Main Characters

    Kakarot Kent

Kakarot "Clark" Kent

The main character of the series. One of the few Saiyans who survived the destruction of their planet the genocide by Rogal Zaar as he was sent off world. He landed on Earth and was taken in by the Kents, though at a certain age he embarked on adventures around the world on his own before becoming the hero Metropolis.

  • The Ace: He's a top notch martial artist who is among the strongest beings in the universe and his heroism while traveling in space turned the Super Saiyan from a symbol of fear to a symbol of heroism.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade:
    • He's still mostly upbeat, but his inability to suppress his desire for battle is the source of some shame for him. He is far more torn up over realizing that he killed his father figure than in canon as well. On learning his origins, he initially despises being a Saiyan as it leaves him wondering if his desire to fight and grow stronger was rooted in a desire to hurt people.
    • After the battle with Rogal Zaar and he has time to think about he Super Saiyan state, he doesn't take any pride in it, feeling that the form he entered thanks to intense anger would corrupt him with is rage. Training with Mogo helps him accept how it's part of him.
  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Surprisingly yes. In canon he was losing his fight with Vegeta since the move he needed to even the odds was putting to much strain on him. In this version of the Saiyan Saga, Kakarot does suffer from a lack of control in his Wrath State, but it does give enough power that he does take the upper hand before Vegeta turned into an Oozaru.
    • In general, Word of God is that because living in the DC universe means fighting powerful enemies on a regular basis as opposed to the infrequent moments in canon, he's much stronger than at the same point in life he was in canon, being compared to a Super Saiyan in the Namek or Android Saga.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Not by much. He's still an Adult Child, but he's better educated than his canon counterpart.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Due to being raised by the Kents and his other influences, he is more motivated by a desire to help others than he is canon. The narration describes him akin to the more heroic characterization Son Goku had in the original dub of Dragon Ball Z.
  • Adaptational Super Power Change: The Kaioken is replaced with him using the Wrath State to draw on the power of the Great Ape, and his Instant Transmission is replaced him tapping into the Violet Light in order to create portals. The ability has far more limits than Instant Tranmission since his love of battle means he can only create portals to areas where he senses a high power, but in his fight with Gohan he does demonstrate he can use the ability to redirect enemy attacks back at them.
  • Adaptation Name Change: It's noted by the narrator that he's not actually called Goku in universe, but is referred to as such for the audience's convenience for the first two sagas. By end of the Saiyan Saga, the narration starts calling him Kakarot.
  • All-Loving Hero: Naturally. He is generally a friendly guy who wants to be friends with other people. He's pulled a Save the Villain because he believes in giving others a second chance. Even after Rogal Zaar kills himself and Kakarot's anger over Batman's death subsides, he laments seeing such a powerful and intelligent fighter die a senseless death.
  • Always Someone Better: In terms of martial arts skills, he proves this to BATMAN when he's possessed by Parallax, putting his strength on Kakarot's level.
  • Anime Hair: He is the Trope Codifier after all.
  • Anti Anti Christ: The Super Saiyan was figure the Saiyans believed to be a being who lived for war. Kakarot is an All-Loving Hero whose travels in space single handedly changed how the universe saw the Super Saiyan.
  • The Artifact: Uses the Dragon Fist, which in Dragon Ball was a modeled after the Eternal Dragon Shenron. Here it's a shape for an attack Kakarot used because "it just felt right".
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Oh yes. Just look at what he did to Rogal Zaar.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Shows up in the Doom Saga to save Superboy from the Parasite.
  • Big Eater: Of course. When he and Larfleeze eat together, Larfleeze eats until his stomach is ready to burst and Kakarot still wants more. Larfleeze states he's never seen someone eat as much as Kakarot has.
  • Blood Knight: Kakarot does seek to help people but also loves fighting. Even with Martha teaching him that people get hurt fighting and that violence is generally wrong, he still felt a desire for battle against strong opponents. His desire for a challenge was so strong that using the Violet Light to teleport away from an exploding planet took him to Mogo, having sense the living planet's power and the challenge he could provide.
  • Book Dumb: He's better educated than his canon counterpart, but still isn't very smart in areas that aren't related to fighting. When he asks Gohan how strong he is and he states Luthor estimated his power could destroy a solar system, after leaving him, Kakarot realizes he doesn't know what a solar system is.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: He's an Adult Child who is one of the strongest defenders of Earth. He's also an expert martial arts teacher, something even Luthor commends him on.
  • Character Development:
    • Came to Metropolis wanting to fight. When he learns of his heritage as Saiyan he initially despises the side of him that is a Saiyan, but learns to accept that being a Saiyan is part of who he is, to the point where he even calls himself Kakarot Kent.
    • During the Super Saiyan Saga, he finds his own unique way of helping people, wanting to be more than just a person who goes looking for fights.
  • Composite Character:
    • Of different depictions of himself and obviously Superman. He's drawn from the more heroic depiction of Son Goku in the initial dub of Dragon Ball Z, along with taking on Superman's role in the DC universe.
    • Also takes some traits from All-Star Superman by the Super Saiyan Saga, and by the Doom Saga adds a version of Superman's condition where his own powers will eventually kill him.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • After he learns to draw on the power of the Great Ape he dishes out one on Raditz, who fails to land a single blow on him.
    • Upon turning Super Saiyan for the first time he dishes out one against Rogal Zaar, landing a beatdown while Rogal Zaar can barely land a single blow in response. He even goes as far as allowing Rogal Zaar to land a punch just to demonstrate that he can't win.
    • Inflicts an even more one sided one on Mongul. His rage from sacrificing the perfect life granted by the Black Mercy causes him to power up into the Awesome, but Impractical bulky Super Saiyan form, but Kakarot was already so far out of Mongul's league that the form's lack of speed wasn't a hindrance. The only hit Mongul landed, a kick to the face, hurt him instead of Kakarot.
    • In the Doom Saga he dishes out one against the Parasite. Parastie had drained the energy from Major Force and Superboy but lack of skill kept him from landing a single blow on Kakarot who used his staff to deflect every attack the Parasite launched before flinging him into orbit.
    • In the Doom Saga he easily defeats Atomic Skull and Metallo's combined form, dodging all their attacks and seperating them with a single blow as Super Saiyan.
  • Dating Catwoman: With Lady Shiva, who at certain point switched from fighting him to flirting with him.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: By the Doom Saga it's revealed he's dying from a virus and exerting his power will accelerate the symptomes. This leads him being much weaker an unable to maintain Super Saiyan for as long as he could otherwise, allowing Godspeed to defeat him.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: After the battle with Rogal Zaar his first guess about his wearabouts is that he's dead based on the heavenly scenery around him. When he hears Mogu's voice, his first guess is that he's a talking tree.
  • Friendly Enemy: He is polite with Atomic Skull and Metallo, treating them as friends even though they are trying to kill him, implying his like this with most supervillains.
  • Genius Ditz: He's childish and insensitive, but when it comes to fighting he's a genius, easily mastering complicated techniques and figuring out drawbacks in mindlessly power up as a Super Saiyan.
  • Happily Adopted: By the Kents.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Begins suffering from this after the Saiyan Saga due to association with the Saiyans who ravaged the Earth.
  • Horrifying the Horror: Upon transforming into a Super Saiyan, the sight of the legend terrifies Rogal Zaar. Rogal Zaar spent his whole life hunting the Saiyans, to him, the legendary Super Saiyan is the most frightening thing imaginable.
  • Idiot Hero: As the narration sums up, "Goku is still Goku." When he hears that Lex Luthor is the most powerful man on Earth, he tries to fight him, is confused when his security tries to pull him from the room, and even more confused when Luthor passes out from a single blow.
  • Innocently Insensitive:
    • Given that he's grown up with people to teach him how to act as an adult, it's no surprise. When meeting Batman, the Dark Knight states that the two had previously trained together under the same teachers. To his annoyance, Kakarot didn't remember that.
    • Hearing that Lex Luther was "the most powerful man on Earth" he tried to challenge him to a fight and knocked him out with a single punch.
    • When he sees Broly, he notes that he is strong but is states he could take him. He later rethinks that when he gets a feeling for how strong Broly really is.
  • Just Toying with Them: After turning Super Saiyan against Rogal Zaar, Kakarot could have simply used his greater speed to pummel his adversary without taking a single hit in return. Instead he hovered just a few feet away from him while wailing on him, and when Rogal Zaar managed to land a couple of lucky hits, Kakarot allowed him to land a third blow simply to demonstrate that Rogal Zaar couldn't hurt him anymore. Batman's death but him in a very bad mood so he wanted to make sure Rogal Zaar suffered for it.
  • Large Ham: Regardless of the name this is still a version of Goku. He even loudly calls out the names of his attacks despite not needing to.
  • My Name Is Inigo Montoya: "I'M KAKAROT KENT! AND I'M PROUD OF THAT!"
  • No-Sell:
    • After turning Super Saiyan, the only times Rogal Zaar does hit him, it has no effect. Kakarot even lets him land a hit to demonstrate how outclassed he is.
    • Gets kicked in the head by Mongul during the fight. Mongul hurt his own foot.
  • Odd Friendship:
    • Forms a number of odd ones, including Batman, Broly, Lobo, and Larfleeze.
    • During the Doom Saga he develops one with Cassandra Cain. She isn't much of a talker but as Kakarot is the only person who could ever follow her moves they manage to bond over martial arts.
  • One-Man Army: When Kakarot is wandering the galaxy during the Super Saiyan Saga, the Thanagarians the Tameranians both make a truce to kill out of revenge for what the Saiyans did in the past. Their attempts to kill him fail, and they almost destroy their own sun and Kakarot prevents its destruction.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • After Batman is killed all he thinks about is making Rogal Zaar suffer.
    • In his fight with Mongul, after escaping the dream brought about by the Black Mercy, the only thing on his mind is getting even and he nearly kills the tyrant before stopping himself.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil:
    • After turning Super Saiyan, he could have killed Rogal Zaar any time he wanted, but instead chose to pummel him instead. He goes as far as letting Rogal Zaar land a hit simply to demonstrate he couldn't win, and mocks him for boasting that he would kill him.
    • Defeats the Parasite by sending him into orbit, where he will be stuck revolving around the moon.
  • Save the Villain:
    • Convinces Wonder Woman to spare Vegeta in the Saiyan Saga, believing he deserved another chance.
    • During the Super Saiyan Saga he convinces Broly not to kill Paragus. This causes Paragus to undergo a Heel Realization.
  • Straight Man and Wise Guy: Acts as the Wise Guy and everyone else is the Straight Man, except for Larfleeze.
  • Superman Substitute: Exaggerated from his canon counterpart as he's Composite Character of himself and Superman.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Seeing what the other Saiyans had gone through he actually sympathizes with them and laments not being able to save Raditz.
  • Trash Talk: After he No-Sells Rogal Zaar's attacks, Kakarot sarcastically reminds Rogal Zaar that he said he was going to kill him.
  • Vengeance Feels Empty: After seeing Rogal Zaar kill himself, his anger subsides and he sees it as a pointless waste of such of a powerful and intelligent warrior.
  • What a Senseless Waste of Human Life: Sees Rogal Zaar's death as this.
  • The Worf Effect:
    • Being the main character doesn't exempt him from this trope, just like in canon.
    • Is nearly killed by Raditz in the Saiyan Saga to demonstrate how strong the Saiyans are.
    • Is beaten again by Rogal Zaar in the Entity Saga. In a departure from the norm this isn't simply a matter of strength, Kakarot in is Wrath State is stronger than Rogal Zaar, but the lack of finess in that form left him open to Rogal Zaar's myriad of skills and myriad of gadgets. In his base form he was completely outclassed.
  • Worf Had the Flu:
    • Is nearly killed fighting Godspeed in the Doom Saga. Kakarot exerting himself enough to have a chance at winning causes him to suffer from the effects of the virus that is killing him.
    • Occurs again when fight Manchester Black's Superman Revenge Squad with the virus kicking as he was on the verge of winning. Luthor states he had seen Kakarot win against worse odds in the past.

    Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman

Diana, the princess of the Amazons. She formed the middle ground in the trio with Kakarot and Batman.

  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Not that Wonder Woman isn't badass normally, but this series establishes her as being far more powerful compared to DC's heroes than most depictions. Hal Jordan and Aquaman both die against Raditz and Nappa, respectively, but Diana manages to hold out against the much stronger Vegeta. She's still clearly outclassed but does much better than the other heroes who initially fought the Saiyans.
    • When she spars with an unrestrained Vegeta in the Super Saiyan Saga, she reveals she had been stepping up her training in response to Vegeta. Despite him training himself and becoming much stronger than in the Saiyan Saga, she is able to keep up with him, though he's not going full out.
  • All-Loving Hero: State she loves everyone, and love is her source of strength. She even admits to showing love for Vegeta after he admits he's driven by fear of Darkseid and that he believes nobody could ever love him.
  • Always Someone Better: Was initially this to Kakarot, as he could never beat her prior to the Saiyan Saga.
  • Evil Is Easy: Firm believer in this. Which is part of why she views love as strength. Cruelty is easy, doing what is hard is true strength.
  • Excellent Judge of Character: Believes that there is some good inside Vegeta, something Vegeta himself refuses to believe. She's been proven right but to her annoyance that good is burried under a mountain of jerk.
  • Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: Averted. After having had enough of Vegeta boast that Virtue Is Weakness, she delivers a "The Reason You Suck" Speech about how villains are driven by fear. She is proven on the money with Vegeta's confession thanks to the Lasso of Truth.
  • The Kirk: Described as acting as the middle ground between Kakarot and Batman.
  • Morality Pet: Is the only person besides himself Vegeta cares about.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: In response to Vegeta's talk about violence and cruelty being strength, she has enough, pins and binds him with the Lasso of Truth, and forces him to admit she could kill him in that moment if she could desire. She then forces him to admit that he is afraid of Darkseid, and that no matter what he does he can't surpass Darkseid.
  • The Power of Love: She views cruelty as easy and that true strength comes from doing what is hard. And that loving everyone, even Vegeta is what makes her strong.
  • Save the Villain: Saves Vegeta from Orion in the Entity Saga.
  • The Worf Effect: Downplayed. She was established as Earth's strongest hero during the Origins Saga, and during the Saiyan Saga she proved unable to beat Vegeta. However she does avoid losing and is ultimately the one who manages to defeat him.
  • Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: Vegeta showing respect for her because they are both royalty disappoints her since it's still another example of Vegeta's arrogance believing that being royalty makes them better than everyone else.

    Vegeta

Vegeta

The prince of all Saiyans who left their planet to attack Thanagar as a boy. As he returned he saw the planet destroyed. Seeking revenge on the killer, Rogal Zaar nearly slew him before he was abducted by Darkseid.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: He was raised by Darkseid right after he saw his own planet destroyed. Seeing the true nature of what Darkseid is caused a Despair Event Horizon.
  • Adaptational Badass:
    • In his Beam-O-War with Kakarot, he is actually winning at first as opposed to their attacks being evenly matched like they were in canon.
    • In canon, Vegeta suffered from being Always Second Best to Goku after their first fight. Thus far this trope hasn't occurred, Rogal Zaar, the Big Bad after Vegeta, was stated to be weaker than Vegeta, meaning even during this series' equivalent of the Namek Saga, Vegeta was still more powerful than Kakarot.
    • When the two of them finally meet again in the Doom Saga and compare strength as Super Saiyans it's made ambiguous as to who the stronger one was, showing Vegeta didn't suffer from falling behind like in canon and Diana didn't doubt that he would likely have killed Kakarot if they did fought.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: He's just as much of a jerk as he is in canon but his canon counterpart intended to take revenge for his defeat by destroying Earth after getting his wish to become immortal. Vegeta in this series is sore about his defeat and brags about what Darkseid will do to the Earth, but it's just a mask to cover up his own fear what will happen to him. He is enraged by seeing Kakarot turn Super Saiyan as in canon and flat out states his desire to kill him when the two meet again in the Doom Saga.
  • Always Someone Better: Proves this to Kakarot in their fight in the Saiyan Saga, Kakarot having to resort to the Wrath State in order to stand a chance. In the end Vegeta wins anyways by transforming into a Great Ape, and unlike Kakarot he's able to control himself in that form. The narrations during Kakarot's fight with Rogal Zaar stated Vegeta was actually stronger than the killer of the Saiyans, indicating that Kakarot still hadn't caught up to Vegeta. When they both show off their full strength in the Doom Saga, they appear to be a close match, unlike in canon where Vegeta frequently struggled to catch up. Diana doesn't doubt that Vegeta could kill Kakarot if they fought.
  • Armor Is Useless: Averted, ironically. Despite the armor put on him by the Amazons being meant to restrain him it out turned the braces on it could be used to deflect attacks the same way Wonder Woman's could.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: He wouldn't be Vegeta otherwise. While Darkseid tried to beat any attachments out of him, struggling against Kakarot, a low born warrior, brought Vegeta's pride back out. Make no mistake though, he's more than capable of backing up his boasting.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: He is the leader of the three Saiyans working for Darkseid, and fought his way up to become The Dragon to Darksied.
  • Ax-Crazy: Vegeta relishes in violence and destruction. When he escapes his prison in the Entity Saga, he is frustrated that the armor the Amazons put on him keeps him from killing anyone.
  • Bad Boss: Treats Raditz and Nappa poorly, killing the latter and considering killing the former for not having killed Flash and Martian Manhunter.
  • Big Bad: For the Saiyan Saga.
  • Break the Haughty: His Character Development is brought by this. He was defeated on Earth and stayed behind to avoid the wrath of his cruel master. After he escaped his prison the first time, Diana humiliates him when she has had enough of his arrogance. When he realizes he does care about Diana due to the Lasso of Truth, he tries to say that he deserves her when holding to it. Instead he forced to admit that he deserves nothing, which proves to be a Despair Event Horizon causing him to turn Super Saiyan.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Even with the armor keeping him from drawing on most of his power he is still far from harmless and would have gone on a killing spree after he got freed himself the first time if the armor didn't him from doing so. When he gets free in the Super Saiyan Sage he almost single handedly defeats the Injustice Gang even though he can't draw on his full strength.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Firmly believes Virtue Is Weakness and that one has to be evil to be strong. Though underneath he believes he has to be evil because nobody will ever show him kindness after all the evil he has done.
  • Character Development: When attacking Earth he only sees himself as Darkseid's follower, not caring about his heritage as Saiyan. The fight with Kakarot causes his pride to come back out. While acting as Wonder Woman's prisoner he initially only thinks about himself, refusing to admit he even cares about anything else. Confronted by the Lasso of Truth he accepts he does care about her, but is also struck with the painful realization he doesn't deserve her, or anything else. This starts to get him to open up to the possibility of life outside of being a villain. He doesn't even deny it when Wonder Woman states he's not the same man he was when he came to Earth and does actually seem up to accepting her offer to change his ways. So far however it doesn't make mean he still isn't a jerk.
  • The Comically Serious: It's Vegeta, it comes with the territory of being such as hammy egomaniac.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • After turning into a Great Ape he inflicts a brutal one on Kakarot, nearly killing him.
    • In the Super Saiyan Saga, he nearly defeats the Injustice Gang until he thinks of killing them, causing the armor placed on him to start restraining him to the point where he can't fight.
  • Despair Event Horizon:
    • Seeing Darkseid's true nature caused him to give up any hope of ever surpassing him, even crushing his Pride until the battle with Kakarot brought it back out.
    • Surprisingly managed another one in the Super Saiyan Saga when he held onto the Lasso of Truth and tried to say that he deserved Diana. The lasso making him tell the truth forced him to admit he deserved nothing. The event caued him to turn Super Saiyan.
  • The Dragon: Is initially this to Darkseid before he's defeated and chooses to remain on Earth knowing what Darkseid will do to him if he returns in defeat.
  • The Dreaded: When Vegeta does finally meet Kakarot again in the Doom Saga, while Kakarot does want to fight him his is also visibly afraid. Even Wonder Woman is frightened by seeing Vegeta's full strength.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: When attempting to flea to Apokolips he boasts about what Darkseid will do to the Earth, which caused him to realize what Darkseid will do him, so he decides to remain on Earth figuring anything that happens to him on Earth is better than what Darkseid will do to him.
  • Evil Prince: Was initially this. He fought his way to become Darkseid's top ranked warrior and plot to kill numerous times, until he realized he could never kill Darkseid and accepted his role as his servant.
  • Even Evil Can Be Loved: Is shocked when encounters this trope with Diana.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Does start to care about Diana, no matter how much he denies.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Played for Laughs, he is by disturbed Wonder Woman explaining that El Flamingo eats people's faces.
    • While it serves to show what a jerk he is, when he learns Diana is also royalty he does state he should have shown her more respect. Because as royalty, he feels they are both superior to those around them.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Though he only admits it when the Lasso of Truth is used on him, Vegeta scoffs at Diana's ideals of love because he feels that he has to be evil because nobody could ever love one who has committed all the evil he has. Then he hears Diana's state her love for all beings does extend to him.
    • This even extends to himself when some good starts appearing inside him. After saving Wonder Woman from the Injustice Gang, he tries to deny caring about her. When grabs the Lasso of Truth to prove it to himself, he finds himself admitting he does care about her.
  • Evil Is Petty: Vegeta is exceptionally arrogant and will murder someone over the slightest insult.
  • Genius Bruiser: He's unearthly powerful warrior, an intelligent one, and he's crafty enough escape from the Amazons' prison, twice.
  • Implacable Man: In the Saiyan Saga, Vegeta refuses to quit until he can barely move. Getting his own ultimate attack overpowered by Kakarot fails to stop him and prompts him to turn into the Great Ape. Even when reduced to his normal form it takes what's left of the Justice League to occupy him long enough for Luthor's Kill Sat to fire at him. This still isn't enough to stop him and he still has enough strength to defeat the Flash, and he's only barely defeated by an injured Wonder Woman.
  • It's All About Me: Vegeta didn't hold any attachment to his own people, he only got angry over seeing his planet destroyed because it robbed him of what he saw as his birthright to rule.
  • Jerkass: He's a Smug Super who delights in violence and bloodshed.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Provokes Orion by saying it hurts him that Darkseid sees Vegeta as his real son. Orion's reaction implies there's he's not lying.
    • When watching Kakarot's fight with Rogal Zaar, he points out how little chance Kakarot has of winning and the drawbacks to using the Wrath State. Wonder Woman admits he's right.
    • When confronted by Steve Trevor about killing him and refusing to apologize, Vegeta points out that they were enemies on opposites of a battle and Steve was also trying to kill him.
    • Taunts Steve about how Wonder Woman and the Amazons are going to be killed by the Injustice Gang without his help. He likewise boasted he could easily defeat the Injustice Gang When he does face them he dominates the fight until he thinks about killing them, which causes the armor to restrain him to the point where he can no longer fight.
    • In the Doom Saga, Diana tries to break up Vegeta's fight Black Adam saying they were sent on a mission of peace. Vegeta makes it clear even if they were sent officially to negoiate, he was really expected to fight Black Adam and force him into submission.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Starts off as this. When he sees his home planet destroyed, unlike Nappa and Raditz he sheds no tears over the loss of life, and is only angry at the destruction of the empire that he was the heir to. After his Character Development he starts to become a Jerk with a Heart of Gold when he faced with the reality he does actually care about things other than himself, mainly Diana.
  • Knight of Cerebus: The Origin Saga quickly got much darker with Vegeta and the other Saiyans' backstories. While Vegeta has a few comedic moments for the rest of the series they are few and far between, with any plot focused on him being much darker.
  • Large Ham: Not as hammy a performance as in canon or Dragon Ball Z Abridged, but still Vegeta is Vegeta.
  • Loophole Abuse: How he escapes his prison when Orion attacks. The armor that restrains him forbid him from escaping but it did allow him flee if his life was in danger. He exploits this again when he tricks Steve Trevor into releasing him when the Injustice Gang attacks, once more fleeing, but does decide to save Diana.
  • Meaningless Villain Victory: Defeats Kakarot in the Saiyan Saga, but is defeated nonetheless.
  • No-Sell: Scarecrow's fear toxin has no effect on him, until he tries to kill Scarecrow and the restraint of the armor becomes too much.
  • Pet the Dog: Does ultimately decide to save Wonder Woman and the Amazons from the Injustice Gang.
  • Power Limiter: The armor placed on him by the Amazons keeps him from drawing on his full strength. The restraints it puts however did allow him to train with it as a sort of makeshift weight.
  • Pride: After his pride is rekindled, he's ever bit as much an egotist you would expect any version of Vegeta to be.
  • Proud Warrior Race Guy: Vegeta takes pride in his Saiyan heritage and as their prince he views himself as the strongest.
  • Restraining Bolt: After his defeat he forced to wear a magic suit of armor by the Amazons that restricts his full power and prevents him from committing certain actions. To his annoyance this means he can't kill anyone and just thinking killing someone causes the restraints on him to increase to the point where he can barely move.
  • Smug Super: He's the strongest of the Saiyans introduced in the Origins Saga and Darkseid's right hand man. He's got the ego match both.
  • The Starscream: Spent years trying to kill Darkseid, and failing. Eventually Darkseid allowed him to suceed, just to reveal what Vegeta killed was only an avatar and the true Darkseid was beyond his power to destroy.
  • Sympathetic P.O.V.: The Entity Saga and Super Saiyan Saga pull no punches with what a horrible man Vegeta is, but still hammers in how miserable life is and that he is victim of a greater evil. This eventually leads to setting up the series' version of his redemption arc when Vegeta does start to consider life outside of being a villain.
  • Training from Hell: While imprisoned by the Amaons, he took advantage of the restraints making it harder to move as a form of this trope, acting like his Training from Hell in canon where he trained under enhanced gravity.
  • Villain Forgot to Level Grind: Averted, Vegeta used the difficulty in moving due to his restraining armor as a form of makeshift Training from Hell. And then he turned Super Saiyan.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Kakarot taking the upper hand in their fight drives him mad, to the point where he attempts to destroy the Earth. Ironically he's somewhat thankful for it as it allows him to regain his Saiyan pride.
  • Villain Respect:
    • Does show some mild respect for Wonder Woman seeing how strong she is.
    • Though it's unwelcome, he does state that after learning Diana is royalty that she warranted more respect than everyone else. The unwelcome part comes from his reasoning; being royalty makes them better and stronger than everyone else, a view Diana doesn't agree with.
  • Wham Line: "I, deserve, nothing."
  • What You Are in the Dark: Deep down he believes he has to be evil because there is no turning back after all he has down.
  • You Have Failed Me: Kills Nappa for his defeat.

    Batman

Batman

The hero of Gotham City who spent some time training with Kakarot under the same martial arts teachers. He approaches him as an ally during the series proper.

    Superboy

Superboy / "Subject GO-011152213477" / Gohan

A young Saiyan who had already achieved the form of Super Saiyan raised by Lex Luthor, supposedly to act as the new protector of Metropolis after Luthor became president. Luthor claims to have found himself, but the Doom Saga revealed he was actually Kakarot's son, in a manner of speaking. Flashbacks show he is Luthor's creation.

  • Adaptational Badass: Gohan in canon couldn't fight when he debuted and could barely control his power. That is not the case with this character, who is already a Super Saiyan by the time he's introduced.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Gohan in canon was a Badass Bookworm in canon, but he gets to show off his intelligence far more here. He has memorized the exact distance from Earth to the moon, the speed of sound, and has learned multiple foreign languages despite his young age.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Downplayed. He's certainly not a jerk but he gets sore easily when someone is critical Lex Luthor and gets into a fight with Kakarot over it, albiet in part because Kakarot was happy for a fight himself.
  • Adaptational Late Appearance: Gohan in canon appeared before the rest of the Saiyans, sans his father of course. In this series it's the other way around.
  • Anime Hair: He spends all of his time as a Super Saiyan.
  • Bad Liar: When Lois grills him on his origin, aside from giving conflicting statements about his age, when defending himself he lets out that he wasn't born, he was created.
  • Child Prodigy: Is a Super Saiyan despite his young age. Going by how Luthor home schooled he's also very intelligent despite his age.
  • Composite Character: He's modeled after Son Gohan in terms of appearance, but his name and costume are taken from Superboy (the Kon-El/Conner Kent version who was a clone of Superman).
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: His debut battle sees him easily defeat Major Force with a single punch, and causes Deathstroke to surrender without a fight.
  • Foil: To Kakarot. Kakarot is an Idiot Hero but also a deceptivily intelligent fighter. Superboy is intelligent academically, but lacks his father's skill as a fighter.
  • Force and Finesse: The Force to Kakarot's Finese. He has greater raw energy than Kakarot, but due to his inexperience he lacks control.
  • Genius Bruiser: He was raised by Lex Luthor relentlessly homeschooled him until he could meet his lofty standards. He has the distance from the Earth to the moon memorized, along with the speed of sound.
  • I'm Standing Right Here: Played for Drama when he sees Lex Luthor talking about his appearance may worry people and how to make it more appealing, Superboy tries to get his attention asking how he can help. Luthor quickly silences him.
  • Large Ham: He's found making loud introductions whenever he gets into a fight and likes to announce the name of his attacks for no reason other than looking cool. Much to Luthor's annoyance.
  • Luke, You Are My Father: Is Kakarot's son, not that he's aware of it.
  • Only Sane Man: Enevitable when he's around people like Kakarot, Damian Wayne and Cassandra Cain.
  • Straight Man and Wise Guy: When working with Daiman Wayne in the Doom Saga, Gohan acts as the leveled head Straight Man to Daiman's arrogant Comically Serious Wise Guy.
  • Unskilledbut Strong: He's highly intelligent with regards to academics, but compared with Kakarot he's nowhere nearly as intelligent a fighter since he's never had to deal with a real challenge. This is demonstrated with Superboy is nearly killed by the Parasite despite turning fighting as a Super Saiyan, while Kakarot easily defeats Parasite without even turning Super Saiyan. After training under Kakarot he's started to move out of this.
  • Walking Spoiler: His existence is a big revelation.

    Batgirl II

Cassandra Cain

The daughter of Lady Shiva who was raised to be an assassin, but became a member of the Batfamily.
  • Badass Normal: She doesn't have any powers but is a top notch martial artists. Prior to meeting Kakarot she had never met anybody who displayed her level of skill.
  • Big Eater: She has ravaneous appetite that amazes even Kakarot. Quite tellingly when asks her to save food from a meal Luthor had prepared for them, she refuses.
  • Luke Iam Your Father: After watching the Trope Namer and becoming aware of Kakarot's Dating Catwoman dynamic with Lady Shiva she starts to wonder/hope that Kakarot could be her real father, he clariefies that he isn't biologically but he is happy to adopt her much to her delight.
  • The Comically Serious: She is still learning how to speak due to being raised with a focus exclusivily on martial arts. This leads to her speaking slowly with only a few words at a time, with her most coherent speech being when she quotes movies.
  • Happily Adopted: Ends up formally adopted by Kakarot. She's ecstatic about this.

  • Carry a Big Stick: Uses an Nth Metal mace.
  • Fantastic Racism: Hates Saiyans after what they did to her people, and feels guilty over it since she know Kakarot isn't evil.
  • Reincarnation: Is stated to have lived many past lives.
  • Took A Level Of Badass: While she was already a powerful fighter come the Doom Saga training with and picking up Kakarot's work ethic results in her being considerably stronger, able to take down a carefully chosen villain group that was predicted to be able to kill her at her previous level of power.
  • Winged Humanoid: Wings made of Nth metal.

    Hal Jordan

Hal Jordan

The veteran Green Lantern of Earth.

  • Back from the Dead: Revived by Kyle Rayner at the end of the Entity Saga.
  • Demoted to Extra: Hal Jordan is the most prominently featured Green Lantern in the comics. Here that role is given to Kyle Rayner.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: He hasn't had much screen time, but Kakarot meeting him gave him the idea to use Ki Attacks and he saves Kakarot from being killed by Raditz.
  • The Worf Effect: Is killed by Raditz, which along with Kakarot's defeat, cements how dangerous Raditz is.

    Mera

Mera

Aquaman's wife, who took his place on the Justice League after his death.

    Martian Manhunter

Martian Manhunter

A member of the Justice League who is a hero from Mars

    Kyle Rayner

Kyle Rayner

An inexperienced Green Lantern who presents the plan of searching for the Emotional Entities to revive those killed in the attack by Saiyans.

  • The Ace: Gradually develops into this. He has the capacity to channel every emotion. Batman outright states he can be better than Hal Jordan.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: His sheer willpower is enough for him to become the host to Ion and overpowers Rogal Zaar. Sinestro initially overpowers him, but after Batman advises Kyle to feel rather than think he wins easily.
  • Mid-Season Upgrade: Trades his Green Lantern Ring for a far more powerful White Lantern Ring.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Starts off as a rookie Green Lantern, loses his ring to Sinestro. Then he displays the Heroic Willpower to become host to Ion, and when the Entities are gather he's the one who channels their power to revive everyone, and on top of their combined power makes him a White Lantern. He and Kakarot attempt to test their power in a Beam-O-War, and Kyle wins by combining the light of each emotion, even though Kakarot was a Super Saiyan.

    Larfleeze

Larfleeze

Also known as Agent Orange, he is the poser of the sole Orange Lantern Power Battery and the only Orange Lantern in the universe. Initially hostile to Kakarot and his friends, he is convinced by Kakarot to help them gather the Emotional Entities under the promise that doing so will grant him something he doesn't have; an adventure.

  • Adaptational Heroism: Larfleeze has sometimes been an ally to the Green Lantern Corp in the comics and sometimes an enemy. Here is on the side of the heroes right after he's introduced.
  • Ambiguously Gay: His love towards Kakarot is enough to use the Violet Light to teleport to his location.
  • Amusing Alien: Thanks to the influence of the Orange Light he's a hilariously obsessive hoarder who will collect anything that catches his eye, regardless of whether or not it's even material.
  • Berserk Button: Do NOT attempt to steal or break anything he considers his possessions.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He's a complete goofball, but he's also a threat so powerful that the Guardians of the Universe's response to him was to gift him with items to satisfy him as opposed to fighting him.
  • Big Eater: He will eat until his stomach is ready to burst and his arms can barely move.
  • Breakout Character: Larfleez instantly proved a huge hit and after the Entity Saga, got to co-star with Jenny Olson in her podcast.
  • The Cuckoo Lander Was Right: Refuses to believe Kakarot is dead after the Entity Saga, and that if he waits for him to return to Earth, he will eventually show up. Backs this up by saying anything that vanished from his collection would eventually return, the longest that taking being hundreds of thousands of years. Kakarot obviously would not live that long, but Larfleeze was right about him being alive and that he would return to Earth.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Claims that Jenny's podcast is really his show because putting "and" in the title of the show "Up, Up and Olson" means the show belongs to both "ups", whoever they may be, which is why the title should be changed.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's an obsessive hoarder, but he did come to see Hawkgirl, Martain Manhunter, and especially Kakarot as friends.
  • Large Ham: "NO ONE SHALL TAKE MY VOTE FROM ME! IT IS MINE!"
  • Straight Man and Wise Guy: Acts the Wise Guy of the series, even when he's playing off Kakarot.
  • Time Abyss: It's unknown how old he is but he states he stopped bathing three billion years in the past.

    Broly

Broly

An abnormally powerful Saiyan who was exiled from Planet Vegeta due to fear of his power. By the present he's been acting as the champion in Mongul's Gladiator Games.

  • Adaptational Badass: Unlike in canon, the collar Paragus used to electricute him doesn't do any harm, the effect is only psychological.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Appears directly after this continuity's version of the Saiyan Saga as opposed to nearly two decades afterwards, as a result of landing on a more significant (and populated) planet compared to Vampa in canon.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Broly in canon wasn't evil, but he was still an Anti-Villain. Here due to meeting the main characters under different circumstances he's an ally from the start.
  • Always Someone Better: When he starts to display some his true power, Kakarot realizes that Broly is even stronger than him.
  • Anime Hair: He is a Saiyan after all. He has the longest hair of the Saiyans next to Raditz.
  • Barbarian Hero: His design asthetic.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's a generally friendly guy. Just don't make him mad.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Is introduced killing his opponent in the era before Mongul can even finish introducing him. When he appears again in the Super Saiyan Sage, he easily won another match, after which the narrator states that every single fight Broly took part in, he won with a single blow.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Kakarot telling him he's too strong for Paragus' collar to inflict any harm causes him to finally stop taking his father's abuse.
  • Gentle Giant: He's a huge man who is generally non violent.
  • The Juggernaut: Broly has won every match in Mongul's arena with no difficulty. The only reason Mongul and Paragus can keep him from turning on them is because of his submissive nature. After getting a sense of his real power, Kakarot realizes he wouldn't have been able to defeat him.
  • Loved by All: Broly is beloved by the people of Warworld. They don't care that he all of his matches are ended in a single blow, they see him as an unstoppable champion who can accomplish anything.
  • Nigh-Invulnerable: Broly has thus far proven indestructible. Mongul used a number of weapons on him to try to stop his attempts free Kakarot from the Black Mercy, and none of them had any effect. Unlike in canon, the restraints Paragus used on him has no effect, the damage is all in all Broly's head.
  • No-Sell: Mongul tries a myriad of weapons to stop him from attempting to free Kakarot from the Black Mercy. None of them do any damage.

    Mogo

Mogo

A living planet and a member of the Green Lantern Corp. Kakarot landed on him after his battle with Rogal Zaar.

  • The Comically Serious: He's normally a wise being with an otherworldly voice. It makes him playing off Kakarot's sillier moments all the funnier.
  • Genius Loci: He is a living planet.

    Steve Trevor

Steve Trevor

Wonder Woman's lover an agent of A.R.G.U.S.

    Nightwing/Batman II

Nightwing

Bruce Wayne's surrogate son. He was killed when Nappa destroyed the city Bluudhaven but was brought back to life at the end of the Entity Saga. After Bruce Wayne's death, he took up the mantle of Batman.

  • Ascended Extra: Was introduced as a hero who killed to show the seriousness of the Saiyan Saga, and got to return as a more fleshed out character in the Doom Saga.
  • Back from the Dead: Revived by Kyle Rayner at the end of the Entity Saga.
  • Badass Normal: Like his mentor, he doesn't have any powers, just relying on his wits, martial arts and gadgets.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Based on what the audience saw of the aftermath, his fight with the Riddler was very one sided in his favor.
  • Legacy Character: Becomes the new Batman after the death of his mentor.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: He's a Badass Normal, who was killed in the Saiyan Saga when his city was destroyed since a human with no powers isn't going matter against the Saiyans. Averted when he appears in The Doom Saga, where he gets to show off his skills manages to avoid the enemies who are out of his league.

Main Antagonists

    Rogal Zaar

Rogal Zaar

The warrior who responsible for the extermination of the Saiyans.

  • All for Nothing: Devoted his life to wiping out the Saiyans, only to run into the thing he most feared, the Super Saiyan, and take his own life. Even his attempted Taking You with Me failed.
  • Asshole Victim: He is a murderer who kill innocent people in his pursuit of wiping out the Saiyans. No tears are shed when Kakarot turns Super Saiyan, wrecks his shit, rubs salt in the wound, leaving Rogal Zaar to take his own life.
  • Better to Die than Be Killed: When he realizes he's lost against Kakarot, he takes his own life rather than let a much hated Saiyan kill him.
  • Big Bad: Of The Entity Saga.
  • Broke Your Arm Punching Out Cthulhu: Mortally wounds Batman. That instantly proves to be a mistake since it caused Kakarot to turn Super Saiyan.
  • Crazy-Prepared: On top of the gadgets he had with him, when facing Kakarot in the Entity Saga, he had an entire planet's worth of traps ready for any type of foe he could come across. He even prepared for the possibility he could lose and set the planet to explode in the event of his death.
  • Driven to Suicide: When he realizes he can't win against Kakarot as a Super Saiyan, he decides to kill himself to avoid dying at the hands of a Saiyan.
  • Fangs Are Evil: Very long pointed teeth.
  • Fantastic Racism: He was created to avenge the Daxamites and Tuffles killed by the Saiyans, and despies them with an undying hate. He doesn't care that there is no evidence Kakarot has actually hurt anyone, the fact that he is a Saiyan makes him equally guilty as any Saiyan who slaughtered innocent lives.
  • Genius Bruiser: He's a giant super strong warrior, a Gadgeteer Genius, and waited to wear down Kakarot until he was at his most vulnerable before gunning for the kill.
  • Hypocrite: Calls out Batman for using an underhanded trick in their fight after they agreed "No more tricks." But he had set up the planet he fought Kakarot on to explode if he died. He will talk about honor, but only cares about it until it is inconvenient to him.
    • Considers Saiyans to be monsters for their atrocities, but he will kill innocent people who stand in the way of his mission, even if they don't pose a threat.
  • Implacable Man: It doesn't matter how much abuse he takes when fought in the Entity Saga, he never quits. Up until he realizes he can't win.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: He is out to exterminate a race who as far he knows are Always Chaotic Evil but appears to have a rule against killing innocent people who get in his way. Then it turns out he will abandon that rule whenever it's convient, even if the person getting in his way doesn't pose a threat.
  • Let's Fight Like Gentlemen: Seeing Batman and Kakarot refusing to run with the rest of their allies, he discards his gadgets out of respect, agreeing "No. More. Tricks." To his annoyance, Batman still had some gadgets left to use against him. Of course it turns out he was planning to have the planet self destruct if he lost.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: After Kakarot turns Super Saiyan and starts to turn the tables on him, Rogal Zaar manages to overcome his fear of the Super Saiyan. Feeling his entire life led to this moment, he swears on the blood of the Daxamites and the Tuffles that he will kill Kakarot. But refusing to quit does nothing to change how outclassed he is. Kakarot even rubs salt in the wound by letting Rogal Zaar hit him, to no effect, just to drive home that he can't win.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: Is out to avenge the Daxamites and Tuffles genocide at the hands of the Saiyans, and remove the threat the Saiyans pose to the universe. But when he appears during the Entity Saga, he's attacking a Saiyan who hasn't done anything wrong and demonstrated he will kill innocent who get in his way as soon as his patience runs out, even if they don't pose a threat. When Kakarot asks how many of his friends need to die after Batman's death, Rogal Zaar states he will kill as many as it takes.
  • Oh, Crap!: When he sees Kakarot turn into a Super Saiyan, he's horrified at the sight of the Saiyan warrior spoken of in legend. Only his mission to kill the Saiyans is enough for him to stay focused, but even when answers Kakarot's question about how many more of his friends have to die there is noticeable fear in his voice. When Kakarot prepares to kill him, Rogal Zaar realizes he is going to die and chose to kill himself.
  • Stealthy Colossus: When attacking Kakarot, he launches hit an run attacks to wear him down, zipping back into the forest, vanishing despite his size.
  • The Unfettered: Despite his apparent sense of honor and reluctance to hurt innocent people, he will throw both of those things to the side the moment it's convenient for him.
  • Villain Has a Point: He argued that Saiyans are a threat to the universe. The rest of the universe agreed with him. But he loses his point when trying to kill Kakarot. His only argument is based on the crimes committed by the Saiyans, he doesn't even bother to provide evidence that Kakarot himself did anything wrong, nor did he seem to care.
  • Villainous Valor: Despite being terrified of the Super Saiyan, he keeps fighting against Kakarot even after getting a taste for how strong the Super Saiyan is.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Normal Saiyans don't scare him. The Super Saiyan, The Dreaded being only believed to be a figure of their legends, scares him stiff.
  • Would Hurt a Child: It doesn't matter what age Saiyans are, they all deserve to die for the crimes of their race in his eyes.

    Darkseid

Darkseid

The ruler of Apokolips in an eternal conflict with New Genesis. Hearing legends of the Super Saiyan, he abducted Nappa, Raditz and Vegeta with the intent of using them as warriors to tip the balance against New Genesis in his favor. Believing that Earth held the keys to the Anti-Life Equation, he sent them to conquer the planet.

  • Abusive Parent: Took in Vegeta and beat him on a regular basis to make him submit. While he considers Vegeta his son, that position only indicates he is his highest ranked servant, Darkseid still sees him as nothing more than a slave to his will.
  • Bad Boss: In response to Nappa complimenting, Darkseid cut his tail off just to remind of his place. His abuse of his underlings is so terrible that Vegeta chose not to flee back to Apokolips since whatever happened to him on Earth would be preferred to Darkseid's punishment for failure.
  • The Dreaded: The Saiyans are terrified of him, especially Vegeta who saw Darkseid's true nature.
  • Evil Overlord: The rule of Apokolips and an unspecified number of other planets.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Darkseid's true form is something beyond death, existing everywhere, in every dark thought across the universe.
  • Fighting a Shadow: What Vegeta and the Saiyans saw was nothing more than an avatar. Darkseid's true form is something else entirely.
  • Galactic Conqueror: Has already brought many worlds under his thrall, and with the Saiyans, subjugates many more.
  • God of Evil: Is flat out referred to as such.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: The most powerful villain introduced thus far, but his role as been limited to sending the Saiyans to Earth. How he has even reacted to their defeat has yet to be seen.
  • Humanoid Abomination: Looks like he's just another alien dictator. He is far beyond that.
  • Made of Evil: More accurately, he is literally evil itself, existing in the darkest thoughts of every mind in the universe.
  • Orcus on His Throne: So far has remained on Apokolips and relied on his underlings. Even when he abducted the Saiyans he, simply relied on his army of Parademons.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Nobody on Earth knew he existed, so they could not have prepared for him sending the Saiyans. Even Lex Luther who had built a Kill Sat to use against Kakarot couldn't have anticipated the technology of Apokolips being able to conteract his weapon.

    Lex Luthor

Lex Luthor

A genius Corrupt Corporate Executive who served as Kakarot's main enemy after he settled down in Metropolis. By the Saiyan Saga he has apparently reformed, but there are hints he still has a long running plot in the works.

  • Abusive Parent:
    • Talks about Superboy's appearance like he's a machine, ignoring that boy is standing in the same room offering to help. He coldly rebuffs when does finally notice. As a father he's likewise domineering, not allowing Superboy to go into the outside world without permisson. When quizzing him on protocol in a disaster, he expresses dissapointment just because Superboy got one question wrong.
    • In the Doom Saga, when Superboy is nearly killed by the Parasite, Luthor calls him a dissapointment and says the boy isn't his son. He was manipulating him into drawing on reserve power he hadn't tapped into yet, but it doesn't make his actions any less callous.
  • Action Politician: His (apparent) Heel–Face Turn had him act as a superhero. While he retired from that to focus on his duties as president, when attacked in the Doom Saga he shows he still keeps his gadgets and armor handy in case somebody does attack him.
  • Ambiguously Evil: He's introduced as a villain in the Origins Saga but the Saiyan Saga appears to have made a Heel–Face Turn. He's an undeniably a jerk, but he has done anything evil. He callously kills Subjekt 17 while making a rant about how anybody who opposes him will die, just as Gohan was talking him down. But in the same episode he is on friendly terms with Kakarot, says he is primarily concerned with Earth's safety and even vows to cure him of the virus that is killing him. The end of the Doom Saga reveals his Heel–Face Turn was faked and he is still plotting to rule the world.
  • Badass Normal: He is a genius scientist and an expert schemer. Diana considers him dangerous even though he doesn't have any powers.
  • Big Bad: Of the Doom Saga, as the mastermind behind most of the supervillain activity throughout the arc.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He wouldn't be Lex Luthor if he weren't. He puts on a good public facade but in private he is a cruel Abusive Parent.
  • The Chessmaster:
    • Of course. It's implied his apparent Heel–Face Turn was part of a longer-running scheme where he was using his good publicity. In the Saiyan Saga, he waits until Vegeta appears completely unstoppable before intervening with a Kill Sat he had designed to counter Kakarot's ability to turn into the Great Ape.
    • Provides a spaceship to allow the main characters to search for the Emotional Entities, making it clear he hoped Kakarot dies in the search. He appears prepared for the possibility Kakarot is alive, but regardless, he was able to use the good publicity he had built up from his supposed Heel–Face Turn and aid against the Saiyans to aid a campaign to become president. By the end of the Super Saiyan Saga, he's been elected and sworn into office.
  • The Comically Serious: He invites Kakarot to the White House in episode 5 of the Doom Saga, it's impossible not to be this. On top of this he also sees Cassandra Cain to use a smoke bomb to escape a press confrence, and states he wishes he thought of it.
  • Composite Character: Of himself and Superman off all people. When acting as a superhero he used "Superman" as his alias, he has history Manchester Black, a Superman villain, and even defeats him the same way Superman did in "What's So Funny About Truth Justice and the American Way?", albiet much more brutally.
  • Crazy-Prepared:
    • Built a Kill Sat that counteracted the Blutz Waves that allowed a Saiyan to transform into a Great Ape. It nearly stops Vegeta until the Mother Box in his armor supplies Blutz Waves to maintain his form.
    • He keeps armor to defend himself incase someone attacks him.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • When he's attacked by a team of villains assembled by Manchester Black in the Doom Saga. Grundy is on the verge of killing him, and Luther spits a number of nanomachines into him that control Grundy's body and forces the zombie to rip himself apart. He waited before doing this implying he could have done it anytime he wishes.
    • Right after he dons his Powered Armor, working with Gohan he easily defeats the Superman Revenge Squad.
  • Disappointed in You: Over Superboy scoring an "A minus" on a quiz, after it was implied he only got one question wrong.
  • Evil All Along: At the end of the Doom Saga, it's revealed his Heel–Face Turn was faked: he's still out to Take Over the World.
  • Evil Is Not a Toy: Played With, the Doom Saga reveals Lex pointed a suicidal Joker at the deviating from Luthor’s plans Injustice League and provided Joker with nanotechnology to help. He was not expecting the Joker use the resources to brainwash several villains into cooking up a potential planetary extinction event. The played with aspect being the heroes ultimately saved the world and the end result lines up with Luthor’s goals.
  • Fantastic Racism: Refers to Vegeta as an it while arguing he deserves to die. Though he is on oddly friendly terms with Kakarot.
  • Fiction 500: Owns most newspapers in America.
  • Foil: To Piccolo in Dragon Ball Canon, both of them start out as a notable enemy of Goku-Kakarot pre Saiyan arrival, end up in an Enemy Mine when faced with greater cosmic threats arriving and play a vital role in the narrative of Gohan with Piccolo as the boys teacher and Lex as his creator-coparent. The difference between the two is Piccolo steadily pulled a genuine Heel–Face Turn over time and his relationship with Gohan was a truly positive thing. Lex by contrast is revealed via the Doom Saga to have largely “faked” his change of heart, is planning to Take Over the World still and his relationship with Gohan consistently reveals the darker aspects of his personality via his Abusive Parent antics and Kick the Dog outbursts.
  • Genius Bruiser: He's a genius scientist, and has a suit of Powered Armor that lets him fight on the level of a Super Saiyan.
  • Insufferable Genius: Implied to be this when he's not putting a show for the public seeing as Gohan makes a point of praising Luthor's intellect.
  • Irony: After his supposed Heel–Face Turn, he acted as a hero under the alias Superman. This version of Lex Luthor, Superman's Arch-Enemy, calls himself Superman.
  • Jerkass: Regardless of whether or not Luther is an evil person, he is definately not a nice one. He is very cruel to Gohan when he doesn't preform to his standards and doesn't shy from using lethal force.
  • Jerk Ass Has A Point: When quizzing Superboy on disasters, including damage after a fight, he states that he should not secure civillains, but secure buildings since the police can save civillains. Only he has the strength to save buildings. Callus, but he is right that Superboy has the strength to secure buildings.
  • Kick the Dog: He kills Subjekt 17 as Gohan was talking to him and the two formed a connection. Then he kicked the dead body while boasting that this is the fate that awaits all of his enemies. Gohan, who saw Luthor as a hero, is stunned by the show of brutality.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Outside of the Origins Saga, Luthor has almost no comedic moments to him and any episode he appears in emphasis what a jerk he is. Even when he fought alongside the heroes in the Doom Saga, he mercilessly kills enemies with no hesistation.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Tells Gohan he is giving up on him in order to give an emotional shock that will allow him to draw on enough of his strength to free himself from the Parasite. Naturally he doesn't care about the pain the boy went through as a result.
  • Noodle Incident: When he sees Manchester Black assemble a "Superman Revenge Squad" he quips that Black has done that in the past.
  • Screw the Rules, I Make Them!: Implied when he's attacked in the Doom Saga. Luthor is president of the United States of America and appears to use that as a pretext to kill his enemies.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Provides the heroes with space ships to look for the Emotional Entities. Regardless of whether or not they succeed, they will be out of his way for the foreseeable future. This allowed him to launch his presidential campaign.

Supporting Antagonists

    Raditz

Raditz

Kakarot's older brother who was off planet during their homeworld's destruction. Before Rogal Zaar could finish the job on the surviving three he was pulled to Apokolips by Darkseid.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: He was raised in Granny Goodness' Orphanage of Fear, who frequently denied him food, especially when he called out for his younger brother to come and save him.
  • Adaptational Badass: Apart from defeating a much stronger Kakarot than in canon, Raditz in canon was used as a measuring stick for how strong Nappa and Vegeta were. Here there is no statement that Raditz is weaker than Nappa.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Unlike his canon counterpart he mourns for the death of his family when he sees Planet Vegeta destroyed. He becomes the monster he is from canon thanks to Granny Goddness' torture driving him to hate his own brother.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: Rejects Kakarot's offer of leaving Darkseid before failing to kill his brother with a suicide attack. Kakarot laments his brother is too far gone to be saved.
  • Anime Hair: Spiky hair that is almost as long as he is tall.
  • Back from the Dead: Is revived by Kyle Rayner at the end of the Entity Saga.
  • Being Tortured Makes You Evil: Granted he wasn't a good person to start with, but spending his childhood tortured by Granny Goodness caused him to grow envious of his brother escaping to a comfortable life on Earth while he endured a living hell on Apokolips. The envy became hate, which caused him to fall on the path to becoming a loyal servant of Darkseid.
  • Cain and Abel: The Cain to Kakarot's Abel, but even worse than in canon. Years of torture from Granny Goodness caused him to grow envious of his younger brother for having a better life on Earth. Rather than simply looking down on his brother, he flat out despised him, and was looking forward to killing him on Earth.
  • Co-Dragons: With Nappa to Vegeta.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Nearly murders Kakarot right after meeting on Earth. He only survives thanks to Hal Jordan's intervention, and he's killed by Raditz shortly afterwords.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Inevitable since he was killed by Piccolo in canon. After seeing he can't take Kakarot, Raditz attempts to kill him with a self destruct attack.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Being brought up by Granny Goodness eventually caused him to grow envious and despise his younger brother for getting sent off to a better world while he suffered a living hell.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He did love his family and mourned his parents when he saw Planet Vegeta destroyed.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Reveals to Kakarot that he's his brother.
  • More than Mind Control: Have been broken by torture and raised on Apokolips he is fanatically devoted to Darkseid.
  • Redemption Rejection: Kakarot tries to convince Raditz to give up serving Darkseid, but Raditz is too heavily indoctrinated to listen.
  • The Worf Effect: Is quickly established as a powerful foe, nearly killing his brother, easily killing Hal Jordan, and it taking the combined efforts of Martian Manhunter and the Flash just to slow him down. But then he ends up demonstrating just how strong Kakarot was after learning to use his Wrath State.

    Nappa

Nappa

An older retainer who served Vegeta as a team with Raditz. After being taken to Apokolips by Darkseid he was forced to serve as a gladiator.

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Thanks to being a slave to Darkseid. When Aquaman asks him where his pride is, Nappa somberly states he had it beaten out of him.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: After being subject to the Lasso of Truth he actually suggest to Vegeta that the Saiyans can leave Darkseid's service. Vegeta then kills him.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: His death is a somber moment as he tries to suggest to Vegeta that they can leave the service of Darkseid, and is killed for it.
  • Back from the Dead: Is revived by Kyle Rayner at the end of the Entity Saga.
  • Bald of Evil: The only Saiyan to be bald instead of having crazy hair.
  • Co-Dragons: With Raditz to Vegeta.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Devastates Aquaman and Hawkgirl, taking the arm off the former before Batman's intervention.
  • Redemption Equals Death: After he's subjected to the Lasso of Truth he starts to consider life outside of service to Darkseid. Vegeta kills Nappa, stating he was worthless.

    All Yang

All Yang

The Evil Twin of Kakarot's kind master I-Ching who embodies the concept of Yang and seels to manipulate the Saiyan to his own ends.

  • Composite Character: Takes King Kai's role as the mentor who tried Kakarot to face the Saiyans.
  • Evil Mentor: Tried to this Kakarot but his attempts to manipulate him into following him were unsuccessful.
  • Evil Twin: To I-Ching.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Saw that he wasn't going to be able to manipulate Kakarot and gave up, deciding to look for another pawn.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: His attempt to manipulate Kakarot with offers of power gives Kakarot the power needed to turn the tide against the Saiyans.

    Mongul

Mongul

The dictator of War World, who keeps the populace entertained with Gladiator Games.

  • 0% Approval Rating: After Kakarot defeats Mongul, the crowd as his collosium is cheering for the dictator's death.
  • Genius Bruiser: He's powerful, but he's no fool. He points to Paragus that their physical punishments on Broly don't actually hurt him, and realizing how dangerous Kakarot is he uses the Black Mercy on him.
  • Jerkass: He's a brutal tyrant who delights in other people's pain.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Flash and Mera don't have the time to dethrone him so they leave his planet after obtaining the Butcher. When Kakarot returns, Mongul finally gets dethroned.
  • Knight of Cerebus: The Entity Saga starts off as a mostly fun MacGuffin hunt with the heroes easily finding the Entities. Then he shows up.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: Is noted to be extremely powerful, to the point where Paragus is terrified of him, but he's nothing next to Broly and the Butcher. By the time Kakarot shows up to the planet, he's also out of Mongul's league. Mongul even hurts his foot kicking Kakarot in the head.
  • Sadist: He relishes in the pain Kakarot having to escape the black mercy.

    Paragus

Paragus

An older Saiyan and the father Broly.

  • Abusive Parent: Worse than in canon, he flat out threatens to murder Broly for defying him and Mongul. Up until his Jerkass Realization.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Paragus in canon was an Abusive Parent but there were moments where it was shown he loved his son. Here he openly threatens to kill Broly for defying Mongul. Averted after his Jerkass Realization which causes him to make a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In part thanks to him being Spared by the Adaptation. After Kakarot convinces Broly to spare his life, Paragus realizes how he had been following the words of the failed King Vegeta even while serving under Mongul. It's enough for him to admit Broly deserved better than how Paragus treated him.
  • Bait the Dog: Broly obeys Mongul due to the dictator holding his father hostage. Flash rescues Paragus, only to find out that he had been living in a life of luxury under Mongul's rule and berates Broly for rebelling against Mongul. Though like his canon counterpart he does have a Hidden Heart of Gold.
  • The Dragon: To Mongul.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Is shocked when Kakarot talks Broly out of killing him. Paragus had always believed the Super Saiyan was a being who lived for war, and Kakarot was doing the exact opposite. Even after he realizes he was still following the ways of King Vegeta, he initially says Broly deserves to rule until his son states he doesn't want that.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After his Heel Realization.
  • Heel Realization: Seeing Kakarot, the Super Saiyan, convince Broly to spare him, he realizes how he had been following the failed ways of King Vegeta even under Mongul's rule, despite wanting his freedom. Seeing that he admitted Broly deserved better than serving him.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Despite setting up for him to be killed by Broly, Kakarot convinces him to spare his father.

    Sinestro

Sinestro

An enemy sealed away by the Green Lantern Crop. Allied with Rogul Zaar, he escapes to aid him against the surviving Saiyans.

  • The Bad Guy Wins: While he's defeated by Kyle Rayner, he nonetheless escaped his prison.
  • The Dragon: Acts as this to Rogal Zaar in the Entity Saga. The two appear to consider each other friends but Rogal Zaar is clearly the one who has the power between them and Sinestro won't dare defy him.
  • Fallen Hero: He's a former Green Lantern who went bad.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Sends out a distress call to lure Batman, Kyle Rayner and Kakarot to dead end while using Kyle's compatibility with the power of fear, and influenced Batman into an argument by whispers playing on his fears, letting them use Kyle's ring to restore their power and use it escape through its connection to the central power battery. This turned out to have a secondary purpose of luring Kakarot to a planet where Rogal Zaar was waiting.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Is initially sealed inside the Green Power Battery along with Parrallax before he manipulates Kyle Rayner into allowing his escape.
  • Villain of Another Story: He's a dangerous criminal sealed away by the Green Lantern prior to the series.

    The Injustice Gang

The Injustice Gang

A large group of supervillains who formed for the purpose of killing Vegeta.

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Invoked in universe. Supposedly they formed because they all felt Vegeta deserved to die. Wonder Woman doesn't buy it, especially given they are invading a sovereign nation.
  • Blob Monster: Tarpit.
  • Bullying a Dragon: They came to Themyscria to kill Vegeta. When he does intervene in their fight with Wonder Woman and the rest of the Amazons he quickly demonstrates that this was a terrible idea as he almost single handedly defeats the gang, only being stopped because his desire to kill causes his armor to restrain him too point he can barely move.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Or so they claim. Giganta states they formed because Vegeta is too dangerous to be allowed to live. Diana doesn't buy it.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: Only Giganta gets dialogue, the rest of the villains simply exist as henchmen brought by her to kill Vegeta.
  • Giant Woman: Giganta.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: El Flamingo eats his enemies' faces.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Giganta retreats when the rest of the gang is defeated, knowing she can't defeat Wonder Woman on her own.
  • Large and in Charge: They are a gang of criminals formed and led by Giganta, a villain whose power is turn into a giant.
  • Mind Rape: Hector Hammond subjects Vegeta this, tormenting him with his fears of Darkseid.
  • My Brain Is Big: Hector Hammond, whose head is bigger than the rest of his body.
  • Shock and Awe: Livewire.
  • Villain of Another Story: They are all supervillains who have battled heroes in the past before forming to kill Vegeta. Giganta is specifically shown to be an enemy of Wonder Woman.

    Deathstroke

Deathstroke

A mercenary hired alongside the Parasite and Major Force. After seeing Major Force beaten by Gohan, he gives up without a fight.

  • Adaptational Wimp: Downplayed. He's not presenting as weaker than his comic incarnation, but his response to seeing a foe too strong for him is to simply give up and beg for mercy. Deathstroke in the comics has sometimes held his own against much stronger enemies if he has the right weapons, but this series has stronger characters being able to Speed Blitz weaker ones so it's made clear regardless of what weapons he has, he doesn't have the speed to pose a threat.
  • The Comically Serious: He's presented as a serious threat until he sees how outclassed his against Gohan and begs for his life.
  • Composite Character: Takes up the role of Tao as a mercanary who Kakarot fought and defeated in his youth, and when he meets Gohan he panics after seeing how he has no chance of beating the young Super Saiyan.
  • Informed Ability: Is made out to be a formidable fighter, but he's up against a Super Saiyan so he gives up without a fight.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: Deathstroke in the comics is one of the most dangerous mercenaries in the DC universe. But here he finds himself up against an enemy who Speed Blitz a being superpowers and realizes he has no chance of victory.
  • The Team Normal: Is the only villain of the trio Gohan encounters who doesn't have any powers. Deconstructed since having no powers means he has no hope of beating a Super Saiyan.

    Major Force

Major Force

A villain who was hired to work with Parasite and Deathstroke.

    The Parasite

The Parasite

A supervillain who feeds on energy hired to work with Deathstroke and Major Force.

  • Horror Hunger: Constantly seeks to feed on the energy of anybody around him, and doesn't care who it's free, even his own teammates. Feeding on Gohan's energy was the first time he was ever full.
  • Knight of Cerebus: The Doom Saga's opening episode starts off with a lighthearted outing as Gohan appears to flatten the first supervillains he comes across. But then the Parasite proves too much for him.
  • Logical Weakness: He needs to touch someone to drain their strength, which allows Kakarot to defeat him by using his pole and send him flying into orbit where the energy he drained will run out.
  • Power Parasite: Doesn't have any innate abilities beyond feeding on energy but there is almost no limit on how much he can take in.
  • Strong, but Unskilled: Feeding off Gohan's energy makes far more powerful than Kakarot, but his lack of skill in using it means Kakarot still bests him.
  • Vampiric Draining: Takes the power from anything he touches, or touches him.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: Gohan easily defeats Major Force and Deathstroke in his first outing, but his lack of experience shows when he fails to defeat the Parasite.

    The Riddler

The Riddler

A criminal in Gotham with a focus on Riddles.

  • Overshadowed by Awesome: He is geniunally clever, but doesn't have any powers. The only reason he's not immediatly taken down when he appears is because he has Titano and Godspeed backing him up.
  • Riddle Me This: Naturally, he is the Trope Namer.
  • Smug Snake: He wouldn't be the Riddler otherwise. He is obviously a genius but still can't resist leaving a riddle that gives away his entire plan.

    Titano

Titano

A giant gorilla aiding the Riddler.

  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: He is a giant age.
  • The Brute: Acts as muscle for the Riddler, with Godspeed as The Dragon.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: He's a giant ape and doesn't speak. He exists as an obstacle and serves no purpose beyond that. Luckily the fight with him has plenty of fun banter between Gohan and Damien to compensate.
  • King Kong Copy: Lampshaded with the narrator pointing how him climbing Wayne Tower is a moment lifted straight out of King Kong.

    Godspeed

Godspeed

An evil speedster aiding the Riddler.

  • Anti-Villain: Godspeed doesn't care for Riddler's plans, he is helping him attack Wayne Tower because he feels is ridiculous for Damian, a child, to inherient and run Wayne Enterprises.
  • Dragon-in-Chief: Riddler is the de facto leader between him, Titano, and Godspeed, but Godspeed is easily the most dangerous of the three villains.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Riddler doesn't pose a threat on his own and the fight with Titano has plenty of fun banter between Damian and Gohan. Scenes with Godspeed however are played dead serious.
  • Lightning Bruiser: He is an Evil Counterpart to the Flash, and is even faster than Kakarot.
  • Rogues' Gallery Transplant: He's a Flash villain, who is opposing a team up of the Saiyans and the Batfamily. On top of this, Godspeed in the comics was a villain associated with Barry Allen, who in this series is stated to have died.
  • Villain Has a Point: Rightly point out how it is ludicrous to leave a multi-national corporation in the hands of a child. His hatred for Kakarot is Fantastic Racism but he does rightly point out that even though Kakarot worked to bring back the people killed by the Saiyans, the physical damage wasn't undone so they were left homeless.

    Atomic Skull and Metallo

Atomic Skull and Metallo

Two supervillains who fought Kakarot in the past.

  • Affably Evil: Metallo is just as polite to Kakarot as Kakarot is in return, despite trying to kill him.
  • Battle Couple: The two are villains who are married.
  • Fusion Dance: Metallo forming armor around Atomic Skull allows the latter to serve as a power source for the former, while the former's armored body protects the latter.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: Kakarot compares them to this, but it turns out they actually are married.
  • Logical Weakness: Their above mentioned Fusion Dance suffers from the two of them struggling to work together.

    Black Adam

Black Adam

An extremely powerful king who uses similar powers granted by the gods to Shazam.

  • Authority Equals Asskicking: He's a king whose powers let him match Vegeta and even hold out despite him being a Super Saiyan.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: He's a ruthless king and described as "homicidal" but when he sees that his fight with Vegeta is putting his country in danger and the only thing keeping his people alive is Wonder Woman, he gives up.
  • Flying Brick: His powers grant him super speed and flight.
  • Mirror Character: Of Vegeta. Both of them egotists who think highly of their own status as royalty and belittle the other. Black Adam mocks Vegeta for ruling over a kindgom that no longer exists, while Vegeta responds that Black Adam rules a kingdom of sand. Unlike Vegeta however, Black Adam does actually care for his subjects.
  • Pet the Dog: Seeing that his people are terrorified of him thanks to the destruction caused by his battle with Vegeta, he gives up.
  • Smug Super: He has an ego rivalling Vegeta's.

    Superman Revenge Squad

Superman Revenge Squad

A team of supervillains who Lex Luthor has defeated in the past, who all teamed up to kill him.

  • Alas, Poor Villain: Subjekt 17. Gohan tells him that he can let go of his past, and 17 realizes that the two of them aren't so different. Then 17 is killed by Luthor.
  • An Ice Person: Killer Frost, a villain with ice powers.
  • Asshole Victim: Luthor defeated Manchester Black by firing lasers through his eyes and into his brain, lobotomizing him and leaving him in a vegetative state. The result demonstrated how brutal Luthor is but there is no denying Manchester had it coming as he is a sadistic murderer.
  • Composite Character: Manchester Black mind controls Kakarot's unconscious body, referring to himself as "Kakarot Black." In essence, he is the series version of Goku Black.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Manchester Black, though his wit is used more to show what a jerk he is rather than for comedy.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Subjekt 17 hates humans for torturing and using him as a weapon, but has no desire to fight aliens who haven't done anything to him. He nearly stops fighting Kakarot, even though he's trying to stop him from killing Luthor, until Manchester Black convinces him that Kakarot has been living a life of luxury thanks to humans so he is a traitor aliens. When Gohan tries to stop him, 17 tries to talk him out of stopping him, saying he only wants to kill Luthor and has no desire to kill another alien.
  • Evil Brit: Manchester Black, seeing as he is British.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Count Vertigo's power throws people off balance. That doesn't sound like much, but he combines his efforts with Manchester Black on Kakarot in his fight with Subjekt 17, suffering from Vertigo quickly proves to be deadly.
  • Make Some Noise: Silver Banshee. Aside from her screams she can create copies made of sounds that are visually impossible to tell from the real her. Too bad for her Gohan managed to detect the real her.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: Chesire, The Team Normal. She has no powers and doesn't even come as impressive for a Team Normal since she's beaten easily by Cassandra.
  • The Team Normal: Cheshire is an assassin with no powers, and is beaten by Cassandra with a single blow.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Subjekt 17 has the physical strength to match the Super Saiyans, but lacks their skills. If Kakarot weren't suffering from a virus and hit with Count Vertigo's powers, he wouldn't have posed nearly as much of a threat.
  • Villain Has a Point: Gohan tries to talk Subjekt 17 out of trying to kill Luthor saying Luthor is a hero. 17 responds by pointing out that Luthor beat him and sent him back to his torturers.

    The Joker

The Joker

The Clown Prince of Crime and Arch-Enemy of Batman-Bruce Wayne. Apart from the odd mention and a brief cameo he plays largely no role in the story until the later part of the Doom Saga where it's revealed that the Joker has not taken Batman dying in the Entity Saga at all well and is now more Ax-Crazy than ever with big plans and a new interest in Vegeta.

  • Arch-Enemy: Was this to the First Batman when he was alive and claims he wants to be this to Vegeta.
  • Ax-Crazy: YES. It's The Joker and this version has gone even more off the deep end than normal post Batman-Bruce dying.
  • Berserk Button: Dick Grayson taking the mantle of Batman has become this for him, he spends the entirety of his appearance being the usual Joker flavor of comedy and Faux Affable Evil right up to the point he hears Dick describe himself as Batman, que the Joker exploding into a near foaming at the mouth rage as he pummels Dick and screams that he is *not* Batman.
  • Brainwashed And Axe Crazy: Does this to a number of superheroes and villains, throwing them at Vegeta as part of his plan.
  • Cool Versus Awesome: It's the Joker going up against Vegeta.
  • Death Seeker: Has become this after Batman passes with part of his ultimate plan being to goad Vegeta into killing him. He succeeds in this effort .
  • Eviler than Thou: The Legion of Doom want to use Poison Ivy and a bent to her will Mogo to mindcontrol humanity so they can rule the world, The Joker sabotaged their plan to try and kill everyone on the planet.
  • Evil Versus Evil: His confrontation with Vegeta can be seen as this as the Joker remains himself and Vegeta is ...... Vegeta. Yes Vegeta has evolved from the Card-Carrying Villain he was upon arriving on Earth but's still a long way from anything traditionally heroic what with the Blood Knight mindset, refraining from killing enemies purely because he doesn't want to deal with Wonder Woman's vocal disapproval, general Lack of Empathy and planning to kill Big Good Kakarot once he's not weakened by disease.
  • Killed Off for Real: Vegeta rips his head off at the end of their confrontation.
  • Knight of Cerebus: The Doom Saga already had some dark topics and storylines but the Joker is part and parcel to some of the worst in the arc.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Subverted in regards to Dick Grayson as the Second Batman, Joker flatly refuses to consider Dick worthy of the Bat mantle and has no interest in playing the same 'game' he did re Bruce with Dick. The Joker claims he is contemplating making Vegeta a replacement for Batman as his Arch-Enemy but's its ultimately revealed that this is just lie to distract the heroes from the real plan to create an extinction event for humanity, as far as the Joker is concerned no one and nothing can replace the original Batman.
  • Retired Monster: Admits to Dick Grayson-Batman that he seriously considered becoming this by just giving up being an active supervillain and going to ground after learning of Bruce Wayne-Batman's death in the Entity Saga, but decided to instead give one last hurrah.
  • Taking You with Me: Its revealed that the Joker wants to pull this on the entire human race, he doesn't want to live in a world without Batman and has decided to drag everyone down with him.

  • Foil: To Chichi of all people, both of them are female martial artists who met Goku-Kakarot when he was young and who as an adult he has a relationship with. But where as Chichi gave up on martial arts to be a full time house wife and mother, Shiva remains dedicated to fighting and rather than formally marrying him has remained in a Dating Catwoman dynamic. Also Chichi was a direct presence in the lives of her children by Goku while Shiva is an Absent Parent at best to Cassandra who Kakarot adopts as his daughter.
  • Insistent Terminology: As she corrects Kakarot, she does not 'hurt' people for money, she *kills* people for money.
  • Pet the Dog: Agrees to look after the Kent Family farm while Kakarot is off planet and keeps this, though she's not above burying bodies on the grounds.
  • Ship Tease: Her dynamic with Kakarot in a nutshell. The Doom Saga confirms they have slept together in the past, with Cassandra Cain outright wondering if Kakarot could be her actual father though he states that things with Shiva didn't progress that far until well after the point Cassandra was born.
