"Legends in the making."
"Us weirdos have to stick together."
Eda Clawthorne, and later Luz Noceda

The Boiling Isles may be full of horrors, sadness, alongside generally being slimy, stinky, and gross, but if you look at it in another way? It's more than beautiful, it leaves a warmhearted feeling from the general positivity all over the Isles.

    Credits
Season 1
  • Willow making a heart with her hands in the Title Sequence.
  • When Luz is flying on Eda's staff during the Title Sequence, she takes the time to give Gus a high five.
  • The end credits show Luz walking around the Boiling Isles, occasionally looking nervous or scared, only to end with her excitedly running to the Owl House, where Eda and King are waiting for her. It gives off the vibe of a child coming home from school and seeing their mother, and serves as a warm close to each episode.

Season 2

  • Luz wears Eda's cape and brandishes her glyph cards.
  • Luz's friends get extended screentime, including Amity:
    • Willow shows off her glowing plant powers.
    • Gus summons smiling illusion doppelgangers.
    • Amity does a ballet twirl before smiling and letting abomination goo cover the frame.
  • Even after her taking a level in badass, Luz still ends the title sequence releasing a ball of light with Eda and King by her side.

Season 1

    Episode 1 - A Lying Witch and a Warden
  • Luz's Establishing Character Moment is reenacting her favorite scene from the latest Azura book as part of her book report. We see that she loves heroes facing insurmountable odds.
  • The fact that Principal Hal doesn't want to expel Luz. He hears out her latest prank — using live snakes and fireworks for a book report — and calls her mother to figure out a solution.
  • When Eda realizes that Luz is scared that the former will eat her skin, she quickly reassures her that she doesn't hurt children. Rather, in her words, she doesn't attack "potential customers". When the Warden's guards come to arrest Eda and Luz for the crime of talking to her, Eda pulls Luz on her staff and they make their getaway.
  • Luz's reaction to seeing King: to scoop him up for a hug and a cuddle. She talks about how cute he is. When King asks for Eda's help in getting the "monster" off her, Eda complies but admits she can't resist doing the same to her roommate.
  • Eda knew that King's crown was junk the whole time, but went through with the heist anyway because she knew how much it meant to him.
Eda: We only have each other in this world. So if that dumb crown is important to him, it's important to me.
  • Luz giving the Warden’s prisoners a You Are Better Than You Think You Are speech.
  • Luz giving King her doll-sized crown after his old one was destroyed.
  • In a bizarre kind of way, Warden Wrath’s employees encouraging and cheering him on when he tries asking Eda out.
  • The Arc Words of the series: “Us weirdos need to stick together!”
  • Luz pulling Eda and King into a group hug, much to their confusion.
  • King curling up by Luz’s feet when they go to bed.

Episode 2 - Witches Before Wizards
  • King fell asleep at the foot of Luz’s bed, and he’s still there when Luz wakes up.
  • King and Eda wasting no time rescuing Luz.
    • Eda comes knowing that it's a trap, because she knows Luz is in trouble. Even better, she only met the kid yesterday.
      • When Luz tries to tell Adaghast that there’s no way Eda would willingly walk into his trap, Eda and King come swooping as if on cue.
  • Eda taking Luz and King for a ride to watch the sun setting over the Boiling Isles. She does this to comfort Luz over how the Boiling Isles isn't the marvelous fantasy world that Adaghast led her to believe it was. It helps Luz realize that although the isles appear to be slimy and stinky and dangerous, it has a certain fantastic beauty to it in the grand scheme of things.
  • The Aesop of the episode: If we wait around for a prophecy to make us a chosen one we’d be waiting forever, and we have to make our own greatness.

    Episode 3 - I Was a Teenage Abomination
  • King happily getting a belly scratch from Luz.
  • Luz’s budding friendship with Willow and Gus.
  • Luz racing back to the Owl House and straight to Eda when she’s in over her head at the academy. After showing her skepticism over Eda’s way of doing things, Luz is starting to have more understanding and respect for her.
  • Willow and Gus leaving school grounds and racing to catch up with Luz.
    • Willow happily telling Luz that she has a new course study in plant based magic.
    • Principal Bump gets a small one and a hint at future Character Development, when his only reaction to Willow's vines attacking him is to praise her skill and switch her to the school courses she really wanted.
  • Luz, Willow, and Gus’s group hug.
  • Eda giving Luz an Affectionate Gesture to the Head.
  • Eda's happiness when she sees the poster banning Luz from Hexside.
Eda: Aw, baby's first "Wanted!" Poster
  • While Eda's hardly a great role model, it's noteworthy that she dismisses school-teaching and encourages finding your own way instead. It's a nice message for the audience (be they kids or adults) who struggle with studying and school, telling them that they aren't failures because of the method they used to get places. Whether they learned in school or on their own, they still learned, and that's all that really matters.

    Episode 4 - The Intruder
  • When the burning rain comes down and Luz wants to stand in it, Eda's first reaction is to grab Luz and toss her inside before her skin gets scalded. Doubles as a Funny Moment since this leads to Luz getting hurt, but we see how much Eda cares for her.
  • King putting a band-aid on Luz's arm and going "Look, now we're boo‐boo buddies!" Luz's adorable squeal is what sells it.
Luz: [squeals] Oh, my gosh, I love you so much!
  • When King suspects Luz has been taken by the Snaggleback, he immediately chases after the monster demanding her back
King: Give me back my boo-boo buddy!!
  • King tackling Luz with a hug after she calls him the best demonology teacher in the world. Already a far cry from episodes 1 and 2, where he couldn't stand being coddled by her.
  • If you think about it, depending on how common this knowledge is, King must trust Luz a lot if he's willing to share a demon's only two weaknesses with her despite the possibility that she could possibly use them against him.
  • The look of wonder on Luz's face the first time she uses magic.
  • Once Eda confesses her secret, her friends, even after being nearly devoured by her monster form, show no fear of her.

    Episode 5 - Covention
  • Amity is devastated that Lilith tricked her into cheating in the duel against Luz, thinking it means Lilith has no faith in her abilities and that her future as a witch is in jeopardy. Luz manages to track Amity down and give her a pep talk, and in exchange, Amity lifts the "Everlasting Oath" spell so that Luz can continue to use magic.
  • Though they try to hide it between snark and vitriol, there are strong hints that Eda and Lilith do care about each other, and each deeply wishes that the other would come around to their point of view.
    • When Lilith spots Eda, she states, "You shouldn't even be here. You're a wanted criminal. Unless..." The obvious follow-through would be to assume Eda wants to make trouble. Instead, Lilith gasps, "You're here to join the Emperor's Coven!" She immediately assumes the best (from her perspective) of her sister, and she's outright ecstatic at the idea of being reunited. It's incredibly sweet, if misguided.
  • When Luz wonders if she can be a witch, Eda tells her to not let herself be brought down by the losers at the covention and be her own witch.
  • Although she ends up immediately regretting it and King ends up being an ungrateful Jerkass about it, Luz only challenges Amity to a witch's duel because she stepped on King's cupcake. Luz tells Amity that she can insult her all she wants, but she will not abide any bullying of her friends.
    • Later on, King redeems himself for his earlier behavior by angrily telling a fan cheering for Amity in her and Luz's duel "Hey! You cheer for Luz or no-one!" Yes, it's another case of him acting like a tyrant when his stature doesn't allow for it, but it also shows that he does truly care for Luz.
  • A subtle example: When Principal rhetorically asks, "What's the height of magical achievement?" Matholomule grows his head to the size he can't support it and falls onto another student. Rather than scolding him, Principal Bump puts the blame on himself.
Principal Bump: Wow, I've failed you as a principal.

    Episode 6 - Hooty's Moving Hassle
  • When Luz sees that Willow and Gus are in a depressed mood, she immediately goes into protective friend mode ("Who hurt my babies?"), and when she learns that Willow and Gus haven't been to a moonlight conjuring before, invites them over, and reassures Willow that she doesn't need to worry about what Amity and her Girl Posse think of her.
  • Amity stops her Girl Posse from picking on Willow by saying "Leave her alone. It's not her fault she wasn't born with talent". While it's a pointedly cruel remark, it DOES indeed stop the taunting, and there's more emotion in how the first part of the line is delivered when compared to the second. Much like with Lilith toward Eda in the previous episode, a part of Amity clearly still holds sentimental feelings toward Willow, even if it's been buried deep within.
  • After Willow shares all of her insecurities and painful details of her past with Luz, Luz immediately encourages her and tells her that, next to Eda, she's the most powerful witch she knows.
  • Despite punishing them for what they did, Eda still can't help but be impressed by the magic power and resourcefulness displayed by Luz, Willow and Gus and says that she totally wants to join in next year.

Episode 7 - Lost in Language
  • Prior to this episode, Amity Blight has had three basic expressions: smug, furious, and deadpan. Here, we see her actually smile, and it's adorable.
Luz: Amity seems so nice, and smiley!
  • Everything relating to Amity and the childrens' book character of Otabin. She happily reads the book to children at the library while clearly empathizing with Otabin's situation. Later, when Otabin is accidentally turned into a monster by Edric and Emira, Amity tells him that she's read him since she was a kid and she knows that he isn't really like this. Finally, once Otabin is restored back to normal and apologizes for what he did, Amity says "It's all right. We're still friends".
    • The kids themselves seem to love her as well, with one of them hugging her before leaving. It's very sweet.
  • At the end of the episode, Luz makes another attempt to reconcile with Amity for contributing to her grief by loaning her the one Azura book that she doesn't have yet, seeing that forming a friendship with her must come naturally. This simple gesture of kindness touches Amity so much that she retracts her hypocritical view of Luz as a bully and says that she knows she hasn't been the nicest witch "either" and that she'll try to improve on that from now on.
    • Luz never intended to go along with Edric and Emira's plan to expose Amity's diary entries, immediately suggesting that that was going too far. Unfortunately, Amity happened to walk in when Luz was picking up the loose pages.
    • Luz manages to make Amity laugh a little with this line of dialogue after escaping Otabin.
    Amity: What now?
Luz: I don't know! I didn't think that would work! I was all like, "BWAH!"
    Amity: (giggles)
  • The whole sub-plot with Eda having to babysit the Bat Queen's children. At first, she disparages maternal, nurturing feelings and clearly is only doing the job to get in the Bat Queen's favor. By the end of it, she's proven to be such a good caretaker and grown so close to the babies that she's devastated when the Bat Queen comes and takes them back home while she's sleeping. To cheer her up, Luz gives her a book about Empty Nest Syndrome.

    Episode 8 - Once Upon a Swap
  • Luz sets out to bring more customers to Eda's stand, both to prove a point, and because she genuinely wants to help her mentor out.
  • When Boscha challenges King-as-Luz to a dangerous race, Skara tells "Luz" that she doesn't have to go through with it if she doesn't want to, assuring her that they all understand humans are "super fragile." Skara doesn't so much as imply that she'd think less of Luz for saying no, and her tone of voice and general personality seem to indicate that she genuinely means what she's saying. King takes it as Condescending Compassion, but it really does seem like she means well and doesn't want to see the human get badly hurt.
  • In a twisted sort of way, Lilith bringing up how Eda's childhood dream was to join the Emperor's Coven, and that Lilith thinks she's doing the right thing by forcing Eda to join.
  • Luz says that while their lives may be more complex than any of them thought, being together makes things seem more simple.

Episode 9 - Something Ventured, Someone Framed
  • Eda quickly admits she's pushing her own hang-ups with Hexside on Luz and makes it a point to get Luz into school, even if it means dealing with the embarrassing tasks Bump puts her through.
    • Also they just had their first ever argument, so it's an attempt to save their friendship.
    • Eda thinks the school is trying to brainwash students into conformity, but part of the reason she works to get Luz in is because she believes Luz is smart enough not to fall for that.
  • A student helps another conjure a snowball and they credit The Power of Friendship. Eda remarks on how corny it is, and how Luz would love it.
  • Despite the trouble Eda caused in her youth, Principle Bump doesn't hold any real grudge against her, and assures her that his school is a safe place for her and Luz, even from the Emperor's Coven. He may have paid lip service to the Emperor's Coven when they were around in "Covention", but here he makes it clear that he puts his duty as a principal above even them.
  • One of the pranks noted in Eda's permanent record is unleashing abominations on a bully who stole Lilith's lunch money. And when the abominations merged into one that went out of control, Eda, Lilith and the bully formed a truce to bring it down.
  • Gus and Luz rescuing Mattholomule from detention, citing No One Gets Left Behind.
  • Gus offering himself to be punished in Luz's place. Of course, it was really his fault, but he still took the punishment for Luz not knowing how severe it would be.
  • Luz's "Banned" poster is hung up against the corner of Eda's own bounty poster. She really is proud of her apprentice.

Episode 10 - Escape of the Palisman
  • Owlbert protectively standing between Luz and the Bat Queen.
  • Eda and Owlbert are in general adorable during the episode. Eda's better thing to do with the little owl than destroy King's enemies? Pet him.
Eda: I'd annihilate anyone who'd hurt him.
  • The Bat Queen's protectiveness of the palismen in the woods.
  • In a bizarre way, King forfeiting his "throne" to save Eda.
  • Luz offering to help the Bat Queen find out what happened to her original owner.
  • Owlbert being inducted into the "boo boo buddy club".
  • The Bat Queen getting her babies ready for bed.

Episode 11 - Sense and Insensitivity
  • The B-plot has Eda racing against Lilith to obtain a flower that is said to grant eternal youth, leading to some bonding:
    • Eda rescuing Lilith from a spider-like monster. Eda's reasoning behind doing so brings a genuine smile to Lilith's face.
Lilith: I wasn't certain that you'd save me.
Eda: Stow it! Oh, we might fight but you're still my sister.
    • In the end, Eda assumes that Lilith will once again try to capture her and make her join the Emperor's Coven. Lilith denies this, hoping that her sister will come around and join willingly.
      Eda: Catch you later sis.
Lilith: Not if I catch you first.

Episode 12 - Adventures in the Elements
  • It's rather telling about Luz's bond with Amity that the entire episode's plot is solely because she wants to pass the entrance exam so she can be in the same class as the latter.
  • Luz squeeing "YES" upon arriving at the Knee (an arctic region of the Boiling Isles where Eda took her to be trained) and gasping that the ruins look beautiful.
  • As Amity practices her magic with her siblings, she notices Luz watching and gives an adorable wave with her cutest smile.
  • While they can still act like jerks to Amity, Emira and Edric are clearly sincere about toning it down after learning what their library prank almost caused. The thought of physical harm coming to Amity because of their actions is clearly a troubling one to them.
  • Emira gives Amity the confidence she needs to cast her fire spell. And then Emira and Edric state that they're proud of their baby sister.
  • Eda also gives out praise for Luz's ingenuity on casting an ice spell.
  • Luz and Amity warming up about being in class together, and Amity telling Luz that they'll plan a book club together.
  • Amity gets mad at Luz for taking the wand, but unlike in the past where she would assume the worst of Luz when this sort of thing happened, this time she knows Luz enough to understand that she had no ill intentions. When she seals Luz into a forcefield rather than accept her help, she looks sad about it and says "You'll only get hurt", showing that even when still angry at her Amity cares about Luz and prioritizes her safety above anything else.

Episode 13 - The First Day
  • Luz completely screws up her entrance exam and thinks she is not gonna get into Hexside, but Bump says he's seen worse.
  • Eda flying Luz to her first day at school and being very supportive, followed by an amicable meeting with Amity and then Willow and Gus.
    • It should be noted that, even though the High-Five is virtually unknown on the Boiling Isles, Amity does it when Luz holds her hand up, meaning that Luz had to teach her the gesture at some point.
  • Early in the episode Luz is freaking out, afraid she is going to make a fool of herself in front of everyone. Later on, she eavesdrops on Amity very similarly freaking out about what sounds like fear of making a fool of herself in front of Luz, which becomes even more Heartwarming in Hindsight by "Enchanting Grom Fright".
  • Even though the students are subject to all sorts of perils that Bump finds somewhat amusing, the second Amity appears to be in actual danger, Bump does everything in his power to protect her.
  • At the end of the episode, Bump sees the error of his ways and agrees to let the troublemakers study two types of magic each. And Luz? She's allowed to study all of them.

Episode 14 - Really Small Problems
  • This episode shows how Luz's relationships have developed since she came to the Boiling Isles, especially her relationship with King. He is shown to really treasure his friendship with her, as made explicit by his excitement to get the friendship bracelets and by his apology to Luz.
King: Luz, I'm sorry for taking you away from your friends! I know you'll eventually go home, and now you're spending more time at school. I just... want to be around you!
    • The revelation that these two dedicate a whole hour (often enough that Eda dreads it) to making jokes and having fun with each other.
    • When Luz asks King if Willow and Gus can join them, despite clearly not being happy about it, King places Luz's happiness above his own and agrees
  • Eda's inability to be mad at Owlbert for running off to play "Whack-A-Giraffe" because he's too adorable.
  • Eda exclaiming "Those are my dumb kids!" upon realizing Luz, Gus, Willow, and King have been forced into the tiny circus. She has definitely fully claimed the role of Parental Substitute by now.

    Episode 15 - Understanding Willow
  • We see a lot of Willow and Amity's happy childhood memories, and they are adorable. Amity even seems to enjoy reminiscing while fixing them.
    • Fridge-Heartwarming: The final memory to be fixed, the one of Willow at Amity's birthday, takes on a whole new layer of heartwarming and meaningful when one thinks abou the subtext behind it. Amity's parents often control her, and make a point to give her "suitable companions" despite they're callous brats she could care less about. They even voice they didn't invite Willow. But Amity still wanted her to come because she was her best friend. In the picture, she's glomping Willow with a hug, ecstatic she came despite her parents banning her. Sweetly enough, this is one of Willow's happier memories because (even if it was the last time she would ever be nice) it was the happiest she ever saw Amity.
  • It turns out that Amity breaking off her friendship with Willow was a Break His Heart to Save Him moment. Amity's parents disapproved of their friendship, and if Amity hadn't done it, they would have done so themselves by using their influence to prevent her from ever enrolling in Hexside. Showing this to the "Inner Willow" finally calms her down. Amity apologizes and promises to try and be a better friend. In turn, Inner Willow decides the real Willow should be allowed to keep all memories of Amity, warts and all.
    • Amity's Fatal Flaw is a fear of being seen as weak, which is why she led Willow to believe that she broke off their friendship because of Willow's lack of magical talent instead of telling her the truth, and also why she acted condescending towards Willow and why she didn't defend her from being bullied. But now, she outright tells Inner Willow that she was never too weak to be her friend... it was the other way around. That's right, Amity admitted to her own weakness because she is that remorseful about hurting her friend for so long.
Amity: Willow, you were never too weak to be my friend. I was too weak to be yours. I can't take back what I've done, but I can promise you this. (takes out Skara's birthday invitation) I won't let Boscha and her gang pick on you ever again. (tries to tear apart the invite) I'm not actually gonna rip it because it's a real butterfly, but you get the gesture, right?
Inner Willow: (tearfully with a smile) I do. I think Willow should keep her memories of you. The good and the bad.
  • Once all the memories are healed and restored, Inner Willow (and Young!Inner Willow) sees off Amity and Luz. If anything, it's a sign that Willow has made peace with her past. She's finally starting to heal.
  • After regaining her memories and still remembering what happened in her mind, Willow says to Amity that, even if it’s too soon to see her as a friend again, this is a start. This is the beginning of a rekindled friendship.
  • The fact that despite having horrid people for parents Amity and her siblings are still fundamentally good souls. They have their flaws and can hurt people by going too far but at the end of the day they choose to be better than their vices and grow as people and be better, which is rarely easy in toxic households.
  • Gus ultimately decides to interview... Hooty, since he knows everything that happens in the owl house and has to have interesting stories to tell. While it's played for laughs, Hooty's genuine happiness at meeting someone who wants to hear what he has to say just gives you the fuzzy warm feelings.
    Gus: Tell me everything.
Hooty: I've been waiting to hear those words my entire life!

Episode 16 - Enchanting Grom Fright
  • The boy who asks Skara to the Grom went out of the way to impress her. Yes, it was creepy but the gesture was admirable. It helps their behavior in the rest of the episode implies he knew her well enough to know she won't be terrified by his stunt.
  • Amity snaps at the person she bumped into but immediately calms down once realizes it's Luz. She is overall nice to Gus and Willow as well. It shows that while she still has a long way to go, she is improving as a person.
  • Willow responds to Amity's greeting with a small wave and a smile and later, when Luz congratulates Amity on being made Grom Queen, unaware it is actually a bad thing, Willow suggests Luz gives Amity some space. It's already a vast improvement over their interactions compared to what it was before "Understanding Willow".
  • After accidentally knocking Amity into mud in the woods, then seeing how this is the latest inconvenience of an already bad day, Luz happily sits herself down in the same mud puddle to listen to her.
  • Luz, seeing that Amity is too scared to face Grom, volunteers to take her place as Grom Queen because she is her friend, something that Amity was clearly not expecting her to do. What's more, considering what we find out later about Amity's worst fear, this gesture might mean more to Amity than Luz realizes.
  • Edric and Emira helping Luz get ready to fight Grom. It could be that they want to help Luz and don't want her to get hurt, it could be that Amity asked them to help, or it could be both. And really, any of those reasons would be touching. They might go too far with pranks and jokes sometimes, but they do have enough heart to show concern for others when things get serious.
  • Eda being sought out as chaperone for Grom Night counts, considering that she's technically a wanted fugitive by the authorities. Principal Bump was serious about his school being neutral ground for her and Luz. Alternately, it could be because he wanted a powerful witch on hand in case things went wrong for Amity (and later Luz), and wanted Eda there for protective reasons, but this further showcases Bump really cares about the safety of his students.
  • While Eda chastises Luz for wanting to fight Grom she refers to her as her kid. She attends the Grom mentally preparing herself to go in Mama Bear mode at any moment.
  • Luz's greatest fear steams from the guilt that she is lying to her mother about where she is and cutting her off and she tries to at least amend the latter part at the end of the episode.
  • Gus gives King a prep-talk to help him overcome his stage fright and in the end King is able to make the crowd cheer at his lines.
  • When Luz finds that she can't face Grom, Eda and Amity both jump in to save her, the former forgiving her for not listening to her warnings and the latter apologizing for letting her bear the burden.
  • Amity's greatest fear turns out to be rejected by a person she wanted to ask to the Grom. Finding that out, Luz offers to be her Grom date instead. The best part? While she's completely unaware of it, Luz herself turns out to be whom Amity wanted to ask in the first place, so she's unwittingly proving to Amity that her fear was baseless all along and gives Amity the dance she wanted the whole time.
    • Given how she was already a Broken Ace before the series started, the fact that Amity considers the possibility of Luz rejecting her to be a bigger fear than anything else in her life speaks volumes on how much Luz means to her.
  • Amity and Luz beat Grom by dance. Their dancing is so in sync that they don't even need to communicate with each other to know what the other is doing. Special mention goes to when Amity says this Pre-Mortem One-Liner to Luz:
Amity: May I have this dance?
  • The last set of "Grom Memories" pictures has Luz by herself, who then notices something off-frame, and drags a blushing Amity into the frame, Willow and Gus popping up behind them, all four of them obviously having a blast.
    • Another layer of heartwarming is layered onto this when you remember that Amity never wanted to break off her friendship with Willow, and doesn't enjoy being part of the Girl Posse her parents shoehorned her into. But on Grom Night, she finally found some true friends, including her secret crush and old friend!

Episode 17 - Wing It Like Witches
  • The beginning of the episode shows that since patching things up with Amity, Willow has become more confident and popular at school and Amity has distanced herself from Boscha's mean-girl posse.
Amity: Y'know, I used to be like you, Boscha. Obsessed with status, challenging my competition, but I grew up. When will you?
    • What's more, Amity delivers this line to shut down Bosha bullying Willow, effectively using her own status in school to protect Willow and proving she meant it when she said she will protect Willow from bullying from now on.
  • King was sleeping in Luz's hood on the way to school. Before she heads in, Luz kisses him on the nose. Aw...
  • Amity's crush on Luz has developed to the point that any time she is around her, or thinks about the points she loves about her, she becomes an adorable nervous stammering mess.
  • While Eda is reminiscing with King over her Grudgby days as a teen, we see a photo of her locking arms with someone from the bard track at Hexside. The two appear to be very close, with them sharing the same treats and smiling to the camera, showing that even as a troublemaker, Eda still had a close bond with someone other than her sister while at school.
    • Even sweeter once you realize that person was Raine.
  • When Willow and Gus are pushed too far, Luz recognizes she was wrong, forfeits the Grudgby game she forced them into, and offers to take Willow's place in whatever punishment Boscha can think of. Even Boscha can't help but admit that Luz is a really good friend to Willow.
  • After Eda beats Lilith in their Grudgby game. Lilith is very distraught and/or afraid about having to back to the Emperor empty handed. So Eda gives Lilith her ring and a cover story about her putting up a heavy fight.
  • When Amity finally decides to cut ties with Boscha and join Willow and Luz's team Boscha says that Amity is ruining her social life. Amity on the other hand says she believes she is making it a lot better.
  • Even though Boscha's team wins and she has made every effort to destroy Luz and Willow's reputations, it all backfires as the girls in Boscha's posse see them as friendly and talented witches.
    • Prior to the end of the game, Luz briefly compliments the plant girl on a good play, which the latter happily accepts, only rebuffing it later because of Boscha's Death Glare. It's implied that Luz had performed more of the same good sportsmanship routine, earning Boscha's teammates' respect.
  • When Boscha's teammates offer Willow to be on their team, Boscha looks legitimately scared she will lose her posse. Instead, Willow politely turns down the offer, claiming that she's done with Grudgby for a while. Whether this will make Boscha stop bullying her or not, this speaks volumes of how kind Willow is.
  • Willow is just as horrified as Luz when they realize Amity is hurt, showing that she and Amity have patched things up enough for her to care about her getting injured.
  • During the ending montage, Amity visits the Owl House with her broken leg in a cast, implying she made the effort by herself to come all the way out to visit Luz and co. The cute little wave and smile she does is several levels of precious.
    • Hooty gives Amity a lift to the couch, which is a nice sentiment given she thrashed the heck out of him in the last episode.
    • Amity's smile and blush when she's surrounded by the Owl House crew is a beautiful moment for her. After watching her apathetic distance from Boscha and her gang at the end of "Hooty's Moving Hassle", and her diary entry about her yearning for somewhere to belong in "Lost in Language", it seems Amity's finally found that place where she can truly be herself with those she cares about, and the girl she loves.

    Episode 18 - Agony Of A Witch
  • Eda was making a cloak of Witch's Wool to protect herself from the Emperor's Coven, but she decides to make one for Luz instead. It's wrapped up in a nice little bow next to King's cake when Luz gets home.
  • Eda attempts to get Luz to be happy by brushing off the consequences of her curse turning her into the owl beast forever and attempts to force a smile from her by pushing her lips into such a shape. When that fails, she agrees to allow Luz to do her "horizontal arms thing". The results are rather awkward and adorable.
  • Luz decides to find a way to free Eda from her curse. As Eda has done so much for Luz, the latter wants to return the favor.
    • Willow and Gus joining Luz's quest after they figure out what she’s up to.
  • Willow seems genuine about it being a pity that Amity couldn't make it because of her injury from the last episode, showing just how much they've repaired their relationship.
  • A small one, but the fact that Eda has a picture of Luz on her wall suggests her embracing the role of Luz’s caretaker.
  • When Eda uses her magic to catch Luz after Lilith throws her off the bridge, we get this exchange that shows just how much Eda has grown to care about Luz.
Luz: Eda, stop! You’ll run out of magic!
Eda: It’s my power, kid. And before you showed up, I spent my whole life wasting it.
  • Eda’s last words before using all her magic to save Luz, even if it means being stuck as an Owl Beast forever. Doubles as a tearjerker.
Eda: Alright kid, listen to me. I'm going away, and I don't know if I can bounce back this time. Watch over King, remember to feed Hooty...
    Luz: Please. No.
Eda: And Luz...Thank you...for being in my life.

Episode 19 - Young Blood, Old Souls
  • When Perry announces that Eda is going to be petrified, Amity (watching the report on a crystal ball) has a look of horror on her face, indicating that she is concerned for Eda's impending fate, or worried for Luz, who is about to lose her mentor and guardian. Either way, it shows how far Amity has come in caring about others.
  • The note left on the cape Eda knitted for Luz reads "To a young witch from her proud mentor".
  • Luz and King are willing to go up against Belos and his Coven to rescue Eda. King even refers to Eda explicitly as his family when he insists on coming with Luz, and she echoes this when they find her later on.
  • Luz spends the first half of the episode blaming herself for Eda losing her magic and getting captured, but Eda is quick to shut that down.
Luz: It’s my fault you needed to save me. It’s my fault you got captured.
Eda: No. Listen to me; I’m here because of my own actions.
    • Eda then goes on to say that she doesn’t regret going against Emperor Belos’ laws and living most of her life as a criminal. Why? Aside from living free from the Coven system, she got to meet Luz.
  • Eda is far more concerned about Luz's safety than her own when the latter comes to her rescue.
  • Though sad, it's sweet when Luz objects to Eda allowing herself to be petrified, stating that they're a family.
  • Right before Eda's taken away...
    Luz: I love you, Eda.
Eda: (looks taken aback, then tears up) I love you too, kiddo.
  • When Luz sees Lilith, she immediately goes on the warpath. She was kidnapped and nearly killed by Lilith, but it's what Lilith has done to Eda that drives her to rage.
Luz: You. You hurt Eda. You put her in chains. And now, I will take you down!
  • When Lilith and Eda were children, Eda tripped and scraped her knee as they were playing in the woods. Lilith immediately wiped away Eda's tears and cast a spell to split the pain, making the scrape smaller but giving herself a matching scrape in the process.
  • In the flashback, Lilith tries to imitate Eda spinning around a mop like a witch's staff and ends up smacking herself in the head, knocking her to the ground. But rather than laugh or make fun of her, Eda looks genuinely concerned and immediately helps her back up. Goes to show how much she cared about her sister back then.
  • Even though it was a horrible thing to do, it turns out Lilith only cursed Eda because she honestly thought it would only last a day, not forever, and because she was desperate for the spot on the Emperor's Coven and thought Eda would fight her for it.
  • Eda refusing to fight her sister and forfeiting their duel.
  • Lilith returning Eda's staff and Owlbert to Luz. The little owl even cuddles up to her.
  • What's the first thing that Eda mentions once Lilith is in the cage with her? That Lilith hurt Luz. The first thing on Eda's mind is what her sister has done to her apprentice, with everything after that being secondary.
  • King stepping in Eda’s path to protect Lilith from her wrath after she betrays Belos.
  • Willow and Gus doing their part to help turn popular opinion in the crowd watching Eda's petrification, who cheer as Eda, Luz, King, and Lilith escape into the night.
  • Upon learning that Emperor Belos never had any intention of healing Eda, Lilith turns against him by helping Luz.
  • In the end, Lilith makes some measure of amends for her actions by sharing Eda's curse, allowing her to return to human form, even if her magic hasn't been restored.
  • After Eda is returned to human form, Luz naturally hugs her. Only this time, Eda hugs her back.
  • Luz's last lines in the episode are her speaking to her mother, promising to find a way to return to her someday. The last thing she says is in Spanish.
Deja una luz para mi. Te quiero. Translation

Season 2

    Episode 1 - Separate Tides
  • Luz and Eda throughout the episode are just worried about how they can best help the other.
  • King has grown so attached to Luz that he declares he is not letting her go home once they find a way.
  • While discussing their money troubles in town, Eda mentions to her sister that since a lot of Boiling Isles food is inedible to humans, she tries to stock up on the foods that Luz especially likes out of her limited options. Eda's care for Luz comes through again.
  • After spending the entire first season as The Friend Nobody Likes, Hooty finally forms a sincere friendship with Lilith of all people after saving her from a swarm of fire-bees. Lilith even gives him a nickname in the form of "Hootcifer".
    • The protection itself. Lilith finally admits she can't handle the bees herself, and pleads for help.
Hooty: I'm here for you Lulu! No witch is an island! NOW FACE MY WRATH!
Lilith: (Applauds and giggles at Hooty's prowess)
  • When Luz is about to fight the selkiedomus in order to earn a little money and be less of a "burden" to Eda, the latter doesn't hesitate to stop her from attacking the sea creature (or more likely get herself senselessly killed). She calls her out on her reckless action, setting the record straight that she's not directly at fault for Eda losing her powers, Luz is not a burden, and getting herself hurt in the process isn't going to make things better. If anything, she's already done more good than she realizes, from helping King get his crown back, to saving Eda's life, right down to helping her reconcile with her sister Lillith.
  • Luz and Eda faking the demise of the sea monster, keeping her and her baby safe. As thanks, it gifts her a huge pile of a valuable substance, solving their money problems for the foreseeable future.

    Episode 2 - Escaping Expulsion
  • Luz reuniting with Willow and Gus after the events of "Young Blood, Old Souls". She was afraid that it would change the way her friends saw her, but their feelings for her have hardly changed.
  • Principal Bump is forced to expel Luz, Willow, and Gus, but it's clear he doesn't want to. And while their efforts to get back in are mostly comedic and he continues to rebuff them, he has tears in his eyes while doing so and bursts into actual tears the third time. He genuinely misses them.
Bump: Life is just so dull without them!
  • Lilith excitedly goes along with Luz's lessons on glyphs, "oohing and aahing" during her theatrics. Given that Lilith's past interactions with Luz personally have been distantly neutral at best and acrimonious at worst, it's nice to see her going along with the show that Luz is trying to put on for their glyph lessons.
  • How does Lilith practice with her new glyph based ice powers? She has fun with Hooty by making him a crown, making popsicles for both of them, and creating a fantastic sculpture of him.
  • Amity apologizes for not standing up to her mother, but Luz immediately tells her she understands and doesn't hold it against her. Given that this episode fully confirms that Amity is indeed a victim of emotional and psychological abuse, the complete lack of Victim-Blaming is very nice to see.
    • It seems that Luz's forgiveness towards Amity for not standing up for her, Willow, and Gus may be influenced by the events between this episode and "Understanding Willow." These events seem to have helped Luz better understand Amity, including the difficulty of standing up to one's parents they share.
  • Luz putting up with Odalia's torments to help her friends get back into school.
  • When Willow gets expelled, her dads are understandably furious, but their solution is oddly heartwarming — besides the "grounded for at least three years" thing (which, to be fair, very well could've just been said in a moment of anger, and when we see them later on they seem to have calmed down). They plan to homeschool Willow, and use the newfound spare time to get in some quality family bonding. Despite their Education Papa tendencies, it really does seem like they're making the best of a bad situation and don't actually intend to make Willow continue paying for her expulsion (especially since Bump might have told them it wasn't her fault).
    • When Gus and Amity show up to tell Willow that Luz is in danger, one of her dads catches her about to sneak out. He winks and closes the door without a word, allowing her to slip away without getting into further trouble with her other dad. Willow smiles appreciatively at this.
  • Amity standing up to her mother in a fit of righteous fury when the latter goes as far as to try and set up Luz to be killed in the Abomination demonstration. Amity has put up with so much abuse over the years, but she won't stand to see her own mother extinguish her light.
Amity: Stay away from my Luz!
    • After she says that, Luz does a Crush Blush, implying that she's finally realized her own feelings for Amity.
  • Bordering on awesome, Amity also calls out her mother on having forced her to hang out with the so-called "friends" her parents chose, declaring that she'd rather be friends with Luz, Willow and Gus because they are genuinely kind to her and each other, and they taught her how to be a good person again.
    • Amity's inclusion of Gus deserves a mention. To date, the two of them have rarely interacted with each other. And before her character development, he was beneath her notice despite him being a gifted grade skipper.
  • The twins helping Amity, Willow, and Gus sneak in to help Luz. Sure, they also use the opportunity to prank their sister (which Amity rebuffs easily), but the way Emira says "Of course" like it's the most obvious thing in the world shows the friendship they formed with Luz in "Lost in Language" was genuine.
  • Alador's reaction to Amity's battle with the Abomaton 2.0 has him going from worried for Amity, to intrigued, to flat out proud of his daughter and her skills in only a couple of minutes.

Episode 3 - Echoes of the Past
  • Lilith and Hooty's bond gets more focus here, and we see numerous cute scenes of them.
    • Of special note is Lilith inviting Hooty to come with her, Luz, and King to the island. After spending last season as The Friend Nobody Likes, Hooty is absolutely elated to join them.
  • Luz doing her best to play along with King's delusions, then comforting him when he learns the truth.
    • While King is broken over the truth, it's Luz who suggests that his mysteriously specific memory of falling may be the key to his true origins. Although it's a long shot, it's still a chance. When King's hesitant to learn because he fears that "the story gets worse", Luz assures him that whatever they learn about him won't change that he has friends who love him.
  • Lilith tending to Eda's injuries after her fight with Jean-Luc and later trying to protect Eda.
  • Eda taking a young King with her when she thought that he was in danger from Jean-Luc.
    • For that matter, the later flashback to young King with Eda after she took him in is adorable. Showcasing not just King's first words, but also her naming him King and telling him all about what being a King means much like a parent to a toddler.
  • When Eda says she understands if King won't just forgive her for having let him believe a lie his whole life, King responds... by giving her a playful boop, as though meaning to let her know he doesn't hold it against her. When King asks Eda to promise she won't keep any more secrets or tell anymore lies, she warmly agrees.
  • It's worth noting that when Luz proposes to go back to the tower on the promise that they might find something about King's past, no one protests. They had no reason to believe anything in there would be worth facing the monster again, but they do it anyway.
  • Shortly after regaining his memories, King realizes that the roar he heard in his first memory actually translates to something: "Son..."
  • Jean-Luc cradling a newly-hatched King goes a long way in revealing that it wasn't simply a cold-blooded killing machine.
  • When King decides to search for his father, he asks Luz to help him, and Luz promises to help without a second thought.
  • Luz fixing King's horn with glue.
  • When King is somberly wondering if it would even be appropriate to be called "King" anymore now that he learned he isn't the king of demons as he thought, Luz tells him that he is still the king of her heart and asks if that could be good enough for him. King responds in the affirmative.

    Episode 4 - Keeping up A-fear-ances
  • In the flashback after Eda describes her curse, the Healer practices his bed side manners by kindly offering she use her new (signature) bauble to indicate when the curse flares up, helping to lighten the mood by casually mentioning that it's the latest in witch fashion.
  • After her curse acts up, Lilith somberly apologizes for ever cursing Eda. Eda assures Lilith that she has her if she needs anything. There's something to be said about one sister showing remorse for what they did, while the other shows not only forgiveness, but generosity.
  • While her methods were ineffective to say the least, it is clear from the get go that Gwendolyn loves Eda. After her dramatic entrance, she rushes to hug Eda and asks after her health, even though Eda rebuffs her affections. She doesn't even seem to be bitter over her choosing to remain covenless.
  • After Eda sends Gwen away and Lilith sulks back inside, Luz chases after Gwen, saying what she's trying to do for Eda is "so sweet".
  • Hooty expressing genuine concern when Lilith (and King) have too much ice cream. In previous episodes, he would make it a point to carelessly let others do as they please (like when he almost let Luz run into the boiling rains), especially if it amused him. If he's worried for Lilith's well-being, he must really care about her.
  • To make up for letting those snake-oil salesmen take advantage of her desperation, Gwen confronts the goblins who scammed her and threatens to use her beast-keeping magic to send every creature on the isles after them. It's one thing when you scam her, but if you do it at the expense of Gwendolyn Clawthorne properly treating her ailing daughters, that's where she draws the line.
    • What's more, this is where Gwen starts to acknowledge she was wrong for ignoring Eda's insistence that the potions were working well. A prouder parent would've doubled down on "using natural remedies", but Gwen loves her girls enough to realize things have gone far enough.
  • Notably, while she's furious with Gwen for falling for the scam artists, Luz also proves to be understanding of Gwen's desperation. When Gwen insists on returning to Wartlock instead of chasing after her cursed daughters, Luz just sadly but non-judgmentally responds "I can see you still need a little time." No disbelief, no talking her down, just pure empathic understanding. It really proves her nature as an All-Loving Hero.
  • Gwen having a heart-to-heart with her daughters while they are an owl-beast and a raven-beast and successfully calming them down.
    • Throughout the episode, Eda has refused to call her mother anything but her first name in order to distance her. But after Gwen accepts Eda curse and all, it gives her the willpower to take control of her curse. Naturally, when she comes to, Eda accepts Gwendolyn as "Mom."
    • Gwen cradling Raven-Beast!Lilith in her lap, gently comforting the latter as she starts to cry.
  • Generally, the entire turning point where Gwen starts to show Lilith the love she needed. She goes from brushing Lilith aside to gently acknowledging she was in the wrong for neglecting her.
    • What's more, her referring Lilith as "Sweet Flea" when she realizes her daughter has been cursed, showing that she never neglected her elder daughter her entire life. She loves Lilith just as much as she does Eda, she just needed to realize that (self-reliant or not) Lilith needed her attention too.
  • After the dust has settled, King soberly remarks how Gwen was "trying to do her best". As opposed to earlier when he and Lilith were spiraling into the bitter belief their respective parents didn't love them, King's giving his dad the benefit of the doubt that just because he wasn't there to see his baby hatch doesn't necessarily mean he didn't love his son.
  • It's an easy to miss moment, but Gwen mentions that Lilith told her about being the one who cursed Eda. Instead of shunning Lilith or lashing out at her, Gwen shows nothing but understanding and regrets that her daughters had to be burdened by the secret for thirty years. In a way Gwen acknowledges once again that her relentless pursuit of trying to "cure" Eda did more harm than good, and most likely contributed to Lilith's inability to admit what she did due to how much she ignored Lilith.
    • Better still, something good came from Lilith coming clean to her mother about being behind the curse. Lilith is going to live with her mother to reconnect with her and study a way to cure the curse properly. Now that they know what they're dealing with, they can start to take the right steps to research it and possibly undo it.
  • Lilith going to live with Gwen for a while so they can spend some quality time together. As she was about to leave, she does assure Hooty that they could always be in touch as pen pals (even though Hooty couldn't hold a pen due to having no limbs).
  • Gwen telling Luz about another human that lived in the Boiling Isles in the past, giving her a solid lead for getting back home!

Episode 5 - Through the Looking Glass Ruins
  • Though it starts off pretty sad, the fact Gus feels so terrible for causing a lot of trouble for Willow shows how much he treasures their friendship. Willow sending a message to try and comfort him in his depression is also a very touching moment.
    • In a similar vein, rather than get angry at Luz for talking him up as a powerful spellcaster, Gus knows she doesn't mean any harm and acknowledges that she's trying to help him, even though he's nervous that she just made things worse. In return, Luz reveals that she does know how to help, and gives him what's essentially a cheat sheet of glyphs so he can have a little fun pretending to be a mighty witch.
  • Stalker with a Crush he might be, but Warden Wrath's quick cameo confirms he cares about his son.
  • The Glandus students taking down a Slitherbeast that rampages through a town with ease while saving a small child.
  • Granted the Glandus kids just turn out to be grave robbers, Angmar has quite the soft spot for butterflies. His plans for the Galderstones is to use them to enhance his plant magic to make a butterfly sanctuary.
  • Mattholomule was once again a jerk a majority of this episode, but getting a slice of Humble Pie here and there helped mellow him out, and his decision to free Gus to repay him for freeing him from detention is rather touching. Though he's unsure by episode's end if he and Gus are friends now, they still share a rather adorable moment of banter.
  • Amity is nothing but patient with the little girl who stole her hairband to force to read the book she wants, never letting the smile leave her face. It just shows how good with kids she really is.
    • Fridge-Heartwarming-slash-Awesome: Despite that she came from a rather cruel upbringing, Amity apparently hasn't let her family's influence keep her from being kind and patient towards children. Instead, she uses her background to fuel herself to give the love and understanding kids deserve.
  • Luz's and Amity's relationship continues to grow this episode, now with Luz all flustered ever since "Escaping Expulsion". This is especially cute and funny now that Luz is on the other end with her acting all bashful and uncertain about her feelings, most notably when she sees Amity with her hair down and is left speechless.
    • Luz offers twice to drop the trek through the Forbidden Stacks in order to keep Amity from getting fired.
    • Luz says she'd like to show Amity around the human world. Given how Amity's face immediately lights up, she more than likely views that as a date. So, when she says "We're getting that diary!", what she's actually saying is "I'm getting that date!"
  • A minor example, but the fact that Edric and Emira first appeared in the episode with the former giving the latter a piggyback ride is its own kind of endearing.
  • Edric and Emira are full steam ahead on the S.S. Lumity this episode, with the odd teasing here and there, but obviously in full support of both Luz's and Amity's crushes on each other. They are even quick to vacate the scene to give the two lovebirds some quality time alone. The last scene even has Emira comfort Amity over her confusion with her feelings for Luz by saying it might not be all that bad. The two siblings even give their little sister a new hairstyle at her request, and are quick to applaud Amity for her bold move in kissing Luz on the cheek.
    • Considering how they've been since their debut episode, you can tell that they like how Amity has been coming into her own lately. Remember that their early antagonism towards their little sister is based on how uptight she was, much like how their mother is. While they initially used Luz to prank on their sister, they realized how much of an impact the human has brought on their little sister. As Emira had said, before Luz came, she wasn't happy before, and it seems they've finally awakened to what Amity's life was like growing up. They support their relationship not just because it's cute and they can get quick teases off of it, Luz truly makes Amity happy, and they want nothing more than to see her happy.
    • Emira brushing Amity's hair in and of itself is just adorable to watch.
  • Edric's upcoming date with an unnamed partner, and just how seriously he seems to take it. He seemed genuinely embarrassed when Emira started teasing him over a mistake he'd made, and almost panics at the prospect of getting dumped. It's obvious he cares about this person and wants it to work out.
  • Amity changing her hairstyle. Not only is she cutting herself off from her mother's influence (green), but she also doesn't copy her just-as-toxic father (brown, her natural hair color). Instead, she goes for something completely different: purple (specifically lilac), showing herself as her own person unrelated to either of the people trying to control her. Plus, Amity prefers to be more original.
    • Purple is the color of royalty, nobility, luxury, power, and ambition. All traits that fit a Blight. It also represents creativity, wisdom, dignity, mystery, independence, and magic. All traits that fit Amity to a T. Furthermore, it reminds the viewer of the Abomination Coven she is a part of, yes, but purple has also been used repeatedly as a color associated with Luz.
    • Light purple, in the form of lavender and lilac flowers, has been associated with the LGBT community—and with lesbians and queer women specifically—since Sappho.
  • Luz says she understands if Amity never wants to see her again, but she did a lot of chores for Malphas to convince him to hire Amity again, explaining it wasn't her fault. She even faced a paper dragon who wasn't "nice" in her words.
  • Luz making up with the echo mouse that ate most of Philip's diary, even booping its nose with her own, and hoping they can become great friends. This is followed by Amity reassuring her that she has "a way of sneaking into people's hearts" (obviously referring to her own), which leads immediately into, of course...
  • The Big Damn Kiss. It's merely on the cheek, but if there was ever any doubt left over whether or not the two would reciprocate each other's feelings, it would be immediately crushed here and now.
    • This becomes even more heartwarming (and a little sad) when one remembers Luz's life back in the human realm. Luz is seen as, at best, a nuisance by her peers and, if Camila is to be believed, has absolutely no human friends. Even in the Boiling Isles, her sole romantic interest prior to the Lumity kiss was an illusion. This is not only the first time she's met someone who has a crush on her, but this is also probably the first time she realized that she even can be romantically loved. She almost looks like she's about to cry Tears of Joy.
    • Better is taking into account the fact that Luz was under the assumption that Amity hates her for getting her fired. Even Luz knows, especially since Season 1, how upset and angry Amity gets when her reputation takes a hit and she loses things that are important to her. This kiss makes it clear that, even after screwing things up for her again, Amity doesn't hate her in the slightest. In fact, she was too busy analyzing her confused feelings to even be mad.
    • Even better, as mentioned above, from "Escaping Expulsion" to now, Luz has been blushing around Amity just as frequently as Amity has been doing around her. But when Amity kisses her, she doesn't blush at all, she instead glances at her and her eyes sparkle. This indicates that Luz has moved far beyond a simple crush and has straight-up fallen in love with Amity.
    • Even better still, some fans who were naturally rewatching the scene over and over again have noticed that Luz appears to be looking at Amity's mouth afterwards, implying that she was considering making it a full kiss, and that that's what made Amity panic.
    • After a long history of Disney lacking in LGBT+ representation, it's amazing to see its first major canonically LGBT+ couple have a Relationship Upgrade.
      • This last bit is heartwarming in itself in the sheer amount of praise it's getting, especially considering that Dana apparently fought tooth and nail for Lumity to be as blatant as it is. Dana put everything on the line, and her fans are loving her for it.

    Episode 6 - Hunting Palismen
  • Traditionally, a young Witch would gain their Palisman by carving a staff using wood from a specific tree; however said trees are becoming scarcer. Principal Bump reveals he has worked with Eda and the Bat Queen to come up with a solution: Palisman Adoption Day!
    • To elaborate, the Bat Queen (who in her second appearance is revealed to protect abandoned Palismen) brought several of them so they may find new partners after being without ones for so long. She is especially happy when Little Rascal (a red cardinal Palisman) finds a partner after what is implied to be very long time.
      • The Bat Queen even gives Eda another favor because she loves the idea so much.
    • Willow's deepest desire (which gets her a bumblebee palisman) is to be strong and wise enough to protect her friends and loved ones.
    • Despite causing every possible type of trouble when she was a student and her initial misgivings about the education system as an adult, Eda went through the trouble of planning the event so that the current generation of Hexside students, not just Luz, could have a chance to get their staffs. She even dresses up for the occasion and gives the introduction to the event. You could almost mistake her for a proper teacher.
    • Despite being a bully who blusters she'd rather not have a hand-me-down for a Palisman, Boscha instantly falls in love with the Palisman that chooses her and even blushes.
    • Generally, the whole thing has the wholesome feel of an animal shelter adoption event.
    • When Luz begins to realize that not only can she not bond with a Palisman because she doesn't have a long-term goal for her magic, but that she might have to choose between becoming a witch or going home to her mother, Eda immediately asks her if she's okay.
  • Despite hating the Golden Guard for understandable reasons, Luz refuses to let Kikimora assassinate him. Instead, she wakes him up, warns him about the incoming dragon trying to eat him, and accompanies him all the way to Latissa.
  • The Golden Guard, aka Hunter, is revealed to be a good-hearted teenager with a genuine interest in Wild Magic despite being the (adopted) nephew of Emperor Belos.
    • So much so, that Hunter spares Little Rascal being handed over to Emperor Belos. In turn, the little cardinal Palisman chooses him, since it sensed his deepest desire to study wild magic. If his wish to learn about wild magic could outweigh his servitude towards Emperor Belos, there's hope for him yet.
      • There's also the way he treats his new Palisman. When the bird shows up in his window, Hunter roughly grabs it in both hands and starts squeezing it, but apologizes and instantly lets go when it peeps in pain. He then gently pets its head while telling it that the castle is not a safe place for it to be. For someone who has been watching and helping his uncle devour Palismen for years, and who was afraid of Little Rascal earlier, he is incredibly gentle.
    • Alternatively, his wish to study wild magic is partly born from his wish to help his 'Uncle' Belos with his condition. Either way you look at it, Little Rascal's bond with Hunter was born because of Belos.
  • Though Luz may have failed to bond with a Palisman, Eda and King steal a block of wood for her so she can carve her own when she's ready.
    • There's also the principle that Eda got the rare Palisman wood despite coming up with Palisman adoption herself. Why? Because she recognizes that Luz needs time to figure out what she wants to do with her life as a witch, and her Palisman will need to be custom-made when the time comes.
  • The fact that Luz is letting Amity sort through her feelings and come to her when she's ready is a minor one as Luz's impulsive nature means that normally she'd just go confront Amity about the kiss as soon as she finished processing it. It shows how much Luz has grown and how much she cares about Amity that she's willing to wait.

    Episode 7 - Eda's Requiem
  • There's something sweet about Eda going over a list of domestic chores which contains tasks such as getting Luz a new coat, checking King for fleas, and paying the water bill. Even without realizing it, Eda has slid right into her role as the Team Mom of her Family of Choice.
  • Luz coaxing the scared Echo Mouse out with a carrot. Unfortunately, Hooty ruins things by eating it.
  • The B-Plot revolves around King trying to get a message to his missing father by getting on the local news. Luz tries to make this happen by entering the inter-school championship.
    • After the plan falls through, Eda helps him get the message out by sending it through social media. The message is shared throughout the Boiling Isles. Eventually, the message reaches an unknown demon with some very familiar features.
    • Eda overhears King apparently saying he's planning on moving out, and spends the rest of the episode avoiding him, not wanting to hear him say it directly. At the end of the episode he finally gets the chance to talk... Because he wants to change his last name to Clawthorne, only needing her signature to make it official. Cue Tears of Joy from the older witch, who finally gets a son.
    • The unspoken fact that zero indication that Luz had to fight-tooth-and-nail to compete despite being human and using someone else's Palisman. Any other show would have dedicated an entire episode to the plot of Luz just trying to get in, but nope. There was apparently no mention of trouble.
    • Principal Bump has zero lines but two heartwarming scenes. The first is when he approaches the principals from the competing schools and is shown to be quite friendly with them. The other is when Luz pulls a trick and gets a huge lead, with him cheering his human student on.
  • Raine Whispers, the newly appointed Head of the Bard Coven, is introduced this episode as both an old friend of Eda's as well as the secret leader of B.A.T.T. (Bards Against The Throne).
    • The Ship Tease between them and Eda is adorable to the point of matching Luz and Amity. They're constantly blushing around each other and they're reminiscing
    • When preparing their Heroic Sacrifice, Raine sees the photo of Eda, King, and Luz at Grom and their first reaction is to ask if she has kids. They also immediately stop her from sacrificing herself, recognizing that she's running away out of fear.
  • Amber is initially hostile toward Eda, but soon becomes one of her biggest supporters (to the point of calling her "Mama Eda").
  • The fact that Raine sees the picture of Eda with King and Luz and automatically assumes they’re her kids even if they clearly don’t look like they’re related to her. Eda knows they aren’t her biological children, but Raine can tell Eda loves the two as if they’re her own. Goes to show family doesn’t require blood—it requires love.
  • During King's livestream, there's a brief shot of Willow with her Palisman Clover, revealing that she already made them a pet bed.
    • Also watching the livestream is Amity and her older siblings, genuinely happy for King and his attempt to reach out to his long-lost father. It's especially touching considering how few interactions they've had with him.
    • Eberwolf is watching as well, and it's implied that he is touched by what he is seeing, meaning they're not so bad when acting beyond Belos's orders.
    • Also, Eberwolf is close enough to Raine that they can hear it as well. They just sacrificed a chance to complete their goal of crippling Belos's plan for the Day of Unity, all so that Eda wouldn't sacrifice herself and lose her children. Even though Raine's been captured, they get to hear a tender moment between Eda and those children so they know their sacrifice wasn't in vain.

Episode 8 - Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door
  • Hooty and Lilith are in communication with each other, and she's the one that gives him the advice that leads to the events of the episode.
    • The fact that Lilith's friendship with Hooty has genuinely changed him for the better. She gives him love and validation and that gives him the courage he needed to take action to help his other loved ones.
  • The entire episode is one long Moment of Heartwarming for Hooty and his fans. Despite the House Demon occasionally bringing others to the brink of insanity, this episode makes it clear that Hooty truly loves his friends and wants to help them.
    • Hooty has some Zany Schemes in play to try and help King, Eda and Luz, ranging from trying to help King find out what kind of Demon he is to getting Eda some rest via cookies laced with sleeping-nettles to building an entire Tunnel of Love for Luz and Amity.
    • At first it looks like all of Hooty's attempts to help his friends were in vain, making him have a tearful breakdown over thinking he is a failure and a curse. But as he, and the audience, find out he really did help his friends with their problems. King has a new Super-Scream, Eda finally managed to come to terms with the Owl Beast inside of her, and Luz and Amity become an Official Couple by the end of the episode.
  • Eda's confrontation with the Owl Beast. After at first blaming it for every bad thing that happened in her life, at the end of her dream Eda comes to realize the Owl Beast is stuck with her just like she is stuck with it. What follows is Eda for the first time ever reaching out for the Owl Beast. It ends up drinking some elixir out of her hand and curls up on her lap. Back in the real world, Eda now seems to be in control of the curse.
    • Eda's curse has been seen by many fans as a metaphor for chronic illness and someone struggling as their entire life seems to revolve around it. Seeing Eda come to terms with her Curse and accept it as part of herself, can be seen as a patient of such stopping defining themselves by their illness and refusing to let it stand in their way to happiness.
  • When King sees Luz and Amity about to be crushed by a hunk of stone, he uses his new Super-Scream to save them, with Love Bubbles appearing around them after he does.
  • If Emira and Edric set sail on it, then Hooty just became the full-blown Captain of the S.S. Lumity. Literally! He builds an entire Tunnel of Love just so the two can have a moment and help Luz confess her feelings.
  • Luz and Amity become an Official Couple, thanks to a Relationship Upgrade! Hooty crying Tears of Joy from being a Shipper on Deck for Luz and Amity just adds to how sweet it is.
    • Luz's build-up to asking Amity out has her state while she's unsure about her future, she wants Amity in it with her.
  • Luz being completely and blatantly in love with Amity, calling her a “cotton candy-haired goddess” at one point.
    • Luz still doesn't realize it, but Amity had feelings for her first. Amity uses this one opportunity finally to ask her out, resulting in Luz being unsatisfied because she wanted to do it. Despite Amity holding it all in and waiting so long for this, she humbly decides that Luz deserves to have this moment. Amity, of course, says yes with one of the biggest and cutest smiles we have seen from her.
    • Right after their Relationship Upgrade, Luz and Amity hold hands, blush, and both admit they feel terrified. Anyone who has ever been young and in love will understand 100% what they're going through.
    • While they were going in the Tunnel of Love, while Luz was cringing at the obvious gestures, Amity, while embarrassed, looked rather charmed by it all; remember that no one has ever shown that level of affection to her before, and to see that coming from the person she loves (as far as she knows), it's overwhelming and adorable.
  • While in the past, we also get a confirmation that, yes; Raine and Eda used to date.
    • On that note, there's the way Eda hugs her father when she second-hand sees him again. It's clear that she missed him and loved him very dearly. After years of keeping away from him because of what happened that night, it's heart melting to see her reunite with him for a brief moment.
  • As Hooty sums up how he helped the collective residents of the Owl House, we see how Eda forming a truce with the owl beast (and getting a Harpy form in the process) has greatly improved the quality of her life. While she still has to take her potion, she and the owl-beast can co-exist in peace for the time being, as opposed to taking the potion for the sake of periodically keeping the 'curse' at bay.
  • Eda's unquestioning support of Luz's crush on Amity, considering that she hasn't expressed much fondness for the girl in the past. Whatever Eda herself might feel about Amity, Luz's happiness is what matters here.
    • At first, Eda tells Luz to just let Hooty think he helped with whatever her problem is so he'll calm down. When Luz reveals Hooty was trying to get her to ask Amity to be her girlfriend, however, Eda then asks, "Do you wanna?" before giving her advice. Even though they really, really needed Hooty to stop freaking out, Eda would never expect Luz to ask someone out if she didn't actually want to.
    • Eda acknowledges that Hooty's rampage is hardly the ideal time for Luz to ask Amity on a date, but assures her it doesn't need to be perfect. In fact, Eda urges Luz to just tough it out and do it.
    • And her words to Hooty upon Luz's and Amity's successful Relationship Upgrade practically mirror the fanbase's thoughts...
Eda: Dang, Hooty. You really are something.
    • Hooty proving repeatedly that when it comes to Luz and Amity, he IS the fandom. Those Tears of Joy he has at their Relationship Upgrade? Go to any reaction video for the scene and you will see real-life fans practically having the same reaction.
Hooty: They're adorable and deserve all the happiness!
  • There's also the fact that despite their first interaction ending with her not liking him for rudely getting in her face twice, Amity doesn't get angry at him for kidnapping her. Amity accepts that she needed this experience to work out her feelings, and she just hadn't pushed herself enough to do so due to being stuck in her shell since "Through The Looking Glass Ruins".
    • Not to mention that Hooty doesn't hold her prior assault on him against her and calls her (and Luz) adorable and deserving of happiness.
  • As the demon who is presumably King's father gives Hooty a letter from him, he addresses him as "King Clawthorne". He recognizes that no matter the blood connection they have, let alone the fact that they are of the same species, Eda is still King's family and it is ultimately King's choice who his family is.

    Episode 9 - Eclipse Lake
  • Amity goes above and beyond her role as Luz's girlfriend when the latter gets sick with the common mold by checking on everyone's progress on fortifying the Owl House against possible attackers. It's honestly super sweet to see, especially with Amity's newfound confidence in hers and Luz's relationship.
    • Amity has a little Abomination just standing by Luz, waiting to give her tissues.
    • When the echo mouse reveals the location of Titan's Blood, a crucial element in creating a portal, Eda and King prepare to head out whilst Luz is kept home to recover. Amity immediately volunteers to join, seeing this as another chance for her to prove herself as an awesome girlfriend.
  • When Amity shows King the weird messages that Luz has been sending her and how she translated one of them as "Come back with results or we're done," King immediately rotates the device 90 degrees so Amity can read the actual messages. This not only helps Amity, but it shows King understands Luz so well he knows exactly how to read her emoji messages.
  • When the group arrives back at the Owl House, Luz immediately tackles her into a hug and says that she's glad that her awesome girlfriend is alright. Amity hugs her back, glad that she's feeling much better. If there's any doubts of how their relationship could go considering Amity's past tendencies to be ambivalent, it's evident their relationship, by far is very healthy.
  • On the other side, Hunter is desperate to prove himself worthy of Belos, swearing he can make up for his past failure. It's clearly a one-sided relationship, but the entire episode shows just how much Hunter cares about Belos' approval after all he's (supposedly) done for him.
    • Belos does show that, despite his relationship with Hunter not being a healthy one, he is not without humanity, for lack of a better term. When he notices that Hunter watched him try to open the portal, he lets the boy come close and fondly reminisces over the human realm for a moment, meaning he doesn't really mind Hunter snooping around. The way he gently talks to the boy, if one didn't know better, one would think this was simply an older relative casually conversing with a younger relative.
    • Belos' memories of the human world also come across as entirely genuine. He fondly recollects the color of the trees, and the way the nights are quiet. For someone who's lived on the Boiling Isles their entire life, a world where nights are quiet and rain is refreshing rather than a threat of death must sound like paradise.
  • Amity's new Palisman is a white cat called Ghost, who does what all cats do and brings her a dead bug as a gift. Amity, rather than being repulsed as she might've been in the past, finds it endearing and thanks Ghost with a loving chin scratch.
    • It's a small moment, but when Amity sees Ghost in staff form after Kikimora crashes, she reaches out and grabs her back with a smile.
  • Despite not having much of a role in this episode, seeing Willow, Gus, and Hooty work together to keep Luz both safe and comfortable is truly heartwarming, even if they were being rather irresponsible. These kids (and Hooty) are the best of friends.
  • When it's revealed Eclipse Lake had dried up long ago and there is no Titan's Blood, Hunter resigns himself to dig his own grave as he thinks he can't return to Belos empty-handed. Amity tries to show him some kindness not unlike how Luz would (even lampshading it at one point).
Amity: You were right. We do have a lot in common. I grew up thinking that everything was an opportunity to justify... existing. But there are people out there who won't make you feel worthless. You just... have to let yourself meet them.
    • When Hunter tries to bury himself, his Palisman is right there trying to pull him off the ground by his cloak, and trying to distract him enough that he stops piling dirt on his head. When Amity begins talking to Hunter, he flutters up to sit on her shoulder, as if to back up her statement. The little guy really does care for his witch, despite Hunter demanding the bird find someone better.
  • Hunter attacks Amity once he realizes she has the portal key, and eventually resorts to threatening Luz to get her to hand it over. When she does, he thanks her and begins walking away... before pausing and telling her that he sincerely meant that thank you.
  • When between a rock and a hard place, Eda admits she's tried everything to make the owl beast invoke her Harpy form, scaring it, yelling at it. Of all people, it's King who suggests she try talking to it. As opposed to the King who used to be focused on "commanding armies", this is a pretty empathic and mature suggestion coming from him.
    • When Eda justifies that she hasn't tried talking to the owl beast because she thinks of it as a wild animal, King once again exercises empathy when he remarks "You thought I was a wild animal once." He's letting her know that if she could communicate with him, she has a good chance of communicating with the owl beast as well.
  • Eda later reveals that the owl beast made a deal with her to cooperate as long as she ate a bunch of voles to satiate it. According to Eda, even she thinks that's a tall order to fulfill. As lofty as the deal is, she makes it all the same in order to save her beloved palisman Owlbert from snapping in half.
  • When Amity arrives at Eclipse Lake, or what's left of it, we finally see what's on the map Luz drew for her, a picture of a lake with a smiling Luz drawn in it, complete with a "u did it" on the side.
  • Hunter offering to dig a grave for Amity alongside him could be seen as this in a rather morbid way.
  • All of Luz's Tamagotchi messages are this once you learn how to read them. Her very first message of the episode translates to "U R PRETTY". Too bad Amity didn’t know how to properly read it.
    • The Tamagotchis are this themselves: since Amity doesn't have a cell phone and Luz can't use a scroll, the two came up with a (limited) way of sending each other messages. Nevermind the fact that they actually went out and tracked down two devices so they can do so (assuming they weren't part of the myriad of "human junk" Eda gathered over the years).
    • One of her messages to Amity is "Come Home", not "back", home. This with Willow's comment at the beginning of the episode indicates that Amity is now spending a lot more time at The Owl House, likely with Luz. Even sweeter is the implication that (even with the intention of returning to her mother somehow), Luz has come to think of the Owl House as her home as well.
  • Tying into how he and Amity are "not so different", Hunter realizes that though he cares about his uncle Belos, she's right about how there are better relationships to reach out to that won't force him to 'succeed' for the sake of respect. Quite the parallel to how Amity tried to please her parents and the Emperor's Coven before realizing Luz was more worthwhile.
    • By the end of the episode, Hunter seems to have taken this advice to heart at least a little, and when the cardinal Palisman flies up and perches on his hand, he doesn't attempt to make it leave like he did earlier. This small gesture apparently strengthens their bond enough that Hunter becomes able to understand his Palisman, something he seems to find genuinely cool.
Hunter: Oh, hey. You stuck with me the whole time, huh, bird?
      Palisman: (chirps)
Hunter: ...I think I understood that! I-is that your name? Can you say it again?
      Palisman: (chirps)
      Hunter: (laughs) Weird!

    Episode 10 - Yesterday’s Lie
  • Eda, King, and Hooty standing outside the Owl House, holding onto the rope tied to Luz, for what must have been at least an hour or two, ready to pull her back if she needs it.
  • A Freeze-Frame Bonus of the Noceda family fridge shows what looks like a Bisexual Pride flag magnet, implying that Luz is out to her mother, and that her mother is fully supportive of her daughter's sexuality.
  • Before performing a trial run on the door, Luz hugs her surrogate family, with Hooty included.
  • While Luz is understandably angry that someone stole her life, she takes a deep breath after lying to cover for Vee and asks for an explanation. She doesn't have a hateful bone in her body, except for anyone who has hurt Eda or King.
  • Luz pretty quickly realizes that while Vee may have been acting as an imposter, she isn't a bad person. After that the only thing Luz seems interested in is helping Vee better assimilate into human life.
  • Vee seems to have genuinely had a lot of fun at camp as Luz, having made friends with her cabin-mates and being genuinely happy to see them again.
  • At one point during her time as a captive, Vee refused to take part in one of the magic draining experiments and even tried to protect the very rats she was supposed to be feeding on. Even though she was clearly scared out of her mind and probably risking severe punishment, she didn't want innocent creatures to be hurt.
  • When Luz decides that she finally has to tell her mom the whole truth in order to save Vee, Camila is in their kitchen rummaging through the box of Luz's fantasy things that Vee had put on the curb earlier in the episode. Despite (what she thought was) her daughter claiming of wanting to make a new start, she knew that they were more important to her daughter than she (apparently) claimed.
  • Camila being the first person in Vee's life to show her kindness (so much so that Vee actually refers to her as "mom" on reflex when talking to Luz), it also really shows that despite their hang ups Luz and Camila did have a loving relationship. Later while Camila is at first off put by learning Vee was living in her house for months impersonating her daughter, it doesn't take much for her to warmly welcome the young basilisk into her home for real.
    • Not once does Camila refer to Vee as a monster or creature. Only as a strong girl and an innocent child. The former comment even makes Vee start to tear up.
    • Camila goes Mama Bear when she sees a Bound and Gagged Vee in the cage, and Jacob Hopkins reveals he wants to dissect the poor girl. All she needs is a sandal and focused rage. Jacob doesn't stand a chance. You can see where Luz inherited her fiery righteous spirit.
  • Although she sent her daughter to a summer camp to try and protect her from bullying, Camila loves Luz's creative side and happily plays along with what she thinks is a game Luz is playing. It's a subtle yet very sweet touch that shows Camila's kindness and tolerance.
    • And later, Camila tearfully reflects that although her daughter has ironically spent all this time in a place that encouraged her quirkiness, she's so proud that Luz grew to be mature, if on her own terms.
    • Although it's a sad scene, Camila assuming that Luz "chose" to live in the Demon Realm because she pushed her daughter away has a tinge of sweetness to it. If anything, we can assume this means she's acknowledging that sending her daughter to Reality Check camp was harsh on her part, and doesn't blame Luz for it either. As opposed to doubling down on the fantasy-forbidding mother viewpoint, she recognizes she was in the wrong.
  • Given that Luz lies to her Owl House family that her mother wants to meet everyone (and it's true, Camila will want to know who was taking care of her daughter), she at least wants to have a chance to explain the full story to Camila, and introduce everyone, Eda, King and Amity in particular to her.
  • When Vee goes to talk to the teenagers and ask about the Hexus Hold'em cards, Luz assumes she'll continue being out of her element and tries to talk her through a plan. When Vee brushes her off, Luz is genuinely concerned that Vee is going to embarrass herself. As in, Vee herself will deal with the embarrassment. Luz doesn't care at all about what Vee might do to her own reputation (not that she had a good reputation to begin with, or one she cared to take back, but still, Vee is using her identity).

Episode 11 - Follies At The Coven Day Parade
  • Amity is trying to learn Spanish to get closer to Luz, with Gus helping her by giving her a book. Luckily for Amity, while she calls Luz a "Sweet Potato" by mistake, since the book was a cookbook, Luz finds it sweet, even using the term for Amity while pecking her on the cheek.
    • As you would expect, Luz immediately becomes a Shipper on Deck for Eda and Raine once she learns about them. She convinces Eda to go along with the plan to help Kikimora by pointing out it would give her a few minutes to talk to Raine. "Isn't it worth the risk?"
  • Throughout the episode, Amity is, rightfully, convinced that something happened with Luz and her attempt to make a portal to the human world, compounded when she finds Luz's phone with the message to Camila on it. Though she's clearly tempted, Amity doesn't look at the video and instead just calmly talks to Luz about it at the end of the episode, finally getting her girlfriend to open up about it.
    • When Amity finally brings up the video Luz is clearly starting to panic, terrified at telling Amity anything about what happened. But Amity gently tells Luz that while she wants to be there for her girlfriend she's not going to push and will only go as fast with things as Luz is comfortable with. That reassurance is what leads Luz to telling Amity what happened.
    • Earlier on, when Amity goes to Willow for advice on whether she should watch the video or not, all Willow asks for in return is for Amity to braid her hair like she did when they were kids.
  • Amity knew where to find Luz because Luz's plan is copied from her favorite book and chapter in the Good Witch Azura series, and indeed is able to cite the book (5), chapter (8), and plot (disguising a rescue as a kidnapping). To make it even better, that was the exact same volume that led to the two of them becoming friends in the first place.
  • The fact that even though Kikimora works for the Emperor and has endangered her and her friends multiple times, Luz is still willing to try and help her leave her job so she can see her family again. It doesn't work out when Kikimora betrays her in favor of a promotion, but it shows that Luz was willing to give her a chance.
  • While it is sad that Raine refuses Eda's help of a rescue, since Raine has been brainwashed to serve the Emperor blindly, Eda immediately realizes that something is wrong when Raine says they haven't spoken for years, and doesn't remember being captured the month before. She tries to peacefully tell Raine that they were part of a Resistance and plays their song. Raine has to force her to leave, pressing the invisibility glyph into her hand when the guards come. Though Eda's shocked and heartbroken face is a Tear Jerker, we also see resolve as she plans to figure out what Kikimora and the Emperor did to her ex.
    • It's hinted that while Terra is brainwashing Raine with the herbal teas and potions, she wasn't able to erase Raine's love for Eda. Indeed, Eda notes that Raine could curbstomp her easily. While Raine ups their musical attacks at this goading, they still hold back. They also warn Eda to not try contacting them again because the Emperor's coven guards will arrest her, hinting that Raine's real memories are Fighting from the Inside.
  • A random person reacting to Belos taking off his mask by saying "We love you, Grandpa!"

Episode 12 - Elsewhere and Elsewhen
  • Among the recent additions to Luz's corkboard is Amity's glove, soaked in Titan's Blood — along with a reminder to herself to buy her girlfriend a new one.
    • There's also a note from King reminding Luz to drink water (though it initially said "blood"). He even signed it with a heart!
  • The party at the beginning, celebrating Lilith having gotten a new job. She is clearly uncomfortable, and the guests vary in importance (ranging from Lilith's parents, nephew and (honorary) niece and sister, to former co-workers and her apothecary), but she's still in attendance and Hooty is clearly happy about having a party for his best friend.
    • Despite her no longer being in service to the Emperor, Steve attends.
    Steve: Yeah! All hail Lulu!
    • Tiny Nose is also present, despite having no known connection to Lilith, presumably having been invited by Hooty, lending credence to the claim that they're friends.
  • When King hears that Dell is coming to visit, he gets excited about meeting what he considers his grandfather. Dell's later remark to Eda shows that he considers King his grandson as well.
  • Luz tells Lilith that she's started calling her "cool aunt Lilith" in her journal, and Lilith is clearly flattered by it.
    • Even moreso as this means Luz has completely forgiven Lilith for her past misdeeds. You better hope though, that Amity will accept Lilith being Luz’s new aunt, seeing how their last encounter went.
    • When Lilith says "Let's boogie down to history town" and does an awkward dance, Luz is completely and genuinely in awe of how cool she is. She isn't just being nice to Lilith, she genuinely thinks she's cool.
    • Doubles as Awesome, Lilith decking Philip in the nose for lying to Luz and trying to extort her. No one messes with her honorary niece.
    • Lilith being Luz's aunt confirms that Luz officially sees Eda as a second mother.
    • Generally, watching Lilith geek out and be a nerd feels like we're seeing the real Lilith Clawthorne, not Lilith the member of the Emperor's Coven. From wearing glasses like she did as a girl to squeeing over Deadwardian banisters, one gets the feeling this is who Lilith used to be, or rather, the intellectual she aspired to be.
  • Blink-and-You-Miss-It, but Lilith's palisman is finally seen off of the Raven Staff, no doubt after spending so long forced to stay inanimate on it during her Emperor's Coven days just to keep her palisman baby out of Belos's hands.
  • Eda and her father finally talk after what is implied to be decades of estrangement. Not to mention, them carving Owlbert together, plus the tower of the Owl House belonging to Dell means Eda had kept some mementos of him close to her.

Episode 13 - Any Sport In A Storm
  • Darius genuinely smiling when he recalls how the previous Golden Guard was his mentor and the strongest witch he ever knew.
  • A small moment, perhaps, but Boscha is notably far less aggressive towards Luz than she was in "Wing it Like Witches". Whereas before she was a Barbaric Bully happy to commit violence against her victims, she now limits herself to light riffing of Luz' favorite book. Babysteps, perhaps, but steps nonetheless.
  • Gus confronts Hunter about his unconvincing story, but doesn't sell him out. Right now, Hunter is helping Willow achieve her dream of having a Flyer Derby team, and Gus tells him not to ruin that.
  • Hunter becomes genuine friends with the other Emerald Entrails players, even being willing to stand up to Darius for them, and giving up the cloak he'd spent the entire episode trying to earn. It's genuinely heartwarming to see him make proper connections and form real, supportive relationships outside of the abusive one he grew up in.
    • Hunter's behavior while playing Flyer Derby is also completely different. As soon as the game starts, Hunter stops being awkward, standoffish and rude, starts smiling brightly and cheering on his teammates, and it's clear that we're seeing him genuinely enjoying himself for the first time in the whole show. When they win, he joins his team in cheering, and in their team photo he looks happier than we've ever seen him.
    • Even after Hunter betrayed and kidnapped them, the Entrails still forgive him and are more than happy to let him play on their team again. They also still keep the team's name even though Hunter was the one who came up with it.
  • A subtle one, but Hunter is clearly very comfortable riding his palisman staff. Compare this to his last appearance commenting that real staffs are "weird" and it's clear that he's been training with Flapjack.
  • Steve doesn't hold it against the kids for being punched by Skara and shares with Hunter feeling bad for them when he thinks that they are being recruited in the Emperor's Coven.
  • Darius gets a Pet the Dog moment by telling Hunter that he’s impressed that he’s actually made friends outside the coven, fixing up Hunter’s cape in the process. He was even going to drop the other teens off at Hexside instead of forcing them into the Emperor’s Coven.
  • Luz and Amity get a few cute moments together pursuing a clue pointing to the Azura books' author being able to travel between realms.
    • Luz calling Amity "Hermosa", meaning beautiful in Spanish. When they run off to meet the author they're holding hands and just ignore Boscha who yells that "they're not cute" out of frustration.
    • Despite not getting the answers they were hoping for, Amity and Luz end up having fun coming up with theories about the author of the Azura books, and even decide to change the direction of the club to focus on writing their own stories.
  • Darius at the end of the episode promises to keep Hunter's palisman a secret from the other Coven members despite all that Hunter did.

    Episode 14 - Reaching Out
  • It is implied that the Flapjack´s photo that Hunter mistakenly sent Luz was actually intended for Willow.
    • Willow continues in contact with Hunter.
    • Hunter allows Flapjack to sleep in his cape.
  • Eda shows plenty of potential as a Cool Teacher when she and King run into Edric, who they rope into helping them gather the ingredients for a "Blabber Serum" due to his more natural affinity with Beastkeeping Magic. Throughout she's encouraging and helps him with a much needed self-esteem boost.
    • When Edric lets on about his self-esteem issues and notes that he's happy he can actually do something without feeling like a screwup King is sympathetic to him, no doubt seeing some of his own issues in Edric's hangups.
    • After defeating the mutated Warden Wraith, Eda could've gotten understandably angry with Edric for messing with the potion; instead she compliments him on accidentally creating a potion she can sell and tells Edric that he's got a future in Wild Magic, even tossing him one of her "Bad Girl Coven" T-shirts. Edric for his part looks touched that someone's given him so much encouragement and doesn't even seem embarrassed at joining the "Bad Girls Coven."
    • Her relationship with Luz also gets touched such as the fact even the largely oblivious Alador knows that Luz is Eda's kid. Later she tells Alador he's on thin ice with her after what happened in "Escaping Expulsion" and one of the reasons Eda gives for why Wrath is going to help her is that he threatened her "student/child", Luz.
  • This Amity-centric episode has her taking important steps and moments with two of the most important people in her life: her girlfriend Luz and her father Alador.
    • The events of the episode get kicked off because Amity wants to attend the Bonesborough Brawl and even win just like her father did, which takes place the same day as tryouts for the Emperor's Coven. After he flat-out refuses, the first person she goes to is Luz, who naturally encourages her girlfriend to attend the tournament.
      • There's a small moment during Alador's refusal. While he dismisses his days as a Brawl Champion as him "goofing off" as a kid, there's a small smile on his face when Amity says she wants to bring home the belt like he did, implying that Alador has far more fond memories of those days than he's letting on and/or he's touched and flattered that his youngest daughter wants to follow in his footsteps.
    • When Luz, who decided to enter the tournament as well, makes her big entrance, Amity gets a Crush Blush being clearly awestruck at the sight.
    • Luz telling Amity that today was the day of her father's death and the reason she's been so weird, sharing with Amity something so deeply personal that she likely hasn't told anyone else, not even Eda. At the end of the episode, to make up for Luz not being able to do her traditional ritual with her mother, Amity helps Luz gather flowers and sends them into the sky with an Abomination balloon.
      • The reason Luz and her mother picked flowers for one another was because in life, her father use to gift them to his wife and daughter on their birthdays, even from the time Luz was an infant. Not only does it paint the late Manny Noceda as a loving father and devoted husband, but also speaks volumes on how important the flower-picking tradition is to Luz and her mom.
    • Just the way Amity (if hurriedly under dire circumstances) promises Luz she will not only find a way to somehow celebrate the memorial, but in such a way where Amity will "do something nice" with Luz to make up for her mother's absence.
    • There's some Fridge Heartwarming to Luz's actions mixed with Tearjerker: she wanted to help Amity connect with her father, in part because that's something that she can never truly do.
  • Amity almost instantly forgives Luz for lying after hearing about her father's death, and her promising to pick flowers with her to make up for not being able to do it with her mother shows how much Luz means to Amity and how much she still wants to be with her. Any fears about the future of their relationship quickly vanish after this.
    • While in the moment it's obviously also a Tearjerker, there's something very meaningful in the way that Amity doesn't instantly forgive Luz for lying to her. Obviously, Luz' white lie about not touching the Abomiton wasn't actually a major relationship-ending deception—she had no way of knowing that the alarm would actually alert Alador, rather than assuming Amity's concern was just about causing a scene. Having already silenced the alarm and thus dealt with the problem, it's entirely understandable for her to toss off a casual reassurance without thinking anything more of it. But it matters that Amity, who was hurt by the seemingly insignificant lie, feels safe enough with Luz to assert boundaries and trust that her feelings will be respected despite her emotionally abusive upbringing.
    • Luz clearly thinks so too. While she offers Amity an explanation of why she's been so off that day, she also immediately reassures her that the explanation is not intended as an excuse and acknowledges with no resentment that she should have behaved differently. It's the respect and lack of defensiveness that fix things between them, even before Luz gets around to telling her about her dad.
    • Amity's quick forgiveness of Luz could be attributed to her realizing that she unintentionally contributed to their difficulties as well by not learning about the anniversary of Manny's passing earlier.
  • After defeating the mutated Warden Wrath, Amity and her father finally manage to have a proper talk, with Alador even promising to talk to Odalia about her attempts to dye Amity's hair green again.
  • When Alador goes to hug Amity she stops him and settles for a handshake instead, saying his change of heart is a start for them. They may have a ways to go but Amity does show that she's willing to accept her father if he's serious about changing for the better.
    • Alador says that he likes Amity's new hair color, with a genuine smile, noting how it looks like abomination colors. He's also the first person to apparently figure out immediately that was the reason she chose it.
    • Worth noting is that Alador only pressed Amity to go to the Coven tryouts because he thought joining the Emperor's Coven was what Amity wanted. Misguided he may be, he was acting in what he thought was his daughter's interests, a marked difference from Odalia.
  • Emira takes Edric's Glamour charm so Amity can disguise herself for the fights, then willingly takes off her own to double up the power.
    • Both siblings encourage Amity's rebellious tendencies, showing that they're proud of her for asserting herself rather than just going along with what their parents want.
  • Upon seeing Amity's glamour disguise Luz picks her up in a hug that lifts her up and spins her around, gushing about how pretty she is.
    • It's also worth noting how the girls act so affectionate around the twins, who've proven they'd prompty tease them about such acts. This shows Ed & Em have known about Luz and Amity's relationship for awhile now and are happy they're finally dating, so they've probably stopped doing that altogether.
  • The last scene sees Luz grow some flowers while Amity ties it with an abomination balloon to send it to her mother, which they know is impossible but they understand the sentiment. We then see Camila putting a flower in a vase that looks similar to ones carried away by the abomination balloon.
    • We also see Vee in the background of the window, so while she may not have spent that day with her daughter, she didn't have to spend it alone.

    Episode 15 - Them's The Breaks Kid
  • Eda distracting Faust with a flying Grudgby ball so she and Lilith can sneak into school, then staying behind in order to make sure that Lilith doesn't get caught.
  • Seeing Darius, Alador and Odalia being close and having fun.
  • While she could have been lying to cover for herself, Eda claims that she flooded the detention hall with green jello because it was the detention monster's birthday and that he quite enjoyed the present.
  • Eda and Raine become fast friends once they meet at the convention.
  • At the end, despite not earning a ribbon, Eda gets to stay at Hexside with her sister, and Raine transfers in after losing their scholarship. Terra also apparently gets Faust to let up on Bump a bit and let him keep his job.
    • Despite Eda and Raine's stunt having most likely cost him his job, Bump tells Eda that he is so proud of her for doing the right thing and refusing to play Terra's game.
  • By the time Eda finishes her story, her audience has fallen asleep; Luz has her head on Eda's lap, King is also curled up on his mother's lap with the echo mouse sleeping on top of his skull and Hooty is curled around Eda. Her smile completes the family moment this scene encapsulates.
  • All in all, what did Eda telling the story about how she met Raine have to do with Luz? Eda misses Raine the same way Luz misses her mom. The whole point of telling that story was to share with Luz that it’s okay to miss the people you love, and how it’s important to keep close the good memories you’ve had with your loved ones, even if they are far from you.
  • Even though they still have their memories, Raine refuses to get Eda involved in things, wanting to keep her safe. They even pretend to have amnesia and pushed Eda away, all so that she wouldn't be in danger.
    • This could also be taking as them caring for Eda's kids, despite them never getting to know Luz and King. They know Eda has kids to take care of, so they know if something bad happened to Eda, not only would they lose someone close to them, but Luz and King would also lose a mother figure.

    Episode 16 - Hollow Mind
  • Luz is teaching King Spanish and starts wearing Eda's old sports jacket from this episode onward. She and King even now have walkie-talkies (shaped like bunnies no less!) to talk to each other.
  • Raine, Darius, and Eberwolf are working together against Belos, and covertly help Eda rescue Luz and Hunter by providing the potion needed to preform the return spell.
    • While fans already knew that Raine was still firmly on the side of good and Darius was implied to be working with them, Eberwolf's status can come as a nice surprise and put their interactions in "Eda's Requiem" in a new light.
    • When they overhear Hooty mention to Flapjack that "the angry blonde kid" (Hunter) is trapped in the Emperor's Mind, one of the cloaked figures (that's implied to be Darius) immediately pushes the other aside to get closer. Before that, he is clearly cautioning Raine against helping rescue Eda's student, only to become invested in doing the exact same thing the instant he hears that Hunter is also in danger, despite him crashing their earlier attempt to invade Belos' mind and attempting to arrest them. This implicitly shows that his friendship and concern for the young naive boy is genuine.
    • This gets even more heartwarming when you consider how Darius usually acts; Hunter seems to be well on his way to being a Morality Pet for Darius.
      • Not only that, but Darius going into Papa Wolf mode for Hunter is juxtaposed and paralleled to Belos in this episode. One father figure is genuine and the other is not.
    • When pursuing the section of Belos' mind that represents his Self-Serving Memory, Hunter finds an image of the day he was gifted his staff and the role of the Golden Guard by the emperor, noting to his surprise that Darius actually looks quite sad in the painting, though the audience doesn't get to see his expression clearly. Given that Darius clearly had fond memories of Hunter's predecessor and apparently acted dismissive towards Hunter for being too unlike him and mindlessly obedient towards Belos in "Any Sport in a Storm" it puts his interactions with Hunter in that episode in a whole new light. Just like he was doing with the Hexside students, Darius was trying to push Hunter away from his 'role' in the Emperor's coven, dissuading the young boy from becoming too involved in Belos' plans, apparently aware that he risked a similar ending as the last Guard by following Belos' orders until it was too late for him, and trying to guide him away from such a fate without exposing his own aims of rebelling against Belos at the time. Him showing happiness at Hunter's Character Development and willingness to think for himself is because Hunter did somewhat take his lesson to heart, though not enough to fully turn away from Belos... which backfired on him in this episode, as Belos ultimately decides that Hunter has become too independently-minded like his forbears and will need to be 'Replaced'. Regardless, its clear that Darius sees Hunter and the Golden Guards before him as their own people, rather than Belos, who sees them only as versions of his brother who continually fail to 'see the truth' and follow his will, explicitly trying to warp them into somebody who exists only within his twisted mind and failing, so it's good to see that Hunter has at least one adult figure out there looking out for him as his own person, rather than just an obedient minion.
  • Luz's and Hunter's Vitriolic Best Buds is on full display this episode. When ambushing him to ask for information, Luz calls him Hunter despite him being in his full Golden Guard getup, and Hunter is comfortable removing his mask around her (even if it's mostly to yell at her).
    • Despite getting increasingly mad at Hunter for his bullheadedness to Belos being evil and justifying helping him for the "greater good", Luz never loses faith that Hunter's a good person. This is shown when she sees a memory of the dismissive way that Belos treats him and the Day of Unity will definitely not be a good thing. Her reaction? To offer Hunter a place to stay in the Owl House and reassures him that Eda would understand once its explained.
      • ...and this is proven true when Eda tries to offer help to a clearly panicking Hunter after he and Luz are rescued. She had zero context for what happened during their trip through Belos' mind, all she saw was a poor scared kid that needed some help.
    • As Hunter and Luz get into position for Eda to activate her return spell and get them out of Belos' mindscape, Hunter crouches over Luz, as if to shield her with his body.
  • When Eda and King contact Luz and Hunter, the Golden Guard's first priority is to make sure his Palisman Flapjack (Lil' Rascal) is safe and reassures him that Hunter will be back safe soon. He even whispers to him that he loves him before signing off.
    • After he says that, not only Eda and King are charmed by it, but you can hear in the background Flapjack happily chirping back as a way to say “I love you, too”.
  • When it becomes clear that they need to use Luz's Titan Blood to get her and Hunter out of Belos' mind, Eda is initially reluctant because it's the only way Luz can get home.
  • Mixed with Tearjerker, but the Fridge Heartwarming that is tied into Luz's horrified-to-the-point-of-near-denial reaction to Belos really being Philip. Despite being disappointed that he was a manipulative liar, Luz couldn't imagine that Philip (a fellow human no less) was capable of being someone as evil as the Emperor.
  • Mainly extrapolated from various Freeze Frame Bonuses, but it's implied that Belos', really Philip's, unnamed brother developed a friendly relationship, possibly a romantic one, with a witch, and that they may have even had a child together.
    • A bit of Fridge Heartwarming and Fridge Awesome rolled into one, but Belos implied that every single one of the Golden Guards betrayed him before Hunter. It seems no matter how many times Philip tries to make a Grimwalker of his brother and mold him into a loyal servant to his twisted desires, the love of Magic and the Boiling Isles that drove a wedge between the two of them shines through in the end.
    • It's warped all to hell, but it's clear that Philip does hold some genuine love and attachment to his deceased sibling, even if he refuses to accept that he's trying to force him to be somebody he's not. The memories of their childhood show the brother apparently carving the wooden mask that Philip's child form wears and seems to be the inspiration for his current mask as Emperor Belos. Philip is seen looking on with jealousy and rage towards the brother's growing relationship with the witch, and is seen approaching the pair with a knife behind his back in one portrait, apparently intending to kill her and 'rescue' his brother from her 'manipulations'. This apparently turned into a lethal fight between the two, as it's implied that the brother refused to allow Philip to kill his lover, but couldn't bring himself to kill him in turn, ultimately losing his life to protect her. Philip seems to hold some level of guilt over this, as his creation of the grim walkers who would then go on to become the Golden Guards who would serve him in his plans are implied to be his attempts of resurrecting a version of his brother who would join him in his plans together, though it's continually hampered by his absolute refusal to accept that his brother didn't want the people of the Boiling Isles harmed, and willingness to kill the grim walkers every time they demonstrate the same moral scruples. Nonetheless, the fact that Philip has never stopped trying to bring his brother back shows that for all his evil, he can still care about others — its just that he can't comprehend why anyone would tolerate willingly living in the Boiling Isles and grow to care about the denizens as anything other than monsters who need to be exterminated.
    • The portraits also show that Even Evil Can Be Loved, with Philip's brother obviously adoring him. In two portraits, Philip is shown in a more outwardly monstrous form, complete with scary glowing eyes... and in the second of the two, his brother embraces him with a genuine smile, because he's still his brother.
  • As Hunter understandably has a panic attack after everything he just learned, Eda tells him to breathe. Despite the circumstances of their previous meetings, she can see that the Hunter who's hyperventilating in front of her is not an enemy, but rather a scared child in desperate need for support. She even extends her hand to him with a worried look on her face, even though she doesn't actually know what's wrong with him yet.

Episode 17 - Edge of The World
  • It's subtle but at the Internal Reveal you can see that Eda, King and Hooty tried to make everything as comfortable as possible for the stressed to her limit Luz, draping her with both Eda's jacket and a blanket, made her tea, and placed stuffed animals around her (King was probably behind that one). OWL FAMILY IS BEST FAMILY.
  • After explaining the events of what happened in Belos' mind, Luz immediately breaks down from guilt for being an Unwitting Pawn to Belos’ rise of power. Eda instructs King and Hooty to give her a hug to comfort her. Too bad that Hooty nearly strangles her because he was distracted by Lilith’s arrival.
  • While it failed spectacularly due to circumstances she couldn't have known about, Lilith was genuinely attempting to keep her niece and nephew safe and distracted from current events by sending them off on a wild goosechase to a place she thought would be safe.
  • King outright calling Luz his sister.
King: This is Luz the human-slash-friend-slash-sister.
  • The Titan Trappers clearly get along well with King, and vice versa. It's a shame that realizing what King truly is ruins that though.
    • In particular, despite learning that he is not in fact King's father, King quickly latches onto Tarak as a potential father figure, while Tarak himself seems to have no problem stepping into that role; he is nothing but kind and encouraging to King, eagerly teaches him about his people, and seems genuinely touched when King hesitantly asks to play catch with him. (Crossing over with Tearjerker, there's also a definite moment of hesitation and reluctance in Tarak's body language when he learns the truth about King, showing that he really had come to care about this child in the short time they had known each other.)
  • Hooty is in fine form this episode, doing his best to protect Luz and King with his life.
    • After they fall through the portal, he, in his typical Cloud Cuckoolander way, asks if Luz is alright, and is terrified about what happened to her missing arm. Even though Luz only ever had two arms, he was clearly very concerned when he thought she had lost one.
    • While Luz is fine with letting King go off to reconnect with who they think are his people, Hooty expresses concern about leaving him alone, showing that he really cares about King.
    • During the escape from the trappers, Hooty throws his own body in front of Luz and King to protect them, getting large scorchmarks from the trappers' spells. When they fall through the portal again, he ties his body to the finger, slowing Luz and King's fall. Finally, when the finger collapses, Hooty wraps himself around the two in a protective shell, saving their lives.
    • Even in the opening dream sequence, when King calls Luz, Hooty, and the Clawthornes his "owl family", Hooty becomes quietly overwhelmed with emotion. For all the times that they've bickered in the past, King still understands Hooty is his loving friend.
  • Fridge-Heartwarming: When Luz learns from the Elder Hunter that King is a Titan, she and Hooty don't pull any stops on protecting King from being sacrificed by the Titan Hunters. Bear in mind, this was before the two even started to question if Titans are Always Chaotic Evil. For all they knew, King was descended from world-ending monsters. Yet, Luz and Hooty stuck out their necks to protect him. Looks like Luz kept her promise: "You may have been alone before, but you have us now. Whatever we find won't change that."
  • Although the context of it is rife with Tear Jerker material, King meekly greeting the Boiling Isles (aka the Titan aka at the very least his kin and possibly even his true father) is kind of sweet in its own way. Not only is he "meeting" one of his own kind proper, but there's something gentle about the music that drives home how (if posthumously) King's birth family was with him all this time.
    King: ...Um, hi.
  • Although it doesn't last long, Bill's immediate agreement to help Luz fight against Belos is nice especially given how the Owl House Crew had a lot of recent issues with finding help against Belos given all the people who turned to joining the Covens and receive brands out of fear.

    Episode 18 - Labyrinth Runners
  • The opening shows us how Gus & Willow first met. It kicks off with Gus having a panic attack as he is taken advantage of yet again by his classmates. As he becomes trapped in his own illusions of self-doubt, Willow finds him, breaks through the illusion and teaches him a breathing method to help stave off the attacks.
  • Mattholomule is revealed to have become a multi-track student and has started studying illusions, no doubt because of seeing Gus in action during "Through the Looking Glass Ruins". A photo in the illusion of Gus' room also shows the two of them together at what appears to be Mattholomule's birthday party.
  • Like Matt, Edric and Emira have also started officially studying tracks they showed an interest in in "Reaching Out". In addition to both still being illusion students and wearing the corresponding light blue pants, Edric wears beastkeeping and potion colors as his shirt sleeves, based on what Eda advised him, and Emira wears healing blue as her sleeves.
  • The Illusion Track home room teacher and Principal Bump both say they are glad to see so many students embracing multi-tracks. Though Bump thought the idea would be more trouble than it was worth at first, he now says that the students have never been this excited with their work before.
  • Even in what was supposed to be an urgent message involving the fate of the entire Demon Realm, Luz still took the time to send her girlfriend a string of heart emojis, showing that Luz loves Amity more than she fears Belos.
    • One of the messages Amity does manage to decipher from Luz is "Don't scare him away", which is obviously about Hunter. This shows that Luz not only thought to warn her friends ahead of time to protect him, even if she didn't communicate that clearly, but that she suspected Hunter would likely find his way to them.
  • Gus, after Flapjack leads him to Hunter, and he realizes that the latter witch is hiding out at Hexside, gives Hunter his lunch without asking anything in return. As a result, Hunter ends up blowing his cover to save Gus from Graye. Gus even lampshades how it's a lot for just giving him a sandwich.
    • Speaking of Flapjack, he's definitely small, fast and smart enough to get Gus off his trail if he wants to. The fact that he didn't try to shake him, and flew right back to Hunter's hiding place, indicates that him luring Gus there was a deliberate choice. Like in most situations, Flapjack knows exactly who to turn to in order to find Hunter the help he so sorely needs.
  • After Gus asks if Hunter knows where Luz is Hunter responds by asking "she's not with the owl lady?" with a concerned tone. This shows he's come to care about Luz to some degree after what they went through together in "Hollow Mind".
  • Despite their intentions, the Emperor's Coven scouts are genuinely relieved to see Hunter alive and well, and concerned for his wellbeing.
  • After learning that Belos is looking for him, Hunter begins to panic and hyperventilate. Despite having zero clue what is happening, Gus sits down with him, guides him through the breathing exercise Willow taught him, and tries to get Hunter to open up to him. When Hunter refuses, Gus gives him a pep talk, without pushing him into telling him anything.
Gus: Not too long ago, when I showed a little talent and started taking more advanced classes, I always felt like anyone who wanted to be my friend had an ulterior motive. Until I met Willow, and eventually Luz, and some others. So yeah, not everybody's great. But not everyone's bad either, y'know? And for what it's worth, you can trust me. I promise not to mess with you.
Hunter: That's not worth anything. Stop acting foolish.
Gus: Alright, tough guy. Let's keep moving, then.
    • Later, after Gus has a breakdown and becomes trapped in his own illusions, Hunter returns the favor. He manages to break through, even overcoming his own traumatic memories of the events of "Hollow Mind", and opens up to Gus in return.
Hunter: It's... hard, when you can't trust yourself. I spent my whole life believing I was doing something good, for someone good. But it was a lie. And some part of me still wants to believe in that lie. Just like you wanna believe you're dumb, or whatever. But it's not true! I promise. I wouldn't mess with you.
  • How does Hunter realize he's talking to a fake Willow? Because he knows Willow is a person that wouldn't be so easily spooked by their current circumstances, or even afraid of him. He's only known the side of Willow after her Character Development, so this indicates he has a great deal of respect for her courage.
  • After Hunter is knocked out by Graye's scouts, he wakes up in the Healing Homeroom, where he's immediately greeted by Flapjack, Viney, and Skara, who catch him and calm him down when he panics and nearly faceplants while trying to run. Principal Bump explains to him that while he was out, the Flyer Derby team spotted him and decided to save him. Despite the fact that he tried to kidnap them during their last meeting, and the fact that they clearly don't fully trust him yet, they still risked their necks to rescue one of their own.
  • During the fight against the Coven scouts, there's a moment where Emira stops to heal Skara after she gets knocked to the floor along with Viney, then Amity saves them from an incoming scout and exchanges smiles with her sister and the two Flyer Derby members.
  • Amity and Willow fully reconciling and working in tandem to defeat a Coven scout.
  • Willow and Gus giving Hunter what is implied to be his first hug ever.
  • As they watch the coven scouts leaving, Hunter asks Gus if he thinks that Graye would be alright to which Gus answers with "Uh... probably?" before they both share a laugh. It comes to show how close they became in the episode despite previously being enemies.

Episode 19 - O Titan, Where Art Thou
  • When Luz disembarks, she sees that Amity has sent her an emoji message letting her know that she is safe, complete with lots of hearts like Luz sent Amity in the previous episode.
    • King offers to travel to The Owl House alone so that Luz can go and check on her girlfriend. Luz, however, is more concerned about King after what they just went through with the Titan Trappers and sticks with him.
  • It's subtle, but when Luz is about to reveal that King is a Titan to Eda and Lilith, she quickly checks to make sure that he's okay with it first.
  • Eda and Lilith haven't been able to come up with a plan to stop Belos or the Day of Unity, so she decides to try and give her adopted kids just one day not to worry and asks what they would want to do. While King wants some alone time, Luz, seeing that Francois was taken when the Owl House was raided, decides to go on a heist to retrieve him for King.
  • When on a walk to clear his mind, King runs into Steve...who has left the Emperor's Coven after deciding it wasn't at all what he thought it would be. For no particular reason besides King was feeling down, the former Scout gives the young Titan a ride on his motorcycle around the Isles to cheer him up as they spend the day exploring.
    • One highlight of the trip has King hugging part of the rib cage of what could possibly be his ancestor or possibly even his father.
    • Another scene has King and Steve helping fix the cart of a demon parent and child on their Day of Unity pilgrimage to the head, the two groups cheerfully waving goodbye to each other. King then notices a puddle and lies down in it in the exact same pose as the Isles itself.
    • When Lilith and Hooty finally catch up to them, Steve notices that Lilith seems to be going through some problems and offers to recommend her a therapist he's been seeing.
  • Eda, terrified that something will happen to Luz and King, is willing to turn herself into Raine if it means that they'll keep the two of them safe.
    • When Raine explains how they haven't been brainwashed but acting, Eda doesn't get hypocritically mad at them. In fact, it causes her to have a Jerkass Realization about how she was doing the same to Luz by lying to keep her safe.
  • Eda indirectly calling King her son when she reminds Lilith he’s technically her nephew.
  • Amber, Katya, and Derwin are safe and sound with the rest of the C.A.T.T.s, which is reassuring after their ambiguous fates in "Eda's Requiem". They all even greet Luz (who has only met Katya) cheerfully.
  • Darius and Eberwolf reveal that were Good All Along, having already been suspicious of the Day of Unity and actually only captured Raine and their allies to protect them from a harsh punishment.
  • Luz and Eda end the episode about to carve the latter's Palisman, with Eda reassuring Luz that she's sure that said Palisman will like her. King even points out that Luz would have no problem:
King: By my count, you've befriended more enemies than I have claws on my paw.
    • Eda teaching Luz how to carve her Palisman when you remember that the former's father was the one to teach Eda, and given Eda has made it clear that she sees Luz as her kid, this moment isn't one between a teacher and her student. It's between a mother and daughter as a family legacy is passed down to a new generation.

Episode 20 - Clouds on the Horizon
  • Mixed with Awesome. It is revealed that Alador made a "deal" with Odalia to follow her orders so that their kids will be prevented from a more "active" role in Blight Industries. This is one of the most prominent scenes that shows the former at full Papa Wolf mode.
  • The. Big. Damn. Kiss:
    • Amity & Luz finally reunite after the latter's trip to the Titan Trappers and both are overjoyed to see each other again. The couple makes a promise to go on a normal, no-stakes date once everything is over, before having their first proper onscreen kiss with each other.
    • Initially Edric and Emira are there in Amity's room and tries to comfort her by asking their sister what Luz might say in this situation, then while on her rant they notice that Luz is there and slip out. When Amity realizes that Luz is there they immediately hug while the latter calls the former "Sweet Potato".
    • The whole scene is filled to the brim with typical romantic trappings. Luz first sees Amity through a window and smiles while blushing and after she uses her plant glyph to get up to her room it's seen to have bloomed with a multitude of flowers, making it look like Luz brought a whole garden's worth for her girlfriend. Sure, you can say Luz was showing off by making her rescue attempt like a typical Save the Princess kind of story, but Luz wanted to give Amity something she'll always remember, plus it's been well established that Amity actually likes Luz's dorky antics so Luz presenting herself as Amity's Knight in Shining Armor is actually exactly the kind of thing Amity is into, thus showing how well Luz knows her girlfriend.
  • Luz carves her Palistrom log… into an egg, so that her Palisman can choose for itself what it wants to be, just like she did when she chose to be a witch, which is so just like Luz to think in that way.
    • One of the Central Themes of the series is being allowed to Be Yourself, with the series starting with Luz being sent to a summer camp to curb her eccentric tendencies. In letting her Palisman choose their own fate, Luz is giving them the chance she's had to fight to earn.
    • Once Eda gives her the egg, Luz declares she loves them already and kisses the top of their shell.
  • After leaving the headquarters, Katya drops Luz off in the forest to meet her security escort. Luz insists she doesn't need one... until it's revealed that her security escort consists of Willow and Gus, who are later joined by Hunter. Instantly, she runs over to them and tackles them into an overjoyed, tearful hug.
    • Hunter and Gus have clearly hit it off since "Labyrinth Runners," engaging in good-natured ribbing and even performing a Secret Handshake. Willow's expression of fond exasperation says that this has become a running theme between the two of them.
      • Said Secret Handshake has another heartwarming element to it — it's implied that the palms of Hunter's hands are very sensitive, as he's been seen grabbing at his hands and wincing in pain after a handshake or a high-five, and never takes off his gloves. Gus has clearly picked up on this, as their handshake consists of a fist bump, a headbutt, and a mimed explosion, none of which require him to touch the painful parts of Hunter's hands.
    • Fridge Heartwarming: Hunter's overall wellbeing has improved significantly since his last appearance. The scratches on his face have healed, his hair is clean, he's wearing new, clean clothes, his eye bags are smaller and less pronounced, and he's significantly calmer and more confident, even in situations that have proven to be very triggering for him. Wherever he ended up going after "Labyrinth Runners", someone clearly made sure he was well taken care of.
    • According to Katya, Darius insisted on Luz having an "escort" and Hunter was apparently the one to ask her friends to come with, and it is directly said that Darius ordered Hunter to protect Luz. Sometime between Hunter's last appearance and now, he and Darius talked things out and Hunter appears to have complete trust in Darius. Not only does Darius know Hunter is safe but trusted him with protecting Luz as she went to rescue Amity from Blight Manor.
      • Not only that, it is heavily implied the reason Darius insisted on Hunter going with Luz is to keep him away from the Titan's head and busy while the adults execute the plan. This parallels Eda convincing Luz to go rescue Amity from grounding in an attempt to get her away from the main conflict. Darius is truly Hunter's Parental Substitute and is a Papa Wolf for him. And this is without them appearing on screen together.
  • Hunter wants to keep his status as a Grimwalker a secret for now, despite Luz's insistence that Willow and Gus will understand, pointing out that she hasn't told them about aiding Philip/Belos in the past. Rather than blackmailing her with this, however, he genuinely asks her to keep it a secret until he can figure out who and what he's supposed to be.
  • During his conversation with King, Alador gives a sincere admission about his negligence as a parent and vows to spend more time with his kids once the Day of Unity is over. When he learns that there won't be an "after" if the Day of Unity takes place, he immediately takes action in an effort to stop it from passing, showing that his heart is in the right place.
    • While established in "Reaching Out", this episode really stresses the point that Alador is just an example of an overworked father that feels disconnected from his family and genuinely wants what's best for his kids, loving them no matter their choices.
    • While Odalia expresses disapproval of Luz being Amity's girlfriend, Alador makes it a point of telling the human she is always welcomed in their family. A second later, it's revealed to be Hunter in disguise, but the sentiment was genuine on elder Blight's part, and there's no reason what he said shouldn’t apply to Hunter either.
      • A small twisted one, but the fact that Odalia is not homophobic (because Luz is a girl) nor racist (because she's human) but just doesn't like the idea of her daughter dating a criminal (or rather an enemy of Belos). It doesn't do anything to redeem her in anyway but at least even she have some standards.
    • Amity having the unwavering faith that Alador would help if he knew about the day of Unity and is repeatedly proven right first when he expresses disgust that his wife knew all along and turns against Odalia. Then he joins his daughter and friends to rescue Luz and the rest of the C.A.T.T.s from Belos and his forces. And when he remarks about how terrifying it was to confront Odalia, Amity holds his arm to comfort him.
  • After seeing Edric and Emira get captured and taken away by the Abomaton 2.0s, Amity immediately calls out to them out of concern for their well-being and becomes enraged when Odalia casually tells her that she's just going to ground them again.
    • If the viewers look carefully, they can see that Luz and Gus getting just as worried about the twins as Amity is. This becomes more heartwarming once one thinks about the reasons why. Luz became fast friends with Ed and Em during their first meeting, despite unknowingly being a part of a prank for Amity. And even though Gus had very little interactions with them other than being in the same classes, he still shows that he cares about the twins regardless.
  • After being captured by Odalia, the kids are shown to be incredibly protective over one another.
    • Odalia begins scolding Amity for making the family look bad, and calls Luz a brat when she tries to intervene. Amity is so enraged by this she starts screaming at her mother to stop talking to her girlfriend like that, and when Odalia offers to find her a new girlfriend who "isn't on Wanted-posters everywhere", Amity breaks out of her restraints with an enraged scream and starts furiously punching the bubble.
    • Kikimora starts to gloat over Hunter, saying that as soon as she hands him over, Belos is probably gonna snap him in half. Seeing Hunter's terrified expression, Luz jumps between the two and yells at Kiki to leave him alone. Later, she devises a plan to protect Hunter by getting Gus to switch their appearances — meaning she got captured by Kiki instead of him.
      • Relatedly, the episode ending reveals that Hunter wasn't in on the switch and only noticed his altered appearances when Kikimora grabbed the "wrong" Hunter — which also means he got to see everybody instantly rushing after "him" to save him from somebody who means him harm. Hunter's self-esteem issues surely got a curbing seeing his friends put themselves on the line for his sake without a second thought like that.
      • This is probably the first time anyone has ever stood up for Hunter in this context, and while this information is sad on its own, it still means Hunter is finally with people who give a damn about his well-being and don't expect him to face his abuser before he's ready.
    • Crosses over with funny, but after the force field imprisoning the kids shatters, Amity wonders if she did it through sheer determination. Alador corrects that it was actually him, but adds that she almost had it, showing his attempts in making amends with his children.
  • Comparatively minor, but during the fight with Kikimora, Alador protects King and moved him out of harm's way despite only having just met him earlier.

    Episode 21 - King's Tide
  • Aside from Clover, the other Palismen of the group start the episode sleeping in a pile together.
  • After spending hours flying and stressing about how to save Luz, tensions on the airship come to a head. Hunter and Alador get into a shouting match, quickly joined by Gus and Amity. Willow and their Palismen step in and offer them some food, at which point they stop, reflect on what just happened, and decide to have something to eat and work together properly instead of fighting. It's a nice subversion of Plot-Mandated Friendship Failure.
Amity: Look... We're all exhausted and terrified. Let's focus our energy on helping Luz instead of fighting each other.
    • The fight originally started because Hunter kept interfering with Alador's flying and insinuating he could get them to the Head faster if he was allowed at the controls, causing Alador to snap at him. After Hunter has eaten, Alador gently takes him by the shoulder and lets him steer the airship himself.
    • Alador uses his abomination goop to create mittens for Amity's hands when she's cold. This also leads to the realization from Amity of how she originally got her nickname.
    • Gus and Hunter give each other a friendship reaffirming fist bump after the fight. It's sweet to see how far their friendship has come since "Labyrinth Runners".
  • Before she goes off to take her place in the Draining Spell Eda and Lilith say goodbye to each other with Lilith running up to give her a hug and Eda giving her big sister comforting words in the form of a spell. It really shows how far their relationship has come since last season.
Eda: Don't worry Lilly. With this spell declared/promise I'll be back.
Lilith: (With a Broken Smile) That's not a spell, doesn't even rhyme.
  • Eda finally showing Hooty affection by giving him a kiss on the forehead.
  • Despite their animosity, Darius instantly stops his attack on the other coven heads when Eberwolf's life is threatened.
  • Despite how horrifyingly sociopathic they are, the Collector is so genuinely happy to meet King, saying how they have always wanted to play with him, but his dad hid him away.
  • Belos genuinely offers to send Luz home when he has her at his mercy, with no benefit to him other than being able to "save" another human. Somewhat undermined once he changes his mind after Luz questions his humanity, though Belos actually looks sad at what he's about to do.
  • Luz all but admitting that she belongs on the Boiling Isles is this considering where she was at when the story started.
    Belos: We. Don't. Belong here!
    Luz: I'm not like you!
  • Luz got a head start on honoring her mentor's legacy by copying her signature fire spells (complete with catchphrase) just in case... worse comes to worse.
  • It is Tear Jerker for sure, but Hunter running up to Darius, dropping to his knees, and begging him to wake up is also heartwarming. Considering that Darius is a Parental Substitute and Papa Wolf for Hunter, it is heartwarming to see Hunter return that care fiercely. It shows the two have grown very close and have come a long way from where they were at the beginning of "Any Sport in a Storm".
    • Earlier, in the same chain of scenes, we see Alador handing his Remote over to Amity and preparing to stay behind to fight off the Abomatons alone. While this is all a Tear Jerker, Amity's refusal to leave her Dad behind is still sweet. She has to be bodily dragged away by Willow to keep her moving.
      • Added to that Alador just gives her a kiss on the forehead as what seems to be a last Goodbye to his daughter. It shows that, despite his mistakes and horrible marriage, Alador loves his children fiercely.
  • Raine fulfilling their promise to Luz and saving Eda from the interaction of the Draining Spell and curse by removing her Coven sigil arm. It disintegrates in their hand, and with the last of their strength, they crawl closer to lay their head down in Eda's lap before passing out.
  • During the fight against Belos, Hunter's sigil has begun to consume his arm but he still spends the fight protecting Gus and Willow.
  • It's a small thing, but when the Collector meets King and realizes he's the son of the Titan who imprisoned him, one might think he might blame the young Titan for his father's actions. Instead, Collector is ecstatic that he finally gets to meet King and immediately wants to play with him. After King frees him, and when the young Titan reminds the deity of his promise to save the inhabitants of the Isles to prevent him from a game of "tag" with Luz and her friends, the Collector is genuinely happy to see him again after dealing with Belos. Granted, this is more or less how he interacts with everyone around him, but considering how King honored his side of their pact right after making it, after Belos spent centuries forcing the Collector to honor his end of their deal while never intending to honor his own, the childlike god is genuinely happy to have a playmate who honors their "pinky swear" and is at least willing to spend time playing with him, even if it's not for the reason he thinks.
  • It's also a Tearjerker, but as King makes his Heroic Sacrifice, he tells Luz that he's happy to have had her as a big sister.
    • There's honestly a whole load of Fridge-Heartwarming in this moment; Luz has always been someone who put other people before herself and doing what she can to help them, even if it means throwing herself into the lion's den. King taking action in a way that guarantees she will be safe shows he learned from the best and is repaying her for all the times she did it for him.
    • From the way King speaks and refers to himself in the past tense ("I'm so happy I had you as a big sister"), one can deduce that it doesn't seem like he thinks he's going to survive being with The Collector. He very well might, but the sheer fact that he doesn't think he will and still chose to give himself up to save Luz regardless definitely qualifies.
  • The episode ends with Camila opening the door to see her daughter, home at last. Beyond that, though it came about in the absolutely worst possible way, Luz can now introduce her mother and Vee to at least some of her friends, including her girlfriend.
  • Just the fact that Luz doesn't have to be alone after this tragic incident, knowing her friends are safe by her side, is at least comforting considering, as far as they know, everyone else in the Boiling Isles is trapped with a manic god-like being.
  • While the scene is still a tearjerker, toward the end we see Hunter putting a comforting arm around Gus who earlier had a breakdown.
  • While technically not from the episode itself, this piece of art from Dana Terrace showing Luz and the gang all huddled together after the events of the episode. It's undoubtedly a Tear Jerker, as Luz and Hunter are awake and don't look much better than they did at the end of the episode, and the other three can't be in a good emotional state because their families are trapped in what is likely now a World of Chaos; however, as shown by Amity clinging to Luz and Hunter comforting Willow and Gus, at least they have each other. To top it off, the image also shows Vee sleeping next to Amity seemingly after helping bandage their wounds, showing that she is part of the True Companions.

Season 3

Episode 1 - Thanks To Them
  • The fact that Camila immediately takes the witch kids under her wing. She makes them food, tells them to take their time about telling her what happened to the Boiling Isles, and gives them all a place to sleep (Amity and Willow in Luz and Vee's room, Hunter and Gus in the basement). Even though she's unnerved by their magic, she takes them in and treats them as her own, just like she did with Vee, even going so far as to refer to herself as "a mother of six."
  • Doubles as Tearjerker. Hunter and Luz form a bond over their respective secrets — Hunter over the fact that he's a Grimwalker clone of a witch hunter, Luz over the fact that she helped Belos find the Collector — and agree to keep the other's secrets until they're ready to tell everyone else. While both are clearly struggling with severe self-worth issues, they're still trying to be there for each other.
  • A few Freeze Frame Bonuses are seen seen when Camila checks on the girls in Luz's room:
    • First, the scene shows that all of Luz's memorabilia and belongings that Vee threw away in "Yesterday's Lie" have been returned to their proper place, showing that either Vee or Camila put them back once they knew Luz would return eventually.
    • And when Camila closes the door, a note on the wall reads "Welcome Home Luz! We Missed You! - V ♡" This is the only scene that hints that Vee has come to see what Camila means to Luz and vice versa.
  • The montage of the months following the arrival in Gravesfield is equally filled with heartwarming moments.
    • Luz comes out as bisexual to her mother, and announces her relationship with Amity via a home-made video filled with pictures of them doing romantic things together. Camila is not just supportive, she's overjoyed, and immediately squeezes both Luz and Amity into a hug while Gus runs around summoning bi flag-waving illusions of himself under a giant rainbow. In her next appearance, Camila is even wearing a heart-shaped pride pin!
      • The fact that Luz doesn't at all appear nervous during her coming out. Instead, she's smiling as she delivers the news, probably knowing that her mother would absolutely support her sexuality and her relationship.
    • As the kids begins making blueprints for a new portal, Willow, Gus and Amity each draw and hang up pictures of their families as motivation. Willow's drawing even has her fathers saying "We're fine Willow" while Amity's only has Alador, Edric and Emira on it, proving she sees them as her only family now that she's permanently cut Odalia out of her life, doubling as a Moment of Awesome.
    • Vee changes her human disguise to look less like Luz, and more like the person she wants to be. Camila immediately goes in for a hug when she sees her adopted daughter's new look.
    • Hunter freaks out when he sees flashes of Caleb and Belos in the mirror, and Willow catches him in the middle of chopping his own hair off. The scene then cuts to a now calm Hunter sitting on the toilet seat, blushing furiously while Willow cuts his hair for him.
    • Gus, Willow, Amity and Hunter decide to bake something for Luz and Camila. The result frankly looks terrible, but it's hard not to smile at their excited faces.
    • There's also the scene of the Hexsquad playing in the rain. Luz convinces Amity that the rain isn't dangerous, and pulls her outside to dance in it. Vee immediately follows them while jumping for joy, and while Hunter is weighing his options from the doorway, Gus runs up behind him and tackles him into the mud. Willow and Camila watch them play, and Camila even hands Willow a polaroid camera to capture the moment.
    • Finally, in the scene of Luz drawing in her notebook, the page that isn't visible to the one showing Eda and King shows drawings of Hooty, Lilith and Owlbert. And although the picture of Hooty that Luz may have drawn on the cabin door is pretty creepy, it's a good demonstration that she misses all of them just as much as she does King and Eda.
  • The fact that Hunter finally gets to experience a (relatively) normal childhood, being allowed to just goof around with people who genuinely care about him, without fearing he'll get hurt. While he's still clearly struggling with his trauma, wearing silly costumes and baking cakes with his friends is the happiest we have ever seen him.
Hunter: (looking at himself in his Cosmic Frontier cosplay in the mirror) You know...maybe you're right, Flap. Even if I'm not who I'm supposed to be... (smiles) I like who I am right now.
  • Hunter and Gus's heart to heart in the basement. Hunter talks about his past in the Emperor's coven and Gus talks about how much he misses his dad.
    • Gus shares his new interest with Hunter, a book called Cosmic Frontier. Gus looks absolutely ecstatic that the next day when he sees Hunter has gotten hooked on the book and dressed in Cosmic Frontier cosplay.
  • Camila makes every effort to take good care of the kids from the Demon Realm, even reflecting that she's now a mother of six. Wishing she could make some food that they're used to, she asks Luz if her friends would like to drink blood—and then says, with complete sincerity, that if that's the case, she'll find a way to make it happen. Later, we see Camila sitting up in bed, looking over what appear to be extensive notes detailing the food the witch kids can eat.
  • Although Camila's dream is still a nightmare, it makes it clear that Camila loves Luz and her quirks, even laughing and noting that her scene with the sausage guts in the Romeo and Juliet performance was something Luz's father taught her, and even her sending Luz to camp was motivated by a desire to help her and avoid the issues Camila herself had in high school.
  • When Luz enters Camila's bedroom, we see that Camila has grown close enough to Vee that she now has a picture of them together on her wall next to a photo of her and Luz. Additionally, that shot also shows that Camila bought books titled Parenting LGBTQ and Always My Child, showing her dedication to giving Luz all the support she needs after coming out to her.
  • Hunter has gotten some hobbies during his stay, one of which being sewing. Camila apparently showed him how to use the sewing machine in the basement, and he's clearly enjoying himself by sewing pictures of things he likes onto his clothes.
Hunter: (holding up a shirt) These are mystical beasts called "wolves", and... (whispers; eyes sparkling) I love them.
Gus: That looks great! Y'know... You've been smiling a lot more since we've been here.
Hunter: It's- It's not like I don't wanna return! I just, uh... Need a way to pass the time. That's all.
Gus: No! It's good to see you happy.
  • It's very subtly implied that Gus knows Hunter is a grimwalker. When they first start talking in the basement Hunter mentions he misses knowing who he should be, afterwards Gus give a sideway glance, like he wants to tell Hunter something but is conflicted on whether he should. When talking about Cosmic Frontier, Gus mentions a Chief Engineer O'Bailey who is a clone to get Hunter interested. He specifically emphasizes that the character is a clone to Hunter. Later when they talk again about Cosmic Frontier, Gus says he thinks Captain Avery (the character that Gus dresses up as) already knows that O'Bailey (the character that Hunter dresses as) is a clone, before Hunter cuts him off with a No Spoiler warning.
    • Confirmed in "For the Future", where Gus admits that he had indeed known since the Day of Unity, but had wanted to let Hunter make the decision to tell him on his own terms, while still hinting that he wouldn't care Hunter is a clone and also putting it out there that him being a clone isn't a bad thing.
  • Vee, although clearly nervous, is willing to return to the Gravesfield Historical Society, and risk confronting Jacob again, if it means her new friends can find a way home, even though Willow makes it clear that she doesn't need to go if she doesn't want to.
    • Also, much smaller, but the employers at the museum accepted Masha's gender identity and put their pronouns on their name plaque.
  • Vee's nervous blushing when Masha offers to be her tour guide hints that she's attracted to them.
  • Doubles as a Tear Jerker: When Luz outright tells Hunter that she considers him family, he takes a moment to process this, then quietly breaks down in tears. For someone who has been so horribly mistreated by someone he considered family, being told that he has a new family that accepts him for who he is and wants to see him safe and happy is completely overwhelming, in a good way.
Hunter: I just want to make sure everyone's safe.
Luz: Same. (gives him a friendly punch on the arm) And that includes you, too.
    Hunter: What?
Luz: Yeah. Gonna make sure you're safe too, Hunter. You're family now.
    Hunter: ...Oh.
    • Becomes even more heartwarming when you realize that this is the first time we've ever seen Hunter cry. Considering the environment he grew up in, it's likely he's never felt safe enough to express that kind of vulnerability, so the fact that he not only feels comfortable enough to cry in front of Luz, but is also able to crack a joke about how his mask is gross now afterwards, says a lot about how far he's come.
    • While this happens, Luz just remains silent and pulls him into a side-hug as a non-verbal way to tell him that it’s okay to let it all out.
  • While they only have a few on-screen interactions, there's a notable contrast between how Hunter presents himself around Camila on the first night at her house versus after the time skip. Initially Hunter is still in his Child Soldier mentality, treating Camila as the local authority figure and speaking to her in a formal, deferential manner; months later, he's clearly grown much more comfortable with her, shown in a brief scene where the two pass each other and exchange soft smiles, while Camila gives him a casual, affectionate pat on the shoulder. It's never explicitly stated, but it seems likely that Luz isn't the only Noceda who has come to see Hunter as part of their family.
  • When Camila sees Luz's video diary, it's revealed that she first developed an interest in The Good Witch Azura because her father gave her a copy of the first volume as a gift. The diary also reveals Luz read the first book right after he died, and her next entry has her in full Squee mode, because she instantly fell in love with it. As the videos continue, we see her room becoming covered in Azura merch. Looks like Manny knew his daughter well. In a mix of sweet and sad, it's heavily implied the Azura books were Luz's primary source of comfort and happiness after Manny's passing, both for the escapism and the connection to him, as well as the good story. Not only that, but the Azura books also led her to her girlfriend, Amity (who goes to the Haunted Hayride with Luz dressed as Hecate and Azura).
    • The diary also shows Camila how much Luz cares about being a witch, and how torn up she is about helping Belos. Camila immediately rushes to not only stop Luz from declaring that she won't go back to the Demon Realm, but to join her when she does go.
  • Flapjack's Heroic Sacrifice doubles as a Tear Jerker. He and Hunter were both mortally wounded by Belos, and the Hexsquad and Camila don't know what to do to help them. With the last of his strength, Flapjack flutters over to Hunter, curls up on his chest, and lets his owner absorb his lifeforce, dying in the process.
    • As Hunter is waking up, Camila talks to him gently as he comes to, calling him "baby" and asking him if he's in pain anywhere.
    • Hunter is shown grieving his Palisman heavily, grabbing at his chest multiple times, as if trying to feel Flapjack's presence there. He's the first through the portal, audibly holding back tears.
Hunter: Time to go home, Flap.
  • Even after Belos reveals to the Hexsquad that Luz indirectly helped him with his rise of power and meeting the Collector, not only do they let Luz tell her side of the story for explanation, but, much to her surprise, they immediately understand that she has no fault in this mess, since they know that Philip/Belos is very good at manipulating everyone around him for his own gain, and if it wasn't her, it would be someone else to be tricked by him anyway. Hunter even points out that "someone else" wouldn't be alive to fight back.
  • Before going through the portal, Amity paraphrases what Luz said to her when she first asked her out and kisses her on the cheek to show that they're still good and that she still loves her.
  • Vee elects to stay behind to cover for Camila while she's away in the Demon Realm. After Camila gives her instructions on what to do in her absence, she gives Vee a hug and thanks her.
    • None of the characters nor the narrative shame Vee for not being ready to face returning to the Demon Realm, clearly valuing her mental health and validating her trauma.
  • After months away from their home, the Hexsquad finally have a way to the Boiling Isles. It may be a dangerous battle that lies ahead, but it's more hopeful than the ending of "King's Tide" where they were safe but uncertain and scarred. They'll be returning to reclaim the Isles!
  • The credits show a number of drawings of the Hexsquad's lives on Earth. One of them is of Vee on what appears to be a date with Masha in the days between the museum visit and Halloween.
  • Despite the depressive state she's in, Luz is still able to smile and have fun, as shown in the photos and the montage. What's even sweeter is that it's usually seeing and/or spending time with Amity that makes her smile, proving that part of her old energetic and happy self still exists.
  • Luz's school locker has a number of things connected to both Eda and King - a newspaper about capturing Eda during one of her many escapades on Earth, a King designed paper mache, Luz's numerous personal drawings of the two, and etc.
    • It's hard to notice but Luz also has the Grom picture of her and Amity in her locker as well.

Episode 2 - For the Future
  • Lilith referring to King as her nephew. This is the first time she’s done so, and she couldn’t be any prouder.
  • When the Collector fires at the pair, Hooty shields Lilith without so much as a moment of hesitation.
  • When Eda turns into her harpy mode in order to attack the Collector, Raine is looking at her with adoring eyes, clearly liking what they see.
  • Camila trying her hardest to be supportive of the Demon Realm in all its slimy, stinky grossness. Though it's transparent she's just pretending to like it, one can't deny she's being pretty open-minded for Luz's sake, all things considered.
    • Even more heartwarming: remember back in "Enchanting Grom Fight" when Luz imagined her mother being so close-minded about the Boiling Isles that she'd call it "this terrible place" upon arrival? The real Camila treats it rather receptively. Guess she's come a long way from Luz's presumption.
  • Cat pulled off a Taking the Bullet to save Boscha from becoming a puppet, and it's clear that losing her and Amelia affected Boscha more than she likes to admit.
  • Edric is so happy to see Amity again that he further injures himself, despite already being a Bandage Mummy, in order to hug her for the first time in months.
    • In general, the reunion between the three siblings is adorable, with Emira rushing to hug her little sister (and spins her around), Amity exclaiming "Em!" and crying Tears of Joy before embracing her siblings in a Group Hug, which both happily reciprocate. They've come a long way since "Lost in Language".
      Amity: Come here, you weirdos!
  • After Bump is turned into a puppet defending Hexside, the students immortalize his sacrifice by erecting a massive statue of him doing a sick skateboard trick, with an epitaph that refers to him as "THE COOLEST PRINCIPAL EVER."
  • When Camila sees King for the first time, though from a distance, she has the same reaction Luz did when she first met the little guy.
    Camila: ¡Ay, que lindo!
    • Also, when Camila asks for confirmation about whether he's the one that Luz told her so much about, Luz actually smiles at getting to see her little brother again for the first time in months in spite of the circumstances and her still drowning in guilt.
  • King realizing that he and the Collector are a lot more alike than he originally thought, which is why he wants to try diplomacy instead of just attacking them.
  • Although the context is rather sobering, Eda remarks to King that the reason she risks leaving her cage every now and again is to visit with Raine, if for a little bit. Bear in mind that at this point, Raine has been turned into a puppet alongside the other former coven heads. And yet, for a puppet, Eda's still smitten at even a chance of seeing her beloved.
  • Hooty somehow being conscious enough upon hearing Lilith's voice to speak to her in puppet form.
    • The fact King went out of his way to get Hooty and bring him to Eda and Lilith.
  • While in Mattholomule's secret hideout, Willow finds an adorable picture of Hunter and Flapjack, taken during their Flyer Derby game. She eventually gifts it to Hunter, so that he has something to remember Flapjack by.
  • Willow has been trying to hold it together the whole time, even though she's seen one of her dads as a puppet, and is obviously struggling under the strain of trying to manage everyone's problems herself. After getting thrown into the detention pit by Boscha and Kikimora, Willow has a breakdown and starts suffering from severe Power Incontinence, ensnaring herself, Gus and Hunter in vines. She eventually admits that she can't do this, and calls herself half-a-witch Willow before becoming fully engulfed. Cue Hunter, who manages to tap into the magic Flapjack gave him when they merged to burst out of the vines keeping him trapped and tear Willow free.
Hunter: (tearfully) You didn't make anything worse, you didn't do anything wrong! You guys mean the world to me, and I- I didn't know how to say that yet. Just please, don't call yourself that ever again. You've been holding in a lot, haven't you...?
Gus: (struggling against the vines) Willow! Reliable people need someone to rely on too! Just let it out, we'll be fine!
Willow: (sobbing) I miss my dads!
    • Later, when the kids are at the Head, Willow takes Hunter aside to tell him she appreciates what he said, and that he means a lot to her too. Hunter promptly tears up, and the two of them flush bright red and lock pinkies.
  • Amity has every reason to hate Boscha, but in her fight with Boscha, she won not with her magic, but with her heart. Amity just doesn't have it in her to hate or be angry towards her former friend—she chooses empathy. The empathy Amity shows for Boscha's plight, her understanding of what she's going through between herself leaving and losing Cat and Amelia, and calmly telling her that Amity isn't like her is what ultimately convinces Boscha to switch sides. Amity's come a long way since dating Luz, and this is one of the things that rubbed off on her is the idea that there's more power in love and kindness to others.
  • Luz's Palisman egg finally hatches after she and Camila have a long-overdue heart-to-heart where Luz truly feels understood. When said Palisman reveals herself to be a "snakeshifter" named "Stringbean", Luz is gushing, the other Palismen go to play with their new friend, Hunter gets misty-eyed as he finally remembers Flapjack in a non-traumatic way, and Camila is overwhelmed by their cuteness.
Camila: (in Spanish) Oh, look at all of mama's precious babies! Come here, come here!
    • Merely summarizing this conversation doesn't do it the justice that it deserves, so here it is in full:
Luz: (distraught) My whole plan fell apart, I messed up again! (angrily throws away her witch hat)
Camila: What are you talking about?
      Luz: It doesn't matter.
(Luz starts to walk off, but Camila reaches out and catches her hand)
Camila: No, mija, it does matter.
(Camila pulls Luz back down to her)
Camila: You don't want to leave the Demon Realm, do you?
      Luz: Of course not! But-
Camila: You keep messing up? Messing up is a part of living. You don't think I've ever messed up before? Once, I scheduled my wisdom tooth surgery a day before my wedding. Then there was that time I got road rage and didn't realize I was cursing out your principal. And, you know, I sold energy drinks for a pyramid scheme for three years! And of course, I was convinced that we should move to Gravesfield to be closer to that fancy hospital... you know how that ended.
(they both tear up at the mention of Luz's father)
Camila: (further tearing up) And worst of all, I didn't stand up for you when you needed me most... I forgot about the Astro Oath.
      Luz: (surprised) The what?
Camila: (walking over to Luz's hat) The Astro Oath is a promise made between Captain Avery and his family, to love and protect each other just as they are, through supernovas and solar winds.
(Camila picks up the witch hat)
(Luz is now smiling widely as Camila returns with her hat and puts it back on her head)
Camila: I had a hard time growing up. I was afraid you would too. My biggest mistake was trying to protect you, by changing this beautiful good witch into something she wasn’t.
(Luz's Palisman egg starts to hatch, and continues to do so as she speaks)
Luz: (tearing up) I think I just... realized something. I don't know why it took me so long to figure out... the only thing I've ever really wanted... was to be understood.
(at this epiphany, Luz's Palisman hatches in an explosion of purple light)
  • In the previous episode, Camila was established to be rather shy about her status as a Cosmic Frontier fan, denying knowing anything about it and pretending that they just happened to be there by chance and nervously laughing. Here, she decides to reveal herself as a fan to cheer up her daughter and bond with her, Hunter, and Gus, to the joy of all three when they each find out.
  • The very nature of Stringbean being a snake-shifter. Luz's friends (and the audience as a whole) guessed what kind of animal Luz's palisman would be, from bats, to cats, to snakes, to everything else in between. Stringbean being a shapeshifter makes it so that this guessing game has no losers: for all intents and purposes, everyone's guess is the right one because Stringbean can be any of them.
  • Before, Luz pulled away when Amity kissed her head because she didn’t feel like she deserved the affection. After her Palisman hatches, she interlocks hands with Amity and leans on her, showing that she’s starting to forgive herself.
    • The fact that Luz has begun to smile more following the hatching of her Palisman also shows that she’s starting to regain some of her old self.
  • Throughout the episode, the Collector is shown to have some good qualities that separate them from their own kind. Allowing Eda not to become a puppet at King’s request, accepting that King wants to keep Francois (still requesting to have Francois at the nightstand to watch over them), showing sympathy when King mentions his race was wiped out, and King hugging a beast form Eda. All of this indicates that the Collector isn’t a bad person and has the potential to be a good person if guided.
    • During their playtime with Terra, what enraged Collector wasn’t being called a brat, but when she insults King.

Episode 3 - Watching and Dreaming
  • When the episode first aired on Disney channel, it's preceded by a clip show of scenes from across the series, noting how the fans were there throughout Luz and company's adventures, and thanking them for joining her for "one last flight home".
  • When The Collector captures the Hexsquad (save Luz), Camila is seen clutching the kids' palismen as an attempt to protect them from his grasp.
    • In the same scene, when Hunter is the first of the group to get "Collected", Willow tries to reach out to him in an attempt to rescue him. Though it doesn't work, at least she did try to save him, especially after telling him that he meant a lot to her.
  • As soon as Luz realizes that her friends are being mind-controlled based on Amity's misquote, she also realizes that they won't actually attack her, and fight off what's controlling them. Though she initially genuinely believes that they will try to hurt her and even winces when she tests the possibility, she is proven right, and her friends manage to stop themselves from hurting her and regain control of their minds long enough to help her break out of the nightmare.
    • The fact that Luz was able to determine that her friends were being controlled based on the misquote, and then confirming that Amity is physically present shows just how well she has come to know her girlfriend and her friends to know that they're not actually angry at her and will fight the control to the extent they won't hurt her.
  • The long-awaited Big Damn Reunion between Eda, King, and Luz. All of it.
    • The moment he realizes that she's truly back, King tackle-hugs Luz, Tears of Joy on both of their faces.
    • Eda is quick to join the Group Hug and tearfully showers both King and Luz in kisses. She's just so relieved that both of her kids are safe.
    • Eda and King (and much to the fandom's joy, Owlbert) finally meet Stringbean. Eda just has this look of pure pride on her face. Her student has come such a long way.
  • There's a brief moment when Belos-possessed-Raine picks up Francois while talking to the Collector. Upon seeing this, the Collector angrily snatches the doll out of Belos's hand before gently returning him to his place on the nightstand because they know that King doesn't let anyone but Luz touch him.
  • Even though Belos managed to convince the Collector that Eda, Luz, and King are conspiring against them and suggests killing them, the Collector reveals that they still want to genuinely befriend the trio and is still generally averse to killing, even though they equate death to breaking a fixable toy.
  • Even though it has mixed results, Luz shows the Collector the true reason her adventures at the Owl House are so special. She shares photos at each landmark to give context on why she loves the Boiling Isles, and along the way shares what it means to be human. All the while, she passes on her viewpoint on compassion and forgiveness.
  • Although it ends badly, it really shows just how much the Collector has grown in a short amount of time when they try to follow the example of the Owl House residents and show Belos "forgiveness and kindness".
    • When Collector realizes how badly that backfired, Luz comforts and even encourages that they did good, letting them know they really did do "the right thing", all the while gently explaining that Belos is "a little more complicated". She knows what it's like to make mistakes and blame herself for wrongfully giving Phillip the olive branch, so she's being patient with Collector.
      • It's implied from this that she's also learned to forgive herself for her mistakes, encouraging the Collector to not blame themself for what they did. It seems that Camila's words managed to stick. The fact that earlier her friends getting captured by the Collector didn't trigger a Heroic BSoD and her standard Guilt Complex also hint at this.
  • Luz ends up taking a blow for the Collector, and as she vanishes her last words are an apology to King and Eda that they'll be separated again.
    • Although it's sobering, Luz realizes to herself that if she had a second chance at sharing some last words with Eda and King, it would've been to thank them for everything they ever did for her.
      • And later, she does get to thank them! (See below).
    • When Eda and King start to go on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge against Belos, Eda quickly gives a warning to the Collector to go hide, not wanting them to get harmed in the blind fury.
    • It's of course mainly a combination of Tear Jerker and Nightmare Fuel, but just the fact that Eda and King love Luz so much that they even would go into Unstoppable Rage to the extent of full-on Superpowered Evil Side. Glowing eyes, extra teeth, double to triple their sizes each, you name it. They love her.
  • The Collector, realizing how death works for mortals after Luz's seeming demise, goes to keep the Archives from falling, even though they're impaired by Belos's Meat Moss, saving everyone in the Isles still in it.
    • Earlier than that, once it sinks in for the Collector that death for mortals is (normally) irreversible, their general attitude drastically transforms. They treat mortals less like toys to break and replace, and more like people to be more mindful of. The key moment is when they notice Belos's Meat Moss is creeping onto Owl-Beast-Eda (who's too blind with rage to notice) and frantically removes the moss, even knowing it could weaken them. They've quickly caught on to the value of life.
    • Although undeniably sad, the Collector grieving and being affected by Luz's death at all speaks volumes of how quickly she grew on them for them to not only miss her terribly but want to avoid "losing" either King or Eda.
  • The Titan saving Luz's spirit, reassuring her that she's better than Belos is, and using his last bit of life before Belos takes full control of his body to send her back, trusting her to be able to stop him, and making it clear that he won't force her to do it. Then, before she goes back, Luz gets him to give her a message to pass on to King. We don't hear what it is at the time, but Luz tears up and remarks, "Oh... he'll love that."
    • As the Titan's spirit leaves Luz's body after the battle, King finally gets to meet his dad for the first (and last) time.
    • After everything is said and done, we learn that he said "I loaf you," which King recognizes as a bread pun. Naturally, he loves it.
    • The Titan in general has a feel-good presence to him. We've spent the entire series traversing the corpse of a grand giant whose body produces magic and who would've stood above the clouds when he was alive, and the first time we hear him speak? His voice has the deepness and grandeur you'd expect of what is essentially the god of the demon realm; but is also incredibly warm, gentle, comforting, and friendly. He's been resisting passing on to the afterlife so he can watch his son grow up, and praises Eda and Luz for the way they've made his son feel loved in his absence. He shows remorse for trapping The Collector as collateral damage in the Titan-Collector war, but is sure to let Luz know that their mistakes come from a place of genuine concern and love. His entire scene is a pure showcase of unfettered paternal affection, exactly what you'd hope a truly benevolent god to be like.
  • Once it truly sinks in for Eda and King that Luz is alive, both almost instantly calm down, with Eda outright crying Tears of Joy when she realizes that her surrogate daughter is alive.
  • Despite the high stakes, Luz, Eda, and King are clearly having a blast during their fight with Belos, happy that Luz is back and that they're fighting together once more.
    • First we have Luz struggling to make a spell circle for the first time, only for Eda to grab her hand and guide her through it.
    • Then she joins King in shouting "WEH!" to push back the Meat Moss with their Super-Scream abilities.
    • With the two also sharing a Headbutt of Love after the fact.
    • Finally, they use Stringbean to form a massive spell circle in the sky, dancing around each other with grins as they spin. All the while, Eda helps with the spell, giving a sense that alongside her surrogate daughter, Eda got to vicariously use magic one last time.
    • Before finally settling things at the Titan's heart, they all fly to space and are in awe of the sight of the Boiling Isles before them, one last reminder of what they are fighting for.
    • There's also something strangely wholesome about how the trio come to the same conclusion that Belos is hiding "where all magic comes from":
      All three: From the Heart!
      • When Luz reminds her of the very first magic lesson she taught her, Eda has the biggest grin on her face and her feathers even ruffle up a bit. She is just so damn proud of her student/surrogate daughter.
  • Once Raine realizes Eda came to rescue them, they admit that, while her new harpy form is taking a bit of time to get used to, they don't care and are just happy to see her. Eda, for her part, is pretty happy to see them too.
  • "Do not underestimate me, Belos! For I am the Good Witch Luz, child of the Human Realm, student of the Demon Realm, and Warrior of Peace! (...) Now eat this, Sucka!!"
    • Normally, it's been previously said as a comical and cheesy mood-killer that borders on Running Gag. But this time, not only is it Luz's battle cry, but it comes back one last time to let the audience know her dreams of becoming a good witch are realized.
    • It's for a split second, but just as Luz jumps off Stringbean to grab onto Belos' decrepit ribcage and yank him out, her Snakeshifter companion turns back into Palisman form and takes refuge in her now-poofier wild hairdo, calling back to how Luz hoped one day to also be capable of the Clawthornes' ability to hide stuff in their hair, and showing that that day, and her dreams of being a true witch, is now.
Luz: Someday, my hair is gonna be long enough to do that, too.
  • The very aftermath of the battle. As Belos's Meat Moss all fades away into dust, the audience is treated to a quiet montage of the Boiling Isles quickly reviving, as though his ghastly pestilence never was. Between the gentle music score and the visual of everyone marveling at this triumph, this allows it to sink in for the audience: it's over; the Boiling Isles is free from Belos's control.
  • After the climax, Luz, Eda and King take the time to recline in the grass and savor what they've just accomplished: they've foiled Belos (to say the least), freed the Boiling Isles from his grasp, saved everyone in the Demon Realm, and (against all odds) found each other once more. That last one means more to Luz than anything, because they fulfilled what they promised at the very start of the series: "Us weirdos have to stick together."
  • After Belos' defeat, the Hexsquad look over to the exhausted Collector who upon seeing them approach them starts cowering, fearing they might attack them only for Amity to extend her hand out to help them get up with a smile on her face. Later when everyone is reunited at the Owl House, Amity can be seen chatting happily with the Collector tying back to her fondness for kids.
  • After everyone is returned to normal and Belos is defeated, we get a montage of everyone reuniting with their lost loved ones.
    • Gus uses his illusion magic to make copies of himself while reuniting with his dad. The latter is smiling and crying Tears of Joy all throughout, unfazed that he has to hug his way through all these illusions.
    • Hunter staying with Willow until he helps spot her fathers. When he does, she runs to them for a tight hug. Gilbert and Harvey even share a kiss to commemorate the reunion, and it's a full side profile kiss.
    • Once Willow breaks off from him, Hunter's left standing alone. He looks down at the floor sadly, clearly thinking nobody will come to see him... Until Darius affectionately pats his head, with Eberwolf on his shoulder. Hunter's mood immediately shifts to pure joy as he gestures to his homemade shirt and starts explaining what wolves are.
Luz: (narrating) And if someone thought they had no-one waiting for them, well... They were in for a nice surprise.
    • Amity rushing to her father and hugging him.
      • Although, we never got to see it, but it is implied that Alador also managed to reconcile with Edric and Emira when they reunited offscreen. The epilogue even showed the three standing together at Luz's belated Quinceanera.
    • When Steve is set free from his puppet form, he gives Lilith a big hug. Lilith, while a little shocked at first, happily returns it.
    • The Hexside students all cheer for the return of Principal Bump. When he shows Amelia and Cat are with him, Boscha aggressively pushes her way through the crowd to tackle hug her teammates, all while crying Tears of Joy and giving a genuine, relieved smile.
  • Later we see The Collector return to The Owl House reuniting Luz, Eda, and King with the rest of their loved ones, even reuniting Lilith with Hooty.
    • Eda helping Raine onto her makeshift owl nest bed. And for a brief moment, the two hold each other.
    • Upon seeing her girlfriend, Luz proceeds to run to Amity, who for once is the one to lift her off her feet, before they share a kiss.
      • What's more, while their first kiss unambiguously happened in "Clouds on the Horizon" it was obscured by being a partially rear-profile kiss partly blocked by Amity's head. Here, it's a full side profile kiss, where you can see their lips connect, making it less ambiguous than the other kiss.
    • When Eda and King finally meet Camila, they nervously hold out their hands in a formal way. Camila shakes their (or, at least Eda's) hand before pulling them into a hug. It's very clear Camila is deeply grateful towards the duo for all they've done for Luz, and truly considers them to be family.
    • The Collector lets Lilith be the one to bring Hooty back from his puppet form and she doesn't just shed some Tears of Joy, she has Ocular Gushers of pure unadulterated joy pouring down her face the moment he wakes up.
  • When The Collector leaves to return to the stars, King gives him his precious Francois to keep him company in his travels. Luz says that the last thing King said to The Collector is "I hope to see you again."
    • And from the ending scene, it's quite clear that the Collector does come back to the Boiling Isles pretty regularly to meet up with their friends.
  • As Luz is packing up her stuff while preparing to go away to college after the Time Skip, several photos can be seen on her wall including:
    • It's a quick moment but on Luz's desk, she scribbled in a "L + A" note with a heart circling the letters. The "A" is obviously referencing Amity. She really loves her girlfriend.
    • Luz and Vee hugging at their high school graduation.
      • The fact that Camila somehow managed to get Vee into school is impressive enough, but all in all this cements a fact that fans believed in for a long time — Vee is a Noceda and after everything she went through and having remained with Luz and Camila for the last four years since Camila told her she could stay for as long as she needed, Vee has found a place to call home and a family who loves her for exactly who and what she is.
      • A photo in the hallway shows Luz hoisting Vee up in her arms while wearing baseball/softball uniforms, showing they found a hobby where they can spend time together as sisters.
    • The Nocedas at a trip to the zoo.
    • The box Luz is seen packing up contains a few sweet items from the previous seasons - Her Grom queen tiara, Eda's jacket, and the Azura book her father gave to her.
    • All of the Hexsquad attending Grom together.
      • Also, the fact that Vee is in her natural form. While she's clearly comfortable with her human form, it's nice that she has a place outside of her house where she doesn't have to hide her appearance.
      • If you look closely at Hunter and Willow in the picture, it's implied they are each other's date. And Hunter's outfit has a floral pattern in reminiscent of Willow's Green Thumb powers. And upon closer inspection, he sewed it himself.
    • Eda introducing Camila to Apple Blood.
    • King playing catch with Hooty and Eda.
    • Some old photos make a return — Eda, Luz, and King taking a picture at Grom; Luz and Amity gazing at the stars (first shown in "Thanks to Them" when the former comes out as bi to Camila); the group photo of the Emerald Entrails.
    • There is also what looks like an artist’s access pass for a comic convention, given how much Luz loved going to conventions it’s great she was able officially to take part in one.
    • On the same poster board, there are a couple of meta Shout-Out moments:
      • A sticker that resembles Polly Plantar from Amphibia. A cute and neat reminder that the creator of that show and The Owl House are friends in real life. It also serves to remind how friendly both fans of both shows are to one another.
      • Luz getting a congratulatory award scholarship for writing from who? The creator of the show, Dana Terrace. Sure it's likely useless since she's going to college in the demon realm where her mentor and foster mother Eda is the headmaster, thus destroying any need for one but it's still an amazing thing to see.
  • It's quick, but if you look closely in the background of Luz's room when she's packing, you can see she made Stringbean her own room near the ceiling. Cutely called "Stringbean's Corner".
  • Luz getting accepted into the University of Wild Magic, though it's less impressive when we learn that Eda is the Headmaster of that school, so Luz naturally would get in scholarship or not it does mean that just like in the beginning, Luz and Eda are still mentor and student.
  • Everything about Hunter's interactions with Eberwolf and Darius. After everything he's been through, seeing Hunter finally gain a family, beyond Luz and Flapjack to call his own is cathartic.
    • A good indication of how well he's going is that, as many fans noticed in the final scene, his signature eyebags are fully gone.
  • The credits montage are part of the Flash Forward, showing the future of the Boiling Isles. And it's a happy one.
    • Generally, the entire epilogue being played to a theme that marries the show's opening theme, and its closing credits theme. It's as strange and enticing as the opening theme, but as idyllic and hopeful as the closing theme. Between the two, it paints the epilogue as a brand new chapter in the Boiling Isles' history: one of freedom and peace, where every witch has a bright future ahead of them, including Luz.
      • Fridge-Heartwarming: Remember when Luz was miserable over her belief she was solely at fault for Belos taking over the Boiling Isles? Well now, we see the results of Luz sticking it out and working through her mistakes rather than throwing in the towel: things got better for it! And for that, she's left a legacy where the Boiling Isles is a far happier place than when she first arrived. Given Belos's own arrival centuries ago had left such a stain by the time she came, that's saying something.
      • On a smaller note, the slitherbeast has an offspring and the selkidomuses now live closer to the shore. Some might expect wildlife to start to decay now that the Titan is truly dead, but it's thriving.
    • The members of the Hexsquad are shown with cardinal tattoos in tribute of Flapjack.
    • Even after all these years, Luz and Amity are still together. If you look closely, Luz is now wearing Amity's moon necklace and earring. And when she arrives at the Boiling Isles, Amity immediately runs to her and gives her a hug and a kiss on the cheek, with it effectively indicated that their relationship is indeed going to last long term.
    • Willow is still captain of the Emerald Entrails, now with custom-made jerseys. She and Hunter are also implied to have gotten romantically involved as the two of them are shown being very physically affectionate.
    • Hunter has become a Palisman carver, taking an apprenticeship with Gwen and Dell Clawthorne, who are regrowing the Palistrom forests with the help of the Bat Queen. He's also carved himself a new Palisman, a little blue jay named Waffle. On the way to the Owl House, he and Willow stop at Flapjack's grave, and Willow grows some flowers onto the tribute to Hunter's very first friend.
Thank you for finding me. -H
      • Bonus heartwarming, Hunter's work apron has three noticeable patches sewn onto it: An Emerald Entrails logo, an abomination styled patch, and one depicting the illusion earring Gus wears. Always keeping a reminder of his friends with him.
      • Also heartwarming is when you consider that the Clawthornes are theorized to be descendants of Caleb and Evelyn. While Caleb himself met a tragic end before even meeting his child, his lineage has lived on as the Clawthornes and in the twisted Grimwalkers. And just as Caleb and Evelyn found peace with each other, Hunter has found peace with the Clawthornes, and in a sense Evelyn and Caleb are reunited one last time as their descendants will carry on their legacy.
    • We see Braxas, in a multi-track uniform, getting his Palisman from Hunter alongside his father, who looks like he has retired from being a guardsman.
    • Under Lilith's guidance, the Bonesborough library is constructing two brand new wings, dedicated to glyph magic. She and Amity have also rekindled the student-mentor relationship they had in Season 1, and on top of that, Lilith has unlocked her very own harpy form!
      • Just the way Amity jumps into Lilith's arms and how the latter spins the former around. Not only have they rekindled their mentorship but they've also become affectionate and playful, a clear contrast to how formal they were at first.
      • Notably, she's carrying Hooty with her through all of these scenes.
    • Alador, along with Raine, Eberwolf, Jerbo, Viney, Emira and several other witches, has developed a way to remove sigils from people's wrists without having to amputate them. After 50 years, their magic will no longer be chained, and nobody will have to live with the reminder of what Belos did stamped onto their wrists.
      • The kid they test it on is the one we first saw marked way back. Back then, he was an example of what was wrong with the system, and now he represents the end of a sad era.
      • Alador and Darius appear to be on better terms, too, if Darius shaking Alador in excitement at their success is any indication.
    • Raine now has a palisman, a fox to be precise, of their own.
    • Barcus, one of the first multi-track students in Hexside history, has now become a teacher at the school, passing down his knowledge to the next generation of witches.
    • A relatively small one, but Principal Bump has apparently retired, and has happily taken up gardening.
    • Steve is reaching out to the other coven scouts, who are eager to throw their masks away, as well as their evil ways with them.
    • Finally, we see the greatest triumph over Belos — the clearing where his castle once stood is now the University for Wild Magic, a school built into a gigantic tree. Several familiar faces are teaching there, including Edric, the keeper of the Looking Glass Graveyard, and Gus, who runs the Demon Realm - Human Realm Exchange Program. Some of the basilisks also seem to have taken up residence there. note  The headmaster of the school is of course none other than Eda, also finally able to pass on her magic lessons to a new generation.
      • In Eda's headmaster office you can see some old pictures: Eda (and King's) old wanted poster, a young Eda and Lilith back in their Grudgby days, and the funny sweater family photo picture of her, Luz, King and, Hooty. And above her headmaster door is the light glyph, a reminder of her first pupil and daughter figure. There's also a mural of Raine, Luz, and King next to her office as well.
      • Look closely at Eda's designs: Eda is wearing the same blackened earring The Collector found earlier that belonged to Raine. Meanwhile Raine's earrings have a similar design to Eda's old one, although they are smaller.
      • Given how affectionate they were earlier and the above-mentioned earring swap, it's implied that they rekindled their romance.
      • The shot of Raine and Lilith greeting her is a lovely testament of how much Eda's life has improved since Luz came to the Isles. Ever since then, two of the people she previously pushed away in one form or another are closer to her than ever before.
    • The Blight family is shown to be happier than they've ever looked before all because of one simple fact; Odalia is not around to abuse and control them anymore. After spending years following her orders and putting up with her constant demands, the rest of the Blights can finally chose a better future for themselves without having to endure Odalia's toxic influence.
      • Amity, who was forced to end her friendship with Willow during their childhood and went along with Odalia's dream of her youngest daughter joining the Emperor's Coven, simply wanted to choose her own path in life. What's Amity's occupation now? She's become an Adventurer Archaeologist procuring rare books for the very same library that she volunteered at as a teen.
      • Alador wasted most of his life designing weaponry while being worked and treated like a dog; now he's putting his intellect to a more productive and beneficial goal and formed better relationships with his kids. If you look closely at his new outfit, he's wearing 3 symbols that represent each of his children, which are Amity's moon necklace and Ed and Em's concealment stones.
      • Emira used to fear being stuck with Edric for the rest of her life and Edric was scared of ending up alone, but they're both shown to be thriving as adults. While Emira helps her father with his research by supplying healing magic for his anti-sigil glove, Edric is teaching at the University of Wild Magic using Batric in his lessons. They're doing just fine.
  • Because Luz spent her 15th, 16th and 17th birthdays helping rebuild the Demon Realm, all of her friends and loved ones from the Isles decide to throw her a belated quinceañera to celebrate her. Of course, it has a demonic twist, making it perfect for Luz.
    • She has an Azura styled cake with the bisexual flag color part of it. The residents really put a lot of thought in for Luz.
    • Remember when Luz said she was going to leave the Demon Realm for good? This episode makes it abundantly clear that she has put that notion firmly behind her, and she now has no intention of ever permanently leaving the Boiling Isles. Apparently, the Collector was kind enough to give the Nocedas a new portal as a parting gift. Finally, considering that Luz's relationship with Amity is still going strong and that she's planning to go to college in the Demon Realm, it seems she is planning to emigrate to the Boiling Isles full-time, all without cutting her ties to her loved ones in the human realm.
    • At her party, Boscha and Tibbles can be seen (more so in the below-mentioned group shot). While they may not be on friendly terms with Luz, it's clear that both might hold some level of respect for the human for all she's done.
    • At some point during the time skip, Camila bought the abandoned house that lead Luz to the Demon Realm in the first place.
    • If the new Grom photo and the other basilisks on the Isles somehow wasn't proof enough, then Vee willingly returning to the Demon Realm along with resuming her natural form with no fear officially shows that her kind are free to live in peace with nobody being afraid of them.
  • King is wearing a new collar necklace, with new writing on it. The writing? His initial, "K.C."; as in, King Clawthorne. On top of that King has a little green star on his skull. Just a little design change or a little memento from his buddy, The Collector?
  • King is developing his own glyph language, showing it off to Luz at the party with his new Light glyph.
    • If one looks closely, the design of the new glyph seems to evoke Luz's old cat-ear hoodie. Aww...
  • Remember how in the first episode Luz was the lonely weirdo who was noted to not have any real friends at her school? That's not the case anymore. Not only does she have friends who would do anything for her but she also found another group to call family; she has a loving and protective girlfriend; a notably large group of people who respect and admire her for all that she's done, even some who aren't her friends; and she was able to find all of them by just being her weirdo self. Yeah, she grew in her maturity and pragmatism but kept the central aspects that made Luz her, she's not even alone in her human school either being able to attend alongside her new adoptive sister.
  • It's subtle but throughout the scenery of the Boiling Isles, a titan symbol can be seen throughout, seemingly replacing Belos' sigil.
  • Whilst everyone watches the Collector's display, Luz takes the time to thank Eda and King properly for everything. Eda returns the sentiment. This is very meaningful when one bears in mind that (A) while she was dying, it dawned on her that she should've thanked them as her last words and (B) Eda and King previously thanked her when they thought they would never see her again. This time around, she doesn't have to thank them while she's either dying or being separated from them: she can do it under better circumstances.
  • This exchange:
    Luz: (Extends her hand.) Weirdos?
Eda and King: (Put their hands on her hand.) Weirdos.
  • The last shot of the series has everyone waving goodbye at the Collector. However, since they're facing the camera, it's really saying goodbye and Thanking the Viewer for watching the show. Heartwarming and Tear Jerker all in one.
    BYEEEEE!
