* NiceMeanAndInbetween: In two flavors
** For Gladion, Tokio, and London: London is the Nice; despite his cynicism and implied SecretlySelfish attitude for the White Gestalt to come back together, he's the most open out of the three. Tokio is the Mean, as he becomes more and more abrasive in his disgust towards Grace. Gladion is the In-between; while he's not nice like London, he knows when to not let his attitude towards certain people get in the way like Tokio.
** For the Specter Trio. Lampetia is pure Nice as she is a pure-hearted soul who only wants Specter to be better. Specter, obviously, is the mean, as an aloof silver-haired passenger who has done nasty things in the past and has an abrasive side, while Easter is the In-between as they balance out Lampetia's kindness with Specter's sadism.

* ThereAreNoTherapists: Zigzagged. Gladion wasn't given therapy as he shown to be fine up until the search for his father had them go on a Train. Specter can't get therapy due to his status as a cyber-terrorist (and Ryoken's insistence there's no train) and Tokio mentions he's taken therapy to Gladion, even using a technique when Specter has a panic attack, before lampshading that Gladion should really go get therapy some time.

* TragicHero: All of them wanted to save the Train from the Apex; they ended up nearly ''destroying'' the Train with their actions. Gladion's final words before he left the train cement it -- he just wanted to be the knight whosaved everyone.

* {{Foreshadowing}}: The line he gives to Ai after the Gestalt beat him is from ''Series/PowerRangersNinjaSteel'' ("Show's over, ninja's win!") At the end of the Horrorland Car, Gladion decides that the Gestalt will turn from knights to ninjas.

* MythologyGag: Specter gifts them a mirror broach, which is something the Specter of ''Infinity Train: Melancholy Afterlife'' wore (albeit that was partially justified since Specter was a ''tsukumogami'' and the mirror broach was tied to their existence).

* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: PlayedForDrama. Tokio unable to see Goh once (because he was ill) was engraved in Goh's soul and made him subconsciously push others away for fear of being betrayed. However, this is from the mindset of an overly dramatic boy who refused to move on from this mistake and left Tokio with a humongous guilt complex in believing that everything that happened to him was his fault. And this isn't counting how this fractured Goh's friendship with Chloe either. It takes Goh reading his letter to realize what a douchebag he was and how his tunnel vision has led to burning the bridge he had with Chloe.

* FelonyMisdemeanor: If you believe Goh, you'll hear that Goh hates Tokio because he betrayed his trust. What actually happened was Tokio had fallen ill and couldn't make it out in the rain.

* MythicalMotifs: Act 2 starts giving him a vampire motif. He has to disguise himself as one to infiltrate the castle he, Specter, and Tokio are stuck in, he picks up a bottle of "Vampire Breath" for later, and he also gets a knife that only activates its power by feeding it blood.

** On an individual level, Tokio is associated with purple and black: he mostly wear purple and black shirts, his deck has purple and black cards and he was found by White Gesalt in the 400 Rabbits Car, which had a purple twilight.

* DwindlingParty: Horrorland Car handicaps ''everyone except Gladion'' thanks to Chiller playing them all like a fiddle. By the end of Part 1, the only members whose fates we know are certain are his, Tokio, and Specter's.

* GoodWearsWhite: London's original attire was his white Presley suit -- later into his old white wrestling gear -- while Easter sticks to a white ensemble (because their base form was Specter back when he wore white) while Specter keeps a pair of white pants on him and has silver-white hair. Meanwhile Lampetia is a pure white marble statue.

* {{Irony}}: Despite London being the most cuckoo out there, having a gimmick of a stoner that combines Aztec mythos with ''Alice in Wonderland'', he's actually the most level-headed out of the White Gestalt, pointing out that Gladion is delusional with his quests and calmly telling Specter that for as much as he likes how Specter has feelings for him, there's no way they can have anything past close friends.

Albeit this is justified since he's not only the eldest member, but he's the only one who didn't get a memory wipe and had more time to confront his issues.

* LastNameBasis: He's usually called by his last name to keep with the "Gestalt" name and to not be confused with ''another'' Paul currently on the Train. It's also common place for commentators to call wrestlers by their last names (if they have any).

* AllForNothing: Tokio's attempt to travel to Vermillion City to see Goh again were pointless. He just got himself whisked onto the Train and broken for the sake of atonement, wasting two years of his life, and Goh ultimately found the letter in Celebi's shrine regardless.

Added DiffLines:

* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: He wished for Celebi to whisk him away so he can fully explain to Goh why he couldn't make their meeting. Cue the Infinity Train, which casts a ''green'' glow ala the green Mythical Pokémon, to take him away from his world for two years before he reunites with Goh to have a talk to about the truth.

* ForgottenFallenFriend: DownplayedTrope, as Tokio isn't ''dead''. However, by the time the present day comes and Tokio returns to the train alongside the rest of White Gestalt, he's effectively been [[UnPerson erased]] from Goh's mind, with the boy having come to develop a brand new obssession over ''Chloe'' instead, with Tokio barely crossing his mind once or twice afterwards. Moreover, because Goh never thought to talk about Tokio to Chloe, he never gets any sense of moving forward with his life, meaning that most of Goh's problems with friendship could've been solved much sooner.

To highlight just how much Goh stopped caring for him, Goh searched for Chloe for three days straight when she disappeared. For Tokio? Goh did ''nothing'' but try to push the boy out of his mind.

** Despite Tokio being the basis of Goh's angst, Goh actually spends more time worried on ''Chloe''. As of Act 2, Goh's only had two talks with the boy. Moreover, Goh searched for Chloe for three days straight when she disappeared. For Tokio? He did ''nothing'' but try to push the boy out of his mind.
