  • Accidentally-Correct Writing: In Mumei's "Dan Dan" music video, which has various scenes implying she is the one responsible for several landmark disasters in human society, one scene has her holding a bottle of pure ethanol while standing in front of an exploding shuttle resembling the Challenger. While Kanauru has confirmed it's meant to reference a drunk karaoke stream that used the bottle as a foreground sprite (in fact, every single scene in the MV was a reference to something Mumei did during any one of her streams up until that point in time), the Challenger itself suffered an explosive and catastrophic in-flight breakup 73 seconds after lift off due to Disaster Dominoes ensuing as a result of two redundant O-ring seals in a joint within the shuttle's starboard side solid rocket booster failing due to record-low temperatures at the time of launch... and ethanol not only breaks down rubber, but also chills surfaces due to thermodynamics.
  • Acting for Two:
    • Whenever a hololive member plays two or more characters in the same scene, this is bound to happen. Perhaps the most prominent example of this is Fubuki's tendency to voice both herself and Kurokami, her dark persona, whenever they happen to talk to each other. Not only that, but it is not unusual for Fubuki to take this up to eleven, singing songs while alternating between Shirakami and Kurokami in real time.
    • Smol Ame's official "debut" stream and subsequent appearances alongside normal Ame typically involve the two of them talking to each other.
    • Baelz's Baewatch shorts involve conversations between various characters all styled like her and voiced by her (except for the teacher, who was voiced by YAGOO and has his face).
    • For her Holotalk's 2nd anniversary, Kiara's "special guest" is her Smol counterpart.
  • Approval of God: Many of the members are usually very approving of fan-made content and memes regarding them, and take those with good humor. On occasion, they will even acknowledge and reference those same memes on-stream themselves.
    • The entire idea behind Coco's Shitpost and Meme Review series, as well as Haachama's viewer submission contests themed on lewd art, cooking and Minecraft creation etc., is this trope in action.
    • Suisei in particular loves the fan video on her based on The Shining. She also approved of the video about herself on her twitter and loved how well-documented it was.
    • Aki Rosenthal in particular credited her August 2020 surge in subscribers (from 189K subs to 202K subs, in a single night) to a translated clip and had nothing but kind words and appreciation to that clipper in particular, but also all the other fans that translate her clips. She has also used some fan-made things as loading screens.
    • While Calliope Mori doesn't read fanfiction, she gave her approval to her fans to write what they want.
    • Kiara Takanashi has read her own entry on the character page and found it interesting enough to read more of it on her own time off-stream.
    • Amelia Watson played a fangame based on Walfie's fanart of her, the latter of which also became an integral part of her character after an official chibi model was released in April 2021. In fact, Amelia seems to be the most receptive to memes and fanart in general among HoloEN, with her frequently sharing them on her Twitter and even incorporating some aspects of them into her streams, making her a close counterpart to Coco.
    • Members with the English branch have reacted to the Fan-Created Offspring hashtag #MythKids with the general consensus being that it's kinda weird but ultimately very cute and creative. Kiara Takanashi in particular even encouraged fanart of the hashtag by listing basic physical features of a child between her and Gawr Gura and letting artists interpret their design.
    • Gura said in a stream that she has heard and enjoyed the "high-quality rips" of "Abyssal Time" and "Silver Bullet" from Devil May Cry 5, both of which are mashups with her then-recent original song "REFLECT", made by parody music channel team SiIvaGunner. Later on, Calliope offhandedly made a shout out to the channel after reading a comment suggesting the SiIvaGunner team would make a rip based on her Earthbound streams. Days later, the channel uploaded "Get on the Bus (In-Game Version)", which is a mashup between the advertised track and one of Calliope's tracks "DEAD BEATS". In response, Calliope left a comment on the video as well as sharing the rip on Twitter after she completed the game.
    • Kiara commissioned an artist to create a background of "The Usual Room" for her to read superchats. In the back part of the room is a nod to VTuber Animatics' "Gawr Gura's Massive Brain" with a white sign featuring a kangaroo with 1-5 and Rudol Von Stroheim with 1-6.
    • Kiara also loves the Minecraft videos created by CupZ for using her voice clips in a Played for Laughs manner. It gets to the point that they collaborated and this is the end result.
    • Calli's October 13th, 2021 stream was a playthrough of three hololive fangames, including holo dungeon, Dead Beat, and HoloFunk, all of which were given her seal of approval. The latter is particularly noteworthy as it faces an uphill battle in official recognition due to its very prominent use of Aloe's graduation as the foundation for practically the entire story; luckily, thanks to the release of an alternate route featuring Fubuki who is deliberately kept in the dark from Aloe's presence, the game was able to be streamed anyways.
    • Kiara and Ina's cover of "Whatever, Whatever, Whatever" was animated by resident Twitter Holofans Akashibag and Raina Illune.
    • Ollie knows enough about the hololive TV Tropes page to realize A-Cup Angst is the very first thing on her part of the character list.
    • Both Sana and her IRL mother are very appreciative of HoloCrumb dedicating their channel almost exclusively to her. Her mother actually really enjoys the clever use of editing and reaction shots to add humor to the clips.
    • HoloIndie as a whole could be seen as an enforced version of this, as it is an initiative created by COVER Corp through which fan-made video games can be published and monetized, and they can even potentially receive assistance from the talents themselves (such as getting custom voice recordings to use).
  • Ascended Fanon:
  • Author's Saving Throw:
    • Marine once posted a video of herself getting slapped, and while it was meant to be Played for Laughs, it had the opposite effect as it caused fans to be concerned for her which didn't help as it shows her almost being on the verge of tearsnote . She later made another one where the ending has her enjoying getting slapped, and a rather wholesome version where she receives a pat on the head instead.
    • Fans watching the livestream of the hololive English "Connect the World" concert were annoyed with the erratic camera direction, which employed frequent cuts that made it difficult to see the girls' choreography. This was a sentiment shared with some of the talents, particularly Calli, who was disappointed that a particular jump during her performance of "Wasted, Wanted" wasn't shown on the stream feed due the director cutting away from the side screen video output to one of the physical venue cameras just seconds prior. On August 2, 2023, the day that the archive period of the concert was supposed to end, the hololive English twitter page announced the release of a new cut of the concert on SPWN, which turned down the erratic camera direction as well as including more footage from side screens' video output to make it easier to see everyone's performances, including Calli's aforementioned jump. To give fans more time to see the new cut, the end of the archive period of the concert was extended by one week to the 9th.
    • The first of two livestreams for Hololive Summer Party suffered from Demand Overload due to the large number of viewers trying to get into the waiting room outright crashing the platform hosting the concerts. As compensation, the first concert day was moved to hololive's main Youtube channel, where it would be broadcast for free 17 hours after its original start time.
  • Banned in China:
    • Both Haato and Coco have had their Bilibili channels banned due to mentions of Taiwan in their streams. note  Mounting toxicity on their YouTube streams over the next few days eventually led to both Haato and Coco getting suspended for 3 weeks from 28 September 2020 and the non-CN talents avoiding Billibilli since. The continued vitriol against hololive in China concerned the Japanese government enough that an official meeting was held shortly after the incident re-assessing the risks of doing business with China. Hololive themselves eventually revealed in late October that the CN branch would be disbanded, with the official announcement of their graduation coming on November 12th.
    • Taken to an extreme level to where because Cover is considered Persona Non Grata in China nowadays, any cameo any hololive member makes on any media is edited out when streamed on BiliBili. Examples include:
      • Fubuki and Matsuri's cameos in The Detective is Already Dead
      • The ED of The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! which is sung by Nene, Aqua and Subaru
      • Nene's extremely brief cameo in episode 6 of The World's Finest Assassin.
      • 2021 marked the first iteration of the "VTubers Have NO BORDERS!" music festival (which started in 2019, and also ran in 2020) without any representatives from either hololive or holostars (wheras 2019 had the former, and 2020 had both). This is due to BiliBili being one of the major organizers for the event, and as mentioned above, hololive and holostars are considered Persona Non Grata as far as BiliBili-organized or sponsored events are concerned.
      • Almost every instance of hololive screentime in Kizuna Ai's "The Last Live - hello world 2022" stream was edited out of BiliBili's simulcast, save for wide angle crowd shots where hololive's members were barely noticeable.
  • Beam Me Up, Scotty!: Pekora never tweeted the words "pain peko", that was a fanmade edit. As evidenced by the number of upvotes on an incorrect answer on this page, many people are not aware of this. That said, while she didn't tweet it, she has said it on stream as an Ascended Meme.
  • Career Resurrection: While vtuber etiquette means one does not tend to discuss it a number of hololive talent had previous careers as online content creators, of varying success, before joining.
  • The Cast Showoff: Lampshaded by Coco. Every member of the first generation of Hololive EN has talent that was put to great use during the day of their debuts:
    • Calliope is an incredible rapper, debuting four original songs during her first week, and made her own stream opening animation and the introduction animation for Kiara.
    • Kiara is one of the most proficient at speaking Japanese, is capable of bilingual dubbing during her streams and is actually trilingual as German is her first language (English only being her second, which makes sense since she is from... Australia...).
    • Ina'nis is a professional level artist & animator and drew the PV artwork for the Hololive EN announcement video.
    • Gura showed off her fantastic singing during her debut stream and is a highly skilled rhythm game player.
    • Amelia is skilled as a video editor, has a lot of experience with streaming and Vtuber software, comes up with creative stream ideas, and is skilled in FPS games just like Botan, Aqua, and Towa of the Japanese branch.
  • Colbert Bump:
    • One of hololive's first ever spikes in popularity (if not the first) happened back in 2017, when Dennou Shoujo YouTuber Siro recommended Sora's channel after Siro's own Christmas stream went down due to technical difficulties. Sora was running her own Christmas stream concurrently at the time and it spiked to around 1,000 viewers when it was usually a struggle for her to reach 300.
    • The group's English fandom exploded in size after their appearance in Azur Lane, especially for the characters featured in the event (Aqua, Ayame, Fubuki, Matsuri, Mio, Sora, Shion). This has sparked a sort of mutual thing as a number of Hololivers still play the game and with players wishing for a second collab with newer girls like Marine and Coco.
    • 4chan was responsible for first discovering Miko way back in February of 2019 before the big boom in the west and almost all of her memes, such as her being Elite and FAQ note  (which she began saying due to her noticing westerners in her chat out of nowhere) came from said raids and interactions. They actually taught her the "Press F to pay respects" meme. They still make a sizable chunk of her western viewers.
    • For many, their first exposure to hololive is likely Fubuki's Vine-like covers (called "Fubukiposting") in 4chan and Hamburgaga's remix, or Iyger's translation of Matsuri's band-aids story. Along with Miko's early viral moments, they are among the first clips to start the trend of both remixing and translating content that would eventually lead the hololive's big boom.
    • This also worked in reverse; the official hololive subreddit was steadily growing in proportion with the growing overseas fanbase, and then Coco decided to start a weekly "Reddit Meme Review" stream. This resulted in a fairly large number of Japanese fans joining the Reddit community despite limited knowledge of English to interact with the overseas community, as well as other members of hololive creating Reddit accounts to post there; even those without accounts like Fubuki have admitted to lurking on the site and sharing some of the posts with their own Twitter followers. Watame herself also joined Reddit and was made a moderator on the subreddit just after being a featured guest on a "Reddit Meme Review" stream, followed shortly thereafter by most of the Hololive English girls.
    • In a humorous example, Coco had displayed a graph of all the hololive talent ordered by number of subscribers in a meme review. In dead last, as a joke, the post included YAGOO's official Youtube channel, which was at 7k at the time of the video and has since tripled in size.
    • For an individual channel, Moona struggled to find a larger audience for a long time until she joined the Hololive Minecraft server and became so addicted to the game that she is usually featured by accident in other girl's streams, where her struggle to communicate in more complex Japanese sentences led to a flood of funny clips of the Hololive Japan girls attempting to help and communicate with her in English to varying degrees of success. She has since started playing Minecraft so much that it became a meme that she is a permanent NPC that exists in Holoserver. Predictably, most of these clips also feature fan-favorite Pekora.
    • In an indirect example, many people discovered VTuber Amatsuka Uto due to her sharing the same illustrator and face with Amelia Watson and the subsequent memes about their visual similarity and their contrasting personalities. Her subscriber count went from around 36,000 subscribers during her Live2D debut on December 14, 2020 to reaching 140,000 subscribers and counting a little more than a week later on December 22, 2020 which is astonishing growth for an indie. By late 2021 Uto was beyond half a million subscribers.
    • Another indirect example is the growth of Aoi Nabi, who is the character designer for both Ame and Uto. She debuted in May 2021 and in 6 months she had gained 300,000 subscribers. This was helped along by Mel hosting a collab with Ame and Nabi, and members of the Ame & Uto fanbase subscribing to her.
    • In late April of 2022, Windah Basudara, a highly popular Indonesian YouTuber, made a video reacting to Indonesian VTubers, including Zeta and Kobo. While it didn't do too much for the former, the latter took off like a rocket not long after, becoming the first VTuber to resonate with the Indonesian mainstream.
    • Gura's (as Gawr) cover of The Last Stand also introduced many of her viewers to Sabaton. Indeed, there was a surge of comments on the song's official music video from Chumbuds not long after the karaoke stream who genuinely enjoyed the band's music and became fans themselves.
    • The Link Your Wish concert brought the Indonesia branch to the attention of both western and Japanese fans due to the excellent performances of Moona and Risu.
    • Much like Moona's rise in popularity thanks to visiting the JP Minecraft server, Kaela, whose subscriber growth was slower than her peers Zeta and Kobo, gained a substantial boost in subscribers and concurrent viewers throughout July and August 2022 thanks to the other branches visiting the ID server and realizing just how much of a grinder Kaela is. Her routinely long streams that often last a third of a day also helped in viewer retention.
    • Oddly enough, HoloCure has given more exposure to songs which were relatively overlooked beforehand due to being remixed (and due to fans wanting to hear what the original songs sound like).
    • La+'s treatment of Gamma on the VSaikyo Rust server culminated in her extorting a commission for exposure out of the manga artist. And it worked, causing his concurrent viewers to spike to over 7000 and his channel to pull in nearly triple its average daily statistics.
    • The Suika Game (also known as the Watermelon Game) was just a small name Japanese only Switch puzzle game until hololive streamers started playing it, leading it to explode in popularity. The popularity managed to get people to use Japanese accounts so they could buy it online. It also led to clones, including multiple hololive-themed ones. The ensuing popularity got Aladdin X to release the game on English markets, although with the Japanese language intact (similar to Nintendo Switch online games such as Panel de Pon which retain the original Japanese translation).
  • Content Leak:
    • During a Left 4 Dead 2 collab in mid-January of 2022, La+ accidentally leaked Botan's then-upcoming sheep hoodie costume, likely due to her grabbing the wrong L2D model for Botan from the company servers to place on screen. Her POV for the collab thus had to be privated.
    • On November 8, 2022, the official twitter account for Love Live! announced a collab with Hololive where a number of JP and ID talents would be streaming episodes of the anime's first season on their channels. However an earlier version of that tweet had Ollie and Reine in non-standard poses. Given that the only other participants pictured in non-standard poses were the talents that had 3D models, whoever made the original announcement had inadvertently revealed the existence of Ollie and Reine's 3D models prior to Cover officially announcing a 3D debut for HoloID Gen 2.
    • The names of two of the members in HoloAdvent (Nerissa Ravencroft and Shiori Novella) were accidentally revealed prior to the premiere of the gen's debut trailer in which each member's name and appearance would be fully revealed. Nerissa was accidentally leaked due to her segment appearing in the preview of the trailer that was accessible by putting the URL of the initial waiting room in Google, while Shiori was mentioned in the newspaper clipping seen in the Hololive English twitter banner, though this was a text-only leak as the name had not been tied to an appearance prior to the debut trailer going live.
    • On March 15 at around 1406EDT, just shy of 10 hours before the kickoff for the first of four concerts for the 5th HoloFes, a 4chan poster came up with a list of 10 potential compositions for units. All the listed compositions would be fully confirmed by the end of the fourth and final concert on the 17th, suggesting that whoever posted the list had access to inside information.
  • Contractual Purity: hololive was at first marketed as virtual idols rather than streamers, and hence followed Japanese norms about idol singers, which are very strict about their behaviour in public. Over time this has loosened, in part because it's much harder to keep up a carefully controlled persona when streaming for hours on end, and partly because the management realised that allowing the performers to express themselves was making them more popular. Matsuri, Marine and Choco have pushed the envelope on sexuality, and Coco pushed it on drugs and swearing. By now, it may be that they are more restricted by Youtube's rules on content than those of their management.
    • Sora is often said to be the only traditional idol left in hololive, not participating in streams revolving around drinking, sexual themes, or anything of the sort. However she has no otherwise reluctance to collab with her racier colleagues.
    • Matsuri was the first to push against this. Not only did she make her streams wild and highly sexual, she is one of the few who has no reservations about doing collabs with male streamers. In addition, one of her Fall Guys streams has her recalling that hololive staff was almost perpetually angry with her in the early days of the 1st generation, when Matsuri was the only one who acted loud and raunchy. It wasn't until 2nd generation came along that hololive staff decided to lighten up on her, as the new wave of talent brought in equally loud people such as Shion.
    • One particular taboo of the idol industry that is that female idols are forbidden from having any interaction with men. Cover Corp has no restriction in place prohibiting interactions between their male and female talents, leaving it entirely up to each individual talent as to whether or not they want to collab with streamers of the opposing gender. There is, however, without a doubt that said taboo has played heavily in the decision from some of the hololive talents, such as Noel, Flare, and Miko, to not collab with male streamers, for fear of backlash from extremely devoted fans. On the flipside, Matsuri, Aki, Suisei, Fubuki, Choco, Calli, Subaru and even Sora have done such collabs with little scandal.
      • Rushia's collaborations with Inuyama Tamaki of NoriPro, which often involve Ship Tease, have had little backlash, most likely because while the character of Tamaki is a (crossdressing) male, his voice actor is female.
      • Towa notably suffered from this. She had to take a short hiatus in March 2020 to recover from backlash ensuing from an unidentified male voice in the background of one of her streams. For a few months afterwards, only a handful of hololivers interacted with her on stream * with Towa being known more for collabing with outside VTubers Sio Kusunoki and Uruha Ichinose instead. Her subscriber count was noticeably at or near the bottom of the main branch since. Towa ended up bouncing back despite this, and for Christmas Eve 2020, she was able to use voice chat with her fans in Apex Legends without visible backlash. She has also participated in multiple online Apex Legends tournaments, like the Crazy Racoon Cup, where she interacts with male Vtubers onstream without issue.
      • Huke getting kicked out of the HoloEN Minecraft server is generally viewed to be at least partially as a result of backlash from fans who didn't want the HoloEN girls interacting with men in games.
      • The holostars are prohibited from visiting the HoloID Minecraft server after it merged with the JP/EN servers as openly stated by Ollie.
      • On the evening of February 10, 2022, a notion of Rushia dating music producer/utaite Mafumafu sprouted from a stray Discord notification of a DM from Mafumafu that appeared on her stream during a Grand Theft Auto Online collab between her and Miko Sakura, causing a perceived Yoko Oh No from both fanbases. However, in defiance of the expected drama from such an incident, Rushia's own fans, including the super-invested ones, remained supportive and heard her out. Cover also issued an official statement stating that they do not interfere with the talents' private lives and have been working against the misinformation this incident has invited.

Unfortunately, that statement came out too late, as during the preceding weekend, Rushia was found to have leaked her LINE direct messages between herself and her managernote  to a streamer who is a mutual friend of both herself and Mafumafu, in an attempt to shut down the said narrative Why could she not wait until Cover's official statement on Monday the 14th?, due to said streamer showing said DMs on a subsequent stream during the weekend without Rushia's consent. This in turn would force Cover to formally investigate the situation, and upon finding other instances in which she had leaked confidential information to those without the need-to-know, they would ultimately announce the termination of Rushia's contract at around 1500 JST on February 24, 2022.
      • That being said, given their handling of Rushia's situation, Cover's company policy is apparently a lot more lax than one would expect from an idol agency. As Matsuri puts it, it is not against Cover's policy for its talents to be in a relationship with someone else, but only as long as they keep it professional, and Hololive staff (i.e. managers) are off-limits.
    • The Indonesian and English branches, whose audiences do not share this concern about purity, have had swearing, sexual jokes and collabs with males from the start. This led to holostars having more collaborations with their Indonesian colleagues than with their compatriots, and the first hololive/holostars original song duet being between Rikka and Calliope Mori. However, the English branch is similar to the Japanese branch in that while some talents are okay collabing with men, others choose not to mention or interact with them.
      • With the debut of the Holostars EN branch TEMPUS, there were concerns among the fandom about being able to collab with the idols because of this. It became apparent right from the get-go that there are no internal restrictions stopping them. Calli immediately responded to Vesper's first tweet, and many of the girls chat with them on Twitter quite often. In just the 3rd week of August, 2022: Calli scheduled individual collabs with Vesper and Dezmond; Ollie played Apex with Dezmond and Vesper; and Bae played Mario Kart with Roberu. Seemingly with this issue in mind, one superchat asked Bae about the "possibility" of a collab with Tempus. Her response seems to lay the issue to rest.
Bae: "Is there a possibility you could collab with TEMPUS?" What you mean "is there a possibility..."? I mean, if we wanna collab, we'll just collab.
      • The five-way Dead by Daylight collab between Altare, Calli, Bae, Vesper and Kronii on August 29, 2022 resulted in a bit of a backlash from a Vocal Minority of Kronies who weren't expecting Kronii to collab with holostars members, and despite Kronii's own wishes to keep the discourse civil, some Kronies decided to abuse their membership status to lay out their entitlement towards Kronii's collab choices, triggering an infighting between fans who don't want Kronii to collab with males and those who enjoyed the collab. It's got to the point that Kronii had to address the issue near the end of her first stream of The Last Campfire, telling the upstarts not to ship people, especially not coworkers in the context of what transpired. Unfortunately, this reached a breaking point when Kronii planned a collaboration with Vesper and her fans did not take it well. This prompted Kronii to put her foot down on the matter, with Cover even issuing a statement to stand by their talents' decision.
      • Similarly, Amelia's announcement of a Worms: WMD tournament featuring her and all of TEMPUS was immediately met with pushback from a similar Vocal Minority, with the remaining majority of her fans fighting to keep their entitlement and concern trolling out of the feed.
    • Magni Dezmond's October 20th, 2022 Overwatch 2 stream was taken down due to him dropping an extremely vulgar rant against the game and Blizzard Entertainment in response to certain flaws in the game's architecture, suggesting that he would do Cover a favor if his vitriol got the permissions revoked. As he explained to Selen Tatsuki (who also happens to be an Overwatch League ambassador), it initially wasn't a problem until the rant got clipped and forced his hand.
  • Creator Backlash:
    • In a broad, primarily lighthearted lens, many talents tend to look back on their debut streams or early content with embarrassment or cringe, especially if they have had a considerable shift in personality and character development since their introduction. One can find such clips for just about any talent of any branch on YouTube by typing "Hololive debut reaction" into the search bar.
    • Seven months after Myth's "Country Roads" cover release, none of them seem to be fond of it, and Kiara in particular has expressed a desire to never hear it again.
    • Gura is very embarrassed about her very first gaming stream, Maneater, which she felt was a poor showing, and prefers to not have it brought up.
    • The HLZNTL gaming project was Quietly Cancelled after its debut exhibition matches in Overwatch 2 and some Valorant streams, with Towa explaining that its corporate nature had caused many of the participants to feel more stressed-out than a typical competition. Not helping matters was the now-infamous Hololive vs. Holostars match in the former game, which both heavily favored the Holostars in skill balance and pitted them against several Hololive talents otherwise disinterested in interacting with them (Lui, Chloe, and IRyS), leading to negative fan reception as well. While the talents have admitted positive outcomes from the project (mostly in networking), HLZNTL itself is by and large considered fundamentally flawed.
  • Defictionalization:
    • The pins on Towa's hat Bibi were sold as limited-time goods for Towa's 3D debut while replicas of Bibi (minus the horns) were sold for her first birthday celebration. Her first anniversary merchandise included a keychain based on the zipper pull tab on her jacket's left sleeve.
    • Fans have taken it upon themselves to defictionalize certain AsaCoco products such as the AsaCoco Mist and the websites for AsaCoco University and FuckBook but these are just mock-ups instead of fully functioning products. She has, however, released a plush version of her iconic tail plug as anniversary merchandise.
    • The BEEGSmol 3DVR models of CouncilRyS received their plush versions as merchandise celebrating their first anniversary together.
  • Demand Overload: This has happened a few times to platforms and streaming services that Cover has chosen or partnered with to host live concerts for them.
    • Suisei's Stellar in the Galaxy concert saw the SPWN platform completely collapse upon itself due to the sheer number of her fans trying to access the waiting room. This affected only that particular concert given that there were no other events running con-currently at that point in time.
    • The mass influx of viewers trying to rush the waiting room for the first of two concerts for Hololive Summer Party did the same for the Z-an platform, except in this instance, it crashed the platform so hard that it also crashed an entirely different concert that was ongoing at the same time. Both concerts ended up being suspended, though the first Summer Party concert would later be made available on the hololive Youtube channel for free 17 hours afterward as compensation.
  • Disowned Adaptation: Most, if not all talent are generally quite lenient with fan content, especially "clippers" who edit and compartmentalize their many lengthy streams into more accessible fan videos. However, there have been instances of bad actors that have provoked a direct response from the talent in question, and sometimes even from Cover Corp as a whole (to the point of updating their derivative content policy in June 2022, with a large section dedicated towards discouraging clipping with the purpose of being misleading, disparaging, or inflammatory).
    • /r/hololive moderator T-chan warned against the quality of OtakMori Translations along with hololive taking down their translation of Aloe's apology video.
T-chan: Removed because OtakMori has proven time and time again to be an incompetent translator. And for this situation, you cannot rely on this person's translations.
    • "Kami Clips [HololiveEN Clips] - ē„žć‚ÆćƒŖ惃惗", already of dubious credibility for clickbait-y titles and thumbnails, caught the ire of redditors finding out that their clips presented Kiara's comments about getting a collaboration project rejected in a negative light, shifting the blame on management when the full context of the rejection was undisclosed. It was bad enough that Kiara herself had to comment on the clipper taking her words out of context and wrongfully throwing a mob at management.
    • Similarly, Iroha Translation (not to be mistaken with the holoX talent, Iroha Kazama) and their implied successor channel Fuwamomo are blacklisted in most translation communities due to their tendency to overly dramatize clips and give false impressions by leaving out critical context. Two such examples that resulted in massive backlash are the time when they framed Kanata as hating her mother "Sayuri", and turning Flare's insistence on being called a half elf into a racial issue; it's serious enough that Flare brought up the issue of bad clippers on her talking streams a number of times. As for the Fuwamomo identity specifically, the vast majority of their videos use the talents' other identities to promote them (for example, a clip from an alter-ego may instead refer to them as the talent or use them for the thumbnail instead of the alter-ego's avatar) and ignore the wishes of certain channels to not be clipped, both instant sources of scorn in most parts of the community.
    • The BGM for Calli's fanmade Magical Girl Transformation Sequence animation (often used as a starting screen for streams) was removed from her official use in August 2023 and its composer excommunicated after they made disparaging remarks towards Fuwamoco.
    • Video essayist Depressed Nousagi (who had previously done comprehensive breakdowns of the Taiwan incident and the initial fallout of Aloe's graduation & Rushia's termination) was blacklisted from all official Cover business in light of a scandal that exposed him for selling highly sensitive information regarding the pasts of EN's talents.
  • Distanced from Current Events:
    • After Council and IRyS killed the Enderdragon together in Minecraft on a set of July 2022 streams, memes began appearing that joked how Fauna had injured her back putting in most of the effort for the fight. As the stream aired on the cusp of Sana's graduation, which is strongly implied to implicate a back injury from early in her career, T-chan declared the jokes a bit too close for comfort and had to ask the subreddit to dial it back.
    • In February 2024, Altare uploaded a greenscreen meme with his 3D model, where he reenacts Twomad's famous "goodnight girl, I'll see you tomorrow" clip. Twomad himself died from an overdose a few days later, prompting Altare to delete his original post.
  • Doing It for the Art: Marine reveals during a retrospective on the Link Your Wish paid concert that her third original song, "Marine Set Sail!!", cost about four times as much money to make as her previous single in "Unison", and going by the MV (which features top-notch hand-drawn animation courtesy from Studio Pierrot), it's a lot; so much that it took away a lot of Marine's salary, though she's satisfied by the result.
  • Dueling Works: With Nijisanji, another VTuber company with a large cast. This does lean a lot into Friendly Rivalry, however, given that the characters from both sides do collaborations quite frequently.
  • Executive Meddling:
    • Before her first outing, Suisei fought hard against this when higher ups insisted she change her name and disassociate herself from Vtubers outside hololive, especially those she was friends with whom she keeps in touch. She eventually won her right to use her name and kept references of her past solo outings, and thus, was able to collaborate with friends she knew before she came to the company.
    • Mel's absence from anything other than collab streams was a result of dealing with a harassment campaign specifically against her that went from October 2019 all the way up to March 2020. One line from her that sticks out to several fan translators is that she felt like she didn't receive support from the people she expected (e.g. hololive/Cover Corp. higher-ups) and had even gotten as far as retaining a lawyer as well as having a cease and desist issued upon the perpetrator, with the implication being that Cover Corp. did not help her with legal matters. When the dust settled and both Mel and Cover Corp. were more comfortable with talking about the incident, the latter apologized on their official Twitter for not doing enough in a timely manner.
    • According to various members, the managers used to be very strict about making sure the girls were seen as "pure idols", often stepping in during streams to make sure certain subjects or things said were either prevented, or they could control the situation better. Matsuri in particular was often singled out early on because of her raunchy personality and lack of a filter, causing her to often clash with the managers. As time has gone on, they've gotten more lax about this, likely because they realized many of the girls became popular because they weren't "pure idols". Coco for example used to be heavily hit by this, but as time went on she was given more freedom by the staff.
    • Following Coco's return from her 3-week suspension as a result of the Taiwan incident, she was placed under heavy restrictions, both in terms of collabs with other members, as well as sponsorships, to stop the pro-CCP antis that were continuing to attack her from flooding into the chats of those she was collabing with. Notably, these restrictions also meant that she was unable to even interact with the just-debuted members of Hololive's first English generation, Myth, despite Coco effectively spearheading the creation of the branch in the first place. The restrictions, as well as the constant barrage of hate from Chinese antis, would heavily contribute to a case of imposter syndrome, and culminate in her request to graduate in March 2021, at which time the restrictions (including the interaction ban with Myth) were slowly lifted. Her graduation would be announced 3 months later on June 9th, with a date set for July 1st.
    • Potential collabs with the English branch of Nijisanji were teased by some of the talents, but never materialized despite their best wishes, hinting at interference from either company's middle management. What makes this jarring is that the non-EN branches from both companies are allowed to hold crossover collabs with zero backlash.
      • Selen Tatsuki teased a collab with Ollie in December 2021 that ultimately never materialized. Stranger still, both Selen and Ollie were able to hold individual APEX Legends streams just fine. Then October 2022, after Alban and Altare announced their collab, Selen posted on her Twitter account that her long-awaited collab with Ollie is finally happening and this time, Zeta is joining as well.
      • Kiara and Pomu Rainpuff are fans of each other and interact a lot on Twitter, but are heavily implied to be stiffled by their respective agencies. Kiara initially addressed this during a superchat reading in late October 2021, but had to re-iterate this months later in July 2022, with Kiara noting that a collab will likely never happen "in light of recent developments". August 2022, however, would see the first unofficial collab between the two, with Pomu submitting her bag for Kiara's What's in your bag? stream. On October 2022, Kiara posted her schedule confirming that her collab with Pomu will finally push through.
      • Then on October 2022, Altare announced on his Twitter account that he would be having a Terraria collab with Alban Knox. Likewise, Alban posted on his schedule, confirming his collab with Altare. The announcement shocked many fans, causing many to believe that the English branch management of both companies has finally come to terms to allow their talents to collab with each other. Altare confirms on his chatting stream that it's indeed the effort of his and Alban's managers who worked so hard to get the collab approved. He's aware that the collab is the first step to closing the gap between Hololive and Nijisanji English branches without any fear of backlash.
    • A lack of initial executive oversight led Cover to private Mumei's music video for her "Dan Dan" cover shortly after it was uploaded for the sake of proper scrutiny, as it was uploaded only half an hour after Mumei and Cover were shown the video's contents.
    • Pekora reveals that the entirety of hololive Production's talents are not allowed to stream when there's a new or current talent are having an eventnote . This is to avoid having the talent (or new talent's) attention taken away from them. This is perfectly fair, since it allows them to shine and draw in new viewers. This was dialed back in the advent of the debut for holostars ARMIS in late 2023, such that this rule only applied to those within the same branch as the new or current talent having a major event.
    • holostars TEMPUS' first few weeks had them restricted to 1-hour streams during American prime time with the presumed goal of presenting easily digestible content to their potential audience note  while passing their viewers to each other back-to-back in their 4-hour timeslotnote . Vanguard in particular had Shinri, Hakka, Bettel, and Flayon announce after two weeks that their 1-hour streaming restriction was over and the new timeslot they would normally stream at.
  • Fake Brit: Ame casually insists on hailing from the UK, even though her accent doesn't suggest anything like it, and her attempts to speak like a Brit fall under Brief Accent Imitation.
  • Fan Community Nicknames:
    • All hololive talent gets assigned an "official" nickname for their fanbase before they even debut, but whether it sticks varies. Using Hololive English as an example: Mori's "deadbeats" stuck, Gura's "chumbuddies" stuck and is used interchangeably with "shrimps" (a term she came up with impromptu), and Amelia's "amellionaires" didn't work out and got dropped in favor of "teamates" (which the fans came up with). Kiara's "Kiara Fan Club" is largely ignored in favor of "KFP Crew" or simply "KFP," which stands for "Kiara Fried Phoenix" and is the name of her fast food chain. Some of her more diehard fans rename their Youtube accounts to include job titles such as "KFP Janitor" or "Head of KFP Marketing." Ina'nis' fans are officially called the "Tentacult" ("tentacle" + "cult"), but many prefer calling themselves "takodachi" ("tako", a Japanese word for octopus, and "tomodachi", a Japanese word for friends), with Tentacult being used to collectively refers to her entire fanbase while takodachi is used for individual or smaller scope of fans.
    • The Japanese fanbase calls the overseas fanbase "Kaigainiki" (ęµ·å¤–ćƒ‹ć‚), which means "Overseas Bros". Similarly, the English fanbase calls the Japanese fanbase "JP Bros".
    • Aki Rose's fans identify as "good boys/girls", after teasing the chat with flirtatious comments during a talk stream.
    • For Fubuki, "Friends" could be considered as one, especially after her English fans popularized it into a Running Gag, with even Fubuki herself often using this to greet her overseas viewers.
    • Korone refers to her English-speaking fans as "X Potatoes", a reference to a moment where she mispronounced the name "Exposito" (a boss character from Blasphemous) as "Expotato", which said fans found very funny.
    • For Marine, she dubs her western viewers, in her Maringlish, as "sexy overseas guys/ladies." The first instance of her calling them sexy is with her collab with Kiara, where she declares that's what she thinks of her overseas viewers.
    • Nene's fans are officially known as "Nekkos", but they call themselves her "Husbands", regardless of whether they're male or female.
    • For Gura, "Shrimps" is the unofficial nickname for her fanbase. It's basically "simp" with a seafood-related twist.
    • Civia's fanbase may be Knights under record, but they also acknowledged themselves as "Dum-Dums" after her YouTube debut.
    • IRyS's fanbase is officially named IRyStocrats, and the channel members Nephamily, but a number of them call themselves Taxpayers owing to the similarity of her name to the acronym of America's Internal Revenue Service.
    • Roberu's fans are properly called Regulars but they often refer to themselves as his parents.
    • Sora's fanbase is officially called "Sora-tomo" ("Sora-friends"), but she's fond of calling her first thirteen viewers on Nico Nico Douga the "Knights of the Round Table", an overseas Fan Nickname for them that Sora discovered and used herself.
    • Fans of Holostars Tempus started calling themselves as "Tempura" after the term was suggested in one of Axel's streams in pre-chat.
    • For the Japanese branch of Holostars, while they have an official term for their fans(ćƒ›ćƒć‚¹ć‚æ갑), many overseas fans adopted the term "Starlights" after the term was coined by Ollie during her reaction stream of Holostars' first original song, Just Follow Stars.
    • Advent collectively refer to their fans as "Adventrix," making them the first EN branch with an official nickname for the fans of the entire generation.
    • Fans of Holostars Armis are called "Armada" which is ironic given that in lore, Armis is stationed in the desert badlands.
  • Fanwork Ban:
    • Cover has a policy for fanworks. Outside of regular copyright legalese and a typical safety-net "we can strike anything we like if we feel something isn't right" clause, it forbids the use of any talent's likeness as a mouthpiece for any serious real-world issue or corporate or large-scale for-profit interests. There is also a small list of songs excluded from the policy, which forbids them from being used in fanworks at all.
    • Astel isn't a fan of serious shipping when it involves himself, due to a mix of Only the Creator Does It Right and issues with professionalism and fandom drama. This goes double for NeoPorte's Niu Yozuna, as while their actual relationship is an interplay of genuine heart-to-hearts and pretending to be a married couple, he befriended her for a reason and feels an actual ship would limit her ability to work with others — thereby rendering his efforts pointless.
  • Follow the Leader: Ame began the concept of "Smol Ame", where vtubers who did not yet have costumes / 3D models, utilized a fanmade chibi VR model. This would take off and be adopted by many other vtubers both from Hololive and outside the company, making use of unofficial 3D chibi models to get around model limitations.
  • God Never Said That:
    • A number of fans have claimed that Calli's "Off With Their Heads" song was a diss track aimed at people who wanted to become Vtubers but aren't putting in the effort to do so (often called the Debut TBD/Soon crowd, or more derisively as vTweeters), more specifically, those that took her honest advice of "Stop tweeting, start creating" note  and perceived it as an insult to the point of firing back at Calli with accusations of "Corporate Shill". Calli has stated multiple times that the song was not one, and that people are misinterpreting her words.
    • Yagoo never said hololive was an entertainment company. He said Cover was an entertainment company, which is accurate: As noted under What Could Have Been, it started out as a VR technology company, with hololive being the name of a motion capture software they created that developed into a streaming platform, and then into the group we know today. And with the release of Hololive Alternative, they have also branched out into other media.
    • With the announcement of Coco's graduation from hololive, fans assumed Coco would still be around the company in some form, with being a manager (which is what she had originally applied to Cover Corp for) or tech support being popular guesses. Coco herself addressed this, stating that she won't stay in any form and that she's pursuing other opportunities.
    • Also related to Coco's graduation, there are a number of people who claim that Coco's reasoning for leaving was largely due to the Taiwan incident in 2020. Coco has never once implied or even vaguely allude to the idea that she was leaving because of that. What was given at the time is a vague idea that she was feeling like it was time to move on, with one stream clarifying she felt the need to do so due to finding herself slowly demotivated whenever she has thoughts comparing herself to the other members, note  feeling the need to quit early before descending further into a negative viewpoint, among other reasons.
    • Mumei's infamous cursed portrait from the third Passpartout stream, which was later used for the "Nightmare" emote and the "True Horror" special in HoloCure, is often attributed as a portrait of Suisei as she was in the middle of drawing Suisei, who had left a comment in the stream's chat, before drawing it. The initial rough outline resembling Suisei (The face shape and hair) and the prevalence of the "Suicopath" meme very likely contributed to this. After fans started pointing this out to other hololive members during their HoloCure streams, including Suisei, Mumei pointed out that she never said that the drawing was of Suisei. Rather, she was frustrated with the way her portrait of Suisei was turning out, so she sketched out that cursed face to relieve some stress. Fans who had watched the full stream later corroborated with Mumei, pointing out that she labeled the portrait "a mistake" and did draw a proper picture of Suisei (a close-up of her eye) immediately afterwards.
  • Inspiration for the Work: Hololive's V-tuber era was inspired by idol group AKB48.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes:
    • As noted under Screwed by the Lawyers, Mio nearly getting permanently banned from copyright strikes led to hololive mass privatizing their archives from before June 2020, the date when they've started adding in stream descriptions that they've obtained company permissions. The website holotools displays a percentage of videos that remain public for each talent with Miko and Choco having eighty percent of their videos still privated as of December 2020. As a result, many fansubbed video series running concurrently with these streams at the time ended up inadvertently becoming examples of this trope.
    • Anything and everything around Hitomi Chris, due to Cover taking everything down and scrubbing her out of all official art and most records.
    • Singing streams when the stream in question is not going to be archived. Very common for English language karaoke streams due to the threat of copyright strikes. That is also the reason they aren't monetised. Coco would also not archive them due to her lower confidence in her musical ability. This doesn't stop fans from uploading clips of songs or even the entire karaoke stream to their own channels however. That said, some of the talents like Astel and Moona make it clear that their unarchived singing should not be reuploaded.
    • Suzaku Yakushiji's channel was wiped alongside Kaoru Tsukishita's following the latter's departure from the company, with Suzaku himself having left 4 months prior. Likewise, Rushia Uruha's channel was wiped a month after she was booted from the company. The only sources left for their content are via fan reuploads, though good luck finding any reuploads for Suzaku and Kaoru's content.
    • Member only streams are often archived for 'pirate' distribution to non-members as well as for the use of members in the event they cease membership. However, Calli in particular is an aversion to this, as she makes members streams available for all viewers roughly 1 month after their original broadcast. Several other EN talent will release archives of their member streams, either due to a similar sentiment that their content should be allowed for everyone or as a sort of "preview" for what viewers on the fence about purchasing a membership can hope to experience.
    • On September 28, 2020, three days after the "Taiwan incident", the channel "Hololive Moments" privated all of their videos and released a statement to protest against Cover Corp's decision to suspend Coco for 3 weeks rather than terminating her right then and there. Some of the channel's more memorable content, like bilibili shitposting (e.g. the Suisei The Shining parody), Aqua's Super Mario Maker 2 "Road to S Rank" montages, and Matsuri's Syobon Action playthrough also went under with the channel, and there are almost no mirrors for their content. If /r/hololive was any indication, most then-current fan translators were content with keeping it this way in fear of looking like they agreed with said channel's political views, as it was shortly after the statement went live that screenshots which purportedly showed pro-CCP antis voicing their support of the channel on Chinese social media networks such as NGA, began circulating online, leading to the statement's comments section getting slammed with accusations of the channel siding with the Chinese pro-CCP antis that have been harassing Coco before and after the incident. On the other hand, average viewers who didn't really care about the politics surrounding the channel were just plain disappointed to find out that a lot of genuinely funny bilibili content is now possibly gone forever from YouTube.
    • Other streams can get edited or even privated altogether, either due to technical difficulties rendering the stream nearly unwatchable and being a black spot on a particular content creator's archives or due to the archive itself possibly causing trouble outside of Youtube. Kiara had experienced technical issues that resulted in the removal of a Fire Emblem stream, and the nature of Calliope's Persona 3 begging stream was questionable in possibly evoking an undesired reaction; while she had intended it mostly to be a joke and push on social media through a very specific hashtag, people had started to tag Atlus' official Twitter account to spam it. She eventually revealed the real reason it was taken down was because it used Atlus' music (albeit heavily distorted) without their permission and she/the management wanted to avoid any potential legal trouble.
    • Because of the rule change that forced Haachama to prematurely end her HAACHAMAƗAkaihaato horror arc, she privated most of the videos related to that arc excluding the H-Art Contest, Valentines Cooking, LOLICHAMA, and #NEVERENDINGSTORY, the last of which exists as somewhat of an explanation for why she couldn't finish the arc and that she's taking a break for a little while in general. Luckily, there has been a fan effort to archive the videos elsewhere on youtube, with Haachama Refuge housing all of the privated lore videos as of March 2021. Thankfully, the original Haachama vs Akaihaato arc videos have been restored on her channel since then.
    • During Amelia Watson's first charity stream, fan composer HoloBass threatened to take action against the stream because he was not contacted for permission to use his instrumentation of Pop on Rocks on stream. This, on top of an ongoing situation of COVER not responding to inquiries regarding the song's presence on music hosting platforms, ultimately led to HoloBass wiping every video off of his channel except for a single video explaining/apologizing for his actions. Regardless of their stance in sympathizing or condemning his actions, many people agree that his music is really good and should have been preserved on the channel for fans to enjoy independent of his actions.
    • For some unexplained reason, many of the early Holo no Graffiti episodes from 2019 to mid-2020 have been privated on the official Hololive channel, but are still available on bilibili.
    • Almost all of Suisei's old VTubing files were accidentally deleted in mid-2021 due to an improper backup when she was transitioning to a new computer, as she meant to give the old one to Anemachi. This is about three years' worth of data, including most of her streaming materials and her original Live2D model, though against all odds, a backup of the model has since been discovered and ended up being used during a performance of NEXT COLOR PLANET as part of Suisei's 5th anniversary concert.
  • Life Imitates Art:
  • Meme Acknowledgment: See also AscendedMeme/hololive for when memes show up in the streams/videos on a talent's channel or hololive anime shorts.
  • Milestone Celebration:
    • Reaching new milestone subscriber counts usually results in some form of celebration. The main milestone being that at 100,000 subs they would get a 3D model and a special 3D debut stream as well as new merchandise available for purchase. Many of the members would celebrate rolling over to x00,000 subs by streaming the number ticking over, or via a special celebration stream after they reach the goal.
    • In the case of Gura, she didn't get to properly celebrate any milestone due to her rapid sub count growth and only had a "thank you" stream for her record-breaking 1 million subs milestone. For 2 million, she was able to do an endurance stream to it, followed by a celebration stream. However, she has yet to even acknowledge her 3 million milestone, despite being the first vTuber to ever reach it. She did, however, celebrate 4 million subs.
  • Mid-Development Genre Shift:
    • An unusual example. When it was first founded, Cover Corp had nothing to do with the Virtual Celebrity business it is known for today, being a rather humble software company aimed at the development of AR and VR technology instead, with one of its first commercial products being a VR table tennis game for the HTC Vive. About a year into its operation, the company decided to retool its in-house assets in an experiment to replicate the successes of Hatsune Miku and Kizuna Ai, with Tokino Sora being its first and flagship "idol". The rest is history.
    • Same goes for its newfound focus on the western market. During the early days, not even Kizuna Ai tackled the western market proper and instead focused solely on the home market, as most vtuber companies did during those days. Then, completely out of left field, clips of hololive members such as Miko plays Grand Theft Auto V, Fubuki sings "Scatman" acapella, and lyger's clip of Matsuri's infamous band-aid story went viral. All of this would lead to a sudden influx of western fans to their viewer base and chats, catching everyone by surprise. note  Seeing that there is indeed a western market out there for vtubers, they eventually created the Hololive English branch. The rest is history.
  • Money, Dear Boy: hololive's involvement in China can be traced back to around late 2018/early 2019, back when the entire operation was running on a shoestring budget before YouTube monetized their channels. hololive and Cover Corp. were desperate for money back then and turned to bilibili in the hopes of making it big there, and they did for a time. Their first Crossover with Azur Lane was also thanks in large part to bilibili, the game's Chinese publisher. While the Coco incident did sour Hololive to the Chinese market, Hololive's continued growth, bolstered in large part by the runaway success of Hololive English, meant they could break away from China safely without impacting their bottom line.
  • Newbie Boom: The English branch's arrival on September 2020 did wonders in boosting the popularity, fanbase size, and worldwide online presence of hololive, as evidenced by the spikes shown in the Google Trends graph for "Hololive" and the SocialBlade stats of the official hololive YouTube channel's subscriber counts for that month.
  • No Export for You:
    • Since YouTube is Banned in China, most of hololive's Chinese talent only streamed on bilibili. The closest thing to their streams getting wholly mirrored to YouTube was fansubbed clips, which obviously don't paint the whole picture. With the ending of Hololive China, most of that side of the fansubbing ended sadly, and many of those translated clips have been lost.
    • Some concerts, live events, and radio shows are unavailable outside of Japan. However, due to hololive's growth outside of Japan, more and more paid concerts started being streamed from the Japanese-operated site SPWN, and some radio shows can be found in JOQR, which is accessible outside of Japan. However, radio shows in NHK is still a no-go, since NHK does not allow payments outside of Japan.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: As the agency has grown, they've started to incorporate fan submissions into their own content and given proper credit when it is due:
    • Coco's "Reddit Meme Review" guests get announced in advance so that the English speaking community over on Reddit is able to create content specifically tailored to her guest. Coco will use some of this content (as well as general posts she finds entertaining) in order to explain what the overseas community thinks of the guest or just to have a laugh at their other coworkers.
    • Haachama regularly hosts fan submission review shows. This has included cooking contests, "horror" contests (video submissions or illustrations), and...erotic art contests. A lot of her stranger "shitpost" videos are actually fan submissions using her model in MMD that she provides line readings for and edits.
    • As part of her debut, Calli hosted a remix contest (with the winner and runner-up being featured on her opening and closing slides for 6 weeks) and will play different submissions that she's found enjoyable as part of her stream introduction whenever she can.
    • Marine hosted a "meme contest" with the winning video being hosted on her channel as well as the winner being given a special illustration for use as a profile picture and banner on social media.
    • Ollie conducted a Twitter Poll to let fans decide on the name of her fanbase. "Zomrades" won over the other choice, "Ollience".
  • Orphaned Reference: Koroneraiser Inu-more was created by Yuzo Koshiro in response to Korone playing ActRaiser. The song is popular among her fans, but the ActRaiser stream has been made private following the great purge and has yet to be restored.
  • Promoted Fanboy:
    • Marine's love of Touhou Project eventually culminated in being a podcast guest with series creator ZUN, as well as working with well-known fan remix group COOL & CREATE on several projects; notably, an original character song she featured on her channel as well as being a vocalist (along with several other hololive members) on their latest Touhou remix album.
    • Iofi is a big fan of Iida Pochi's works, which makes her fit this trope when Pochi (who is a Vtuber herself) invites Iofi to a drawing collab stream. This, in fact, is Iofi's first ever collab stream, just a month after her launch. The two of them became close enough friends that they covered "Happy Synthesizer" together to celebrate Iofi's sixth month debut anniversary and Pochi attributes her friendship with Iofi as the reason she wanted to design a character for hololive Indonesia which led to her becoming Reine's artist.
    • Sakura Miko, before her illness, was able to sing for an upcoming eroge game called Aikiss 2 along with Marine, and surprisingly enough, AZKi, as Miko herself is a fan of eroge games.
    • Suisei is a fan of Cardfight!! Vanguard, as she has streamed Vanguard Zero. She eventually becomes a unique card for the hololive collaboration with Bushiroad.
    • Kiara has listed one of her favorite intellectual property as Steins;Gate, and was justifiably excited that her artist was huke, the character designer for the game as well as the man behind Black★Rock Shooter.
    • Ina said during one stream that she was a fan of hololive as far back as 2018, and the idea that she was part of the group now still didn't feel "real" even a month after her debut. She was also a huge fan of Kuroboshi Kouhaku, outright calling him "one of my most respected illustrators of all time", before he was hired to create her character design.
    • In addition to the talents getting to work with people and companies they are fans of, several fans have gotten to work directly with the girls on a number of projects.
      • Most of the girls will use fanart as thumbnails and will promote creators over Twitter, and some fanartists are prominent and well-regarded enough to receive regular promotion and be followed by the girls, such as Mamaloni and Walf (mentioned above.) Some artwork from fan artists were also commissioned by the talent for use in music videos and other projects.
      • NexatG, a hololiveEN clipper who specializes in Kiara content, was asked by her to edit an end-of-year clip show to be featured on her main channel.
      • Jin Teramachi, a clipper, and translator of Okayu, has gone on to make subtitles for some official content on the main channel.
      • Twitch streamer Koefficient has been acknowledged several times and has gained notoriety among both fans and talent alike as a "hip expert." Aki Rosenthal has commented on his video of him watching her dance, Coco and Haachama have both watched his videos of him reacting to them (Coco's 3D debut and Haachama's tarantula cooking, respectively) and Coco has reached out to him in order to produce a 1 minute video for her regular meme review show. His videos have been clipped by the Japanese and subtitled.
      • Cover itself also knows the reach it has, and in January 2021, placed a want ad for an experienced bilingual editor to work as a clipper in an official capacity for the main channel; said want ad was placed on the official subreddit first, arguably the largest gathering of English speaking fans on the Internet.
    • Lyger, a well-known Matsuri clipper, has done translation work for many of the main channel's Holo no Graffiti and hololive ERROR 3D and animated manga episodes.
    • Rickchama a very well-known hololive Indonesia and English clipper, has done official translation work for hololive Indonesia's offical channel.
    • CupZ, a hololive Minecraft creator, did collaboration work with Kiara Takanashi with the KFP.
    • Kanauru who uses 3D models for many members, did official work with EN by using model for Smol Adventures. Kanauru later did the full production for Gura's Birthday 3D live concert, using their official 3D models.
    • KeenBiscuit is an Indonesian illustrator well-known for his numerous fanarts of Hololive's talents, especially HoloID Generation 2, and is followed on Twitter by many of the idols themselves, with most of Advent also using his fanart of them as stream avatars on a regular basis. Such is Keen's popularity that after numerous endorsements from the HoloID members, his chibi designs of them were made into official models in the same vein as Walfie's Smol Myth.
    • Ludokano initially gained recognition among the fanbase for his comedic animations, generally of Bijou and other Advent members, before exploding in popularity for his infamous Sticking out your gyatt for Nerizzler music video. Come 2024 April Fools, Cover officially promoted his Unseal: Dance Curse trailer for Advent on their main channel that's best described as a meme-laden acid trip.
    • Bandai Namco is familiar with Hololive and has praised certain idols for their love of their own games. For example, Gura was cheered on when she played Taiko no Tatsujin. After the EN-Myth branch appeared at Anime Expo 2021, Kiara was allowed to announce that she was promoted to the official ambassador for Tales of Arise and held a promotional video showing off the game's features because she has expressed how much the Tales of series is Kiara's favorite RPG series.
    • The developers of Sausage Legend, having learned of Subaru's love for their original title, decided to show their own appreciation for her support in the form of officially licensed character models wearing her outfits (and Koyori's) that can be obtained in the sequel. Needless to say, Subaru herself was very much surprised of this revelation, as well as Cover's decision to make the collaboration happen in the first place.
  • Reality Subtext: Each one of Suisei's succeeding songs has the context of her life until NEXT COLOR PLANET where she manages to succeed in her career in hololive in spite of those struggles. GHOST gives the context where she not only wants to succeed more, but other Vtubers and that they don't end up being a simple niche market. Essentially, she doesn't want Vtubers, including herself, to be a "ghost" and be lost to memory.
  • Reclusive Artist: Like most Virtual Youtubers, their real identities remain anonymous and at the very least will never be referred to directly by staff or the talent. How anonymous they truly are is all over the map. The fan community generally refuses to explicitly reveal or discuss this information, considers "doxxing" to be a serious offence, and moderated forums like Reddit and 4chan (who call it "room-mate posting") will delete posts & ban users for posting even indirect references to their real identity.
  • The Red Stapler: Nene mentioning a specific brand of perfume caused it to shoot to the top of Amazon's best sellers list .

  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor:
    • While there is speculation that Hitomi Chris was terminated due to a breach of contract, the announcement of Rushia's contract termination in late February 2022 was the first time Cover makes an official statement of that nature, citing the leaking of sensitive information as one of the main reasons she was let go of the company; a leak bad enough for Cover to fire their highest-earning talent (and the most superchatted YouTube channel, period) and refund tickets for fans of Rushia who wanted to watch the Link Your Wish concert.
    • Yozora Mel, who was re-assigned to Gen 1 following Chris' termination shortly after the latter's debut, would also end up getting fired from the company in January 2024 for breach of NDA, though in her case it was accidental, and she was allowed to release a statement about it, making it clear it was discussed and mutually agreed upon.
  • Rule 34 ā€“ Creator Reactions:
    • For Hololive Japan members, Kanata's fine with it, Watame said she likes it, Coco and Luna wanted more, and Matsuri was downright giddy to learn her favorite hentai artist wanted to draw her. Marine's eager for more, even saying she wanted more rape doujins of herself. Aki likes it, and helpfully pointed out her love of Naughty Tentacles. Miko thought she didn't have any until she logged into Pixiv and was happy to see it. Haachama reviewed hers on stream. TWICE. Sora, being a more traditional idol, has politely asked not to be featured. Suisei tells her fans to not use her fan tags for such art.
    • Among the HoloMyth bunch, Amelia more or less revealed (while trying to downplay her own pervert status) that she doesn't mind the "art", but wishes they wouldn't draw her chest so large and would keep it separate from the rest of the art so people who don't want to or shouldn't see it won't have to. She even created a special hashtag called amelewds for twitter for it, so as to keep it apart from the normal fanart. Kiara has also asked people to draw her in swimsuits, both as a way to promote fan artists by including their art in her thumbnails for her Super Mario Sunshine streams and just because she wants to see herself in a swimsuit. Calliope has mentioned that she is fine with the more sexy art as long as they understand she cannot show it off in the show or like it since she doesn't want the little ones to see it. She also admits to sometimes forgetting to turn off the R-18 filter on Pixiv and her curiosity gets the better of her. And Ina has said she is quite fine with it and eventually made a proper hashtag for it like Amelia has under 4thWah.
    • Hololive Indonesia is in a bit of a tricky situation. All of them have requested that no lewd art of them be created. But not only do they all make rather spicy remarks regularly and have streams filled with innuendo, but Ayunda Risu originally said that she liked it on twitter. She later deleted that message and switched to this stance. This is almost certainly due to the laws in Indonesia which ban pornography and "actions deemed indecent".
    • After Pekora introduced her real mother on stream, there's been lots of fanart of her, with some portraying her as a busty milf. While Pekora appreciates the support from her fan artists, she finds that specific portrayal of her mom rather strange.
    • Pekora also mentions while she ends up seeing lewd fanart of herself, she's not against it, citing that art is art, and is fine with it.
    • Among the Holostars boys, Magni recalls about a fanartist who sent him a very NSFW fanart of himself and while his initial reaction was "Ayo?", he likes it. However, he claims that he's a "seiso" idol who doesn't endorse this until he gives a Secret Message Wink to his viewers, telling them to do what they must. Amusingly, he jokes about wearing a cow-kini while streaming, and then, one superchat asks if he's all right about fanarts of him wearing the cow-kini. Magni looks at the viewers straight in the eye and tells them to do it.
    • In January of 2023, a comedy video was posted on Youtube in which an AI program was used to mimic Calliope's voice and mannerisms to depict her having relations with a horse. This lead to a lot of R34 being made about her. On April 1st, during her official Sheriff outfit reveal stream, she went on record to state that she hopes that all the artists who paired her with horses can get the help that they need, while also wondering why people don't actually ship her with "hot characters" like, for example, Leon S. Kennedy.
Calli: Those of you drawing me with horses... Y'all are into some fucked up shit, and I hope y- I hope you get the help you need.
    • On the contrary, Shiori approves of the use of her likeness in AI for all purposes including the naughty ones, and has even mentioned working on her own model on several occasions. However, she would like to inform any potential users that she is not as easy to seduce as how most models interpret her personality.
  • Running the Asylum: Almost every talent in Myth and beyond was a fan of someone before them before joining, which readily shows in the chance that they do get to interact with each other in public.
  • Schedule Slip:
    • Following the Taiwan Incident in September 2020 and Cover Corp's decision to completely cut ties with the Chinese market, a decision was made to completely re-design Nene Momosuzu, as her existing outfit had Chinese-inspired elements. This decision ended up putting two things on hold: Nene's planned New Years' outfit, as well as her 3D debut, both of which were dependent on her new design being revealed first. Her re-design was revealed in mid-January of 2021, the same time the rest of Gen 5 were having their 3D debuts. She'd end up missing the Bloom concert the next month as her 3D model would not be ready until April. Meanwhile, her New Years' outfit was debuted alongside HoloX's on New Years' Day 2022, a full year after the rest of Gen 5 revealed theirs'.
    • HoloJP's Gen 4 were originally slated to have their idol outfits revealed a few weeks prior to Hololive's 2nd live concert Beyond The Stage, which took place in late December 2020. However, issues arising with Luna's idol outfit led to the reveals being pushed back into new year, with the talents instead performing in their original outfits. Their idol outfits would finally be revealed a few months later in March 2021.
    • Kiara showed great interest in being able to stream the side-scroller JRPG Lost Epic, with HoloPro in general obtaining permissions to stream it in Early 2021, shortly after release. However, a busy schedule, plus the game's artist joining Hololive that summer, meant that Kiara had to sit on those permissions, as not only would it have been very awkward to play the game on stream while its artist was part of the company, it would also have led to linkage between the artist, and who they were in Hololive. The artist ultimately graduated in July 2022, though it wouldn't be until May 2023 that Kiara finally streamed the game. However, all streams of the game have been done exclusively for those that were part of her membership, as she trusted said viewers to not just blurt out which talent was the artist's corpo persona as part of Hololive. Even then, she's had to repeatedly warn the viewers that there was no tolerance for any funny business in the chat while she was streaming the game.
    • For the latter half of 2021 and well into early 2022, Ayame's streaming had become very infrequent, often disappearing for weeks on end if not months (save for the occasional collabs and live concert appearances) and thus fueling a lot of misconceptions on her whereabouts when it really was a string of bad luck involving anxiety, slight burnout, imposter syndrome and personal issues. It's not until the end of May 2022 that she opened up about tending to the ailing health conditions of her mother and paternal grandmother during that time, and her prioritizing their health meant she couldn't stream as much as she wanted to. Rushia's termination also meant that much of her planned content got nixed, hence her apologizing for her reduced screentime in the Link Your Wish concert. She eventually came back to full time regime on September as she had finished grieving her grandmother's passing at the end of June and her mother's breast cancer had stabilized.
    • 2021 would have been the year that HoloID's Gen 1 and HoloEN's Myth made their 3D debuts, through announcements made by all of the former and by Kiara about the latter. Both debuts ended up being postponed because of Japan closing its borders in November that year due to the pandemic, and would only open them up again in mid-October 2022. In the intervening months, the entirety of HoloID Gen 1 managed to have their proper 3D showcases in mid-September 2022, while the only HoloMyth member who got to use her 3D model live in any fashion was Calliope, who first put it to full use for her birthday stream and concert on April 4, 2022, and even getting a new 3D outfit for her first solo concert, New Underworld Order, on July 21 the same year. Why "showcase" rather than debut? It would not be until Valentine's Day 2023 that Myth's 3D debut streams would finally be confirmed, with the streams taking place during the remainder of the month and the beginning of March.
    • A collab in Ultimate Chicken Horse involving Sana and other members of Council was initially scheduled for mid-October 2021, but had to be cancelled due to Sana going on a temporary hiatus around that time. It would be eventually re-scheduled, with the collab happening for real seven months later in mid-May 2022.
    • Shortly after IRyS debuted in July 2021, a project to give her model a complete redesign was approved and subsequently underway. This redesign would, unfortunately, lead to any potential alternate outfits, as well her 3D model and debut of such, to be majorly pushed back, as all these items would require that said redesign be completed and debuted as they required the 2.0 model as a base. For example, she was not part of the kimono outfit reveals that Myth and Council were receiving in January 2022, while HoloX would, despite debuting a few months after IRyS, get their 3D models first in May 2022, which led to accusations of favoritism towards JP members being levelled by fans at Cover Corp due to there being seemingly no logical reason as to why HoloX was jumping the 3D queue ahead of hernote  The fact that IRyS was being re-designed (and thus the cause of both the aforementioned delays as well as HoloX "jumping the queue") was not made public until a superchat reading a week following her 1st anniversary in mid-July the same year, with the redesign itself being unveiled in late November 2022. The outfit itself would later be given a reveal date of January 13, 2023note , while the first showing of her 3D model, albeit in idol form. would happen during the 4th fest concert in mid-March 2023, with her 3D debut occurring on August 20 the same year.
    • On July 24th 2022, both Altare and Dezmond informed viewers in their respective streams that night that their Pokemon card opening collab stream on the 26th would be postponed as a result of permissions issues. The collab would finally be green-lit and a date set for August 19th 2022.
    • On September 26, 2022, five days before Korone's birthday on October 1st, she broke the news that her birthday 3D live concert would be postponed, as she had been informed that the merch she had planned to release together with the concert would not be ready by the specified date. However, during a superchat reading on her birthday, she dropped even worse news for the Koronesukis: She had been informed that her merch ideas had actually been rejected, and when she asked if the concert could go ahead without the merch announcement, she was also told that whatever she had planned for the concert was rejected as well, which put her back on square one. A new date for the birthday concert would be announced on a stream on November 12, with the slated date being November 22.
    • In the middle of November 2022, Holostars Tempus were planning to continue their DND campaign and their PokĆ©mon Scarlet and Violet 4-way Soul Link collab until Cover issued a two-week suspension on Vesper for "internal misconduct", putting all potential collabs on hold. On December 8, 2022, Vesper came back and revealed that he got suspended for losing his temper which he apologized not only to his coworkers but also to his fans and promised that he would do better.
    • On his debut week, Bettel's first solo stream, where he plays Cooking Simulator, got hit by technical issues for two days in a row. So, he resorted to doing Twitter spaces instead. Fortunately, on the third day, it went well with no issues. Bettel admitted that the EN curse has nothing to do with it but it's user error, meaning he plugged his computer's internet connection into his Wi-Fi.
    • In the middle of January 2023, Axel planned to have a full-on Left 4 Dead 2 collab between Tempus HQ and Vanguard which would be the first full-on Holostars EN branch collab. But it was changed into Pummel Party instead because Vesper wasn't able to attend due to his social anxiety affecting him mentally along with not being able to bring his meds to Japan. Because of this, Vesper went into a self-imposed collab ban (with the exception of Ollie's APEX tourney since he already accepted the invitation prior to his trip to Japan) for the whole month of February to recover. By March, he slowly accepted collabs and continued to interview the Tempus Vanguard members. Then, the full-on Left 4 Dead 2 Tempus collab is rescheduled to March 24, 2023.
    • The first of two concerts for Hololive Summer Party on August 26, 2023, first had its start time pushed back by an hour (From its original 2000 JST to 2100 JST) due to viewers having issues accessing the waiting room for the concert on Z-an, which was the streaming platform selected. However, issues continued to mount (largely due to this event being the first time Cover is hosting on this platform) due to the large influx of viewers trying to get onto the server, such that another concert that was ongoing at the same time, one for PriPara, also started experiencing technical issues which escalated to the point that their concert was suspended. Likewise, due to the platform effectively being brought to its knees due to Demand Overload from viewers for two concerts, Cover made the decision to postpone the first concert to 1300 JST the next day, and not only that, it would be free to watch in its entirety on the hololive Youtube channel.
    • On January 4, 2024, Baelz revealed the results of the project she worked on with the 1 million yen that she had won during the Hololive Summer event 6 months prior: A full EN branch cover of Mind Craft, originally by Chang Gero Sonic, and scheduled for release on the 6th. However, the release was temporarily put on ice by behind-the-scenes issues, before a new release date was provided for two weeks later, on the 20th.
    • Calliope, Bijou, IRyS, and Ririka had scheduled an Armored Core 6 stream for 0200 EST on January 16, 2024, though the participants decided to postpone it around 5 hours prior to the original start time. As Calli would explain on her Palworld stream at 1900 EST on the 16th, this postponement was due to news that the public announcement of Mel's termination (with news of the termination itself having been circulated to all hololive branches a few hours prior, unlike what happened with Rushia's termination almost 2 years prior, where JP was the only one given advance notice, with EN and ID only finding out about it via the public announcement), was set to drop at the exact same time that the stream was scheduled to begin. The collab would eventually be rescheduled to 0100 EDT on March 11, 2024.
    • When the 3D debuts of the Tempus HQ duo were announced at the end of January 2024, Altare and Axel revealed that their 3D debuts were supposed to happen earlier, meaning around late 2023. However, due to unforeseen circumstances such as Magni and Vesper's graduation, it was delayed to February 2024 instead.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers:
    • Many hololive-related channels got temporarily demonetized between late 2019 and early 2020 for various reasons ranging from the expected (Choco's ASMR streams being too erotic for YouTube) to the puzzling ("reused content"). Hololive's appeals, including the higher-ups at the main channel, fell on deaf ears, and it took the intervention of a totally unrelated English third party * and some angry tweets to get affected channels back on track.
    • In late July 2020, Capcom copyright-striked Mio's Ghost Trick streams which led to her going on hiatus until early September 2020 to avoid the possibility of getting permanently banned from Youtube until the situation was sorted out and hololive mass privatizing their archives (along with inadvertently deleting a great deal of Subaru's archive) to protect their talents. Cover has since released a letter apologizing for copyright infringement and stating that videos will be made public again once they've been inspected. This entire kerfuffle was due to Cover Corp failing to get the company level permissions (as opposed to individual use) needed for hololive to stream games from Capcom and others. Something similar happened with Nintendo in early June 2020 ending with the same apology letter. Thus some fans are doubtful about it this time. They've secured the ability to stream Nintendo games as of August 1st, 2020 and Capcom games as of March 2021 however.
    • A (relatively) small number of clips involving Nintendo's games have also been disappearing on BiliBili, which led to some of the Chinese fandom speculating that Cover Corp's copyright agreements with Nintendo does not extend beyond Youtube.
    • Speaking of BiliBili, Suisei's original song "Pieces", is affiliated with the platform, and due to the Taiwan Incident, Suisei made zero mention of this song when talking about her other songs as well as her CD release in late September. She has however posted fan MVs of the song on YouTube, showing she still loved the song, but unable to talk about it.
    • On December 9 2020, Kiara and Marine's channel were both inexplicably banned from the platform due to issues with the Youtube algorithm. While Marine's channel was quickly restored, it took Kiara an appeal and 6 hours for her channel to come back to full functionality, although some things were missing such as her entire community tab.
    • Various Earthbound streams from Korone, Okayu, and Pekora were temporarily blocked by Sony of Japan for the game's music note .
    • Starting in May 2022, a France-based Discord group of trolls initiated a YouTube-wide wave of bots with sexually explicit profile pictures spamming obscene messages on a streamer's chat, usually targeting VTubers in a bid to trigger YouTube's algorithm and terminate them. Kobo Kanaeru was among the affected parties and her channel was mistakenly terminated on May 9 for "severe violations of YouTube's policy on nudity or sexual content", and was only able to restore it a day later; this prompted the talents to limit the people allowed to type in their chat to just their subscribers, most of the time with several days' worth of subscription to ward off the bots. The problem would arise again on May 14 when Kobo got terminated for the second time and for the exact same erroneous reason. Kobo's channel would get restored again on May 16, only for Iofi (and one HoloID translation channel) to temporarily get banned instead.
    • June 30, 2022, saw Iofi and Moona stream the mobile game Tower of Fantasy. This was rather significant as it was the first time since the Taiwan incident, which happened almost two years prior, where a Cover Corp. talent was streaming a Chinese-produced mobile game. Unfortunately, this moment was marred when both Iofi and Moona, in their streams, ventured into a clearly unfinished area of the game, resulting in both of them having to private and subsequently delete their respective streams' archives. Moona's statement confirming this can be found here. Neither of them, nor anyone else in HoloPro, have played the game since.
    • On December 2nd, 2022, Fauna was sponsored by Crunchyroll to play The Eminence in Shadow: Master of Garden, only for Kadokawa Corporation to block the stream on copyright grounds. It is likely that Kadokawa did not get the memo about Crunchyroll's sponsorship.
    • When asked if she'll ever use her 1.0 Model again, IRyS stated that it wouldn't be likely due to IP rights issues with it, though future models might have similarities to it.
  • Shrug of God:
    • A possible case. When looking up herself on Akinator, Amelia's response to the question "Is your character homosexual?" was "I don't know", although that could have just been her going along with how she assumed others would answer (since Akinator is basically a "20 questions" game that makes guesses based on how people have answered in the past).
    • Official HoloCouncil lore says that humanity broke off of Nature, then Civilization formed from them. When Fauna was asked if this technically makes Mumei her daughter, she hummed and hawed for a bit before deciding it's probably best not to question it.
  • Similarly Named Works: Within the company: Polka made a cover for a song called "Rebellion", which shares a title with -Advent-'s debut original. They're not the same song.
  • Throw It In!:
    • How Roberu Yukoku of holostars got his "winning son" Fan Nickname. When the phrase "are you winning, son?" started popping out on his chat during a Mario Kart 8 stream, Roberu thought the "winning son" part was referring to him, so he replied enthusiastically as "[everyone's] winning son". The name stuck to him ever since, to the point that him responding to the question is considered a quota to fulfil every stream.
    • Same with Miko and her ELITE nickname. 4chan kept calling her this in chat due to "being elite" (usually for not very elite things) being a meme on itself in the site at that point. She wasn't aware of this nor knew they were being sarcastic, so she rolled with it anyways, and the name stuck to her permanently.
    • During the debut of the English branch, Amelia was originally supposed to just be a normal human detective. However, in one of her earliest streams, she dropped an obscure reference to Mighty Beanz, a toy that ran a very popular ad campaign in the early 2000s, and her fans immediately started labeling her a boomer in the same vein as Marine. To counter this, she "revealed" that she was actually a time traveler (which is how she would know about the toy despite her youthful appearance) and it has since been incorporated as a part of her lore that she is something more akin to The Doctor as opposed to a normal human detective.
    • The Ebi-chan accessory for Gura's New Years' costume (a Super-Deformed shrimp Head Pet) was drawn by Gura herself as concept art for Gura's character designer to work off of. However, said character designer liked Gura's version so much that Gura's drawing was added to the costume as-is, rather than being professionally redrawn.
    • Axel admits that he missed out The Wheel of Tempus collab because he overslept, having went to bed a mere 3 hours prior after finishing an Apex collab stream with RPR, and Kronii volunteering to impersonate him was a last-minute change which explains the 20-minute delay. However, he is grateful to Kronii subbing in for him because it made the whole collab very entertaining.
  • Trolling Creator: Kiara's "papa" huke (her character artist) is a regular audience member of her streams. Despite being supportive, he never misses an opportunity to mess with her, either by making her say/do something stupid or calling her out on blatant lying. During HoloEN's second collaboration stream, the girls made an "alignment chart" mapping their intelligence and purity; huke said that Kiara should be at the very bottom of both axes, in other words dumb and perverted.
  • Troubled Production:
    • Debut streams are usually less-than-perfect in one way or another but Korone's was notoriously bad, causing the viewership to drop as the stream continued. Reasons included Korone's petrified shyness and repeated technical issues, ultimately requiring Fubuki and Okayu to join in and talk her through things to get the stream back on track.
    • In March 2020 Hololive opened auditions for a 2 week period for a pair of characters, a mysterious Snow Witch and a Gothic Lolita Fallen Angel. Nothing more was heard about them until November 2021 when Cover posted that they did not find any suitable candidates for the characters. As Holo JP Gen 5 were either already signed & preparing to debut or very shortly were to do so, the two characters were probably intended as part of a 2 or 3 person vsinger or gamers generation.
    • Nene received a new 2D outfit in January 2021 instead of the 3D debut the rest of Generation 5 did. It took an additional 3 months for her 3D model to be ready, and when it did, the debut stream was marked by significant graphical glitches, clipping problems & FPS drops. Despite this, the stream still managed to peak at over 90,000 viewers, and earned over $50,000 in Superchats.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • There are cases where the idols intend to stream on certain days and time to fit their schedule, only for circumstances forces them to cancel the intended streaming time, such as work fatigue note ; illness note , hospitalization note , technical issues note , or copyright strikes note . The performers will often apologize for not being able to stream for their fans, despite their understanding that their cancellation is beyond their control and wants their favorite idols to rest, or prioritize other things.
    • Mel Yozora mentioned during her appearance on Kiara's HoloTalk series that she was not originally part of Gen 1. She had a solo debut, much like Sora, Roboco, and Miko (and thus would've been part of what is now known as "Gen 0"). However, one of the initial Gen 1 members, Chris Hitomi, was given the boot a few weeks after her debut stream, which led to Mel taking her place as part of Gen 1.
    • Taiwan Incident-related:
      • In the leadup to the release of Genshin Impact, many HoloPro talents expressed interested in wanting to play the game on-stream. Two weeks prior to the game's official release, during HoloMyth's debut relay, Kiara Takanashi was noted during her debut as being very excited at the prospect of playing on-stream, and even had it on her schedule for the week of September 25-30, 2020. The Taiwan Incident occurring 12 days into her tenure (and 3 days before the game's official release) would effectively nix any prospect of her or any HoloPro talent being able to play this or any other miHoYo game on-stream, with the game's Chinese version even going as far as to ban any mention of Coco Kiryu in its in-game chat system within a few hours after the incident, while the Chinese version beta was in its final days, with this ban being carried over into the Chinese version's official release. Kiara would deliver the bad news to her viewers during a stream on the 27th.
      • Aqua Minato was originally invited to participate in the BiliBili broadcast of the Worlds 2020 Championship for League of Legends (Which took place from September 25 to October 30, 2020), and was also scheduled to perform a live concert, on stream, on October 25/26 after the end of that day's matches, with one of the songs she would be singing during that concert being her cover of the theme song for the championship event, Take Over. However, the Taiwan Incident occurred on the morning of September 25th, hours before the start of the event, leading to Aqua's invitation being rescinded by BiliBili and her spot being taken by another content creator. Aqua would later upload the PV for her cover on her BiliBili account on the night she was supposed to perform her concert, and a handful of her fans have since re-uploaded that PV onto Youtube.
    • During one of her Minecraft streams, Gura broke the fourth wall to explain how she had initially planned to give her character a distinct laughter style, like Pekora, note  but the only thing she could come up with "Sha-ha-hark", which she found so cringeworthy that she was embarassed to even bring it up.
    • There are two characters, a Hot Witch drawn by Kakage, and an Elegant Gothic Lolita drawn by Parsley, who were announced for audition during March 20 - 30, 2020, approximately 5 months prior to the debut of the 5th Generation. 17 months later, on November 2, 2021, the official twitter account for Hololive revealed that not a single applicant passed the audition phase for either character, and as a result, the project would be shelved indefinitely. Kakage and Parsley were given another shot at being VTuber parents for Hololive talents as just over three weeks after that announcement, Hololive's sixth generation, HoloX, was unveiled with two of the talents, Lui Takane and Chloe Sakamata, having those respective artists as their parent.
    • One of the first projects announced for Hololive Alternative was a Twitter manga centered around Marine made by doujin artist Mizuryu Kei. However, the artist broke ties with hololive shortly after the announcement for nebulous reasons, which caused the manga to be scrapped a month later.
    • As noted under Mid-Development Genre Shift, Cover Corporation was almost going to be a game development company, at least up until their first (and only) game, Ping Pong League, flopped. Fittingly, Tanigou himself was an ex-Sanrio game developer before founding Cover. The company would later return to its game development roots in 2021, making the Environmental Narrative Explorer Horror game hololive ERROR.
    • A HoloTalk interview with A-chan revealed that, contrary to popular belief, it was A-chan and Sora who approached Cover Corp. looking for employment first, rather than the other way around. A-chan stumbled across Cover Corp. while looking for a studio to rent for Sora to record and perform in, back when they were independent. Tanigou was interested with their work, so he took them on board. Kiara later points out that hololive quite possibly wouldn't exist without these turn of events.
    • Lampshaded by Amelia Watson. After her guest appearance on Kiryu Coco's Reddit Meme Review mere weeks before the latter's graduation on July 1st, 2021, Amelia talks about how, if given more time and collaborations, they would have made an incredible pair due to both being recognized for their zany and creative stream ideas.
    • Gura revealed on Coco's graduation stream that she wanted to play Ark for the first time with Coco. This would naturally will never come to pass but Coco made Gura promise to play Ark with everyone else.
    • Months before Coco's graduation announcement, upper management told her to keep the graduation a secret until it was actually time for her to go (a common practice with countless other VTubers before her). Coco found it ridiculous to withhold that info for that long, reasoning that the announcement would be even more shocking with a time frame that small. note
    • Kiara's first collab with VShojo was originally going to be with Veibae, but the latter ended up backing out due to backlash as a result of the re-surfacing this clip of her making disparaging statements towards HoloMyth and HoloPro in general. Nyatasha Nyanners was invited in as a replacement.
    • During her one year anniversary stream, Gura broke the fourth wall to clarify what happens when a new talent joins Cover: the designated artist creates a character design without input from the talent, after which the latter can make requests for minor changes, which may or may not get approved. As an example, Gura said that upon seeing her own character design for the first time, she made two requests: that her teeth be visible, and that she have an ahoge. As history shows, the former request was approved, while the latter was not until her New Year's kimono outfit.
    • Amelia reveals in her one year anniversary stream, that she originally planned for her debut to open with a lore video. Said video would have shown her investigating a crime during a stormy night. Her investigation would have led her to a scary statue that would send her forward in time, explaining how she ended up in hololive. However, she didn't have enough time to complete it so she instead came up with the admission ticket intro.
    • In the same Anniversary stream, Ame revealed that the Smol Calli cutout in Myth's 1 year anniversary stream was originally meant to be used in place of the Smol Calli avatar if Calli couldn't properly participate (either due to Calli's VR equipment not arriving on time or technical issues). Luckily, Calli was able to join in and so the cutout was left in as a prop.
    • According to Gura, her iconic background music was originally commissioned as Amelia's. Ame let her have it because the finished product ended up being not quite her thing.
    • After the reveal of her third outfit, Gura mentioned that the dress was originally going to be more princess-like, but Gura convinced her illustrator, Nachoneko, to have her outfit be more Ancient Greek inspired to match with her Atlantean lore.
    • Concepts of IRyS's design included multiple dress and hairstyle ideas and her hair color originally dark purple instead of garnet.
    • IRyS had initially scheduled a stream of her playing Assetto Corsa some time during the week of December 6 to the 12 of 2021, but it ended up being nixed in favor of Big Brain Academy. While this was initially assumed to be issues getting OBS to play nice with the game's actual game executablenote , citing the various technical difficulties that Gura had when she streamed the game 5 months prior, IRyS revealed at the start of her second installment of her members'-only Initial D: Fourth Stage watch-along that week that, contrary to initial assumptions, she had been unable to secure streaming permissions for the game in time, and as of the end of 2023 has yet to stream the game.
    • Gura shared that she almost worked in children's television, having already signed the paperwork, and only didn't because the program was axed for budgetary reasons. If that program actually got greenlit, Gawr Gura as we know her might have never been.
    • The sudden announcement of Rushia's termination on Feb 24, 2022 had ripple effects on previously planned collabs and live events.
      • Any future collaborations with Rushia have been axed. For one, her collaboration with Suisei where the latter won their Super Smash Bros. Ultimate matches would've had her play a horror game with Suisei and Haachama joining her. This sadly won't come to pass.
      • Various sets that Rushia would've performed in during the second day of the 3rd fest, Link Your Wish, had to be axed, and due to the termination happening less than a month before the Expo, there was no time to sub in new content. The sets known to be axed was Rushia's solo, and then a duet and an MC set between her and Ayame (leaving the latter as the only participant without a group song), which the latter implicitly addressed in a series of tweets after the end of the second day's concert, and was confirmed by Kiara during her members-only watch-along of the 2nd day's archive hours afterward at around 1600 EDT (ie Around 9+ hours after the concert ended). An axed Rushia and Ayame MC set would of course explain why this day's EN and ID set was introduced with no fanfare, unlike the first day where Luna and Noel had an MC set preceding that day's EN and ID set to introduce them. All in all, the cuts resulted in the removal of approx. 30 minutes of content.
    • And speaking of the Expo, the staff involved with the banner where it included ID and Holostars was supposed to get rid of Rushia from the banner. Due to a mix up, not all the banners had Rushia removed, and there were even some banners where they accidently got rid of Luna. Members such as Towa did not find this acceptable.
    • On August 2nd, Axel became the bearer of bad news to his viewers when, after having hyped them up for a potential stream of a Super Robot Wars game (permissions pending, of course) on a chatting stream the day before, he informed them in a tweet that streaming permissions for the series were outright denied.note
    • During her debut, Kronii showed a demo for what would eventually be her first original song, "Daydream". However, she sang at a notably higher key in the demo than in the final product. Kronii would later reveal in her debut reaction anniversary stream that the higher key from the demo was the original key of "Daydream", but had to be adjusted as Kronii had trouble hitting the higher notes. Also, due to issues with mixing the demo, she tried to make her own mix in time for her debut. It was sadly rejected.
    • Amelia was originally supposed to be May Tantei, a Punny Name playing off of meitantei, meaning "great detective".
    • Kronii's last name was originally Gandr, derived from Jƶrmungandr before it was changed to Ouro, which was derived from Ouroboros.
    • During the Tempus Twitch Takeover weekend, Vesper was supposed to play X Com Enemy Unknown for his 24-hour endurance stream. Unfortunately, Cover was unable to get the permissions on time, so Vesper decided to play Factorio instead.
    • According to Axel, Bae was supposed to be on the cover for "Bad End Night" as the butler but couldn't participate due to time restrictions, leading to Reine taking her place. He also mentioned that Magni wasn't able to be on the cover because he was in the middle of his 8-hour Subnautica stream when Axel sent the open invitation on Discord.
    • Selen Tatsuki and Mumei once thought that they'd be joining under the same VTuber company, and didn't realize until much later that they respectively signed into different companies, making it awkward to say anything to each other until the collabs between the two English branches eased up in late 2022.
    • According to Magni, his Christmas cover was supposed to be a group cover song with the rest of the boys. But during the time of the recording, Vesper was still on his two-week suspension and the other boys are sick. Instead of canceling it, Magni ended up singing the songs alone with his own theme and only in two takes.
    • According to Altare, TEMPUS's first wave was originally a six-man group, with Bettel and Flayon intending to debut with the other four. However, it was later decided to reduce the unit to four members, while the other two were told to help scout two more to form a separate unit. This resulted in Tempus Vanguard, with Bettel and Flayon's "scouting" being written into the group's lore as them going to Xenokuni to find new guildmates.
    • Haato and Lamy were both set to compete in the 2023 Hololive New Year Mario Kart Cup in January 2023, but both informed Towa the day prior that they were bowing out due to health issues, leading to Fubuki being moved from Group A to Group B to balance out the skill level within B. On the day of the event, Moona Hoshinova was unable to connect to Nintendo Online and also decided to bow out.
    • Machina X Flayon's monetization stream shed some light on some oddities on the 10th episode of Tempus HQ's RAFT collab that took place in October 2022: Who was the manager making "monkey noises" in the voice chat in the middle of the stream, and why this segment was later edited out of the stream's VOD. The answer? That "manager" was actually Flayon entering the Discord voice channel the rest of the boys were in and making "monkey noises".note  Flayon's existence was kept a secret due to Magni's quick thinking, in which he simply framed Flayon as a "manager" and warned the "manager" that they had wandered into a voice chat for a livestream, leading to Flayon quickly making his exit. Magni's actions, according to Axel and Flayon, effectively saved Flayon from getting terminated before the reveal of Tempus Vanguard, which would've either led to the character being re-cast, have a whole new character created to replace him, or have Flayon written out entirely. Amusingly, the whole "manager-san making monkey noises" led to the creation of Axel's manager being called "Gori-mane".
    • Axel and Vesper were supposed to meet for their first off-collab during Tempus' half-anniversary where they were supposed to do a two vs two cook-off between them and Altare and Magni, who are also doing an off-collab. However, Vesper wasn't able to meet with him due to his social anxiety compounded by not bringing his meds to Japan (because he wasn't sure if he was allowed to bring them) and other health issues. In the end, Axel was instead accompanied by his two managers during the half-anniversary cook-off.
    • Since his debut, Altare planned to have a podcast with the boys entitled the MANA podcast and had already prepared the assets, logo, and topics for it. However, for the past 6 months, the podcast has been into many delays. Back in December 2022, Altare promised that the podcast would be out by the end of February 2023. But on the last day of January 2023, Altare sadly confirmed the MANA podcast had been shelved. Though, he plans to restart the project from scratch. During his June 13, 2023 Minecraft stream, he renames his podcast as "National Tempus Radio" or NTR and he'll be the only host with guests from either Tempus or other vtubers.
    • Magni and Vesper both had packed schedules for the week of July 3 to 8, 2023. However, the Hololive English official twitter account announced on the 6th that Magni and Vesper had been given stop-stream orders. When TEMPUS HQ's debut anniversary rolled around, an announcement was made that, since half the wave was still on hiatus, the anniversary would be postponed, which also gave viewers hope that Magni and Vesper would return to streaming soon. These hopes would be dashed a month later on August 24, with the announcement of their graduation from Holostars, though Cover would announce 3 days later that the anniversary would push through on the first full week of September (5-11) with both the remaining members of HQ as well as the entirety of Vanguard participating.
    • During Miyabi's 4th anniversary, it was announced that Holostars would have a cover song with all the Japanese and English members participating. However, it was delayed due to Magni and Vesper's graduation and because of this, they had to remove them and re-edit the cover. Eventually, the cover, which is a rendition of "Connecting" by halyosy, would be released on November 30, 2023, with 19 members excluding Armis who have just debuted.
    • During Calli's 3rd-anniversary stream, Ayunda Risu called in and admitted that "end of a life" was her go-to song whenever she would feel demotivated. This particular song was one that Calli almost left on the cutting room floor, which brings to question how different Risu's creative output or even her career could have been had Calli gone ahead and not released the song.
    • The 2024 Edition of the New Year's Mario Kart Cup would once again have changes to the event roster after the initial bracket seeding. Lamy announced that she was bowing out (for the second year in a row) due to health issues, while Nerissa discovered a week after the seeding that the event would conflict with her planned vacation to the Maldives with Kiara (She and Kiara would leave for their vacation destination just before the preliminary rounds on the first day of the event) and also backed out. After the initial brackets were re-seeded (Dropping from 4 groups to 3 for the prelims), Chloe bowed out due to contracting COVID, though she was replaced by Raden shortly after. It also featured the first in-event roster change, with Mumei, having been sent to the losers' bracket from her results during the group stage, dropping out due to a thumb injury being aggravated during the event, leading to Ririka getting sent to the losers' bracket instead, as while she placed above Mumei in the group stage results, she was the loser in a 3-way tie between herself and two other participants.
    • Mel's termination in mid-January 2024 would have repercussions for the then-upcoming 5th HoloFes. Unlike what happened when Rushia was fired, there was still enough time between the firing and Fes that meaningful changes could be made, meaning that no one, save for Haachama whose appearance was a complete surprise until Stage 2, was left without a collab set. For example, the HoloFes performance of Fansa during the HoneyWorks stage was able to undergo changes to both its lyrics split as well as dance choreography between its 4 remaining members as the time remaining was enough that a re-recording was possible.
    • During his post-3D debut talk, Axel revealed that "Black Cherry" by Acid Black Cherry wasn't planned to be his opening song but rather another different song, which was changed at the last minute due to issues behind the scenes, which Axel elaborated that it was not due to permissions, but rather ethicsnote . However, he regarded that change as a blessing in disguise because "Black Cherry" is one of the songs he sang during his karaoke monetization stream and his fans loved his performance. During a membership stream a few weeks later at the end of March, he'd reveal in response to a superchat asking about this that his original song choice was "Royal Flash" by Royal Scandal, effectively confirming the specifics of the ethics issues that forced the last minute song change.
    • Shortly after the 5th HoloFes and Axel announcing the reveal of his second outfit (set for March 21, 2024), Altare would reveal on his post-Expo talk on the 19th that he would not have an outfit of his own to reveal. While he had one in the works, he was not satisfied with as well as not proud of what would have been the final product, leading him to ultimately scrap the project entirely.
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: Despite the idols often being very interactive and trying their best to entertain their viewers, they deal with their fair share of harassers and trolls. The former of which has become a more serious problem due to the following reasons:
    • Towa was forced to apologize and take a week-long break from streaming in March 2020 after being harassed due to male voices being heard on her APEX stream and her claiming in a panic that they were hololive staff.
    • Aloe making the decision to leave hololive altogether in August 2020 right at the end of her two-week suspension for accidentally doxxing herself (and the resulting real-life harassment from the harassers) due to being too physically and emotionally exhausted to continue.
    • Since early July 2020, AsaCoco has been on hiatus due to the various real issues that hololive has been going through at the time, which has been exacerbated by negative fan reactions, that Coco thought it would be too insensitive to mock. Coco has stated that she wishes to bring the series back when her comments won't be seen as too malicious or close to home. She later brought back the series mid-September 2020, only to then have to shelve it for a few weeks after September 25th's episode got wrapped up in what is now known as the "Taiwan Incident". Coco would resume the series again when she came back from her three weeks' suspension following the incident.
    • During a stream near the end of September 2020, Haato got a three week suspension due to mentioning Taiwan Explanation in her stream when looking over her Youtube Analytics. Mind you, not saying anything really positive or negative about it, but merely acknowledged it, causing her to receive backlash from Chinese nationalists, leading to her being given a three week suspension. The same has happened to Coco, when she reviewed viewership statistics on an episode of Asacoco Live the following morning.
      • Increasing tension and inflammatory remarks from viewers across multiple hololivers' streams has led to some of the other girls temporarily hiding chat in their stream footage and/or not reading Superchats to avoid exacerbating the incident. Cover Corp. eventually reverted their chat policy, but ended up having to rely on chat moderators and community-driven comment reporting after finding out that Chinese nationalists are still harrassing everyone, even in Coco's membership-only streams (usually bots employing poorly Google-translated foreign language comments, including in English).
      • Despite both Haato and Coco resuming normal streaming activities after issuing an apology for the trouble they had caused, the animosity towards Cover Corp continued until the brand is considered anathema in China. At the end of October 2020, the Hololive CN branch officially started closure procedures, with its former talent leaving hololive to continue careers as independent performers.
      • This extends to the talents who use a bilibili account. Because of the incident, their talents no longer use their bilibili accounts to interact with their fans from China. Meaning certain talents like Suisei won't be able to attend any more BML * concerts.
      • While most of the heat has died down in regards to this incident on Haato's side, Coco is still having problems with invasive chat messages. She's the first talent to extensively implement Night Bot as a result and whenever she plays games of Among Us she has to restrict it to members only in order to cut down on the possibility having bad actors join her game, and even then some are willing to pay for Membership just to get in and harass her.
      • This also bled over into other parts of the company as well, including other talents and Production. In December 2020, a promotional stream for Asus equipment hosted by Fubuki was cancelled after threat of action by the Asus ROG (the Chinese division of Asus) community manager, and anytime Coco does a Collab stream with someone else, they get hit with trolls and bots that try to harass the person for being in contact with her (an example being one time where Flare and Coco played Minecraft together).
      • The said conflict with the country is allegedly pointed out as the reason why the talents were no longer streaming any games made by Chinese developers and/or published by BiliBili or YoStar, due to either Cover disallowing it, being refused streaming permissions by either the devs or publisher, and/or having existing streaming permissions revoked. For example, various members of the JP side had previously played Azur Lane and Arknights on stream (Both games' JP versions are handled by YoStar), and according to this clip of various members' live playthrough of the song Brain Power on Muse Dash, 7 different members, including Moona Hoshinova from ID and Gawr Gura from EN, had played the game on stream prior to the incident. It was Haato's streaming of this game in early November 2020 that led to the game's publisher at the time, X.D. Network, to officially announce the revocation of streaming permissions for hololive talents, which led to the VOD for Haato's stream, as well as the archive VODs for all the other members' streams of this game, being private. The English Branch could stream Blue Archive because unlike in Japan (which has YoStar as a publisher), Nexon publishes it in the west.
    • huke had to leave the EN Minecraft server at the end of October 2020 due to several unspecified fan complaints about his presence there. The outcry is especially perplexing considering his renown as an artist before hololive, his continued popularity within the fanbase, and how just the day before, the EN manager joining the girls for Left 4 Dead was met with enough fan acclaim that Ina would later make an official design for them. Ten months later, Kiara would invite another guest, her real life mother, to the Minecraft server to much praise and without issue, further calling into question where the original complaints were coming from.
    • HoloEN's gaming streams are subject to a lot more visible backseat gaming, which threatens to dissuade them from continuing to play. Amelia has voiced displeasure with it on a couple of occasions, particularly with her The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt streams. Her Witcher 3 playthrough is on hiatus partially due to this, and only time will tell if she will resume playing. Amelia and Ina in particular are subject to a lot of it to the point where they are among the only members across the entire organization to have changed their rules specifically to tell people to stop it as well as make use of the comment pinning system: While Ina herself doesn't say anything with it, Ao-chan does, and Ame writes her own.
    • On the morning of March 29 2021, while Miko was getting Tokimeki Memorial 2 to install on Marine's PS3, Marine briefly stepped away to grab something from Miko's fridge, and discovered, to her amusement, a doujin inside, which Miko had left there for Marine to find as a joke. Though Miko mentioned the doujin was one of her favorites, and the humor came from the act of finding a doujin in the fridge, at least one party clipped the moment so that the doujin itself seemed to be the butt of the joke. The clip was then fed by antis to the doujin's author, who unfortunately took the bait, and their angered reaction in turn was taken and blown out of proportion. Though the author at some point seems to have realized that there had been a misunderstanding, it was too late to stop a flame war from erupting on Twitter and engulfing all three of them as people pointed fingers when there shouldn't have been any reason to. As such, the stream was privated while Miko and Marine went on break for a week. When they returned, they had a video explaining what happened and asked their fans to not harass the author and to leave the incident behind them.
    • In July 2021, Calliope mentioned that Cover was no longer accepting gifts for the talents. Fans assumed it was due to the massive quantity of gifts they were receiving. However, Pekora revealed that the staff has been finding Apple AirTags in some of them. Realizing how dangerous those were, they had to stop the gifts.
    • Certain collaboration duos have slowed down due to fans putting too much shipping pressure (Miko and Pekora) or accusations of leeching (Pekora and Moona).
    • Due to mounting toxicity and infighting among her fanbase, Korone decided to take a break from the internet near the end of May 2022 in order to clear off negative thoughts.
    • In late March of 2022, Ollie made a congratulatory tweet towards her "brother" in Nijisanji's English branch, Fulgur Ovid, in celebration of his birthday (Fulgur and Ollie, as well as Vox Akuma, were all drawn by the same artist, LAM). Unfortunately, a fan of HoloCouncil decided to slide into the thread with a screenshot of a Discord conversation in which not only was Fulgur saying some not-so-nice things about Council, it also showed Vox making light of various technical issues that the HoloEN members keep having to deal with.note , leaving not only to Ollie having to delete the tweet to reduce said screenshot's exposure, but also seemingly scaring her off from any sort of public interaction with her brothers afterward, as she made no congratulatory tweet towards Fulgur on his birthday in March 2023.
    • April 2023 sees Calli unveil a sheriff outfit. However, while she wanted to have a steed to pose with, she's forced to acknowledge the "horse fiasco"note  and instead settled with posing with a Clipart rendition of the classic Mini Cooper, after politely calling them out.
    • At the end of September 2023, around the same time that memberships closed for Magni Dezmond and Vesper Noir, due to them having graduated a month prior, the comments section on every single one of both ex-talents' stream archives, videos, and shorts were turned off, due to the prevalence of comments making references to their pre-holostar personas, with some going as far as to directly name their respective indie personas.
    • Astel has admitted to trying to walk back his "special-grade curse" persona at times due to it causing problems with shippers (particularly in the case of Niu Yozuna, not helped by well-meaning comments saying they wouldn't mind if Astel/Niu turned out to be Real After All) and (unfounded) accusations of him hurting the streamers he uses it with.
  • Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: After the HAACHAMAƗAkaihaato story arc concluded(?) in the "#COEXIST" stream, Haato broke the fourth wall to provide some behind-the-scenes commentary. One of the things she explained was that rather than plan the story out ahead, most of it was made up as she went along (which is what allowed her to incorporate fan material as much as she did, including, in one case, fan art that was uploaded less than an hour before her stream was scheduled to begin), since Haato feels that she works the best when under pressure.
