here.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: She has a crush on Peridot, according to Journal 3. The feeling isn’t mutual, as far as we know.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Lapis is just as strong as she is in canon – however, she almost never bothers to actually use her powers to their full extent, and hasn’t really trained them much in battle.
  • The Tease: To Peridot, who is embarrassed whenever it happens.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: As mentioned above, Lapis has never really trained her abilities that much for fighting.

Peridot:

  • Commonality Connection: She is friends with Ford due to their mutual love of science.
  • Fridge Logic: In-Universe – in Chapter 2, she asks Mabel where she got the 20 disposable cameras they brought to hunt the Gobblewonker.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: When it looks like Malachite accidentally killed Steven, she starts screaming at her, despite knowing how badly overpowered she is.

     Fusions

Amazonite:

Malachite:

  • Adaptational Heroism: Downplayed – she’s on the side of the heroes, but the first time she appears, she attacks the kids and (accidentally) almost kills Steven, which causes her to defuse.
  • Arranged Marriage: As it turns out, according to Journal 3, she was supposed to be this between Lapis and Jasper to better serve the Diamonds. Considering her first formations might have been at Homeworld's behest might explain her antagonism.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: When she thinks that she's accidentally killed Steven.

     Youth of Gravity Falls

Connie Maheswaren:

  • Adorkable: Whenever she’s talking to Steven and her crush is showing.
  • Genki Girl: Downplayed – she’s not as energetic as canon Mabel, but she’s extremely outgoing.
  • In-Series Nickname: Sunshine.

Pacifica Pleasure:

  • Adaptation Name Change: To match with her "changing places" with Gideon, her last name has Added Alliterative Appeal with her first.
  • Humiliation Conga: First Dipper breaks up with her, then soaked to the skin by Lapis, and finally, Dipper pushes her into a mud puddle as payback for hurting his friends.
  • Mind Manipulation: She had an amulet that she stole from the Crystal Gems that could do this, until Dipper took it away.
  • Psycho Ex-Girlfriend: To Dipper, given that her relationship with him was partially based off of her hypnotizing him to do what she wanted...

Lars:

Sadie:

Wendy Courdroy:

Ronaldo Fryman:

Jenny Pizza:

Buck Dewey:

Sour Cream:

  • All Love Is Unrequited: He's got a crush on Jenny Pizza, but Cannot Spit It Out. Subverted later on, when he does manage to say it, and she admits she was dating other guys to try and get his attention, and the two start dating.

     Adults of Gravity Falls

Sheriff Durland:

  • Adaptational Intelligence: Slightly this to his canon self – he was able to get the position of Sheriff instead of Blubs, and knewthat saying “dead or alive” in front of Ford, Priyanka, and Doug was a bad idea.
  • Police Are Useless: Just like canon Gravity Falls, but he’s slightly more reluctant about it here when Connie and Mabel are kidnapped.

Deputy Blubs:

Old Man Mcgucket:

  • The Woobie: Even more so than in canon - his son here hasn't visited him in years instead of months, and threatened him with a shotgun when he thought he was causing trouble (though it was never revealed if it was loaded).

Dr. Doug Maheswaren:

Priyanka Maheswaren:

  • Good Parents: To Connie, given that she’s far less controlling than Doug is.

     Main Antagonists

Yellow Diamond:

  • Establishing Character Moment: Her first appearance (dialogue-only) in Chapter 7 indicates that unlike the canon Yellow Diamond, who at least made some effort to be (or appear) reasonable, this Yellow Diamond is a complete Evil Overlord when she considers shattering someone for the Red Eye’s failure, and tells Bill flat out that she’d kill him if she could.
  • Psychopathic Womanchild: Minijenn’s tumblr, and what we’ve seen of her so far, indicate Yellow Diamond is this in spades.
  • You Have Failed Me: When the Red Eye is destroyed by the Crystal Gems,

Bill Cipher:

  • Smug Super: Bill is at least four-dimensional in nature, fully aware of his powers, and he’s not modest about any of it.
  • The Stoic: He says that he views anger as “an ugly emotion”, and is seemingly far more controlled than canon Bill.
