some tropes

for Impel Down

  • The Alcatraz: It's the One Piece world's best prison. The only ones able to escape are Shiki, who had to sacrifice his own legs, and Luffy, with the help of many strong allies and lots of luck.
  • Circles of Hell: While Impel Down is not exactly hell, it's based off the Inferno from [1], which codifies this trope, and every level has a different kind of torture.
  • Hellhole Prison: This prison is one of the worst portrayed in fiction, with only the toughest prisoners able to endure the terryfying tortures without going crazy or wishing to die. Considering how some of the staff members are dressed like devils and the levels are like Circles of Hell, it's the closest it can get to a literal example of the trope.

for Minozebra

for Batman (no, not that one XD)

  • Vertebrate with Extra Limbs: His bat wings don't grow on his arms, but become a third pair of limbs.
  • Winged Humanoid: Has a pair of bat wings that grow from his butt and are strong enough to allow him to fly, despite being quite fat.
  • Would Hit a Girl: If Zoro hadn't intervened, he would've hit Kiku with an arrow.

for Gazelleman

  • Stocking Filler: A rare male (and non crossdressing) example. Gazelleman wears a pair of fishnet stocking on his legs.
  • Super-Speed: Gazelles are known for being very fast animals, so his gazelle SMILE has given him the ability to run at high speed. However, he lacks the endurance to keep up his speed for a long distance.
  • Top-Heavy Guy: The top half of his body is very large, while his legs are as skinny as those of a gazelle.

Freudian Excuse: Misty has a fear of Gyarados because she was nearly swallowed by one as a toddler. Additionally, her aggressive attitude early on in the series (especially towards Ash) was implied to be due to her living in the shadow of her older sisters.

some tropes

for Doflamingo

  • Status Quo Is God: Discussed and defied multiple times in his speeches, claiming a big war will shake and change the world. Of course, Doflamingo himself isn't a fan of this trope because [[spoiler: of his past as former celestial dragon, that causes him to hate the current status and balance of the world and want to destroy it].
  • A Storm Is Coming: In his appearances, he often makes speeches about a war that will destroy the current world and bring a new age. Ironically, as he himself says in his rants, it's his own defeat that sparks the beginning of said war.

folder:Chouchou]]

After the timeskip, Chouchou has opened his own pet shop with the mayor.

  • Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: He's drawn in a very cartoonish style and, after becoming the owner of the new pet shop, he wears a bow tie.
  • Angry Guard Dog: Downplayed. For the most part he remains quiet, but gets angry if someone tries to do something to his owner's shop.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: After Luffy avenges Chouchou by defeating Ritchie and Mohji, and earns the dog's loyalty, Chouchou repays the favour by helping Luffy, Zoro and Nami escape from the angry citizens.
  • Expy: His extreme loyalty and refusing to move from his owner's shop even after the death of his owner is clearly inspired by Hachiko.
  • Determinator: When Mohji orders Ritchie to destroy the pet shop, Chouchou keeps attacking the lion despite the latter being far stronger, and stops only after being terribly mangled.
  • Made of Iron: Even though he's just a normal dog, he survives being maimed by Ritchie, a giant lion.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Literally! Mohji burns down his beloved owner's pet shop, and at the end of the arc, when the citizens of Orange Town chase away the Buggy Pirates, since their captain has been sent away, Chouchou gets a taste of revenge and bites Mohji's butt.
  • Undying Loyalty: He remains loyal to his master even after his death, and only stops guarding the pet shop once Mohji destroys it.
  • Swallow the Key: In his first appearance, he swallows the key to Luffy's cage, much to the latter's anger. Luffy manages to escape thanks to Ritchie destroying the cage.

  • What Could Have Been: Rick and Morty
    • An alternate scene for [[/watch?v=96Dd_CKzAoE "Rick Potion #9"]] has alternate Rick and Morty explode into pieces unlike in the completed episode. Rick also has to scrape his s*** off of the ceiling.
    • An episode where Morty has to enter Jessica's bloodstream in an attempt to save her from an injury was [[ /67767694 storyboarded]], but not produced for unknown reasons. "Anatomy Park" was probably inspired by this episode.
    • Season 3 was originally supposed to consist of 14 episodes until production issues made them cut it down to 10. Dvd Commentary revealed a lot of unused plans for season 3:
      • The original idea for "Vindicators 3 The Return Of World Ender", was Rick and a girlfriend sleeping with a superhero. The B-plot of this story that was cut was Morty wanting to revisit the power suit from the episode "Look Who's Purging Now" because he has a crush on a Vindicator that was cut out of the episode, Arrowgirl/Quiver, who matures into Arrowwoman. The power suit gets upgraded with an AI. Morty, the AI and Arrowgirl/Quiver would have a love triangle that ends with Arrowgirl/Quiver choosing the suit because Morty could not keep up with her sexually. More scrapped members of the Vindicators include: Dr. Reach, the man with stretching powers; siamese twins, where one was very fit and attractive, and the other one wasn't; and a knitting grandma. At one point the Vindicators all had sidekicks. Million Ants' sidekick was named Three Ants, and Morty and the sidekicks save the day. Another storyline was a Pneumatic tube that move's Worldender's body.
      • The original idea for "The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy" was for Rick and Jerry to go to this bar and bond over a fake adventure they make up, then a real adventure happens. Then the writers come up with the idea of a immortality resort.
      • The original idea for "Rest And Ricklaxation" was this concept called Shallow Morty. That there was this evil version of Morty that was floating around and haunting him. Also Jessica originally had a bigger role in this episode and even split her positive and negative personality.
      • "The Ricklantis Mixup" was originally going to be 21 short stories about the Citadel. Originally the Rick that runs the Citadel was going to be the Rick in the garage scene in "The Rickshank Redemption". Slick Morty was going to be shown alive on a garbage pile on a planet that Rick refuses to leave a tip on.
      • "Morty's Mind Blowers" originally was going to show a memory where Rick was with baby Morty, and as he leaves Summer sees him and tells her parents she saw an old man.
      • In "The AB Cs of Beth", originally Tommy was going to think he was Beth.
      • "The Rickchurian Mortydate" was not originally going to be the season 3 finale, but when the season was cut down from 14 episodes to 10 episodes, it was re-written as the finale.
  • Word of Gay:
    • Rick Sanchez has been confirmed to be pansexual by creator Justin Roiland. However, it's downplayed in Rick's case because his pansexuality was eventually revealed on screen in the episode "Auto Erotic Assimilation".
    • Stacy from the episode "Rest And Ricklaxation" is confirmed to be either 22 or 23 years old. Also, it was confirmed that Morty unconsciously left his phone on.
    • The US president in "The Rickchurian Mortydate" guesses that he was dealing with the same Rick but decides to play dumb for the sake of his ego.

The original idea for "Rest And Ricklaxation" was this concept called Shallow Morty, <- comma That which was this evil version of Morty that was floating around and haunting him. Also, <- comma Jessica originally had a bigger role in this episode and even split into positive and negative personalities.

Originally, <- comma the Rick that runs the Citadel was going to be the Rick in the garage scene in "The Rickshank Redemption".

"Morty's Mind Blowers" originally was going to show a memory where Rick was with baby Morty, and as he leaves, <- comma Summer sees him and tells her parents she saw an old man.

In "The ABCs of Beth", originally Tommy was going to think he was Beth.

  • Persona: Be Your True Mind by Shinshu Ueda:
    • Takahisa Kandori is just as brilliant and slighty more altruist than his game counterpart. President of the Japanese branch of SEBEC, Kandori—influenced for the shadow Nyarlathotep—creates the DEVA system, intending to use it to become God and judge humanity to—in his mind—save the world. Using Maki Sonomura for his experiments, Kandori causes her identity to split and befriends Aki, the personification of Maki's vengeful side, eventually treating her as his adoptive daughter. Using Aki, Kandori starts his rise to godhood, dragging his own city to a bizarre dimension created for Maki's subconscious mind. Keeping himself above all the attempts of the heroes to stop him, Kandori eventually suceeds in reaching godhood before doubting his own actions in a philosophical speech before Nyarlathotep takes control of him. Ruthless yet philosophical and capable of loving a shadow as his own daughter, Kandori manages to take advantage from Nyarlathotep's defeat and die as himself, apologizing for his actions and helping the heroes as much as he could, telling them the truth behind Maki Sonumura, asking her to confront her real self and avoid suffering the same fate as him.
    • Exclusive from this manga adaptation, Kazuya Toudou is the ghost of Naoya's long-deceased brother. Actually Naoya's shadow born from his guilt at the death of his brother, Kazuya allies with the powerful Aki with the intention of killing Naoya and take his place to become a living human. Constantly following him, Kazuya tricks Naoya's friends into believing that he was him while driving Naoya away from them, aids Aki into driving Chisato Kasai into despair before trying to convince Aki to kill her while being impressed at her negative answer and saves Eriko Kirishima from Kandori himself out of amusement and subconscious affect. Being betrayed for a broken and revengeful Aki despite their friendship, Kazuya is forgiven for Naoya, with them mutually accepting each other. Sarcastic and always ready with a trick to overcome all odds, Kazuya truly was Naoya's most personal foe.

  • Persona: Takahisa Kandori is the ambitious president of SEBEC's branch in his natal Mikage-cho. Having ordered the creation of the DEVA system intending to use it to become God, Kandori ends up manifesting Mani Sonomura's mind into the entire town. Befriending Aki, the manifestation of Maki's rage, and manipulating her into trusting him, Kandori uses her to sucessfully archieve his goal of godhood. Confronted for the heroes, Kandori admits being dissapointed at realizing the hollowness of his victory, asking the heroes for their reasons for fighting and even planning to return everything to normality until he's insulted. Accepting his defeat gracefully, Kandori admits that he desired being defeated for the heroes before telling them the truth about Maki and dying peacefully after asking them to save her from suffering the same fate as himself. Resurrected for Nyarlathotep years later, Kandori is forced to aid the New World Order, becoming one of its most effective members despite his lack of interest and dying again alongside a beloved NWO coworker while showing regret for his actions. A mere human that managed to become God and whose studies outlasted him, Takahisa Kandori stands out as a ruthless genius in the series.
