aka: Shippuu Tengoku Kaze No Klonoa

A short manga loosely based on the Klonoa game series, titled Shippuu Tengoku Kaze no Klonoa and created by Hiroshi Katou, ran in CoroCoro Comic for the equivalent of two volumes. Although it borrows many characters, settings, and plot devices from the games, it's largely a Gag Series that depicts Klonoa as a well-intentioned Idiot Hero, trying to solve problems in the most slapstick way possible. Not surprisingly, it never officially made it out of Japan.

The manga contains examples of the following tropes:

• Balloon-Bursting Bird: Near the end of Volume 1, Chapter 2, Klonoa realizes that he inflated nearly every building in town trying to hit the runaway Armored Moo with a wind bullet. Then a bird flies by and pecks at a bag of breadcrumbs Klonoa taped to the Moo earlier to track it... deflating it and setting off a chain reaction that destroys the entire town.
• Call of the Wild Blue Yonder: The entirety of Volume 1, Chapter 3 is spent on Klonoa trying to learn how to fly, as a couple of Airborne Mooks told him that heroes have to be able to fly. He eventually finds an… unconventional method of doing so.
• Counting Sheep: In Volume 1, Chapter 5, Klonoa suggests that Emperor Jillius do this to fall asleep easier. It doesn't work, even when he reaches 165,478,325,693,261,541 sheep.
• The Ditz/Idiot Hero: Klonoa is considerably dumber here than he is in the original games.
• Honest Axe: Referenced in Volume 1, Chapter 6. After Klonoa and Moo throw Guntz's comically-large revolver into a lake, a mirror spirit appears and offers the wolf the choice of a gold axe or a silver axe. When Guntz asks for his iron gun back, the spirit gives him both axes for his honesty. Guntz, however, throws them back, demanding his gun back instead.
  Mirror Spirit: Fine... have this! [angrily chucks the gun back at Guntz, who is smacked by it]
• Invincible Minor Minion: Like in the games, Spiker is a small black creature that is immune to all attacks... which makes Guntz being able to shoot one down in Volume 1, Chapter 6 all the more impressive.
• Mascot Mook: The Moos, as usual. One of them even becomes Klonoa's sidekick here instead of Huepow.
• Nice Job Breaking It, Rivals!: Volume 2, Chapter 3 features Klonoa and Guntz searching for a wanted burglar. All the while, they're fighting over who gets to turn him in and get the reward money, allowing said burglar to escape on several occasions because of it. And once they do catch the burglar, they continue to fight while running off with the burglar and his stolen goods... branding themselves as burglars by doing so.
• Piranha Problem: Klonoa invokes this trope in Volume 1, Chapter 5 in an attempt to stay awake until midnight. He stands on a stool in the middle of a kiddie pool filled with piranhas, so that he'll fall in if he falls asleep. Not even a few moments after discussing his plan, however, he nearly nods off and falls in... only to catch himself with his ears at the last minute. Then he nods off again while still supporting himself, prompting an irritated Moo to shove him down into the pool anyway.
  Moo: You're a pathetic hero, you know that?
  Klonoa: Sorry, I'm ashamed. [falls asleep while standing]
• Rummage Fail:
  • After getting Laser-Guided Amnesia from an Anvil on Head in Volume 1, Chapter 1, Klonoa attempts to pull out his wind ring to face off against Garlen... only to pull out a pool ring, then what looks like a scroll, before grabbing the correct weapon.
  • In Volume 2, Chapter 4, Klonoa attempts to pull out his Megaton Hammer to fight a forest monster, but instead grabs a soup ladel, then a toilet seat, then a clothes hanger. He then frantically pulls out other junk (cooking utensils, toiletries, etc) from his pockets before finally grabbing the hammer. The monster then proceeds to eat said hammer.
• Short-Runners: Only lasted two volumes before CoroCoro Comic decided to pull the plug.
