resolved Spoiler warning best practise? Live Action TV
Hi all,
Given that some characters’ entries for Shōgun (2024) are very heavily blanked out with spoiler tags, does it make more sense to simply add a bold spoiler warning at the top of the page? Is that a free action when pages are looking a bit Swiss cheese-ish? (I asked in the page's Discussion thread a couple of weeks ago, but no one has replied).
Edited by lexiiresolved Edit war report Live Action TV
In Kamen Rider.
On 20th Feb '17 5:55:07 AM, Ryulong remove fan-speak term from description with edit reason "don't use that it's stupid as shit".
On 21st Feb '17 5:40:54 AM, Wolf Thunder add it back and claim that Ryulong edit is rude.
Personally, I agree with Ryulong that the term doesn't make sense (I think Western fanbase of Kamen Rider is too small to worth noting their lingo). And while their edit reason is bad, it's direct at the term itself, not editor.
Too bad, checking history, this isn't the first time Ryulong remove it. So it is Edit War.
resolved Potential edit war Live Action TV
Troper Metal Max 1991 has been constantly re-adding Alternate Self to MCU: Benjamin Poindexter that connects it to the 2003 Daredevil movie even though those films haven’t ever crossed over or been connected so they’re not canon. Are they commiting an edit war?
Edited by MaxyGregoryyyyresolved Breaking Bad "Full Measure" Trivia page? Live Action TV
Someone made a Trivia page for the Breaking Bad episode "Full Measure". It solely comprises of this:
- Other shows with episodes premiering on June 13th include The Amazing World of Gumball (Episode 10 in 2011), Fraggle Rock (Episode 23 in 1983), Futari wa Pretty Cure (Episode 20 in 2004), Teen Titans Go! (Episode 53 in 2014), Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure (Episode 16 in 2021).
That is not trivia. Cut the page?
resolved Cattlemen vs. Shepherds: Fantastic Racism? Live Action TV
There's an episode in the 4th season of the western tv show Rawhide that involves Gil Favor and his drovers coming across a traveling shepherd named Ted Stone, and it revolves heavily around the very real enmity between cattle-workers and sheep-workers of the period. Whilst based on profession rather than ethnicity, the "coding" is very obviously racist. Aside from the insults freely slung between the professions, we have things like the shepherd being refused service at a saloon for his profession, the bartender both refusing to tell the shepherd where to find a doctor and attacking series regular Rowdy Yates for trying to insist on service - which triggers a bar brawl and has Rowdy thrown in jail by the town sherriff to keep him from being lynched, the shepherd warning Rowdy to not ask for a jury trial in cattle country despite being treated unfairly, the shepherd having to see the town vet because the town doctor won't treat him, the town vet noting that no hotel in town will rent them a room, and the shepherd ultimately reveals he narrowly escaped what was basically a lynch mob of 30 cattle drovers who beat a fellow shepherd to death.
Anyway, my point is, does this count as Fantastic Racism? It clearly evokes racist hostility, but is aimed at profession rather than ethnicity... but, on the other hand, this was a real phenomena in the time period that the show is based upon, so it's not "fantastic" in the sense of "never was a thing in real life"...
resolved The Last of Us Edit War Live Action TV
scorpio44 and I got into one over whether The Last of Us (2023) casting Pedro Pascal and Gabriel Luna as Joel and Tommy constitutes a Race Lift of the characters, or the actors putting on a Fake Nationality. Even after I asked in multiple places for proof of the former, they put the questionable information back instead of heeding my comment.
Edited by dsneybufresolved Pedro Pascal Star-Making Role Live Action TV
The Star-Making Role entry on Creator.Pedro Pascal currently lists three performances; does it look excessive?
- Star-Making Role: Oberyn Martell widely exposed Pascal's talents to the public. The one-two punch of The Mandalorian and The Last of Us later proved that he could headline a successful show, with The Last of Us in particular helping him earn a spot in TIME Magazine's 100 most influential people of 2023.
resolved work title question Live Action TV
I know we normally prefer to use the English title, but I've got a bit of a conundrum with this one. There's a German Detective Drama originally titled SOKO Potsdam that was syndicated on PBS via Walter Presents as Luna + Sophie, but we only got the first three seasons because both title characters Luna and Sophie left the series after the third season.
So, should I still use the English title, or go with the German title since the series is ongoing?
Edited by StarSwordresolved Page splitting procedure - Alex Rider (2020) Live Action TV
Hello,
Ahead of Season 3 premiering on April 3, I have been planning to split off the Alex Rider live-action series from the pages relating to the books, given that it has distinct characters and continuity, and the ill-fated 2006 movie adaptation has its own page too.
However, I just wanted to double-check the procedure for performing this hard split (if indeed it is appropriate to do this), and what to do with the original Series/AlexRider page, given the large number of inbound links — should it become a redirect? I think only the Series/, YMMV/, Awesome/ and Funny/ pages need to be moved to a new Alex Rider (2020) namespace, and wicks changed to reflect this?
I've asked in the splitting merged works thread but received no response.
Thanks, Azorius 24
Edited by Azorius24resolved Page deleted as "created by ban evader" Live Action TV
The page The Office USS 7 E 21 Michaels Last Dundies was deleted for the reason as stated in the title, but it's otherwise a perfectly valid page to have, and it is presently the only episode of The Office (US) not recapped (webisodes aside).
Is it OK to recreate?
resolved Non-Trope Trivia section on Trivia page Live Action TV
I noticed that the trivia page for Deadliest Warrior has a section for non-trope trivia, which is not a section I've seen on any other trivia page. Should this be cut?
resolved American Horror Story: 1984 Fridge page "blanked" Live Action TV
I just noticed that the Fridge page for American Horror Story: 1984 was erased by Lukito 2014 and the text replaced with "I "deleted" the fridge section so you don't have to read the s&!ty theory that I've written. -Lukito 2014". I assume this should be either removed or reverted?
Edited by cannen144resolved I need help with this forum. Live Action TV
So this op thinks this TV show should be in a film forum. I mean this one. I tried to speak with the op but no reply and I double post so that other people decide whether this forum should stay or not. So what to do with it?
Edited by Bubblepigresolved What is the difference between an Alternate Company Equivalent and a Expy? Live Action TV
I tried asking this before and i got no responses, i hope it is ok to try again. But i tried to ask about about editing a profile from Kamen Rider Build, as i noticed some similarities between the big bad and Dio from Jojo. But i think in general i want to ask, what is considered an Alternate Company Equivalent? If it is on purpose, is it just an expy? How much intent one needs to apply to make a character/faction/other the ACE trope? Please i want some clarification.
resolved Mandalorian Memes Live Action TV
Some of these Memes. The Mandalorian entries have two bullet points each in the page source, yet display with single indentation. What messed up the coding?
- Mando doing sidequests.Explanation Jokes about Din being Railroaded into doing "sidequests" (or favors) in order to get the information he needs have been made.
- Mando making new friends every episode (or at least in Season 2).Explanation The show's frequent use of guest-of-the-week, especially notable in Season 2, where most of the episodes have Mando becoming Fire-Forged Friends with at least one new character.
- "I can help you, but first I need something from you."Explanation Season 2 can essentially be summed as a constant Fetch Quest, as Mando is constantly doing favors for other characters in exchange for something, only to then meet someone else who wants a favor from him in exchange for another thing, and so on. Most egregious when he finally did find a Jedi, Ahsoka, only for her to turn him away and point him to Tython instead.
- Din Cry Laughing after being told to go to another planet.Explanation The summer after Pedro Pascal finished filming The Mandalorian Season 2, he landed two roles in the Zoom-based "play" I, My Ruination, which starred Paul Giamatti as A Streetcar Named Desire director Elia Kazan; one scene has Streetcar writer Tennessee Williams (Pascal) experience an alcohol-induced mood swing, prompting a concerned Elia to exclaim, "Hey!" multiple times, before asking, "What's going on?" After "The Jedi", some Star Wars fans posted the clip with captions referring to it as Din's thoughts after learning he'd have to travel somewhere else to finish his mission.
- The Mandalorian on Omegle by Tiktoker cosplayer tokenasianfriend.
- "Okay, just... just give me one second. I'll be right back."Explanation ”The Mandalorian" meeting a stranger who doesn't like Star Wars or The Mandalorian, prompting Mando to awkwardly excuse himself before somehow appearing in the stranger's house to beat him up.
- "Okay Mando, show me your cock or the kid dies!" "Aw, fu—" Chapter 14: The TragedyExplanation A Boba cosplayer (or more accurately, someone wearing a Boba mask) having a Nerf gun put up to a doll of the Child, demanding to the Mandalorian on the other line to show his... penis or else he'll kill the kid. Going with the common joke about not wanting to be Mistaken for Gay, it's joked that Mando being forced to show his wang to another guy is just as tragic if he showed his face to a living being.
- "You're the guy from Fortnite!"Explanation One of the Omegle people in the same video joking that he recognizes the Mandalorian as a Fortnite character due to him having recently become a sponsored character in the game at the time of the video.
resolved Actor Referenced By... Live Action TV
Can actors have their own Referenced by... pages? TIL that Nicole Kidman has one.
resolved Andor vs. Kenobi Live Action TV
From YMMV.Andor:
- Fandom Rivalry: Has developed one with fans of The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Andor fans criticized the other shows for being too merchandise-driven and dependent on continuity references, while fans of those shows criticized Andor as dull and depressingly pretentious.
AFAIK, the number of Star Wars fans who prefer Kenobi to Andor seems pretty small, and includes some people who either didn't finish or didn't start the latter. Could I remove the references to it? (I previously removed a mention of The Book of Boba Fett under similar reasoning; because no one considers it the best Star Wars TV show)
resolved A goof in the Mr. Robot page Live Action TV
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Series/MrRobot
There is a goof in the Disposingof A Body section:
Someone wrote that Mr. Robot and Elliot found Tyrell's dead body after he was shot and burned it with the white Dark Army van. That never happened. Tyrell walked away after he was shot and the last we see of him was looking at the blue light. The body that they burnt with the van was of the dead DA soldier who killed himself. We don't know till this day what happened to Tyrell.
Hi, I need help with a combative editor named kyeo for the Arrow YMMV page. They've been deleting entries that are critical of the character of Felicity Smoak, even though the entire point of the YMMV page is to add widely-held audience reactions, of which the character has many of.
Edit History as noted by eagle108:
Afte readding the entry with less offensive and critical language, I asked kyeo to stop outright deleting entries just because they felt they were too negative towards Felicity in PM. They sent me an extremely offensive and rude response.
I've blocked them after this and didn't bother responding. Should I do anything else?
Note: Edited in response to replies added to this entry.
