Edward Cedric Hardwicke (7 August 1932 – 16 May 2011) was an English character actor. He was best known for his beloved performance as Dr. Watson in Granada Television's Sherlock Holmes series, starring opposite the acclaimed Jeremy Brett. He is also remembered for playing Captain Pat Grant in Series 1 of the BBC period drama Colditz.
He was the son of actor Cedric Hardwicke.
