I just had a look at Awesome.Power Rangers Dino Fury, and I'm not sure if it's all cut-worthy.

  • Dino Fury has the first AND second female Greens in the Power Rangers franchise. Too meta. Easy cut.
  • The episodes up to and including episode 4 were particularly well received by the fandom. Too broad. Easy cut.
  • Episode 5 has a guest role from Sarah Dalton, a real-life Special Olympian with CHARGE syndrome. The character is treated no differently than anyone else, and the episode never falls into Very Special Episode or Inspirationally Disadvantaged territory—instead of Izzy needing to learn An Aesop about respecting people with intellectual disabilities, the respect is there from the start and the misunderstanding they have easily could have occurred between two abled characters. Instead, Power Rangers sought out a disabled athlete for the purpose of representation. This is the one I'm the most reluctant to cut. It's it's more specific and fleshed-out than the run-of-the-mill "good work good" misuse. Maybe I could move it under episode 5's subheading?
  • Episode 8 shows off amazing Worldbuilding by having the Nexus Prism being connected to the Morphing Masters and shows off how they had a hand in nearly ever Power Rangers season and being implied to have revived Steel and Kendrix. Not sure.

[up] Not sure about the "Winning Attitude" example since it is sweet that they had an actor with CHARGE syndrome play a character with the same thing, especially since it's more detailed, but at the same time it doesn't seem like it has anything to do with the episode itself and is just an interesting note about Disabled Character, Disabled Actor. Maybe move it under the episode's subheading for the time being unless further discussion is asked.

As for the Morphin Masters example, I'm leaning towards keeping it as it is about an In-Universe event and what retroactively happened throughout the franchise, if what Zayto said about them always being there for the Rangers is to be believed.

I moved the remaining two DF meta entries under their respective episodes for now.

Awesome.Power Rangers SPD has another easy cut:

  • Meta: For the episode “Reflection,” the producers actually had the foresight to make Sky wear glasses for his eyes. It’s impressive they considered every little detail to remember that your eyes are able to show (minor) reflections.

That's not a moment of awesome. That's attention to detail.

I found this on Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers while editing Older Than They Think:

  • Fans of Voltron will try and invoke this trope with respect to MMPR's use of Combining Mecha, which Voltron (1984) used first (Super Sentai started using the 5-unit combination in 1987). Whilst Zyuranger's (1992-3) mecha design was meant as a tribute to GoLion (1980), the actual trope goes back to Getter Robo in 1974.

Aside from the fact that YMMV tropes are not supposed to be played with, none of the anime mentioned have anything to do with Power Rangers aside from having Combining Mecha. Can this be cut?

So since Megaforce is on Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining, I thought I'd take a look at its entry on StockFootageFailure.Power Rangers. It's not as wall-of-texty as it used to be, but this paragraph is still pretty complainy:

Super Megaforce managed to turn this into an art form. On top of not explaining why female yellows from the original Saban era have skirts now, since those characters were female, the producers never cared about replacing (at least most the time) stock footage of unadapted Sentai teams present in the Gokaiger stock footage. However, they seem to do it especially selectively, as it appears they wanted to remove pre-mid 80s teams due to the difference in suit materials shifting more to spandex after the first several years. In episode 13, this came as a double whammy, when before a commercial break, we see four of the suits from Dengeki Sentai Changeman, then after the commercial break, Troy's inexplicably the red ranger from Hikari Sentai Maskman, since they excluded the footage of Marvelous changing to it from the original Gokaiger episode.

What explanation did they want the show to give for the skirts? I think this could be trimmed down to the bare point — that they sometimes leave pre-Zyu teams in — but I can't think of how to word it.

Maybe simply

The series features suits from various Super Sentai series that were not adapted, such as Changeman with a Handwave of them being "powers ever before seen on this planet”.

Simple and to the point.

I changed it to:

Super Megaforce used some footage of the Gokaigers changing into certain unadapted Sentai teams from the 80s and 90s.note  Gosei Hand Waves this by calling them "new powers never before seen on this Earth".

Someone added a COVID shoehorn to Fridge.Power Rangers Dino Fury:

  • The Sporix came around at a time when the real world is still dealing with an infestation of sorts to say the least.

Because COVID-19 is well known for making rubber-suited monsters appear all over Auckland...? A comparison that only works in vague terms isn't a comparison.

[up] Definitely cut. The Sporix act much more like any other Monsters of the Week rather than a health pandemic.

Yeah, really cut that. Not only is it a shoehorn, but a somewhat tasteless one at that.

I've already cut it.

Also, I've mentioned this before, but should I start a Super Sentai cleanup? All my knowledge of it is second-hand, but the pages for series from after TV Tropes was made are filled with Mythology Gag entries that list every vague similarity to a previous Sentai or Kamen Rider series, Most Wonderful Sound entries that list every sound the toys make, natter, indentation issues...

I found this on Samus Is a Girl for Live-Action TV:

  • Power Rangers S.P.D.: The Red Ranger of the SPD A-Squad, whose true appearance isn't shown until just before the finale. Double points for having the Tomboyish Name Charlie. This actually caused a bit of a stir on the Rangerboard forum: one member, being an expert in digital voice manipulation, guessed — and posted — that he thought A-Squad Red was a girl. Then comes the reveal, and he was not. Modest. At. All. He ended up printing a t-shirt of Charlie that said "I was right!" and got several SPD cast and crew members to sign it.
  • They tried pulling this off again in RPM with Dr. K (key word being tried), but it failed for two big reasons: One, the voice distortion she used still sounded too feminine, and two, a trailer that got leaked showed a girl with the label Dr. K.

Both examples, while valid, proceed to go off about stuff that doesn't qualify in the show itself. SPD talking about what happened in real life, and RPM stating how they failed the trope even though I don't think that's what examples are to be used for. Alright if I rewrite?

There's quite a long Author's Saving Throw entry on YMMV.Power Rangers Beast Morphers. A good chunk of these are "New show does this but better"

I'm not kidding when I say this is long.
  • Author's Saving Throw:
    • After the backlash against Go-Busters being skipped in 2013, as well as ToQger having been skipped over for Ninninger, the fandom rejoiced when the former Sentai was announced to be adapted as Power Rangers Beast Morphers for the 26th season.
    • Bandai of Japan's Go-Buster-Oh toy was notorious for very oddly designed and proportioned legs, while Great Go-Buster's arms were seen as far too short in proportion to the body. Not only do the new American molds made by Hasbro remedy both problems, the Beast-X Megazord (at least) has articulated elbows not necessitated by the transformation, something toy collectors have wanted but rarely ever gotten (it helps that Hasbro's had years of experience when it comes to giant robot toys while Bandai of Japan's years of experience are in giant robot plastic models).
    • Comic relief characters in this franchise (sans Bulk and Skull who set a very high bar) can either be a hit or a miss. This season, we have Ben and Betty, who are considered a massive improvement over the previous season's duo Victor and Monty. Though the Burkes were clearly meant to satisfy Saban’s obligatory slapstick needs, their characters are also serving alongside the Rangers, which allows them to be weaved into a plot without causing unnecessary distractions. Also, whereas Victor and Monty were always depicted as being entirely self-serving (with the exception of Super Ninja Steel's finale), Ben and Betty are generally portrayed as goofy but well-meaning characters who at least try to help the Rangers.
      • It should also be noted that none of Ben and Betty's antics involve any fart jokes like the ones that made Victor and Monty infamous among fans, making the former two more popular.
    • During the Neo-Saban era, every episode would begin with a 15-30 second opening narration, which some viewers found unnecessary. This show has ditched the opening narrations.
    • Rather than play the rangers' weaknesses (Red freezing when seeing a certain animal, Blue going wild when expending too much energy at once, and Yellow running out of energy) for bad comedic relief, it's played instead for drama, which fixes the Mood Whiplash that early Go-Busters had at times, being more serious all around in its first half.
    • The Anvilicious "moral of the week" themes have been drastically toned down compared with previous seasons, with most episodes instead focusing on story and character development. There are still moral lessons present, but they aren't the primary focus of the episodes and don't feel like they're being forced upon the viewer.
      • Also the moral lessons tend to be a bit more complex and less black-and-white. "Tools of the Betrayed," for example, teaches us not to lie, while simultaneously driving home the message that we shouldn't let an innocent lie destroy our trust in each other. "Game On!" makes a clear distinction between cheating in a video game versus exploiting an enemy's vulnerability in a real life battle, thereby avoiding the Clueless Aesop problem that the Ninja Steel episode "Live and Learn" fell into.
      • "The Blame Game" acknowledges of the problems presented in Super Ninja Steel's "Sheriff Skyfire" by the presenting the problems when those with authority become increasingly strict and enforce unreasonable punishments for minor offenses, by having Steel, a heroic character, learn the consequences of victimizing people and ultimately having him apologize to a Grid Battleforce employee he fired (with Shaw's authority) once it was revealed that said employee's actions were the result of a situation he could not control.
    • The acting on the show is generally considered to be a substantial improvement over the Neo-Saban seasons.
    • One frequent complaint about the Neo-Saban seasons was the tendency for characters to narrate the obvious. While this is understandable given that Power Rangers is a kid's show, older fans felt the show was treating its audience like idiots. Beast Morphers gets around this by assigning most of these lines to Steel, and making it part of his personality.
    • There is no Ranger-exclusive Megazord cockpit armor, which had been an unfortunate staple for most of the Neo-Saban era. In fact, Hasbro recreated the Go-Busters cockpit so accurately that it's almost impossible to tell it apart from stock footage.
    • After five years of the same Make My Monster Grow method (a laser shot from space), fans were relieved that the method this time is something different (in this case, aping Go-Busters and creating a giant version of the monster that's different from the normal monster and can even attack at the same time).
    • The premise of the Halloween special seems quite similar to Ninja Steel's, which is to have a member of the team not participating in what the rest of the team is doing, and by singling themselves out, they manage to save the rest of their team from the plot of the week. In the previous season, this falls into Clueless Aesop as Levi is portrayed to be in the wrong for not wanting to join his friends in playing a board game, something he's not into. In this season, the team bonding is shown to be just binge watching some horror movies, with the costume party aspect being secondary. Thus, Devon doesn't come off as selfish for not dressing up. Moreover, his personality and love for video games make for a better and more natural reason as to why he caves in and joins in the dressing up, as he sees it more as cosplaying.
    • Messiah is a rather bland and boring villain who was more or less completely overwhelmed in popularity and competence by Enter. Evox on the other hand is a more patient and smarter villain which truly cements his position as the Big Bad.
      • In addition, Evox is a far more menacing and active Big Bad than certain other recent PR villains (i.e. Galvanax and Master Xandred). And for a good reason, too: He is a reincarnation of Venjix, one of the darkest, most dangerous villains in Power Rangers history.
    • A lot of folks are relieved that the second season is not called "Super Beast Morphers".
    • The revelation on that Evox is actually Venjix is this to fans of RPM who feared that the show's The End... Or Is It? cliffhanger would never be resolved, given that it wasn't acknowledged in Super Megaforcenote  and Super Ninja Steelnote .
    • The second half of Season Two can be described by fans as Super Megaforce but better. It brings up previous plot threads, respects its material, have old rangers return and make a difference in the plot. It even integrated the adaptation of Gavan Type-G better than Super Megaforce's Sentai-only rangers.

I found this in Power Rangers Turbo:

This is just complaining about an oversight regarding the B-plot with Bulk and Skull being turned into chimps, the trope's not even YMMV. Could it be salvaged into the main page as an Artistic License – Biology, keep the trope name but rewritten, or just deleted entirely? I ask because it's been a while since I've seen the season and I don't remember if they called them chimps or monkeys. I'm assuming the later but I would like to know for sure.
