Letters

    Overall
  • Animal Motifs: Several examples.
    • B: Butterflies
    • C: Squids (moves like one)
    • F: Crocodiles
    • K: Insects
    • Q: Slugs
    • S: Snakes
    • T: Hammerhead sharks
  • Anthropomorphic Typography: They're living letters, unsurprisingly.
  • Attack on One Is an Attack on All: The letters strongly look out for each other, so as long as one letter is in trouble, almost everyone gets involved.
  • Berserk Button: Don't make them spell any forbidden words, especially "frick".
  • Black Dot Pupils: Well, they're more like black rounded squares (and W's pupils are red).
  • Disproportionate Retribution: The majority of them turn against F (some even attack him) simply because he spelled a bad word.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": The letters' names are letters, each corresponding to its resembling character.
  • Dreary Half-Lidded Eyes: A, B, E, G, J, L, M, N, O, Q, and W all have this trait.
  • Everyone Has Standards: While many of the letters didn't like F, they are not happy with L for throwing the calculator ship right into F's mountain with F still inside it.
  • Fusion Dance: They can combine when they spell out a word. If they do so, they will transform into an object based on what they spell.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Upon realizing they caused F to become evil, the letters present during the reveal of his backstory felt remorseful. Exceptions are G and Q, who weren't involved with F's exile. Implied for Y, who reacted in terror to the word F spelled but wasn't directly seen attacking or shunning him.
  • No Brows: With the exception of X.
  • The Noseless: Although F has a crocodile-like snout and H sniffed a fart which caused their death, none of the other letters appear to have noses.
  • O.C. Stand-in: Because a majority of the characters do not have very defined personalities other than basic inferences from their voices and appearances, this trope ends up happening to them. They can either be consistent, such as J being confident and suave, while interpretations for characters like K can vary wildly, such as them having the mind of an actual insect, or just having insect traits.
  • Pokémon Speak: They can only speak their names.
  • Sliding Scale of Gender Inequality: Level 1. Out of the 26 letters, only P, W and Y were outright females. H and K have an Ambiguous Gender, although K was later confirmed to also be female.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: The remaining letters feel bad for what they did to F in his childhood.

    A

The first letter of the alphabet. A is chill, laid back, and loyal to his friends. He spelled the most words, with a total of 7 words (5 in the main series, 2 in non-canon).

    B
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b_30.png
Click for lowercase version.
The second letter of the alphabet. B, like A, is chill. He also has the ability to fly thanks to his wings which are also capable of creating windstorms.

    C
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/c_5.png
Click for lowercase version.
The third letter of the alphabet. C is naturally aggressive, being able to swim in the air and bite people when he feels provoked.
  • Ambiguously Gay: The one time he smiles is when he (as the CAB) is admiring L's superhero form.
  • Character Death: Gets ripped to shreds by F when trying to save G and N.
  • Cowardly Yellow: Inverted; he's yellow but far from cowardly (apart from being the letter that COWARD starts with), to the point of sacrificing himself to stop F from attacking N.
  • Flying Seafood Special: He appears to be able to swim through the air in a similar way to a squid.
  • Getting Eaten Is Harmless: Completely averted. He gets eaten in a similar way to S, so he could've been safe... until F tore him up and killed him.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: C saves N from possibly getting attacked by F, but as a result he gets killed by F instead. Thankfully, it is undone by the epilogue.
  • Hypocrite: Gets mad at F for spelling "frick", despite being involved himself.
  • Karmic Death: C was the first letter to attack F after the "frick" prank via biting him. After biting him again in adulthood to protect G and N, he gets ripped apart to death with F's fangs.
  • Man Bites Man: His go-to method of attack.
  • Out of Focus: Aside from a brief flashback by N, he so far doesn't appear in Number Lore.
  • Perpetual Frowner: An interesting variant; he is basically a wide open mouth, but he always seems to carry an angry expression in his eyes. The only time he is shown happy is when L swoops in to save him, A, B and G from F.
  • Stealth Pun: His main attack is to chomp on his opponent. Also, he moves like a sea (C) creature.
  • Sudden Anatomy: His teeth appear and disappear as needed.

    D
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d_69.png
Click for lowercase version.
The fourth letter of the alphabet. D is F's first target of his plan.
  • Four Is Death: The fourth letter, and his episode gets hijacked by F, who kidnaps him, signifying the start of the story of the series.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: E used him as a weapon to beat up F when they were kids. F did the same to E when they all grew up.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: E used D to hit F, and as such F used D to hit E.
  • Out of Focus: So far doesn't appear in Number Lore.
  • Simpleton Voice: Speaks with one for what little time we see him on screen.
  • Stealth Pun: He sounds dumb.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Since he gets kidnapped by F early on and is left unconscious, D doesn't get to do much.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Was once part of F's friend group before turning on him for spelling "Frick".

    E
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/e_2.png
Click for lowercase version.
The fifth letter of the alphabet. E is F's second target of his plan.
  • Ascended Extra: Was unconscious for much of the first season (aside from his lowercase self in a flashback), but in Number Lore he joins the rescue mission.
  • Character Development: After just barely getting any spotlight in season 1, come season 2, he is shown trying to steal the spotlight from A, revealing a bit of a rivalry between the two (possibly because they're the most commonly used letters in the alphabet).
  • Cool Bike: He joins the X rescue mission on a bike made of B, I, K and himself as the driver.
  • Dreary Half-Lidded Eyes: Seen often with these, both as an adult and as a child.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite not being fond of F, he was not happy when L threw the calculator ship into F's lair, spelling JERK behind L while giving him a Death Glare.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: E once used D as a weapon to beat up F when they were kids. F would later return the favor, using an unconscious D to beat up E.
  • Irony: Despite being the most common letter in the alphabet, he doesn't get to do much before he is instantly kidnapped and taken to F's lair in his debut episode.
  • It's All About Me: Tries to take A's spotlight constantly; to the point that, in a scenario where teaming up would provide both of them benefitsnote , E immediately ditches A to chase after X.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: E used D to hit F, and as such F used D to hit E.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Also roughed up by F in his episode, and taken to his lair not long after. Gets a bit more screentime in Number Lore, thankfully.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Was once part of F's friend group before turning on him for spelling "Frick".

    F
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f_1.png
Click for lowercase version.
The sixth letter of the alphabet and the original series' main antagonist. Having been turned against as a child, F has grown to become bitter towards the other letters, kidnapping, injuring, or even killing them in the process.
  • Abandonment-Induced Animosity: Grows spiteful towards N for not standing up for him. Subverted in the epilogue, where N is sent back in time and remedies his mistake, thus keeping F from becoming evil.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Thanks to being framed for saying "Frick," everybody bar G, N, P, Q and Z started ganging up on him. This lead to his Start of Darkness. Even in the new timeline, he still carries a grudge on the other letters and refuses to interact with anyone besides N, who is given no choice but to leave him behind to help them.
  • Alphabet Architecture: His base is a vaguely F-shaped mountain.
  • Animal Motifs: He somewhat resembles an alligator with his long snout and sharp, noticeable teeth. Notably, he sometimes attacks by aggressively chomping on other letters.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: N was friends with F after F defended him from L and O. N doesn't end up helping him back, which ends up being the final straw that makes him turn into a villain. In the new timeline, N decides to help F instead, which, while causing N to face the same stigma as F, causes the two to continue their friendship, and lets F not go down the path of villainy. This ends up downplayed in the new timeline where, even though he's not an outright villain anymore, he still laughs at the other letters getting attacked by 1's forces and disproves of N leaving to help them.
  • Big Bad: The villain of the series.
  • Blob Monster: He's made of some sort of black slime (ink, perhaps?).
  • Bully Hunter: He was this as a kid, framing L for farting when he and O attacked N.
  • Cheated Angle: He faces the screen fully front a couple of times note , but at both times the screen is black, meaning only his eyes and teeth are visible.
  • Create Your Own Hero: The gems he created through his tears would give L, M, N, O, P, Q and X their superpowers.
  • Create Your Own Villain: He was attacked and shunned by the other letters as a kid, with N's refusal to stand up for him being the final straw.
  • Dark Is Evil: He's colored black and he's a bad guy.
  • The Dark Side Will Make You Forget: Initially, his plan was to merely kidnap the letters required to spell "friends" and make everyone friends again. However, as time passes by, he slowly becomes more and more focused on getting revenge on the other letters and inflicting pain on those who stand in his way, which is particularly shown with the circumstances of P's death.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After he survives L throwing the calculator ship at him, F manages to get back at L by trapping him in one of the ship's bubbles.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: First appears 2 episodes before his own.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After all the turmoil he goes through in the series, he gets another chance in the new timeline, with N, while being ostracized by most of the letters now, deciding to keep F company as a friend.
  • Fangs Are Evil: F is for this fiendish, frightening, freaky foe's fierce fangs. Notably, F's lowercase form lacks this, instead featuring flat, rectangular teeth; it isn't until the lowercase letters begin to wail on him for the "Frick" prank that J chips his teeth into the fangs he has today.
  • Fatal Flaw: His distrust and hatred of the other letters in Number Lore. Unlike N, who has put the past behind him, F continues to be held back by his grudge, refusing to go along with N when doing so would have given him the opportunity to make more friends. This, combined with laughing at L and O earlier on, also soon leads to F getting caught in the destruction of his lair by the calculator ship thrown by L.
  • Four Is Death: He is seemingly killed by L at the end of Number Lore episode 3. Episode 4 starts with V, A, N and a reluctant L going to check on him, but the second part of Episode 4 shows that F survived.
  • Freudian Excuse: He was bullied as a kid and apparently just wants friends.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: He used to be a regular kid, then he got bullied and ostracized and is now a murderer and kidnapper.
  • Gasshole: Expels H as a fart after inhaling them, and spelled "fart" as a child to get back at L for bullying N.
  • Hated by All: Ever since the "frick" incident, he is essentially an outcast among all the other letters. The only ones who had any sympathy for him were N and Z, who were unable to help him due to cowardice and being a living planet respectively. Thankfully by the epilogue, N manages to restore his friendship with F by standing up for him, even by becoming an outcast as well.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: He's no longer an outright villain, but to say he's friendly is incorrect, brushing off the other letters' injuries and getting mad at N for leaving to help them.
  • History Repeats: He not only refuses to help the other letters save X, but tries to keep N from joining them. But N ultimately departs and F is once again alone and heartbroken.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: This is his entire motivation: He tries to kidnap the other letters necessary to spell the word "friends," to recreate his childhood memory. He gets his wish in the new timeline, staying friends with N.
  • Jerkass to One: Inverted and played straight. He hates everyone except N, but is especially resentful towards L and O (who bullied him the most and caused him to become an outcast), to the point where he laughs after E accidentally runs them over.
  • Karmic Death: Manipulated G into killing P by shooting her in the chest. N later kills F in that same manner.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Exaggerated. The first episodes are nothing but individual letters using Pokémon Speak. Then F appears, beats up D and E, kidnaps them, and cages them in a cave.
  • Man Bites Man: He sometimes attacks by biting his foes.
  • Monster-Shaped Mountain: His lair is a mountain cave shaped like his head.
  • Never Smile at a Crocodile: He has a crocodilian mouth, sometimes attacks by biting others, and is the Big Bad of the series.
  • Nonstandard Character Design: He has fangs while the other letters have normal, rectangular teeth. That is because, when he was a lowercase letter, he was tricked into spelling "frick", which leads to most of the other letters abusing him, including J breaking his teeth.
  • The Nose Knows: In "U", he is able to find out that N is hiding behind G simply by sniffing the nearby air.
  • Ominous Obsidian Ooze: He appears to be made of this.
  • Prank Gone Too Far: The letters making him accidentally spell "frick" as lowercase letters are the catalyst for the events of the series in the present day.
  • Precision F-Strike: Downplayed, but F spelling the word "Frick" serves as the reveal of why he's antagonized.
  • Reformed, but Not Tamed: While N's friendship has kept him in line, he is still resentful towards the other letters for the way they treated him, refusing to help them rescue X and even enjoying the sight of L and O getting hurt.
  • Seers: In the new timeline, he and N share the ampersand gem, which is a fusion of the question mark and semi-colon gems. When N leaves to help the other letters with 1, the gem is split back in two, and F keeps the question mark gem.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Upon being framed for spelling the word "frick", lowercase F can only gulp in mortal terror as all the other letters give him a mass Death Glare before giving him a beatdown.
  • Token Evil Teammate: With the numbers serving as the Evil Counterparts of the letters, F is technically on the side of the alphabet crew, even if he didn't want to take part in X's rescue.
  • The Tooth Hurts: His fangs are not natural; J broke F's teeth into fangs. They started out uneven as a lowercase, but evened out as he grew up.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Was a fairly nice (if a bit abrasive) kid before everyone turned on him as a result of the "frick" prank.
  • Wall Slump: When N fires a high-powered beam at him in "Y" during their confrontation in F's cave, the force of the beam sends him towards the wall, before he slides down it.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: He just wants his former friends back, and he'll kidnap them and kill others in his way.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Used to be friends with R, I, E, N, D and S before they all turned on him for spelling "Frick". While he and N manage to restore their friendship in the epilogue, the other letters are still against them. F also still holds a grudge against the other letters (especially L and O).
  • Would Hit a Girl: He had no problem deliberately biting a chunk out of P’s face.

    G
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/g_3.png
Click for lowercase version.
The seventh letter of the alphabet. G is the leader of the letters that unite to stop F, usually tasking them to spell words to transform into useful tools. He is happily related to P and had a child with her.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Despite his love for P, he is fond over L's superhero transformation.
  • Babies Ever After: Has a child with P by Number Lore.
  • Covered in Kisses: He and P were introduced as Make-Out Kids in the flashback, with G covered in kiss marks by the time F passes them.
  • Decoy Protagonist: At first, it seems like he's the hero of the story. It turns out that N is instead.
  • Dreary Half-Lidded Eyes: His eyes are kept half-lidded by default, matching his calm attitude and voice.
  • Everyone Knows Morse: He's the only letter shown to use morse code to refer to everyone.
  • Leitmotif: Usually accompanied by a triumphant orchestral tune.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: G reacts this way after realizing he shot the wrong target.
  • Official Couple: G was shown to be one with P as a kid. In the present, he still holds affection for P and is devastated when she dies. And in the retconned timeline, they even have a child together!
  • Out of Focus:
    • As a lowercase letter he didn't appear at all until the end with P. Also, he ironically didn't do anything to F, despite being the most desperate to stop him in the (former) present.
    • In Number Lore, he currently doesn't have as much screen time, instead giving his son more focus.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Interestingly enough, he manages to deliver one despite his vocabulary being sole "G"s. When killing P, mistaking her for F, he says "GG," an abbreviation for "Good game" usually used once the game is about to or already has ended. Unfortunately, F's game doesn't end there.
  • Stealth Pun: G is one of the good guys.

    H
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/h_93.png
Click for lowercase version.
The eighth letter of the alphabet. H died as a child after having inhaled F's "fart" transformation to prank L back. Now "living" as an adult ghost in the present.
  • Ambiguous Gender: H's gender is very ambiguous, and the fandom is still split on what gender they actually are since it could go any way.
  • Deader than Dead: F somehow manages to kill them despite the fact they're a ghost and that they already died to a fart when they were young.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: H's eyes have black sclera and white, horizontal pupils. Even before becoming a ghost, while H had normal eye colors (black pupils and white sclera), their pupils were still a horizontal shape.
  • Flight: They can hover in a stable position over the ground.
  • Irony: They died to gas as a kid, but as a ghost, They appear to be made up of the stuff. They also got expelled as a fart, the very thing they died from, after F inhaled them.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: They died as a kid and is now an adult ghost.
  • Out of Focus: Apart from their reveal as to how they died, and immediate "death" in the original timeline, H never played a major role in the series.
  • Stealth Pun: H is a ghost. What do ghosts do? They haunt.
  • Sudden Anatomy: Despite lacking a nose, H briefly gains nostrils to sniff a fart that would turn them into a ghost.
  • Toilet Humor: Were subjected to this on two occasions; first being when F breathes them in and promptly farts them back out in their episode, and the second being in "nZ...", when they bear witness to the fart prank and immediately perish.

    I
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/i_22.png
Click for lowercase version.
The ninth letter of the alphabet. While appearing to be the most adorable letter of the cast, I can shoot deadly lasers from his head. I is F's third target of his plan.
  • Badass Adorable: He may be cute, but one blast from his tittle is enough to disintegrate!
  • Cute Bruiser: I turning against F for spelling "frick" and beating him up proves that I is more than a cute face to be reckoned with.
  • Equippable Ally: Unwillingly. F uses him as a gun.
  • Expy: To the Pixar I in his debut episode, where F plays the role of Luxo Jr as he stomps on poor I.
  • Hypocrite: Gets mad at F for spelling "frick", despite being involved himself.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: It turns out that F stomped on I because I stomped on him when they were kids.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Was once part of F's friend group before turning on him for spelling "Frick".

    J
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/j_47.png
Click for lowercase version.
The tenth letter of the alphabet, J is noted for his front butt-like shape. Like I, he has the ability to shoot from his head. The ability was shown to be weaker as a lowercase since it only broke F's teeth, but in Number Lore it's as powerful as I's shared ability.
  • Ascended Extra: J was instantly killed in Alphabet Lore, but in Number Lore, his role got bigger and even faced off against 3 in a laser battle.
  • Attack the Mouth: Played for Drama: after F was tricked into spelling "frick", J deliberately crashed his tittle into F's mouth, which damaged F's teeth and formed fangs out of them.
  • Comically Oversized Butt: Has easily the largest butt out of all the letters.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Breaks F's teeth just because he spelled a bad word.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He may not have liked F very much, but he is also not happy with L throwing the calculator ship right into F's mountain. He spells JERK behind L while giving him a Death Glare.
  • Flat Character: The only reason he existed was to be destroyed by F. Slightly Downplayed with him being the cause of F's broken teeth, but other than that there's not too much to know about J. See Out of Focus below.
  • Joke of the Butt: Has an oddly pronounced pair of buttocks that make up his shape.
  • Karmic Death: As a kid, he gave F his trademark fangs by breaking his teeth with his tittle. As an adult, he dies via F using I's tittle to flat-out vaporize him.
  • Lantern Jaw of Justice: You can make the claim that he has a pronounced cleft, instead, which would then make it this trope.
  • Out of Focus: Due to his immediate death, aside from being the reason F has fangs, J never got to develop as a character and never had any practical impact on the series.
  • Purple Is Powerful: He's a purple letter, and in Number Lore, he emits a powerful laser beam that proves a worthy match for 3's fire breath attack.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Is the direct reason F has fangs.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: By the time J is fully on screen and has said his name, he's only milliseconds away from being blasted by F and reduced into ash by the next episode. He, at the least, gets a bit more screentime in Number Lore.

    K
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/k_85.png
Click for lowercase version.
The eleventh letter of the alphabet, K resembles a moth. Like B, C, and H, she can fly thanks to her wings. She wasn't directly part of F's plan, but F used her to fly.
  • Ambiguous Gender: K's gender for a while has been unsure to viewers. Viewers who thought she was male were focused on her voice sounding a bit masculine and lack of eyelashes compared to the other females (P, W, and Y), while female thinkers recall the time Mike used she/her pronouns to respond to a female human K fanart. Finally, he would reveal K is a female when asked.
  • Animal Eyes: Has black eyes like a real bug.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Resembles some sort of bug. As a lowercase letter, she's even pupating.
  • Bowel-Breaking Bricks: She lays a pile of eggs when the number ship almost crashes into her and J.
  • Equippable Ally:
    • Unwillingly in Alphabet Lore. F uses her to fly.
    • Willingly in Number Lore. She rescues J from 3 and guides his laser beam against 3's fire beam.
  • Everyone Has Standards: She may not have liked F very much, but she is also not happy with L throwing the calculator ship right into F's mountain. She spells JERK behind L while giving him a Death Glare.
  • Flight: She can fly by flapping her wings rapidly, just like a real insect.
  • Furry Reminder: When the calculator ship crash-lands near her and J, she craps out a whole load of eggs containing larval versions of her.
  • Hypocrite: Gets mad at F for spelling "frick", despite being involved herself.
  • Monstrous Mandibles: Has a beak-like pair of mandibles in place of a mouth.
  • Nonstandard Character Design: She is the only letter with completely black eyes and mandibles instead of a normal mouth.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After being freed by M, she takes off, never to be seen again until N shoots his rainbow beam.
  • Stock Audio Clip: While it's decently common for characters, there isn't more than one version of her saying her name line, it's the same sound recycled.

    L
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/l_55.png
Click for lowercase version.
The twelfth letter of the alphabet. L is one of the meanest letters, having been the whole reason F turned evil. Even in present times, he shows no remorse for those he picks on. He holds the period gem which can freeze anyone in place.
  • Ambiguously Gay: Inserts himself through O's hole and stares at him in such a way that causes him to blush. In "4", he sees a reflection of himself though one of the bubbles in the calculator ship and immediately grows attached to it.
  • Bullet Catch: F is about to shoot a tittle at G and crew using I, but then L steps in and uses his body shape to deflect the shot.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: The entire reason he and O turned everyone against F and unwittingly drove him to villainy? Because F pulled an embarrassing (but harmless) prank to get back at them for hurting N. And his retribution for F laughing at him for being run over by E's bike? Throw the entire calculator ship into his mountain, with F still on it.
  • Expy: His blue-green color, Sailor Senshi Send-Up status, and closeness with O might remind some of Sailor Neptune.
  • Green and Mean: Zigzagged: He was a bully as a kid and even now, as an adult, he's still kind of mean towards N, but in the present day, he's a superhero. He takes his meanness further by throwing the calculator ship at F's lair, knowing F was still inside.
  • Hate Sink: Due to the way he mistreats F, feeling no remorse in the present, and cares mostly about himself, it's clear he's meant to be hated.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Zigzagged again. He and O were bullies as kids, but are superheroes (albeit still kind of jerkish ones) as adults. Unfortunately, L still stoops to hurting (possibly killing) F as a superhero as shown in Number Lore. He does go to check up on F afterwards, but only after the other letters call him out for his actions.
  • Jerkass to One: As is expected with being a superhero, he is ready to help save his fellow letters from peril...unless it's F, who he actually puts in peril as petty payback. He also pays no heed to N's concern for F, and only joins in rescuing F when the others call him out. He and O also beat up and abandoned N for losing his gem.
  • Joke of the Butt: His butt is almost always visible from the back unlike other letters. As a child, f pranked him as revenge for hurting n by combining and spelling "fart" to humiliate him.
  • Karma Houdini: Despite him and O being the main reason F turned evil, they receive no proper comeuppance, other than F taking away their gems. Even in the retconned timeline, they still get away with hurting F and N, and still got their gems from attacking F.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: It seems he's going down this route in "4". First the other letters call him out for endangering F. Then when he (begrudgingly) searches for F, he ends up being distracted, allowing F to trap him in the crashed ship.
  • Kick the Dog: While he laughed at him and O after being run over at E's bike, the worst F had done was refuse to help out and outright object to N choosing to do so. And yet, L was petty enough to dispose of 1's ship by throwing it into F's mountain home while the latter was tearing up over N's leave. He even had the nerve of laughing it off while V, A and N went to check if F was okay.
  • Lantern Jaw of Justice: His face is on the L's stem, turning the horizontal bar he has into one of these.
  • Male Gaze: A, B, C, G, and O, who are all male, are very attracted to his superhero form.
  • Rude Hero, Nice Sidekick: He is the leader of the LMNOP squad, but isn't very nice compared to most of his teammates. Even O seems to be getting better as a person by Number Lore.
  • Time Stands Still: The period gem lets him do this to individual letters.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: He and O probably didn't think they'd turn F into a murderous kidnapper.

    M
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/m_53.png
Click for lowercase version.
The thirteenth letter of the alphabet. M holds the comma gem which can slow down anyone targeted with it. While M is tough like L and O, he has a much softer side and is more caring and loyal to his friends.
  • Gentle Giant: Zigzagged. He's one of the larger letters and generally kind unless you hurt his friends. Compared to L and O, who were jerks to N and abandoned him, M stayed by his side and even comforted him during P's death. Granted, he did bully F as a kid, but this was due to a misunderstanding and he showed remorse for it.
  • Manly Man: He's one of the larger letters, has a very deep voice, and is the physical powerhouse of LMNOP.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: This trope could apply to anyone who watched F's Start of Darkness in the old timeline, but in particular M was revealed to be one of the letters that beat F up as children. He felt regret for his actions.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: He's the in-between to L & O's mean and N & P's nice.
  • Red Is Heroic: Zigzagged: He's a superhero in the present day, but when he was a kid, he was one of the letters who beat up F.
  • Red Is Violent: Not only is he red and pretty macho-looking, but he also won't pass up a fight - he briefly attacked F when he was younger and beat up 1 for attempting to kidnap X.
  • Shout-Out: His red color, black hair, macho nature, and Sailor Senshi Send-Up status may remind some of Sailor Mars.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Manly man to N's sensitive guy.
  • Stealth Pun: A bit more obvious than the others, M is the muscle of the group.
  • Super-Strength: His power gives him this ability. He is capable of stopping 1's ship from taking off by pulling onto it for dear life.
  • Time Master: He uses the comma gem, which lets its user slow down time.

The fourteenth letter of the alphabet and the original series' main protagonist. Having witnessed F's turn of evil and the deaths of his friends, N has grown to be a coward. He was supposed to be the fourth part of F's plan, but he was rescued by C. He holds the semicolon gem, which can conjoin 2 letters together into it when used.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: In the new timeline, he stands up for F and ends up being shunned along with him. Though unlike F, who still carries a grudge, N forgives the other letters and offers to help them save X.
  • Character Development: His entire arc in Alphabet Lore is getting over his cowardice and knowing when to put his foot down. His inaction towards F's bullying caused the entirety of Alphabet Lore to happen, and he struggles with the consequences this brings. He ends up being able to travel back in time and Set Right What Once Went Wrong, growing from his mistakes. His lesson sticks, as in Number Lore, he immediately tries to save his friends despite F's distrust. He ends up going... though more-so by F accidentally making him fall off his mountain.
  • Chained Heat: The semicolon gem he uses can connect two letters together.
  • Dashing Hispanic: His superpowered form has a tilde on it (Ns with tildes being more common in Spanish) and a vaguely Hispanic accent.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: In the main timeline, he ends up killing F, and afterwards realizing exactly why he did what he did. Due to Z turning back time and Q giving him the question mark gem to let him change the past, he ends up saving F. While he loses a majority of his friends, he keeps F company, and thus F doesn't go down the path of villainy, while N doesn't end up having PTSD from his failed attempts to protect F.
  • Everyone Has Standards: N still wants to help the other letters even after they turned against him and is disgusted when F callously refuses to help them.
  • Extreme Doormat: As a child, he doesn't attempt to fight in defense of his friend F after the "Frick" prank goes too far, and ends up having to side with L, M, and O when confronted. Once given the chance to fix things when time turns back, he defies this.
  • Grew a Spine: After initially failing to stand up for F, he is sent back in time and takes the stand bodly. Then in Number Lore, he goes to help save X when F tries to make him stay.
  • Guilt-Induced Nightmare: Has one after witnessing the deaths of C and P, because his cowardice lead to their demise as well as F's Start of Darkness.
  • History Repeats: F enjoying L and O's pain brings N flashbacks of F killing C. And when F refuses to go with N to help the other letters, N is forced to abandon him once again.
  • Morality Pet: He becomes one for F in the current timeline. F is still very spiteful of the other letters and N is really the only one he shows any kindness towards. Unfortunately, N still fails to convince him to help the others and must sadly leave him again.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Considering he's the one who refused to stick up for F, he shows more sorrow and guilt than the other letters; his eyes seemingly on the verge of tearing up as he looks at F's lifeless body.
  • Only Friend: Becomes this to F in the epilogue, being the sole letter to stand up for him. F in turn befriends N and wants nothing to do with the other letters.
  • Punished for Sympathy: In the epilogue where time turns back and N chooses to stand up for the beaten-up F, L and O beat N up along with F. However, knowing what would've come if N didn't stand up for F, N has little to no regret for his sympathy.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Sensitive guy to M's manly man.
  • Shrinking Violet: He's pretty shy.
  • Stealth Pun: He's cowardly and a sort of orangish-gold; in other words, he's yellow both figuratively and literally. Additionally, his super form both has a tilde on it and a Hispanic accent of some sort. He has an accent in more ways than one.
  • The Tooth Hurts: In the epilogue, N gets his teeth knocked out when O beats him up. This sticks to the present day.
  • Transformation Trinket: In his Super Form, he gains a tilde and becomes an Ñ, even speaking in a Hispanic accent.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Was once part of F's friend group before being peer-pressured into leaving him. In the epilogue, however, he goes back in time and stands up for F, thus keeping his friendship with him, but not with the other letters in their former group.

    O

The fifteenth letter of the alphabet. He is one of the original bullies that started F's Start of Darkness. Even in the present, he shows no remorse to whoever he hurts. He holds the colon gem, which can conjoin multiple letters and/or numbers together when used.
  • Ambiguously Gay: He noticeably blushes when L inserts himself into his hole.
  • Bizarre Alien Locomotion: He gets around by rolling with his circular body.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Zigzagged: He's a superhero in the present day, but he's kind of a jerk towards N, and not only did he beat up F as a kid, he was one of the two who organized the prank that led to the others beating him up.
  • Cyclops: Only has one eye along with R and 1.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: The entire reason he and L turned everyone against F and unwittingly drove him to villainy? Because F pulled an embarrassing (but harmless) prank to get back at them for hurting N.
  • Expy: His blue color, Sailor Senshi Send-Up status, and closeness with L might remind some of Sailor Uranus. He’s even blue and round, just like the planet.
  • Fun with Homophones: He calls everyone to F (unknowingly pushed into) spelling "frick" as a kid with a schoolyard kid "oooooooh!"
  • Heel–Face Turn: He and L were bullies as kids, but are superheroes (albeit still kind of jerkish ones) as adults.
  • Jerkass to One: While he's a superhero, he and L beat up and abandoned N for losing his gem.
  • Karma Houdini: Despite him and L being the main reason F turned evil, they receive no proper comeuppance, other than F taking away their gems. Even in the retconned timeline, they still get away with hurting F and N, and still got their gems for attacking F.
  • Magnetism Manipulation: Of a sort. He has the colon gem, which can make letters attract other nearby letters to them.
  • Sudden Anatomy: When transformed, his mouth becomes normal and moves under his eye. His "hole" ends up just being there because he's an O.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: He becomes part of the vowel squad with E and I, who he used to bully when he was younger. And unlike L, he doesn't even seem to show any more hostility to F.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: He and L probably didn't think they'd turn F into a murderous kidnapper.

    P

Click for lowercase version.
The sixteenth letter of the alphabet and one of the very few female letters. She is one of the kindest letters and is also G's love interest, to the point where they eventually had a kid. She holds the exclamation point gem, which gives her the power of speed.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: She's pink and pretty.
  • Babies Ever After: Has a child with G by Number Lore.
  • Beauty Equals Goodness: One of the prettiest letters, and the kindest of not just the LMNOP squad, but of the letters as a whole.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me/Karmic Jackpot: In the retconned timeline, N cries out her exclamation mark gem, allowing her to keep it. Being the nicest of the LMNOP squad, and one of the kindest letters to N, safe to say she deserves it.
  • Character Death: G, N, and U mistake her for F, combine into a gun, and shoot her.
  • Commonality Connection: Once N loses his gem, she turns herself back to normal, before combining into a map. She resumes her superpowered form later once the group manages to get to F, though.
  • Good Counterpart: To F, as they both have ranged attacks (once F takes the period gem), they both look rather similar, and if F chewing on her flesh and blowing it like a piece of bubblegum is any indication, they're both made of sticky substances. The applications of their gems are opposite, though, as the period gem is used to freeze and the exclamation point gem is used to speed up. Rather fittingly, G, N, and U mistake her for F when F took a bite out of her, killing her.
  • Knee Fold Fall of Defeat: After G, N, and U shoot her after mistaking her for F, she collapses onto her "knees" (her body doesn't have any) before falling on the floor.
  • Mama Bear: Kind and sweet... mess with her child, though, and she'll make you regret it, as she (tried) to show 3.
  • Motor Mouth: She has the fastest dialogue of all the letters.
  • Nice Girl: She's encouraging to N, is friendly, and was one of the few letters that didn't beat up F when they were kids.
  • Official Couple: She and G were a couple as kids, with their affection carrying into the present day. They even get a child in Number Lore!
  • Pink Means Feminine: She's colored pink and has eyelashes and a feminine voice.
  • The Smurfette Principle: She is the only girl in the LMNOP squad.
  • Super-Scream: Her other exclamation point gem ability is that she can shoot sonic blasts from her mouth.
  • Super-Speed: The main ability the exclamation point gem gives her.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: She is the girly girl to Y's tomboy.

    Q

Click for lowercase version.
The seventeenth letter of the alphabet. Q was born with a disability that causes him to move slowly. Thanks to this, the other letters barely notice him. After obtaining the question mark gem (in the original series), Q saw into the future and the fate of F to come. As such, he chased the other letters around to no avail until everything was said and done.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Downplayed. Unlike with F, the other letters don't hate him; rather they don't even notice him because he's too slow to catch up with them.
  • Ascended Extra: He was a Chekhov's Gag in the first season who only revealed his place in the plot after F was defeated, but in Season 2 he makes his move far earlier and becomes a member of the main cast as a result.
  • Big "NO!": Parodied. When Q tries to save M, he shouts his name as if he was saying "NOOOOOO!"
  • The Cavalry Arrives Late:
    • Only finally unites with the group to inform them of the ? punctuation gem after F had been defeated. Subverted in the epilogue: giving N his punctuation gem when Z turned back time is what got N to prevent F from turning evil.
    • When he sees the calculator ship approaching Z, he starts moving to warn Y, M, X, and B. However, he is slow enough that when he finally arrives, all of the letters are uppercase and the ship has just arrived.
  • Chekhov's Gag: After his debut, Q would occasionally show up inexplicably after slowly slinking on-frame to shout his name after the action had passed. It turns out this was for a reason; he was trying to alert the rest of the letters about the information he learned from the ? punctuation gem. Unfortunately...
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Deconstructed. Due to his slow speed, he isn't able to actually assist anyone with the ? punctuation gem he obtained until after the events it prophesied had occurred.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Spends almost the entire series after his debut chasing after everyone. It turns out he knows much more than he lets on, and has been chasing everyone since they were children.
  • Eye on a Stalk: His eyeballs are two long, expressive stalks that enhance his sluggish appearance.
  • Foreshadowing: "Q" was the episode where the punctuation gems became a plot point beyond being the transformation trinkets of L, M, N, O, and P, with F taking the semicolon gem from N. Q ended up having a gem of his own, as revealed in "Y."
  • Funny Animal: Of a sort. He resembles a slug.
  • Irony: Despite being among the least-used letters in the alphabet, he serves one of the largest roles in the series.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Q is visibly shaken after seeing the visions from the ? punctuation gem as a lowercase letter, and his inflection only grows more frantic as he tries to reach the rest of the letters to no avail. By the time he's an uppercase letter, he seems to have mellowed out.
    • Again happens in "1", where he spots 1's calculator spaceship heading towards B, M, X, and Y and darts off (well, slowly) to warn them.
    • Happens yet again in "2". When Q spots 2 about to attack M, he tries to run in to block the attack while shouting a Big "NO!" only for his slow speed to get the best of him, and M is brutally beaten.
  • Seers: The ? gem gave him the powers to see into the future when he picked it up. It also allowed him to show what happened in the past to other letters.
  • Stealth Pun: He has the question mark gem.

    R
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/r_09.png
Click for lowercase version.
The eighteenth letter of the alphabet. He was used in four words, one behind A. He is the fifth part of F's plan.
  • Cyclops: Much like O and 1, he only has one eye.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He may not have liked F very much, but he is also not happy with L throwing the calculator ship right into F's mountain. He spells JERK behind L while giving him a Death Glare.
  • Expy: Of Rodney Dangerfield.
  • Getting Eaten Is Harmless: Is swallowed by F, but harmlessly coughed up later down the line.
  • Hypocrite: Gets mad at F for spelling "frick", despite being involved himself.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Has never been seen with a happy face, even as a lowercase letter.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Despite how little we see of him thanks to F's meddling, he was paramount in spelling all three words that directly impacted F's motives; friends, fart, and frick.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: His adult form is markedly less elaborated upon than his lowercase form, almost immediately getting kidnapped by F and only otherwise serving to spell "Coward" in N's nightmare sequence.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Was once part of F's friend group before turning on him for spelling "Frick".

The twentieth letter of the alphabet. He resembles a hammerhead shark, but is ironically good-natured. He was hammered into the ground by F after T hit him from behind when they were kids.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Gets hammered to the ground by F due to hitting him in the back as children.
  • Terrestrial Sea Life: He appears to be swimming through the ground.
  • Threatening Shark: Inverted. He looks like a hammerhead shark, but instead of a shark attack, he’s a shark UNDER attack! He was kinda mean towards F as a kid, though.
  • Visual Pun: Resembles a hammerhead shark, and is promptly hammered down like a nail by F.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Was this in Alphabet Lore. By the time he is on screen and said his name, he is quickly hammered into the ground by F and makes several cameos from there. In Number Lore, he fully returns unharmed.

    U
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/u_2.png
Click for lowercase version.
The twenty-first letter of the alphabet. U was approached by G and N to spell "GUN", which didn't go as planned.
  • Bizarre Alien Locomotion: Moves like a slinky.
  • Butt-Monkey: Is this in the AEIOU squad, he's never given a chance to speak. Not just that but the whole team abandons him (while I was taken by E forcefully).
  • Fun with Homophones: U's first line is "You?", spoken after being surprised by G and N.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: He was among the letters who shunned F as a kid, which he would come to regret in the epilogue.
  • Out of Focus: His lowercase counterpart only makes background cameos.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: The only thing we see of him after his debut is to spell the word "Gun". Despite his low screen time as a regular letter, he is directly linked to P's death as a result.
  • When He Smiles: He has hardly smiled once in the series, only smiling in the AEIOU sequence of "3" where A and E compete for the spotlight. However, his merchandise artwork shown here proves otherwise.

    V
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/v_22.png
Click for lowercase version.
The twenty-second letter of the alphabet. Like N, V has been shown to be cowardly. He helped the letters out, but ran away as soon as they arrived at F's cave. In Number Lore, it's revealed V can fly.
  • Break the Cutie: Happens very early. V debuts with a happy smile until a second later that smile turns upside down, leaving him traumatized for the rest of his appearances.
  • Equippable Ally: A uses him to fly.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • V doesn't look like the kind of letter who would get angry, but his lowercase self ganged up against F when he spelled "frick" accidentally.
    • He may not have been fond of F, but is still shocked when L threw the calculator ship into F out of spite.
  • Flight: Able to fly at high speeds utilizing his sides.
  • Lovable Coward: From what little we see of him, he appears to be this.
  • Out of Focus: His lowercase counterpart only makes background cameos.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: He chickens out once he, A, G, N, U, and M reach F's lair.
  • Stealth Pun: He vibrates with fear.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: In the Alphabet Lore timeline, he is never seen again after he ran away from F's cave. This doesn't include his lowercase self. He's seen again in Number Lore, though, acting as A's mount.

    W
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/w_3.png
Click for lowercase version.
The twenty-third letter of the alphabet. W is a pair of creepy Conjoined Twins with red eyes, completed with their debut being in a Guilt-Induced Nightmare.
  • Childish Tooth Gap: They both had this when they were children.
  • Conjoined Twins: They have two faces on their different halves.
  • Creepy Twins: What little we see of W involves them being present in a nightmare sequence for N.
  • Flat Characters: Since they only had little to no personal screen time, it's unknown if W is good-natured or not. N seems to view them as an enemy in his nightmare vision.
  • Out of Focus: While it's essential that only some letters have a true focus, W is noted for having overall the smallest role in Alphabet Lore. W's first appearance wasn't even physical, it was in N's imagination. W did not join the rest of the letters in the mission to stop F, nor did F have any threat against these twins. After W's debut, they were left with small background cameos for the remainder of the series.
  • Perpetual Frowner: As part of her creepy personality.
  • Pun: W is pronounced "double-you" and they're conjoined twins.
  • The Quiet One: W's only speaking role was in her debut episode, which was in a nightmare. Therefore, W has not canonically spoke on-screen.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Zigzagged. W isn't exactly a pair of villainesses, but has been viewed as such. W is noted for being the only letter with a different eye color (red) and being portrayed as creepy twins with their debut in a black background. N imagined them in his nightmare spelling "COWARD" with the other letters. W also got angry at F as a child, even though they haven't been shown beating him up.

    X
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/x_10.png
Click for lowercase version.
The twenty-fourth letter of the alphabet and the main protagonist of Number Lore. X resembles a Japanese Anime fighter, such as Goku. He has two ninja bands on his head and obtains the asterisk gem, which allows him to multiply into infinite clones of himself.
  • Animesque: He has this sort of design going on.
  • Ascended Extra: In his debut episode he was instantly killed, but in Number Lore he has become much more prominent and his asterisk gem was finally put to important use.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: A more subtle version than most other examples in this series: Both he and the asterisk gem he uses resemble shuriken, fitting with his ninja theme. In addition, the asterisk gem gives him the power to create copies of himself, and both X and asterisks are multiplication symbols.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: These go with his Animesque design.
  • Distressed Dude: Is captured by numbers and has his gem removed by force, leading the alphabet to go after the calculator ship to save him.
  • Honor Before Reason: He drops his asterisk gem (and F drops his punctuation gems) so they can have a fair fight... but then he gets chomped by F, who takes his gem.
  • Irony: He has a lot of Japanese influences, but the Japanese language doesn't even have the /ks/ sound, nor the letter X in its romanization.
    • Also, despite being one of the least used letters in the alphabet, he seems to be serving an important role in Season 2.
  • Kabuki Sounds: His leitmotif.
  • Leitmotif: He's represented by Japanese-sounding music.
  • Light Is Good: Zigzagged: He's white and is trying to stop F's rampage, but on the other hand, he was one of the kids who mistreated F. He actually beat the asterisk gem he uses out of F. Then again, he probably didn't know that F didn't mean to spell "frick," but still, beating someone up for saying a mild profanity...
  • Martial Arts Headband: He wears two of them.
  • McNinja: His accent sounds more Texan than Japanese.
  • Ninja: He seems to have this theme going on, what with his shuriken-shaped body and gem, duplication abilities, Martial Arts Headbands, kabuki-sounding leitmotifs, and Honor Before Reason tendencies.
  • Nonstandard Character Design: He has a vaguely anime-inspired design and is the only letter with eyebrows.
  • Purple Is Powerful: He has purple shading and the light purple asterisk gem, and he's a martial artist who can make copies of himself.
  • Self-Duplication: He has the asterisk gem and can use it to make copies of himself.
  • Stealth Pun: He has a perpetually angry-looking expression. He looks cross.
    • Had he succeeded in stopping F, him showing up would have been a Deus "X" Machina.

    Y

Click for lowercase version.
The twenty-fifth letter of the alphabet. Y is shown to be close to X, having mourned over his death in the original series. Y can also be used as a slingshot by X when fighting.

    Z
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/z_89.png
Click for lowercase version.
The last letter of the alphabet. Z is the entire world the letters live on. He wants the best for his inhabitants, as he mourns over F's Start of Darkness, and when everything is said and done, he reverts time back to the moment N had to make his decision after F was beaten up.
  • All-Powerful Bystander: He probably couldn't intervene without killing everyone on him, so all he could do was watch the tragedy unfold on top of him. In the end though, he ends up being part of the reason why the events of the series become retconned, subverting this. Subverted in Number Lore, where his moons crash into 1's calculator ship, preventing them from leaving.
  • Alphabet Architecture: Taken to the logical extreme; he's an alphabet planet! In addition to this, the F-shaped mountain that F resides in is right atop him.
  • Awaken the Sleeping Giant: He tears up again after seeing F and N fight over helping the other letters, once again creating the elipsis gems. He ends up using them to stop the numbers' escape.
  • Baby Planet: In a rather literal example. He was in lowercase form as well as all the other letters on him.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Turned back time with the ellipsis gem to allow N to try and stop the series' events to happen. This, along with Q giving N the question mark gem to keep his memories, ends up preventing the deaths that happened, and gives F and N a happy ending.
  • Body to Jewel: His tears become the ellipsis gem.
  • Genius Loci: He's the world the other letters live in.
  • Giant's Droplet, Human's Shower: His tears become moon-sized dots forming the ellipsis gem.
  • Heavy Voice: He's the biggest character in the series, being a planet and all, and he has a really deep voice.
  • History Repeats: After watching F and N break up once again in Number Lore, Z tears up as he did in the retconned timeline.
  • Irony: Despite being among the rarest letter in the alphabet, he serves one of the largest roles in the series.
  • Light Is Good: He's white and expresses sorrow at the tragic events unfolding on top of him. He's also one of the few letters that didn't beat up F as a kid (mostly because even if he tried, he'd probably end up killing F and all of the other letters due to being a literal planet.) and he's the homeworld for all the other letters. Not to mention being one of the reasons why N was able to go back in time and save everyone. He continues this in Number Lore, stopping 1's ship from escaping with his moons.
  • Melancholy Moon: Of a sort. His tears BECOME moons.
  • Papa Wolf: As the planet he is, he takes the most responsibility for the letters' lives. He uses his ellipse tears to stop the number ship from taking X!
  • Pun: His line of dialogue sounds like "Zee-end," both a play on how "the" sounds like "ze" in some accents (thus, "the end") and on Z's two English pronunciations, "zee" and "zed."
  • Sculpted Physique: He looks like he's made of marble, though the epilogue shows that he wasn't always like this hinting that he gained this pattern as he aged.
  • Time Master: Uses the ellipsis gem to turn back time as well as allowing Q to give the ? gem to N, passing the knowledge to N's younger self about what will happen.
  • Visual Pun: His mouth resembles a zipper and he sleeps at the end of the epilogue. In other words, he's catching some Zs.
  • Weird Moon: He has what appears to be a set of ellipsis gems that orbit around him.
  • World Shapes: He's a planet shaped like the letter Z.

Numbers

    Overall
  • Alien Abduction: The Number Lore arc involves them kidnapping X with their spaceship and fighting the other letters.
  • Anthropomorphic Typography: Just like the letters, except they're numbers.
  • Big Bad: All the numbers are this in the Number Lore series.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: The numbers notably act very goofy, but despite this, they are able to capture X with their advanced technology, and they have abilities that outperform the letters.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": The numbers' names are numbers, just like the letters.
  • Evil Counterpart: To the letters.
  • Higher-Tech Species: They appear to have much more advanced technology compared to the letters, whose only form of technology comes from themselves morphing into things.
  • One-Gender Race: Given how females are obscure in Alphabet Lore media, no female numbers have been introduced yet.
  • Pokémon Speak: Again, like the letters, they only say their names.
     1
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1_004.png
The first numerical number. He is a dimwitted cyclops with tricks always up his sleeve. He arrives on Planet Z to steal X. He notably creates a clone of himself after stealing X's gem.
  • Ambiguously Gay: He and his clone blush when they both touch the launch button on the ship together.
  • Cloud Cuckoolander: Shows this side of himself frequently despite taking his job seriously.
  • Cyclops: Like O and R, he only has one eye.
  • Laughably Evil: His Muppet-esque mouth, self-absorbed but ditzy attitude, and comical reactions contrast against F being much more serious.
  • Muppet: Has a Muppet-like mouth whenever he talks. His face also scrunches in a similar way to Kermit the Frog.
  • Older Hero vs. Younger Villain: Inverted. 1 already appears to be an adult when he starts heading towards Z. By this time, all the letters are children (lowercase) and reach adulthood (capitals) when 1 finally lands his ship.
  • Robo Cam: Once 1 exits the spaceship, he manifests a hi-tech visor to look for X, and the other letters identified by the visor briefly flash in wireframe and also have their names displayed in binary code. The visor is also able to point out the location of X for 1.
  • Screw Yourself: Subverted. Upon cloning himself with X's gem, 1 and his clone push a button at the same time. They look at each other, blushing and giggling. However, M stops their ship before anything else could happen.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: 1 acted like he was in pain when he was beaten up by Y, X, M, and B, boarding his calculator ship in the process, but returns back and uses it to kidnap X.

     2
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2_999.png
The second numerical number. He was summoned by 1 and his clone (after stealing X's gem) to stop the letters from preventing them to take off with X.
  • Abnormal Ammo: His own teeth are his ammunition and he can grow a new set as quickly as firing the old ones.
  • Animal Motifs: Has a horn like a rhinoceros and teeth similar to rodents.
  • The Dragon: He was created by 1, attacking the letters to stop them from saving X.
  • Evil Laugh: Has one at the end of his episode after injuring the letters a lot.
  • Foe-Tossing Charge: Delivers a brutal one to Y.
  • Horn Attack: Uses his horn for charging attacks.
  • Stealth Pun: 2 attacks by firing a tooth (twoth) from his mouth. And how many teeth does he have? That's right, 2!
  • Would Hit a Girl: He had no problem stabbing Y with his horn.

     3
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_7342.png
The third numerical number. He was created by 1 & 2 after 1's calculator ship crash-lands into Z. 3 is more powerful than 1 and 2 combined, with the ability to shoot fire beams and forcefully grab with his long, blue tongue. He contains traits from a frog and a dragon.
  • Amphibian Assault: A frog-like alien, with the tongue and eyes to match... and also with the ability to shoot out fire.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: His blue tongue and yellow eyes are the same as the colors of 1 and 2 respectively, and 1+2=3.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology: Already having strange differences from the letters and even his fellow numbers with his yellow eyes and blue tongue, when he swallows someone, they don't get digested; rather, they get pooped out nigh-instantly, trapped inside of some sort of bouncy cube-like waste.
  • Breath Weapon: Emits what appears to be fire from his mouth.
  • The Dragon: Like 2, he was created as an assisting Big Bad for the letters, and coincidentally has dragon-like abilities.
  • Hellish Pupils: His pupils are diamond shaped, befitting his villainous appearance and personality.
  • Multipurpose Tongue: He can use his tongue to grab on to whoever he feels like and either toss or swallow them.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Yellow eyes, diamond pupils and a long, blue tongue are firsts for the Alphabet Lore series.
  • Overly-Long Tongue: His tongue is long enough to catch J and K several feet away in the air
  • Playing with Fire: Able to shoot a stream of fire from his mouth, which rivals I & J's pip in sheer power.
  • Red Is Violent: He is red and the most intimidating number that the letters have fought yet.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Has a high-pitched voice that contrasts with his threatening appearance.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Tosses Baby g into the sky after the tot attempts to fight back.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Slams K into the ground and forcefully grabs P and traps her in a yellow cube.
  • Yellow Eyes of Sneakiness: Has some, in contrast to every other letter.
