    Mayumi Nagamine
    Inspector Tsutomu Osako

Kusanagi Family

    Asagi Kusanagi
    Naoya Kusanagi
     Ayako Kusanagi (nee Melchiorri)
  • Canon Foreigner: Ayako was specifically created for the series.
  • Shout-Out: Her name is a reference to Ayako Fujitani, the actress who played Asagi Kusanagi in the Gamera trilogy.

Japanese Government

    Masaaki Saito
    Mito Asakura
  • Adaptational Heroism: She teams up with Gamera and his allies in this universe's version of Gamera 2000.
  • Affably Evil: On one hand, she's a well-respected government official. On the other hand, the lengths she's willing to go to achieve her goals are pretty immoral. But she clearly has a heart deep down. Plus, she also never harbors any ill will towards Asagi, Ryuji, and Tatsunari.
  • Broken Pedestal:
  • Heel–Face Turn: She becomes much nicer after Asagi and her friends forgive her. She even joins the heroes' side in this universe's version of Gamera: 2000, and has since become a prominent ally.
  • Mythology Gag: She encounters the Aquatic Gyaos like in Gamera Gaiden Ver.2.5, Weekly Shōnen Champion, Vol. 1999 14th and 15th.
  • Official Couple: With Emiko
  • Rebuilt Pedestal: Ryuji's respect for Mito is repaired when Mito eventually apologizes to both him and Megumi for her actions. Later on, she would go on to assist Gamera and his allies along with the JSDF and the United Nations in battling the Bio-Mecha.
  • Villainous Friendship:
    Shinya Kurata

Eustace Foundation

    In general
    Kosugi Kurosawa
The founder, CEO and chairman of the Eustace Foundation
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After being released from prison for good behavior, Kosugi reconciles with his ex-fiancee Aiko and marries her, allowing him to finally live a happy life with his family.
  • Unwitting Pawn: During the "Summer of Kaiju" story arc, he is manipulated by Viras into bringing Boco and his friends into false safety so that Viras can use the kids as bait to lure Gamera straight to him and get revenge on the turtle monster.
    James Tazaki
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: This version of Tazaki drops his Child Hater traits and is pretty good with children. If anything, he once took Ryuji out for a fishing trip when he was young.
  • Nice Guy: James is a very decent and pleasant person at heart.
    Emiko Melchiorri
  • Adaptational Heroism: While still working for the Eustace Foundation, she keeps her kind personality, and is clearly a good person, and she does have a desire to keep the kids safe, a far cry from the deceptive woman she was in the original GAMERA -Rebirth- anime. Other than that, she doesn't even plan to bring the kids to Viras to have them be killed by him, and she doesn't even plan on pulling a The Star Scream on her aunt.
  • Adaptational Personality Change:
  • Nice Girl: One of the easiest people to get along with.
  • Official Couple: With Mito.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Emiko is the aunt of Asagi and Ryuji Kusanagi; her older sister Ayako was married to their father, Naoya Kusanagi before dying of a disease.
    Nora Melchiorri
  • Adaptational Heroism: Nora doesn't murder her sister to assume power and secure her position in the Melchiorri family. Due to the events of GAMERA -Rebirth- occurring differently, she doesn't plan to reinstate Hemueden's plans for the world and try to cull over 99% of the human population, leading to the events of her demise. Instead she works with her niece, choosing her to become the chosen heir while playing a role in providing the United Nations with useful information on the world's kaiju.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: Nora in GAMERA -Rebirth- was a Smug Snake. Here, she's wise and well-meaning.
  • Nice Girl:
  • Older and Wiser: Being the eldest of the Melchiorri family pays off on her experience, knowledge, and good judgment.
     Dr. Greta Karbone
  • Adaptational Heroism: This version of Karbone is portrayed as a polite, kind and hard-working scientist who aids the heroes.
  • Adaptational Job Change: In the comics, Dr. Karbone was a biologist who worked alone. Here, she's a researcher and scientist of the Eustace Foundation who's also affiliated with the United Nations.
  • Adaptational Nice Girl: Greta's dementia has toned down quite a lot, and she doesn't act cold towards Gusano.
  • Nice Girl: Due to being given a case of Adaptational Nice Girl, she is this. Despite being concerned about her work, Greta does care about her colleagues and her superiors. Aside from that, she is shown to be a consistently polite and kind woman.
  • No Celebrities Are Harmed:

People involved in the "Summer of Kaiju"

     Hiroki Wada/Boko
     Satoru Matsuda/Joe
     Jun Ichihara/Junichi
     Douglas Ken Osborn/Brody
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Douglas is way much friendlier and nicer compared to his original counterpart.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In the original GAMERA -Rebirth- anime, Douglas ran into Hiroki, Satoru, and Jun and stole the cash that they have saved, but later bonds with them overtime. In this universe's version of -Rebirth- , he is good friends with them.
  • Big Brother Instinct: To a lesser extent than Satoru. While Douglas does care for Hiroki and the others, he isn't much as overprotective as him.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Even though Douglas can be a bit brash, sarcastic, and intimidating, he's actually very kind and dependable.

Nara High School

    Professor Ishiro Ishikawa
The father of Megumi Ishikawa and a close friend of Ryuji; the two met when Ryuji offered to aid him in his investigation of the discovery of a mysterious giant bird (although it ultimately turned out to be Gyaos).
  • The Ace: Professor Ishikawa is known to be a successful researcher and professor. It's no wonder why everyone mentions him every chance they get.
  • Canon Character All Along: He's this series' universe's version of Professor Hirata, the missing college professor from the first Heisei Gamera film.
  • Good Parents:
  • Nice Guy: There's a good reason why he's so well beloved amongst his students.
  • Virtuous Character Copy: Ishiro is a light parallel to Xu Wenwu. Both are the fathers of a hero character, Megumi for Ishiro, and Shang-Chi for Wenwu. Likewise, both have had interactions with the hero character's friend. However, while Wenwu was a ruthless warlord, Ishiro is a kind, caring, and successful scientist and teacher who is openly warm-hearted to everyone else.
    Tomomi, Sanae, and Natsuko
  • Everyone Has Standards: Tomomi was taken aback when Ryuji and Tatsunari harshly call her out for making Megumi go into the Ryuseicho's shrine.
  • Jerkass: Tomomi, who constantly harrasses Ayana, Satoru, and Megumi every chance she gets.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: Natsuko is the Nice, Sanae is the In Between, and Tomomi is the Mean.

Nara Big Five

    General
Consisting of Ryuji, Tatsunari, Megumi, Ayana, and Kenichi.

  • Genius Bruiser: Ryuji may be the smartest of the group, but it's to forget that he's also the strongest and toughest out of all of his friends.
  • Tom Boy And Girly Girl: Smart, sassy Ayana is the Tomboy, while sweet, kind and loving Megumi is the Girly Girl.

    Ryuji Kusanagi

Asagi's older brother
The son of Naoya Kusanagi and the late Ayako Kusanagi, as well as Asagi's older brother. Due to an accidental encounter with a Gyaos when he was 12, Ryuji eventually chose to self-isolate himself from his family.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Hoo boy, does Ryuji ever get hit hard with this. As a youngster, he and Asagi were attacked by a Gyaos, leading to Ryuji isolating himself from his family.
  • Adaptational Badass: Ryuji was more of a Non-Action Guy in the fan project where he originated from. But in this series' continuity, he is able to effortlessly perform numerous types of martial arts, wield different kinds of weapons with effective proficiency, and incapacitate multiple adversaries with little problem.
  • Adaptational Heroism / Adaptational Nice Guy: Ryuji is more heroic and nicer in this series than his villainous original counterpart.
  • Badass Bookworm:
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: It's Tatsunari's kindness that causes him to lighten up a bit. And upon meeting Megumi and getting to know her, he lightens up even more.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Ryuji may be a friendly and big-hearted person with a cold outward appearance but do NOT get on his bad side... or else.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Toward Asagi. Even if their relationship was a bit strained after he left her with their father, Ryuji cares for her a lot.
  • Big Eater: Ryuji absolutely loves eating, whether it's sushi, ramen, curry, pasta, or wagashi.
  • Broken Pedestal: Ryuji, who had grown to respect and even trust Ms. Asakura to a degree, was understandably enraged when the latter abducts his girlfriend. Thankfully, the respect between the two has recovered.
  • Canon Immigrant: Ryuji originated from AVGK04's Gamera: Cradle of Eternity.
  • Expy He shares a few characteristics with Gladion, specifically his anime counterpart. Both are protective of their siblings, both left their families for a certain reason, and both have similar personalities. However, Ryuji is nowhere near as much an Aloof Big Brother as Gladion is. He is also this to the MCU version of Shang-Chi. As mentioned before, both left their families for certain reasons.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: When Ryuji was 12 years old, he and Asagi were attacked by a Gyaos that they encountered near a forest. Despite managing to drive off the Gyaos, Asagi was more terrified at Ryuji's aggression than the Gyaos, causing Ryuji to realize he was too aggressive and feared that Asagi will likely be too afraid to go near him. So he made the decision of leaving her and Naoya in the hopes he would avoid reminding her of the Gyaos incident.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Ryuji may be aloof and a bit of an edgy loner, but he cares for his friends and family.
  • Nice Guy: Eventually becomes this.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: He and Tatsunari are very close to each other to the point where they're like siblings to each other.
  • Sweet Tooth: Ryuji apparently has a fondness for sweets, especially his favorite, dango. However, he does prefer to keep his limits.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Throughout his time in Nara Prefecture, Ryuji has softened up quite a lot and has become way much nicer than he was before when he first began his high school year.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Dango, but he also enjoys eating other Japanese sweets such as mochi, taiyaki, and dorayaki.
  • Trauma Button: He has this in the form of the very creature that attacked him and Asagi: Gyaos.

    Tatsunari Moribe

    Megumi Ishikawa

Ryuji's girlfriend

    Ayana Hirasaka
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Starts to regret her bond with Iris near the end of the film after watching the death and destruction Irys brought.
  • The Corrupter: It's Ayana's hatred and anger that corrupted Iris into the monster he's become.
  • Nice Girl: Becomes this in the alternate timeline.
  • The Quiet One: Due to her trauma she's quiet and reserved.
  • Weirdness Magnet: Not only involves herself with Irys, but Gamera and the Gyaos, too.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: She lost her parents during the battle between Gamera and the first Super Gyaos, her adopted family openly talks bad about her, she and the one part of her foster family she cares about are bullied by the neighborhood. Yeah, she's directly responsible for Iris (and perhaps directly responsible for what he became), but the poor girl's been through hell.
