Here, Blue Diadem is an ancient, bonafide goddess who embodies Primordial Light, Water, Sorrow, and Diplomacy, expanding on her canon counterpart's powers while giving her new ones. And of her and her older/younger sisters, she is the most skilled in magic; her Codex entry outright labels her an "[[TheArchmage Archmage]]". She also helped defeat White Corona (the {{Expy}} of White Diamond), after Rose Regalia freed her and Yellow Barding from their oldest sister's mind-control and combined their powers to make White Corona "regrow" the anger and sorrow that she lacked -- which didn't happen in canon. And during her and her sisters' conflicts with Rose Regalia, she was a spy master who led a sprawling network of agents to try sabotage her younger half-sister's growing rebellion, the Crystal Warriors. She also possesses a [[PsychicLink spiritual and magical link]] that drastically increases her powers when in close proximity to Yellow Barding and, to a lesser extent, White Corona, which was absent in canon.
* AdaptationalHeroism: Unlike [[WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse Blue Diamond]], she pulled a HeelFaceTurn and became TheAtoner much earlier thanks to various different circumstances and choices, such as Rose Regalia choosing to oppose and confront her older half-sisters honestly instead of weaving a complicated masquerade. The Codexverse's version of the Diamonds' "Corrupting Light" attack also happened because she and Yellow Barding were brainwashed by White Corona into helping her unleash it with intent to kill Rose Regalia, whereas in canon, Blue Diamond willingly participated in the attack to avenge Pink Diamond's shattering and spite the Crystal Gems. Having a positive influence in [[Music/StevieRayVaughan Moon Ray Vaughoof]] also helped her overcome her worst flaws even further.

Many applications of her domains focus on the magical aspects of them; while [[EmotionBomb emotion manipulation]] and [[BeamSpam energy blasts]] are part of the list, she can cast various other spells through her domains, like creating portals and illusions, summoning tidal waves and floods, healing injuries, and purifying dark magic. Furthering her power is her MagicStaff, which she uses to channel her powers through and cast greater spells. Her entry also notes that as a goddess of Water, she's even more powerful than her adoptive father, Moon Ray Vaughoof, had been back when he was a Water god, both due to [[StrongerwithAge divine aging]] and having more experience than him.

** Her looping, watery hairstyle also evokes the ViciousCycle she created where people tried to get her to move on, only for her to lash out at in her grief, which hurts them, before going back to feeling sorry for herself once she realizes what she did.

It's justified as by that point, she had realized that Silk Dawn was a horrible monster who lost the right to be her mother a ''long'' time ago.

** She's an {{Expy}} of [[WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse Blue Diamond]] who is a biological daughter of Silk Dawn, an expy of [[Anime/KillLaKill Ragyō Kiryūin]], with a twist -- she was created from certain traits Silk Dawn removed from her own firstborn daughter, White Corona, in an attempt to fix White Corona's "imperfections". This also makes her a much older half-sister of Satsuki Kiryūin and Ryūko Matoi.

* DarkAndTroubledPast: Like Yellow Barding, she was created from Silk Dawn's attempts to "perfect" White Corona by cutting away her oldest daughter's supposed flaws, being born from White Corona's missing capacity for guilt and sorrow in her case. She became a tyrannical, bad-tempered, and hyper-emotional ruler when she and her sisters co-founded the Coronan Imperium as the [[GodEmperor Radiant Tetrarchy]], being a staunch traditionalist who harshly punished even small mistakes with death or worse. When Rose Regalia, her younger half-sister, betrayed their family, she was [[EtTuBrute devastated]]. Then she was mind-controlled by White Corona into helping her kill off Rose Regalia and then browbeaten to think Rose Regalia deserved to die, turning her into a grieving wreck who obsessed over her half-sisters death and became emotionally abusive to those aroudn her, especially to Yellow Barding, who bore the brunt of her {{Emotion Bomb}}s. Fortunately, things turned up when it turns out Rose Regalia survived, and the ensuing confrontation between them forces her to realize how bad their family became and her role in part of it, pushing her to become TheAtoner.
* DarkIsEvil: Though a [[GodOfLight goddess of Primordial Light]] who's heavily associated with light, she wears elegant, dark-blue robes, gowns, and cloaks as part of her indoctrination by Silk Dawn to [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/932814645/5024111348 adopt a tradtionally feminine role among her sisters]]. And thanks to that indoctrination, she became an emotionaly abusive person and a horrible ruler who enabled both her mother's ambitions and her family's dysfunctional aspects. She also held CondescendingCompassion towards mortalkind, seeing them as terminally ill patients waiting to be cured of their "imperfections". Fortunately, thanks to Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof, she realizes her behavior was immoral and started changing herself for the better.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Though still wearing dark clothes at the time, she becomes a case of this following her HeelFaceTurn and becoming TheAtoner, even helping many younger deities and heroes fight her abusive mother during the "Silk Dawn Crisis". However, Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof's positive influences does lead to her [[TookALevelInCheerfulness becoming more cheerful and carefree]], and she has taken to wearing modern, if still feminine outfits.

Back when she was a co-ruler of the Coronan Imperium, she was a [[HairTriggerTemper bad-tempered]] traditionalist who held extremely low tolerance for any deviances from the status quo. She responded to Ruby Guardian falling in love with the upper-class Sapphire Seer by ordering the former's execution, and imprisoned Rose Regalia whenever she thought the latter acted out of line, [[{{Hypocrite}} despite spoiling her rotten and bending the rules for her]]. This fed the dysfuncitonal aspects of her relationships with her sisters and factored into Rose Regalia's eventual betrayal. Later, Rose Regalia confronting her honestly on her actions caused her to realize what a horrible person she became, making her resolve to become a better person.
* DivineParentage:
** She's the third-oldest daughter of Silk Dawn by virtue of being White Corona's guilt and remorse given form (with her older twin sister, Yellow Barding, being the second-oldest), making her a granddaughter of [[GodOfLight Urun, the Light Primeval]].
** Later, she would meet and befriend Moon Ray Vaughoof, an ordinary Death god who, while not adopting her right away, acted like a father-figure to her. * DovesMeanPeace: She's a goddess of ''Diplomacy'' and her true divine form resembles a dove, but it was horribly subverted at first as she was loyal to Silk Dawn's will and used her powers to sway many nations, realms, and civilizations to submit to the Coronan Imperium's authority out of CondescendingCompassion. She was also emotionally abusive to her own sisters [[FreudianExcuse thanks to Silk Dawn's abuse]], and her actions contributed to Rose Regalia's betrayal. But once Rose Regalia [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/848558436/4902843607 honestly confronted her on her actions]] and revealed the truth of Silk Dawn's [[AssimilationPlot plans]], she betrayed Silk Dawn and became a better person. She now serves as a benevolent patron goddess of diplomats, playing the trope straight.
* DramaticallyMissingThePoint: At one point, she misinterpreted Rose Regalia's pleas for her sisters to stop abusing their mortal subjects as her wanting "pets", so she put several mortals in [[PeopleZoo specialized zoos]] as a gift for her. While not a direct cause, this gross misunderstanding became one of many contributing factors in Rose Regalia's betrayal.

* DueToTheDead: Following Rose Regalia's "death", she fell into such a deep depression that she mourned her loss and obsessively hoarded anything that reminded her of her younger half-sister. Part of it stems from guilt over helping White Corona kill Rose Regalia, when White Corona actually mind-controlled her and Yellow Barding to pull it off. It's deconstructed as while she kept it private from White Corona, she nonetheless fell into ExcessiveMourning, refusing to move on even after countless Ages had passed. Her way of grieving also made her [[ItsAllAboutMe incredibly self-centered]], even using her EmotionBomb powers on people like Yellow Barding to "punish" them for their perceived LackOfEmpathy while [[NeverMyFault refusing to acknowledge her own faults]]. Being honestly confronted on her actions by Rose Regalia and, later, Moon Ray Vaughoof forced her to realize that she became a horrible person, and she resolved to make amends with those she hurt.
* TheEeyore: While part of it came from Silk Dawn [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/932814645/5024111348 indoctrinating her to act traditionally feminine]], much of it came from guilt over "murdering" Rose Regalia that she never really recovered from, and spent much of the Imperium Era in ExcessiveMourning. Dealing with White Corona and Yellow Barding essentially telling her ''not'' to grieve Rose Regalia's death worsened things for her, making her prone to lashing out with her EmotionBomb powers just to make herself feel better. This created a ViciousCycle that persisted up until Rose Regalia, who turned out to have survived, confronts her on her actions and makes her realize how bad she and her family had become. [[DontFearTheReaper Moon Ray Vaughoof]] later helped her grieve in healthier ways, [[TookALevelInCheerfulness leading to her becoming open, cheerful, and carefree]].
* ElementalEmbodiment: She's a goddess who embodies Primordial Light and Water, [[LightEmUp giving her]] the [[MakingASplash appropriate powers]].
* ElementalSpeed: As a goddess of Primordial Light, she can move at light-speed similarly to what [[MagicKnight Rose Regalia]] can do.

* TheEmpath: Her domains of Sorrow and Diplomacy grant her empathic powers. The former allows her to detect feelings of sorrow from miles away, while the latter allows her to form {{Psychic Link}}s with both divine and mortal diplomats. Her domain of Sorrow in particular also gives her the ability to EmotionBomb people with sorrow, though since her HeelFaceTurn, she has gained more positive powers like creating water that alleviates sorrow in those who drink it.
* EtTuBrute: She was ''devastated'' by Rose Regalia's betrayal and spent the "Twilight of the Alicorns" fighting her alongside her older sisters. It's not until the Imperium Era that Rose Regalia [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/848558436/4902843607 confronts her honestly on her actions]], allowing her to finally understand why her half-sister betrayed the family and do the same.

* ExhaustedEyeBags: She's described as having dark circles underneath her eyes, due to her abusive upbringing and especially her ExcessiveMourning of Rose Regalia's "death".
* FantasticNuke: When she combined her powers with Yellow Barding's and White Corona's to kill off Rose Regalia and the Crystal Warriors, she unleashed a devastating [[LightEmUp light-based attack]] that was essentially the divine version of a nuclear bomb -- not only [[WorldWreckingWave obliterating all life within the affected area]], but also obliterating many deities and mortals who were caught in the attack (including [[BadBoss many Coronan soldiers who were in the area of impact]]) while leaving the survivors with horrible injuries that persisted for many years. However, she was so traumatized by what she did (mostly because White Corona forced her to kill their own half-sister by mind-controlling her and Yellow Barding into it) that she fell into a depression for millennia. The survivors were later healed once Rose Regalia convinced her, Yellow Barding, and White Corona to combine her powers with hers to induce a WorldHealingWave as a way to help them reconcile with each other, which had the included effect of healing all those who were wounded by the initial blast.
* FatalFlaw:
** Sloth. A lifetime of indoctrination and abuse left Blue Diadem extremely reluctant to act despite knowing her family's actions were wrong, making her an AccompliceByInaction as she could have intervened on her siblings' behalf, but chose not to. This also contributed to her being a horrible co-ruler of the Coronan Imperium, as her Sorrow-based empathy likely showed her how ''miserable'' her family's subjects were, but she ignored it and clung to her belief that it was her subjects who needed to change, not her or her family. When Rose Regalia "died", she clung excessively to her half-sister's memory, believing that moving on equated to forgetting all about Rose Regalia despite her ExcessiveMourning being rather unhealthy. Rose Regalia and Moon Ray's positive influences helped her grow a spine and become more willing to defend others, which led to her [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/934931662/5018874017 finally standing up to her birth mother, Silk Dawn]], in order to rescue Moon Ray from Silk Dawn's clutches.
** Wrath. Silk Dawn and White Corona's abuse left her deeply bitter and resentful under her composed, ladylike demeanor, and over time developed a bad temper that made her lash out at the slightest grievances. Not even her own siblings were safe, as Rose Regalia and later Yellow Barding suffered from her anger multiple times. Worse, her domain of Sorrow gives her powerful empathy, including the ability to EmotionBomb others, which means she was essentially torturing anyone who provoked her ire. Her entry quote even has her admitting that she wanted to make everyone feel the pain she felt due to her horrific upbringing. Thanks to Rose Regalia and later Moon Ray, she came to realize she was wrong to act the way she did, and she made great efforts in controlling her temper.
* {{Forgiveness}}: Defied at first. She initially refused to forgive White Corona for the latter's role in her abusive indoctrination growing up, as well as using mind-control on her and Yellow Barding to force them to do whatever she wanted. However, restoring White Corona's lost emotions (specifically, her capacity for guilt and anger) caused her to realize that her oldest sister was as much a victim of their mother, [[AbusiveParents Silk Dawn]], as she and Yellow Barding were. While it took a long time, she eventually forgave White Corona.
* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: Because she is so old, with her [[AnimalisticAbomination true divine form]] being [[YouCannotGraspTheTrueForm unnerving and incomprehensible to many]], she generally appears as either a Unicorn mare or an Alicorn goddess.

* HolyHalo: Her Alicorn forms have a halo made of light, with her "Preeminent" Alicorn form having a multi-layered halo made of primordial light. While it was initially subverted due to her [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen behavior]] and loyalty to [[{{Narcissist}} Silk Dawn]], she comes to realize that her mother is a monster and changes her ways.
* HolyHandGrenade: As a goddess of Primordial Light, she can cast other light-based spells like purification.
* {{Hypocrite}}: She loved Rose Regalia to the point of spoiling her rotten and constnatly bending the rules for her younger half-sister, contributing to Rose Regalia's transformation into a SpoiledBrat. But not only did she resent Rose Regalia for being [[ParentalFavoritism their mother's favorite]], but she's also a bad-tempered EvilReactionary who responded to any deviances from the status quo with DisproportionateRetribution, such as sentencing Ruby Guardian to die for falling in love with one of her court Seers, and imprisoning Rose Regalia whenever she thought she acted out of line. Thankfully, she comes to realize that her behavior was immoral and changes herself for the better.

* ImmortalityBeginsAtTwenty: Subverted. Deities in the Codexverse get StrongerWithAge; as a "Preeminent"-ranked goddess, she's incredibly eldritch and powerful, being roughly on par with other deities of her age group like the [[TheOldGods Thirteen Empyreans]]. However, because her true form -- a divine, birdlike CosmicEntity -- is unnerving to even younger deities, she often appears as either a mortal Unicorn or an Alicorn goddess.
* ImprobableHairstyle: Like Blue Diamond, she has one -- namely, whenever she appears an Alicorn, she has her mane draping around her shoulders and neck in a loop. While her mane ''is'' made of water and she could magically change her appearance, it's still quite strange because her mane in this style doesn't have an end.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: She's a "Preeminent"-ranked goddess and at one point, she befriends Moon Ray Vaughoof, who at the time was a "Tier IV"-ranked Death god, making him vastly younger than her by divine standards. However, Moon Ray later bridges the gap by [[EldritchTransformation re-Ascending]], becoming as old as her, physically. He also [[HappilyAdopted adopts her as his daughter]] by this point.
* {{Irony}}: Since [[HeelFaceTurn turning over a new leaf]], she had been breaking out of her traditionally feminine role by wearing modern (if still feminine) outfits, even commissioning some of them from Rarity Belle and Princess Bon Bon -- a.k.a the same people who would play important roles in the death and eternal damnation of her abusive mother, Silk Dawn.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Deconstructed. While she went through extremely horrific tragedies and abuses for much of her life, her grief over them made her extremely self-centered, putting her in a self-destructive cycle where she wallows in self-pity, lashes out at those who try to help her, then [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone realizes what she did]] before putting more blame upon herself. This is best represented by her domain of Sorrow, which gives her [[TheEmpath empathy powers]] that she used to magically subject people who attracted her ire to intense emotional pain. When Moon Ray Vaughoof brings this up to her, she realizes how horribly she treated Yellow Barding in the years following Rose Regalia's "death", and apologizes to her twin sister for it.

* JerkassGods: Justified and deconstructed. When she was younger, she was genuinely empathetic in a non-condescending way, but a lifetime of abusive indoctrination under [[AbusiveParents Silk Dawn]] and [[BigSisterBully White Corona]] gradually transformed her into an emotional abuser herself. When she became a member of the Coronan Imperium's [[GodEmperor Radient Tetrarchy]], she was such an oppressive ruler that she treated her mortal subjects like slaves and harshly punished them for small mistakes. Her worst traits were magnified after Rose Regalia's "death", with her using her empathic powers as a way to lash out at those she believed didn't sympathize with her grief over losing her half-sister. And while she knew the abuse her family was perpetuating was wrong, her indoctrination and fear of both her mother and oldest sister prevented her from truly acting. Thanks to both Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof, who confronted her honestly on her actions, she comes to realize that how she acted and contributed to her family's overall misery was wrong, and pulls a genuine HeelFaceTurn.
* KarmicJackpot: Like Rose Regalia before her, her choice to betray Silk Dawn and redeem herself for her horrible actions when confronted with the truth ends up rewarding her. Not only does she get to experience true freedom to be the person she wanted to be and do anything she wanted, but she also ends up adopted into a family who genuinely loves and cares for her as she really is.
* KickTheDog: She was enraged that Ruby Guardian, a lowly bodyguard, dared to break the social hierarchy by falling in with Sapphire Seer, an upper-class {{Seer|s}} from her court, and ordered to have Ruby Guardian executed for her "crime". This kicked off a series of events that led to Ruby Guardian and Sapphire Seer [[FusionDance fusing for the first time]] (though it's thanks to Rose Regalia discovering her fusion powers for the first time) and [[MistreatmentInducedBetrayal joining the Crystal Warriors]] as Garnet Gauntlet.
* KickTheMoralityPet: Despite being rather close to Rose Regalia, she alternated between emotionally abusing her, spoiling her rotten, and letting White Corona and Silk Dawn abuse her as well. She also punished Rose Regalia by imprisoning her whenever she thought her half-sister stepped out of line. This mistreatment first turned Rose Regalia into a SpoiledBrat, then contributed to Rose Regalia's HeelFaceTurn after she learned what genuine love is and realized the truth of Silk Dawn's plans.
* LackOfEmpathy: Deconstructed. Like Blue Diamond, she represents the ItsAllAboutMe and NeverMyFault aspects of the trope. While she does have empathy and is [[TragicVillain a sympathetic character overall]], she felt so guilty towards her role in Rose Regalia's "death that she obsessively hoarded any reminders of her half-sister, while refusing to move on and demonizing those who try to help her as not caring about her pain. There's also how she was indoctrinated at a young age to obey [[AbusiveParents Silk Dawn]] and [[BigSisterBully White Corona]] without question, causing her to [[BystanderSyndrome stand by while her entire family abused each other]] when she wasn't contributing to it. And like Rose Regalia prior to her HeelFaceTurn, she empathized with mortals, but [[CondescendingCompassion saw them as terminally ill patients waiting for a cure for their supposed "imperfections"]]. This is represented by her Sorrow domain's EmotionBomb powers, which makes everyone around her suffer but leaves her ignorant of the fact that she's part of the problem herself. This is later subverted when Rose Regalia [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/848558436/4902843607 confronts her honestly on her actions]], forcing her to realize that she really is partially to blame for their family situation and that her actions as a ruler and goddess were immoral. [[DontFearTheReaper Moon Ray Vaughoof]] helped her redeem herself further by helping her overcome her worst flaws.
* LadyOfBlackMagic: Like [[WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse Blue Diamond]], she's demure, refined, and soft-spoken, and she evokes the image of a classical witch with her gloomy disposition and regal robes/gowns and hooded cloaks. Some of her powers involve [[TheEmpath emotion]] and [[BeamSpam energy manipulation]]. Except here, she's [[TheArchmage the strongest and most accomplished spellcaster]] compared to her older/younger sisters, as she is the most skilled in wielding the magical aspects of her domains. She also wields a MagicStaff as her main weapon. However it's subverted; not only does she embody ''[[GodOfLight Primordial Light]]'', but she was also a victim of horrific familial abuse for much of her life, leaving her with a HairTriggerTemper that makes her prone to DisproportionateRetribution if someone makes slight deviations to her rules and policies. Her demure personality was also [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/932814645/5024111348 the result of being indoctrinated by Silk Dawn to fulfill a traditionally feminine role]] in accordance to her being [[TheDividual White Corona's sorrow and guilt given form]]. Fortunately, with Rose Regalia and Moon Ray Vaughoof's help, she gets better.

* SmugSuper: Deconstructed. Thanks to [[AbusiveParents Silk Dawn]] and [[BigSisterBully White Corona]]'s abusive indoctrination, she came to see herself as superior to mortalkind by virtue of being an immortal goddess, and thus [[CondescendingCompassion came to see mortals as terminally ill patients who were wating for a "cure" for their supposed imperfections]]. This colored much of her actions and relationships with others, as she [[WellIntentionedExtremist genuinely believed that she was helping everyone turn into "perfect" beings themselves]]. Rose Regalia later confronting and calling her out on this mindset forces her to realize she had behaved immorally, prompting her to pull a HeelFaceTurn and betray their mother. Moon Ray Vaughoof helped her develop genuine empathy for others even further by helping her overcome her worst flaws.

* AuthorityGrantsAsskicking: Previously, as a member of the [[GodEmperor Radiant Tetrarchy]], she's one of the highest authorities in the Coronan Imperium, which is helped by her being an ancient and powerful goddess by then.
