     Justin & Christina

The protagonist farmer of The Winds of Anthos, they started running a little farm in Lenctenbury and come across a message in a bottle, requesting help from the Harvest Goddess.

They always wanted to travel the world, but the wall surrounding Lenctenbury's one path to the outside kept them from doing so. After awakening Ver, they head off to help the other sprites and the Harvest Goddess.

  • Canon Name: Their default names are Justin for the male farmer and Christina for the female farmer.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Both of them have brown hair and brown eyes.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: They are willing to help every villager they meet with any need, quickly agree when Ver asks them to find the Harvest Goddess, and agree to improve the cultural level of all the towns without any hesitation. Doc Jr even says that 'sounds just like them'.
  • Overalls and Gingham: Averted with Justin, who wears a blue hoodie over his gingham shirt. Meanwhile, Christina wears a gingham blouse underneath her overall-esque dress.
  • Proper Tights With Skirt: Christina wears black tights underneath her denim dress.

Bachelors

    Neil

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_neil.png

Neil lives in Lenctenbury and runs a restaurant alongside his mother. He looks up to his father, who was trapped outside of the town when the walls appeared, and hopes to impress him with his own cooking.

  • Be Yourself: His events have him learning that, as a chef, it's OK for him to have own style; he shouldn't just try to emulate his dad.
  • Big Beautiful Man: He's the broadest, most heavyset bachelor, since he's a cook, and still as handsome as the other bachelors.
  • Big Eater: He considers eating good food one of the joys in life and likes eating, which was actually his original reason for learning to cook. He figured if he knew that, he could eat delicious food whenever he wanted.
  • First Guy Wins: Should the player marry him, as he's the first available bachelor.
  • Real Men Cook: He took to cooking since the walls went up, following his father's footsteps, who was the chef in his family's restaurant beforehand.
  • Supreme Chef: He aspires to be one, hoping to become as good as his father or even surpass him. His events revolve around cooking and having the farmer try his food.

    Westley

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_westley.png

Westley serves as the leader of the town of Providence, made up of people who were incapable of returning to their hometowns when the walls went up. He strives to be a good leader, despite his young age.

  • Big Brother Instinct: Downplayed. It's stated that, in the past, he used to be a lot more overprotective of Vivi and fretted constantly when she was off exploring. He's calmed down since then, however, and only worries a little bit when she's gone.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: In his six note event, only available after giving him a Token of Love, he tells the players that even if they go their separate ways, he's happy for them regardless and will always support them.
  • Last Guy Wins: Should the player marry him, as he's the last available bachelor because his events can't be unlocked until the Providence story has been completed.
  • Machiavelli Was Wrong: His personal events have him learning that his villagers fear him more than they like him, since he holds himself at such distance from them. He has to learn to open up to make them like him more.

     Kaimana

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_kaimana.png

Kaimana lived in a little shack near the walls of Lilikala because he was out fishing when the walls went up. He loves fishing and considers himself a master fishing tackle crafter.

  • The Cobbler's Children Have No Shoes: He's incredibly good at crafting fishing tackles, but as he notes in one of his events, he's actually not that good of a fisherman. He's much better at making the kit needed for the sport than he is at actually using it.
  • Handy Man: He singlehandedly rebuilds the Great Pier in Lilikala once the farmer gives him the materials for it.
  • Mellow Fellow: He's a laidback but also easily-enthusiastic type of guy, not letting anything get a rise out of him, and if an obstacle comes his way, he'll overcome it. Somehow, even if he doesn't know how right away.
  • Older Than They Look: He's been living on his own in the wilderness since the eruption ten years ago. This suggests he's in his late twenties to early thirties, if he was able to successfully live alone at the time the eruption happened.

    Arnold

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_arnold.png

Arnold lives in Herbstburg and frequently sneaks away from the work of rebuilding the town to play his violin. He's a rather serious guy and awkward around people, especially when it comes to playing for them rather than enjoying the melody himself.

  • All Work vs. All Play: A variant: Arnold loves playing music and wants to spend more time with it, but is afraid to because he thinks it makes him "lazy" and he believes he needs to devote as much time as possible to the reconstruction of Herbstburg. His events have him learning that it's OK for him to take time for himself, there's nothing wrong with enjoying his hobby, and his music still has value to the village because it still brings the people around him joy.
  • Elegant Classical Musician: He plays his violin often in secluded places, but it's an open secret in Herbstburg and the people quietly listened after a hard day's work of rebuilding the town.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: He's the youngest of three sons and a lot more serious and strict to adhere to rules and not goof off when there's work to be done, compared to his older brothers that are laidback. One of them even says that, given how they act, there was no way Arnold wouldn't turn out so serious.
  • Germanic Efficiency: He comes from the Austria-inspired Herbstburg and is a bit of a workaholic.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: He holds himself to very high standards as the future leader of Herbstburg and wears a very no-nonsense public face because of it. However, he's actually a fairly soft-hearted creative type who's afraid of putting himself out there in fear of seeming indolent.

    Nikolai

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_nikolai.png

Nikolai lives in Zimagrad and is an apothecary, studying various medicines and relatively knowledgable about the traditions of Zimagrad. He isn't the best at talking to other people or getting them to understand his train of thought, and has a strong sense of responsibility.

  • Curtains Match the Windows: His hair and eyes are both purple.
  • The Medic: He's the closest thing to a doctor in Zimagrad, having been a disciple of the previous doctor.
  • Shrinking Violet: Of the "literally purple" variety. He has difficulty opening up to people, especially since he tends to put his foot in his mouth when he does so.

     Jacques

Part of the Visitors From Afar DLC, Jacques becomes an available love interest after the post-game story is resolved. He's the secretary for the Verne Trading Company and therefore a close companion of Charlotte.

  • Empty Nest: Played with as his events proceed, where Jacques mentions that Charlotte has improved and become a more independent person, he's not sure what to do with all the freetime he has now.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He can be rather sharp-tongued with the Verne employees, and even Charlotte himself, but he's secretly a nice guy who only acts harsh to help stop others from feeling complacent.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: He wears a waistcoat and even a pocketwatch on a chain, keeping up his stern, but well-groomed appearance.
  • Stern Teacher: He can be rather brusque with Charlotte, telling her very directly what she needs to work on as a leader. However, as he explains in one of his events, this is because her other employees tend to kiss up to her, and he's trying to help counteract her yes-men. Given how much she trusts him, she seems to appreciate this approach.
  • Stoic Spectacles. He wears a monocole and overall keeps his emotions in check, remaining a rather serious and stern person.

Bachelorettes

     Judy

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_judy.png

Judy takes care of the animals on her family's ranch and animal store. She's an upbeat, carefree person that lets nothing get her spirits down.

  • Animal Lover: She adores the animals she takes care of, but this leads to her spoiling them. Her events revolve around showing love and care for the animals without going overboard.
  • Anti-Smother Love Talk: A gentle version: Her events have her learning that she shouldn't spoil her animals rotten; too many treats aren't good for them, and they can take care of themselves without her watching them all the time. Naturally, the correct options in those events involve the player gently informing her of this.
  • First Girl Wins: Should the player marry her, as she's the first available bachelorette.
  • Significant Green Eyed Red Head: The only redheaded-greeneyed love interest, making her stand out among their colorful variety.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: She wears her long hair in a ponytail to keep it out of the way while taking care of animals or riding horses.

     Vivi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_vivi.png

Vivi helps her brother Westley in running Providence village. She's adventurous and well-travelled across Anthos, giving her a strong constitution, but she still retains a degree of elegance.

  • Bold Explorer: She wants to explore every inch of Anthos, regardless of the danger it poses
  • Boyish Short Hair: Keeps her hair in a very short cut, but it doesn't detract from her elegant way of holding herself.
  • Last Girl Wins: Should the player marry her, as her events can't be seen until after the Providence story has been completed.

     Aolani

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_aolani.png

Aolani lives in Lilikala once the wall opens up a bit to let people into the flood-destroyed town. She's an excellent fisher and loves learning about and eating fish.

  • Curtains Match the Windows: Her hair and eyes are both a deep blue.
  • Meaningful Appearance: She wears a fish-shaped hairclip and her skirt folds in ways that evokes the image of a mermaid's tail. She also wears a jacket tied in the back to look like the tailfin of a fish.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Loves fishing and is involved in the reconstruction of the village, but dresses in one of the most feminine ways among the bachelorettes.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Fish, as fits a fisherwoman. In fact, she loves talking about what makes fish delicious, and one of her events is her explaining the subtleties of fish flavoring to the player.

     Ella

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_ella.png

Ella lives with her grandmother in Herbstburg and loves to paint. She's a carefree and optimistic type of person with a soft spot for music because of her mother's history with instruments.

  • Fashionable Asymmetry: She wears a thigh-high white stocking on her right leg, while she wears a full-length black legging on her left leg.
  • Meaningful Appearance: She uses what looks like a paint palette to keep her hair tied up and her skirt looks like a paintbrush went over it and onto her leg, making her look like a loud and vibrant artist.
  • Raised by Grandparents: She lives with her grandma and has for many years, and is very devoted to her.

     Lina

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_lina.png

Lina lives in Zimagrad with her crafter father, though what they craft differs as she focuses on furniture and he sews clothes. She's cute and a helpful person that has a strong sense of caring for other people.

  • Cool Big Sis: Her instinct to care for anyone she meets leads to her often being the older sister type of person to them.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Keeps her hair in two pigtails that are twisted into spirals.
  • Irony: She chastises the player for walking around the freezing Zimagrad without appropriate clothing, despite her own design having her walk around with shorts and exposed legs in the cold.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: Downplayed with her and her father: Her dad has an occupation commonly regarded as feminine, being a clothing designer as opposed to just a tailor (though he does also serve as Zimagrad's tailor). Meanwhile, Lina has the more traditionally masculine occupation of being a carpenter, with a focus on furniture.

     Charlotte

Part of the Visitors From Afar DLC, she becomes an avaible love interest upon completing the post-game story it adds. She's the envoy of the Verne Trading Company and leader of the Verne village built in the desert.

  • First Friend: Her events revolve around her learning about friendship and how to differentiate between a 'friend' and a 'customer', as she tends to be overly focused on doing things for customers akin to helping friends.
  • Honest Corporate Executive: Next in line for the head of the Verne Trading Company, a position she takes very seriously. She insists on giving the player fair compensation for everything they help with, and generally tries to structure her deals such that everyone benefits equally.
  • Sheltered Aristocrat: She's spent so much of her life as part of her father's company, she doesn't really understand things like how friendship works, and can only think of the player as "an especially important customer" at first.
  • Steampunk: Her attire evokes this image with its rust colors, and she wears two gears as part of a hairclip.

Harvest Spites & Harvest Goddess

     Harvest Sprites

Ver

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_ver.png

The sprite of Lenctenbury and representative of Spring.

  • Ambiguous Gender: They have short hair, which could be interpreted as masculine, but it's pink and full of flowers. The Doc Pad refers to them as male, but as with all the Harvest Sprites, the Goddess herself uses a gender-neutral "they."
  • Meaningful Name: Ver is Latin for "Spring," and they're the sprite with a very spring-like appearance, and his sprite clothes are mostly green.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Turnip Stew.

Aestas

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_aestas.png

The sprite of Lilikala and represenative of Summer.

  • Ambiguous Gender: They have long blue hair and long eyelashes, which could be interpreted as feminine, but their eyelashes are shorter than the obviously feminine Hiems, giving them a potential Long-Haired Pretty Boy appearance. The Doc Pad refers to them as female, but as with all the Harvest Sprites, the Goddess herself uses a gender-neutral "they," including during events when speaking about Aestas directly.
  • Meaningful Name: Aestas is Latin for 'Summer', and they're the sprite of a very summery beach town called Lilikala.

Autumnus

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_autumnus.png

The sprite of Herbstburg and representative of Autumn.

  • Ambiguous Gender: Even moreso than the other Sprites! Their Doc Pad entry doesn't use any gendered pronouns and they have a genericly long-haired hairstyle that could appear either feminine or masculine.
  • Meaningful Name: Autumnus is Latin for 'autumn'. They live in Herbstburg, a town with a perpetually autumn appearance.
  • Mellow Fellow: The most laid-back of the sprites, who only gets worked up when they're dancing.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Walnuts.

Hiems

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hm_anthos_hiems.png

The sprite of Zimagrad and representative of Winter.

  • Girlish Pigtails: She has a very girly hairstyle to go along with her extra girly long eyelashes, making her the only Sprite whose appearance strongly favors a particular gender.
  • Meaningful Name: Hiems is Latin for 'winter', and they live in the cold region of Zimagrad.
  • Uniformity Exception: They're the only Harvest Sprite who wears a different outfit from the others, with a sweater over their leafy Harvest Sprite tunic. She's also the only Harvest Sprite with a strongly gendered appearance, looking more feminine than even Aestas.
