- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: In Bowser's Inside Story, he grows four times to handle threats that stomped on him. Later in Dream Team, he grows to battle Dreamy Luigi and Dreamy Meiling and is enlarged again by Kamek after being beaten. He gets taken down via gigantic star in the latter case.
- Berserk Button: Harming Bowser Jr.
- Big Bad: Of most stories
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Dishes out on these on the heroes from time to time such as when he was powered up by Antasma in Dream Team and in the start of Odyssey. He's on the receiving end of this in Dream Team when Kingdom Hearts-verse Marisa and her group easily pound him flat after he pounded Mario and his friends. This was due to Marisa and the others found out how to beat him from Sabrina.
- Curse Cut Short: Lets out an "Oh, son of a—-" in Dream Team when he notices the massive, empowered Power Star flying towards him when he's trying to choke out Dreamy Luigi and Dreamy Meiling
- Demonic Possession: In Kingdom Battle, he's possessed by the Megabug in the penultimate chapter
- Didn't Think This Through: In Paper Jam, he and Paper Bowser attack and destroy the Mushroom Kingdom after they hurt both Bowser Jrs, due to a misunderstanding (The Peaches and Zeldas had already escaped and no one knew about this). - Power Copying: Copies Master Spark and Final Spark after stealing Marisa's Hakkero in Dream Team. He's not too good (No training) and gets his rear end kicked anyways.
- Tempting Fate: In Galaxy Remastered, he saysDon't you think it would be wise to go back to the center of the universe empty handed? Let Peach and Reimu hide all they want, they won't be able to hide forever in our galactic conquest. We have the power we need to have the universe bend to our will. Once we have that fully stable, we'll send out man hunts to those who oppose us and lock them up, Peach and Reimu included.
Bowser: Where are you going with this?
Kamek: I'm saying that you can declare martial law on the whole universe and make everyone obey your every command. If anyone opposes, which they will, they won't have the manpower to do anything. You can do whatever you want. Why go on a wild goose chase in search of these two ladies when you can force them back during your reign? That way, no one will stand in your way. - What Happened to the Mouse?: Hasn't been seen since Dream Team

He does so by telling her about when he wanted to destroy something that took a friend of his who taught him ice magic until a close friend of his knocked him back to his senses. After pointing out to Bea she's not thinking straight and is setting herself up for complete destruction and he says he got cocky and underestimated Esdeath. He then says he's not making that mistake again and isn't going to let Bea make that mistake either and they'll take out Esdeath together. Reimu Harukei
Reimu Harukei
- Action Girl: As with the other female characters
- Best Friend: With Princess Peach after Galaxy
- Berserk Button:
- If Bowser or anyone else kidnaps Peach
- Irrationally blames the Kingdom Hearts-verse characters for the mess in Kingdom Battle. It takes Marisa calling her out on it and not wanting to be friends with her to snap her out of it.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Has this exact reaction after getting a What the Hell, Hero? from Marisa in Kingdom Battle.
Flandre Scarlet
Flandre Scarlet

Clownpiece
Clownpiece

- Heel–Face Turn: In Dream Team, she does one of these with Yukari's help after the latter helps Clownpiece realize that Reimu does care about Clownpiece
- My God, What Have I Done?: In Dream Team, when she realizes she was never at the shrine when Reimu visted and was trying to get revenge for nothing.
Yukari Yakumo
Yukari Yakumo
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: In Galaxy Remastered, her leaving a gap to Gensokyo open was what led to the events of the story after Kamek found it.

- The Cameo: Makes a brief appearance in Super RWBY Sisters where after Yang asks "Who knew that Blizzaurus was nothing more than an idiot?" Weiss wonders "I wonder if all ice fairies are complete idiots?" Afterwards, in the Touhouverse, we see Cirno telling someone "And then I told Reimu that-… hold the phone…" and the person she's talking to asks "What is it, Cirno?" Cirno responds with "I don't know… but I have a gut feeling that someone out there called me a freakin' idiot… and I'm not liking it."
- Running Gag: In the original Galaxy 2, after she Perfect Freezes the Puzzle Plank Galaxy, she says its new name is the Snowy Plank Galaxy and corrects anyone who refers to it by its first name

- Heel–Face Revolving Door: Start off on Maleficent's side and are easily convinced to come back to the heroes
Doremy Sweet
Doremy Sweet
- Baku: The kind of youkai she is. Being the ruler of the Dream World, she's strongly associated with dreams and sleep, and her design was inspired by the Malayan tapir, the animal the baku is based on.
- Character Catchphrase: Zigzagged. In Dream Team, she introduces herself as "I am Doremy Sweet" but doesn't add "The Ruler of Dreams". She also does this once, when she encounters Mario and the gang.
- Dream Land: Where she lives and rules over. Being a baku, she's noted to be the strongest type of youkai in it.
- Dream Stealer: Being a baku, a youkai who eats dreams, it's only natural that she can do this.
- Dream Weaver: Can eat, make, and replace dreams. In fact, her Spell Cards are formed from nightmares and lucid dreams. She admits in Dream Team that she wandered a little too far from her Dream World and was surprised upon meeting up with the gang.
Youmu Konpaku and Yuyuko
Youmu Konpaku and Yuyuko
- Badass Normal: While Youmu's hardly normal, in the sense of being half-ghost, she lacks any of the specific magical powers assigned to most of the cast, making up for it in pure swordsmanship.
- Battle Butler: Youmu to Yuyuko Saigyouji, the ghost princess.
- Cheery Pink: Yuyuko's got pink hair plus a cheerful disposition.
- Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: Youmu to Yuyuko.
- Cute Ghost Girl: Yuyuko's a pink-haired ghost princess with a very carefree and cheerful personality. For a long time, she was the trope picture
- Half-Human Hybrid:
- Youmu is half-human, half-phantom, "phantoms" being the shapeless ghost-lights of the Netherworld, which include but are not limited to the spirits of the dead. Oddly this results in her having two bodies: a mostly-alive human body and a mostly-dead (but corporeal) phantom body. It's not clear whether the Konpaku clan are classified as half-phantoms because their ancestors got stuck between life and death, or because they bred with phantoms (...somehow).
- Oxymoronic Being: Youmu is half-human and half-ghost.
- The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything:
- Youmu's supposed to be Yuyuko's gardener but is depicted more like a bodyguard and servant.
- Those Two Guys: Are always seen with each other due to being bodyguard and servant.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?:
- Despite the fact that she serves a ghost and is half one, Youmu is terrified of ghost stories.
Alice Margatroid
Alice Margatroid
- Action Bomb: She sends dolls stuffed with gunpowder to blow up in people's faces.
- Alice Allusion: Aside from the obvious references, her name becomes a Stealth Pun when you remember that she now lives in Gensokyo (since "Gensokyo" literally means "fantasy land"...or "Wonderland", if you will).
- Ascended Extra: Does a lot more in the stories than in the games as of 2009.
- Attack Drone: Her dolls do most of the attacking.
- Berserk Button: In the original Galaxy 2, she really lets Kamek have it over earpiece due to him lying that Marisa was killed by Kingfin.
- Hyperspace Arsenal: While fighting she seems to use an infinite amount of dolls.
Eirin Yagokoro
Eirin Yagokoro
- Adaptational Nice Girl: Way nicer than in the games.
- Alchemy Is Magic: She makes immortality potions along with her varying medicines and potions.
- Badass Bookworm: In Gensokyo she's mostly known as a pharmacist, but she's actually the strongest person in Eientei (and likely one of the strongest in Gensokyo as a whole).
- Beware the Nice Ones:
- Sure, she's polite most of the time, and in her day job she's a physician, but she's also one of the founders of a civilization with a rather bloody history and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty if she has to.
- Flight, Strength, Heart: While not useless by any means, Eirin's signature ability, to make any kind of medicine, might seem like an underwhelming one in the land of Gensokyo. Granted, being a super genius on top of that is cool and all, but is it really gonna help her against someone who can blow you up with nary a tho- oh, she's also immortal? Alright then. That's a really solid combination, if a bit lacking in offensive pow- what do you mean, she is also a master of magic, with millennia, if not millions of years of magical knowledge under her belt, who can create a barrier around the entire Earth, and claims that she knows spells far more powerful than even that?
- The Medic: Eirin is Gensokyo's resident doctor.
- Mystical White Hair: Eirin has white hair, which could be symbolic of her strong magical powers, her status as a deity, her uncertain history, her nature as a Lunarian, or all the above.
Fairy Tail
Natsu Dragneel
Natsu Dragneel

- Belly Flop Crushing: During the fight against the Ruined Dragon in Odyssey, several members of the gang fling him high in the air where he sets himself alight and uses a Fire Dragon's Meteor Smash to beat the Ruined Dragon and get rid of his Balloon Belly in the process.
- Bizarre Taste in Food: Loves to eat fire and in Dream Team he didn't think Smoldergeist tasted all that good
- Berserk Button: Got really mad in Odyssey when he found out Gray was killed by Esdeath.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: On the receiving end from Esdeath in Odyssey.
- Hot-Blooded: Loves charging into action and getting into battles. He's gotten into trouble more than once because of this.
- Playing with Fire: His main ability.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: With Gray
- What the Hell, Hero?: Was on the receiving end of this in Odyssey after he ruined the New Donk Festival by knocking out Donkey Kong even though it was just a tribute to Mario

- Super-Strength: Is incredibly strong, enough to help the heroes stop Petey Pirhana in Partners in Time and boot Torkscrew clear out of the sand in Dream Team.
- Tunnel King: A female example. Her main ability, Diver, allows Virgo to travel underground as simply as swimming in water. With this spell, Virgo can create holes to either trap someone or utilize as an escape method.

Juvia has to get Pyro to warm her up.
Cana Alberona
Cana Alberona

- The Big Guy: Really strong
- Heavy Drinker: Loves her booze
Erza Scarlet
Erza Scarlet
- Action Girl: Big time
- Absurdly Sharp Blade: All of her swords can cut through things they normally shouldn't.
- Armor Is Useless: Downplayed. She has armor and weaponry for any and every occasion, but she often faces enemies whom such edges are useless against. When this happens, she forgoes the armor and enhanced weaponry in favor of focusing on her speed and strength instead.
- Berserk Button: Harming her friends or her strawberry shortcake as well as Natsu and Gray's stupidity
- BFS: Several of her outfits come with really big swords.
- Blade Spam: Her Heaven's Wheel Armor specializes in hurling several blades at her enemies at once.
- Blow You Away: Her Wind God Armor grants her wind-based powers.
- Cool Sword: She has far too many of these to count. Some of them even have Elemental Powers.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Her Black Wing Armor and Purgatory Armor are dark and frightening-looking suits of armor, but she only ever dons them to protect her friends.
- Dual Wielding: She can do this with two BFS's at once.
- Heroes Prefer Swords: Despite the sheer number of weapons she has, she focuses almost exclusively on swordplay.
- Impossibly Cool Clothes: Each of her armors come with a distinct look and unique abilities.
- Instant Costume Change: Can switch between armors in the blink of an eye
- Multiform Balance: Each and every one of her armors has a quality that counterbalances the other (one maxes her offensive power while another maxes defense, for example).
- Offscreen Teleportation: Suddenly arrives to block Bowser on the Moon when he still tries to grab Peach even after being thoroughly beaten after he Captured Peach. Lampshaded by Marisa who flat out asks where she came from.
- Playboy Bunny: Her bunny girl outfit in Dream Team. Doesn't work in catching the bunny she and the gang are after.
- Shock and Awe: Her Lightning Empress Armor gives her electrical powers.
- Storm of Blades: Her Heaven's Wheel Armor main offense is summoning and firing multiple swords at once.
- Tomboyish Ponytail: A few of her armors do this for her, particularly her Black Wing Armor and Clear Heart Clothing.
- Technicolor Blade: Several of her swords are different colors.

- Ax-Crazy: She's totally off her rocker.
- Berserk Button: Being rejected by Tatsumi in the penultimate chapter of Odyssey results in her freezing most everyone on the moon except for Gray, Erza, Bea, Akame, and Flandre.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Crushes Gray, Juvia, Mercy, Mei and Cirno in their first fight and later completely pounds Natsu.
- Dramatically Missing the Point: Honestly thinks Tatsumi loves her until in the Penultimate chapter of Odyssey when he spells out to her face he doesn't.
- Kick the Dog: Does this a lot in Odyssey starting with attacking Mercy after she revives Gray during their first "battle".
- Killed Off for Real/Rasputinian Death How she bites it in Odyssey: Gray runs her through with a massive ice greatsword followed by Bea leaping in and stabbing Esdeath with part of her own ice rapier. Akame then slashes Esdeath with her sword, inflicting the sword's curse onto Esdeath and Flandre makes Esdeath's insides implode by clenching her fist at Esdeath.
- Knight of Cerebus: Let's see: Kills Gray and attacks Mercy after she brings Gray back, slices off Topper's paw, traps Sakuya, Wendy and Bea with an ice pillar, freezes Natsu except for his head and would have killed him if not for Sakuya, freezes the Phantom Thieves and impales Sakuya, Wendy and Bea, freezes most of the gang on the moon except for Gray, Bea, Flandre, Ezra and Akame and would have killed them after unleashing Mahapdama if Sakuya hadn't shown up.
- Pet the Dog: Does care for the other Jaegers though evidentially the feeling wasn't mutual given they defect after being shown her dead body. Likewise, after she boots the Broodals from their airship, she takes the Frost-Frosted Cake back to Shiveria and gently sets it down in its original spot going "Easy does it now".
- Scissors Cuts Rock: Her masterful control over ice enables her to pound Natsu.
- Signature Laugh: "Hmmhmmhmhmm"
- Stalker without a Crush: Chases the gang around due to wanting a rematch with Gray.
- Time Stands Still: Unleashes Mahapdama to freeze Gray, Bea, Akame and Flandre during the battle on the moon but Sakuya stops her from killing anyone.
