Kill la Kill, coming from the same creators as Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, contains a praise-worthy soundtrack, with no less than four credits songs and a score composed by Hiroyuki Sawano, fresh off from his astounding work on 2013's Attack on Titan.
- The opening credits for Episodes 1-15 use Aoi Eir's "Sirius", while the ending credits use Miku Sawai's "Gomen ne, Iiko ja Irarenai" note .
- Episode 16 and onwards uses GARNiDELiA's "ambiguous" as its opening credits, while "Shin Sekai Koukyougaku" note by Sayonara Ponytail is used as the ending credits.
- Aoi Eir's "Sanbika" is also used as an insert song accompanying the climatic events in Episodes 3 and 23.
- "Before My Body Is Dry", a dynamic rock ballad which features lyrics that explicitly state Ryuko and Senketsu's motivations. It's hard to not cheer for her as this track plays while she puts on Senketsu to kick some serious ass.DON'T LOSE YOUR WAYYYYYYYYY!!!
- So awesome, it even spawned a minor Youtube meme of "Don't Lose Your Way Goes With Everything."
- The second soundtrack also adds a karaoke version for those interested.
- The Rearrange & Remix soundtrack gives us "Before my body is dry (:[nZk] ver.)".
- "KiryuG@kiLL", Satsuki Kiryuin's Leitmotif; an overbearing, militaristic piece which captures the grandeur of her authority.
- "goriLLAjaL", which can be divided into two halves:
- The first half is used as Ira Gamagoori's Leitmotif, featuring angry guitars, pounding percussion, panic-inducing synth riffs, and (oddly) Arabic-sounding wailing.
- The second half serves as Nonon Jakuzure's. Appropriately enough for a drum major, it features military drums and brass fanfares.
- "InuKa3L"; just like the previous example, it can be divided into two distinct parts:
- The first part serves as Houka Inumuta's Leitmotif, featuring rather cold, electronic sounds. Inexplicably enough, the most interesting part, which features square-dancing calls, plays whenever Aikuro starts stripping around Ryuko...
- The second half forms Uzu Sanageyama's Leitmotif, being a lively, fast-paced piece with an Oriental feel, fitting in well with his Kendo Team Captain theme.
- "Suck your blood", Senketsu's own Leitmotif, whose lyrics refer to skimpy clothes, drinking blood, and "becoming one" to achieve greater power. Also plays when Aikuro gets serious.
- For another version of the song, listen to its remix, "Suck your blood (:[nZk] ver.)".
- "Blumenkranz" (i.e. "Floral Wreath"), Ragyo Kiryuin's grandiose Leitmotif; a soaring, powerful song, at times eerily soft, it's a perfect match for Ragyo's personality. Then there's the ominous German chanting and lyrics calling the world cruel, then asking why the listener would cry over the singer throwing away dead flowers, which probably has something to do with Ragyo abandoning Ryuko as an infant.
- On the Rearrange and Remix soundtrack, we have "Blumenkranz (:[nZk] ver.)". The softer arrangement loses none of the original's driving power; it's arguably eerier for the dissonance.
- "KillaKiLL", with the first half blaring whenever the Elite Four show off their badassery. The second half is used as Nui Harime's own Leitmotif, comprising of creepy chimes and oppressive beats to underline her unsettling presence.
- "KiLLLakiLL", an orchestral arrange of "Before My Body is Dry". If Ryuko's not kicking ass with her usual Leitmotif, it's with this instead. The second half also plays whenever Tsumugu's around.
- "KiryuwaKiLL", an action-oriented variation of Satsuki's Leitmotif; usually used when she gets serious in the middle of a fight.
- "Light Your Heart Up" (sung by Aimee Blackschleger), Mako's often forgotten Leitmotif, which is about how much she enjoys being Ryuko's friend.
- There's also the rearrangement, "Light your heart up (:[nZk] ver.)" for your listening pleasure.
- "HilllalilL♪" the Mankanshokus' recurring leitmotif, is among the show's more humorous tunes.
- "k1llwaiLL", especially the chorus that picks up during the middle of some of the most dramatic moments in the series.
- "I want to know", a sad theme that plays when Ryuko parts ways with the rest of her friends and Nudist Beach, not wanting to have anything more to do with them after finding out she's not really human. And later in the same episode when she gets brainwashed by Ragyo, and in the next episode when Mako and Senketsu try to rescue her from said brainwashing.
- "KILL7lakill", Nudist Beach's Leitmotif.
- The second soundtrack starts with "Gekiban Tokka Gata 1boshi Gokuseifuku", combining the best parts of "Before My Body is Dry" and its instrumental remix. Notably, the vocals are sung simultaneously by the female and male singers, nicely emphasizing Ryuko's and Senketsu's bond.
- "Rhythm Kyouka Gata 2boshi Gokuseifuku", a galvanised version of Nui Harime's leitmotif, adding guitars to the mix. The second half serves as Kaneo Takarada's own theme.
- "Nichijou Gekijou Gata 3boshi Gokuseifuku", Mako's infamous leitmotif when engaging into heated discussions/monologues.
- "Naming Sense 0 Gata 5boshi Gokuseifuku", a slower remix of "KillaKiLL" that is pretty much the musical cue for the Elite Four to start kicking ludicrous amounts of ass. Then comes the second half, which marks the moment they activate their Goku uniforms' final form. It's also a slowed down version of "KILL7lakill", and is played when Ryuko takes off Junketsu.
- "Tsuika Hacchuu Gata 6boshi Gokuseifuku", which nicely goes with the Wham Episode in which Satsuki stabs Ragyo in the back and reveals her true motives as a Good All Along Rebel Leader. note
- The first half of "MT Hensou Gata 8boshi Gokuseifuku" is a beautiful, slowed-down remix of "KiLLLakiLL" (which is already a remix of "Before My Body Is Dry") that plays during Ryuko's and Satsuki's reconciliation and finally teaming up to save the world, while the second half plays during the heart-wrenching scene of Mako desperately trying to bring Berserk!Ryuuko to her senses.
- "Tabun LASTBOSS Gata 9boshi Gokuseifuku", Ragyo's battle theme when fighting Ryuko and Satsuki, as well as the theme that plays when Satsuki dons Senketsu to fight the brainwashed Ryuko.
- "Tsuika Saishuuroku Gata 11boshi Gokuseifuku", the creepy theme that plays whenever the COVERS, along with Ragyo's Assimilation Plot for that matter, make their dreaded appearance in the last part of the story.
- "Juuyoubutsu Hakkou Kyouchou Gata 12boshi Gokuseifuku", Nudist Beach's own kickass leitmotif, used to dramatic effect when the S.S. Naked Sun sets sail towards Honnouji Academy.
- "Till I Die" and its remix, "Till I Die (:[nZk] ver.)" (sung by CASG). This song was used to great effect in the lead up montage to the graduation ceremony of Episode 25.
