    General
  • Abusive Parents: Several of them had abusive birth parents and/or Parental Substitutes growing up, which is why Moon Ray decided to adopt them — he wants to give them the love they were denied as children.
  • Adopting the Abused: Many Liberi Lunae members prior to their adoption were victims of various types of abuse, including psychological and sexual abuse. Moon Ray decided to adopt them because, as an abuse victim himself, he understood their pain and wanted to give them the love he didn't have growing up.
  • Alliterative Name: Liberi Lunae.
  • Badass Family: Many members of the Liberi Lunae are deities, whether Ascendant or full-blooded ones. Other members are mortal heroes like Edel Vaughoof of the Angel's Six.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Despite knowing of his flaws, all of the Liberi Lunae see and treat Moon Ray/Tunglið as the best father they ever had because he genuinely loves them like his own children. Even after Moon Ray re-Ascended as an eldritch god, they still love him as much as they did before the re-Ascension. Dissonant Tune in particular idolizes Moon Ray. When Moon Ray was kidnapped and tortured by Silk Dawn during the "Silk Dawn Crisis", he was rescued by a few of Silk Dawn's children he adopted prior, saving his life.
  • Crossover Relatives: This is the Liberi Lunae's relationship with the Serenum Pueri, as multiple members of both groups are expies of various non-MLP characters and their respective adoptive/biological fathers are brothers, making them cousins.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Many of Moon Ray/Tunglið's adoptive children went through various hardships in their youth, whether thanks to Abusive Parents, being orphaned, and/or just living a hard life in general.
  • Family of Choice: All of them genuinely see themselves as Moon Ray's children for various reasons, usually due to Abusive Parents or being orphaned with no one else to turn to. It helps that Moon Ray/Tunglið tries to be a good father to them despite his flaws.
  • Freudian Excuse: Deconstructed. Many Liberi Lunae members' worst flaws came from things like growing up in broken homes and/or suffering a lot of hardships prior to being adopted. However, like their adoptive parents, they each came to realize that they can overcome their pasts, and take steps in recovering and becoming better people.
  • God of Evil: A few of the Liberi Lunae, like Dissonant Tune, Voľná Láska, and Dìyù Shēnghuó, are deities who embody either "evil" concepts or the evil aspects of "good" concepts — Dìyù Shēnghuó is unique in that he's also the living darker side of the same person. It's subverted as they follow 'Constructive Evil' and commit evils to test mortals.
  • Happily Adopted: Many members of the Liberi Lunae were adopted, usually from abusive families, though others were also orphaned or spirits of children who died young.
  • Hates Their Parent: Justified; many Liberi Lunae members were victims of familial abuse, usually by their birth parents, so naturally they hate their parents for it — even disowning them as family if the abuse was bad enough. However, many end up realizing thanks to Moon Ray that it's ultimately unhealthy to hold a grudge, so they forgive their parents to rob them of any power they have on them.
  • Heel–Face Turn: A few Liberi Lunae members were children of Silk Dawn who betrayed her for being a narcissistic, abusive monster. When Moon Ray was kidnapped and horrifically tortured by Silk Dawn, they came to his aid and attacked their birth mother so Moon Ray could be rescued and healed.
  • Hybrid Power: Two Liberi Lunae members, Dissonant Tune and Meli’āki, are hybrids and thus have unique abilities that come from their heritage. Dissonant Tune is a Dhampyr Alicorn with vampiric powers (and weaknesses) inherited from his birth father, War Rock, while Meli’āki is an Abyssinian/Dragon hybrid whose combined traits allow her to perform feats of holy magic with even her flame breath.
  • Interspecies Adoption: Many Liberi Lunae members come from different species and were adopted by Moon Ray/Tunglið, mostly due to having Abusive Parents or being orphaned. This doesn't make their love for their adoptive father any less, however.
  • Meaningful Name: Liberi means "children" and Lunae means "moon" in Latin. All members listed here are adoptive/biological children of a god named Moon Ray Vaughoof (now King Tunglið Hreinsar Innlausn-Heimdrasil).
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: A few Liberi Lunae members, like Meli’āki and some of Silk Dawn's children, were previously villains who worked under a much worse villain who constantly abused them. Upon meeting Moon Ray/Tunglið and his wife, Velvet Heart/Amare, they pulled a Heel–Face Turn because the two showed them true kindness that they never experienced before. This played an important part in the "Silk Dawn Crisis" — when Moon Ray/Tunglið was kidnapped and tortured by Silk Dawn for being the living embodiment of the natural cycle, several of Silk Dawn's own children came to his aid, disowning Silk Dawn as their mother and attacking her so their adoptive father could be rescued and healed.
  • Physical God: Many of Moon Ray/Tunglið's children are ancient deities with incredible power, but are still corporeal enough to safely interact with mortals. Some of them, like Dissonant Tune and Voľná Láska, are examples of Ascendant deities.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Several Liberi Lunae members were either born into royalty, were given royal titles upon Ascending to godhood, had experience in ruling a designated territory, or all of the above. Others were also Adopted into Royalty since Moon Ray/Tunglið is a Prince-turned-King. Said members are also ancient, powerful deities who can handle themselves in a fight.
  • Seers: Much like Moon Ray/Tunglið, who is a powerful Seer himself, many of the Liberi Lunae have precognitive powers to varying degrees, whether through being born natural precogs prior to their Ascension, having a form of precognition as part of their domains, or both.
  • Undead Child: Some Liberi Lunae members were spirits of children who either died young or died before they were even born, and 'grew up' in the afterlife.
  • Winged Unicorn: Some Liberi Lunae members are either full-blooded Alicorns or Alicorn hybrids, like Prince Dissonant Tune, who is an Alicorn Dhampyr due to his birth father, War Rock, being a Pony Vampire at the time of his birth.

    Blood Moon, the (WIP Title)

Classification: Ethereal

Portfolio: Death, Addiction, Abuse, Redemption

Rank: Divine (Tier I/Godling)

Blue Diadem, the Light of Peace

Classification: Ethereal/Elemental

Portfolio: Primordial Light, Water, Sorrow, Diplomacy

Rank: Preeminent

Affiliation: Liberi Lunae (main), Coronan Pantheon

"Back before Rose and Father came into my life, I suffered horribly. I wanted everyone to feel the pain I felt. Through them, I realized I must make up for my awful behavior by bringing joy to others."

Blue Diadem (her entry here) is the goddess of Primordial Light, Water, Sorrow, and Diplomacy, and is an adoptive member of the Liberi Lunae.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Many aspects of Blue Diamond's canon personality, such as her demure behavior and her fearful apprehension towards White Diamond, is explained here as the direct consequence of enduring horrific abuse and indoctrination at the hooves of both her mother, Silk Dawn, and her oldest sister, White Corona. She also suffered trauma from the times she was mind-controlled by White Corona, refusing to forgive her sister for it for a long time, and had a Mortality Phobia due to not knowing what really happens to deities when they die.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: In Steven Universe, it's not known where Blue Diamond came from or what her early life was like. Here, she was born the third-oldest daughter of Silk Dawn, who created her from White Corona's capacity for guilt and sorrow. For much of her life, she was horribly abused and indoctrinated by her mother to fulfill a traditionally feminine role that was in line with her empathetic nature, turning her into a horrible ruler and an abuser herself. Like Blue Diamond, she was betrayed by their half-sister, Rose Regalia, who openly rebelled against her and later seemingly died, except she and Yellow Barding were brainwashed by White Corona into killing her out of spite. This act left her deeply depressed, but also incredibly self-centered. It's not until Rose Regalia, who survived, confronted her honestly on her actions that she realized how horrible of a person she became much earlier than Blue Diamond did in canon, and turned into The Atoner. She would also befriend Moon Ray Vaughoof, who not only helped her overcome her worst flaws, but also adopted her as his daughter.
  • Adaptational Badass: Blue Diamond is a Diamond, the Gem equivalent of a Physical God, with unique powers like both reverse empathy and energy manipulation, though she was Unskilled, but Strong. Here, Blue Diadem is an ancient goddess and the most magically talented spellcaster of her older/younger sisters, her Codex entry outright labeling her as an "Archmage". She helped defeat White Corona (the Expy of White Diamond) and combined her power with her sisters' to make White Corona "regrow" the capacity for anger and sorrow that Silk Dawn cut out. During her conflicts with Rose Regalia, Blue Diadem was The Spymaster who led a sprawling network of agents to try sabotage her younger half-sister's growing rebellion, the Crystal Warriors. She also possesses a spiritual and magical link that drastically increases her powers when in close proximity to Yellow Barding and, to a lesser extent, White Corona, which was absent in canon.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Unlike Blue Diamond, Blue Diadem pulled a Heel–Face Turn and became The Atoner much earlier thanks to factors like Rose Regalia's survival and choosing to be honest with others instead of weaving a complicated masquerade. The Diamonds' "Corrupting Light" attack also happened because Blue Diadem and Yellow Barding were mind-controlled by White Corona into helping her unleash it with intent to kill Rose Regalia for her rebellion, whereas in canon, Blue Diamond did it willingly to avenge Pink Diamond's shattering. Having a positive influence in Moon Ray Vaughoof helped her overcome her worst flaws even further.
  • Adaptational Skill: Unlike Blue Diamond, she has taken up painting as one of her hobbies thanks to Moon Ray/Tunglið's influence.
  • Adaptation Name Change: Blue Diamond is changed to Blue Diadem here.
  • Adaptation Species Change: In Steven Universe, Blue Diamond is... well, a Diamond. Here, she's a divine, bird-like Cosmic Entity made of light who can change herself into a Unicorn or an Alicorn so she could interact with mortals better.
  • Adopted into Royalty: Played with. She was once a member of the Radiant Tetrarchy that ruled over the Coronan Imperium, but then lost her status following the Corona Imperium's destruction in the Imperium Era. Then Moon Ray Vaughoof (who was a Prince at the time) adopts her after his re-Ascension out of desire to give her the love that Silk Dawn never showed her. However, she is technically royalty by virtue of being a biological granddaughter of a Grand Primeval (specifically Urun, the Light Primeval), and she attends Moon Ray's coronation when he is crowned King by the Grand Primevals themselves.
  • Age Lift: Blue Diamond is implied to be thousands of years old in canon. Blue Diadem, however, is a "Preeminent"-ranked goddess, which puts her between 10 million to 100 million years old.
  • Always Identical Twins: Averted. She is the younger fraternal twin sister of Yellow Barding, having been born from White Corona's capacity to feel guilt and sorrow. And unlike Yellow Barding, who is a ruthless, warmongering goddess who embodies Wrath, Lightning, and Military, she's a demure, refined, and soft-spoken goddess who embodies Water, Sorrow, and Diplomacy.
  • Ambadassador: As a co-ruler of the Coronan Imperium, she oversaw the Coronan Imperium's diplomats and court systems, and convinced many nations, realms, and civilizations to submit to the Coronan Imperium's authority. Countless Ages later, after co-founding the Coronan Republic, her role didn't change much, except she became the benevolent patron goddess of the Coronan Republic's diplomats and personally oversees the reconciliation of hostile nations. As the third-oldest of Silk Dawn's children, she's an extremely powerful and ancient goddess who, even without using her powers, is so strong that she was able to break one of Rose Regalia's divinely-made swords with her own bare hooves in a past fight with her. And of the four of them, she's the most magically powerful, with her powers coming from her focusing on the magical aspects of her domains. For bonus points, she's a goddess of Diplomacy which gives her supernatural charisma and negotiation skills, among other things.
  • Animalistic Abomination:
    • Her default divine form is an Alicorn goddess with a mane and tail made of rippling water (with some of it draping around her neck and shoulders in a loop), a wing gradient going from azure-blue to alice-blue, and a halo made of light. The "Preeminent" version of this form is even more eldritch, with traits like a multi-layered halo of primordial light, ten wings with sparkling, diamond-like feathers, and a mane and tail displaying images of all moments in history where creatures felt sorrow over being wronged, only to make peace with others later on.
    • Her true divine form is an ancient, dove-like entity made of light with a watery body, a sparkling, diamond-like sheen, and blue diamonds that line her body and wings like jewelry. Because this form can be unnerving and incomprehensible to many, she generally sticks to her Pony forms.
  • Animal Motifs: She's heavily associated with doves, as her true divine form resembles a dove and one of her domains is Diplomacy, making her a patron goddess of diplomats and ambassadors. It's double-subverted; while the most diplomatic member of the Radiant Tetrarchy, she was a horrible ruler to her own subjects and, for many eons, was emotionally abusive even to her own sisters. She was also a loyal follower and believer in Silk Dawn's twisted standards of perfection, no matter how much pain it caused herself and others. Once she is confronted honestly on her actions by Rose Regalia and learns of Silk Dawn's Assimilation Plot, she pulls a Heel–Face Turn, having realized her actions were completely immoral. By the time she co-founds the Coronan Republic, she has become a completely benevolent goddess, overseeing the diplomatic reconciliation of hostile nations and promoting mental health among her subjects.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: She's marginally younger than her older fraternal twin sister, Yellow Barding, but during the Imperium Era, she frequently clashed with the latter over how to handle Rose Regalia's "death", with her tormenting Yellow Barding with her Emotion Bomb powers under the assumption that Yellow Barding didn't care about her pain. Once Moon Ray Vaughoof got her to see that doing this was wrong, she realized that she treated Yellow Barding horribly and apologized to her for it.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She's a goddess who embodies Primordial Light, Water, Sorrow, and Diplomacy. On the other hand, she's also White Corona's capacity for guilt and sorrow given form.
  • The Archmage: Of Silk Dawn's four oldest daughters, Blue Diadem is the one who is the most skilled in spellcasting and bears the strongest capacity for magic. Many applications of her domains focus on their magical aspects; while emotion manipulation and energy blasts are part of the list, she can cast various other spells through her domains, like creating portals and illusions, summoning tidal waves and floods, healing injuries, and purifying dark magic. Furthering her power is her Magic Staff, which she uses to channel her powers through and cast greater spells. Her entry even labels her an "Archmage" and notes that as a goddess of Water, she's even more powerful than her adoptive father, Moon Ray Vaughoof, had been back when he was a Water god, both due to divine aging and having more experience than him.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance:
    • When appearing as a mortal Unicorn or an Alicorn goddess, she has a Cutie Mark depicting a large eye weeping a blue, teardrop-shaped diamond that's flanked by two smaller ones, with one on each side. This not only refers to her being a goddess of Sorrow, but also her melancholic personality and her being the living embodiment of White Corona's capacity for guilt and sorrow.
    • Other traits of hers include a mane made of rippling water that drapes around her shoulders and neck in a loop, her sad, droopy eyes, and her outfits including dark blue cloaks, robes, and gowns. This evokes the image of her being in perpetual mourning, especially over Rose Regalia's "death".
    • Her looping, watery hairstyle also evokes the Vicious Cycle of abuse and suffering she and her sisters were stuck in — whether by their own actions or the acions of others. In particular, Blue Diadem would lash out at people who tried to help her move on from her grief, before going back to feeling sorry for herself once she realizes what she did and restart the cycle.
  • The Atoner: After being confronted honestly by Rose Regalia, she realizes that she had acted immorally and that Silk Dawn is a monster who never cared for her, Rose Regalia, or any of their siblings. She sides with Rose Regalia, and after helping her younger half-sister make Yellow Barding and White Corona see the error of their ways, she proceeded to first deal with many threats of the Imperium Era, then travel the world during the Known Ages to connect with the mortals she and her family once mistreated. And thanks to Moon Ray Vaughoof, she realizes how she previously treated Yellow Barding was wrong as well, and she apologized to them for her abuse.
  • Ax-Crazy: Downplayed. While she's generally quite demure and reserved, her horrifically abusive upbringing and indoctrination left her emotionally unstable, being prone to fits of anger and lashing out at people when provoked. This worsened after being mind-controlled by White Corona into killing their younger half-sister, Rose Regalia — unable to handle the sheer guilt or grieve properly, she started using her Emotion Bomb powers as a way to shift blame onto others, usually Yellow Barding, whom she assumed harbored Lack of Empathy towards her own suffering. This behavior later stops once she gets called out on it by Rose Regalia and, later, Moon Ray Vaughoof, forcing her to realize how bad she became and turn good. Moon Ray serving as her therapist also helps her become more emotionally stable.
  • Badass Cape: She frequently wore elegant, dark blue cloaks as part of her traditionally feminine image, and she's an incredibly ancient goddess who is The Archmage of the four sisters, being skillled in wielding the magical aspects of her domains and wielding a Magic Staff to help her cast greater spells. While she's a Squishy Wizard by divine standards, she's still strong enough that, even in her Alicorn form, she broke one of Rose Regalia's swords with her own bare hooves in a past fight, despite said sword being a divinely-made artifact. After her Heel–Face Turn, she fought against her mother, Silk Dawn, as one of the heavy-hitters during the "Silk Dawn Crisis". She has taken to wearing modern, if still feminine outfits following her Heel–Face Turn and Silk Dawn's death, however.
  • Bad Boss: Deconstructed. During her time as a member of the Coronan Imperium's ruling Radiant Tetrarchy, she was a staunch traditionalist who hated any deviances from the status quo, as well as a bad-tempered goddess who reacted to small mistakes with Disproportionate Retribution. This was due to both Silk Dawn and White Corona indoctrinating her to see mortalkind as inferior, imperfect creatures. One prominent example was her treatment of Ruby Guardian, a lowly bodyguard she tried to executed for daring to pursue an interclass relationship with one of her court Seers, Sapphire Seer, causing both of them to defect and join Rose Regalia's Crystal Warriors. This continues until the Imperium Era onward after Rose Regalia makes her realize she had behaved immorally towards her mortal subjects and change. By the time she co-founds the Coronan Republic, she is the complete opposite of what she used to be, notably encouraging her subjects to think for themselves rather than oppressing them.
  • Barrier Warrior: As a goddess of Primordial Light and Water, she can create barriers made of her respective elements.
  • Beam Spam: Like Blue Diamond, she has the ability to form energy spheres that fire beams... except here, her beams are made of light as opposed to pure energy like in canon, as she is a goddess of Primordial Light.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: Of the trio she forms with Yellow Barding and White Corona, she fills the "Beauty" part of the trope — she is the most emotional and traditionally feminine of the three, possesses a skillset and divine portfolio that revolves around emotion and magic, and is a diplomat who also happens to be a goddess of Diplomacy. Even after her Heel–Face Turn, she still fulfills this role, but in a more positive way as she broke free of Silk Dawn's indoctrination.
  • Beauty Equals Goodness: She's extremely beautiful in both her Pony forms and her true divine form. Following her Heel–Face Turn, she became a genuinely benevolent and empathetic goddess who truly sees all life as precious and accepts the natural cycle as an ultimately important part of the world. When she co-founded the Coronan Republic with her sisters, she oversaw the reconciliation of hostile nations, encouraged her mortal subjects to think for themselves, and promoted mental health. She also helped fight Silk Dawn during the "Silk Dawn Crisis", as her age and power gave her a much better chance in opposing her abusive, wicked mother.
  • Beauty Is Bad: Like Rose Regalia, she's an extremely beautiful goddess in both her Pony forms and her true divine form. However, thanks to both Silk Dawn and White Corona's abuse and indoctrionation, she became an emotional abuser who used her Sorrow domain to guilt-trip others into feeling bad, a staunch traditionalist who hated deviances from the status quo, and a bad-tempered co-ruler of the Coronan Imperium who reacted to small mistakes with Disproportionate Retribution. Then there's how she treated Rose Regalia before the latter's Heel–Face Turn. Fortunately, thanks to Rose Regalia and later, Moon Ray Vaughoof, she realizes how she behaved previously was immoral and became good as well.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Post-Heel–Face Turn, she became a genuinely benevolent, empathetic goddess who sees all life as precious like her adoptive father, and believes in promoting proper mental health care. However, she's an extremely powerful and ancient goddess, and of Silk Dawn's four oldest daughters, she's the one with the strongest spellcasting ability to the point where her entry outright calls her The Archmage. And one of her most feared abilities is her emotion-bombing, which, considering her divine age, is so powerful that it can reduce entire pantheons to sobbing wrecks.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Despite being demure, soft-spoken, and refined, she's an ancient and powerful goddess who happens to be the strongest spellcaster out of her and her three older/younger sisters. And prior to her Heel–Face Turn, she was an emotionally abusive person with a Hair-Trigger Temper and a tendency to shift blame onto others, whether by subjecting them to her Emotion Bomb powers or delivering Disproportionate Retribution for small mistakes. While she has since redeemed herself for her actions, she hasn't lost her edge in battle and helped fight her abusive mother, Silk Dawn, in the "Silk Dawn Crisis".
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Much like what Blue Diamond did with Steven Universe, Blue Diadem furiously shouts, "THAT'S ENOUGH!" in response to Rose Regalia continuously refusing to toe the line, even outright attacking her younger half-sister with her powers. This leads to Rose Regalia honestly confronting her on her actions, leading to Blue Diadem's Heel Realization and Heel–Face Turn shortly after.
  • Big Sister Bully: Similarly to Blue Diamond, she emotionally abused her younger half-sister, Rose Regalia, by berating her for not acting like a "perfect" goddess and imprisoning her whenever she thought Rose Regalia stepped out of line. She also stood by as Silk Dawn and White Corona abused Rose Regalia, despite knowing it was wrong, and resented her for being Silk Dawn's favorite child. At the same time, she spoiled her half-sister rotten, enabling her worst flaws. This contributed to Rose Regalia becoming an immature, Spoiled Brat who demanded attention from her family yet resented their mistreatment of her. It's later averted when she is confronted honestly on her actions by Rose Regalia, who by then had already done a Heel–Face Turn, forcing her to realize she treated her own sisters terribly and change.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Averted. She always knew deep down that her family's abusive treatment of each other was wrong, but years of being abused and indoctrinated by Silk Dawn and White Corona left her too fearful, submissive, and browbeaten to do anything. Even while Rose Regalia, whom she was closest to, was being abused, she only stood by and in fact contributed to the abuse herself. Eventually, Rose Regalia calls her out on it, forcing her to realize how bad she became and influencing her to make amends for her ways.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Pun aside, she's a goddess whose name is Blue Diadem and is heavily associated with blue. Once she is honestly confronted by Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof on her actions, she makes a Heel–Face Turn and becomes a benevolent goddess. Notably, she became a prominent ally and one of the heroic forces' heavy-hitters during the "Silk Dawn Crisis", as being closer to Silk Dawn in power, age, and experience gave her a much better chance in opposing her abusive mother. After co-founding the Coronan Republic with her sisters, she becomes a patron goddess of diplomats and therapists, promoting diplomatic reconciliation and mental health.
  • Break the Haughty: In her youth, she was a bad-tempered, tyrannical ruler and a staunch traditionalist who harshly punished her subjects for the smallest mistakes and slightest deviations from her and her sisters' policies. She also had Condescending Compassion, viewing all mortals as pitiful beings waiting to be "cured" of their flaws. After Rose Regalia's "death", she became an emotional wreck unable to move on from what happened, though she also becomes increasingly emotionally abusive in the process as she used her empathy powers to lash out at Yellow Barding constantly while ignoring her own culpability. Being confronted on her actions by Rose Regalia and learning the truth of Silk Dawn's plans pushed her to betray their mother, while Moon Ray's positive influence Ages later helped cement her changes further.
  • Broken Bird: Beneath her queenly, refined demeanor is a very broken goddess who was not only White Corona's capacity for guilt and sorrow given form, but was also horribly abused and indoctrinated by both her biological mother and older sister for years until she followed their twisted standards of perfection. This overlapped with Break the Haughty as she later became an abuser herself after her younger half-sister, Rose Regalia was born, as being betrayed by the latter and then later being mind-controlled by White Corona into killing her half-sister sent her into a deep, Ages-long depression. Even after learning that Rose Regalia survived, the abuse she suffered from her own family left her with psychological scars that took a long time for her to recover from.
  • Bystander Syndrome: Deconstructed. Because of her emotionally sensitive nature, she was indoctrinated by Silk Dawn to be a demure, refined, and yet completely passive goddess who always obeyed her mother without question. This led to her either standing by as her older/younger sisters were abused by Silk Dawn and White Corona, or participating in the abuse herself in her own way. She is later called out on it by Rose Regalia, who pointed out that everyone, including her, knew how badly they hurt each other thanks to Silk Dawn and White Corona, yet they contributed to the problem by ignoring it and focusing on obeying their mother. This pushed her to betray Silk Dawn and become The Atoner.
  • Cain and Abel:
    • She, Yellow Barding, and White Corona became the "Cain" to Rose Regalia's "Abel" when the latter betrayed her family in opposition to their horrific practices and beliefs. In her case, she led a sprawling network of agents to counter the Crystal Warriors, Rose Regalia's rebellion. This culminated in her and Yellow Barding being mind-controlled by White Corona to help her launch a devastating, light-based attack for the sole purpose of killing Rose Regalia outright, not caring for the amount of people who would be obliterated or injured by it. She was so traumatized by the ordeal that she fell into a deep depression for many years.
    • Later, after learning the truth of Silk Dawn's plans and being confronted honestly on her actions by Rose Regalia, she pulls a Heel–Face Turn, becoming the "Abel" to Yellow Barding and White Corona's "Cain". This didn't last long — Yellow Barding quickly sided with them once she realized Silk Dawn never cared for any of them, while White Corona only had a change of heart after she "regrew" the emotions Silk Dawn ripped out of her, forcing White Corona to feel remorse for every single thing she did to her younger sisters and mortal subjects.
  • Calling Parents by Their Name: At one point, Blue Diadem initially refers to Silk Dawn as her mother before quickly correcting herself and calling Silk Dawn by name. It's justified as Silk Dawn was a horrible monster who lost the right to be her mother a long time ago.
  • Calling the Old Woman Out: While rescuing Moon Ray/Tunglið from Silk Dawn's clutches, she is confronted over her apparent betrayal by Silk Dawn herself, who tries to guilt-trip her for it. Her response is to disown Silk Dawn as her mother, call her a "flawed, abusive monster", and demand that Silk Dawn leave her father alone. It also counts as a Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu? moment as Silk Dawn is an eldritch goddess who is vastly powerful on account of her age and heritage as a Fallen daughter of a Grand Primeval.
  • Condescending Compassion: Deconstructed. She used to be a lot kinder to others in a non-condescending way, but years of indoctrination and abuse from Silk Dawn and White Corona warped her natural empathy until she started seeing mortal sapientkind as terminally ill patients who are constantly suffering from their supposed "imperfections". This led to her enabling Silk Dawn's abuse and plans, as well as becoming a horrible ruler to her own mortal subjects. The positive influence of Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof later caused her to realize that the attitudes she held were immoral, pushing her to atone for her sins and connect with the same mortals she abused.
  • Cool Aunt: She, Yellow Barding, and White Corona would become loving, doting aunts to Starry Universe, who is Rose Regalia's young demi-divine son through her mortal husband, Watchful Universe.
  • Cool Big Sis: Subverted. She saw herself as one to her younger half-sister, Rose Regalia, whom she was very close to. Unfortunately, despite this, Silk Dawn and White Corona's abuse made her as abusive as them, leading to her not only helping turn Rose Regalia into a Spoiled Brat, but also emotionally abusing her herself and standing by as Rose Regalia was abused in turn by both Silk Dawn and White Corona. She later realizes that she was wrong to mistreat Rose Regalia the way she did after being confronted on it by the latter, pushing her to finally side with Rose Regalia over their mother and redeem herself.
  • Cosmic Entity: Her true divine form is an ancient, dove-like entity made of light, with a watery body, a sparkling, diamond-like sheen, and blue diamonds that line her body and wings like jewelry. This comes from how she was created — a missing trait of White Corona (specifically, her capacity to feel sorrow and guilt) that Silk Dawn cut off and fashioned into a living goddess that would fit said trait more — as well as how her grandmother, Urun, the Light Primeval, is a Cosmic Entity herself. Because her true form can be unnerving to many she generally sticks to her Pony forms.
  • Crossover Relatives:
    • Blue Diadem (Blue Diamond) is the third-oldest daughter of Silk Dawn (Ragyō Kiryūin), with a twist — Blue Diadem was created from certain traits that Silk Dawn removed from her own firstborn daughter, White Corona (White Diamond), in an attempt to fix the latter's "imperfections". This makes her a much older half-sister of May Shore (Satsuki Kiryūin) and Wandering Child (Ryūko Matoi).
    • Following her adoption by Moon Ray/Tunglið, Blue Diadem would become the adoptive sister of Meli’āki (Gatomon) and Princess Voľná Láska (Mariska), respectively. This also makes her related to the entire Trimortidae, making her a great-granddaughter of Obitus Equus, a Composite Character of both Onyx Prime and Discworld's Death.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Like Yellow Barding, Blue Diadem was created from Silk Dawn's experiments on White Corona, being born from White Corona's missing capacity for guilt and sorrow. She was subjected to horrific abuse and indoctrination growing up, and when she and her sisters founded the Coronan Imperium, Blue Diadem became a tyrannical, harsh, and bad-tempered ruler. Then Rose Regalia, Blue Diadem's younger half-sister, betrayed their family, the wars against each other culminating in White Corona mind-controlling Blue Diadem and Yellow Barding into helping her kill off Rose Regalia for her rebellion. Traumatized by her action, Blue Diadem became a grieving wreck obsessed with Rose Regalia's memory, in the process becoming emotionally abusive to everyone around her, including Yellow Barding. Fortunately, Rose Regalia actually survived, and the ensuing confrontation between them forces Blue Diadem to realize how bad their family became and her role in part of it, pushing her to become The Atoner.
  • Dark Is Evil: Though a goddess of Primordial Light, Blue Diadem wore elegant, dark-blue robes, gowns, and cloaks as part of her indoctrination by Silk Dawn to adopt a tradtionally feminine role among her sisters. And thanks to that indoctrination, she became an emotionaly abusive person and a horrible ruler who enabled both her mother's ambitions and her family's dysfunctional aspects. She also held Condescending Compassion towards mortalkind, seeing them as terminally ill patients waiting to be cured of their "imperfections". Fortunately, thanks to Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof, she realizes her behavior was immoral and started changing herself for the better.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Though still wearing dark clothes at the time, Blue Diadem becomes a case of this following her Heel–Face Turn, atoning for her sins and helping many younger deities and heroes fight her abusive mother in the "Silk Dawn Crisis". However, Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof's positive influences does lead to her becoming more cheerful and carefree, and she has taken to wearing modern, if still feminine outfits.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: Her standing up to Silk Dawn and calling her out on her abuse, just to save her adoptive father from her, also counts as this as Silk Dawn is both 100+ million years old and an ancient, eldritch goddess who outranks even her oldest daughters in terms of sheer power.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Her willingness to directly fight her abusive mother, Silk Dawn, during the "Silk Dawn Crisis" has shades of this because Silk Dawn is an ancient, "Primeval"-ranked Eldritch Abomination who existed since the dawn of Equusian sapientkind. Notably, when she helped rescue Moon Ray/Tunglið from Silk Dawn's clutches, she called her mother a "flawed, abusive monster" to her face despite knowing Silk Dawn's rage over being reminded that she herself is flawed, which made it clear that she now sees Moon Ray/Tunglið as her true parent and father. This is helped by her being a "Preeminent"-ranked goddess, giving her a better chance at fighting the more powerful Silk Dawn compared to younger deities like Rose Regalia, an "Antecedent"-ranked goddess.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Deconstructed. As co-ruler of the Coronan Imperium, Blue Diadem had a nasty temper and was quick to punish deviations from the status quo, ordering Ruby Guardian's execution for falling in love with a member of her court and imprisoning Rose Regalia for minor offenses when not bending the rules for her. This led to Rose Regalia, Ruby Guardian, and Sapphire Seer betraying her. Later, Rose Regalia confronting her honestly on her actions caused Blue Diadem to realize what a horrible person she became, making her resolve to become a better person.
  • Divine Parentage: Blue Diadem is Silk Dawn's third-oldest daughter via being her oldest sister White Corona's guilt and remorse given form (with Blue Diadem's twin sister, Yellow Barding, being the second-oldest), making her a granddaughter of Urun, the Light Primeval. After pulling a Heel–Face Turn, she met Moon Ray Vaughoof, who would later adopt her as his daughter, giving Blue Diadem a loving adoptive mother in Moon Ray's wife, Velvet Heart Vaughoof, who herself would Ascend to godhood sometime after her husband's re-Ascension.
  • Doves Mean Peace: Blue Diadem is a goddess of Diplomacy and her true divine form resembles a dove, but it was horribly subverted at first as she was loyal to Silk Dawn's will and used her powers to sway people to submit to the Coronan Imperium's authority out of Condescending Compassion. She was also emotionally abusive to her own sisters thanks to Silk Dawn's abuse, and her actions contributed to Rose Regalia's betrayal. But once Rose Regalia honestly confronted her on her actions and revealed the truth of Silk Dawn's plans, Blue Diadem betrayed Silk Dawn and became a better person. She now serves as a benevolent patron goddess of diplomats, playing the trope straight.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: At one point, Blue Diadem misinterpreted Rose Regalia's pleas for her sisters to stop abusing their mortal subjects as her wanting "pets", so she put several mortals in specialized zoos as a gift for her. While not a direct cause, this gross misunderstanding became one of many contributing factors in Rose Regalia's betrayal.
  • The Dreaded: Pre-Heel–Face Turn, Blue Diadem had a feared reputation for her Emotion Bomb abilities because she can reduce entire pantheons to sobbing wrecks and trap them in emotional anguish indefinitely. By the present day, however, this doesn't apply anymore as thanks to Moon Ray Vaughoof, she learned to use her empathy for good.
  • Due to the Dead: After Rose Regalia's "death", Blue Diadem became so depressed that she mourned her half-sister and obsessively hoarded anything that reminded her of Rose. While she kept it private from White Corona, she nonetheless refused to move on and in the process became incredibly self-centered, using her Emotion Bomb powers on people like Yellow Barding to "punish" them for their perceived Lack of Empathy towards her losses. Being honestly confronted on her actions by Rose Regalia and, later, Moon Ray Vaughoof forced her to realize her error, and she resolved to make amends with those she hurt.
  • The Eeyore: While being a goddess of Sorrow is part of it, a combination of horrific abuse and guilt over being forced to kill her own half-sister left Blue Diadem an emotional wreck. She spent much of the Imperium Era in excessive mourning, dealing with her older sisters' No Sympathy and lashing out at anyone who angered her with her Emotion Bomb powers. This created a Vicious Cycle that persisted up until Rose Regalia, who turned out to have survived, confronts Blue Diadem on her actions and makes her realize how bad she and her family had become. Moon Ray Vaughoof later helped her grieve in healthier ways, and she becomes more open, cheerful, and carefree.
  • Elemental Embodiment: Blue Diadem is a goddess who embodies Primordial Light and Water, giving her the appropriate powers.
  • Elemental Speed: As a goddess of Primordial Light, Blue Diadem can move at light-speed similarly to what Rose Regalia can do.
  • Emotion Bomb: As a goddess of Sorrow, she can magically project sorrow onto others. Her power is so feared In-Universe because she is strong enough to reduce entire pantheons to sobbing wrecks and prolong their emotional anguish indefinitely. She also used her powers to shift blame for her own mistakes onto others, as what happened to Yellow Barding (and, implicitly, Rose Regalia), especially after Rose Regalia's "death". Thanks to Moon Ray Vaughoof, she realizes using her power in that way is wrong, prompting her to apologize to Yellow Barding for how she treated her before.
  • The Empath: As a goddess of Sorrow and Diplomacy, Blue Diadem has empathic powers. This makes her a good therapist and diplomat, as she can detect people's sorrow and help alleviate whatever is preventing them from getting along. Her domain of Sorrow in particular also gives her the ability to Emotion Bomb people with sorrow, though since her Heel–Face Turn, she has gained more positive powers like creating water that alleviates sorrow in those who drink it.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Blue Diadem was devastated by Rose Regalia's betrayal and spent the "Twilight of the Alicorns" fighting her alongside her older sisters. It's not until the Imperium Era that Rose Regalia confronts her honestly on her actions, allowing her to finally understand why her half-sister betrayed the family and then do the same.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She was rather close to Rose Regalia, her younger half-sister, and was devastated when the latter decided to betray their mother. After White Corona mind-controlled her into attempting to kill off Rose Regalia and the Crystal Warriors with a Fantastic Nuke, she was so wracked with guilt and grief that she fell into a depression that she never really recovered from. It's gradually deconstructed — despite her closeness to Rose Regalia, she was emotionally abusive to the latter and enabled her worst traits, in part turning Rose Regalia into a Spoiled Brat. She also stood by as Rose Regalia was abused by both Silk Dawn and White Corona, despite knowing it was morally wrong. If anything, she's part of the reason Rose Regalia decided to pull a Heel–Face Turn. She eventually realizes the error of her ways when Rose Regalia, who survived White Corona's attack, confronts her honestly on her abusive behavior, pushing her to change.
  • Excessive Mourning: She was so traumatized over "killing" her own half-sister, Rose Regalia, with the equivalent of a divine, light-based nuke (and the fact that she and Yellow Barding were outright brainwashed by White Corona into doing it) that she fell into a deep depression, mourning Rose Regalia's "death" and hoarding any reminders of her. She also deveoped a Mortality Phobia and became quite clingy out of fear of losing another family member. White Corona's callous browbeating of her for crying over the loss of an "imperfection" didn't help, either. But while she kept it private out of fear of White Corona's response, she wallowed in her own grief so much that she became quite self-centered, often getting into arguments with Yellow Barding (who also grieved but with anger and denial) and emotionally abusing her twin sister via Emotion Bomb. She snaps out of it once she discovers that Rose Regalia truly survived, and Moon Ray Vaughoof's positive influence later on makes her realize just how horrible she was to Yellow Barding and apologize to her.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: Blue Diadem is described as having dark circles underneath her eyes due to her abusive upbringing and especially her Excessive Mourning of Rose Regalia's "death".
  • Fantastic Nuke: When Blue Diadem combined her powers with Yellow Barding's and White Corona's to kill off Rose Regalia and the Crystal Warriors, she unleashed a devastating light-based attack that was essentially the divine version of a nuclear bomb — all life within the affected area was obliterated, with the survivors ((including many Coronan soldiers who were at ground zero) being left with horrible injuries. Blue Diadem was so traumatized by what she did (mostly because she was mind-controlled by White Corona into helping with the attack) that she fell into a depression for millennia. Later, the damage would be reversed once Rose Regalia convinced her, Yellow Barding, and White Corona to combine with their powers with hers as a method of reconciliation, creating a World-Healing Wave.
  • Fatal Flaw: Sloth and Wrath. A lifetime of indoctrination and abuse left Blue Diadem extremely reluctant to act despite knowing the immorality of her family's actions towards each other and everyone else. When Rose Regalia "died", she grieved her half-sister's memory and did little else. She also felt deeply bitter and resentful under her composed, regal demeanor, and over time developed a bad temper that made her lash out at the slightest grievances. Worse, as an empath, Blue Diadem would torture anyone who provoked her ire by forcing them to feel her emotional pain, so not even her own siblings were safe. She even admits in her entry quote that she wanted to make everyone feel the pain she felt due to her horrific upbringing. Thanks to Rose Regalia and later Moon Ray, she came to realize she was wrong to act the way she did, and she made great efforts in controlling her temper.
  • Forgiveness: Defied at first. Blue Diadem initially refused to forgive White Corona for the latter's role in her abusive indoctrination growing up, as well as using mind-control on her and Yellow Barding to force them to do whatever she wanted. However, restoring White Corona's lost emotions (specifically, her capacity for guilt and anger) caused her to realize that her oldest sister was as much a victim of their mother, Silk Dawn, as she and Yellow Barding were. While it took a long time, she eventually forgave White Corona.
  • A Form You Are Comfortable With: Because Blue Diadem is so old, with her true divine form being unnerving and incomprehensible to many, she generally appears as either a Unicorn mare or an Alicorn goddess.
  • Five Stages of Grief: Much like Blue Diamond, she was stuck in the "Bargaining" and "Depression" stages following Rose Regalia's "death" — She felt so guilty over her role in it (despite having been mind-controlled by White Corona into helping her with killing their half-sister) that she wallowed in her own grief for many years, refusing to move on for fear she would forget Rose Regalia's memory. She also obsessively hoarded anything that reminded her of her half-sister. Whenever Yellow Barding tried to help in her own way, she fell into the "Anger" stage because Yellow Barding wanted her to forget about Rose Regalia completely, and punished her older twin sister's supposed Lack of Empathy by emotion-bombing her. Once it's discovered Rose Regalia survived, she moved to "Denial", trying to make Rose Regalia return to her pre-Heel–Face Turn self so things could return to normal for them. This results in Rose Regalia confronting her honestly on her actions, moving her to the "Acceptance" stage as she finally realizes how bad their family became thanks to Silk Dawn and White Corona's toxic influence and becomes The Atoner.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling:
    • Blue Diadem was initially the "Responsible Sibling" to Rose Regalia's "Foolish", being a dutiful daughter who was extremely submissive to Silk Dawn's will while Rose Regalia was a spoiled, immature brat who frequently demanded attention from her family. However, it's noted that Blue Diadem herself contributed to Rose Regalia's brattiness by alternating between spoiling her rotten and emotionally abusing her whenever Rose Regalia failed to live up to their mother's high standards of perfection. After Rose Regalia's Heel–Face Turn, the roles are reversed — Blue Diadem didn't understand why her younger half-sister would betray their family and stayed loyal to Silk Dawn, while Rose Regalia came to value life and see the harm her mother and sisters were inflicting upon everyone. Eventually, she herself joined Rose Regalia's side after being confronted honestly on her own actions and realizing the error of her ways.
    • Following Rose Regalia's "death", Blue Diadem was the "Foolish Sibling" to Yellow Barding's "Responsible". Unlike Yellow Barding, who tried focusing on ruling the Coronan Imperium by psychologically repressing her own memories of Rose Regalia, Blue Diadem grieved to the point of obsessively hoarding any reminders of Rose Regalia and lashing out at anyone she thought had Lack of Empathy towards her loss. This led to her and Yellow Barding having a toxic relationship where she would Emotion Bomb the latter in response to her twin trying to make her move on. It's not until Blue Diadem meets Moon Ray Vaughoof that she realizes how she treated Yellow Barding was wrong, prompting her to go apologize to her sister.
  • Founder of the Kingdom: Alongside her sisters Yellow Barding, Rose Regalia, and White Corona, she co-founded the Coronan Imperium during pre-Known History, which they ruled together as the Radiant Tetrarchy. Unfortunately, like Homeworld, it was horribly oppressive to anyone living there. After the Coronan Imperium fell in the Imperium Era, she, Yellow Barding, and White Corona co-founded the more democratic Coronan Republic.
  • Freudian Excuse: Many of her worst flaws and behaviors, including her Hair-Trigger Temper, her Never My Fault tendencies, and her hyper-emotional sensitivity stem from the extremely horrific abuse she received from both Silk Dawn and White Corona. However, as both Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof pointed out, what she went through still doesn't justify her actions, as she still chose to become a toxic person who lashed out at her subjects and even her own family. This was prominently shown in her behavior following Rose Regalia's "death", where she became incredibly self-centered and emotionally abusive in her grief to the point of using her empathy to essentially torture her sister, Yellow Barding, for years. Once these things were made clear to her, she is horrified by what she had done and becomes The Atoner to make amends for her actions.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse:
    • She is confronted honestly by Rose Regalia, who points out how they both contributed to their family's abusive, dysfunctional nature by hurting each other, while standing by as either Silk Dawn or White Corona abused them. This causes her to have a My God, What Have I Done? moment regarding her own emotionally abusive behavior, which prompts her to side with Rose Regalia.
    • Many years later, she meets Moon Ray Vaughoof, who addressed one of her most prominent flaws — her tendency to blame others while ignoring her own culpability. While what she went through was horrible, it still didn't justify her actions and she became as bad as her abusers by using her empathy powers to make others suffer, whether they really deserved it or not. This causes her to realize how badly she treated Yellow Barding while they were both mourning Rose Regalia's "death", and she goes and apologizes to her twin sister.
  • Gaslighting: As part of her abuse, she was constantly gaslighted by Silk Dawn into obeying her without question, as well as guilt-tripped into feeling bad whenever she thought she had wronged her mother in some way. White Corona, her oldest sister, also contributed to this by demeaning her for empathizing with lesser beings that are fated to die off eventually. Understandably, this left her with deep trust issues long after breaking the cycle of abuse... and unfortunately, the emotional abuse she suffered turned her into an emotional abuser as well, especially towards Rose Regalia, until the latter forced her to realize that her behavior was immoral.
  • Gentle Giant: As a "Preeminent"-ranked goddess, she's pretty huge by divine standards, and this applies to even her Alicorn forms. After her Heel–Face Turn, she became a benevolent, cheerful, and carefree goddess who desires to try all the things Silk Dawn barred her from, and who sees all life as precious. After co-founding the Coronan Republic with her sistesr, she became the patron goddess of diplomats and therapists, promoting mental health among her subjects and encouraging them to think for themselves.
  • Giant Wall of Watery Doom: As a goddess of Water, she can summon tidal waves as a means to attack.
  • God in Human Form: Her true divine form can be incomprehensible and unnerving due to being so old, so she either appears as a mortal Unicorn mare, or as an Alicorn (or the "Preeminent" version of one a la the Thirteen Empyreans).
  • God Is Good: Post-Heel–Face Turn, she became a cheerful and benevolent goddess who sees all life as precious, acknowledges that the natural cycle is necessary for life to thrive, and promotes mental health within the Coronan Republic by becoming a patron goddess of therapists in addtion to diplomats. She also, in stark contrast to the extremely oppressive policies she and her sisters once created, encourages her subjects to think and choose for themselves, having realized that Perfection Is Impossible (among other things).
  • God of Light: Much like her mother and older/younger sisters, she is a goddess who embodies Primordial Light, which is a "purer", more ancient version of Light, making her attacks much stronger than those used by normal Light deities. It's noted that her attacks are strong enough to hurt even her modern counterparts. At first, she counted as an example of Light Is Not Good due to her allegiances with Silk Dawn and her own actions as a ruler, but after realizing the error of her ways and becoming good, she became an example of Light Is Good.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: Of the four sisters, she was the most queenly (thanks to Silk Dawn indoctrinating her to act traditionally feminine) and personally oversaw the Coronan Imperium's diplomats and court systems. However, she was essentially an oppressive tyrant who harshly punished her subjects for small mistakes (as Ruby Guardian and Sapphire Seer learned) and was an emotionally abusive person who shifted blame for her own mistakes onto others, especially with her Sorrow-based powers. She eventually realizes how badly she behaved as a ruler when she is confronted honestly by Rose Regalia, influencing her to atone for her actions. By the time she co-founds the Coronan Republic, she has become The High Queen.
  • Good Is Not Soft: She's presently a benevolent, carefree, and cheerful (if still feminine) goddess who oversees the reconciliation of hostile nations and the promotion of mental health, allowing therapists to live within the Coronan Republic. However, she's still an ancient, powerful goddess who is the strongest spellcaster of her and her three immediate older/younger sisters, and one of her most feared domains is her domain of Sorrow — mostly because it gives her the power to magically inflict emotional anguish onto others and prolong it indefinitely. And during the "Silk Dawn Crisis", she became one of the heavy-hitters in opposing her abusive mother, Silk Dawn, because she is closer to the latter in age, power, and experience, giving her a better chance in fighting Silk Dawn compared to younger deities like Rose Regalia.
  • Good Wings, Evil Wings: A "Multicolored Wings" and "Cluster Wings" example. Her "default" Alicorn form has a wing gradient going from azure-blue to alice-blue (i.e. bluish white), while the "Preeminent" version of her Alicorn form has ten wings with sparkling, diamond-feathers, signifying how old she really is. Her true divine form has a watery body made of light, with diamonds lining her body and wings like jewelry. While she was initially loyal to Silk Dawn, it's only because she was abused and indoctrinated into following her; once she is forced to realize her actions were immoral, she changes for the better and becomes good.
  • Grew a Spine: Due to Silk Dawn's abusive indoctrination, she became quite passive and thus never intervened whenever she witnessed her mother abusing her older/younger sisters despite knowing it was morally wrong. Flash-forward many Ages later, thanks to people like Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof helping her break out of her passivity, she became quite willing to fight Silk Dawn to protect her loved ones and everyone else who's going to be affected by her mother's Assimilation Plot — including Moon Ray himself, who by then had adopted her as one of his daughters. She also tells Silk Dawn to her face that she now sees her as a "flawed, abusive monster", likely knowing that her mother hated being reminded that even she has flaws.
  • Guilt Complex: One of her flaws is that she has a guilt complex over real and perceived mistakes, thinking she deserves to be punished for all of them. While she did genuinely do horrifying things in the past that she now deeply regrets, her feelings of guilt also come from being constantly gaslighted and guilt-tripped by both Silk Dawn and White Corona whenever she thought she had wronged them.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Deconstructed. Thanks to her emotional nature, as well as being abused and indoctrinated for much of her life, she developed a horrible temper that made her prone to lashing out at others for even perceived slights, including her own family. It also made her react badly to deviances from the status quo during her co-rule over the Coronan Imperium, as shown with how she handled Ruby Guardian and Sapphire Seer's interclass relationship. She eventually realizes thanks to Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof that this behavior was immoral, and changes herself for the better.
  • Happily Adopted: After meeting and befriending Moon Ray Vaughoof, she is eventually adopted by him following his re-Ascension. While there were some problems at first due to her negative reaction to Moon Ray's new form (as he embodies the natural cycle Silk Dawn taught her to hate), she came to accept it after Moon Ray explained some things to her, and now she sees him (and his wife Velvet Heart) as her true parents.
  • Hates Being Touched: One of her flaws is that she hated being touched, which came from being sexually abused by both Silk Dawn and White Corona for much of her life. Fortunately, she is receiving therapy for her trauma.
  • Hates Their Parent: She understandably hates her birth mother, Silk Dawn, for abusing her and her older/younger sisters, as well as indoctrinating them into becoming their Unwitting Pawns in her plans to absorb the entire cosmos into herself in the name of perfection. When she confronts Silk Dawn to rescue her adoptive afther, Moon Ray/Tunglið, she disowns her mother by calling her a "flawed, abusive monster".
  • Healing Hands: When combining her domains of Water and Primordial Light together, one of the things she can do is heal people with water.
  • Heal It with Water: As a goddess of Water, she can grant her powers unique properties like healing those who come in contact with them when she combines her domain with her Primordial Light-based powers.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: As a goddess of Sorrow, one of her most feared abilities is her emotion-bombing, something that she shares with her character inspiration, Blue Diamond... except here, due to the changed setting, she is powerful enough that she can reduce entire pantheons to sobbing wrecks, and prolong the effects of her powers idefinitely so her targets are constantly trapped in emotional anguish. She can also empower herself based o how much sorrow is present, and when combining it with her other domains, she gains new abilities like illuminating people's greatest sorrows, literally drowning people in or alleviate sorrow by giving sorrow-absorbent properties to drinking water.
  • Heavenly Blue: Pun aside, her name is Blue Diadem, and she is heavily associated with the color blue, whether in her appearance or her powers (which are colored blue). She's not only related to the Grand Primevals via her mother, Silk Dawn, but she's also a goddess of Primordial Light and Water, which often have religious connotations. Later, she gets adopted by Moon Ray Vaughoof, who previously helped her with her abuse-related trauma and by then had re-Ascended to embody all aspects of the natural cycle itself.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She always knew that what her family was doing to others was wrong, but never acted on her instincts because Silk Dawn and White Corona indoctrinated her into blindly obeying them, causing her to ignore the problem for years and become as abusive as her family. Thanks to Rose Regalia confronting her honestly on her actions, however, she finally realizes how bad she became in the end, pushing her to betray Silk Dawn and become genuinely good.
  • Heel Realization: Like her canon counterpart, she ends up realizing thanks to Rose Regalia confronting her honestly that she was not only a tyrant who abused her mortal subjects, but also a Big Sister Bully who both abused Rose Regalia many times and stood by while Silk Dawn and White Corona abused them and their other siblings. This makes her pull a Heel–Face Turn and betray Silk Dawn.
  • The High Queen: Thanks to Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof's positive influence, by the time she co-founds the Coronan Imperium with her sisters in the Fourth Age, she has become a benevolent goddess who oversees the reconciliation of hostile nations, promotes mental health, and encourages free-thinking among her subjects. While she lets her subjects elect rulers among themselves, she still possesses a degree of queenly authority by virtue of being part of the Coronan Pantheon, where she serves as a patron goddess of diplomats.
  • Holy Halo: Blue Diadem's Alicorn forms have a halo made of light, with the "Preeminent" version having a multi-layered halo made of primordial light. While initially subverted due to her behavior and loyalty to Silk Dawn, she later realizes her mother is a monster and changes her ways.
  • Holy Hand Grenade: As a goddess of Primordial Light, Blue Diadem can cast other light-based spells like purification.
  • Hypocrite: She loved Rose Regalia to the point of spoiling her rotten and constantly bending the rules for her, turning Rose Regalia into a Spoiled Brat. But not only did she resent Rose Regalia for being their mother's favorite, but she's also a bad-tempered Evil Reactionary who responded to any deviances from the status quo with Disproportionate Retribution, such as sentencing Ruby Guardian to die for falling in love with one of her court Seers, and imprisoning Rose Regalia whenever she thought she acted out of line. Thankfully, she comes to realize that her behavior was immoral and changes herself for the better.
  • Identical Twin ID Tag: Averted. She and Yellow Barding are fraternal twin sisters, with her being the younger of the two. They not only contrast each other in appearance, but also in personality, powers, and titles — her title is "the Light of Peace" while Yellow Barding's title is "the Light of War". And whereas she embodies Water, Sorrow, and Diplomacy, Yellow Barding embodies Lightning, Wrath, and Military.
  • Immortality Begins at Twenty: Subverted. Deities in the Codexverse get Stronger with Age; as a "Preeminent"-ranked goddess, Blue Diadem is incredibly eldritch and powerful, being roughly on par with other deities of her age group like the Thirteen Empyreans. However, because her true form — a divine, birdlike Cosmic Entity — is unnerving to even younger deities, she often appears as either a mortal Unicorn or an Alicorn goddess.
  • Improbable Hairstyle: As in canon, Blue Diadem has one — whenever she appears an Alicorn, she has her mane draping around her shoulders and neck in a loop. While her mane is made of water and she could magically change her appearance, it's still quite strange because her mane in this style doesn't have an end.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Blue Diadem is a "Preeminent"-ranked goddess who at one point befriended the much younger Moon Ray Vaughoof, a "Tier IV"-ranked Death god at the time. Moon Ray later bridges the gap by re-Ascending and becoming physically as old as her. He also adopts her as his daughter.
  • Irony: Since becoming good, Blue Diadem started wearing modern if still feminine outfits, many of which were commissioned by her from from Rarity Belle and Princess Bon Bon — a.k.a the same people who would play important roles in the death and eternal damnation of her abusive mother, Silk Dawn.
  • It's All About Me: Deconstructed. A lifetime of horrific abuse from family members and then being forced to kill off her rebellious half-sister left Blue Diadem a psychological wreck, but also extremely self-centered. She constantly wallowed in self-pity, clinging to Rose Regalia's memory while blaming others for her grief and forcing them to feel her pain, only to feel guilt over it and restart the cycle, never truly learning anything from it. This is best represented by her domain of Sorrow, which gives her Emotion Bomb powers similar to her canon counterpart. When Moon Ray Vaughoof brings this up to Blue Diadem, she realizes how horribly she treated Yellow Barding in the years following Rose Regalia's "death", and apologizes to her twin sister for it.
  • It's All My Fault: She blamed herself for Rose Regalia's "death" and her part in killing her, even though White Corona brainwashed her and Yellow Barding into doing so, and grieved for her younger half-sister for Ages. It's deconstructed as grieving for such a long time made her incredibly self-centered, notably using her Emotion Bomb powers on others to "punish" them for not empathizing with her pain and avoid taking responsibility for her own actions. Even Yellow Barding was not safe from it. It took Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof to make her realize that her behavior was immoral regardless of her reasons for it, pushing her to become The Atoner.
  • Jerkass Gods: Justified and deconstructed. A lifetime of horrific emotional and sexual abuse turned Blue Diadem into an abusive person herself; when she became part of the Coronan Imperium's Radient Tetrarchy, she became an oppressive ruler who treated her subjects like slaves and harshly punished them for small mistakes. After Rose Regalia's "death", Blue Diadem became obsessive in her grief and guilt, lashing out at those who tried to help her under the belief they're making her forget her sister's memory. Deep down, she knew her actions were wrong, but fear and indoctrination kept her from truly acting. Thanks to Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof, who both confronted her honestly on her actions, Blue Diadem gains the courage to pull a genuine Heel–Face Turn.
  • Karmic Jackpot: Like Rose Regalia before her, Blue Diadem's choice to betray Silk Dawn and redeem herself for her horrible actions ends up rewarding her. She is free to be her own person and do whatever she wants to do, and is adopted into a family who genuinely loves her, flaws and all.
  • Kick the Dog: As in canon, Blue Diadem was enraged when Ruby Guardian, a lowly bodyguard, dared to break the social hierarchy by falling in with Sapphire Seer, an upper-class Seer from her court, and ordered Ruby Guardian's execution. This led to Ruby Guardian and Sapphire Seer fusing for the first time (which was thanks to Rose Regalia discovering her fusion powers for the first time) and joining the Crystal Warriors as Garnet Gauntlet.
  • Kick the Morality Pet: Despite her closeness to Rose Regalia, Blue Diadem alternated between emotionally abusing her, spoiling her rotten, and letting White Corona and Silk Dawn abuse her as well. As a result, Rose Regalia became a Spoiled Brat until she made a Heel–Face Turn after seeing what genuine love is and realizing the truth of Silk Dawn's plans.
  • Lack of Empathy: Deconstructed. Like Blue Diamond, Blue Diadem represents the It's All About Me and Never My Fault aspects of the trope. She does have empathy and is a sympathetic character overall, but Blue Diadem's guilt toward Rose Regalia's "death" made her emotionally abusive, obsessing over her younger sister's memory while lashing out at anyone who tried to help her move on. She also saw mortals as terminally ill patients waiting for a cure for their supposed "imperfections" and was a Big Sister Bully to Rose Regalia in the past. Fittingly, as a goddess of Sorrow, she has the power to make everyone else as miserable as her. It's later subverted when Rose Regalia confronts Blue Diadem on her past actions, forcing the latter to realize her own culpability in their toxic family situation. Moon Ray Vaughoof helped her redeem herself further by helping her overcome her worst flaws.
  • Lady of Black Magic: Like Blue Diamond, Blue Diadem evokes the image of a classical witch with her regal yet regal gloomy disposition, and her penchant for wearingregal robes and cloaks. Except here, Blue Diadem is the strongest spellcaster of her older/younger sisters, with her canon powers of emotion and energy manipulation being the tip of the iceberg. However, it's subverted as Blue Diadem is both a goddess of Primordial Light and a victim of horrific familial abuse, leaving her with a Hair-Trigger Temper that made her prone to Disproportionate Retribution towards minor slights. Blue Diadem's demure personality was also the result of Silk Dawn's indoctrination, as she is White Corona's sorrow and guilt given form. Fortunately, with Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof's help, she gets better.
  • Large and in Charge: She's a "Preeminent"-ranked goddess, making her pretty huge due to how divine aging works. She was also a co-ruler and co-founder of the Coronan Imperium, though she and her sisters were very oppressive rulers. Ages after the Coronan Imperium's destruction, she, Yellow Barding, and White Corona co-founded the democratic Coronan Republic, with themselves watching over as the Coronan Pantheon while their mortal subjects choose their rulers through elections.
  • Lean and Mean: In contrast to Rose Regalia, whose forms tend to be beautifully pudgy, her forms are described as being traditionally feminine, with slim and curvy figures. She was also a bad-tempered, emotionally abusive goddess prone to lashing out at others — including her own sisters — over both real and perceived slights. She eventually averts it thanks to Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof calling her out on her actions, forcing her to realize she had behaved immorally and that she was wrong to continue following Silk Dawn.
  • Light 'em Up: As a goddess of Primordial Light, she has powers similar to Rose Regalia's, except her powers are blue-colored and she is most skilled in her domain's magical aspects. She can do things like form spheres that either explode on contact or fire beams of light, create light-based portals for travel and guiding attacks, and cast other light-based spells like purification, sealing wards, illusions, transmutation, and Summon Magic. She can form hard-light constructs to fight for her and project a massive aura of blue light that can pierce through darkness-related spells, obliterate hordes of Undead, and illuminate areas for miles. And because she embodies Primordial Light, her powers are stronger compared to normal Light deities and can harm even them.
  • Light Is Good: She's a goddess of Primordial Light with a Holy Halo, and like Blue Diamond, she wore elegant cloaks, robes, and gowns that gave her a regal, almost saintly appearance. She was initially a horrible co-ruler as well as a Troubled Abuser, but after being confronted on her actions by Rose Regalia, she realizes her behavior was immoral and becomes good, doing everything she can to atone for her sins. Meeting Moon Ray Vaughoof, who would later adopt her as one of his children, also helped her curb some of her worst flaws, like her tendency to Emotion Bomb people as a way to guilt-trip them. During the "Silk Dawn Crisis", she became a prominent ally in opposing Silk Dawn, and was one of the heavy-hitters due to being closer to her mother in age, power, and experience.
  • Light Is Not Good: She's a goddess of Primordial Light with a Holy Halo, and like Blue Diamond, she wore elegant cloaks, robes, and gowns that gave her a regal, almost saintly appearance. However, due to a lifetime of abuse and indoctrination, she became not only an emotional abuser herself, but also an oppressive tyrant who treated her mortal subjects like slaves and resources, while executing (or at least harshly) anyone who broke the status quo. Once she's forced to realize that her behavior and actions were wrong, she becomes the second of Silk Dawn's oldest daughters to turn good, and deeply regrets how she acted in the past.
  • Like Mother, Unlike Daughter: After betraying Silk Dawn, she became a benevolent, empathetic goddess who wants to alleviate people's sorrows, sees all life as precious, and accepts the natural cycle as an ultimately important part of the world. Since redeeming herself, she has used her newfound freedom to try on modern hairstyles and outfits, something her mother or her traditionally feminine role wouldn't have allowed. By stark contrast, Silk Dawn is a sociopathic narcissist who saw herself as perfection incarnate, tried destroying the natural cycle due to seeing it as a universial "flaw" to be done away with, and saw everyone around her — including her own children — as fabric to cut and mold as she saw fit.
  • Long Hair Is Feminine: She has an alice-blue (i.e. bluish-white) mane and tail even in her Alicorn forms. Due to her being indoctrinated into acting traditionally feminine, she had her hair long and draping it around her neck and shoulders in a loop. Following her Heel–Face Turn, adoption, and Silk Dawn's death, she started wearing different hairstyles as part of her newfound freedom.
  • Love Redeems: An Imperium-Era confrontation with Rose Regalia forces her to realize that all she did was perpetuate the cycle of abuse and misery, whether among her family or her mortal subjects, because she was too afraid to realize what they were doing was wrong and stand up to Silk Dawn. This prompts her to side with Rose Regalia, having finally accepted how she treated her half-sister before was wrong and that Silk Dawn never cared for any of them.
  • Magic Hair: In her Alicorn forms, she has a mane and tail made of rippling water. Her "Preeminent Alicorn" form additionally shows images of all moments in history where creatures felt sorrow over being wronged, only to make peace with others later on.
  • Magic Staff: Her main weapon is a staff that lets her channel her powers and cast multiple, greater spells.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Light of Peace", due to embodying Diplomacy and overseeing the reconciliation of hostile nations.
  • Making a Splash: As a goddess of Water, she's a powerful water mage and, due to deities getting Stronger with Age, is naturally stronger than Moon Ray/Tunglið when he was a Water god prior to his re-Ascension. Like her adoptive father, she can generate water, walk and/or run on water, turn herself into an entity of pure water, and teleport through bodies of water. At her most powerful, she can summon tidal waves and floods. She can also manifest water magic in other ways like shields, beams, and constructs, and sense and control sources of water even if they're underground. When combined with her domain of Primordial Light, she can create potent illusions and give water unique properties like healing and purifying those who were splashed with it.
  • Master of Illusion: As a goddess of Primordial Light, she can cast light-based illusions. She can also do this when combining her domains of Primordial Light and Water together.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • A diadem is a jeweled headband worn by monarchs as a symbol of their sovereignty. Blue Diadem's namesake item is a fancy diadem inlaid with blue, sparkling diamonds, and she was once both a co-founder of the Coronan Imperium and a member of its ruling Radiant Tetrarchy. It also matches the Family Theme Naming shared with her three immediate older/younger sisters centered around certain pieces of regalia worn by royalty.
    • "Blue" is both a color that she's heavily associated with, and an idiom used to describe feelings of depression and/or sorrow. Blue Diadem is a goddess of Sorrow who, thanks to a combination of Silk Dawn's indoctrination and being mind-controlled by White Corona into killing her half-sister, Rose Regalia, is a hyper-emotional, melancholic person who excessively mourned Rose Regalia's death to the point of becoming an even more emotionally abusive person. Fortunately, Rose Regalia herself and Moon Ray Vaughoof would help her recover and make her see her way of grieving is wrong.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: This happens to her thrice.
    • Blue Diadem was absolutely devastated over being forced to kill Rose Regalia by White Corona, because even though she betrayed them, she was still her beloved younger half-sister. Worse, the only reason why Blue Diadem killed Rose Regalia in the first place is because White Corona mind-controlled both her and her twin sister, Yellow Barding, into helping her perform the deed, then browbeat them both into seeing Rose Regalia as a "flaw" that deserved to die. No wonder Blue Diadem spiraled into an Ages-long depression afterward.
    • This happens again when Blue Diadem confronts Rose Regalia (who turns out to have survived White Corona's attempt to kill her) over her rebelliousness and tries to make her conform. Rose Regalia forces Blue Diadem to realize that she wasn't a good sister as she thought, only a Big Sister Bully who perpetuated the cycle of abuse by either standing by and doing nothing, or participating in the abuse herself. She ends up pulling a genuine Heel–Face Turn and turning against their abusive mother, Silk Dawn.
    • Blue Diadem goes through this again when her friend and father-figure, Moon Ray Vaughoof, shows her how wrong it is for her to guilt-trip people and literally make them suffer for ther supposed wrongdoings by using her Emotion Bomb powers on them. This makes her realize how horrible of a sister she was to Yellow Barding, who bore the brunt of her empathic attacks for years, and she apologized to her twin for mistreating her following Rose Regalia's "death".
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: After Ages of being horribly abused and indoctrinated by Silk Dawn, and doing equally horrible things in her mother's name, she finally betrays Silk Dawn when she learns from Rose Regalia the truth of Silk Dawn's plans, which meant she and her sisters are nothing but Unwitting Pawns. Part of her betrayal also stemmed from realizing how her actions contributed to The Chain of Harm suffered by not only her and her sisters, but also their mortal subjects. When she is confronted by Silk Dawn over it while trying to save Moon Ray/Tunglið from her, she responds by disowning Silk Dawn as her mother and calling her a "monster".
  • Moral Myopia: Her intolerance for any deviances in the status quo, combined with her Hair-Trigger Temper, made her prone to executing or at least harshly punishing those who broke the Coronan Imperium's many social taboos. However, after she was forced by White Corona to murder Rose Regalia by essentially nuking her with a divine, light-based attack, she was devastated to the point of becoming extremely depressed for countless Ages. Fortunately, thanks to Rose Regalia (who survived said attack), she came to realize this way of thinking is wrong and changed for the better.
  • Mortality Phobia: As a consequence of her guilt for "killing" Rose Regalia and not being allowed to properly grieve, she started fearing what happens after death, especially for ancient deities like herself. This makes her adoption by a Death god extremely ironic, but fortunately, Moon Ray/Tunglið likely helped her get over her fears.
  • My Greatest Failure: For many years, she never got over how she helped White Corona kill Rose Regalia, which was worsened by the fact that White Corona outright mind-controlled her and Yellow Barding into doing it. her guilt and grief were so much that she refused to move on, obsessively hoarding any reminders of Rose Regalia and using her Emotion Bomb powers on Yellow Barding frequently to "punish" her twin for (in her mind) her Lack of Empathy towards everything. She snaps out of it once she learns Rose Regalia actually survived, and once she is made aware of all the horrible things she did prior, including how she treated Yellow Barding and Rose Regalia herself, she came to deeply regret them.
  • Never My Fault: Deconstructed. One of her worst flaws is her tendency to shift blame onto others, whether to "punish" them for wrongdoing (in her mind) or to avoid her own pain, flaws, and mistakes (and therefore realizing she is not as "perfect" as she was led to believe). This led to her becoming just as abusive as White Corona and Silk Dawn in an emotional sense, especially after Rose Regalia's "death", where she Emotion Bombed Yellow Barding multiple times under the assumption that her twin sister didn't care about her grief. While Rose Regalia did confront her on it, it's after meeting Moon Ray Vaughoof that she fully realized she was wrong to act this way, since he was teaching her how to grieve properly. She proceeded to apologize to Yellow Barding for how she treated her, and they reconciled.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Her extremely oppressive policies within the Coronan Imperium, and her harsh punishments for even the smallest failures, led to many Coronan citizens defecting to Rose Regalia's rebellion, the Crystal Warriors. Ruby Guardian and her protectorate-turned-lover, Sapphire Seer, are a good example of this, as their extremely close romantic relationship provided the Crystal Warriors a powerful fusion to aid them in their fights against Coronan military forces.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: In her youth, she used to be quite empathetic towards others in a non-condescending way, but that constantly got her demeaned by White Corona, who was annoyed by the fact that she chose to empathize with lesser "organisms" that are fated to die off eventually. It gradually led to her seeing mortal sapientkind as pitiful beings who are suffering from their own imperfections — much like how a doctor sees a patient who is suffering from a terminal illness.
  • Not Afraid of You Anymore: Because of her horribly abusive upbringing, she was terrified of Silk Dawn — specifically, terrified of failing her mother or offending her in any way, as punishments often entailed being "purified" (i.e. molested) afterward. Come the "Silk Dawn Crisis", she not only confronts (and fights) Silk Dawn in order to save her adoptive father, Moon Ray/Tunglið, from her, but also emphatically disowns Silk Dawn as her mother, calling the latter a "flawed, abusive monster" and demanding her to leave Moon Ray/Tunglið alone. This is because she learned of how Rose Regalia helped defeat Silk Dawn by buying time until Urun, the Light Primeval arrived, proving that their mother, for all her supposed invincibility, can be beaten.
  • Oh, Crap!: She was horrified to discover that her friend-turned-adoptive father, Moon Ray/Tunglið, had re-Ascended as an eldritch god who embodies the natural cycle itself, which Silk Dawn indoctrinated her to see as something to be utterly destroyed. Fortunately, Moon Ray/Tunglið would help her through it by explaining to her how cycles actually worked, proving Silk Dawn wrong. This allowed her to accept the natural cycle as an important, necessary part of life rather than a product of an "imperfect" world.
  • Our Gods Are Different: She is classified as an "Elemental/Ethereal" hybrid goddess, due to embodying both natural elements (Primordial Light and Water) and abstract concepts (Sorrow and Diplomacy). This reflects in her true divine appearance being an eldritch, dove-like entity made of water with blue diamonds lining her body. She's also a "Preeminent"-ranked goddess whose power surpasses even most ancient deities, due to how deities in general get Stronger with Age in the Codexverse. She's also an example of a deity who was "born" by dividing portions of another deity's essence; Silk Dawn created her and Yellow Barding this way in order to get rid of White Corona's perceived flaws and make her oldest daughter more "perfect".
  • Perfection Is Impossible: A huge part of her character arc involved realizing this. For years, she was indoctrinated by Silk Dawn to believe that true perfection means being completely without flaws, and was frequently guilt-tripped and molested by her mother whenever she made a mistake, real or not. While this left her utterly miserable, she nonetheless stayed loyal to Silk Dawn even when some of her younger siblings turned traitor because she wanted to please her mother. When faced with the "death" of her beloved half-sister, Rose Regalia, she was devastated because she didn't know how to process the death of a "perfect" goddess (much less a close family member) or how to grieve properly. It took Rose Regalia and, later, Moon Ray Vaughoof calling her out on her actions for her to realize that she was wrong to believe the things she did, prompting a genuine Heel–Face Turn. And thanks to Moon Ray, she comes to accept that all life is precious regardless of its flaws, and that Silk Dawn was wrong to try make everything "perfect" for the sake of her own ego.
  • The Perfectionist: Deconstructed. As one of Silk Dawn's oldest daughters, she was indoctrinated by her mother to believe that perfection meant being without any flaws at all; any failure on her part, whether real or perceived, were punished via either being guilt-tripped into feeling bad, or being "purified". This made her deeply terrified of failure in general as being purified often meant she was to be molested by either Silk Dawn, White Corona, or both in order to rid her of any perceived imperfections. It also colored her interactions with others, sympathizing with mortals for being flawed and subjecting them to extremely dystopian laws under the belief it will make them perfect. She finally realizes that Perfection Is Impossible once Rose Regalia honestly confronts her on her actions and reveals the true extent of Silk Dawn's perfectionism — which was enough to make her pull a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Perpetual Frowner: In addition to having sad, droopy eyes that constantly make her look like she's about to cry at any moment, she also spent much of the Imperium Era in a deep depression following Rose Regalia's "death", not wanting to move on for fear of forgetting her half-sister's memory. This is represented by her Pony/Alicorn forms' Cutie Mark, which depicts a large eye weeping diamond-shaped tears. Thanks to Moon Ray Vaughoof's positive influence, however, she Took a Level in Cheerfulness as she overcame her Mortality Phobia and grieved in healthier ways.
  • Personality Powers: Her domains of Water, Sorrow, and Diplomacy not only refer to her being White Corona's capacity for guilt and sorrow given form, but also inform her personality as a kind and empathetic goddess. This was deconstructed; she was "born" when Silk Dawn literally cut her away from White Corona, and was indoctrinated for years to to behave in a traditionally feminine way so she would "perfectly" fit the traits that her oldest sister now lacked. This left her hyper-emotional, intolerant of change, and submissive to Silk Dawn's will, and she became a tyrant who misused her domains of Sorrow and Diplomacy to subjugate and torment everyone around her, including her own siblings. Fortunately, she breaks free of Silk Dawn's toxic influence thanks to Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof, who both helped her recover from her abuse and confronted her on her bad actions. She now embodies the positive aspects of her domains, using her powers to bring joy to people and help them reconcile over past wrongs.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: She and Yellow Barding are fraternal twins, but unlike Yellow Barding, who is White Corona's capacity for anger and hatred given form, she is White Corona's capacity for guilt and sorrow. This reflected her personalities, her being a demure, soft-spoken, and refined yet hyper-emotional and melancholic goddess, while Yellow Barding is a ruthless, warmongering general who destroyed anyone Silk Dawn perceived as her enemies.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Her Disproportionate Retribution towards Ruby Guardian and Sapphire Seer's romantic relationship evokes not only classism (a lowly bodyguard falling in love with the court Seer she was charged with protecting), but also homophobia (Ruby Guardian and Sapphire Seer, like their canon counterparts, are lesbians). Fortunately, with her Heel–Face Turn, she dropped these attitudes, having come to realize that they're immoral and intolerant.
  • Portal Pool: As a goddess of Water, she can teleport through bodies of water.
  • Psychic Link: She shares a spiritual and magical bond with Yellow Barding and White Corona that lets them feel each other's emotions and empower each other in close proximity, as the three of them were previously one person. However, it's more pronounced with her and Yellow Barding due to them being twins.
  • Punny Name:
    • Her name sounds extremely similar to "blue diamond", referring to her status as an Expy of Blue Diamond from Steven Universe.
    • "Blue" is also slang to describe someone who is feeling sad or depressed. It's like being called "Sad Diadem".
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: Previously, as a member of the Radiant Tetrarchy, she's one of the highest authorities in the Coronan Imperium, which is helped by her being an ancient and powerful goddess by then. As noted, she is the magically strongest of the four to the point of being regarded as The Archmage, with her most feared power being her Emotion Bomb powers. While she lost her authority following the Coronan Imperium's destruction, she and her older/younger sisters would co-found the democratic Coronan Republic, but watch over it as part of a pantheon while letting mortals rule instead.
  • Rape as Backstory: Part of her abusive upbringing involved being subjected to horrific sexual abuse by her mother, Silk Dawn, who molested her and her sisters under the excuse of "purifying" them of their perceived flaws, but was really doing it out of sadistic pleasure. Even millions of years later, she was heavily traumatized by the experience and Hates Being Touched because of it.
  • Related Differently in the Adaptation:
    • She's the younger fraternal twin sister of Yellow Barding and a younger sister of White Corona, with the twist that she and Yellow Barding were created by Silk Dawn using White Corona's divided traits in her attempt to make White Corona more "perfect" by her standards. In Steven Universe, Blue Diamond and Yellow Diamond are still sisters but not twins, while White Diamond was their mother-figure by virtue of being the oldest Diamond.
    • She's also the older half-sister of Rose Regalia, who, unlike her and Yellow Barding, was sired by Silk Dawn through a flesh-and-blood partner, Morning Star. In Steven Universe, this was not the case.
  • Siblings Share the Throne: She co-founded the Coronan Imperium alongside Yellow Barding, White Corona, and Rose Regalia in their mother's name, ruling together as the Radiant Tetrarchy. After the Coronan Imperium was destroyed in the Imperium Era and she and her sisters made a significant psychological recovery, she, Yellow Barding, and White Corona would found the more democratic Coronan Republic, letting their subjects choose their rulers via elections while they guided the republic itself as part of the Coronan Pantheon.
  • Silk Hiding Steel: She may be a demure, refined, and soft-spoken goddess, but she's also an extremely ancient and powerful one, with her entry describing her as the strongest spellcaster of her and her three immediate older/younger sisters because of her great skill in using the magical aspects of her domains. There's also how, back when she was a co-ruler of the Coronan Imperium, she resorted to execution and other disproportionately harsh punishments when dealing with those who broke her extremely oppressive laws, as shown with Ruby Guardian and Sapphire Seer. She eventually pulls a Heel–Face Turn upon realizing her previous behavior was immoral, but she still hasn't lost her competence or deadliness on the battlefield.
  • Small Parent, Huge Child: She's the "Huge Child" in this case. Following her adoption by Moon Ray/Tunglið, she gained a loving adoptive mother in his wife, Velvet Heart Vaughoof... who happens to be vastly smaller than her due to being an Angel at the time, making things between them a little comical at times. Despite this, she wouldn't have it any other way.
  • Smug Super: Deconstructed. Thanks to Silk Dawn and White Corona's abusive indoctrination, she came to see herself as superior to mortalkind by virtue of being an immortal goddess, while mortals are terminally ill patients waiting for a "cure" for their supposed imperfections. This colored much of her actions and relationships with others, as she genuinely believed that she was helping everyone turn into "perfect" beings themselves. Rose Regalia later confronting and calling her out on this mindset forces her to realize she had behaved immorally, prompting her to pull a Heel–Face Turn and betray their mother. Moon Ray Vaughoof helped her develop genuine empathy for others even further by helping her overcome her worst flaws.
  • The Spymaster: During her initial conflicts with Rose Regalia, she led a sprawling network of agents to try sabotage her younger half-sister's Crystal Warriors.
  • Squishy Wizard: Downplayed. While her spellcasting abilities are the strongest of the four, her combat skills are rather piss-poor compared to someone like Yellow Barding or Rose Regalia due to her focusing on magic. That being said, as a "Preeminent"-ranked goddess, she's still incredibly strong and tough by divine standards, notably breaking one of Rose Regalia's divine swords with her own bare hooves in a past battle with her.
  • Summon Magic: As a goddess of Primordial Light, she can use her powers to summon objects, people, and other things.
  • Super-Strength: Due to deities getting Stronger with Age and her being an extremely ancient goddess, she's incredibly strong even in her Pony forms. She once broke one of Rose Regalia's swords with her own bare hooves in a past fight, despite said sword being a divinely-made artifact.
  • Sword and Sorcerer: She's a sorceress who makes use of the magical aspects of her domains, and out of her and her sisters, she's the one with the strongest magical capabilities. This is a complete contrast to her older twin sister, Yellow Barding, a militant goddess who embodies masculine domains like Wrath and Military and is more combat-oriented.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Downplayed. After witnessing White Corona's intense Villainous BSoD, she ultimately came to see her oldest sister as ultimately another victim of their mother, as the reason why White Corona behaved the way she did was because she had her capacity for guilt and anger literally ripped out of her. That being said, she hated White Corona for all the abuse she subjected her and her other sisters to, and took a long time to genuinely forgive her.
  • Telepathy: Her domains of Sorrow and Diplomacy grant her telepathic powers. The former allows her to detect feelings of sorrow from miles away, while the latter allows her to form Psychic Links with both divine and mortal diplomats.
  • Thinking Up Portals: As a goddess of Primordial Light, she can create light-based portals for travel and guiding attacks.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: She used to be quite hyper-emotional, melancholic, and depressed. While part of this was due to Silk Dawn indoctrinating her according to her nature as a goddess of Sorrow, Rose Regalia's presumed death (and her role in it) also was a huge factor. But thanks to Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof confronting her on her issues and helping her with her grief, she became more open, cheerful, and carefree.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: In her youth, she was genuinely kind and empathetic towards others. Years of abusive indoctrination from Silk Dawn and White Corona, who saw everything save for themselves as beneath them, gradually turned her into a condescending, hyper-sensitive, and tyrannical goddess who saw mortals as terminally ill patients waiting for someone to "cure" their imperfections. Rose Regalia's "death" magnified her flaws to the point where she became extremely depressed and emotionally abusive, with Yellow Barding often bearing the brunt of her grief-fueled rage. This eventually stops when Rose Regalia calls her out on her behavior, prompting her to betray Silk Dawn while setting up a road of recovery and redemption for her.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: While still capable of empathy compared to her sisters in the past, she was extremely condescending, and was a traditionalist, ill-tempered ruler while part of the Radiant Tetrarchy. She was also emotionally abusive to even her own family, her most frequent method being to Emotion Bomb them for both real and perceived wrongdoings. After Rose Regalia and later Moon Ray Vaughoof confront her honestly on her actions, she realized she had behaved immorally and genuinely turned over a new leaf. She is now a cheerful, carefree goddess who values life, promotes the importance of mental health, encourages people to be more free-thinking. She also empathizes with abuse victims, having suffered horrific mistreatment herself under her mother and oldest sister's thumbs.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Her grief and guilt over Rose Regalia's "death" was so great that she obsessively hoarded anything that reminded her of her younger half-sister. This frequently got her into heated arguments with Yellow Barding, who wanted to forget everything about Rose Regalia. Fortunately for both of them, it turns out that Rose Regalia was alive.
  • Trauma Button: This happens twice in the Angel Vale arc of Codex Equus's round-robin, Codex Quests.
    • During the tribal lunch in the Wild Ones' village, the group discussing various civilizations and they're all sophisticated in their own ways causes Blue Diadem (as well as Rose Regalia) to remember all the civilizations she and her siblings "destroyed" to satisfy Silk Dawn's monstrous ego. While she explains her past to the group, Blue Diadem swiftfully yet forcefully stabs an Auroch steak with a tribal knife hard enough to crack the plate it was on, showing how much she hated her birth mother as well as herself for following her.
    • Seeing Eis, a young Ice Dragon whelp, suffer from a severe food allergy causes Blue Diadem to panic; Jade Shell later manages to overhear a partial conversation where Blue Diadem tells Edel that Silk Dawn would have left the Ice Dragon whelp to die and told her daughters to do the same as well. Edel responds with hugging Blue Diadem and telling her not to give her birth mother any more attention.
  • Troubled Abuser: She was an emotionally abusive goddess who mistreated both Yellow Barding and Rose Regalia in horrible ways, and was an equally horrible ruler to her mortal subjects... all which stem from an extremely horrific upbringing where she was abused and indoctrinated to follow Silk Dawn's twisted standards of perfection, leaving her deeply traumatized and emotionally unstable. While Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof do acknowledge she was a victim of her mother, they also point out she still can break free of Silk Dawn's influence and change for the better, something that she ultimately does. Receiving therapy from Moon Ray also helps her with her issues significantly.
  • True Blue Femininity: Her name is Blue Diadem, and like Blue Diamond, she's heavily associated with blue, even dressing up in elegant, dark blue cloaks, gowns, and robes. It turns out to be an enforced example — as the living embodiment of White Corona's guilt and sorrow, she was groomed by Silk Dawn to fulfill a more feminine role among her sisters, informing her development as a goddess of Water, Sorrow, and Diplomacy. This led to her adopting Blue Diamond's canon personality as a demure, refined, and soft-spoken goddess, but also made her submissive to her mother, following Silk Dawn's plans without question and standing by as her other sisters were abused by either Silk Dawn or White Corona. Following her Heel–Face Turn and Silk Dawn's death, she became more cheerful and carefree, and started branching out by wearing modern yet still feminine outfits.
  • Twin Telepathy: Due to the unique circumstances of their births, she and Yellow Barding share a spiritual and magical bond that lets them feel each other's emotions and increase their power when standing in close proximity to each other. While their bond also applies to White Corona to a lesser degree, as they were once part of her, it's more pronounced with both of them due to being twins.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: She contributed to Rose Regalia's Heel–Face Turn by mistaking the latter's requests to stop abusing their mortal subjects for her wanting pets, leading to the creation of the Coronan Imperium's People Zoos.
  • Unwitting Pawn: She and her sisters were initialy unaware that Silk Dawn intended to assimilate the entire cosmos into herself in order to make it "perfect" by her standards, which would require sacrificing her own children to pull it off. Learning this from Rose Regalia, the first to discover the truth, is what pushes her to betray their mother.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: She used to be much more empathetic in a non-condescending way when she was younger. However, a lifetime of abuse from Silk Dawn and White Corona, combined with White Corona constantly demeaning her for empathizing with inferior "organisms" that will die off anyway, twisted her natural empathy into something far darker. Fortunately, she does get better thanks to Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof, but it took countless Ages for that to happen.
  • Villainous BSoD: Like Blue Diamond, she gets into an argument with Rose Regalia over the latter having becoming "worse" than how she remembered her... only for Rose Regalia to put her hoof down and confront her honestly on her own actions, including her emotional abuse. Thanks to this, she finally realizes that she was a horrible person who mistreated her subjects and her own sisters, all while standing by as Silk Dawn and White Corona abused her, Rose Regalia, and Yellow Barding. This leads to her Heel–Face Turn.
  • Villainous Lineage: She's the third-oldest daughter of Silk Dawn by virtue of being created from White Corona's capacity for guilt and sorrow, and initially, she was a loyal follower of her mother, ruling the Coronan Imperium and spreading the idea of perfection across nations in Silk Dawn's name. This is later defied when Rose Regalia confronts her on how horrible her actions where, causing her to realize that Silk Dawn was an abusive monster who never cared for her or her sisters at all and betray her. During the Fourth Age, she helped oppose Silk Dawn's Assimilation Plot in the "Silk Dawn Crisis".
  • Visual Pun: Much like Blue Diamond, she has a lot of symbolism pertaining to her appearance.
    • As a goddess of Sorrow, one of her powers essentially involves making everyone feel as sad as her. Misery loves company.
    • Her Alicorn forms have a mane made of rippling water, symbolizing how her head had been full of sorrow over "losing" Rose Regalia (before it was discovered she survived) and being abused by narcissisitc family members. Her mane is also described as being draped around her shoulders in a loop, symbolizing how she was stuck in a toxic cycle that she was too fearful to break free of until Rose Regalia and Moon Ray helped her do it.
    • The Cutie Mark her Pony forms have is a large eye weeping a blue, teardrop-shaped diamond that's flanked by two smaller ones, with one on each side. Her "talent" revolves around making people cry.
    • Not only is she called Blue Diadem, but her color scheme also consists of blues, which is fitting for a constantly depressed goddess.
  • Walking the Earth: After the Coronan Imperium's destruction, she proceeded to use her newfound freedom by traveling the world during the succeeding Ages, connecting with the same mortals her family mistreated. This later led to her developing a love for traveling in general.
  • Walk on Water: As a goddess of Water, she can walk and/or run on water.
  • Water Is Womanly: She's a goddess of Water who has watery traits in all her divine forms, and she's a demure, refined, and soft-spoken person who generally dressed up in elegant robes and cloaks. This is due to being indoctrinated by Silk Dawn, who wanted her to act completely feminine in accordance to her nature as White Corona's guilt and sorrow given form. Needless to say, the positive influence of Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof encouraged her to break out of her imposed role while still staying naturally feminine.
  • Weakened by the Light: As a goddess of Primordial Light, her powers are strong enough that she could obliterate hordes of Undead.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Deconstructed. Despite her feminine, refined demeanor, deep down she's an extremely miserable and abused goddess whose greatest desire, like her older/younger sisters, is to please and earn her mother's affections. This partially influenced her emotional abuse of her younger half-sister, Rose Regalia, as she unconsciously resented the latter for being Silk Dawn's favorite child. Once she learns of Silk Dawn's Assimilation Plot and the full implications of it, she comes to realize her mother never really cared about her or her sisters at all, prompting her betrayal.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: For all the horrible things she did as a member of the Coronan Imperium's ruling Radiant Tetrarchy, she genuinely sympathized with mortals for being flawed (even if it made her extremely condescending) and thought she was giving them hope for a "cure" by making them adhere to her mother's standards of perfection. However, deep down she always saw Silk Dawn's beliefs and actions as morally wrong, but never did anything due to being indoctrinated to obey her mother without question. It's not until she learns what being "perfect" really entailed in Silk Dawn's eyes does she finally realize she was helping the wrong person and side with Rose Regalia, who learned the same truths years before.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: She has alice-blue hair (i.e. bluish white), and while she does have sympathetic qualities, she was still a horrible, oppressive ruler to her mortal subjects, an emotionally abusive person to even her own family, and a loyal follower of Silk Dawn who tried to enforce her mother's twisted standards of perfection onto others. However, Rose Regalia confronting her honestly forced her to realize the immorality of her actions, which pushed her to change and become The Atoner, averting this trope.
  • Winged Unicorn: When not appearing as a mortal Unicorn mare, she would appear as an Alicorn goddess with a mane and tail made of rippling water (with some of it draping around her neck and shoulders in a loop), a wing gradient going from azure-blue to alice-blue (i.e. bluish-white), and a halo made of light. She has a "Preeminent" version of her Alicorn form that has a multi-layered halo of primordial light, ten wings with sparkling, diamond-like feathers, and a mane and tail displaying images of all moments in history where creatures felt sorrow over being wronged, only to make peace with others later on.
  • Wonder Twin Powers: Because of the unique circumstances of their birth, she shares a spiritual and magical link with Yellow Barding that drastically increases their powers whenever they're in close proximity to each other. This also occurs with White Corona, as both she and Yellow Barding were formerly part of her, but it's more pronounced with her and Yellow Barding because they were born twins.
  • World-Healing Wave: As part of a reconciliation effort between her and her older sisters, she, Yellow Barding, and White Corona combined their powers with Rose Regalia's to repair the damages their initial attack inflicted. The completed version of their technique restored life to the affected area where the initial attack occurred, and healed many deities who were caught up in it.
  • World-Wrecking Wave: Downplayed. When she, White Corona, and Yellow Barding unleashed a light-based attack together to kill Rose Regalia and the Crystal Warriors, it didn't wreck the world, but it still destroyed all life within the area of impact, leaving it a desolated place. Later, Rose Regalia convinced the three of them to reverse this by combining their powers with hers to induce a World-Healing Wave as a way of helping them reconcile with each other.
  • Xenafication: Blue Diamond, while the equivalent to a Physical God in canon, was Unskilled, but Strong due to being primarily a diplomat, focusing on her magic and her ability to shrug off a ridiculous amount of punishment in order to put up a fight — all which are countered by Steven Universe's shield. Here, not only is she a bonafide goddess with all that entails, but she also has a vastly larger repertoire of spells beyond her empathy and energy blasts, to the point where her entry explicitly calls her an "Archmage". She also has political experience as a diplomat, ruler, and spymaster that were not shown in canon, and she participated in far more events and crisis than her canon counterpart did, up to battling her own evil mother and her forces during the "Silk Dawn Crisis".
  • You Have Failed Me: She reacted to Ruby Guardian falling in love with one of her court Seers by having her executed, prompting the court Seer in question, Sapphire Seer, to beg her to kill her in Ruby Guardian's place. It's implied that she had delivered executions and other similarly harsh punishments to others in the past for deviating from the status quo in the Coronan Imperium. She stopped doing this by the time she co-founded the Coronan Republic, having come to realize her way of doing things was immoral.
  • You're Not My Mother: While aiding the rescue of Moon Ray/Tunglið from Silk Dawn's clutches, she quite emphatically disowns Silk Dawn as her mother in the ensuing confrontation, calling her a "monster" and making it clear that she sees Moon Ray/Tunglið and Velvet Heart as her true parents.
Silk Dawn: You dare betray your mother?!
Blue Diadem: 'Your mother'? All I see is a flawed, abusive monster! Now leave my father alone!

    Phönix Vaughoof
Phönix Vaughoof (first introduced here) is an adoptive member of the Liberi Lunae, and a Pterosaur Dracosaur who is Edel's younger biological sister.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She is Edel's birth parents' second attempt to have a proper daughter, subjected to indoctrination and emotional abuse to ensure that she live as their ideal heir as they intended. Fortunately, she is rescued when Edel recognizes signs of her abuse and calls the police on their birth parents, leading to her adoption into the Liberi Lunae.
  • Happily Adopted: While she is put in Edel's care following their birth parents' arrest and disgrace, she ends up being adopted into the wider Liberi Lunae by Moon Ray and his wife, Velvet Heart, as soon as they heard of her. This is so she could receive both therapy for her abuse and the best whelphood possible.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name is German for "phoenix", a mythical bird that constantly dies and reincarnates itself by fire. At first, this took on a darker meaning as she was sired by Edel's Abusive Parents solely to start over and have another go at raising their ideal heir. Then she is rescued by Tere's squad as soon as the abuse was discovered, which leads to her being put in the care of Edel and her adoptive parents, Moon Ray and Velvet Heart, giving her a second chance to have a good life as she should.

    Trost, the Comforting Soul

Classification: Ascendant/Ethereal

Portfolio: Death, Trauma, Comfort, Closure

Rank: Divine (Tier I/Godling)

Affiliation: Liberi Luane (main), Trimortidae

"Even the dead need help in letting go and moving on."

Trost (his entry here) is the Ryujin god of Death, Trauma, Comfort, and Closure, and is a benevolent member of the Liberi Lunae.
  • Abstract Apotheosis: He Ascended as a demigod of Death, Trauma, Comfort, and Closure after training under his adoptive family, relatives, and other deities for many years, having realized that many of Talon Bàis' victims never got closure over their deaths and wanting to help them. Later, he would Ascend to true godhood.
  • All Your Powers Combined: As a Ryujin god, he has the combined powers of all Dragon types, though his preferred magic is ice magic due to being an Ice Dragon.
  • Angelic Transformation: He became an Angel of Death after deciding he wanted to Ascend to godhood, working hard in helping the dead for many years until he was able to Ascend.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: He was born and adopted into the Liberi Lunae after Ruya Clearfeather was, making him younger than her. However, his bitterness over the circumstances of his death and his hatred of Griffonkind for it turned him into a bigot, influencing him to antagonize Ruya for being a Northern Griffon and alienating him. Sadly, he refused to change his ways until his other adoptive siblings called him out on his behavior, while his adoptive parents and relatives showed him how the dead reacted and/or coped with dying violently through no fault of their own. He realized the error of his ways and redeemed himself, apologizing to Ruya for his racist behavior.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: He's a Ryujin god who embodies Death, Trauma, Comfort, and Closure.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Besides Death, he also embodies Trauma. This, however, isn't a bad thing, as his domain of Trauma gives him ways to help people overcome different traumas so they could heal and move on. When combined with his domain of Death, he can help the dead — especially those who died violently — come to terms with their deaths, which is why he also embodies Comfort and Closure.
  • Bash Brothers: He is this with his adoptive cousin, Reinigen, a Ryujin goddess of Death, Purification, Justice, and Release. Due to his pacifistic personality and domains, he is frequently accompanied by Reinigen, who deals with malicious spirits or spirits who are too far deep in their own trauma to be saved, while he helps those who aren't.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: While he's a benevolent and pacifistic Ice Dragon god, he is still an Ice Dragon who happens to embody Death — with all that implies — and won't hesitate to fight if needed. He was also initially very bigoted against Griffonkind because of how the Talon Bàisian Griffons treated him and his kind, but later changed his ways after seeing how other spirits reacted to dying violently as he did, causing him to develop a hatred for racism.
  • Commonality Connection: His gardening hobby led to him becoming close to one of his adoptive sisters, Princess Voľná Láska, who embodies Nature and is a Nature Lover like he is.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He was one of thousands of infant baby Dragons who were taken from their parents, incubated, and then cooked alive while still in the egg by racist Talon Bàisian Griffons to make Draco-Balut. The trauma of being killed before he was even born would affect him even during infancy, requiring his adoptive parents' constant presence.
  • Deity of Human Origin: He started out as the spirit of a baby Dragon that was cooked alive by racist Talon Bàis Griffons while still in the egg. While learning how he died years later devastated him, it also motivated him to try Ascending to godhood so he could help those who experienced similarly traumatic deaths. With help from Moon Ray/Tunglið, the rest of the Redeeming Six, and other deities, he succeeds and Ascends as the Ryujin god of Death, Trauma, Comfort, and Closure.
  • Delightful Dragon: He's a benevolent, pacifistic Ryujin god who essentially serves as a therapist for the dead, helping them overcome their trauma and accept their deaths so they could move on.
  • Dem Bones: One of his powers as an Angel of Death and, later, a Death god involves turning into a skeletal version of himself — in his case, it's a skeleton of a Dragon that died to extreme cold, his body filled and glowing with frost energy while his wings have rotting membranes.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: He's a god of Death, but his main goal is to help troubled souls — including those who died violently — come to terms with their deaths and pass on. This made him quite popular, especially among Dragonkind whose members died unmourned and hated thanks to extremely prevalent anti-Dragon racism at the time; Queen Tiamat even allows him to visit the Draconic Pantheon's Heaven-Realms for this reason.
  • Dragons Are Divine: He's a Ryujin god who embodies Death, Trauma, Comfort, and Closure.
  • The Empath: His domains of Trauma and Comfort give him empathic abilities relating to comforting traumatized people and helping them heal from their PTSD.
  • God of the Dead: He's a god of Death, though one that represents the psychological process of helping the dead letting go of any Unfinished Business keeping them stuck in the mortal planes so they could finally pass on, as shown with his domains of Trauma, Comfort, and Closure. His role makes him extremely important, especially with many innocent Dragons being killed by factions like Talon Bàis out of racism. Notably, Queen Tiamat had given him her blessings to enter the Draconic Pantheon's Heaven-Realms so he could help many Dragon souls recover from their trauma.
  • Happily Adopted: Despite having been taken from his biological parents as an egg, he sees Moon Ray/Canticum and Velvet Heart, the Ponies who adopted him, as his true parents.
  • Healing Hands: As a god of Closure, he can heal psychic and spiritual wounds.
  • Heroic BSoD: He was understandably devastated when he learned his death was caused by racist Talon Bàis Griffons who treated his kind as mere livestock. Unfortuantely, the truth led to him becoming a racist Jerkass who antagonized one of his adoptive sisters, Ruya Clearfeather, for being a Northern Griffon, angering his adoptive family. Fortunately, thanks to repeated chewing-outs and being shown the reality of things, he eventually got better.
Trost: S-So... that's why they killed me? Be... Because I was... a-a dumb, savage beast to them?!
Prince Canticum Lunae Cahaya: ...Yes. Ah'm sorry, Trost.
  • An Ice Person: As an Ice Dragon, he has powers over ice, including a freezing breath that blankets affected areas in ice and snow. In a mundane fashion, he can use his powers to make cold desserts like ice cream and popsicles.
  • Immortality Begins at Twenty: Subverted, as deities only get Stronger with Age as they get older. He's presently a "Godling", which by divine standards is the equivalent to an infant or young deity. He's also technically dead, as he was a mortal spirit who later Ascended as a Death god like Moon Ray did in the past, tying him to the afterlife-realms.
  • Instant Sedation: Justified. As a god of Trauma, he can magically sedate someone when they're going through a panic attack or other instances of emotional upset.
  • Interspecies Adoption: He, an Ice Dragon, was adopted as a baby by Alicorns, Moon Ray/Canticum (who was in his "Kematian Cahaya" form at the time) and his wife, Velvet Heart/Amare. Despite a very rough start, he genuinely sees and treats them as his true parents.
  • Invisibility: As a god of Death, he has invisibility powers.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Comforting Soul".
  • Meaningful Name:
    • His name translates to "comfort" in German. Trost is a god of Comfort who seeks to bring closure and peace to the lost victims of Talon Bàis Griffons. Ironically, he was a racist bully in the past, which came from learning why he died in the egg, though he has since learned the error of his ways.
    • His scythe is named Beruhigend, which translates to "reassuring" in German. As a Death god, his purpose is to help people overcome fears and trauma regarding death, especially those who died violently.
  • Our Angels Are Different: He became an Angel of Death, a job which focuses on ushering souls to the proper afterlife realms, so he could help comfort innocent souls who were traumatized over dying — especially those who died violently.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: He was one of many Dragon babies who died from being cooked alive by racist Talon Bàis Griffons while still in the egg. However, despite being dead, he still grew up in a loving adoptive family (his adoptive father, Moon Ray/Canticum, has an alternative form where he's a Death god) and managed to Ascend after many years of training. He's also an Ice Dragon, which naturally gives him ice magic, though after Ascending he gains the elemental powers of other Dragon types.
  • Our Gods Are Different: He's an "Ascendant" deity, the rarest of the three main types of deities in the Codexverse, as well as an "Ethereal" deity, which embodies abstract concepts. He's also a Ryujin and an example of what happens when the soul of a deceased mortal Ascends, though in his case he became a God of the Dead. And because he's a Death god, he's still technically dead as he is tied to the afterlife realms he looks after. He also possesses a different biology from mortals in that he gets Stronger with Age as he grows 'older'.
  • Personality Powers: He embodies Death, Trauma, Comfort, and Closure, which reflects his Jerkass Realization and subsequent desire to help the dead — including the Dragons who were killed by Talon Bàis Griffons — overcome their traumas so they could finally rest in peace.
  • Psychic Powers: His domain of Death gives him clairvoyant abilities pertaining to upcoming deaths, while his domains of Trauma and Comfort give him telepathic and empathic powers relating to their respective concepts.
  • Reality Warper: As a god of Closure, he has a degree of reality-warping, such as creating magical dummies for people to vent on and arranging "funerals" to give them a chance to properly grieve.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: He wears a purple scarf, and he's a Ryujin god of Death, Trauma, Comfort, and Closure who can also wield ice magic (due to him being an Ice Dragon) and fight with his scythe.
  • Seers: As a god of Death, he has clairvoyant abilities pertaining to upcoming deaths.
  • Semi-Divine: After many years of working as an Angel of Death and learning under various Death deities, he Ascended and became the Ryujin demigod of Death, Trauma, Comfort, and Closure. He later Ascended all the way to true godhood under the tutelage of his family and friends.
  • Signature Headgear: Much like his adoptive father, he wears a black, wide-brimmed hat, though his is tailored to fit on his head due to being a Dragon.
  • Sinister Scythe: As a god of Death, his main weapon is a white scythe with an ice blade named Beruhigend. While he was previously a racist Jerkass due to his traumatic death (and learning why he died years later), it's subverted as he later overcame his issues and became a benevolent Dragon who wants to help comfort those who suffered traumatic deaths like he did.
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: Justified. As a god of Death, he can summon various weapons.
  • Super-Empowering: As a god of Closure, he can empower souls to help deal with their killers if it'll help complete their Unfinished Business and give them closure.
  • Super-Scream: As a god of Death, he can produce sonic screams that will outright kill living creatures if he chose to.
  • Sweet Tooth: He loves cold desserts, especially ice cream and popsicles, and has used his racial ice magic to make the latter many times. This is likely due to him being an Ice Dragon, which makes him inclined to cold environments.
  • Telepathy: His domains of Trauma and Comfort give him telepathic abilities relating to comforting traumatized people and helping them heal from their PTSD.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: He was so upset from learning why he died that he became extremely bitter, believing there was no future to him as a Dragon. Unfortunately, he also became racist towards Griffonkind as a whole out of anger towards the Talon Bàis Griffons for how they treated him and his kind, which influenced him to bully one of his adoptive sisters, Ruya Clearfeather, who is a Northern Griffon. Despite Velvet Heart and Moon Ray's attempts to make him stop, he refused to listen to them until his other adoptve siblings called him out on his behavior and he was forced by the Redeeming Six to see that he's not the only one to suffer trauma from a vilent death.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: While he loves cold desserts, he's especially fond of ice cream and popsicles.
  • Undead Child: Like his adoptive cousin, Reinigen, he was one of many infant Dragons who were killed in the egg by Talon Bàisian chefs to make Draco-Balut, and "grew up" in the afterlife.
  • Upbringing Makes the Hero: Though he died horrifically thanks to racist Talon Bàisian Griffons treating his kind as livestock, it's the good upbringing he received from his adoptive family, as well as therapy, that allowed him to grow up relatively well-adjusted and ultimately come to terms with his death without letting it define him. His adoptive family's loving support would also in part motivate him to try Ascend to godhood so he can help the dead overcome their trauma, which he did after training for many years.
  • You Are Grounded!: He was frequently scolded and grounded by Velvet Heart and Moon Ray, who were both angered with his racist behavior. Sadly, he refused to listen to them until he was called out by his other adoptive siblings and made to see by the Redeeming Six how even the dead suffered from dying violently like he did.

    Songbird, the Saint of Musicians

Classification: Ascendant

Portfolio: Death, Musicians, Dreams,

Rank: Demigod

Affiliation: Trimortidae, Dragon Town Pantheon

Songbird (first introduced here) was a young teenage Pony and aspiring musician who became the Dragon Town Slasher's first victim, having been murdered out of racism.
  • Back from the Dead: One option Moon Ray/Canticum gave her to resolve her situation is to resurrect herself by Ascending as a non-Death deity.
  • Deity of Human Origin: One option Moon Ray/Canticum gave her is to Ascend — either as a Trimortidae by coming to terms with her death, or try come Back from the Dead by becoming a non-Death deity.
  • Happily Adopted: Sort of; she is technically adopted by Moon Ray/Canticum, but as his goddaughter. This is because she still has loving parents who were mourning her death, and Moon Ray/Canticum sought their permission to be her godfather until they themselves died to reunite with her, or she resurrected herself to reunite with them.
  • Meaningful Name: Songbirds are a species of birds that can produce diverse and elaborate bird songs. Songbird is an aspiring musician, but her murder turned that into a Tragic Dream.
  • A Shared Suffering: Moon Ray/Canticum saw a lot of himself in Songbird, as he died relatively young shortly after getting sober but before he could marry Velvet Heart and have a long, successful music career. This leads to him working very hard not to let Songbird go down the same path of bitterness, resentment, and nostalgic longing as he had, and helping her gain closure over her death by letting her watch her killer being brought to justice by Dragon Lord Ember.
  • Tragic Dream: She is considered to be one of the Dragon Town Slasher's most tragic victims, as she was a young aspiring musician on the cusp of starting a promising music career, only for her life to be brutally cut short out of racism. This devastated her, and she laments how she died just before her dream would come true. Moon Ray/Canticum, having had been there himself, would sympathize and comfort her.
Songbird: I... I wanted to be a musician... we were about to get our big break... I was just a teenager! ...It's not fair... it's just not fair!
Prince Canticum Lunae Cahaya: Ah know, sweetheart... Ah know... Believe meh, Ah know more than anyone...
  • Together in Death: This is one reason why Moon Ray/Canticum sought permission from her parents to be her godfather. If she came to terms with her death, then her parents would wait until they themselves died, allowing them to reunite with her in the Heaven-Realms.
