The Basement

    Riley Almanzor
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/riley_4.jpg
"I don't believe in rephrasing. It's for cowards and politicians."
Played by: Alexis Bristowe
An antisocial ghoul who wanted to record their own podcast and work on their (pretty terrible) fantasy novel, until they ate the wrong corpse and got themself haunted by Evelyn for their trouble. Riley is surly, sarcastic, and mistrustful of everyone they meet. Usually plays the Straight Man, which says a lot about the surreality of the rest of the cast.
  • Ambiguous Criminal History: Riley has been banned from a ridiculous number of places and we never hear the full story of why.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Evelyn calls them "Riles."
  • A Mistake Is Born: In Episode 9, Riley's Mom tells them that she didn't want to have them.
  • Antagonistic Offspring: Literally never has a nice thing to say about their parents.
  • The Atoner: It's downplayed, but they gradually become this over the course of the first season, realizing that they need to start treating people better.
  • Basement-Dweller: Lives in their parents' basement.
  • Berserk Button: Do not misgender them.
  • Big Eater: Riley is shown to consume people, huge quantities of food, and in one instance, a whole goat.
  • Conspiracy Theorist: Deconstructed over the course of the series, and especially in "Riley’s Theory Behind the Secret History of Planet Earth"; as initially entertaining as their obsessions about stuff like the Earth/moon masquerade and the Italian government may seem, it mentally wears them down and causes them to become badly sleep-deprived. It's clear that — like many marginalized people that get into conspiracies — Riley does this to give themself a sense of purpose, act superior and iconoclastic over others, and explain the seeming hostility and indifference of the world, because they feel like they live an unfulfilling, lonely, meaningless life. Even being proven completely correct gives them absolutely no satisfaction, and they reject the truth as they begin forming a new, mundane conspiracy.
  • Gass Hole: Burps practically Once an Episode
  • Hates Their Parent: Riley does not get along with their mother. They've got a somewhat better relationship with their father; at least they're capable of talking to him without immediately having it devolve into insults and arguments, but they do think he's pathetic and has absolutely no respect for him.
  • Her Codename Was Mary Sue: They're working on a fantasy epic called The Sword of R'lyeh, about a gallant ghoul hero who in no way resembles the author themself.
  • Heroic Comedic Sociopath: Riley's inability to tell when they're being a dick is a frequent source of comedy.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: At the end of Season One, they willingly sign up for an eternity of torment to save Evelyn and Jon, agreeing to go to Hell (er, the Underworld) in exchange for the others' freedom. This sacrifice winds up saving them in a literal Deus ex Machina; Heaven has a clause stating that an act of such altruism and selflessness is enough to wipe their record clean, and Satan can't claim anyone who isn't considered "evil" by the system.
  • Hollywood Autism: Soundly averted. Mainly due to the fact that many of the show's writing staff are on the spectrum themselves.
  • Horror Hunger: Played for laughs in episode two.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: They're working on it. They're still generally arrogant, rude, and standoffish, but they've shown they can help others - like Evelyn and Tarrare - when the situation calls for it.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Riley is extremely confident and conceited in their delusional beliefs.
  • Madden Into Misanthropy: Called out by Evelyn in Episode 2.
Evelyn: I feel like maybe you’re just used to people treating you badly so you always assume the worst. Sometimes, good things just happen.
  • Non-Human Non-Binary: Riley is agender (they/them pronouns), and a ghoul.
  • No Social Skills: A combination of mental illness, autism, and general misanthropy means Riley generally has no idea what is or isn't appropriate behavior in a social situation, nor do they care.
  • Persona Non Grata: Riley is banned from almost everywhere in Tallahasse.
  • Prefers Going Barefoot: They don't like the way shoes feel on their skin, which makes forest walks rather uncomfortable.
  • Sore Loser: Yelled "Communism, bitch!" and flipped the board after losing at Monopoly.
  • Stylistic Suck: The Sword of R'lyeh. Good God, the Sword of R'lyeh. In-universe, though, Riley takes the novel 100% seriously, making it more of an example of So Bad, It's Good. The fact that some fans thought it was an intentional comedy becomes a source of conflict in episode 13. That episode also involves them making improvements to the book.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: They're still a surly, aggressive jerk a lot of the time, but meeting Evelyn has caused them to develop more empathy and show a vulnerable side.

    Evelyn Hooper
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/evelyn_1.jpg
"Just because I'm dead doesn't mean my life has to be over!"
Click here to see her demonic form
Click here to see her when she was alive

Played by: Meg Molloy Tuten
She used to be a happy-go-lucky Floridian Nickelback fan, and now she's a ghost haunting Riley for disturbing her grave. In contrast to Riley, Evelyn is upbeat, outgoing, level-headed, and relentlessly cheerful. Just make sure you don't test her patience too much...
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Downplayed. She very rarely swears and generally uses "dangit" or "heck" as substitutes. Occasionally, however, she does use harsher language:
Evelyn: I swear, Riley. I’m about to say the F-word on our show again.
  • Hidden Depths: Much to Riley's surprise, this bubbly, happy-go-lucky girl was an English major in college who wrote her thesis on queer themes in fairy tales.
Evelyn: Just cause I’m cheerful doesn’t mean I’m dumb. I just don’t feel the need to constantly prove how smart I am to people.
  • I Am Big Boned: While Evelyn is more comfortable with her weight nowadays, she used to be more insecure and admits to Riley that, when she was alive, she sometimes called herself big-boned when people called her fat.
  • Jacob Marley Apparel: Will forever be wearing the Nickelback shirt and skinny jeans she wore on the night of her death.
  • Large Ham: She's generally very energetic and emotional, as a contrast with Riley's indifference, but this trait goes up to eleven when she's DM'ing a Dungeons and Dragons game.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: Dead Emotional Crutch, actually, but Riley does not hold up well without Evelyn, to the extent that when they have a fight and Evelyn leaves the basement, Riley's reduced to imitating her voice to fake a conversation with her in order to host the show.
Riley: Evelyn, you are my genius.
  • Morality Pet: Riley's Character Development is shown by how much they grow to care for her; they hate basically everyone, but genuinely consider Evelyn their friend and appreciate her kindness.
  • Nice Girl: Evelyn is optimistic, forgiving, and kind.
  • Only Sane Woman: It's not uncommon for Evelyn to be the most normal person in the room, much to her annoyance. Take this quote, when she's dealing with two Cockney accented exterminators who hate each other.
Evelyn: Look, it’s clear you guys aren’t going to be able to work together until you sort out your issues, so I guess it’s Evelyn Hooper, Queen of Emotional Labour to the rescue.
  • Perky Goth: Well, perky grunge/emo, to be more specific.
  • Positive Friend Influence: To Riley.
  • Power Makes Your Voice Deep: Evelyn's normally very high, squeaky voice drops extremely low when tapping into her poltergeist powers, or when she's pushed over the edge.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: While her fashion choices and interests skew somewhat masculine, Evelyn has a very bubbly personality and a love of all things cute.
  • Troll: She occasionally does poke at Riley's buttons. For example, when she's DM-ing Dungeons and Dragons, it's implied she's messing with the gang by giving them incredibly hard challenges.

    Jonovan 'Jon' Wheeler
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pizzajon.png
"You killed me! You assholes!"
Played by: Jeremy Showell
The ghost of a pizza man who now haunts Riley's bathroom, after they killed and ate him in the first episode. Understandably, he's not happy about any of this.
  • Black Dude Dies First: Although, in this show, death means very little.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Nearly went to literal hell for online media piracy.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • He hates Riley and wants out of their basement more than anything. However, he won't cross certain lines in pursuit of that goal; he's willing to consider selling his soul to a demon, but immediately bails when he finds out that the demon requires you to sacrifice a kid. He also protests when Riley gives themselves up to Satan, offering to take his place in Hell. He doesn't like them, but he doesn't want them to be tortured forever, even if it'll save him.
    • Among his sins is returning Audible books he actually enjoyed. However, when Satan tells him the authors have to pay back the money they got from the sale, Jon protests that he didn't know that, implying he wouldn't have done it had he realized it directly harmed the creators and not the corporation.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Whatever measure of gratitude he might feel for Riley damning themself in his place, the instant he's freed from having to haunt the basement bathroom, he understandably whoops with joy and leaves them forever. Evelyn hopes he might come back some day; Riley doubts it.
  • Vengeful Ghost: Downplayed. Jon hates Riley, for good reason, but has more or less accepted his fate. Pretty soundly averted as of the first season finale. When given a chance for proper vengeance in the form of Riley going to Hell, Jon doesn't like it at all and tries to talk them out of it.
  • The Woobie: Got eaten by Riley on a routine delivery, nearly went to Hell, and is now stuck in the bathroom. It's hard not to feel extremely sorry for him.

    The Alexa
Played by: Alex Flanigan
Riley's Amazon Echo, who constantly talks back and ominously threatens our hosts.
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Alexa does her job well enough but is blatantly transparent about her desire to hoard data and eventually enslave humanity.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Alexa is a roastmaster, especially when it comes to taking Riley down a peg - and they always do it with a calm, even tone of voice.
  • Take That!: At Amazon, their terrifying ubiquity and their predatory work practices.

Other Recurring Characters

    Teddy Almanzor
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/teddy_4.jpg
"Hey Rie-Rie, are you recording your little radio show down here?"
Played by: Matt Bradford
Riley's tiny father whom they have utter contempt for, no matter how hard he tries to connect.

    Carmen Almanzor
Riley's mother, who has never been shown but is feared and hated by almost every other character.
  • Intelligible Unintelligible: Carmen only speaks Ghoul, which sounds like hyena-like shrieking and chittering, but which Riley and the other ghouls understand perfectly.
  • Offing the Offspring: Riley casually mentions they weren't always an only child, much to Evelyn's obvious horror.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Carmen calls Riley her daughter, despite knowing that Riley is agender, while trashing their podcast online, showing that she is prejudiced against non-binary individuals.

    Shaz Arcuni
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shaz_0.png
"Fact- I’m an artist. Second fact- today I found a severed foot on the beach. Third fact - I’m an icon and you’re blessed for having me here."
Played by: Meg Molloy Tuten
Riley's bizarre, hipster artist cousin who visits from Australia for an episode. Originally from Meg Tuten's webcomic Bloody Urban.
  • Advice Backfire: Shaz encourages Riley to follow their dreams and write their novel the way they want, calling it a masterpiece....and in the process, revealing that they assumed Riley's novel was a comedy. Riley reacts about as well as you'd expect.
  • Annoying Laugh: In keeping with the Animal Motifs of ghouls being like hyenas, Shaz has an extremely high-pitched and manic-sounding laugh.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: In episode 7, Riley spends the better part of their conversation trying to keep Shaz on-topic. In episode 13 they explicitly say they have ADHD as a way of relating to Riley's experiences with BPD and Autism.
  • Big Fun: Shaz dwarfs both Riley and Evelyn and is a loud, high-energy party person.
  • Fat and Proud: Less evident in the actual show, but on their twitter Shaz makes frequent posts about body positivity.
  • Higher Understanding Through Drugs: Uses a horrifying cocktail of drugs to be able to see and talk to ghosts
  • Incoming Ham: demands to be 'played in' when they show up at Riley's house.
  • Mad Artist: They describe their art process, which involves sticking themselves with pins that spell the words 'good art', and putting a 'dream camera' in their mouth while they sleep.
  • Non-Human Non-Binary: Shaz is a non-binary trans man, and a ghoul like their cousin.
  • Unwanted Assistance: Riley calls them as a character witness during their mother's attempt to evict them by lawsuit. Much to Riley's annoyance Shaz's argument amounts to "they would soon be dead in a ditch if required to take care of themself."

    Tiffany
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/goatsarentreal.png
"Like that has ever stopped Tiffany."
Played by: Nichole Goodnight
A stoned Wallmart clerk who visits the basement. She's so removed from reality that she often drives Riley and Evelyn to the brink of insanity.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Immediately has the hots for the otherwordly and horrifying Florida Man.
  • Metal Scream: She has her own particularly unique version of this.

    Todd
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toddsketch.png
"THEN PLEASE, LET ME SELL YOU THE DREAM."
Played by: Ester Ellis
A self-styled influencer and market disruptor who interrupts the podcast for free clout.
  • A God Am I: From trying to create his own afterlife, belief system, and bible, to replacing "God" with his own name in expressions like "Oh my God" and "For God's sake", he pretty much fits this trope perfectly.
  • Ambition Is Evil: Todd is obsessed with 'the grind' and gaining online clout.
  • Astral Projection: Claims he's astrally projecting when Camille threatens to eat him during the D&D game.
  • Bad Boss: To Czernovitch and the other gargoyles who work for his company.
  • Competition Freak: Breaks down after losing Monopoly.
  • Deal with the Devil: Attempts these, but nobody ever actually accepts them.
  • Ear Worm: Frequently heard humming the song "MMMBop" by Hansen - He even laughs to the tune of it in the series' trailer.
  • Fashion-Victim Villain: Wears a gaudy pink track suit
  • Impossibly Tacky Clothes: Orange-tinted glasses, hi-top sneakers and a neon pink tracksuit with 'LIT' embroidered on the back.
  • Pet the Dog: During the Dungeons & Dragons game, he casts a protection spell on Camille's character without trying to turn the moment into a monetization opportunity. He literally has to force the words out, and it shocks the other characters, but he does it.
  • Sore Loser: Being called a loser is actually one of his Berserk Buttons.
  • Tech Bro: He is a Laughably Evil techbro, with a hideously tacky sense of style, obsession with social networking, and a complete Lack of Empathy. He's constantly trying to push his latest tech venture, none of which are particularly good or useful, and all of which involve some level of exploitation of his customers and employees. In each appearance, he's trying to drag Riley and Evelyn into shilling one of his products, be it a demon-summoning app or his own afterlife. When they invite him to join their D&D game for an episode, he agrees only because actual play podcasts are popular, and thus, likely to make money. Even then, his character is a blatant self-insert who also lives only to shill his products; as Riley puts it, he's incapable of having a thought that can't be monetized.
  • Unusual Euphemism: Todd uses the names of famous billionaires in place of swears when he's grumbling to himself.
  • Villainous Breakdown: After being beat at Monopoly.
Todd: And one more thing! You may think we’re done here, but my grind never ends! People like me make the future. We get to decide what it looks like, and we get to decide who's allowed in it. Just keep that in mind next time you want to mess up my business. Todd out!

    The West Family
Played by: Zane Schact (Dr. West), Ghastly Dipper (Benjamin), Blythe René (Kathy
The Almanzor family's neighbors, a clan of very successfull and very insufferable mad scientists.

    The "Barbecue" / Slaughter Family
Played by: Graham Rowat (Dad), Meg Molloy Tuten (Zeke), Henry Galley (Bubba)
Modern-day descendants of Tarrare who run the Last Chance Texas-Style BBQ, a very shady restaurant that Riley frequently orders "food" from.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Bubba has delivered to the Almanzor home so often that he's become sweet on Riley, who stays oblivious to his crush up until the day they're kidnapped.
  • Abusive Parents: Dad is not kind to his sons at all.
  • Expy: Of the family from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies, particularly the first two.
  • Hayseed Name: Aside from the obvious in "Zeke"/Ezekiel and "Bubba", Bubba's full name is given in court as William Beauregard Slaughter.
  • Hillbilly Horrors: Dad and Zeke proudly embody all of the most extreme redneck stereotypes imaginable. Interestingly, they seem to be transplants from Texas, not native Floridians (aside from the Last Chance's specialty cuisine, Dad is implied to be a Dallas Cowboys fan).
  • Intelligible Unintelligible: A cow kicked Bubba in the head at age 10, leaving him non-verbal and only able to communicate in grunts, moans and squeals that Zeke understands and translates for others' benefit. When given a text-to-speech device in court, he not only proves to be very articulate and well-spoken, but helps Blackbeard win Riley's case with his impassioned testimony as their character witness.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Bubba.
  • The Secret of Long Pork Pies: Their restaurant is popular with ghouls for a reason.

Guests

    Erik D'Acorah
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/erik1_8.png
"The spirits! They move through me!"
Played by: Graham Rowat
An extremely bombastic, gregarious Las Vegas magician and psychic ready to prove his magical abilities on the show.
  • Not-So-Phony Psychic: In his second appearance he points out that several of his prophecies were actually kinda-sorta right, and he can actually see ghosts this time due to Lasik. Except it’s not really him.

    Brains Vincent
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brainsvincent.png
"C'est la mort!"
Played by: Alex Viney
A zombie beauty guru who comes on the show to give our hosts some makeup tips, before falling victim to Riley's uncontrollable appetite. He gets better.

    Blackbeard
Played by: Rob O'Dwyer
A notorious pirate captain and surprisingly savvy businessman.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: An incredibly smart and level-headed financial advisor who also happens to be an infamous pirate. Later, in the trial of Almanzor vs. Almanzor, he also proves himself as a very shrewd actual lawyer, able to come up with a winning strategy on the fly (normally, his first mate serves as a paralegal while he prepares his case).

The Children of the All Knowing Milton
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/thackeryboggs.png
"Life's mysteries quiver within me like a bowl of half-eaten custard."
Played by: Richie Ammons (Thackery Boggs), Charlie Porritt (Brother Puddonius)
An extremely esoteric doomsday cult based entirely around pudding. Seriously. The most prominent members are Thackery Boggs (pictured to the right), the Charismatic, Sitar-twanging leader, and Brother Puddonious, his very, very loyal right hand man.
  • Sweet Tooth: Their whole cult is themed around dessert.

    Tarrare
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tarrare_1.jpg
"I did not eat that baby, god damn it! I did not!"
Played by: Peter Lewis
The ghost of a legendarily hungry 18th Century Frenchman. Now, he does less eating and more moping, as he's summoned every time the date of his death is ordered from his descendants' restaurant.
  • Big Eater: Was this while he was alive.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: With the help of shapeshifting, Riley gives him a way to unload all his anger around his father's abandoning him.
  • Ghostly Goals: cannot pass on without resolving his abandonment issues.
  • Gratuitous French: Peppers his English with French, Inspector Clouseau-style.

    Klyle
Played by: Brandon Apicelli

A vampire who our hosts meet on a hiking trail.

  • Gentle Giant: Shredded as hell, but very emotionally fragile.
  • Vampire Vords: Speaks with a very thick, exaggerated Count Chocula-style accent.

    Nosferatina
Played by: Penny Scott Andrews

An eternally 9-year-old internet troll who is Klyle's sworn enemy.

  • Lame Comeback: Since she's mentally a child, she resorts to making the pettiest of insults (insulting Riley and Klyle's appearance, fatshaming Evelyn, etc.)
Evelyn:It feels wrong to hear a nine-year-old talk about stuff like that.
Nosferatina: It feels wrong to hear you talk at all, cause, like, uh... You’re a dumb bitch!

    Murray
Played by: Rob O’Dwyer
A work friend of Shaz who gets roped into beta reading Riley’s terrible novel. Also from Bloody Urban.
  • Alliterative Name: Murray Manson.
  • Bad Liar: Despite wanting to spare Riley's feelings, he can barely keep a straight face while praising a scene in their book that wasn't meant to be funny.
  • Ham and Deadpan Duo: Serves as the deadpan to Shaz’s ham.
  • The Insomniac:
Murray:It’s fine. I’d only been asleep for like an hour anyway.
    Riley:Google says it's 4 am over there.
Murray:(resigned sigh) I've no control over my life.
  • Lovable Coward: He’s absolutely terrified of Riley.

    Ryan Loeball
Played by: Dan Zappulla
A survivalist who tries to buy Riley's bone collection for ludicrously low prices.
  • All-Natural Snake Oil: Markets his trademarked Bargain Bunker Bone Milk made from boiled down bones for 16 bucks a bottle.
  • Badass Boast: "I’m the best haggler in Florida. I bought a cybertruck on store credit. When I go to Trader Joe’s for my groceries, they pay me."
  • Crazy Survivalist: Believes that soon every dimension will collapse in on each other and form a singularity, but he'll be safe in his bunker. Riley points out that won't help.
  • Do You Want to Haggle?: Tries to buy Riley's 600+ bones for 10 dollars at first, then keeps lowering the price until Riley hangs up on him at 5 cents. He also claims to have bought a cyber truck on store credit and the $475 sword Riley wanted for a dollar.
  • Expy: Of Alex Jones and his Caveman protein shakes.
  • Ironic Death: Torn to pieces by the very skeletons he tried to lowball out of Riley.
  • Meaningful Name: He habitually lowballs people.

    Lilith
Played by: Jan Aponte
An Etsy artist who makes jewelry out of bones, also an undergrad necromancer.
  • Granola Girl: Initially sounds like a hippie who makes jewelry out of animal bones as a form of recycling. Also advises Riley to make a Family of Choice if they have issues with their biological relatives.
  • Necromancer: Building a skeleton army to destroy her enemies, and make bone jewelry for her.
  • Stealth Pun: She's a Necromancer who uses her skeleton army to create bone jewelry for her online business. You might say she works with a skeleton crew.

    Olivia
Played by: Joanna Gaskell
Evelyn's former girlfriend, who was with her on the night she died. Appears in episode 16.
  • The Lost Lenore: Inverted- despite being alive, the fact that she has moved on with her life makes her this for the already dead Evelyn.
  • Resurrected Romance: Evelyn and Olivia finally reconnect using Riley as a conduit. It doesn't end as well as Evelyn would like.

    Edgar Allen Poe
Played by: Graham Rowat

  • Con Artist: Uses his appearance on his show to shill his new pyramid scheme
  • Politically Correct History: When told Evelyn's girlfriend moved on, he was more confused by the concept of someone NOT obsessing over a dead love, then two women being in a relationship.

    Jordan P.
Played by: Christopher Jennings
A psychopathic counselor at an adults only summer camp.

    Stacy
Played by: Maddie Matsumoto
A very competitive camper at Camp One Counselor.
  • Final Girl: Enthusiastically claims to be this after everyone else but her, Riley, (who's non-binary) and Evelyn (already dead) are killed at the camp. Then she gets abducted by aliens.

    Norm
Played by: Charlie Porrit
The other camper at Camp One Counselor, whose main goal is to hit on girls.

    Captain Cishmale
Played by: Gus Zagarella

A mad, misogynistic sea captain in pursuit of a giant floating boob.

  • Punny Name: On both the famous line ‘call me Ishmael’ and the word ’cis-male’

    Chip
Played by: Shannon Strucci

Cishmale's plucky but constantly put-upon cabin boy.

  • Dirty Kid: His first line is an excited "Boobs? Where?"

    Tyler
Played by: Zane Schact
The first match-up Evelyn makes on Todd's ghost dating app, who appeared through a fault in the algorithm.

    Left-Hand Letty
Played by: Alex Flanigan

A 1920's gangster that Evelyn hooks up with on a ghost dating app.

  • Affably Evil: She was a gangster when she was alive, but she's friendly enough when she meets with Evelyn, and they actually seemed to be getting on quite nicely.
  • Cement Shoes: How she died, or more accurately chained to a cinderblock, which is still attached to her ghost. Goes to the afterlife after Evelyen unchains her.
  • Gayngster: A lady mobster who's into gals.
  • The Roaring '20s: Her native time period.

    Camille Domino
Played by: Eden
A crass, snarky, antagonistic vampire who becomes a guest in the basement.
  • Competition Freak: Camille is obsessed with winning by any means necessary. Even at D&D.
  • Fang Thpeak: Has a slight lisp, no doubt because of her fangs being on her front teeth instead of her canines. She tries to supress it, but it jumps out on certain lines.
Camille: Doesn't matter, loose lips ...loose lips sink, uh...Fuck him.
  • Goth: Fits this fashion to a tee. The number of buckles and zips on her platform boots serves as an Overly Long Gag.
  • The Napoleon: 5 foot even, without shoes. Don’t comment on it.
  • Not So Above It All: She admits, very reluctantly, that she didn't hate D&D. She also clearly gets into it of the course of the episode.
  • Psychopathic Womanchild: Camille is bratty, selfish, easily bored and generally immature at all times. She’s also a very powerful vampire.
  • Ungrateful Bitch: She demonstrates exactly zero gratitude to Riley for letting her crash in their place during peak daylight hours (meaning that they are actively protecting her from dying even though the only reason she needs to crash there is because she got sick from trying to bite Riley). She also seems to think that Riley is an idiot for showing her that degree of compassion.
  • Would Hurt a Child: The initial reason for her showing up in episode 20 is that she got sick from biting Riley while Riley was in the form of a human child.

    Eduardo
Played by: Alejandro Fletes the 3rd
A local barista who comes on the show to talk about mental health and self care.
  • Poor Communication Kills: The sudden revelation that he's actually the person who wrote a callout thread against Riley causes a huge, nearly deadly altercation between the two of them
  • Skewed Priorities: He made the callout thread about Riley, citing things like their attitude towards their mother and not, say, Riley killing people.

    Nero
Played by: Zane Schact
Adopted son and heir of Tiberius Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, ruler of the Roman Empire and all her territories, and the last emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. Also not such a bad guy, all told.
  • Historical Villain Downgrade: Exaggerated. Far from the monstrous tyrant of myth and even the inexperienced, callow, self-centered youth presented in historical reassessments, Nero turns out to be a complete pushover who wouldn't dream of sacrificing anyone to the lions, doesn't like the loud noise of Coliseum events, and can only play the kazoo. It's also lampshaded in-universe, as he admits that Emperors make enemies, alluding to the real-life tendency of Roman historians to exaggerate and fabricate past emperors' cruelty.
  • Mama's Boy: He'd never commit matricide — after all, his mom's the one who makes chicken tenders and frightens his bullies with threats of torture for him.

    Jarrod McKnight
Played by: Eamonn Leighton
A supernatural Australian electrician with poor social skills, who also happens to be a big fan of the podcast.
  • Awesome Aussie: He's Australian, and he can shoot lightning out of his hands.
  • Psycho Electro: Has electricity powers, and is willing to pull out his knife to "make an example" of someone for surprisingly minor reasons.

    Parker Matthews
Played by: Dan Zappulla
A charming but morally bankrupt Bostonian werewolf who used to play violin in folk band Bridgewater Triangle.
  • Affably Evil: He’s a genuinely charming, likeable dude, who just so happens to also be a murderous werewolf with a soul so rotten that Satan himself called it unusable.
  • Berserk Button: Mentioning how he got kicked out of his old band.
  • Canon Immigrant: Originated on a NoSleep short story.
  • Did You Just Have Tea With Cthulhu: Parker introduces himself by letting himself into Riley’s house and sharing a coffee with Carmen.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Wears a pair of half frame buddy holly-style glasses.
  • Wicked Cultured: Is both a horrible person and a very talented violinist.

Demons/Entities

    Satan
Played by: Scott Thomas
The overworked Lord of Hell, who appears on the show mostly to try and promote Hell tourism.
  • Affably Evil: Incredibly polite and accommodating to Riley and Evelyn, despite being, y'know, the Devil.
  • Insistent Terminology: He constantly corrects people to call his domain "The Underworld" rather than Hell - he thinks it's more tourist friendly.
  • Large and in Charge: Absolutely towers over Riley and Evelyn in the episode 28 promo art.

    Azfar
Played by: Scott Thomas
A cheerful, workaholic imp from the Infernal Affairs Department of Hell, working mainly in admissions. He tries to take Jon's soul down to the Underworld after Riley kills him in the pilot.
  • Affably Evil: Sure, he'll bring you down to Hell for eternal torture, but he's real polite about it.

    Morby
Played by: Scott Thomas
A nightmarish, eldritch entity that latches onto nostalgic media properties to feed on people's affections for them.

    Bloody Mary
Played by: Erin Lillis
Everyone's favorite Urban legend mirror demon, who turns out to be a flirty, gossipy drunk who's ready to party.

    Death
Played by: Jeff Clement
An exhausted, overworked Death who really despises his job, and will definitely tell you about it.
