Yu-Gi-Oh Resurrection: Castle of Glass and Yu-Gi-Oh Resurrection: One Light are a duology of Yu-Gi-Oh! fanfics written by Sougiya_Hara. Castle of Glass can be found both here and here, while One Light can be found here and here.

Yu-Gi-Oh Resurrection: Castle Of Glass begins some time after the ceremonial duel. While crossing the street on his way to visit Honda and Jonouchi at Burger World, Yugi Moutou is hit and killed by a truck. After dying, he is approached by Shadi, who tells him that he is unable to be with Atem in the afterlife. However, Shadi presents him with another option: the chance to travel to another universe and take the place of that reality’s Yugi, (who has recently slipped into a coma and died following a warehouse fire) to help that universe’s Yami in recovering his name and memories, his journey having been cut short by that Yugi’s death. Yugi finds himself falling for the soul that shares his body, and together they change their fate while an old evil schemes...

Yu-Gi-Oh Resurrection: One Light takes place immediately following the end of the previous story. With Zorc Necrophades now possessing the body of Seto Kaiba, he now has the vast financial and technological resources of Kaiba Corp at his disposal. Yugi and his friends must go to Egypt in order to recover Atem’s and Bakura’s shared memories if they have any hope of putting a stop to Zorc’s evil once and for all.

Also has two sequel one-shots: Feels Like Home (Part One), which deals with Yugi and Atem as they look to the future, and Feels Like Home (Part Two), which is concerns Kaiba and Seth as they work out a new living arrangement. Feels Like Home (Part One) can be found here and here, while Feels Like Home (Part Two) can be found here.

Yu-Gi-Oh Resurrection contains the following tropes:

  • Aborted Arc: The main characters' participation in the Battle City tournament becomes this once Seto Kaiba is posessed by Zorc Necrophades.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Bakura, but it's technically more like adaptational anti-heroism.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Hand in hand with the above, this reality’s Yami Bakura is an ally of Yugi, as well as one of his friends.
  • Adaptation Expansion:
    • Tristan's dad owns a custom car and cycle shop.
    • Joey's neighbor is named Mr. Paulson.
    • Bandit Keith deliberately left chemicals in the warehouse so that it would catch fire.
    • Why did Seto Kaiba go to high school despite being the CEO of Kaiba Corp? His school attendance was part of his emancipation agreement.
  • Adopted into Royalty: It's revealed that as a child, Bakura was brought to live in the palace as Atem’s older brother.
  • Adoptive Name Change: After being adopted by the moon god Khonsu, Yugi gains the name "Ihmes" (a diminutive of Ihamesu, Egyptian for "Born of the Moon").
  • All Love Is Unrequited: It’s implied that Mahad has feelings for Atem, but these feelings are never returned, mostly as a result of their mutual deaths.
  • Alternate Self:
    • Yami initially reacts with hostility to Yugi's presence, as he views him as an imposter trying to take the place of "his" Yugi.
      • Atem later realizes that all the different versions of people across the multiverse are actually the SAME people reincarnated into alternate universe selves.
  • Alternate Universe: The reality that Yugi travels to.
  • Anachronism Stew: The royal palace is shown to have items such as kerosene lamps and simple clockwork mechanisms at the end of the Old Kingdom period of Egyptian history. Justified in that they're all inventions by Priest Seth, who's just as innovative as his reincarnation.
  • Ascended Extra: Pegasus and Mai Valentine are members of Yugi's inner circle of friends.
  • Batter Up!: After realizing that a Rare Hunter has broken into their home with the intent of kidnapping Yugi, Solomon Muto barges into Yugi's room wielding a baseball bat.
  • Catapult Nightmare:Happens to Yugi after a dream-memory of him talking to his other self about helping to restore the latter's memories devolves into the memory of hearing the truck that killed him getting closer.
  • Chain-Link Fence: The main characters are faced with one topped with razor wire after being chased by a Zorc-posessed Kaiba. They nearly climb over it, only for Pegasus to arrive and rescue them by making a hole in the fence.
  • Closet Key: It's implied that Yami is this to Yugi, who admits that he didn't used to think of him in that way before.
  • Comatose Canary: Yugi comes out of his coma by "climbing up" to the sound of his grandfather's voice.
  • Comfort Food: Yugi requests that his grandfather make Shiro Miso Soup as a welcome home gift, at which point his grandfather notes that Yugi hasn't asked for the dish in years.
  • Cool Car: Pegasus's car is a Rolls-Royce Phantom.
  • Cosmic Chess Game: According to Amun Ra, all of the multiverse is apparently one played by the forces of good and evil, who play it through their agents lest the entirety of reality cease to exist.
  • Dark Is Evil: Zorc Necrophades is described as looking like black, oily smoke.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: As Pharaoh, Atem wore dark-colored clothes and was a good person.
  • Death by Adaptation:
    • Yugi's parents were killed in a Shinkansen accident when Yugi was a baby.
    • Yugi himself, in the first chapter no less. He gets another chance at life, though.
  • Demonic Possession: Both Marik and Seto wind up possessed by Zorc Necrophades
  • Flower Motifs: Bakura brings Yugi a small pot of chrysanthemums, which symbolize purity and trust.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Because Aknamkanon found out about about how the Millennium Items were made—with the flesh and blood of ninety-nine villagers—Bakura was rescued from Kul Elna before he could find out about the true fate of his village, leading to Aknadin's banishment and Bakura being raised in the palace as Atem's older brother without his desire for revenge.
  • Funetik Aksent: Joey's Brooklyn accent is transcribed.
  • Happily Married: Implied to be the case with Joey's parents.
  • Hijacked by Ganon: At the end of Castle of Glass, it's revealed that Marik's antagonistic actions were actually those of Zorc Necrophades, who'd been possessing Marik since he was a child.
  • Improbably Quick Coma Recovery: Downplayed and lampshaded with Yugi; although he does come out of a coma after two weeks, he still needs physical therapy and can't immediately walk after coming out of it. Lampshaded in that he's remarked as being nothing short of a medical miracle for recovering so quickly and with his faculties mostly intact/a minimal need for therapy.
  • In-Series Nickname: Ryou Bakura refers to this universe's version of Yami Bakura as "Kage" (Japanese for "Shadow").
  • Last-Name Basis: Yugi refers to Seto Kaiba by the latter's surname for the entirety of the story, only to switch to a First-Name Basis towards the end of One Light.
  • Look Both Ways: How Yugi dies at the beginning of the story.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Atem's mother is named Queen Nefertari.
  • New Life in Another World Bonus: Yugi gets transferred to a new reality with some of his important memories intact (namely Marik's identity and Yami's real name), which gives him and his friends an advantage and changes destiny.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Pegasus duels and defeats Arkana offscreen.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: Mokuba becomes tipped off to the fact that Seto is posessed by Zorc Necrophades when "he" refers to "his" deck—which contains the extremely powerful Obelisk the Tormenter and Seto's favorite monster (the Blue Eyes White Dragon)—as useless.
  • Patchwork Fic: Yugi's original universe is based on the manga continuity, while the reality he travels to is based on the anime continuity (and the 4Kids dub, no less).
    • Yami's crimson eyes (as opposed to violet) appear to be lifted from the Toei series.
  • Plot-Triggering Death: The entire story happens as a result of Yugi's death in his original reality.
  • Reincarnation:
    • Seto Kaiba is the reincarnation of Priest Seth, who put part of his soul into the Millennium Rod.
    • It's revealed that Bakura sealed a tiny part of his soul into the Millennium Ring, while the rest of his soul was reincarnated millennia later into Ryou Bakura.
    • Averted with Yugi; it's implied that Yugi and Atem are distinct people.
  • Servile Snarker: Doppelganger acts like one around Pegasus (his boss).
  • Ship Tease: Between Joey and Mai.
  • Shout-Out:
"How typical." Mai pretended to stifle a yawn. "Screw the rules, I'm Seto Kaiba, the rest of you are just gravel under my feet."
    • After Yugi is adopted by the moon god Khonsu, Joey asks if Yugi is some kind of Sailor Scout.
    • "Dibs on being D'Artagnan!"
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Yugi realizes that Zorc is trying to break his confidence in the middle of their duel, which Yugi calls him out on.
  • Taking the Bullet: The memory world reveals that Bakura sacrificed his life by taking the blade that Zorc had intended for Atem.
  • Talking in Your Sleep: Inverted with Yugi, who utters the sentence "Tell me about the bunny".
  • Time Zones Do Not Exist: Yugi and his friends travel by plane from America to Egypt. It comes across as though this didn't take very much time at all, and none of the characters act jet-lagged.
  • Titled After the Song: Castle of Glass is named after the Linkin Park song of the same name, while One Light is named for the 3 Doors Down song of the same name.
  • Tome of Eldritch Lore: The book that Aknadin uses to create the Millennium Items.
  • Tying Up Romantic Loose Ends: Tea gets paired off with Tristan.
  • Unknown Character: The driver of the vehicle that kills Yugi in the first chapter.
  • Weakened by the Light: Zorc reacts to the moonlight as if it burns him.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Joey never gets his Red-Eyes Black Dragon card back from Yugi.
  • You Have Failed Me: Zorc has the unfortunate tendency of either killing off his subordinates after they fail to stop the heroes, or otherwise rendering them comatose.
