    General Changes to the Protagonists

  • Age Lift: The fic will be Explicit Rated as opposed to T Rated which it was originally, and every major character has been given a second Age Lift adding an additional 2 years to where they were already lifted up. For example, Jeri and Takato were 16 in the original Digimon Re: Tamers, but now they're both 18 here.
  • Adaptational Wimp:
    • Impmon will not already have been Mega Level before the start of the story. Instead, he starts off as a Baby Level Digimon who had only just recently hatched in a DigiEgg that Realized in Jeri's bedroom just as her Digivice toy was converted into a real D-Ark Digivice. However, that's about the sole extent of the Adaptational Wimp status for Impmon, as everything else applying to him in this fic is a massive case of Adaptational Badass.
    • Guilmon, Terriermon, and Renamon could all achieve Ultimate Level on their own in the beginning of the original fic. Now they're mostly capable of Champion Level with it being more of a struggle for any of them to achieve Ultimate, although like before, the Blue Card and Calumon have nothing to do with this.
    • Cyberdramon could actually go Mega Level into Millenniummon in the original; here he's actually recovering from a major event that implies he's responsible for having initiated a Cosmic Retcon that lead to the creation of this timeline, and thus is so far De-Digivolved to Strikedramon and low on energy.
  • Adaptational Late Appearance:
    • Grandis doesn't show up in-person until later, but he's still presented at the original entry via being demoted to the Voice with an Internet Connection for a while.
    • Much of the prologue takes place over the span of three real world days in which Jeri is adapting to being a Digimon Tamer, with Keemon being a newborn and thus not even Impmon just yet. As a result, even though Takato, Henry, and Rika still show up during this period, their Digimon are completely absent aside from a few implied fights going on off-screen. It isn't until Keemon, as Yarmon, becomes Impmon in which Jeri decides to take him outside more often to try and fight other Digimon that have been Realizing out of the blue for training.
  • Adapted Out: Inverted with Ai and Mako, who are present in tis fic in the form of two young children Jeri is tasked with babysitting for an allowance from her father. In the original fic, they didn't appear because the author didn't feel comfortable keeping them in the fic with Besiege at the time, especially when it was clear he had no idea what to do with these two at that point in time.

Jeri Katou and Impmon

  • The Leader: Henry doesn't like the idea of Jeri being in charge of the paired unit she's put in with Takato, but considering Takato's shyness around her, he sees Jeri's more clearer thought process around him to be more capable of making decisions regardless of who is present.

Impmon

  • Composite Character: His custom made Champion and Ultimate Level forms are designed as an Expy of the Devimon, Leomon, and Meramon species Digimon, and has traits associated with all three. Both can ignite their heads and fur like Meramon can, both have a leonine King of Beasts aesthetic like Leomon, and both are demonic Digimon akin to Devimon and also subsequently are prior forms of a Demon Lord Digimon.
  • Expy:
    • In regards to designs, abilities, and overall capabilities, Vungareimon and Barbarymon are this to no less than three different reoccurring Digimon species in the franchise. Devimon, which serves as the Foreshadowing of Impmon's connection to a Demon Lord final form. Leomon, from which Jeri's partner in canon was, and the fact Impmon being made Jeri's partner in the AU caused the author to model the two designs with leonine features to acknowledge Jeri's canon partner. Lastly, Meramon, from which one of the D-ARK Virtual Pets confirm is the canonical Champion Level form of Impmon from Tamers, with SkullMeramon likewise being the canon Ultimate Level. In regards to the Ultimate Level Barbarymon, NeoDevimon and GrapLeomon were used as further reference, with Barbarymon effectively recreating their respective cybernetics induced abilities with an organic counterpart.
    • Vungareimon and Barbarymon are also a reference to the Cat Zodiac, referencing the implied role Impmon in canon had in regards to the Deva, and also giving MF217 even more of a reason to give the two designs leonine visual aesthetics. Not only that, but they are both classified as "Fallen Holy Beast" Type Digimon, which directly implies a former connection to the Deva prior to turning rogue and ultimately paving way to becoming a Demon Lord Digimon like Beelzemon.
  • Sailor Earth: He has custom made Champion and Ultimate Level forms designed by MF217 himself to use for this incarnation of Impmon, as while Meramon and SkullMeramon were implied to be his canonical forms, they didn't show up as such in the anime. The Champion Level is known as Vungareimon, and the Ultimate Level known as Barbarymon.

Ryo Akiyama and Cyberdramon

  • Ascended Fridge Horror: A possible interpretation of Ryo's armor was to defend himself in case Cyberdramon ever lashed out at him as opposed to just anyone else instead. It's flat out confirmed here that his armor is indeed used to help him power through and keep Cyberdramon under control.
  • Canon Character All Along: He and Cyberdramon are the exact same incarnations of the two already shown in the original fic and then some. How this happened was the result of what ultimately took place between Digimon Re: Tamers and Digimon Re: Tamers 7D6, which reveals that both actually are still canon, but an apocalyptic event took place in the former that paved way to the world that exists in the latter. When Millenniummon had attempted to override Grandis' death by rewritting reality so that Grandis' death at the hands of Brondramon were only from the perspective of a simulation at Hypnos, Millenniummon had unwittingly severely damaged the integrity of the entirety of the universe and the barrier between the Digital World and Real World, as well as his raw power being unleashed to perform this act now taking a separate shape in the form of a daydreaming Digicore. A Digicore which becomes Dorugoramon, and promptly lays waste to everything in the old world leading to Millenniummon having to recreate the world from scratch with him and Ryo being the sole survivors. Grandis survived as well, but this was both because of Millenniummon's previous meddling and also Grandis regaining more than enough strength to learn of Dorugoramon in advance and flee with the fully repaired Grandis Armor, which is the entire reason he locked down the school so he could repair it in time to escape into another universe temporarily. As a final nail in the coffin to all of this, Ryo and Cyberdramon are now severely mentally scarred by this experience, with Ryo having to live with the guilt that he couldn't outright prevent anyone from dying in the old world, with him feeling like he's taking advantage of an alternate Ruki who is more openly smitten for him due to them both being Older and Wiser than they already were. Ryo apparently did tell Ruki the truth at one point, otherwise he told himself if Ruki wanted to have sex with him than she'd have to know what the hell he'd been through before he could ever allow himself to consent to her advances.
  • Foreshadowing: The amount of DP he has, as before, foreshadows his ability to Digivolve into Mega Level whenever he actually felt like doing so. However, also like before, it's noted that Cyberdramon is holding back and lashes out to anyone who gets too close that isn't Ryo.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Millenniummon struck down the D-Reaper and the Legendary Light Dragons and fully Loaded all four of them into itself, even ensuring the D-Reaper can't hijack him by effectively atomizing it before Loading it's now raw data that no longer have anything going for them other than being pure energy.

    General Changes to the Antagonists

The Wild Ones

  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • Wild Ones are actually a threat that have been infiltrating the real world all over the place for years now, and Hypnos was formed to eliminate them because of just how rampant their threat actually is; instead of just a single Digimon or so per day easily taken out by the main three, they're everywhere, meaning there is no such thing as a shortage of Digimon Tamers to combat these Wild Ones.
    • An Ultimate Level appears ahead of the Deva, in the form of BlueMeramon. Unlike the Deva, who didn't show up until Shaggai was first deployed, BlueMeramon had already Realized as a normal Meramon beforehand only to be captured by Hypnos and experimented on, leading to Meramon blowing the joint and Digivolving into BlueMeramon.
    • The MetalTyrannomon from the opening of the first episode appears for a tad bit longer, seen attempting to break through the barrier alongside Calumon but is forcefully repelled because the barrier at this rate keeps most Ultimate Level Digimon from breaching through. Armor Level Digimon, such as the Maildramon he had just slain, would've easily been able to get through just fine. Turns out MetalTyrannomon was trying to prevent a traitorous Digimon from escaping, knowing that Maildramon would've managed to get through had he not stopped him first, and his Digivolution into MetalTyrannomon allows him to confirm a suspicion the Deva have on the border between the Real World and Digital World.
  • Adaptational Abomination: Wild Ones are actually Digital Lifeforms that have taken Digimon form as a means of disguising themselves in plain sight. When defeated, they disintegrate into data from which a Digimon is to load or else the data will eventually reform into a new Wild One elsewhere, ready to continue being a menace once more. So far all of the Digimon who show up in the fic which are actually genuine Digimon are the ones partnered with the protagonists. All of the other Rookie, Champion, or Armor Digimon who appear in this fic for the first good while? All of them are among the Wild One entities, and are not actual Digimon despite their perfect replication of them. The first actual Digimon adversary comes in the form of an Ultimate Level Digimon of currently undetermined affiliation. The Wild Ones, meanwhile, only function off of the ideology of what the predecessors to Digimon were intended to function with the "Survival of the Fittest" motive in mind. Not only that, but it is possible that the Wild Ones are in fact the very same creatures that are noted as the predecessors to Digimon.
  • Adapted Out:
    • Inverted: As the Monster of the Week format that canon Tamers used was not utilized in the original Digimon Re: Tamers, it is brought back in full swing here with the revamped versions of the Wild Ones, Digimon which have Realized in the human world and are a threat to society.
    • Apparently the D-Reaper is a non-entity here, with Mecha Rogue from Digimon World 4 taking its place as the resident Digital Lifeform based antagonist.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The Wild Ones and the PSAs by Hypnos are treated as though they're wild animals that pose a threat to humans just by existing and are at such a state of co-existence with them that they're basically treated as mundane until a major situation happens which gets humans in a panicky situation. Are we talking about invading Digimon or are we talking about mankind's numerous close encounters with wildlife in their given region all throughout the world's history?
  • Mythology Gag: It is highly possible these Digimon exist because of Mephistomon, due to them in turn being the scattered fragments of his original Apocalymon form. Digimon matching the general description as depicted here with the Wild Ones were actually Mephistomon's soldiers in his debut appearance, and they were noted to be not normal despite looking identical and functioning identical to other Digimon.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: The MetalTyrannomon from the first scene of the first episode has a significantly expanded role. He engaged Maildramon knowing full well that Maildramon was a traitor or deserter of some kind and also knowing an Armor Digimon like her would've had no issue with Realizing. Engaging in a fight against Maildramon and Digivolving into MetalTyrannomon in the process, MetalTyrannomon finds he can't pass through and Realize because he's too powerful for the barrier to let him through, leading to him reporting back to the Deva to let them know that this would heavily impede their actions to reclaim Calumon and makes a point to employ scouts with various Champion or Armor Level Digimon just so that they can a better understanding of the enemy Hypnos has made themselves out to be to them.

Hypnos

  • Ascended Extra: They were only ever implied to exist in the original fic. Here they're back in business due to the Wild Ones being brought back.
  • The Unmasqued World: Because of just how infective the Wild Ones invaded the real world all at once, they have become a public name of peacekeepers who intend to eradicate the Wild Ones before they can spread. They also help inform the public as to how to keep themselves safe from the Wild Ones by means of methods to avoid provoking them into attack and what to do if one gets too close to human occupied areas.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: They were formed to eradicate the Wild Ones during their invasion of the real world, although they don't realize that they're not entirely focused on them as they are Digimon as a whole. This is because at first nobody is aware there's even an actual difference going on between them.

The Yakuza

  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • The backstory of Enric's mafia turns out to be that he was his own individual among a group of Yakuza who he had saw himself to the United States with the intent of exploiting the foreign exchange rate to get rich quick. Unfortunately, his criminal record of his trigger happy murdering tendencies began to cave in on him, leading to him fleeing the country back to Japan where he and his newfound crew from the States intend to reunite with their leader's original group.
    • Yet again their overall existence is this when you consider that apparently Jeri's father was going to be a part of them, but it was cut from the story overall. The fic reimplements the concept to keep it brief, though.
  • Adapted Out: Jeri's Father has no direct involvement with Enric's side of the yakuza this time, but he's still part of the yakuza nonetheless.
  • The Mafia: The Northwestern American side of the faction were former members of the United States mafia until their criminal record escalated to the point they had to flee the country, deciding on settling scores in Japan with a prior rival they had separated from originally.
  • Yakuza: The original faction from which Enric had served, and apparently where Besiege was just a young teen when he was a member here prior to seeking out Enric's leadership in America for a while. Besiege was able to negotiate a deal with the Yakuza to allow him and Enric back into their group, but unfortunately things are kind of strained now that Enric is back in the same country as his own son.

Alice McCoy

  • Ascended Extra:
    • Implied. Without the D-Reaper or Cobaldramon leaving Shinjuku an utter wreck like in the original fic, there's no reason for her appearance in the premises of the school as a specter to not be possible as readily as the author had wanted to otherwise include her.
  • Hellhound: Dobermon. Increasingly so as Ultimate Level and Mega Level, in the form of Cerberumon and Anubimon respectively.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: Alice is what appears on the radars of Hypnos, but tracking Dobermon is not possible for them. They think, however, that the entire time they're tracking Alice, that they're tracking a Digimon of comparable strength to Dobermon.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Dobermon lives, considering he's already sort of a ghost himself this time. Not only that, but he also achieves Ultimate Level and Mega Level, as his canonical forms of Cerberumon and Anubimon.

Mecha Rogue X

  • Adaptation Expansion: Quite an Understatement considering Mecha Rogue was originally a one-note villain who didn't have much of the inner workings of his backstory explained at all.
    • Mecha Rogue X, in this instance, is the living prototype of the Black Digizoid metals used to eventually create Craniamon, and as Mecha Rogue X was effectively a fully fledged suit of armor which would later serve as the template wholesale for Craniamon, it eventually gained a mind of it's own through a mysterious means and became a hostile force to be reckoned with.
    • Mecha Rogue's prior forms encountered all throughout Digimon World 4 are given Levels based off of the forms seen in the game and in the increasing strength they're shown to have. They're also given nicknames to help distinguish them from each other.
      Mecha Rogue 01 "Stingray": Baby
      Mecha Rogue 02 "Scorpion": In-Training
      Mecha Rogue 03 "Hornhound": Rookie
      Mecha Rogue 04 "Xenoman": Champion
      Mecha Rogue 05 "Kentauros": Ultimate
Mecha Rogue X "The Black Prototype": Mega
Mecha Rogue X-2 "X-Program Replicator": Mega
Mecha Rogue X-3 "The Draconian Starship": Ultra
  • Adapted Out: Out with the D-Reaper, in with Mecha Rogue X.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: Indramon, Mephistomon, BelialMyotismon, Crusadermon, Lucemon, and Mecha Rogue X are all on the same side.
  • Canon Foreigner: It originates from Digimon World 4, and it has no anime or manga representation whatsoever. In fact, it's sole appearance is literally the game it first appeared in and nowhere else.
  • Character Tics: It has a tendency to zone out and stare at targets of interest for extended periods of time, often going out of it's way to appear near them at inactive hours just to stalk them simply to... stare...
  • Refuge in Audacity: Apparently he wants to display Lady Raiga's head on a pike if he ever manages to kill her personally. And then charge anyone who wants to see her slain head exactly $19.95 per customer to view her severed head, knowing full well of how notorious of a Hate Sink Raiga is as to try and profit off of her possible death.

Indramon

  • The Bully: His backstory with Impmon, and heck a lot of Digimon in general, is that Indramon's rise to become one of the Deva was the result of Indramon being an absolutely brutal, tenacious fighter who relished in kicking his opponent while they're down to ensure he'll load their data in the end with minimal resistance, and also without having to resort to wasting the energy of his signature weapon.

Mephistomon

  • Came Back Wrong: As one of the most powerful Digimon of his kind as an Ultra Level Apocalymon, but he got reborn into a body with only "average strength" at best, as he puts it. Still makes him a more formidable foe when partnered with Indramon, since Mephistomon's bloodlust can cause him to lose control and go into Gulfmon and be completely incapable of mental function.

BelialMyotismon

  • Adaptational Badass: Compared to his counterpart in Diary of an Analog, he's intended to be a much bigger powerhouse both literally and metaphorically. He doesn't use the Lotus-Eater Machine trick, however, but that's because he's quickly realized Lucemon can forcefully cause it to affect BelialMyotismon as well, forcing BelialMyotismon into such a raging fit that he can actually overpower Lucemon with brute force alone.

LordKnightmon

Lucemon

  • Olympus Mons: A deadly Rookie Level Angel Digimon with such unmatched power that even those higher in Digivolution will obey it's command because they fear it's wrath, knowing that even in spite of being a Rookie, Lucemon is a force to not be meddled with lightly.
  • The Runt at the End: Despite his subordinates being at least two Digivolution levels higher than he is, he's able to boss them around even though he's only classified as a Rookie in his most mentally stable of forms.

Lady Raiga

  • Beware the Superman: Lady Raiga is Judge, Jury, and Executioner, and doesn't have any of the qualities that billed her as a protagonist the previous times. If anything, she's more like the Omnimon that appeared in X-Evolution pre-Character Development.
  • Forever War: Has so far spanned 20 years between the Digital World and Human World. So far it appears the Human World tends to have the most victories under their belt, not that Raiga really cares considering while she's equally loathing of humanity as a whole, she doesn't directly address them because of the fact they're the ones ultimately responsible for how she managed to acquire the power to pull her successful coup in the first place. And if they actually possessed sufficient firepower to do so, if Raiga does too much to enforce the status quo too brutally, the humans have learned of a "Get Out of Jail Free" Card in the form of BaoHackmon who is fully aware of a crucial weakness of Raiga's.
  • Hope Crusher: She allows BaoHackmon the ability to survive in the Human World not just because she finds his struggles amusing, but she also is fully aware that BaoHackmon could very likely be her very undoing, even if she herself isn't entirely aware of how and why this is the case. Raiga's own incredible hubris, however, prevents her from seeing the big picture as to the multitude of ways BaoHackmon could possibly screw her over.
  • Judge, Jury, and Executioner: A position she already had when charging criminals when she was still part of the Old Royal Knights, but once she decided to indulge in her growing ego, she slaughtered her own pantheon and decided to become an even worse example of this now that nobody was able to challenge her for leadership anytime soon.
  • The Neidermeyer: An absolutely hellish general regardless of whether this refers to her before or after slaughtering the Old Royal Knights, this is the one aspect about her that has been consistent between the numerous eons of her existence. Her own troops hate her, and with a few exceptions of those who are stupidly loyal, any sane individual among her army only serves her out of fear of her immeasurable power. They know Raiga is more than powerful enough to end the war as quickly and efficiently as possible all by herself, and they know she doesn't want to because otherwise she has nothing to amuse herself with.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Rarely does she ever leave her throne, because doing so and intervening herself will make her feel like she's ruining the fun regarding sating her sadism with her army's defeats or the defeats of the humans. It doesn't concern her, really, considering she lives in a part of the Digital World from which humans cannot reach. Mecha Rogue X, on the other hand, can actually force Raiga out of her seat, as Mecha Rogue X takes a familiar form that forces her to use all of her own power against him in a fight, in turn setting up the reveal that Mecha Rogue X's body, which is a prototype of Craniamon's own, is flat out stronger than Lord Raiga any day of the week, and that if Lady Raiga were to ever dare cross him or his own territory, he'll be sure to have her head on a pike for all to see all for the lovely cost of $19.95.
  • Red Baron: "The All-Powerful"
  • Sadist: The only reason she doesn't end the war herself with her One-Man Army powerset is the fact she doesn't want to; she wants to watch both sides bleed themselves dry through their efforts and only using her powerset as a means of enforcing this status quo among the Digital World overall.
  • Spiritual Antithesis: To Omni-Man regarding him massacring his own former team and his motivations and reasons to do so. Omni-Man killed the Guardians of the Globe to prevent their interference from the impending invasion of the Viltrumites, and he ultimately later pulls a Heel–Face Turn down the road. Lady Raiga killed the Royal Knights because she was weeding out the competition of the strongest Digimon for the newfound New Digital World, in which she steals Lady Sigma's power of the X-Program, upgrades herself with it, and after having slaughtered all of the Royal Knights, kills Yggdrasil and proceeds to annihilate and Load 98% of the original Digital World's population into herself. As far as motive goes, she is a Godhood Seeker with a Sadist tendency to watch the New Digital World bleed itself dry by forcing them to engage in a pointless war between themselves and humankind.
  • War Is Hell: And Lord Raiga is War's personal Satanic Archetype in this instance, being an absolutely bloodthirsty tyrant who only takes part in execution of prisoners or deserters and relishes how her own army crumbles and bleeds dry through her insane regime and lust for bloodshed solely to amuse herself as her own followers, who more or less outright despise her, are powerless to actually defeat Lord Raiga personally to dare fight back against her desire to uphold the status quo of a Forever War.
  • The Worf Effect: She delivers this singlehandedly to just about every Royal Knight except for Gankoomon (disappeared before she could find him), BaoHackmon (fled to the real world), and Dynasmon (location unknown for centuries). She even kills her alleged lover Lady Sigma just to acquire her X-Antibody from which to utilize All Delete against Yggdrasil and annihilate 98% of the population of Digimon and Load all of them into herself.
  • Wham Line: Much like in the prior fic, her species name is listed as Omnimon... except Lady Raiga makes absolutely zero effort to claim otherwise in her case, and actively embraces it.

The Weird Guy

  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Wherever the hell he's from, he's small fry compared to whatever version of the Digital World he's native to. However, when currently traveling in this particular Digital World where Lord Raiga rules, she can't so much as do anything to so much as harm him even when she's forced to go full power against him, ultimately doing absolutely nothing to him. Even when she busts out All Delete against him, the Grey Sword shatters like glass upon coming into direct contact with his body. The encounter is so traumatic that not only does Lady Raiga outright flee, but she orders an immediate ceasefire just for the entire purpose of figuring out who the fuck this guy is.
  • Outside-Context Problem:
    • If his own word is to be believed? He's indeed a small fry of an individual from whichever world he came from. However, he's more than powerful enough to not only No-Sell EVERYTHING Lady Raiga throws at him personally, even shattering the Grey Sword when she attempts to off him with All Delete to no success. Nobody knows where he came from or what he even is; his power, according to those who witnessed the encounter, nobody is able to identify a proper Digimon Level to associate him with, as even though he successfully caused an Ultra Level to bail and run from him after having shrugged off everything she threw at him, they saw no sort of massive energy signature from this guy in the process, either implying he's not even a Digital Lifeform yet alone a Digimon, or is something completely out of the usual that has suddenly manifested within this world.
    • By comparison? Mecha Rogue X only resorts to burying him in a ditch underneath a massive boulder and immediately bails at Ludicrous Speed putting several hundred miles between the two. It bought Mecha Rogue X about 2 minutes of trying to collect his thoughts to realize that the Weird Guy had thrown the boulder where he anticipated Mecha Rogue X to currently be and only missed by a meter off from where Mecha Rogue X was currently standing. While any actual fight between the two was avoided, Mecha Rogue X did at least learn that the Weird Guy's senses of being able to determine where specific individuals are can go on for quite a long reach, with the only thing having stopped him from having the boulder land on Mecha Rogue X proper was due to the boulder burning up at the sheer speed it was moving and promptly shrinking down to a fraction of it's original size by the time it finally arrived at Mecha Rogue X.
