Warning: Spoilers involving the Ninjala Car and the Chocolate Car are unmarked.

    In General

Oh yes, the Gestalt. White as snow, parts of a whole, but their actions were tainted by desires of recognition and finality.
Agares

The original four (or five) members of the White Gestalt.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: All of them, except Easter, have an added layer of angst from their mistake in trying to stop the Apex, and the Geass One-One put on them put a severe strain on their mental health as they keep telling everyone that everything is fine. What's worse, they can't be healed because One-One effectively banned all but London from re-entering the Train. Thankfully, Sycamore's threat to destroy the little bowling ball puts the wrath of God in the Conductor and he lifts the ban.
  • Aerith and Bob: You got strange absurd names like Easter and Specter, the somewhat plausible names in Gladion and Tokio and a normal one in Paul (though he goes by his last name).
  • Alliterative Name: Their second name is Shiro Shinobi.
  • And Then What?: A theme of them is what they are going to do now they're back on the Train. What's left to do when the original goal that bound them together has been passed on.
Specter: We were lost souls, hoping to survive this crazy train and figure out what our quests, our purpose, was outside of the Apex. What would a knight do when there were no more princesses to rescue or dragons to slay? What about the young boy king who must learn to forgive himself for a tragedy that was never his fault? Or a cultist who must forever live with his hands stained with blood?
  • Anti-Hero Team: The founder is a chuni with delusions of knighthood, the one who named the group is a former cyber-terrorist, the wrestler has killed people, the youngest member has a lot of self-loathing issues. The only "heroic" member is the lightning bolt who once had a propensity to tackle someone who was associated with the word "Queen" and unleashed their anger on the cyber-terrorist. Moreover, unlike the Windchaesrs and Red Lotus Uprising, they aren't really "united" as a group as they're only their again just to repair themselves.
  • Arc Words: "Everthing is fine", which is what three-fourths of the Gestalt use to tell everyone that things are fine.
  • The Apprentice: Gladion, Specter and Tokio are this to Hakurou once they return to the Infinity Train, as part of their attempts to ensure their skills don't become too rusty.
  • Beyond the Impossible: By all means, after their first trip ended in failure, it seemed like there was little to no chance for them to regroup because One-One is adamant on making sure they stay out of the Train. Then Augustine threatened to kill One-One for his negligence which made him rescind the ban.
Lampetia: They shouldn’t be here restarting their journeys. Yet, here they are once more! I can see Specter again, Easter, Gladion, Tokio, and even London! They are here despite everyone saying it’s impossible and that they shouldn’t return after everything they did.
  • Big Guy Fatality Syndrome: As part of Chiller's attempt to defeat the Gestalt, he knocks down all three of the heavy-hitters of the group. He makes Lampetia fall down a trap door (to the point London can't use his levitation to save her because her marble body is too heavy), Easter is taken outa fter accidentally ingesting Monster Blood, and London takes himself out by eating a cookie which turns him into a monster so no one else suffers through it. That's bad enough in and of itself, but there's one other thing this does...it's destabilizing Specter, the Gestalt's brains, because all three of them are his emotional crutches.
  • Broken Pedestal: All of them were once the heroic group going to stop the Apex...until one fatal mistake nearly destroyed the Train.
  • Byronic Hero: All of them — except Easter — had some sort of goal they wished to achieve, are dark, brooding, have dark pasts and are very dramatic.
  • Color Motif:
    • White is this to the group since most of them were wearing white when on the Train. Black is a secondary color as Gladion wears a black hoodie, Specter returns with a leather jacket and London has black hair — albeit somewhat greying — and matching top hat. Even the secondary members have this motif: the Rabbit Tribe members either wear all white (Mascarita), black (Mala Suerte) or both (Saltador), Lampetia is a white marble statue and drag-along Ai wears a black military coat. Both of their team names have "white" in their name, White Gestalt and Shiro Shinobi (Shiro means "White" in Japanese).
    • On an individual level, Tokio is associated with purple and black: he mostly wears purple and black shirts, his deck has purple and black cards and he was found by White Gesalt in the 400 Rabbits Car, which had a purple twilight.
  • Commonality Connection: The four passengers all have traumas that couldn't be healed and didn't know what to make of themselves after their sins (Gladion had no idea what to do now that Lillie was no longer traumatized, Specter was questioning his existence with most of the Ignis dead as he got picked up by the Train before Ai became the Big Bad of the 3rd Season, London has killed people and realized he's a murderer and Tokio had no idea how to move on when Utahoshi was killed) but still banded together to find something. Moreover, they were all accomplises for someone else's wicked deeds — Gladion indirectly let Faba hide the fact that he was the one who unleashed Nihilego all those years ago, Specter helped Ryoken unleash the Tower of Hanoi, London murdered people for the White Rabbit's schemes and Tokio helped Kisaragi form Project Solitaire.
  • Demoted to Extra: Outside of Specter, and by extension London for the first half of Act 1, the White Gestalt goes from the main group of Orange Lily to the tritagonists of sorts of this story.
  • Driven to Suicide: Gladion and Specter are ready to kill themselves when the memories return, with the latter specifically having to be held back from the knives in the kitchen. It's heavily implied London himself wants to die from everything he's had to go through as he chokes out Grace and Simon.
  • Dwindling Party: Horrorland Car handicaps everyone except Gladion thanks to Chiller playing them all like a fiddle. By the end of Part 1, the only members whose fates we know are certain are his, Tokio, and Specter's. Thankfully this is reversed in Part 2 and all of them are safe and sound.
  • Early-Bird Cameo:
    • Photos of Gladion and Specter are found in the Toy Brick Car when Blacksmith Pratt shows off some of his previous shield designs. Specter gets referenced in the Ninjala Car via a Sneeze Cut when Dr. Yung wishes he'd like to know who helped create the Infinet.
    • Goh mentions Tokio to Gloria and Victor chapters before he appears in the Chocolate Car.
  • Elemental Motifs: Electricity or "light" given their color scheme, Easter being a lightning bolt and Lampetia's name specifically means "Shining one" in Greek.
  • The Exile: Their actions nearly destroying the Train caused One-One himself to take matters into his own hands and kick most of them out of the Train with their memories erased and forbidden from re-entering with London only staying behind to earn his freedom the old fashioned way. After Sycamore puts fear in One-One, the ban gets removed.
  • Eye Motifs: A subtle motif involves their eyes. Gladion's tic has him place a hand over one of his eye, London would wear shades throughout Act 1 and Specter/Easter's eyes were usually emphasized for their blue color. Later members include Lampetia — whose gimmick as a kore means anything she sees is passed onto her sisters — and the drag-along Ai, whose name is a homophone for "Eye" due to the fact he was nothing but an eyeball when he and Yusaku first met.
  • Faint in Shock: When White Gestalt reunite at the Monster City Car, Gladion, Specter and Tokio faint at seeing Rimuru transform from slime to human form.
  • Famed In-Story:
    • Zigzagged; by the time Augustine enters the Train, all that's known is Gladion and Specter's photos from the Toy Brick Car, and White Gestalt is an urban legend due to the memory wipe. Then again, there is a reason for that...
    • In Horrorland Car, Jonathan Chiller specifically wants to play a hunting game with them because of their tendency to survive the more macabre cars on the Train.
Chiller: You conquered a myriad of horror throughout your initial trip. The 400 Rabbits, the Village of Whirlpools, Shock Street, Dr. Killjoy’s laboratory, even Silent Hill …and if I managed to hunt you down, my name will go down in history!
  • Fire-Forged Friends: The group did not get along when they first met and by the time they left, it was unknown as to whether or not their adventure changed them outside Gladion being a bigger brother figure to Tokio and London keeping contact with Specter in Wisteria once Infinet is up and running. When they reunite at long last in Crocus, their bonds are closer than ever before which Specter — he who wanted nothing to do with White Gestalt in general — tells Ai.
  • Foregone Conclusion: Their attempt to stop the Apex failed like it did in Blossoming Trail since the Apex need to be around for Book 3 and when Chloe goes on her personal quest to stop them.
  • Freak Out: Gladion, Specter and Tokio do not react to their memories returning very well with Gladion about to take a pen for non-writing purposes, Specter has to be pulled away from the kitchen so he doesn't get a knife and Tokio claws at his face and muttering how he's the "White Rabbit". The Elephant Teapot Car has Gladion calmed down considerably, stating the rush of memories coming back at once wasn't really pleasant.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: When the geass breaks and their memories return, Gladion, Specter and Tokio either revert to their traumatized selves or are willing to kill themselves to end it all.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: Their attempt to put a stop on the Apex for good instead caused them to nearly destroy the Train in a panic.
  • Good Wears White: Fitting for their name, the White Gestalt are decked out in pristine white outfits. London's original attire was his white Presley suit — later into his old white wrestling gear — while Easter sticks to a white ensemble (because their base form was Specter back when he wore white) while Specter keeps a pair of white pants on him and has silver-white hair. Meanwhile Lampetia is a pure white marble statue.
  • The Greatest Story Never Told: Zigzagged; individual stuff they did on the Train is remembered, but their time as White Gestalt has been completely forgotten due to a Geass enacted on One-One. And for good reason...
  • Intergenerational Friendship: London (nearing 40) and Specter (16) have the closet friendship with one another, particularly since London would sacrifice his own chance of escaping if it means Specter gets back to his own world.
  • In-Series Nickname: The group's nickname is "G-Salt".
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: Hope you read Knight of the Orange Lily to get most of the references to their escapades.
  • Let's Split Up, Gang!: In Horrorland Car, Gladion has to tell everyone in the party at the point (himself, Specter, Tokio, Easter, and Ai) that they need to split up to cover more ground and to stop Chiller's hunters from attacking them.
  • Long Ranged Fighter Short Ranged Fighter: As a whole, Easter and Tokio are the long-range (the former fires lightning bolts, the latter throws explosive playing cards) whereas Gladion and London are somewhere in the middle (with Gladion throwing the chain of the kusarigama to immobilize an opponent before getting close to slice them while London can use wrestling moves or hurl items with telekinesis) while Specter must use his staff at close combat.
  • Manly Tears: The group isn't afraid to let their emotions out through tears. Specter tears up when he finally sees Lampetia, Easter and London weep tears of joy when they see Specter ready to join on their trip, and Gladion unleashes these when he blames himself for what happened on their Train Trip.
  • Meaningful Name: Gestalt is a word defined as "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" and the word has a letter based off each member, reflecting how all of them are better off when they're together.
  • Meaningful Rename: At the end of the Horrorland Car, they decide to rename themselves as "Shiro Shinobi" (White Ninja) to reflect how they will support Augustine and Chloe from the shadows.
  • My Greatest Second Chance: The trip across the train after Augustine helps lift the ban is this, as they can finally heal without having to worry about the Apex wreaking havoc since the Windchasers and Red Lotus Uprising will finish the job for them.
  • Naked People Are Funny: Both Gladion and Specter wear swimming trunks during their stay at the Soda Beach Resort car (London is back in his wrestling gear during the fight with Ai and Tokio is wearing a purple swimming shirt to hide his tattoo) and when London makes note that they kicked @Ignister butt in nothing but speedos, it sinks in they're basically naked right around the time denizens (and fangirls) come in with phones taking photos of them.
Gladion: (covering himself and hiding behind Lycanroc) A knight needs pants! NOW!!!
Specter: Easter get my clothes in my storage orb! NOW!
  • Odd Friendship: One member is part of a hacking group who saw a tree as his mother and had little value for human life, another is a wrestler in his forties who used to wear a Elvis Presley jumpsuit while obsessing over white rabbits and murdered his own tribe members for guidance. Despite this, they consider each other good friends.
  • Putting the Band Back Together: After Augustine gets One-One to remove the ban on Gladion, Specter and Tokio in the Chocolate Car, the Routine arc is about bringing the White Gestalt back together and they reunite at the Monster City Car at the final car of the Routine Arc. However, in terms of actually working together, they're still having trouble ironing out the kinks.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: From Red to Blue it's Easter, London, Specter, Tokio and Gladion.
  • Regained Memories Sequence: Gladion, Specter and Tokio go through one of these once their ban is lifted. They don't take it well.
  • Sanity Slippage: None of them — except Easter since the geass only affects the passengers — are mentally stable from the Geass and their memories returning. Even London seems to be barely hanging on at this point.
  • Spell My Name with a "The": The group's initial name can be read as either White Gestalt or The White Gestalt.
  • Theme Naming: The names of every (main) member start with one of the letters for "Gestalt" and placed in order of the spelling of gestalt itself.
  • There Are No Therapists: Zigzagged. Gladion wasn't given therapy as he shown to be fine up until the search for his father had them go on a Train. Specter can't get therapy due to his status as a cyber-terrorist (and Ryoken's insistence there's no train) and Tokio mentions he's taken therapy to Gladion, even using a technique when Specter has a panic attack, before lampshading that Gladion should really go get therapy some time.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: The group has this look when they find themselves entering the Horrorland Car, knowing they'll have to go through another horrifying amusement park.
  • Training from Hell: Once they become Hakurou's apprentices in Act 1, he puts them through quite the hell in helping them regain their skills.
  • Tragic Hero: All of them wanted to save the Train from the Apex; they ended up nearly destroying the Train with their actions. Gladion's final words before he left the train cement it — he just wanted to be the knight whosaved everyone.
  • Tritagonist: The group as a whole become this for the Windchasers and Red Lotus Uprising, as their goal is to have their second chance to heal. By Act 2, they also start getting tangled up with Elipzo's plots when Ai coincidentally comes to them with Lampetia's heart, despite said heart originally being in the hands of an Apex child.
  • True Companions: Act 2 is when the group truly cement as partners. When Gladion asks who wishes to join him on a new quest to be the shadowy support for the Windchasers and Red Lotus Uprising everyone raises their hand in solidarity.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Gladion, Specter and London are topless when they spend time in the Soda Beach Resort Car due to wearing swimming trunks. Lampshaded after the group finally finishes their fight against Ai.
London: (after he nicknames Specter "titty master") Well tell me this, out of the four passengers of the Gestalt, who has been running around and kicking ass in speedos?note
(cue a pause before Gladion and Specter realize this just as denizens are taking photos of them)
  • Walking Spoiler: While it was obvious that Augustine would meet with Chloe, it was unexpected that Gladion's group would also become integral in the story or even be reference in a alternate spin of Blossoming Trail.

Main Group

    Gladion Montblanc

Gladion Montblanc

"I was supposed to be...the knight."

"Show's over. Gestalt wins!"

Appears in: Seeker of Crocus (Mentioned, First appearance: The Ninjala Car) | The Firefly Funhouse Car (Mentioned)

Older brother of Lillie and son of Lusamine, head of the Aether Foundation. He was once a passenger on the Infinity Train and is the legendary "Knight of the Orange Lily" and leader of White Gestalt.

  • Adaptational Badass: Most of his fights on the Train had him rely on his PokĂ©mon and his weapon was a shield for protection. Thanks to training from Hakurou, and the kusarigama London gifted him, Gladion is capable of fighting and pinning opponents down.
  • Alice Allusion: His mental palace has him being surrounded by talking flowers and he wished to be like the white knight.
  • The Beastmaster: While this is true for any PokĂ©mon Trainer who gets on the Train, Gladion is an exception in that he's one of the more successful trainers to have survived thanks to them.
  • Character Development: The Horrorland Car has him personally ask himself what he's doing now that he isn't going after the Apex. He ultimately decides he wishes to move forward, sparing Jonathan Chiller from getting his photo taken by the cursed camera and deciding to support Augustine and Chloe in the shadows.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Mentions to Tokio that he gets chapped lips and brought at least five tubes of lip balm on him.
  • Chuunibyou: He's specifically described as one of these, given the black, his edgy attitude, his dark PokĂ©mon, the dramatic poses, and being wrapped up in his own narrative. Yuri even nicknames him "The chuni" because of it. Fittingly, his tarot card is the reversed Knight of Cups, which ticks off every trait a chuni has. This also is one of his flaws; he's been so caught up in his delusion of being a knight that he thinks he has to do large, dramatic things in order to prove himself instead of doing something more mundane that can get the job done. The idea of Gladion being "simple" is hard for him to comprehend.
  • A Day in the Limelight: "The Horrorland Car" technically works as one for White Gestalt as a whole, but Gladion plays the biggest part in the car, as every other member ends up being either taken out or placed out of commission thanks to Chiller's machinations, and he has to focus on what he can do when he essentially has no idea what he's supposed to do with his second chance.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He's a chuni with a black hoodie and has two Dark-type PokĂ©mon in his party, but he's truly a noble character who took it upon himself to get strong to protect his sister and his desires to stop the Apex was so that they don't hurt anyone ever again. He later obtains a knife that allows him to summon a dark mist, but he's still a good-hearted person in the end.
  • Deal with the Devil: Defied. Gladion is asked twice by Uncle Howdy and Madame Doom — who may or may not be Goetia — if he wants to make a deal with them. He refuses under the reasoning that he won't "take shit from demons". He only makes a request from the latter to help those "more desperate than him".
  • Did Not Think This Through:
    • His backstory as to what initially got him on the Train. Leaving his family to train was fine. Not revealing he was personally there for all these years and could've healed Lillie's traumas sooner wasn't.
    • As a whole, his plot to use the Tape Car to stop the Apex had him not prepare for whether or not the Apex were actually able to confront their painful memories or how they'd be (rightfully) pissed off for what he did.
    • Against Ai's @Ignister monsters, Gladion tells Lycanroc to make a Stone Edge arena to trap them. Ai then tells Gladion that five of his monsters have wings they can use to fly and Gladion notes he should've thought about that.
    • When granted a wish by Madame Doom, he asks that she helps those "more desperate than me". Unfortunately the first one who will be given that blessing is Grace, because she's currently stuck under the watchful eye of Elipzo. Thus more desperate than Gladion.
  • Expository Hair Style Change: As part of his attempt to get out of their predicament in Horrorland Car, Gladion changes his hairstyle from upward ponytail to a downward one, reflecting a change in him starting to take charge of his own destiny (bonus points, he's actually emulating the main character of the game Shadow of Destiny).
  • Failed a Spot Check: In Horrorland Car, King Raven repeatedly tries to tell him to look under the drawer of the vaniy table to find a kore heart. Gladion refuses to notice the plush raven's antics, not helping that King Raven can't speak, and leaves to get help. When he returns, he can only facepalm at his stupidity.
  • Fatal Flaw:
    • His short-sightedness. His attempts to be a knight to protect Lillie from the Nihilego incident meant he aggravated his sister's problems by keeping the information about it away from her and her mother instead of actually staying by Lillie's side and explain what's going on. Moreover, he was so focused on his endgoal that he didn't consider the consequences that nearly led to the destruction of the Train itself.
    • His pride. Gladion prided himself in the "sacrifices" he made to protect his sister, without realizing the only thing he should've done was just tell her the truth. In Horrorland Car, while he refuses to take the easy way out to escape the car to gather supplies after everyone else in White Gestalt has been disarmed, it still takes him time to admit he does need help in some areas.
    • His loner attitude. Gladion is so used to doing things by himself he has no way of leaning on others for support. For all he lambasted Lillie, she's not the one on the Train because she still has her friends to keep her calm, whereas Gladion struggles with this concept.
  • Flower Motifs: Lilies, in general, given that his name is based off of the sword lily, and his sister's name is Lillie. But in particular, he's associated with orange lilies, based on a bouquet of orange gladious lilies that Lillie gave him that accidentally sent him on the train in the first place. It's said to be the main symbol of his shield and many denizens in the Canals of Fondue Car pay tribute to his statue with various bouquets. Orange lilies are a passive way of telling someone "F you", because Lillie hated him for abandoning her when she needed it the most.
  • Genre Savvy: When Uncle Howdy asks to make a deal, he quickly shuts it down by stating that he "won't take shit from demons". The same goes for Madame Doom as he's aware that his wish might be twisted so he simply asks that she help those "more desperate than me". Too bad he didn't consider an Apex leader as a potential soul...
  • Guyliner: Starts wearing eyeliner in the Horrorland Car in order to make him look more like a vampire.
  • In-Series Nickname: "Mr. Lily", "Lily Knight", and "The chuni" are his most well-known ones. Madame Doom calls him "Glade".
  • Insult of Endearment: His statue in the Canals of Fondue Car is showered with orange lilies, which usually stand for "I hate you" as this was a gift his own sister gave him for how he basically abandoned her all those years ago.
  • Irony:
    • His name is based on the Sword Lily, but his weapons are a shield and a sickle on a chain.
    • He leads White Gestalt but his normal attire is all black.
    • He's specifically labeled a chuni, stuck in a delusion he's a knight on an epic quest to smite evil. While that would normally see him as odd, he's considered the most normal out of his White Gestalt members when they return. London is still his cuckoo self, Specter has decided to roll with the punches with enthusiasm and Tokio has turned into a Mad Bomber.
  • It's All My Fault: He's initially stuck in a loop thinking his idea to use the Tape Car to make the Apex face themselves is what caused the total destruction of the Train. Unfortunately, this thinking nearly gave Augustine the bright idea to destroy One-One with his bare hands.
  • Jack of All Trades: Doesn't have a unique weapon like Tokio, doesn't have London's strength or telekinesis, and he falls behind in brains and raw potential to Specter. He's capable of working in every area though: he's a better trainer than Tokio, he's good at making things up on the fly like Specter, and his weapon(s) can do more than London's staff. He also has the least emotional baggage to go through, so he's the one who can think with a clear head most of the time.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: He's not in a good state of mind when he spews hate on his mother and his sister, but he is not in the wrong when he states both of them didn't care to be concerned about him due to either work or because they could care less about his struggles (and in Lillie's case is the reason he got on the Train).
  • The Leader: As the one most gung-ho in stopping the Apex and the one who originally got the idea how to stop them, he becomes this for the group.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Invoked; Lillie states he should not learn about Rainbow Rocket invading Alola lest it distract him from his quest to get his number down, not to mention even if he wasn't on the Train, he wouldn't be enough to stop Giovanni and his Mewtwo anyhow.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is based off of the Gladiolus, or "Sword lily", befitting how he wishes to see himself as a knight and the lily being a flower associated with him.
  • Mirror Character: To Grace Monroe, obviously. Both are stuck in their delusions of being an expert instead of properly communicating what they want, and leads a group across the Train. The difference is that Grace refuses to change her mind and corrupts people so she can feel noticed and loved, while Gladion has realized how him keeping secrets hurt his sister and works with the White Gestalt as equals. They also wield knives, with Grace stealing hers from another passenger and Gladion's was found in a book which belonged to a previous passenger. Grace's knife can kill anything non-human to represent how she's aggressive and using the knife to hurt others. Gladion's knife creates a dark mist to obscure and hide anything within.
  • My Greatest Failure: Running away to train instead of properly explaining things to his sister about the Nihilego incident hangs on him, as it was the reason he got on the Train on the first place.
At the very least, Gladion should’ve said good-bye. He should’ve told Lillie that he would come back and then tell her everything. Now he couldn’t look back at how he blamed Ash for Lillie’s regression when the boy had no idea that all of this was going to happen.
  • Mythical Motifs: Act 2 starts giving him a vampire motif. He has to disguise himself as one to infiltrate the castle he, Specter, and Tokio are stuck in, he picks up a bottle of "Vampire Breath" for later, and he also gets a knife that only activates its power by feeding it blood.
  • Mythology Gag: Once it sinks in during the Soda Beach Resort Car that he was fighting in swimming shorts — and there are denizens taking photos of him — he shouts, "A knignt needs pants! NOW!" which is what he said back in Knight of the Orange Lily after he tore off his clothes in front of Margaret.
  • Nervous Wreck: When he makes his first physical appearance at the end of the Ninjala Car, he's shown like this.
  • Not Bad: Comments on this when he's given gloves from Specter.
  • Not So Above It All: Can't help but give a laugh when Tokio's Chikorita vine whips Specter into the ocean of the Soda Beach Car.
  • Not Himself: Rather than being his usual aloof self, he acts like a Nervous Wreck when we first see him. This is just one of many hints that something is going on.
  • Only Sane Man: Horrorland Car reveals he's mostly the sane one and doesn't have any hang-ups for Chiller to work with. Specter can't focus when his partners are endangered, Easter's curiosity got the best of them, London is too self-sacrificing, and Tokio has a lot of bitterness he's not willing to address. Outside of Ai, whom Chiller doesn't pay attention to, and Lampetia, who fell into a trap door, Gladion makes it out of Chiller House scot-free with no disadvantages outside of his internal conflict between personal revenge and trying to be better
  • Out of Focus: Out of the original Gestalt members, he has a lack of a presence once he gets back on the Train since he has no idea why he wants to get back if Augustine and Chloe are cleaning up his mess. In contrast, London is busy with his own meanderings, Specter wants a real reset and Tokio has some unfinished business with Kisaragi. Horrorland Car has him be the focus character and he's the one working to escape their situation and comes to terms on what he wants to do on the Train now that his original quest is done.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Invoked. In Horrorland Car, he has to put on a disguise by adding makeup to his face and tells Tokio he carries lip balm to prevent his lips from chapping.
  • Red Baron: "Knight of the Orange Lily" as it was based off of his signature brick shield with an orange lily on it and his desires to be a knight.
  • The Resenter: He shows traits of this when he returns to the Infinity Train, still mad he can't fulfill his quest to stop the Apex and both Augustine and Chloe will take it upon themselves to finish it. He later moves on in the Horrorland Car.
  • Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: Gladion believed Lillie would hate her for being a coward who didn't save her in time from Nihilego. So he ran away to become stronger, only to find out Lillie got pissed off for never telling any of this stuff sooner.
"He ran away because she would be angry he didn’t protect her…and then she hated him for running away and keeping everything secret. No matter what he did, his sister despised him."
  • Self-Proclaimed Knight: His goal was to become a knight who saved everyone, but he ends up nearly destroying the Train in his short-sightedness.
  • Sinister Scythe: His weapon on his return trip is a kusarigama, a hand sickle that has a chain with a weight at the bottom.
  • Spell Blade: A variation; the weight at the end of his kusarigama can absorb the attacks of his PokĂ©mon which he uses in combination with the chain to weaken enemies.
  • Tarot Motifs: Horrorland Car has his card be the Reversed Knight of Cups, which highlights every characteristic of a chuni: delusional, moody, jealous, and having an overactive imagination.
  • Weak, but Skilled: By himself, Gladion is only as strong as a normal teenager. However, he's in control of four very powerful PokĂ©mon, not to mention he was the runner-up to the Alola League, and is capable of coordinating attacks with them which amplifies the effects of his kusarigama.
  • Whole Costume Reference: In Horrorland Part 2, he styles his hair and wears a green coat to resemble Eike Kusch.

    Easter

Easter (Short for "Earth-as-Specter")

"The Apex? You think you [Chloe and Augustine] can stop the Apex without consequences?"

Appears: Seeker of Crocus (First Appearance: The Twisted Lab Car)

A living lightning bolt from the Living Lightning Car. They're the former partner of Specter, which is where they get their form from.

  • Achilles' Heel:
    • Their electricity doens't do well with earth-based monsters, like Ai's Earth Golem @Ignister.
    • They, and by extension Harmonic Storm, can't unleash their powers near a body of water else hurting people soaked to the bone.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Easter in the original Blossomeverse doesn't get as much time elaborating on their backgrounds and what little we know of their car is referenced in Knight of the Orange Lily. Here, Easter discusses some history of their home, the Living Lightning Car and Horrorland Car has them divulge the situation that caused them to fall out of the sky in the first place.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: They're slightly less hyper than in Knight of the Orange Lily and Voyage of Wisteria and act more like a voice of reason amongst the angst-filled White Gestalt.
  • Animal Lover: They absolutely love cuddling all the PokĂ©mon in the Cerise Park.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Imitating Specter. Thinking this is the case is the reason why they hate Lexi with a passion. London has to remind them that Lexi was Buried Alive during the time Specter was on the Train and would have no idea who that person is.
    • They take pride of their gender and name and get annoyed when even given a playful nickname like "East". The fact tht Tony accidentally calls them "Mr. Sparky" and they don't correct him is a sign something is wrong.
    • Finally, implying King Lugh could be used for evil (as said King is the reason why the Living Lightning Car exists) is another way to make them literally lash out.
  • Circling Birdies: After going through a Metronomic Man Mashing by Earth Golem @Ignister, they see fireflies circling their head.
  • The Conscience: Act like London's conscience and tells the wrestler to quit running away and face his problems.
  • Cry into Chest: Does this when they finally reunite with Specter, apologizing for being so pushy.
  • Cuddle Bug: They love hugging cute things or tackling Specter in this matter.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Squeals in delight at all the PokĂ©mon at the Cerise Institute and starts hugging them.
  • Demonic Possession: They're capable of taking control of other people with varying results. Notably, when they take over Augustine, Augustine was able to see into their memories.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap:
    • Easter is the most powerful member of the Gestalt, as their electricity rips through the target like a knife through butter. Unfortunately, the first monster Ai summons in their fight at the Soda Beach Car s the one associated with the Earth Ignis, thus their electrical attacks do nothing but empower the golem.
    • Them chewing on some candy, actually Monster Blood, in Horrorland Car, prevents them from using electricity. Later revealed that it's a mutagenic slime creature packaged as Monster Blood which they eventually vomit.
  • Easily Forgiven: Despite everything they did to Specter in the Fog Car — placing Specter through Electric Torture in retaliation for Specter kicking them out of a window ahd their pushy behavior — Specter apologizes for instigating everything and is the one to first ask forgiveness.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: They have diamond pupils.
  • Foil: An obvious one to Lexi, due to them having a similar "base" but contrasting personalities and origins. Whereas Lexi is a book who can shuffle his papers to form anything he wants, Easter only got their form after striking Specter down and absorbing enough energy to separate and is stuck as they are. Lexi is the prince of Azada, Easter is a random lightning bolt who coincidentally bonded with a human. Lexi's wish was to explore the Train while Easter just wanted to have their own body. Finally, while both were abused by their original denizen partners, Lexi ended up traumatized from Grace and Simon burying him alive while (part of) Easter was kicked out of a window by Specter, but has forgiven him for his crimes. Amusingly, Lexi acts more like Specter as the calm, stoic figure whereas Easter actually is bonded with Specter and openly shows their emotions.
  • The Glomp: If they get a chance to hug Specter, they will.
Specter: (upon seeing a lightning bolt emerge out of one of Rimuru's portals, deadpan) And why am I not surprised? (Gets tackled)
Easter: (sobbing) I missed you! Why did you leave meeeeee?!note
  • Goal in Life: Easter didn't have anything they wanted to do with their life until they fell off a cloud and struck Specter on the way down. In their words, "If I can be friends with him, I’d be happy.”
  • Hard Light: Because of some shenanigans due to them transferring themselves into Specter's Duel Disk, they were able to gain a semi-solid holographic body.
  • Harmless Electrocution: Being electrocuted does nothing to them because they're already a lightning bolt and just absorb the attacks.
  • Hates Being Nicknamed: They take pride at their name and is ready to attack Yuri when he playfully calls them "East". It's telling that Easter doesn't attack Tony when he accidentally calls them "Mr. Sparky", because they're angry over the idea that King Lugh — the savior of the Living Lightning Bolts — might be using his powers for evil. This become even more ironic since their name, "Easter", is itself a nickname that's short for their originall name, "Earth-as-Specter".
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Non-fatal version. They fell out of the sky by swapping places with a younger lightning bolt about to be trampled by cloud cattle.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Does not like being nicknamed...and yet doesn't seem to recognize Easter itself is a nickname.
  • I Hate Past Me: Is disgusted with how they tortured Specter and let their anger get the best of them, represented at how they keep a memory of Specter bound to a hospital bed and electrocute it.
  • I'm Taking Her Home with Me!: Says this about Parker and wants to bring him onto the Train. Chloe threatens to beat them down if they try such a tactic.
  • In-Series Nickname: Yuri playfully calls them "East" and Tony calls them "Mr. Sparky". Their actual name, "Easter", also counts as this, given it's short for "Earth-as-Specter".
  • Irrational Hatred: They immediately grow to hate Lexi because they think he's posing as Specter...Despite Lexi being buried underground during that time. This eventually grows out when more serious matters come into play.
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: Specter would always call them "it" which wounded them dearly during his initial trip. Ryoken picks up on it later on while Specter respectfully uses gender-neutral pronouns.
  • It Was a Gift: Once they reunite in the Monster City Car, Specter gifts them a small mirror broach to wear for identification.
  • Keet: Can be very hyper and would probably be jumping off the walls if either London or Specter isn't telling them to stop.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: London sums up they're actually a denizen, not Specter's Split Personality as initially believed.
  • Lightning Lash: Is capable of creating a whip made of lightning and is about to use one to lash out at everyone when they learn King Lugh is being used for evil. It gets intercepted by Specter.
  • Masculine, Feminine, Androgyne Trio: The Androgyne to Masculine Specter and Feminine Lampetia.
  • Meaningful Name: Easter is a holiday dedicated to Spring, rebirth and rabbits and London named them when they were introduced back in the 400 Rabbits Car. A fitting contrast to the passenger who is named after death and fear.
  • Metronomic Man Mashing: Gets thrown into this by Earth Golem @Ignister and can only whimper an "Ow" when the torture ends.
  • Mirror Character:
    • Specter is to Jesse Cosay as Easter is to Lake. Easter has their image modeled after someone else (like Lake was once the reflection of Tulip Olsen) but sticks to a form similar to Specter. While Lake was made of metal, Easter's body is made of Hard Light and uses electricity. Lake's mission was to find a life outside the Train and exit it, while Easter wanted to have a human body before learning to separate. It took near the end of Lake's journey before she found her name, while Easter was given a shortened version of what they wanted ("Earth-as-Specter") by London when they first introduced themselves. And neither of them liked any type of insulting nicknames or slurs: Lake had to deal with the Fantastic Slurs of the Mirror Cops and the Apex (and even got mad when Jesse jokingly called her "Chrome Girl") while Easter gets picky when Yuri calls them "East" in a teasing manner.
    • They're one to Ash's Pikachu, being the electrical partner to their respective human friend. While Pikachu is known to be serious, Easter has a more energetic Keet personality. Pikachu showed no signs of liking Ash until Ash's stand against the Spearow flock in the rain, whereas Easter tried to get close to Specter who rejected them and even kicked them out of a window. Pikachu is a small electrical rodent who can speak his name, Easter was initially a lightning bolt before obtaining a human body made of Hard Light.
  • Mythology Gag: Specter gifts them a mirror broach, which is something the Specter of Infinity Train: Melancholy Afterlife wore (albeit that was partially justified since Specter was a tsukumogami and the mirror broach was tied to their existence).
  • No Biological Sex: Takes form of the male Specter, but they're originally a lighting bolt and prefers using "they" pronouns when describing themselves.
  • Non-Human Non-Binary: Is a non-binary lightning bolt denizen even though they're based off of a male.
  • Only One Name: Just goes by Easter, which is a shortened version of "Earth-as-Specter".
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: "Easter" is the only thing people ever calls them, despite it being short for "Earth-as-Specter".
  • Only Sane Man: Since the geass only affects passengers and not denizens, they're the most mentally well-adjusted member of White Gestalt when the story begins.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When Tony reveals someone wanted to bring a message about some guy with a burning spear, Easter's attitude becomes that of Specter when they realize King Lugh — the deity who built their home — has turned evil. Another hint comes from Tony calling them "Mr. Sparky" and they neither get angry on being given a nickname nor how Tony accidentally used the wrong gender they got annoyed when Yuri called them "East".
  • Sense Freak: They really like cuddling and hugging everyone they see. Most of the time, they glomp Specter and they are ecastatic to hug all the PokĂ©mon in the Cerise Institute.
  • Shock and Awe: As they're a living lightning bolt, electricity comes easy to them.
  • Stealth Pun: They have fireflies circle their head in Act 2. Fireflies are also known as lightning bugs.
  • Stupid Sexy Flanders: Upon seeing Lexi's new knight appearance, they can only scream "OH NO HE'S HOT!!!" in horror.
  • Tears of Joy: Starts sobbing these — while possessing London — when Specter decides to get back on the Train to make amends. Also starts wailing these when Specter hands them a gift.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: Being electrocuted doesn't hurt them, as they're a living lightning bolt. When Pikachu tries — after Easter pulls on his cheeks — the lightning bolt just states it tickled.
  • Twofer Token Minority: The only denizen and non-binary member of White Gestalt.
  • Token Non-Human: As said before, they're the only Denizen among the original group who composed the White Gestalt.
  • Unknown Rival: Hates Lexi on the basis that the paper prince is "copying" Specter. Lexi has no idea who they are because Lexi was Buried Alive by the time Specter was on the Train. When the two finally meet, which is when Lexi is no longer "copying" Specter, Easter can't help but exclaim how handsome Lexi looks.
  • Vague Age: It's hard to describe how old Easter is supposed to be; even though their current form is based on Specter (who is around 16 - 18), it doesn't really explain how long Easter has lived as a lightning bolt, especially when you compare them to Lexi being 20 in "book years" but actually 10 in human. Horrorland Part 2 has them describe their past as a "young" lightning bolt, but again, it doesn't give a concrete answer.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: They were initially looked down by Specter, who had a tendency to use "it" pronouns, while interactions with the other White Gestalt members was through apprehension at best with London being the closest to actually treating them as their own person. By the time the story comes around, London has been partnered with Easter that they see each other as partners, Gladion and Tokio don't have any will towards them and Specter has learned to see Easter as their own person, whereas Ryoken has taken up Specter's hatred and use of calling them an "it".
  • Yellow Lightning, Blue Lightning: Their lightning attacks are colored blue.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: Easter tells Specter that so long as their kind are fine in their fluffy cloud community, they're essentially immortal. Once they fall and strike a vessel, their life force depends on whoever they were possessing. It's a good thing they connected to the one who carries a mini hologram-projector on their arm.

Paul London

"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't just kill them [Grace and Simon] and save everyone the trouble; if the White Gestalt's going down, I'll take them with me. I've killed before, I can do it again!”

Appears in: Seeker of Crocus (Debut, The Twisted Lab Car) | Rey Mysterio vs the Cosmos (Mentioned)

A passenger in a white suit and top hat whom the Windchasers encounter in the Noodle Car who's had experience with the Apex and Silent Hill.

  • Achilles' Heel: London's levitation is a godsend that he can use to levitate objects to stop them from attacking or to have them return to sender. However, Act 2 reveals there's a limit to this — he can't use it very long on objects (or denizens) that are heavy or if they're strong enough to counter his telekinesis. For example, in Horrorland Car, he's only able to momentarily prevent Lampetia from falling, but since she's a marble statue, she's near impossible for London to pull back, and he has no choice but to drop her.Explanation
  • Adaptational Modesty: His Lucha Underground Presley suit has a sequin-studded codpiece. The story has the codpiece removed and instead just goes for sequins around the crotch instead.
  • Alice Allusion: His Rabbit Tribe gimmick is essentially one Wonderland reference: his codename is the Mad Hatter and he followed the human called "The White Rabbit".
  • Berserk Button:
    • If there is one thing will make him berserk is insults about Specter's well-being, given how he spent weeks traveing with him and saw him in a vulnerable position. He also hates being called an "ogre" by Ryoken.
    • Manipulating his feelings via a Secret Test of Character is another one for him as he strikes Asher across the head after Asher used a Slime from the Twisted Lab Car to impersonate Gladion to see whether or not London would go as far as murder him.
    • Aerostar is a walking version of this trope as it's really a reminder of everything he's trying to escape from. Same thing with Rey Mysterio.
  • The Big Guy: Not counting Easter and later Lampetia, he's the strongest and tallest of the Getsalt passengers.note  He is the one who is capable of getting into a brawl, and his psychic powers gives him enough of an edge to keep up to the younger and speedier Gestalt kids.
  • Bleed 'Em and Weep: Putting a Mercy Kill on Lampetia made him break down in despair, a contrast to how he offered three Rabbit Tribe members die with a grin on his face or was apparently enraged to murder the White Rabbit in his world.
  • Body Horror: During the events of the Harvest Moon Car, London somehow turns into some reptilian monster.
  • Boring, but Practical: While the other White Gestalt members have either PokĂ©mon, crazy super powers or unique weapons, London (outside of his levitation) sticks to what's essentially a wooden club. But a wooden club is still a wooden club and it's easy to prepare, to swing and will still hurt like hell if you get hit by it.
  • Closet Key: Downplayed; many people in Den City assume this is London's role in making Specter realize his sexuality. However, London points out he's heterosexual and the co-author states London instead invoked the feeling of friendship and companionship with Specter.
  • Cool Shades: His eyes are covered in a pair of sunglasses with white frames. If he has to remove them, that means business is about to pick up. At the start of Act 2, he crushes them as a sign he's ready to move on from his Rabbit Tribe past.
  • Curse Cut Short: His reaction when he's left with Kisaragi's rabbit mask in an attempt to have Kisaragi take Hazel and Tuba far far away from Grace, Simon and the Fog Car in general.
    London: FUUUUUUUU-
  • The Cynic: He's quite morose and whenever he's smiling, it's more to hide the fact he really has self-loathing issues. By Act 2, he's learning to move forward.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He sought guidance in a being called the White Rabbit who told him to sacriice others for it. When he realized what he did, London murdered his White Rabbit before getting onto the Train.
  • Devoted to You: In a platonic sense; Specter wishes to make amends to the wrestler after the bad blood between them and to pay back for the wrestler's sacrifice back in the Fog Car, to the point his #1 reason to get back on the train is to see him again.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: Someone with telekinesis means all sorts of problems can go bye-bye. That said, London needs plenty of handicaps to keep him from being broken.
    • Why isn't someone with experience against the Apex, has telekinesis and a lightning partner not going to help Chloe? Because if he's exposed, the Apex recall what happened when they last fought and it would end badly. As shown when he fights Grace and Simon, he could easily just kill the two without even moving an inch.
    • Having telekinesis means he's capable of deflecting most attacks or stop them in their place. The only way to make sure he doesn't overpower everyone is something having to distract his concentration or whatever he's fighting is too powerful for him to use telekinesis on for a long period of time.
    • As if the Horrorland Car wasn't bad enough with Easter and Lampetia gone, but his decision to take the Creep Cookie — that turns anyone who eats it into a mindless drooling reptilian thing — because Specter is more important, means White Gestalt now has to deal with a telekinetic monster. Moreover, since most of the cars on the Train are based on pop-culture references, something London would have knowledge of because he comes from the real world, then Gestalt also loses his knowledge of how to deal with most of the puzzles the Goosebumps inspired car will throw at them.
  • Easily Forgiven: When Lampetia returns in Act 2, she has no hard feelings for London having to kill her as she understands it was a tough decision. Specter himself, who took this death the hardest, also buries the hatchet.
  • Enraged by Idiocy: And that idiocy comes from the two cult leaders who won't stop talking about killing denizens!
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • He's murdered people in the past, he's ready to murder Grace and Simon for their atrocities, but he will not kill to enact assisted suicide like he did with Lampetia. The idea of having Gladion requested to be killed by London's hand is enough for him to step back.
    • He does not have a good opinion on Ryoken, given how Ryoken was willing to commit genocide to kill six AI and the fact he doesn't give a flying feather about Specter's well-being.
  • Flipping the Bird: Gives a middle finger to Ai when he proclaims he and Specter should Get a Room!.
  • Foil:
    • To Grace and Simon. Grace and Simon are teens who have been on the Train for eight years while London is middle-aged and has been on it for three years. Grace and Simon proudly lead a cult in the Apex that consists of children while London is the only member of the Rabbit Tribe and does not want to be a leader. Grace and Simon brag and boast about injuring and killing denizen and have never killed a human (the possibility of it being a human reincarnated into a human notwithstanding), whereas London has killed humans and the only time he killed a denizen has him a broken wreck.
    • To Ryoken. Ryoken is a 18-year-old hacker while London is a wrestler nearing 40. Ryoken leads the Knights of Hanoi — who are all loyal to him — while London would rather not be the White Rabbit and his Rabbit tribe members hate him. Ryoken does not believe the craziness of the Train and pushed Specter into his room when he returned with the geass, whereas London is a wrestler and comes from a world where anything and everything is possible in the world of kayfabe and the first thing he does with renewed spirit is to get Specter back to recover. Also, Ryoken is usually addressed by his first name, whereas everyone calls London by his last name.
  • Freaky Fashion, Mild Mind: For those who don't watch wrestling, his Rabbit Tribe attire from Lucha Underground can be described as a Mad Hatter/Elvis Presly-esque jumpsuit that has a black rabbit insignia with black Aztec glyphs circling it on the back, and he also has sequins...around the crotchnote , combined with a nice top hat and sunglasses. Yet he's the one who gives advice and life-lessons to the other Gestalt members.
  • A Friend in Need: Despite Specter really hating London for getting in his space — and killing Lampetia — London still went out of his way to protect the Knight of Hanoi in the Fog Car when Specter's anger gets the best of him and nearly died trying to stop Pyramid Head from enacting justice. To explain how serious this is, back in Knight of the Orange Lily, Specter begged to the heavens that he'd do anything if London recovered. This act is what changes Specter and makes him realize how self-sacrificing London was. His retort to Ryoken is what cements Specter to go back to the Train as well.
Ryoken: My business is my business and none of yours or this train at all! Why are you even bothering with my traumatized underling like Specter?
London: Because I'm his friend. And friends care for one another!
  • Geas: One-One placed one on him (London originally said it was Gladion), making him unable to say or write the names of the other Gestalt members and make it so that if the Apex ever see his face, they'll remember what happened in their last encounter. Moreover, there are others who are unable to say his name as proven with Augustine and Vaillant only going "____" when trying to explain him. After Easter reveals about Sycamore promising to clear White Gestalt's name, London decides to destroy it by exposing himself to Grace and Simon.
  • The Glasses Gotta Go: The beginning of Act 2 has him crush his sunglasses as he decides that it's time to stop clinging onto his Rabbit Tribe sins.
  • Good Wears White: Wears a white Elvis Presley-like suit and is a heroic figure, just like in Knight of the Orange Lily. In Act 2, he swaps it for his old wrestling attire back when he was in the WWE, also white.
  • Hates Being Alone: When he's first seen, he hates how he only has Easter for company on the Train and asks why he has to suffer it while White Gestalt are breaking down in pain of their memories.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In the Horrorland Car, he takes the Creep Cookie from Chiller, knowing that the jar of cookies is full of them. He eats it and ends up a drooling brainwashed reptilian monster.
  • Hero of Another Story: He's fought the Apex before and has his own adventures as the last member of White Gestalt.
  • Hypocrite: He told Gladion he had to wake up from his delusions of being a knight in shining armor. Gladion quickly brings up how London was chasing after "White Bunearies".
  • In-Series Nickname: Outside of "Mad Hatter", Asher has called him "Hatty", Ryoken derisively nicknames him "Hatter Ogre" and Sad-One names him "Mr. Sequins Crotch".
  • Irony: Despite London being the most cuckoo out there, having a gimmick of a stoner that combines Aztec mythos with Alice in Wonderland, he's actually the most level-headed out of the White Gestalt, pointing out that Gladion is delusional with his quests and calmly telling Specter that for as much as he likes how Specter has feelings for him, there's no way they can have anything past close friends. Albeit this is justified since he's not only the eldest member, but he's the only one who didn't get a memory wipe and had more time to confront his issues.
  • It Never Gets Any Easier: Despite his boast on wanting to kill Grace and Simon, he admits that he doesn't like to kill anyone and can't stand how he had to kill Lampetia to save her.
  • Karma Houdini: He's never gotten any punishment for any of his murders as he vanished onto the Train before the police could arrest him. That being said, he still feels remorse for his actions once he realized what he's done and hopes to make amends in White Gestalt.
  • Keeping Secrets Sucks: He hates the geass that Gladion (later revealed to be One-One) instilled on him as it makes him completely isolated.
  • The Lancer: As the total opposite of Gladion — being in his forties, snarky and has more experience in dealing with life-ending threats — he ends up as the second-in-command for the White Gestalt.
  • Last-Name Basis: He's usually called by his last name to keep with the "Gestalt" name and to not be confused with another Paul currently on the Train.
  • Last of His Kind: Initially last Passenger member of White Gestalt when the story starts as everyone else has left and Easter remains, but they're a Denizen. He's also the last (living) member of the Rabbit Tribe, something that he hates.
  • Literal Metaphor: London states to Asher at one point that he's haunted by the ghosts of his past as the narration reveals three ghostly figures — Mascarita Sacrada, Mala Suerte and Saltador — staring down at him.
  • Mentor in Queerness: A downplayed version as London has to specifically remind everyone that he's heterosexual, but he's the one saddled with telling Specter to confess his feelings for Ryoken instead of pining for London for many reasons (specifically in that Specter doesn't have a deep enough connection to London and that London is almost 40) and telling the Knight of Hanoi to accept that he's gay for his boss.
  • Mighty Glacier: Since he's nearing 40, he isn't as speedy as he was back in his prime, but he's still a wrestler and his limited telekinesis means something is gonna knock the wind out of you.
  • Mind over Matter: Can levitate things with a wave of his hand, an inherited ability from the previous White Rabbit.
  • Mirror Character:
    • Fittingly enough, he's a mirror to George Gore as they're both wrestlers with a connection with Specter. But George hates Specter, for good reason, while London doesn't seem to phased that Specter is essentially a cyber-terrorist, eventually becoming Specter's first friend. George is a duelist, London is just a pure wrestler. George didn't feel guilty when he let Earth be killed while London is heavily remorseful for destroying Lampetia.
    • He's a mirror for Ryoken Kougami: a white wearing man who has a closeness to Specter. The main difference is that London actually cares for Specter as a human being and is willing to sacrifice himself if it gives Specter a chance to leave, whereas Ryoken — despite stating he cares for Specter — decided to ultimately isolate Specter in his room and wouldn't humor him in regards to the incidents of the Infinity Train itself.
  • Mistaken for Gay: It's easy to read London and Specter being something other than friends but London has to immediately point out he's near 40 and is not gay in the slightest. (The real life London is straight and turned 40 in 2020, for those wondering.)
  • Morality Chain: Between him, Easter, and Lampetia, London has the biggest hold on Specter on not succumbing to evil or despair. It's his willingness to sacrifice his life to save Specter from Pyramid Head that is more than enough reason to get back on the Train, particularly because London states that Specter is his friend — something Specter has never had before. London is always the one pusing Specter to be better and willingly eats a Creep Cookie so Specter isn't tormented with being a brainwashed reptilian monster who will most likely get the stuffing beaten out of him.
  • My Greatest Failure: Having to shatter Lampetia is one for him (as she had been reduced into rubble by a rabbit and she requested it so that the other 400 Rabbits couldn't pry information from her) as he hated the idea of enacting assisted suicide and seeing how it traumatized Specter and caused them to be at each other's throats. He can't see another kore without thinking of what he did to her (especially since it's established that all korai are linked to one another, so every single one of them felt her death).
  • Mythical Motifs: Ryoken compares him to an ogre, due to him being a wrestler and wielding a club as his main weapon, not to mention that London isn't as "intelligent" as Ryoken is in technological feats. The recurring theme of ogres being child-eaters are played with, given that London is going after the Apex, a cult that mostly consists of children.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Not actually about him per se, but Ryoken's insults towards him are a reference to VRAINS character George Gore/Go Onizuka, a duelist who is also a wrestler. Ryoken calls him "Hatter Ogre", and Go's strongest monster in his Gouki deck was Gouki Strong Ogre. And as a Stealth Insult, Ryoken is bringing up how Go is the reason behind Earth's death.
    • The (first) formation of the tag team of London and Kendrick back in the WWE started when Kendrick rescued London from a monster (in this case, Brock Lesnar) beating the utter shit out of him. His friendship with Specter plays out the same way, when London is brutalized by Pyramid Head (to give Specter time to escape Silent Hill) with only Specter's interference saving the wrestler from being killed on the spot.
  • The Nicknamer: Enforced. He's initially unable to say the names of his fellow White Gestalt members because of the geass so he calls them "Mr. Lily" (Gladion), "The ghost" (Specter), and "Our White Rabbit" (Tokio).
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: He goes to town on Grace and Simon during the events of the Chocolate Car, showing them that they're just two dumb teens against a wrestler with at least twenty years of experience who was recently given telekinesis and has nothing to lose at this point.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • If Aerostar is right, he tells Rey that some film director tried to hire London to play the role of Elvis Presley as a kung-fu expert.note
    • When he explains how real ninjas wore blue in real life, he handwaves it with something called "Ninja Purists Car".
  • The Not-Love Interest: For how the two interact with one another, it's really easy to see Specter's devotion and feelings for London like he was a loved one. However, London repeatedly claims he does not see Specter in that way for many reasons — age gap (London is depicted as nearing 40, Specter is 16) being the biggest one. However, he is respectful enough to treat Specter as a close friend and confidant, with one of the reasons Specter is eager to get back on his trip is to renew his friendship with the wrestler and make amends for the many times they butted heads with one another. London himself is disgusted with how the Hanoi treated Specter's hysteria and claims that he cares for Specter because "friends care for one another".
  • Oblivious to Love: Subverted; London knows that Specter is a person who is "devoted" to him for being the first sign of friendship he's had since...ever and Easter even warns him to be careful when it comes to this "relationship".
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: He won an arm-wrestling match against Vaillant (who was in human form at the time) when the Windchasers were in the Noodle Car.
  • Psychic Strangle: Attempts this on Grace and Simon in the Chocolate Car with only Asher's intervention saving them.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Simon not keeping his big mouth shut in regards to how Nulls deserve to die and speaking ill of Lampetia — who is in heart form and in the hands of Tiffany of the Apex and Simon essentially asked why Tiffany hadn't killed her yet, a reminder that London killed her and saw Specter's despair at having him do to the deed — is enough for him to snap and strangle him and Grace to death.
  • Ramen Slurp: Does this with his encounter in the Windchasers in the Noodle Car.
  • Running Gag: Constantly having to tell others that he's not gay for Specter by pointing out the age gap between them.
  • Sad Clown: His smiles and jokes are mostly to convince himself he has some reason to live, as he feels like he's done way too much to have a chance at a better life.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Attempts to do this when Kisaragi makes him the White Rabbit but Easter stops him from running away.
  • Second Love: Downplayed; everyone in Den City (except Ryoken) can see that Specter is gay for him, but they also see that how Specter talks and reacts around London is this trope. London has to repeatedly claim that there is nothing of that sort between them and it's really just having a close bond than anything romantic.
  • Secretly Selfish: In the Elephant Teapot Car, Asher discusses that deep down London might be this, not really caring about the other White Gestalt members coming back unless it's just to give him company on his lonely sojourn across the Train. London has to admit that Asher is somewhat true.
  • Seen It All: London rarely gets surprised at the shit he sees on the Train. Then again, he's a wrestler, and the world of wrestling is full of insane chaotic stuff.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: By the time White Gestalt leaves the Monster City Car, he's ditched his White Rabbit attire and he's now wearing one his old WWE attires (specifically his white wrestling attire from his No Mercy and Armageddon 2006 pay-per-views).
  • Silly Rabbit, Idealism Is for Kids!: In the flashback that has London kill Lampetia, London talks down Gladion's desires to be a knight and take down the Apex.
London: Why don’t you wake up from those deluded fantasies and see that reality is not all roses, sugar, and sweetness as those knight-in-shining-armor stories you’re trying to emulate?!
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Out of the White Gestalt, and the heroes in general, he's the one who drops the most cuss words. Justified, given that it's presumably part of his job of being a wrestler to drop swears.
  • Stepford Smiler: He may be chill and smiling during Act 1, but it's all a mask to hide how he hates himself so much.
  • Sunglasses at Night: Wears his sunglasses all the time, even in a perpetually dark car like the 400 Rabbits Car. If he's not wearing them, then something is off. He finally removes them in Act 2.
  • Sympathetic Murderer: He has killed others before — Orange Lily reveals it was three directly (Mascarita Sacrada, The White Rabbit and El Bunny), two by offering them up to Matanza (Mala Suerta and Saltador) — but he reels over how his actions were for nothing and being requested to kill Lampetia, knowing how it would hurt Specter if he found out, is his greatest mistake.
  • Tall, Dark, and Snarky: Fits this in regards to the White Gestalt, being the only adult of the group who is billed at 5'10, has black hair that sticks out in the pale blond/white of the other Gestalt members, and is the snarkiest of the bunch.
  • Taking You with Me: Getting tired of the Apex leaders not understanding their actions, he's ready to kill them before being killed by the Train for his actions. If not for Asher, this would've been his fate.
  • Tarot Motifs: The reversed King of Wands, given his wooden club and being the eldest passenger of White Gestalt. He is a leader figure, being the new leader of the Rabbit Tribe, but downright refuses to take the leader role. Asher also assumed that the only reason he initially wanted the White Gestalt back was so he didn't have to be alone instead of actually being concerned about them fixing their mental problems.
  • Team Dad: He's this by default, being the eldest human of the group and the one with the most experience.
  • These Hands Have Killed: Once he got the epiphany that his work to get guidance from his White Rabbit was All for Nothing, he can only resign to the fact that he's nothing more than a murderer. It gets worse when he still has Lampetia's death in his mind.
  • Token Adult: Is the oldest passenger of the White Gestalt, about to reach his forties.Expalantion
  • Token Minority: He's one of three passengers of Hispanic descent (half-Mexican on his mother's side) with the other two being luchadors Rey Mysterio and Aerostar.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Zigzagged; while he does fight off both Grace and Simon in the Chocolate Car, he mostly focuses on Simon because he doesn't know when to shut up although he is willing to suffocate the two of them. Downplayed with Lampetia; he rather not have killed her if he had his way.

    Tokio Chisou

Tokio Chisou

"So what? SO WHAT?!"

Appears in: Seeker of Crocus (Mentioned, First apperance: The Chocolate Car) | The Firefly Funhouse Car (Mentioned)

A friend of Goh from the Johto region on the search for Celebi. He unintentionally caused Goh to think that friendship wasn't worth it and the guilt of this caused him to get on the Train.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: Was a kind and gentle boy in the anime, but in Crocus, he's quick to tell Aerostar that Grace can go fuck herself after everything she's done, even when the time traveler states that hell is coming for her.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: Since Tokio was written prior to his later appearances in Journeysnote  — where he's established as an All-Loving Hero who doesn't like fighting (aka Goh in early Journeys) — he has more of an edge and hates bullies or apathetic people who don't care to apologize for their actions.
  • All for Nothing: Tokio's attempt to travel to Vermillion City to see Goh again were pointless. He just got himself whisked onto the Train and broken for the sake of atonement, wasting two years of his life, and Goh ultimately found the letter in Celebi's shrine regardless.
  • Ambiguous Situation:
    • Was his inability to tell Goh that he was unable to meet up with him due to his sickness or that the idea never crossed his mind? Or did he try to communicate but Kurune and Ikuo blocked the messages and lied to Goh about it (given how they treated Chloe when she tried talking to Goh and also made the same assumption that Tokio was a lying asshole)?
    • In Horrorland Car, he has the Haunted Mask slapped onto him, a mask that slowly corrupts its wearer, and starts lashing out at Specter for a lot of his grievances. But given that Tokio's already shown a darker side to him, is the Mask really making him this way or is Tokio using it as an excuse to bite back at the Knight of Hanoi?
  • Animal Motif: Rabbits. His backstory with the Infinity Train revolves around him entering the 400 Rabbits Car, and he regains his memories when he sees Goh's Raboot. Rabbits were symbols of innocent sacrifice, representing Utahoshi's death shattering his innocence and how he would give up any sense of development to be the replacement White Rabbit. Fittingly, one of his White Gestalt partners is Paul London, who is part of the Rabbit Tribe.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: He wished for Celebi to whisk him away so he can fully explain to Goh why he couldn't make their meeting. Cue the Infinity Train, which casts a green glow ala the green Mythical PokĂ©mon, to take him away from his world for two years before he reunites with Goh to have a talk to about the truth.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Mention Grace Monroe to him at your own peril as he hates her for causing most of his traumas and not feeling the least bit sorry for it.
    • Apathy is another one, particularly if that apathetic person goes "So what?". This is, again, due to what Grace did to him back on the Train.
  • Became Their Own Antithesis: Before he got on the Train, Tokio was a nice kid who was very empathetic and wouldn't stand for people bullying others. Once he encountered the Apex and got a second try at it, he's effectively lost most of his kindess and good nature and replaced it with hatred and vitriol, even going so far as to state point blank that he wouldn't care if somebody died solely on the basis that they hurt him first.
  • Big "WHY?!": Screamed this in the flashback that detailed London killing Lampetia, questioning why London would kill her.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: While seemingly looking like a nice and kind-hearted boy, he really shows off an apathetic side to him when it comes to the Apex. This becomes more noticeable in the Horrorland Car after he has an evil mask slapped on his face, forcing him to reveal how he really thinks about most of the Gestalt, calling Gladion a "stupid chuni" and getting into Specter's face that he despises the Knight of Hanoi for a lot of his angst issues and that he'll have a chance to forget about everything (not knowing that Specter's caretakers and the man he loved decided that the best way to take care of his issues was shove him into his bedroom).
  • Briar Patching: When Ai approaches him in the Soda Beach Car, Tokio pleads for the Ignis to not take his cards from his deck holder, oh please don't do it! Ai draws five cards...to which Tokio smirks and says "Boom" and they explode in his face.
  • Claimed by the Supernatural: The tattoo on his back (a combination of a zinnia flower, map fragment and compass) is a reminder of the struggles he went through on the Infinity Train.
  • Commonality Connection:
    • Aside from hunting for a legendary PokĂ©mon, Tokio and Goh share the same mental attitude over one thing: they're so absorbed with their angsts and pains from something that should be relatively minor that it's near impossible for them to snap out of it even with outside intervention. Tokio felt so guilty for things that weren't of his fault that he keeps replaying it over in his head, even going as far as to asking Celebi to let him travel back in time or even become a puppet ruler if it will make things right. Meanwhile, Goh is so absorbed with "that white haired jerk who betrayed me" that he pushes away the only friend he has left, even telling Chloe to shut up and never bring up Ilex Forest ever again, and becomes obsessed with his hunt for Mew and PokĂ©mon to even look her in the eye.
    • He shares one thing with Chloe: envy towards someone else who they see as having so many "privileges". Chloe despised Goh because he gets a job with her father and an excuse to never go to school outside his "promise" for tests, meaning that he can be blissfully ignorant over the bullying she goes through while he leaves her behind over how he "doesn't need" the homework assignments she gets for him. Tokio is said to hate Specter because Specter lives in a mansion and can live happily ever after with his prince and servants while forgetting everything on the Train ever existed.
  • Complexity Addiction: Tokio's attempts to explain to Goh what happened is to 1) leave a letter explaining everything in Celebi's shrine and 2) wish for Celebi to make him go back in time to explain everything. It never occured to him to have 1) asked his parents to tell Goh's parents or 2) search up Goh online for his address to send the letter itself.
  • Death Dealer: The weapons that London gifts him on the return trip are a deck of throwing cards that also double as explosives. It's also a bit of an Alice Allusion since this is coming from a car filled with rabbits.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: Tokio was a Small Role, Big Impact character in Journeys prior to his return at Episode 102. It's because of his inability to meet with Goh that Goh ended up refusing human friendship and hunting for Mew. The deconstruction is from his "small role" as he doesn't have a character outside of his failures with Goh and he's stuck in a Guilt Complex that he can't get out of because of his mistakes. Worse, Goh barely even thinks about him, as he's more worried on how he failed to be a better friend with Chloe.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Why oh why does this boy have to suffer so much? Because he just wanted to see Goh again and apologize?! Just let him have his wish, Train! Downplayed in that the Train was trying to help Tokio with his problems; he's just too stubborn to understand that he has to let his guilt go.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: He hates people pitying him because no one would understand any of the pain he's gone through nor does it make the pain go away. Unfortunately, this also means that it's hard for him to accept sympathy from those who truly want to help him.
Tokio: I don’t want your [Victor] pity! Everyone pities me! They keep saying, "Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that" or "Oh, that’s horrible", and "I can’t believe that happened to you"...but pity doesn’t fix things! It doesn’t change the fact that all I wanted was to see Goh and the Train WOULDN’T! FULFILL! MY! WISH!
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: He is angry that the Train wouldn't allow him to to tell Goh what happened that day in the rain...except that's not the point of the Train. He's supposed to let go of what was honestly a simple mistake and learn to live his own life, and hope that he can see Goh again to tell him the truth.
  • Dub Name Change: Averted; he keeps his Japanese name instead of his dub name — Horace — due to the original Blossoming Trail being uploaded before his dub name was revealed.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He refused to go back on the Train and has no sympathy towards Kisaragi. But upon hearing how a Nurse Joy implying that the bunny is getting punishment, he decides to get back on the Train.
  • Fatal Flaw:
    • Excuses. His phone call with Victor has him state excuse after excuse as to why he didn't do things differently (The biggest being "Why did you not ask your parents to call Goh's parents?" and "Why wait until now to talk to Goh if you've been off the Train for a while?") and tries to weasel it out with explanations. He eventually realizes that he can't do it any more, else worse people will do even horrible things and he can't stop it.
    • His refusal to forgive himself. No matter how many times people tell him that what happened with Goh and Utahoshi were tragic but not his fault, he can't wrap it around his head that he needs to move on and live his life.
  • Felony Misdemeanor: If you believe Goh, you'll hear that Goh hates Tokio because he betrayed his trust. What actually happened was Tokio had fallen ill and couldn't make it out in the rain.
  • Flower Motif: The Zinnia flower. His tattoo is a map, compass and a zinnia flower and his last name is based off of the Japanese term for the zinnia (hyakuchisou). Zinnias represent reminiscing of long-lost friends, which carries onto his regrets of failing to keep a promise with Goh in the past.
  • Foil: To Specter; both are white haired members of White Gestalt — Specter is 16, Tokio is 10 — who have different views of returning to the Train. Specter is willing to go back on the Train if it gives him a chance to find Lampetia and to restart his friendships with Easter and London. Tokio immediately skirts around the idea of it until a Nurse Joy warns him that Kisaragi will be punished for his crimes and he decides to go back because he can't make any more excuses for himself. Specter's new weapon is a staff for its simplicity and range, while Tokio gets a deck of throwing cards (which explode) that makes him able to attack at a distance. They both were tortured as part of their backstories, but while Specter actually enjoyed his Electric Torture, Tokio is traumatized from being tattooed against his will and seeing a kind rabbit die for his sake. And finally, they have different reactions to those who hurt them. Specter vows to save Ai even though Ai will never forgive the Hanoi, while Tokio doesn't give a Fletchling if Grace ends up dead because what she did is personal. In regards to partners, Tokio makes due with PokĂ©mon, whereas Specter has two denizens and London keeping him sane.
  • Forgotten Fallen Friend: Downplayed Trope, as Tokio isn't dead. However, by the time the present day comes and Tokio returns to the train alongside the rest of White Gestalt, he's effectively been erased from Goh's mind, with the boy having come to develop a brand new obssession over Chloe instead, with Tokio barely crossing his mind once or twice afterwards. Moreover, because Goh never thought to talk about Tokio to Chloe, he never gets any sense of moving forward with his life, meaning that most of Goh's problems with friendship could've been solved much sooner. To highlight just how much Goh stopped caring for him, Goh searched for Chloe for three days straight when she disappeared. For Tokio? Goh did nothing but try to push the boy out of his mind.
  • Goal in Life: His original goal was to meet Celebi. Unlike with Goh, this didn't earn him the ire of Chloe alongside and entire city, although it's not known if others began to resent him like with Goh and his goal with Mew.
  • Guilt Complex: Blames himself for practically everything that happened with White Gestalt, Utahoshi and himself because he couldn't fulfill a promise with Goh. Getting out of it is part of his character growth.
  • Harmful to Minors: Was tattooed against his will in the Calligraphy Carnote , attacked by the Apex, tried to escape them only to be traumatized when Grace stabbed a kind rabbit denizen without a sliver of remorse then attacked by the Apex again, was brainwashed to act as a leader for almost two years by the kind rabbit's embittered friend, has to deal with multiple fallouts because of this decision (the biggest one being Lampetia's death by London's hand and Specter's mental anguish coming from that) and then we add the aftermath of Gladion's use of the Tape Car to the mix where he gets attacked by the Apex again...yeah, Tokio had it rough.
  • Hidden Depths: The therapy technique he uses on Specter when he has a panic attack — Deep Pressure Therapy — is something he learned from his therapy sessions, implying he's been in these situations before.
  • His Own Worst Enemy: Tokio's major problem with his growth is his inability to forgive himself. He blames himself if something goes wrong (to be fair, he's not wrong to believe that he's at fault given what happened with Goh), but instead of learning to forgive himself about it and move forward, he blames the Train for not taking him to Goh instead of trapping him in a Death World where he ended up tattooed, saw an innocent rabbit die saving him and then brainwashed for two years to appease his guilt. No matter how many people sympathize him, he spits their pity and apologies back at their faces. It takes Specter asking if Goh is acting like Tokio for the Cianwood boy to confront his mistakes and even then he internally notes how Chloe is more behaved than tokio.
  • Hypocrite: For all that Tokio is a victim, he's also unaware that he's no better than the people he hates.
    • He despised Bede for being callous to a little girl when she was down. Tokio himself acts very similar to Bede when it comes to Grace.
    • He despises Amelia for her flimsy excuse as to why she caused chaos when he got on the Train. Thing is, Tokio also shares many similarities with Amelia — namely, they want to go back to a past where the tragedies that befell them never happened.
    • Boasts that he has been taking therapy yet at no point does he show actual signs of moving on from his issues.
    • He tells Ai during the events of the Palimpsest Car that his bitterness is no excuse to hate Specter. Guess what he does during Horrorland Car?
  • Informed Attribute: He and Goh were apparently very close, to the point that Tokio not being able to accomplish a promise caused Goh to swear off becoming friends with humans forever. You wouldn't be able to tell given how Tokio is almost never mentioned by either Goh or anybody else, and the few flashbacks about them being centered around how Goh was hurt over his inability to keep a promise, making it hazy if they were ever friends at all.
  • Irony:
    • Despite Tokio being the basis of Goh's angst, Goh actually spends more time worried on Chloe. As of Act 2, Goh's only had two talks with the boy.
    • Tokio hates Amelia for all she did, particularly wanting nothing but her past with Alrick and pretend he never died and ignoring the mess she made. But Tokio originally wanted to go back in time to undo his "mistake" with Goh, essentially trying to make sure that incident never happened as well and isn't focusing on the problems he is making.
  • It's Personal: He wants nothing to do with the Train even after hearing how Gladion and Specter are preparing. It isn't until the Nurse Joy who comforted him reveals that her associates are going to inflict punishment on Kisaragi that he decides that he's going back on the Train himself.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Downplayed in that he's not a jerk as he is a whiny, guilt-tripping, mopey boy, but he's not wrong to point out that his absence and inability to arrive to see Goh is the cause of so many problems relating to him, Goh, and Chloe. Goh and his parents never tell Chloe about Tokio, so she doesn't know just why Goh was so angsty around her and whined over a gift she made isn't perfect. The parents isolate Goh from making other friends for fear of having him hurt. Goh hangs out with Ash more because the boy is essentially the second coming of Tokio who won't betray him. And Chloe ends up losing herself because she doesn't have anyone to help her. All of this because one boy got sick, and the other never decided to talk about his problems until outside circmstances forced him to.
  • Jerkass Realization: Horrorland Car has him finally realize he's been dragging on this whole "I'm horrible for making Goh think I betray him" schtick that prevents him from moving forward for far too long when Specter asks him if Goh is whining and complaining about his past. This also helps him remove the haunted mask stuck to his face.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: His friendship with Goh and how it led the latter to see friendship as not worth it, along with how he's a former passenger on the Train. And for those who have not read Knight of the Orange Lily it heavily brings up how he was the White Rabbit of that car before Kisaragi and the circumstances that got him to be that way.
  • Mad Bomber: After obtaining the exploding cards, Tokio becomes mad as a hatter with them and wants nothing more but to see giant explosions.
Tokio: (in regards to letting Specter land the killing blow) Show him [The Arrival @Ignister] that he’s wrong! (with a big grin) Do it before I blow him up myself.
  • Madness Mantra: After seeing Goh's Raboot, he keeps muttering how he is "the White Rabbit" over and over again.
  • Mirror Character:
    • To Mallow, as they both entered the Infinity Trian after a huge regret in their lives and didn't say anything about their problems that could've saved them a lot of grief on their ends (Mallow never fully warned anyone about the Train picking Gladion up — although a flashback reveals she tried telling about her Train Trip to her brother — and Tokio never considered telling his parents about his concerns about Goh).
    • To Chloe, as they are both good friends to Goh but Goh has strained relationships with them (Tokio was due to Tokio accidentally breaking their promise and Chloe because he is keeps focusing on Mew and Chloe is unable to talk about her struggles but Goh took Tokio breaking a promise much harder than Chloe). While Chloe was bulied and then kept trapped in the Cerise Institute without any way to find escape, and parents who did love her but didn't really do the right thing to help, Tokio had parents who gave him therapy and let him travel on his journey to find Celebi. When they finally get confronted about their problems with communicating with Goh, Chloe immediately apologizes and admits that she was in the wrong while Tokio has to stumble about with excuses on why he didn't talk to Goh sooner. Chloe's main weapon is her donut holer that lets her attack up close while Tokio's initial weapon was a boomerang which makes him strike at a distance. Their feelings towards Amelia are completely different: Tokio hates her because it's her actions that caused his tragedy while Chloe accepts her because she's realized that Amelia wants to make amends. And while they both hate the Apex, Tokio actually has encountered them and hates them with an utmost passion, while Chloe has heard of them and just seems them as something to take down. Speaking of which, Tokio proclaims that Grace should crawl in a hole and die while Chloe does her best to convince her to stop what the Apex leader is doing before she ends up in misery. Goh also reacted to them disappearing differently — he refused to find the truth about Tokio despite having three years to move on, but the second he finds Chloe missing, he sits down and tries to look for her for three days.
    • For as much as he hates her, Tokio is a mirror to Amelia. They both got on the Train after losing someone they loved, but Alrich is dead, whereas Goh is alive. While Amelia had a choice to improve herself and knew what numbers meant, Tokio didn't have knowledge of the numbers and chose to stay as guilt over indirectly causing Utahoshi's death. Amelia spends 30 years with a number so big, she'd probably die before it goes down, whereas Tokio spent only two years before he got booted out and then returning. Amelia is willing to make a few amends thanks to Chloe standing up to her, Tokio is still stuck in guilt. And last, their thoughts on the Apex are vastly different. While Amelia could care less about the cult, she has enough morality that they don't deserve death in the Fog Car, while Tokio could care less about what the Apex did (especially if it's Grace).
    • Tokio is one to The Cat. A white associated character who ends up indirectly causing heartache and trust issues to a boy they know (Simon for The Cat, Goh for Tokio). The Cat never admits that she is at fault and tries to downplay it — "I didn't abandon you, Simon. I ran. — whereas Tokio was so guilty for this "betrayal" that he wanted to rewind time to properly send his farewells and wrote a letter for Goh to find. The Cat ends up doing more harm than good when finally confronted, while Tokio is the turning point for Goh to move on as a person.
  • Mistakes Are Not the End of the World: Inverted; the world didn't end just because Tokio didn't meet with Goh in time, but it was the end of his world since this guilt got him on the Infinity Train and everything that came after that. Unfortunately, he doesn't accept the fact that this was a mistake and he should move on from it until Specter gives him that well-needed reality check.
  • My Greatest Failure: Not being able to keep his promise with Goh — because he fell ill — and believing it's his fault for Utahoshi's death by Grace. Unfortunately, instead of learning to realize that none of this is his fault, he gets aggravated over how his guilt is turning into spite over people trying to pity him.
  • Never My Fault: Subverted; while most of Tokio's traumas are either the Train or the Apex's fault, his attitude problems over how he felt about it are his own. He can't let go of his anger or the fact that his solution to talk to Goh was as simple as telling his parents about it. Specter has to tell it to him straight that he's the one keeping himself from moving forward.
Specter: Everything that’s going on is because of you and your failure to move on from your mistake with Goh. Yes, what Grace did was wrong, but everything after is your choice and your choice alone.
  • No Sympathy: When Aerostar mentions the possibility of Grace and the Apex being in trouble, he doesn't give a damn about the cult because none of them gave a damn about what they did to him all those years ago.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: Played for Drama. Tokio unable to see Goh once (because he was ill) was engraved in Goh's soul and made him subconsciously push others away for fear of being betrayed. However, this is from the mindset of an overly dramatic boy who refused to move on from this mistake and left Tokio with a humongous guilt complex in believing that everything that happened to him was his fault. And this isn't counting how this fractured Goh's friendship with Chloe either. It takes Goh reading his letter to realize what a douchebag he was and how his tunnel vision has led to burning the bridge he had with Chloe.
  • Poor Communication Kills: All of Tokio's problems with Goh stem from him never telling his parents to send a message, so they could call Goh's parents and deciding to leave a note in Celebi's shrine a year later (with little chance of Goh even finding it) and wishing for Celebi to travel back in time to apologize. Even after leaving the Train, he never thinks of either calling or messaging Goh online and makes up excuses as to why it would be worthless to do so, something that Victor bluntly points out.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Hearing a teenager — later revealed to be Bede — going "So what?" about their apathy on defeating a little girl in a battle has him snap and pummel the former with his fists as it heavily reminds him of Grace's lack of empathy about killing Utahoshi despite having forgotten about his initial Trip at the time.
  • Refusal of the Call: He keeps making excuses as to why he won't take the second chance to get back on the Train when Gladion and Specter are ready for a second roun. It's only when the Nurse Joy who saw his Freak Out informs him that her "friends" are going to punish Kisaragi does he decides to get back.
  • Satellite Character: His characterization can basically be summed as "a boy so similar to Goh who accidentally abandoned Goh in the rain and has a humongous Guilt Complex", to the point that what drew him on the Train was his failure to keep a promise with him in time. Unfortunately, this prevents him from moving froward because he can't stop thinking about his unfulfilled promise with Goh.
  • The Scapegoat: The Fujihachis, except Tomie, blame Tokio for what happened. Tokio is the reason Goh nearly got sick in the rain. Tokio is the reason why Goh doesn't like to make human friends and would rather search for Mew. Tokio is the reason why Goh nearly died from drowning in a camping trip. However, Tokio has no idea about any of this because he was stuck on the Infinity Train and it never crossed the minds of the Fujihachis to search him up online for answers.
  • Self-Inflicted Hell: Just like Chloe, Tokio is incapable of letting go and having people give him sympathy for his troubles. He keeps going into a bigger circle of "If only I wasn't sick and made Goh think I betrayed him" or "If I didn't lead the Apex to Utahoshi" instead of forgiving himself while lashing out at others who have tried to comfort him.
  • Slasher Smile: Amusingly has one of these when Ai draws cards from his deck, as the Ignis had no idea that they're also bombs.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Mentioned in Firefly Funhouse Car Chapter 3 by way of Goh having his letter, but he's the reason for Chloe and Goh's friendship being strained as it is at the time.
  • Stopped Caring: Encountering the Apex and their apathy caused his heart to harden until it turned into stone, making him so antipathetic he'll even claim he could care less if somebody died as long as he believes the person deserves it.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: He has a deck of cards that can act like bombs.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Act 2 has him show him being abrasive towards others. He wishes Grace the worst punishment ever, and after the Haunted Mask is on his face, he chews out Specter getting what is essentially a happy ending...making him no better than Ai, whom he chewed out two cars prior.
  • Trigger Phrase: An example where the conditioning is more like PTSD rather than hypnosis, but apathetically saying "So what?" while he's around is the best way to cause him to blow up in rage, due to being a reminder of Grace Monroe saying it when she was reminded of how she cruelly killed Utahoshi.
Tokio: (when Bede says it after he crushes a little girl in a Pokémon fight without pity) So what...SO WHAT?!
  • Un-person: Everything that comes about Tokio and Goh's friendship is strictly relegated to flashbacks. As far as the present day is concerned, Tokio never existed for Goh. Unfortunately the fact that neither Goh nor his parents ever talked about Tokio means that Chloe, Goh's Only Friend, has no idea what made her friend act so coldly towards her, and it indirectly gets her onto the Infinity Train.
  • Unknown Rival: Tokio is the reason that Goh is such an angsty, broody boy who is unable to appreciate the only friend he has left and focuses on more on PokĂ©mon more than life itself. However, Chloe and Tokio don't know about each other initially because one was sick and later drawn on the Train for two years and Goh never brought him up to Chloe (specifically telling her to shut up and never talk about Ilex Forest) until she got on the Train three years later. When Chloe learns about what happened with Tokio that caused Goh's sullenness, she doesn't hate him at all, and sympathizes with how Goh felt in being abandoned in the rain all those years ago, just as she lived a lonely life since then. Meanwhile, there's no telling what Tokio feels about Chloe being Goh's friend, as he's still stuck in his guilt.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: It wasn't his fault per se, but because he didn't arrive on time to see Goh to continue their hunt for Celebi, he made it seem to Goh that he was a liar and made the boy a shut-in, refusing to make friends and obsess with PokĂ©mon, which became part of the reason why Goh and Chloe's friendship started to fray. Speaking of which, this incident made Goh's parents more paranoid to keep their son in his room to prevent him from getting in danger, which led to Goh and Chloe's friendship to splinter and to the point that Chloe was close to killing herself.
  • You Are What You Hate:
    • Despises Amelia the most out of the White Gestalt because her actions of "wanting to be with her Alrick no matter the consequences" so she could be stuck in the past instead of moving forward is what caused his agony. Tokio himself keeps fixated on his past with how he couldn't properly explain to Goh that he was sick.
    • Snapped at Bede when he showed no sympathy towards a girl who lost to him. Again, Tokio acts just like Bede when it comes to hating Amelia and Grace for their actions, showing absolutely no sympathy to the two.

  • Heroic Dog: All except Sivally are based off of canines and use their powers for good.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: Gladion has a Zoroark, specifically it's his father's, in his party which he gets near the end of the Sun and Moon season.
  • Master of Illusion: Zoroark's specialty is transforming into different humans or PokĂ©mon and transforms into London when fighting Dark Templer @Ignister.
  • Troll: When White Gestalt arrive at the Soda Beach Car, Zoroark shapeshifts into Specter before racing across the sand and hurling Gladion into the water.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Silvally is an okay fighter, but their niche comes from the RKS system. Just throw a drive in its fins, and they can use up to 17 types to knock an opponent down. Combine that with Gladio's kursarigama capable of absorbing the attacks, and Gladion has a partner that can help him in almost any situation.

    Tokio's PokĂ©mon

Tokio's Pokémon

Tokio's three member team (Chikorita, Furrett, and Hoothoot).
  • Canon Foreigner: Tokio only has a Chikorita in the anime, but in the fanfic he also has a Furret and Hoothoot.note
  • Green Thumb: Chikorita is a Grass-type who knows Vine Whip and Razor Leaf.
  • Making a Splash: Furrett knows Surf which comes in handy against Fire Phoenix @Ignister.
  • Non-Elemental: Furrett and Hoot-Hoot are both Normal-types.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: Hoothoot knows Moonblast.
  • Super-Scream: One of Furret's moves is Hyper Voice.
  • Token Flyer: Hoothoot, by virtue of being Tokio's only Flying-type.

    The Rabbit Tribe

Mascarita Sacrada, Mala Suerte, Saltador

The former members of the Rabbit Tribe whom were sacrificed for London's wishes for guidance under the White Rabbit.

  • Adaptation Personality Change: Both Mala Suerte and Saltador are morose around London, due to the fact that it's his fault that they're dead.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • It was unknown in Lucha Underground whether or not Mascarita was considered Rabbit Tribe (outside how he knew the White Rabbit and delivered the Rabbit Tribe to him). The story reveals that he is bonafide Rabbit Tribe.
    • Mala Suerte and Saltador were good friends with London throughout their Rabbit Tribe shenanigans. Due to London offering them up, they come to resent him.
  • Big, Thin, Short Trio: Mala Suerte is Big, Saltador is Thin and Mascarita is the Short.
  • The Faceless: Saltador appears to be this way cause he's wearing a full-body chessboard outfit.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: For Season 4 of Lucha Underground as it reveals that all of them are dead (Mascarita Sacrada by London per orders of the White Rabbit and Mala Suerte and Saltador were offered up to Mantanza due to London's delusions that this is what the White Rabbit wanted)
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: They're spirits trapped within London's staff but they are capable of interacting with other people if London asks of them.

    Harmonic Storm (Spoilers)

Harmonic Storm

"Neither human nor lightning bolt, we are the storm!"

Appears in: Seeker of Crocus (Debut, First appearance: Routine Arc - The Night Garden Car)

After reuniting with Easter in the Monster City Car, Specter is capable of fusing with them to access a new form.

  • Achievements in Ignorance: Neither Specter nor Easter even knew they could actually fuse into this form, with Easter horrified when a bolt of lightning strikes their partner's heart before they meld as one.
  • All Your Powers Combined: They have the powers of Easter and Specter combined... which is less impressive when you consider how Specter has no powers for the fusion to inherit, leaving them with Easter's powerset. That being said, they do retain Specter's uncanny ability to read people's motives and use his staff as their main weapon.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Horrorland Car begins to question whether or not the fusion is sentient in some way. Specter states that they are, but Gladion and Tokio only see Specter motioning to thin air. Specter also is able to hear a voice in his head as well, not to mention use electricity without being in close proximity to Easter.
  • Badass on Paper: A being that's the resulting fusion of Specter and Easter sounds like a powerful person in theory. And while they're strong, it's all because of the Easter side, as Specter doesn't have any powers for the fusion to inherit (unless you count his analytical skills as a power). Even then, they also inheritted Easter's weaknesses, making them essentially just a stronger Easter.
  • By the Power of Grayskull!: Discussed by Easter, who assumes that there should be one of these to invoke their new fusion. They settle with "Iungo" (the Latin word for unite).
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Their outfit is a combination of grey and black to evoke a thundercloud, but their base components are part of the heroic White Gestalt.
  • Doppelmerger: They're a fusion of both Specter and the lightning bolt that is essentially a copy of Specter himself.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: Is the most powerful member of White Gestalt, and presumably on the same level as Chloe and Asher. This also means they need to be capped before all of White Gestalt's trials get bulldozed over.
    • When Specter and Easter fight Hakurou in Act 2, Gladion notes that Specter is refusing to fuse again to overpower the older oni. Easter assumes that whatever happened with Augustine is causing Specter to close himself off, although the reason was to prevent the two from going at it again and tearing up anything White Gestalt can create.
    • In the fight against Ai and his @Ignister monsters in the Soda Beach Car, they can't fire lightning attacks because multiple people are fleeing for their lives, many of them currently in the water, not to mention that five of the monsters can fly and easily avoid the attacks. So instead, they create a spider-web dome so that the monsters can't escape. Moreover, while they do fight later on, it's only for one of the @Ignister monsters and they defuse just as Ai summons The Arrival Cyberse @Ignister.
  • Expy: With confirmation from the co-author that they were inspired by Gem Fusions from Steven Universe — particularly the episodes "Alone Together" and "The Answer" — they are derived from Stevonnie as an experience of two people learning to have high levels of trust and being a fusion of a human and non-human respectively, reflecting how Specter and Easter are willing to trust one another.
  • Fleur-de-lis: They have fleur-de-lis cufflinks. The fleur-de-lis is based on the iris, which is a symbol of hope.
  • Fusion Dance: Essentially a fusion of Specter and his lightning bolt partner. The co-author admits she was watching a lot of Steven Universe clips while brainstorming ideas. In fact, the way they fuse resembles a dance with Specter spinning around and practically tossing Easter into the air.
  • Last-Name Basis: They're usually called by their last name, Storm.
  • Meaningful Name: Rimuru explains the name he gives them came from the components becoming in harmony with one another, and thus creates a storm of power and potential.
  • Odd Name Out: Not only does it not sound anything remotely like a name but they break the theme naming of the original White Gestalt with each member having the first letter of their name match with the word "Gestalt".
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: They fight off UnCerise in a Barrier-made arena that involves a lot of trash-talk and breaking of fingers. When we cut back to them some time later, their opponent has a broken nose and a black eye, and they're utterly exhausted and their suit torn apart. They just mutter "Worth it".
  • Power Makes Your Hair Grow: Downplayed, but Harmonic Storm is now given shoulder-length hair.
  • The Power Of Potential: Rimuru states the fusion represents the potential of both denizen and passenger partner coming to terms with one another and evolving, particularly because it's never stated that lightning bolts can fuse with a passenger to create a new being.
  • The Power of Trust: They represent the trust that both Specter and Easter share with one another once they have forgiven each other for their mistakes, hence the Harmonic part of their name.
  • Royal "We": Addresses themselves with "We" despite not being royalty in the slightest to highlight both Specter and Easter becoming one.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Wears a black suit jacket and grey pants and can kick ass with greatest of ease.
  • Third-Person Person: Speaks in this way, which Gladion lampshades.
Gladion: (as Storm says that both Specter and Easter are fine) Specter, you’re addressing yourself in third-person, I think we should be concerned about this!
  • Too Powerful to Live: They're a fusion powerful enough to stand on equal ground with an Unown fusion, with nobody else on the White Gestalt having anything that comes close to them. So of course, after the events of Act 1, Specter is left too troubled to try fusing again or if they are fused, they act either as support or defuse before they're needed for a bigger fish to fry.
  • Tron Lines: Harmonic Storm has pale blue lines over their arms.
  • Walking Spoiler: Mentioning anything about them means you have to explain that Specter is going back on the Infinity Train and somehow can fuse with his denizen partner.

    Lampetia

Lampetia

My sister was...the partner of Specter. Bright, cheerful...loud.
Larkspur

"Made it~! Whoo, it's good to be back!"

Appears in: Seeker of Crocus (Debut, First physical appearance: The Palimpsest Car)

A kore who was Specter's initial partner across the Train before he encountered Gladion. Unfortunately, she's not in good hands when the story begins. She reunites with White Gestalt at the beginning of Act 2.

  • Action Girl: Just give her something to stab with her spear and she's ready.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Has little to no past in the original Blossomverse. Crocus reveals that she was on her journey because she got visions of a strange on a monochrome beach that none of her sisters saw before, and she decided to uncover its meaning, bumping into Specter along the way.
  • Adaptational Badass: In Knight of the Orange Lily, she only gets shown in two fights that involved either throwing her spear or stabbing someone with it but couldn't do more after that. This Lampetia can summon pillars of light and gets a special form that lets her control the shadows of the White Gestalt.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: The Beauty to Chloe's Brawn and Amelia's Brains. She is a pure white marble statue with a shining heart whose main role before White Gestalt happened was to be the emotional crutch for Specter. Her outfit emphasizes this too: while Chloe and Amelia have cut their hair, hers grows longer. And while the former two wear pants and leggings, she goes out in a tunic.
  • Better to Die than Be Killed: London stated that she requested that he kill her because she was in a crumbled state and wouldn't survive much longer.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Saves Specter from being crushed to death by Ai's Earth Golem @Ignister by shattering its heart with her spear.
  • Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: Played the gently bubbly girl to Specter's brooding boy when they were together.
  • A Day in the Limelight: White Gestalt's plot in the Palimpsest Car is focused around her revival, gaining a new power-up, and why she keeps seeing visions of a stranger who looks like Augustine.
  • Determinator: Her backstory reveals that she's going to find that black beach and white lighthouse in her vision and nothing will stop her. And despite having been shattered twice and half of her face gone thanks to Ai, she won't step down. And she definitely will not surrender!
  • Dreadful Musician: Downplayed; a flashback says she's not musically gifted but can hum a tune.
  • Everyone's Baby Sister: Downplayed since she's technically older than White Gestalt combined — and physically she looks like a woman in her twenties — but she's treated this way due to being mostly innocent and her death heavily impacting White Gestalt in their early days. London regrest murdering her, Specter detests anyone who speaks ill of her, Tokio blamed himself for London having to Mercy Kill her and Gladion lost his innocence when he saw her remains. So when Ai starts joking about how she lost an eye, the rest of the White Gestalt get furious.
  • Eye Scream: She loses an eye during the fight against Ai's @Ignister monsters when London is momentarily knocked aside — while trying to stop Gussari @Ignistar from stabbing her — and ultimately ends with shaving half of her face clean off (she gets it back along with a new form).
  • Facial Horror: Gussari @Ignister shaved half of her face off. Thankfully it comes back on.
  • Females Are More Innocent: Compared to every other person London has killed in the past — all male with only one of them innocent — she committed no sin and was largely seen as a kind, courageous soul who helped Specter throughout his initial Train Trip. This pained London more than anything else because he initially refuses to kill her even if it would help start her regeneration process.
  • Flower Motifs: Her upgraded form has her associated with bellflowers which mean affection, everlasting love and a sign of gratitude. This represents her platonic bond with Specter, as she's his personal reason to get on the Train and the gratitude he has for being by his side during his initial trip.
  • Friend to All Children: A flashback in Act 2 has her entertaining many toy denizens recovering in a hospital.
  • Genki Girl: Larkspur's words about her is all you need to know about her personality and when she finally recovers, she's shouting how happy she is to be in a body again.
  • The Ghost: She's never seen onscreen throught Act 1 and if she is, aside from a flashback, it's only her heart.
  • The Heart: Her role in the White Gestalt is the one who keeps them together. It says something that all of the Gestalt wants Ai to go to hell after one of his monsters shaves half of her face off.
  • Impossible Task: The quest that she's going on is to find a car that has a black sand beach and a lighthouse...on a train filled with infinite cars. And it's a car that none of her sisters has information on, something which should ring alarm bells. Ai even spits at how it's impossible to find it since it's only the image found in a children's book...but to her it means it's real somewhere, and she will find it come hell or high water. It's implied that it does exist, somehow, when Lampetia is later able to hear people talking in these visions.
  • Karmic Jackpot: Lampetia never had to be the denizen partner for Specter and she could've left him to continue on her own quest. However, her gentleness and patience with him is one of the key reasons Specter actually started to change as a person, which becomes a key factor in his second go-around, particularly willing to apologize for how he treated Easter thus letting them access a fused form and he does his best to return the favor by wanting to save her.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: Lampetia's mostly well known for two things in Knight of the Orange Lily: her closeness to Specter and the fact that she's been killed multiple times, leading to a lot of Specter's angst and trauma.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Her personal quote is the first thing she says in Act 2, once she fully is back in her body.
  • Light 'em Up: Fitting her name, she can cast beams of light to attack an enemy.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: She's been gone for so long that she's shocked to see Specter and Easter's fusion when they reunite in Act 2.
  • Long Hair Is Feminine: In contrast to Chloe and Amelia cutting off their hair, Lampetia's shoulder-length grows to reflect her feminine side.
  • The Lost Lenore: In a platonic sense; her deaths and shattering emotionally affected Specter's wellbeing in his first trip and his main motivation is to find her again.
  • Masculine, Feminine, Androgyne Trio: The Feminine to Specter's Masculine and Easter's Androgyne.
  • Meaningful Name: Lampetia is Greek for "shining" to reflect her cheerful personality and ability to cast light. It's also the name of a nymph who acted as a shepherd in The Odyssey who wielded a silver crook which she obtains in replacement of her spear.
  • Mercy Kill: Lampetia's body was close to breaking at the point London was asked to kill her. London complied to ease her suffering and so her heart can start regenerating.
  • Morality Pet: Not like Specter would (initially) admit, but Lampetia is this to him, being his only company before the two encountered Gladion in the 400 Rabbits Car. Compared to Easter and London really getting on his nerves (one he would kick out of a window, the other he was frustrated beyond belief since he killed Lampetia), Lampetia has him usually more polite or hesitant when it comes to her suggestions. And in contrast to when they reunite, Specter full on tackles her before sobbing over how they're finally reunited.
  • Mystical Waif: She becomes one of these in Act 2, who keeps getting visions of two former passengers on the Train. The weird part is that she, as a kore who is part of a connected mind where all korai are able to share information with one another, is the only one who is capable of seeing these visions which are tied to something deeper on the Train. It's later hinted that she is part of a bigger destiny involved.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: She tried to save an Apex child during the final battle between them and White Gestalt. But when she dies from fallen shrapnel, said Apex child snatches her heart and turns it into her Battle Trophy all while Specter has to watch in anguish and Grace and Simon speak ill about her sacrifice.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: She's bright and cheery most of the time, so she frightens Specter when she gets serious and asks him if he's going to stand around and do nothing instead of working on getting better.
Lampetia: (eerily calm) How long are you going to stand there in the middle of the sea, your jacket in the air waiting for a wind that will never come?
  • Plucky Girl: Despite being outnumbered, overpowered and half of her face shaved clean off, she still fights back against Ai and his @Ignister monsters. This ultimately gives her a new upgraded form.
  • Power Makes Your Hair Grow: Her upgraded form results in long hair.
  • Restablishing Character Moment: She was described as "Bright, cheerful, loud" by Larkspur. Palimpsest Car has her be bubbly and cheerful, but also shows her compassion towards Specter (who full on wails in her arms) and London (who had to kill her).
  • The Quest: When Specter first met her, she was on a journey to find a certain car with a white lighthouse and black beach. Ai initially tries to tear it apart by stating it's only an image from a picture book which Lampetia accepts that the place is real somehow. She also is capable of seeing visions of seeing someone talking to her in that particular landscape — said someone is later revealed to be a former passenger named Armand.
  • Satellite Character: Her only characterization so far is that she's Specter's former denizen partner and a bright and cheery kore. The co-author reveals that she'll be getting more personality in Act 2.
  • The Smurfette Principle: Not counting Tokio's Chikorita, she's the only female member of White Gestalt.
  • Team Member in the Adaptation: She only joins with White Gestalt in Knight of the Orange Lily near the end of the story and doesn't do much. In Crocus, she appears in the beginning of Act 2 and is considered an honorary member by the five.
  • The Three Faces of Eve: She's the Child to Chloe's Seductress and Amelia's Wife. She's energetic, lovable, innocent and indeed child-like. Ironically, she's the oldest of the three.
  • Town Girls: The Femme to Chloe's Neither and Amelia's Butch. She's the long-haired, kind hearted support Specter needed in his initial trip with her bubbly attitude and gentleness being her most defining traits.
  • Tranquil Fury: In a flashback, when Specter kept backtracking as to why he shouldn't go out to entertain children in a hospital, Lampetia dropped her perky attitude and gives him an Armor-Piercing Question with such an icy tone of voice that it made him speechless.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: Specter and London see her as a true partner and both equally mourned her death. However, Tiffany and the Apex leaders don't care that she's Specter's denizen partner and one of his sole motivations to get back on the Train. She's a battle trophy or someone that should be wheeled because they're a stupid null. Gladion and Tokio also show sympathy for her, especially when Ai mocks that she's a sight for sore "eye" after half her face got shaved off and are ready to beat them down for the insensitive remark.
  • Yin-Yang Bomb: She can unleash beams of light and her upgraded form allows her to control the shadows of the White Gestalt.

    Shadow Gestalt
The shadows of the White Gestalt whom Lampetia can summon to trap her enemies.
  • Apologizes a Lot: Shadow Specter repeatedly apologizes for scaring Lampetia while she smacks him across the head with her staff.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Shadow Specter first appears playing off the trademark "I am a Shadow...the true self!"...before he starts apologizing and begging for mercy. Definitely not Specter-like.
  • The Eeyore: Shadow Tokio is glum and deadpan with a morose look on his face.
  • Keet: Shadow Gladion is excited about being alive.
  • Living Shadow: All of them are the shadows of the White Gestalt and Lampetia asks if the White Gestalt entered the Living Shadow Car while she was in the Apex's hands.
  • Mirror Self: Their personalities are polar opposites to their main selves: Shadow Gladion is energetic, Shadow Specter is somewhat shy and apologetic, Shadow Tokio is cynical and Shadow London is zen.
