(Note that since comedy is the main draw of the series, this page could be considered full of Spoilers. You Have Been Warned.)

code 4 / His Classmate is a Spear Wielder

  • The entire "exorcism battle" between Mitama and Soma is hilariously uneventful: first they start by both attacking everywhere but on the targets, Mitama because of his usual fear and Soya striking at random hoping to get a spirit because of his inability to see them. Then the battle turns into a Weapon Twirling competition while spouting shameful memories about their opponent. Finally, one spirit takes pity of this embarrassing display and "attacks" the duo by riding on their twirling weapons like a windmill. Finally, they all stop at once in an album cover pose, the spirit even ending up holding Soya's spear.
Soya: Not bad, Mitama. We must have exorcised, oh, 14 or 15 spirits.
  • The rap love song Soya wrote for their mutual crush Miki's birthday was so terrible and embarrassing that Soya repressed it while Mitama wasn't ever able to forget.
I love you and your outspoken personality.
My heart was locked but you had the key.
The equation for fun is you plus me.

code 5 / Haunted By Love

  • The way all the spirits are neatly stacked up in the door frame behind Rena Haze is pretty cute.
  • As usual, Mitama's overreaction to the spirit is very funny, especially considering how cute and friendly the one hugging him was.
  • When Rena Haze asks Mitama if Yuko's feeling are too emotionally heavy for him to handle, he replies that they rather are "physically heavy", the panel then showing that she is once again clinging on to his back.
  • Yuko's confession was a tad too creepy, causing Mitama to have one of the biggest Screw This, I'm Outta Here reactions ever, jumping through the restaurant's window then from roof to roof ten feet into the air. He is next seen nervously "smoking" a bubble blower to calm down.
  • Yuko is Spurned into Suicide. That wouldn't normally be funny if her method wasn't jumping head first into a praying monk to exorcize herself, being barely held back by all the other spirits.
  • After properly rejecting Yuko, the other spirits started cheering her up before eventually ganged up in him for making her cry and haunted him all night with Disapproving Looks.

code 6 / Tempting Tapioca

code 7 / Great Detective Kojime

  • The whole Kid Detective parody in this chapter is really great. From the absurd reaching to the obvious deductions, the ridiculous pretentiousness of Kojime Edoichi solely based on his Heroic Lineage is a sight to behold. On top of that, nobody buys his detective act. They will at best not understand what he tried to accomplish, at worst think he is a creep. He is a really cathartic Butt-Monkey.
(Kojime is confidently tailing Mitama and Rena Haze)
Kid: Mom! Is that guy a stalker?
Mother: Don't stare at the degenerate, dear.
  • The whole reason why Kojime is obsessed with Rena Haze: he thought that she once waved at him in middle school when she was merely pushing a spirit out of her way and didn't even notice him wave back at her.
  • The smug faces of "Talent Scout Mitama" in Kojime's mind are just so incredibly out of character for him.

code 8 / Grow, Terror, Grow!

code 9 / To the Exorcism Site

  • This entire chapter is basically one Overly Long Gag of Soya taking Joh on a date under the cover of an "exorcism" with both being very Tsundere and overall Vitriolic Best Buds.
Mitama: Let me tell you something! I'll use this [bubble bath packet you gave me] for sure! You hear me?! I'm not bluffing! Got it?!
Mitama: You'd better, imbecile!! Wouldn't you to catch a cold, scumbag!

    Volume 2

code 10 / Janca

code 11 / His Master Wears Stripes

  • At this point, the spirits feel so unthreatened by Mitama that they directly go ask for one of his Holy Ligh Spirit Blasts to play dodgeball with. Even Mr. Stripe later note that his attack has always been too bouncy to really exorcize spirits anyway.

code 12 / Roots

  • The spirits used to mess with young Joh in pretty harmless way (like dancing the boogie-woogie) to which he was nonetheless terrified. Special mention to their spot-on Sadako impression with 8 spirits miming the TV.
  • The Wax On, Wax Off training Mitama goes through progressively derails to the point that the final exam is a basketball match coming right off a sport manga, down to the Down to the Last Play setup and the numerous spirits cheering for him in the audience.
Mr. Stripe: You pass. You are now a fine basketball man.
  • The two chapter long Bait-and-Switch with Mr. Stripe. He didn't came here to finish the job himself, just to slightly scold Mitama on the fact that he played dodgeball instead of basketball.

code 13 / Love and Reijection

  • The way Yuko keeps switching between an adorable dork in Troubled Fetal Position and a terrifying Green-Eyed Monster everytime Joh is nice towards Rena Haze.
  • Yuko and Rena Haze goes shopping together like normal girl friends, but everyone is looking at them -or rather Rena Haze talking to herself- thinking that she is crazy.
  • Mitama manages to stay actually cool for the entire chapter (to Yuko's flustered chagrin) but suddenly snaps right after the end of the date because he knew the truth all along but didn't want to disappoint the girls.

code 14 / A Day in the Life Of Rena Haze, Explained!

  • Zobiro is giving insightful love advices to Yuko.
Yuko: Do you think I should be more aggressive wih Mitama dearest?
    Zobiro: Zobiro.
Yuko: Yeah you're probably right. [...] But... but I just get so nervous...
    Zobiro: Zo...biro...
    Yuko: I-I know that! Geez!
  • Rena Haze and her spirits watch a weird Show Within a Show called Body Temperature King where all the characters seemingly have a great fever. It is apparently so emotional that she and all her spirits cry watching it. (Yes, even Zobiro. Don't Ask.)
  • Normal people can't understand what the spirits say and seemingly hear their voices as some sort of terrifying Black Speech, which is especially funny when they freak out because of the sweet Mr. Commentary's advices.

code 15 / The Return of Kojime

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/buffjime.png
"My name is Kojime Edoichi. I'm twelve years old!"
  • Kojime became ridiculously muscled and tall since the last chapter, even by shōnen manga standards. Even funnier is the fact that he keeps referring to his newfound muscles as his "deductive powers".
  • Zobiro pulls out a handkerchief out of his feet cluster to Mitama's understandable shock who then begins to freak out about Zobiro's Bizarre Human Biology. Kojime, clueless, observes the scene from afar:
Kojime: Sounds like he's body shaming [Rena Haze] about her feet!
  • A possessed Kojime pokes the fat Mr. Commentary and younglings Ta & Pi who then undergo an overly dramatic Growing Muscles Sequence before doing a non less campy Pec Flex. When trying to do the same to Zobiro and Mitama, it turns out that they were already fit all along and they proceed to kick Kojime's ass with a Double-Team BREIn Buster.

code 16 / The Nursing Championship

code 17 / The Lost Little Boy

code 18 / Play Ball

  • The chapter starts with a Previously on… narrated by Yuko who not only tells it with a deep Valley Girl accent but also swears that her Mitama dearest vowed to protect her specifically.
  • Another Cliffhanger + Bait-and-Switch situation in this chapter. Did you expect a huge shōnen battle between Mitama and BODY? Well, it's actually a Baseball Episode. Even Joh is confused by all this.
  • Soya shines once again by his lack of spirit sense. When Mitama notices that they are one player short, Soya asks "Don't you mean six?" since 5 of the team's players are spirits.
  • Turns out the late baseball superstar Babe Ruth was in the spirit line the whole time! Except not really, he's a total faker with a Kansai accent.
  • Zobiro throws a fastball so powerful that it almost kills Mitama who is sent flying against the whole. But instead of his usual Comical Overreacting, he instead underreacts to the whole thing. Worst part is everyone is still against his moderate complains and prefer to congratualte Zobiro on his performance.

code 19 / White-Hot Baseball

    Volume 3

code 20 / BODY's Big Catch

  • Babe Ruth is getting captured by BODY while saying "What the heck?" with a completely nonplussed expression on his face. ...Okay, it's not that funny, but it was an Unexpectedly Dark Chapter so there's not much to work with here.

code 21 / The Tearful Greit Play

  • Rena Haze and Zobiro hit Mitama's condensed attack so hard that it ends up in a dramatic Hit Stop, so dramatic in fact that they are stuck in place for several pages.
  • Joh is seemingly blown to smithereens by his own attack with a cute firework and a Sky Face appears as if he Died Happily Ever After. In any other context or series it would be really sad, but it all happens so abruptly that you can't help but nervously smile. It helps that he is shown being fine right after that.
  • Back the robot Suddenly Speaks instead of his usual "bleep bloop" and delivers a powerful speech to Mitama about trusting his instinct and that BODY will leave them alone. Rena Haze and Joh are too surprised by the fact that he can talk to even process it.

code 22 / Revenge, Jan K'now

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/salmoned.png
I present to you Salmon the Summoned.
  • As Janca is about to face against his rival Rena Haze after a lengthy Inner Monologue to settle it once and for all, he stumbles upon Zobiro playing with the twins by rotating his extended feet like a windmill.
Janca: Uh, that's some funky playground equipment, jan k'now?
  • Janca is about to use his trump card: a powerful and super-REIre Demon Ghost... And it's a humanoid fish with a pair of overalls.
    • It was not a DEmon, it was a SALmon! Janca desperatly tries to save face by spouting some salmon facts about how durable and strong they are in nature. Except that he is an Actual Pacifist.
    • ...Or rather a "pacifisht" as he puts it, because to top all of that he is a Pungeon Master and sneaks many sealife puns in his dialogue.
Salmon: What the shell is wrong with you [...] you piece of carp!
    • Janca accidentally touches the Salmon's eyes and he goes berserk and begins to beat his own summoner to a pulp.
  • Quack Doctor, his band-aids, and his stupid face come back for a couple of panel.
  • Janco goes full Mon parody by spouting some nonsensical deep lore about Rena Haze being a "SpiREImon Master".
  • After such a humiliating defeat, Janca is about to launch his Desperation Attack: beg for Rena Haze to take him as her disciple. She is so confused by this that she simply hops on Zobiro and jumps far away from him.
  • Rena Haze receives a surprise delivery: it's the Salmon in a box clearly too small for him. And he wears a tuxedo now.
  • The chapter ends with Mitama, Soya, and Janca out-"jan k'now"-ing each other while Rena Haze is seriously considering moving out from all this madness.

code 23 / The Day

  • After an unexpectedly intense chapter that really looked like a Wham Episode, this suddenly turns into a Valentine's Day Episode, all the spirits' animosity being explained by them trying to prevent Joh from seeing Rena Haze's chocolates.
  • Rena Haze gave Mitama two chocolates. Maenwhile, Yuko offered him a ginormous pièce montée!

code 24 / Building the Salmon Empire

code 25 / Let's Go to the Public Bath

  • Joh goes to relax in a Public Bathhouse far from any spirits but unexpectedly finds Zobiro chilling here.
    Mitama: A footbath?!
  • Joh and Mr. Commentary share a nice moment talking about how much he has grown over the past few months. Except it wasn't Mr. Commentary this whole time, it was another fat spirit with comically large nostrils mistaken for Mr. Commentary's eyes.
Mitama: Whatever! It's your first appearance!
  • Joh finally goes towards the bath where Mr. Commentary is. As he approaches the steam dissipates... and reveals dozens of spirits filling the bath. Rinse and repeat when he tries to relax elsewhere and opens the sauna's door.
  • The spirits are so unimpressed with Mitama having a fit that they even use his Swiss-Army Tears to rinse out their shampoo.

code 26 / Rena Haze's Heart-Pounding Job Interview

  • Soya makes fun of Rena Haze for being a good for nothing klutz. He wasn't prepared for the answer.
Rena Haze: Whatever. You can't even see spirits.
  • Mitama's ridiculous "job interviewer" persona purely based on what he imagines they look like is borderline creepy, and not that far off from what Kojime thinks he is. Meanwhile, Soya screams at her the second the roleplay begins.
  • The guys are somehow convinced that she is applying for a Maid Cafe (despite her telling them off multiple times) and call her cutesy stage names like "Raspberry" or "Macaron", to the point that she snaps and plays along:
Rena Haze: Sure thing! ☆ I'm from Pom Planet! Just call me Pom-Pom Peach! My type is a person who owns property! Welcome home, landlord! ☆ (everyone looks at her in shock) ...I told ya, jan k'now?
  • After multiple "great" advices from the boys, Rena Haze is finally ready. Now she is a Magical Girl from Planet Rena-Hazen wearing a French Maid Outfit and an Eyepatch of Power, and uses her spirits to magically float to the interview where she sings a song about working in a convenience store (all of that of course before a terrorized interviewer).
I wanna work in these aisles
    To see lot of smiles!
I say I wanna contribute to society, and the interviewer's swayed
But to be honest, deep down all I want is to get paid!
  • The chapter ends with the interviewer bribing her 60,000 yen for her to never ever come back in his shop, and everyone coming up to the realization that part-time jobs are "trickier than they thought" after all.

code 27 / Joh's Crisis

  • This chapter starts with a badass presentation of Mitama by himself and immediatly follows next page with Joh on all four playing horsey for the twins to ride.
  • Mitama's bothered face when surrounded by spirits is surprisingly soft and Super-Deformed compared to usual which makes it even more comical.
  • The Failure Montage where he gets beaten by everyone, including a bunch of spirits piling up on him during a sumo match and Yuko beating him at foot racing by jumping head first into the finish line.
  • As Mitama is expecting another humilation from the spirits, they instead do some Synchronized Swarming to write "もありがとうミタマ" ("Thanks for everything, Mitama!") which was unexpected and cute. Even minor spirits like Babe Ruth, Quack Doctor, and Satake show up.

code 28 / Dark Past

code 29 / The Kojime Who Comes Twice Will Come Thrice

  • Kojime is back, and now he's a lion. No, we don't know why either.
  • The chapter is filled with numerous The Lion King jokes and references, from bits of song to iconic poses. In fact, the entire chapter is giant setup to an Incredibly Lame Pun that is almost impossible to translate properly.note
  • Shakejiro is as sleazy as ever, going back and forth between pacifism to revengeful rage then finally Professional Buttkisser the second he is outmatched.
  • Realistic Shakejiro reappears ("Ingest my omega-3 fatty acids! ♫") and also introduces an awkward mid-form transformation when he is drying which shows him anthro but round and naked without his overalls. A bonus picture on the author's Twitter shows that they just magically appear when he's dry enough.
Janca: What's happening?! Are you evolving, jan k'now?!

    Volume 4

code 30 / Rena Haze's Heart-Pounding Job

  • Probably not an intentional Shout-Out, but some might find funny that the bowlcut Jerkass introduced in this chapter is named Chara.
  • Chara is an extreme serial cheater: he's a six-timer, one for every day of the week (including Rena Haze that he is trying to court). It's made even funnier by the fact that his Casanova Wannabe act his so ridiculous that it is hard to imagine how he even managed to seduce the other six in the first place.
  • All the spirits are politely waiting for Rena Haze outside the restaurant which is simultanousy very creepy and very cute.
  • "Sorry Cyclone! Vwoosh, vwoosh, vwoooosh!!"

code 31 / All Stars!

  • This chapter was the results of an Official Fan-Submitted Content contest, each winner more nonsensical and punny than the last:
    • REIttuce the haunting head of cabbage who goes more grudgeful each times it grows a new layer.
    • Ghost-man and Shy Pro WREIstler who immediately start a wrestler rivalry. And suddenly a REIferee appears out of the blue to police the match.
    • Literal humans try to enter the line, the funniest part being that they don't even really try to hide the fact that they are alive, like the Spirit-like Supicious Character, the Matchmaker Couple Who Loves Setting People Up, and Human.
      Human: I think...I probably died...?
    • A literal haunted bowling REIne (walking on two pins) with a Dullahan using his own head as a bowling bowl.
    • Spirit for the Ethical TREItment of Living Things. Mitama then goes on a tengent about the spirit being Tsunayoshi Tokugawa, a shōgun famous for outlawing animal cruelty in Japan in 1685... Except he's not, he's actually just an Animal Lover called "Mr. Living Things".
Mitama: ...But you aren't living things, you're spirits.
    • Mr. Living Things starts introducing some cute animals he takes care of. There's Mii the Cute Kitten, Tama the Sweet Sealnote , and finally Opportunity the titanic and terrifyingly confusing Mix-and-Match Creature.
    • As an aside, it's amusing to note that none of the winners were submitted by the same people, but Hatomune managed to make them work with each other flawlessly.
  • Shakejiro takes the role of Mr. Commentary as this chapter's Mr. Exposition, viewing himself as a veteran specialist and going on long analysis for each spirit. He's obviously only in to recruit powerful spirits for his Salmon Empire, and ends up unceremoniously stomped by Opportunity.

code 32 / Making No Concessions

  • The chapter starts with a petty argument between Soya and Rena Haze over which type of pop-corn is better, and everytime you think it's over it goes on, and on, and on...
  • Everytime Mitama tries to de-escalate the situation it goes From Bad to Worse because of their stubbornness to the point that they even begin to assault Mitama for not taking it seriously enough.
Soya: (punches Mitama in the face) We're talking about popcorn right now, you fool!! [...] Popcorn refugees who aren't aligned with the caramel nation or the salt nation should keep their opinions for themselves.
  • Joh tries to warm their heart with the kind of corny faces and dialogue that you see in bad PSAs, but it only makes him Very Punchable even when they are apologizing.
  • Mitama finally rushed in tears to the movie theater just in time carrying the two belligerents under his arms, the movie is about to begin... and there's Opportunity (and the rest of the contest spirits) sitting before them and obfuscating the entire screen. Mitama snaps and gets himself alone banned from the cinema.

code 33 / Investigation! The Karaoke Club of Fear

  • The manager's Dull Eyes of Unhappiness are so scary that Mitama thought that he was the contract's spirit.
    Mitama: It's the REIceptionist!
  • Mitama uses Rena Haze to do a "Super Sentai" Stance imitating the initial セ of SecuREIty. Nobody is impressed.
Rena Haze: Touch me again and I'm out of here.
    Mitama: Understood.
  • The cute and tiny Yuko stands up to the mic to impress her Mi-dearest... and shouts a screeching croak so terrible that glass shatters and everything flies across the room.
  • Zobiro sings a Patter Song. It's more beautiful that you can imagine.
    Zobiro: Zobiro.
  • Most of the rest of the chapter is Mitama singing an Ear Worm ("POIZON!♪") so catchy that it is literally viral and spread by touch like a Zombie Apocalypse. By the end every main character is doing the stupid dance with an equally stupid grin on their face.
Rena Haze: I feel like I suffered psychological damage, the full extent of which I can't understand.

code 34 / Let the Games Begin! The Mom Championship

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mitamom.png
And for my next act, I'll make this teenager's loneliness disappear!
  • Rumi Haze always assumed that Mitama was a schoolmate of Rena. The extremely detailed mental image of this imaginary friend is rather cute.
  • Rumi turns into a petty Jealous Parent because of Mitama's caring attitude towards her daughter. It doesn't help that he is relentless and have a hard time reading the room.
Mitama: Ack! You're absolutely right! I crossed a line, excuse me. I'll leave right away. Rena Haze, one more thing: I sewed you a dust cloth, take it to school tomorrow.
  • Rumi decides to defend her sullied honor in a Mom Championship. Rena et Joh are confused, but the spirits are pretty hyped.
    • The first trial seems in the bag for Rumi, but then Mitama arrives with a healty dinner and an insightful parent-child conversation.
    • The second trial, the "Lullaby Smackdown", is especially hilarious: as Rena is starting to fall asleep because of Rumi's song, Mitama suddenly becomes very upset because she didn't take a bath nor did her homeworks before going to bed. As she falls asleep on the table, a sighing Mitama pulls a cover out of nowhere and put it on Rena in a natural yet dramatic way.
Rumi Haze: How in the world did he come to possess so much Mom Power?! [...] Has he been a mom before?
    • As Joh pulls the same move on a dumbfounded Rumi, she begins to question if Mitama isn't the "Mother of all Moms". She however quickly comes to her "senses":
Rumi Haze: Why are you momming me too?! I'm the mom here! You're out of your mind if you think you're mom enough to mom me!

code 35 / Janca's Jam

  • The chapter starts with a dozen spirits (including Yuko) hugging a distraught Mitama, causing him to genuinely ask if they are actually haunting him instead of Rena Haze.
  • When a terrified Shakejiro is spotted by Onigawara, he tries to save his skin by offering him a place in his upcoming Salmon Empire. Cue the defenestration.
    • He later comes back with Mitama with some savoury words ("That's the piece of carp...!") then reappears in The Stinger thinking of himself as the true hero of the story ("We all know which big fish really saved the day...").
  • Mitama's Badass Boast about "only losing to spirit" is simultaneously awesome and hilariously pathetic coming from an exorcist, especially him who can knock out yakuza bosses cold and survive explosions but can't handle a bunch of cute ghosts hugging him.

code 36 / Sudden Hide-and-Seek

  • "I'm an exorcist by trade! I'd never buddy up to spirits. It's simply not possible." says Mitama with a straight face while playing badminton with Zobiro.
  • Zobiro hides next to a jungle gym by folding his face-feet into right angles. It's not very convincing, to say the least.
  • After playing hide-and-seek dead seriously to prove his exorcism skills, Joh suddenly tags Zobiro "it" with a radiant and out-of-character childish energy.

code 37 / Where's Joh

  • Mr. Stripe continues his tradition of being in inappropriate vehicules, this time leaving in a horse-drawn carriage. And it's never addressed after that.
  • After hearing that Rena Haze is truly missing Joh Mitama, maybe even a little too much, Yuko has mixed feelings about it and sports a hilarious and inelegant face perfectly conveying her conflicting thoughts.

code 38 / Climb! SecuREItower

code 39 / History's Most Notorious Evil-Spirit User, Popoki

  • After revealing that Mitama went missing for days to go through an intense Training from Hell in order to master a secret technique, Mr. Stripe shows some footage of him playfully playing basketball with polar bears and belugas to an unconvinced Rena.
Mr. Stripe: Oh, no. This is no basketball game. Of course, an amateur like you wouldn't understand.

    Unpublished chapters

code 40 / Encounter

  • After nearly all of Rena Haze's spirits were took over by Popoki, Rena starts to dramatically call out her hypnotized friends until Soya interrupts her because there are just way too many of them.
  • The Four Divine Eye-Pattern Lieutenants draw their weapons to fight the spirits back, except Dot who use the fragile Commander as a sword.
  • After deeply missing Joh for several chapters, Rena is flustered to finally see him back... except that he is now sporting one of the most ridiculous outfits ever which completely kills the mood.
    • The outfit of question consists of Joh being half-naked with only a tie and several Holy Ligh Spirit Balls on his body making him almost look like some sort of freaky Bomberman. Funniest part is that outside of Rena Haze and Soya, everybody - including himself - is playing it off like if he was super cool (though mostly because he was an Instant Expert).
    • How to master this ultimate technique you ask? You have to be a Dork Knight. You dorkier you are, the stronger it is (which in hindsight explains why Mitama was an Instant Expert).
    • Not only does he look dopey, but the attacks are ridiculous as well, ringing his head-ball like a bell between his hand-balls or plunging like a frog on the enemy just to punch them.
    • The final nail in the coffin: Mitama calls this Super Mode the "Holy Light Spirit Man" which is the last straw for Rena Haze's teenage feelings.

code 41 / Holy Light Spirit Man

  • After an arc that many readers interpreted as The Climax of the series, Popoki was actually defeated off-screen and it turned back to slice of life shenanigans as if nothing happened. Well, almost nothing as Mitama now casually walks around in Holy Light Spirit Man form.
(One entire page of awkward silence)
  • The whole chapter puts an uncomfortable focus on how Rena Haze is deeply disturbed by Mitama's balls.
Rena Haze: Does he really need that many balls on his body?
Rena Haze: [...] I bet once I actually talk to him, his balls won't even cross my mind.
  • After creepily staring at Rena Haze from behind a tree (which is somewhat reminiscent of Hatumone's previous series Naked Swan) Mitama menacingly approaches her, only to give her a packet of rice seasoning that slowly comes out of his hand-ball like a dispenser.
  • While playing soccer with some kids, Mitama shoots them jumps himself into the goal, confusing the goalkeeper on which one was the true ball. The goalie then proceeds to congratulate the soccer ball on its excellent play.
  • After Rena Haze apologizes for her behaviour, Mitama become literally big-headed and starts flying away mid-sentence like a hot air balloon. He only comes back the next day after being saved by a Balloon-Bursting Bird.

code 42 / Holy Light Spirit Man, Explained!

code 43 / Pull Through! The Parent-Teacher Conference

  • Mitama congratulates on getting the school she wanted after working hard for it.
  • Rena Haze slips several time and almost call Holy Ligh Spirit Man "Doraemon".
  • After Mitama pledges to support Rena during the upcoming parent-teacher conference, he is immediately followed by Janca and Shakejiro, then by Soya, then by the Four Divine Eye-Pattern Lieutenants themselves, then by even BODY! It would be a really touching Everyone Join the Party moment if it wasn't, you know, a parent-teacher conference. Of course, Rena's mother freaks out when seeing Mitama and 16 stangers in the classroom and kick them out all at once as they make a shocked face that looks straight out of Doraemon.

code 44 / Lonely, Lonely Sunshine

  • Soya is trying to imagine how the spirits look like and mistakes Shakejiro for a human fisherman. It's even funnier after he hears that he becomes "realistic" in the rain, something he has a hard time picturing. Then he hears that he has one of the twins in his mouth, and in his minds it almost looks like Attack on Titan.
  • We see Janca and Rena Haze flying away riding their spirits, and from Soya's persective it's just plain weird.
  • After a very touching birthday present that brings tears to Soya's eyes, Rena Haze completely kills the mood by teasing Soya with an empty plate contening "a roasted turkey".
  • His birthday was the following day.

code 45 / Enjoy! Spirit Photography

  • Rena is distraught because all the photos she takes of herself for her job resume turn into Spooky Photographs. Except that in this case it's not actually spooky at all, it's just that her spirits are acting like Selfie Fiends and are photobombing the pictures. They can even instanously put Instagram filters on them!
  • As Mitama's advices become more and more elaborate, Rena ends up creating an entire YouTube video where she makes a fool of herself doing Incredibly Lame Puns and dancing around with her spirits. Not only did it not work at all, but her embarassing video went viral.
Mitama: All right, now take this video to your potential work place and-
    Rena Haze: NOT GONNA HAPPEN!
  • On a more meta level, it was funny to see Rena Haze sporting a classic hitaikakushi like the heroine of then recently concluded Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs. Some people joked that Rena canceled and exorcised Yuuna off-screen and stole her powers.

code 46 / Ta and Pi, Runaways

  • A very upset Rena Haze goes to Mitama for help. He comes out in a hurry wearing nothing but a giant Holy Light Spirit ball around his body, causing Rena to slams the door on his face in shock. And it's never adressed beyond that.
  • Shakejiro refers to Ta and Pi as "little guppies" which is rather cute.
  • The chapter's bonus picture shows Zobiro, Yuko, and Mr. Commentary still looking for Ta and Pi. In Egypt.
