Noticed that Shonen Hair is...quite bad. Giving it a thorough scrub.

However, there's only so much I can do, as most of the "good" examples are still just "character has spiky hair". Fine if that's the trope. Not so fine if the character is supposed to fit the personality type as well.

Edit: Page is done. Managed to bork up the page, but I also managed to fix it.

Bishōnen is a zero-context example magnet. I commented out most of the first folder before getting bored. There are only so many ways to say "This character is pretty".

I brought this up over in Ask The Tropers and was redirected here. The video games subpage of Keep Circulating the Tapes has a folder of Atari examples that are either too brief, zero context examples, or unprofessionally written. Personally, I think the Atari section needs a clean-up very badly. Unfortunately, I am not very knowledgeable on Atari games so I can’t really do much to clean it. If there’s anyone with more knowledge on the subject, I’d gladly appreciate some help.

The No Ordinary Family character page looks kinda bad. I've fixed the spoilered-out trope names, but I'm not knowledgable enough on the show to flesh out examples.

I attempted a rewrite of the ZCE page here. Thoughts?

[up]That looks pretty good.

~XFllo commented out this example I added to Innocent Blue Eyes with the edit reason "needs more context". I thought I explained it well enough; is the problem that I explained a trope using another trope? How could I make it acceptable?

[down]I realize now that XFllo replaced "these" with "blue eyes" as she commented it out.

Thanks, just so you know, we're discussing it here.

As for that, I think you just need to replace "these" with "his blue eyes".

I think the Innocent Blue Eyes entry is a little shoehorn-y, TBH. The trope description says "Innocent "baby blues" or clear, pure and shining, these eyes are blue to symbolize youth, naïveté, inexperience, and purity of soul." Ben Grimm's a nice enough guy, but I don't know that any of that really describes him.

[up]Maybe the "purity of soul" part, but even that is Depending on the Writer. I would remove it.

I'd like to hear XFllo's opinion. Does typing a tilde and their handle send the troper a PM directing them to this thread ("[troper] would like to call your attention to this...")?

I got the PM. I'm not here all the time though. Let ne explain.

I don't think that saying that a character is also an example of another trope is sufficient, helpful context. Gentle Giant is its own thing, an independent trope that also requires some explanation, you know?

I'm not familiar with the work, so I don't know whether it's a shoehorn or just an insufficiently explained example.

My two cents.

If others think it's fine as it is, then ok. I could live with that. smile

Much of Horror Doesn't Settle for Simple Tuesday is work names with literally no further text.

How exactly is Cheryl an example of this trope?

I cutlisted VideoGame.Tinhead and Trivia.Tinhead due to a lack of context for the examples. The pages' creator was brought up in this ATT query.

I just went through and scrubbed Greek Chorus. Many of the examples have "this trope"-type wording, which isn't ideal, but if they included sufficient context to explain how the trope applies I left them visible.

I felt like suffering, so I took a chainsaw to Horror Doesn't Settle for Simple Tuesday. My hand hurts after 30 minutes of straight Ctrl+V action. Cleaned up a bit of formatting on some of the examples I left visible, but for the most part I just zapped the ones with no context. I also deleted a couple of entries which explicitly said that the holiday had nothing to do with the plot of the work cited.

The page has a lot of empty-seeming folders left, wherein all of the examples were ZCE—should something be done about that?

All of the examples on Inkblot Cartoon Style are ZCEs of the "this is this" variety. I can't comment them out because then the page would be a stub. What do?

Rubber-Hose Limbs also has a lot of ZCEs - though there do seem to be some passable examples.
