Back to my Wreck It Ralph+Gumball+My Hero Academia-crossover fanfic thing - started to find Tournament Arc-thing somewhat cumbersome to continue because it got too in the way for the main meat of the fic - and also delay the central conflict in it for too long.

On that note, wonder if there's people out there who could help me build up the world I'm setting this fanfic on: basically it being "crossroad" city between the popular/well-known Anime and Western Cartoons to come together, sorta like the CN City Bumpers did.

If to give a good idea what series you can expect since so many Anime exist, the ones allowed to visit or live in this city the requirement being that both series must have had dubs between both countries).

My central problem is that I might not be able to pinpoint the exact character I might need for some scene to make this world feel what I intend it to be - ATM I'm looking for a veteran doctor to check on Fix-It-Felix in a comatose state. I could check TV Tropes-pages for characters but they can only give me so much examples that might be most straightforward, or not even meeting what I'm looking for - so suggestions from various sources would be more helpful.

I have a wishlist.

I want a Dresden Files / Legend Of Korra X-Over where the story starts with Dresden stuck in Republic City some time before Korra shows up.

I want to put Agents Of SHIELD's Ghost Rider in EVERYTHING. As of riding this post, my previous Ghost Rider thought had him in My Hero Academia. This was dumb and I want to read about it.

I had this idea once, when I was young, for a fusion fic of Dresden Files and Harry Potter and, for some fucking reason, Bleach. I can't remember how I made that logic.

I had this idea once for a story where Uchiha Sasuke is possessed by Ghost Rider. And then a different idea where he's possessed by Harry Dresden. And then one where he becomes an akuma of Malfeas.

I want a Dresden Files/ Hataraku Maou-sama crossover where Maou is trying genuinely trying t conquer the world by taking over Mc Donalds. Everyone else thinks he's crazy. Jump cut 10 years later, the US is the Demon Empire of Mc Donalds, with Maou as CEO For Life. Harry has teamed up with Emi to take Maou down because his conquest resulted in the hostile takeover of Burger King.

I'd really like to see a small scale Worm / Pretty Cure cross.

Like, street level stuff.

I think it would be super neat to read.

Here are a few questions that occurred to me recently, and which are relevant for any fanfic that crosses over multiple Magical Girl manga/anime:

  • Which magical girls have managed to reach Cosmic Entity-tier Power Levels? The only examples I know of are Sailor Moon's Sailor Moon and Sailor Cosmos, HeartCatch Pretty Cure!'s Infinity Silhouette, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica's Ultimate Madoka and Devil Homura (spoiler-tagging because they're major spoilers for the TV anime and the third movienote , respectively).

  • How would you suggest the relationship between the various magical girl Cast Herds would be like? One possible scenario I've come up with is that the Sailor Soldiers are the first kind of "magical girl" in-universe, and were the only kind prior to the fall of the Silver Millennium at Beryl and Metaria's hands; the other kinds of magical girls emerged over the subsequent millennia, including Precursor Heroes such as HeartCatch Pretty Cure!'s Cure Angie.

  • On Pretty Cure crossovers: How would you suggest a fusion of the various Pretty Cure worlds into a single setting (albeit perhaps with each installment's storyline occuring in a different city)?

Aren't the PreCure movies in-franchise crossovers?

Just use the movie continuity/ies.

For some reason, I was under the impression that the All-Star movies involved separate universes coming temporarily into contact with each other. I guess that's what I get for not verifying my information.

For a while, I've been imagining Lyrical Nanoha and Cross Ange together.

Let's see here:

  • The main characters sharing the same seiyuus: Fate/Ange by Nana Mizuki and Nanoha/Hilda by Yukari Tamura (Yukana voicing Reinforce and Emma as a bonus)
  • Yuri subtext
  • A magic-wielding society that holds all authority
  • ancient conspiracies within
  • dimension hopping
  • anti-magic wielders labeled as savage, arrogant, anti-social freaks (only that the Eclipse infectees are a more legit case rather than the BS propaganda instituted by Embryo)
  • Dragons, nuff said
  • Mecha-Mooks (Gadget Drones, the Pyrethroid disc drones and automated Paramails)
  • Mostly female cast
  • The villains side lead by a bishonen mad scientist

I have a question for a Beast Wars/My Little Pony X-Over I'm toying with.

Who of the Predacons could be 'redeemed'? Aside from Waspinator Inferno and Quickstrike were Maximals-brainwashing and brain damage aside. There should be something good in them that can be saved.

Also how would the Ponies react to Rampage's backstory? (notably Celestia and Luna as leaders since it was the Maximal Leadership that created Rampage).

There may be a running gag of Waspinator and BA constantly mocking the Maximals (the High Council anyways) for thinking anything involving Starscream would end well.

Random weird story idea: EVERY superhero and supervillain in Marvel and DC find themselves transported to a pocket dimension that consists of the state of New York and about twice as much ocean. After about a year of fighting, trying to kill each other and trying to find a way out, they give up and decide to try and make some kind of stable, working community, since they're stuck with each other for the foreseeable forever. Superman takes up farming, Dr. Doom becomes ruler of the world by virtue of the fact he's the only one who'd actually no how to run the palce properly afterwards, as opposed to the rest of the nutjobs whose plan is 'then make everything suck for my enemies' or 'rebuild Nazi Germany'. The green lanterns gather together all the people with cops as secret identities and try to set up a functioning police force (unfortunately, since they ALL tend to be loose canons, this doesn't go well). Etc...

Double post, since no response. New weird idea: a [PROTOTYPE]/Parasite Eve/God Eater/Resident Evil crossover. Inside Umbrella, some seriously deluded individual thinks it's a good idea to introduce Active Mitochondria, Blacklight and the T-Virus to Oracle Cells. The result is Shio, the human-shaped Aragami... with lots of extras. Hilarity Ensues.

Okay, I THINK I have an idea on how this can be done. Here goes:

Aya Brea is on her way home to get ready for the opera when a suspicious man in Penn Station tries to release what seems suspicious like a bioweapon. Naturally, she tries to take him down...

Next thing she knows, she's waking up in the morgue at Gentek (a subsidiary of the Umbrella corporation). As she tries to get out, she accidentally releases the T-virus...

Okay, not sure how I can add Oracle cells to this, but I'll keep trying!

Also developed another random idea while thinking that up:

Around the time of Skin Game, the Fomor discover the presence of Oracle Cells. Recognizing it as an unknown organism, one of them decides to run experiements to weaponize it (for the usual Dresdenverse reasons). Hilarity Ensues, and it escapes towards the holding pens where they keep all their kidnapped humans and starts eating them all...

Months later, Harry Dresden finds a seemingly amnesiac albino little girl just appear out of the water onto his island, just as giant monsters start coming out of the water to attack Chicago. Its the Oracle Cell Apocalypse as Harry tries to save the little girl, keep invading weird lifeforms off his island, rescue all his friends and daughters, and hope that Mab doesn't think this is a good time to make him do something.

So this is still a thing.

I swapped out Donovan for an odd duck: Shulk. I figure the numerous abilities the Monado gives him (in addition to his Combat Clairvoyance) act as a good counterpoint to Hiei's raw speed and his Jagan eye.

So right now, I'm looking for a good counterpart to Chopper to make 4 for the other side, but I want 5 for each group.

And I'm still brainstorming on that fic idea. It's been fun just trying to create a random team. I hope to actually go somewhere with it.

Ok. Here are those line ups again:

Team 1:

And for the fifth slot of this team, a real unexpected choice:

I chose Terry because I wanted more of pure fist fighter, but also someone more cool headed and older than Lucy or Mega Man. The Legendary Hungry Wolf had everything I was looking for.

And now the opposing group:

Just those three for team two right now. I said earlier I was going to use Shulk, but Magus seems like a slightly better counterpart to Hiei, though I'm not totally committed to that. I just need good counterparts to Chopper and Terry, and both sides will be complete.

What happens after that you ask?

...Hell if I know. I'm just being crazy.

Looking for some major help here, incase TV Tropes can provide it.

Been still working on crossover, check the top post of mine in this page. So I managed to work fully out how this city is like, based on how Japanese have huge fascination with American culture, and later on vice versa (if going by 2000s' anime boom). So I set off to make the city be a "culture-sharing market", where products and aspects from both Japanese and American culture are shared and sold between each other. I'll refer to this city as "Atomburg" for now.

Anyway, I'm trying to build the city itself with possible places of interests, usually being an amalgamation of shared profession between a Western Cartoon character and a Anime character.

For example:

- Library founded by Mr.Peabody around the 70s - used to be prospering in that era but later on, it was found out by Jeanette of Chipettes that some of the books contained plenty of "inaccurate" historical information.

The library was planned to be shut down because of this during talking about where the funding should go, but was bought in by Belle & Beast, who'd rework the place to be more grand and filled with more accurate books.

After Lisa Simpson retired from being a librarian there during the 90s, the baton was passed to Yomiko Readman, soon be joined by Twilight Sparkle. Index works there as a literal index, but only does it for exchange of food. Most people attend to find the book themselves due this, but as the library's immensely huge and maze-like, they are found offering whatever they're munching at that moment to access Index's services due her amazing memory.

I might add other ideas as I come by to give more what I mean, but I hope I can get help here, it's direly needed to make this setting work. I'll post the history behind this city's development below.

To summarize it via a backstory:

Atomburg started out as a marketplace for selling "American" stuff to early Anime-characters back in the 1960s set up by Scrooge McDuck upon meeting Atom, Go Mifune, and other anime characters that time.

The sellings were quite good, but due how it was sort of one-sided market of Japanese cartoons demanding authentic American stuff from country of it's origin, the city never really developed to a more than somewhat rural town with a center in middle of nowhere.

That was until the late 80s and 90s hit, where the interest on Anime started to grow exponentially, making now Toons to wanna get bit associated with that culture - mostly coming through emerging of Dragon Ball Z, Pokémon, Ranma 1/2, Digimon Adventure, Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo!, YuYu Hakusho, Slayers etc.

For example, Bubbles of Powerpuff Girls has "Chiisai Baani-Baani no Kawaii Bouken Monogatari"-book in the episode "Super Zeroes", which also shows she can read fluent, if simple Japanese. My headcanon is that she got this from Usagi Tsukino selling away her old stuff while Bubbles was exploring through Atomburg with other girls and Professor Utonium. Also there's references to some icons Super Robot-genre in PPG now and then.

The interest plain exploded during 2000s (A.K.A the "Weeaboo Era"), after more well-known millennial anime became more widespread and popular, such as,Naruto, Fullmetal Alchemist, DeathNote, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Ouran High School Host Club, Code Geass, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, etc. Mostly it was through fansubs + Toonami after Adult Swim gave interest to Anime culture via Cowboy Bebop and FLCL. In whole, now it was the Toons that demanded items and products from Japanese culture, forcing the market to expand it's services and products to include things from Japan.

As both American and Japanese cultures would now share prospering sale sharing between each others , Atomburg would slowly develop to a metropolitan city wheres ores or services mainly are various ones that come from both cultures, allowing Toons /Anime experience and try them at their own leisure. This Atomburg would become a "culture resort", with various official brands, popular services and luxurious attractions that come from either Japanese or American culture.

Basically, say a KFC is where a Toon could go like they'd go in their own world, but for an Anime-character, it can be quite a new experience - and vice versa with a Sushi Restaurant or Maid Cafe for Toons.

The main inspiration came from Zootopia and how that movie build such a strong city out of all anthropomorphic animals - and mixing that with how Who Framed Roger Rabbit and The Amazing World Of Gumball handled mixing animated characters in a real world setting, even beyond their differing animation styles. This is kind of what I wanna pull off with this city having both animation cultures come together via good hint of reality about how both Americans and Japanese are fascinated with each other's cultures.

Still working on that weird crossover idea.

Considering putting Yamcha in, but the problem is...well he's Yamcha. I want him as a counterpart to Terry Bogard, and in terms of ability, he would be pretty good (in terms of power, he might even eclipse Terry, and one of the reasons I'm leaning towards him is that there's no evidence one way or another since we don't know if he ever approached planet buster, though I doubt it).

The issue is that his Butt-Monkey status is so ingrained that I honestly think it would kill people's suspension of disbelief if he wasn't instantly defeated by the weakest possible foe every time. I'm concerned his joke status makes it impossible to really do anything with him in term of fighting, but he still feels like a good choice. It's rather frustrating.

I'd like to hear some feedback if possible, since I've been talking about this idea for a while, but haven't gotten any replies yet AND I WANT PEOPLE TO PAY ATTENTION!!! not that that bothers me at all, since this is mostly a joke idea that may never see the light of day.

[up]

What do you know, someone else who had to wonder once how to reconstruct what is perceived today as one hell of a Memetic Loser (Chrom) if ever attempting to write a fanfic about him. Though again, I feel like his Memetic Loser-status has become more just forced on him due myriad of popularity-related circumstances and trying to milk his "incompetence" in style of "None remembers Luigi's name"-joke - though that joke had started to die a long while back and struggles to get by in that Mario x Rabbids-crossover game only.

Anyway, going pretty deep on what was your crossover idea (maybe I need a link to clarification) - I think this really depends on what your fic's theme and characterization entails and what directions you wanna take Yamcha to. I've been constantly, and I mean, CONSTANTLY, wrestling with whether to allow myself experiment with characterizations because I find writing characters like formulas beyond boring and liability on exploring various characterization that would make them work better towards my narrative. After all, I also tend to have big pet peeve with writing characters mostly meant for being tortured by the universe, to the point I've decided to not get attached on them due how pitiful they get throughout their portrayal. Unless that's their point, but I just loathe such characters unless they're VERY despicable, like Mineta from My Hero Academia.

With that end, I tend to repurpose "funny guys" to be more like proactive characters, with their funny side brought out now and then, though in ways that work at the narrative, and doesn't involve necessarily easy expectations in style of most running gags involving things beyond their control. In fact, I seem comprise my portrayal of characters in my fanfics being reconstructed about to Composite Characters, bringing best of their loved qualities or traits, while toning down the more controversial or negative ones to be better used on the story/narrative or round them out more subtly on their overall character.

To iterate my example, going back to Luigi above — I once tried to write a Smash Bros-crossover fic taking elements from House Of Mouse-show. I started the fic with having Mario Bros. go back to Brooklyn after receiving a decades-old letter from there. Knowing how Mario-characters are kind of minimally characterized, especially Mario + me practically loathing Luigi's Butt-Monkey-characterization being a popular theme for any Luigi-related comic in general, I had to dig quite deep on their various portrayals to make them more fun and dynamic to write.I then settled on making Luigi a down-to-earth foil to Mario in style of his Super Show-incarnation + snarkiness as seen in Luigis Mansion - though he retains his cowardice and usually more conservative/wary approach to things, which contrasts nicely with Mario's more outward "go-go" attitude. I think I was inspired by Jean Passepartout in that regard, using it as a base for Luigi in my fics.

Conversely, I made Mario reflect his happy-go-lucky personality you see him exhibit in most of the modern Mario-games, as well as how his voice actor Charles Martinet chooses to portray him during Mario talking tad longer than we usually hear him.On that end, I exemplified his moderate gluttony on food (Seen how he has thing for spaghetti, ravioli and and seafood] and being more impulsive of the brothers. It tends to drive Luigi doing things, though now and then, Luigi has to hold him back or put him back on track. On that end, Luigi's Neat Freak-tendencies as seen briefly in Luigis Mansion + the fact that he's usually at home while Mario's out adventuring at made me think that he does the food and looks after the house more than Mario.

To my big surprise, both the readers and my beta, who wrote Mario Bros. more like their Mario&Luigi RPG-counterparts (Luigi's the funny man while Mario's the silent, lovable everyman with hidden deviousness), found my characterization of Mario Bros. "one of the best they had ever read" (Fans) or 'preferring it more to the canon counterparts (The Beta) at times. I feel like this was due me finding a strong dynamic for Mario Bros., while reconstructing their character traits to be less "formulated", yet retain their well-known traits, but used only when narrative benefits from it the best. However, the way I wrote them works only on what I demanded from my own narrative, and I think their canon characterizations do well on their own respective setting.

I think you should worry less on Yamcha's "memetic wimpiness" and concentrate instead of how to make him fit him to the narrative you're going for, working on his characterization to make it flow best well there. After all, you're writing fanon/fanfiction: canon ain't the higher authority there anymore. If it was, that'd be just holding us back from experimenting with our fave fictional characters or make them go through events or adventures beyond the canon rules, which is the entire point of it. Besides, fans would be better reading the real deal instead fanfics with plots and characters that stay too much on Original Flavour.

So, if he's a Memetic Loser and it doesn't service well on your fic, don't bother forcing that in - mold him to fit your needs in the plot, theme and dynamics with other characters. I can reassure you that there's plenty of fans who have thought the same as you and might be there waiting someone to write Yamcha as little more than a joke. Or more or less have done so already, as with likes of Keitaro Urashima in various Love Hina-fanfics.

Of course, do this "reconstruction" moderation and sensibility of course - you'd best not to make him completely OOC and having him become a Possession Sue here, after all. Try develop his other character traits and strengths not related to his infamous status around to round him up, see if you can explore those based on his various portrayals in Dragon Ball Z-media, or even come up with something of your own altogether that you think could fit him.

For example, if his "memetic wimpiness" could be used as a springboard for character development - which in your fic thing I kind of saw from your previous post, is making him stronger? Even Batman-ish warrior guy since he's no Saiyan, IDK.

Hope that's enough food for thought! cool
