resolved Report Troper Pt. 2
Basically, a previous ATT got really long, so it was suggested that someone re-consolidate the information into a new report. So here I am, and I would like to report Mr-ex777 for concerns with their edits. I'll include citations from the previous thread.
Trigger warning: The first bullet points repeatedly refer to rape and link to edits that discuss it in a fairly detailed manner. If you'd like to read anyway, skip to the second first-level bullet point.
- They really seem insistent on inserting rape into their edits for no real reason. This first was noticed when he inserted hypothetical "brutal rape" into a recent discussion so many times that multiple people were begging him to stop, but it happens in edits too.
- It particularly happened on the page for SoYouWantTo.Write A Complete Monster (more on that later). Among other examples, Ex edited the page to add references to rape, often with no provocation, here, here (an entire paragraph this time, continuing to repeat the "brutally raped" verbiage), here, here, here, and here. I know we're dealing with the Complete Monster trope and rape comes up there a lot, but this is a genuinely distressing amount of focus on that particular crime on that page.
- On NightmareFuel.Criminal Minds, he tweaked his own entry just to add more references of rape and torture to it. He added an entire paragraph about a rapist from the show and his actions here as well - ditto this (which he felt the need to add more detail to here), and this (which was later tweaked to add in more rape to an already rape-filled entry here). In a vacuum, it's nothing considering the show, but considering how much he fixated on it in discussion and how the rapists (and the occasional other CM) are the only entries he seems to edit, it's really noticeable.
- EDIT: I'm just gonna put this one on a separate bullet, but here he is again altering one of his previous entries to repeatedly reference rape, even though it already referred to it.
- Ex serial tweaks constantly. He once edited the SYWT page at least 23 times in a single day, usually only changing a single word, but I'm not the only one who noticed he seems to do it to every page he edits. Edit history for reference.
- This was a one-off among everything else, but he randomly added the entire country of Cambodia to Overshadowed by Controversy. This ended up causing confusion when Siegfried 1337 tried to ask if it should be allowed and it instead came off like he had added it to the page.
- He keeps adding examples to Sandbox.Former Complete Monsters before the discussion has anywhere near concluded, requiring him to go back in and fix it if the discussion changes course. The most notable times of this rushed editing were Kor Phaeron (where he added the entry before the cut was actually finalized, created a "Tabletop" folder for it without moving the other tabletop examples to it, added with natter about how vile he is and with grammar mishaps that had to be tweaked several times, and then later added more natter to alongside a typo) and Cinder Fall (again, the discussion had literally just started - the cleanup thread hadn't even reached a new page yet, much less reached a consensus - but he also didn't italicize the show title, add a colon after the show's title, or give more than a barebones cut reason).
- He did the same thing to the SYWT page - within an hour of Cinder being brought up for cut, he adjusted the page to list fanfic versions of her as Adaptational Villainy (which is not at all accurate in the first place - just because she's not a CM anymore doesn't mean that adaptations where she is have to make her more villainous).
- Update: He recently edited an entry seemingly just to reference how vile the character is despite that being unrelated to his cutting.
- Additionally, when he added Echidna's examples to Former Complete Monsters, he felt the need to add in a dig about how Echidna had a few examples not make it through the voting process. May not be related to anything else but it feels like a needlessly mean spirited jab for no real reason.
- Last but not least, he's basically turned the entirety of SoYouWantTo.Write A Complete Monster into a natter and cruft-filled dumpster fire. It's filled with walls of text, "examples" that either rely on Fan Myopia or are so detailed that they derail the entire page and, when you look in the history, countless tweaks of single words or small phrases, often one after the other in a short period of time (as previously mentioned, at least one of them was 23 times in 24 hours). Another user checked and, out of the 64 pages of edit history, Ex had 40 of them, with the furthest of his edits only being August of 2022note I got bored and did some math - that's only 527 days ago, and at 15 edits per page and 40 pages total, that's slightly over an edit a day, but mostly consolidated over the past few months. Make of any of that what you will. The previous ATT thread has basically moved on to that page being the primary concern because reversion isn't really possible (no matter the reversion point, "clean" edits would get hit in the crossfire) but the page is such a mess that no one knows where to start.
Since the previous ATT got really long and slightly derailed, I wanted to bring the focus back to the original problem. Basically, Ex has several editing red flags and issues, and I think several people would like to see if there's a way to address them.
Edited by STARCRUSHER99resolved A Concerning Trend
I'm not sure where else to discuss this so here goes. Tropers.vidkid has a habit of deleting "negative" tropes and wording about My Hero Academia's League of Villains, usually through downplaying their crimes or claiming that the "negative" trope is Alternative Character Interpretation, without any discussion. In other words: Draco in Leather Pants.
Link to vidkid's edits. (Every single one of their edits has been for My Hero Academia's pages since August. Not a reason for concern but just something I noticed.)
On August 30th 2020 vidkid deleted a bunch of "negative" entries from My Hero Academia - Tomura Shigaraki with the edit reason that they were supposedly "Alternative Character Interpretation". The Alternative Character Interpretation they used was incorrect (it ignored canon facts and was thus removed by Rebel Falcon at a later date).
On October 18th vidkid deleted part of Blue-and-Orange Morality from Toga's entry on the Characters. My Hero Academia League Of Villains (which said Toga was lying and mentioned her anger that someone considered her a victim) and completely deleted Hypocrite's entry (another "negative" trope).
Today, vidkid deleted a line from NightmareFuel. My Hero Academia about the implication that Toga killed an old woman to take her blood in order to trick Uraraka. For context, Uraraka says "You mean you stole that woman's blood, killed her, just to ask me a question like that?" in response so it's not Fridge Horror.
These are only a few of the concerning edits I noticed. Some are minor, and there is nothing wrong with liking the villains of a show, but I feel it's reached the point of DILP-ing, especially with the deleting of "negative" tropes on the characters' pages. I hesitate to call this an "agenda" but something is certainly going on.
I think the deleted entries should possibly be re-added. What else should be done?
Edited by EmeraldSkyresolved Start of an Edit War/Possible Sockpuppet? Western Animation
Hello! So I recently posted this in the "Is this an Example?" thread, and haven't really got replies, though they have been leaning to my side.
I found something that screams shoehorning from a biased source.
From the YMMV page of The Owl House:
- Broken Aesop: The Series Finale has two major ones;
- Earlier in the series, the show railed against the concept of a Chosen One, and said that people should carve out their own paths. Just before the climax however, it's revealed that the remnants of the dead Titan has been actively helping Luz in learning Magic and has picked her to be the one to stand up against Belos. Guess what? That makes her a fucking CHOSEN ONE!!!
- After Belos is defeated and no longer a threat, he starts begging for Luz to save him from death, saying that is she doesn't, she'll be just as "evil" as the witches, and "We're Human, we're better than this!", only for Eda and friends to push Luz aside, smugly say to Belos "Well we ain't!" and then gleefully stomp him to death and laugh, proving that despite everything the show preached, in his final moments, they proved that everything Belos said had some merit of truth to it.
Two huge problems with this. First, it's very clearly overly hostile and biased against the show judging by it's language, and attempting to whitewash Belos by suggesting he has a point. Secondly, both examples are taken completely out of context to form a rhetorical strawman. The first one isn't an example because she wasn't born with any special destiny. She only got the Titan's approval due to being her kind and loving self, especially to his son. The second is just plainly absurd. It's attempting to play moral judgement on some of the people who have suffered the most under the genocidal psychopath, when he had just made his second attempt to commit genocide against their species.
I took the liberty of removing the example from the YMMV page. Now that would be fine on it's own, even if I heavily disagree with it... If it weren't for this entry literally being a copy paste of something that was posted on the main page of the show which the troper Gamermaster removed. The weird part is that it was copy pasted onto the YMMV page by an entirely different user, and the first user has a total of two edits on their entire edit history, both of which are super hostile to modern Disney properties. Later on the person who posted it on the main Owl House page posted it right back on the YMMV page exactly as is without going to the "Is this an Example?" thread, and added further shoehorning. I removed those too... but now I am wondering if this is some sort of sockpuppeting situation due to the reasons listed above. At the very least it could warp into an Edit War.
resolved AbsoluteRainbow
I know that Absolute Rainbow is already forum suspended, but I have concerns with their handling of the Evil Is Sexy cleanup as well. While I appreciate anyone who wants to join in on TRS cleanup, they're doing it in a really sloppy way. I just had a long back and forth over PM with them because they made the mistake of not moving a Sexy Villains, Chaste Heroes wick off of a YMMV page. They eventually decided to put it back as Evil Is Sexy and then hide it, after which I finally managed to convince them to just delete the thing... On one page, anyway, as on another they kept the hidden EvilIsSexy wick up. They seem to have a weird aversion with the idea of deleting these examples, which leads to other issues such as them replacing things with These Tropes Are Evil and Sexy (the index), hiding other examples, and generally misusing Sexy Villains, Chaste Heroes even when heroes aren't mentioned in the example... among other issues.
It seems like in general they have an issue with rushing into things and not fully understanding the rules. It's what caused their TLP ban a while ago, and I noticed them breaking the rules of The Pantheon Thread when I was there discussing wick cleanup last night. I know I could just send a notifier or something for some of the other sloppy edits, but it was hard enough just getting them to delete one single misused example and I find it difficult to get them to slow down and do these things correctly. I also allow mods to read the recent PM exchange, since I don't know how much else I can say, except that they also appear to be wonking about a specific subject a lot.
Edited by WarJay77resolved Troper just here to complain
Jungle Cub 2's primary focus appears to be complaining about Danny Phantom. All but a few of their edits are on pages for the show, and most are heavily bashy and subjective about certain characters and ships (these examples are just a handful from the first page of their edit history). They also left a long diatribe on a trope finder query. Oh, and their grammar seems spotty at best.
Their edits for other works seem negative as well, but they're very focused on Danny Phantom.
resolved Troper with an Agenda I stumbled across
Hello all,
While I was just browsing tropes, I found an edit made to Apocalypse Anarchy by https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tropers/SpacemanSpoof that is very slanted and against ROCEJ (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=Main.ApocalypseAnarchy&page=8)
Looking through their other edits, I found this on Values Resonance/Literature (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=ValuesResonance.Literature&troper_name=SpacemanSpoof&edit_content=).
Am I off base here, or is this clear agenda-based editing?
Edited by bunnyofdoomo1resolved Possible agenda-driven example Web Original
Troper darkpowrjd has added a few examples to the YMMV page for Jimquisition, and while two of them have already been removed for not being YMMV tropes (one of which was a The Friend Nobody Likes example with a whiff of drama importation about it), they also added this sub bullet for Seasonal Rot that has a similar, if not worse, air about it:
- Jim seemly made this worse by consistently bring that up as the ONLY reason behind the drop in subscribers and viewership, thereby attacking those that had left for reasons completely unrelated to the transition. These include a sudden shift into being what could be seen as more militant and complaining that people call their videos getting way too political note This meaning that Jim touches on sensitive issues and has such an absolutist viewpoint about them that people can feel uncomfortable in being allowed to discuss it at all with them.. Jim also has seen a way to interject jabs at "alt-right" people and those that seem to want to counter their videos seemly all the time, especially when the jabs are shrouded in overgeneralizing the group that had the opinion they disagreed with, and what the opinion the group actually held.
Perhaps this is just me reading too deep into things, but putting "alt-right" in incredulous quotation marks in this context and putting such a label in the same category as "the group that had the opinion they disagreed with" and "those that seem to want to counter their videos" are massive red flags as far as the position the edit was made from is concerned, especially since this double bullet comes immediately after the bullet that acknowledges that the bigotry against Sterling coming out as Non-Binary was a noticeable factor in the perceived Seasonal Rot. And all of this is assuming that the "consistently bringing that up as the ONLY reason" remark is even true.
Basically, I'm suspecting that a rather odious agenda was behind this edit, but I'd like to be sure it isn't just me before I cut it.
Edited by Akriloth2160resolved Here just to bash?
TCS Slave Leia seems to be here just to bash works and people? They called a bunch of Phineas and Ferb fans "manchildren" (after making an entire review of their own just to shit on it and the show's fans). There's also this weird comment on a SML review.
There's more. Their troper page? Just a diatribe against P+F. They called fans of the show hypocrites in a trivia example. They generally seem obsessed with shitting on the show and its fanbase.
resolved Edit War Alert!
Last Wednesday, Cooper Simpson, in a rather bizarre case of Critical Research Failure, put The Lorax (2012) onto the list of films from DreamWorks Animation without any edit reason provided despite it being a clear and simple fact that The Lorax was from Illumination Entertainment. VTHU 243 rightfully deleted this addition two days later for this exact reason and even mentioned as much in the edit reason. But then, two days ago, Cooper Simpson quite brazenly IGNORED this truthful edit in favor of ramrodding this blatantly false information right back in. Does this qualify as an edit war? Regardless, I have a feeling something needs to be done here.
P.S: Also, on June 28, Cooper Simpson also changed the description of the Lorax on its own page to say that it was the 3rd film ever by Dream Works Animation. Not only is the Lorax, as I previously mentioned, NOT by Dreamworks, but it also wouldn't have been the 3rd film by them even it it WERE (it would have been the 25th). This also needs to be fixed.
Edited by SimbafanA1resolved Complaining and rude troper
phylos added an entry filled with complaining to this page. They later removed it...with an edit reason that included the line "Even this entry is more than what this piece of shit movie deserves". It was observed in the cleanup thread where the example got brought up that phylos has been inserting misuse and complaining into YMMV pages lately. I sent them a notifier and got a response today, which wasn't very cooperative.
Edited by UFOYeahresolved Overkill swearing and misplaced Deleted Scene
On this page, one troper apparently got so mad at the episode that they called the title character "an ungrateful chickenshit little douchebag", as well as adding an R-rated fan creation straight out of DeviantArt and tried to pass it off as a Deleted Scene (which is Trivia, regardless).
Edited by UFOYeahresolved Questionable edits on one topic (somewhat NSFW)
Troper CostcoFoodFan made an edit on Putting the Pee in Pool that is kinda written weirdly (and I don't just mean the grammar stuff, which I fixed). Then I decided to go through their edit history and I saw that they made edit exclusively about pee or other bodily excrements. Here's one, another and here are all the dits they made on Potty Failure.
All of these really concern me and I want to bring this up.
resolved Literature/Victoria - A troper has been busily re-adding tropes cut during a cleanup Literature
Troper Axe 23 has been busy re-adding tropes to Literature/Victoria page that were removed in the cleanup thread without going through the cleanup thread first. What should be done about that?
I tried to message them, but they never replied.
Cleanup thread here: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=16063931900A23789400&page=8
Now, I know that normally it is the opposite rule here, if you see a trope on a page (say Knight in Shining Armor ) mentioning a work, you should go to the work page and add an example to it. That is normal crosswicking. The issue here is that there was a clean-up of the work page but wick cleaning of the other pages was never completed (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=16063931900A23789400&page=7#comment-161 ) after sandbox swap.
You can recognize the cleaned up wicks on the other pages because they point to Literature/Victoria instead of towards Victoria: A Novel of 4th Generation War and they should be deleted and not crosswicked back to the main work page.
Edited by youngstormlordresolved Troper appears to be making edits motivated by homophobia
Troper Calm Hill Of Treasures made several edits removing anything related to homosexuality and altered a Woolseyism entry to complain about the localization before deleting it without explanation.
resolved Fanfic Page made by Ban Evader
The page for Reacting to The Loud House was created by a ban evader and the vast majority of the edits were made with their different accounts. A few others have edited since, but since the original evader seems to have made most of the edits, which should be reverted on principle, it might be better to cut the page and then start over.
Just putting this as a heads up so that people familiar with the work can create a new page without such edits.
The subpages also need cleaning up.
Edited by costanton11resolved Confrontational/rude troper
There's a troper who seems to be rather rude and confrontational in their edit reasons. I found this out when I saw this edit from the "Recent Edit Reasons" list, and immediately sent a rudeness notifiernote Because having an Oh, No... Not Again! reaction to having to keep correcting a reoccurring mistake is one thing, but leaving a reply that almost sounds like a threat (over something that small) is beyond the pale. Unsure of whether this was a one-time thing or not, I took a look at the troper's edit history, and there were several other confrontational-sounding edit reasons.
Now, normally I'd wait for a reply to the notifier (or at least see if they make any more edits first). But seeing this edit reason (which was for an edit they made only yesterday), where they practically asked to be banned is what compelled me to make this ATT report.
Edited by UFOYeahresolved Transphobe?
I'm feeling extremely concerned about jjlw16. They've started a Discussion thread on Mister Seahorse [1] arguing that transgender men being pregnant doesn't fall under the purview of the trope even after a mod (albeit speaking as another user) refuted their claim.
I eventually decided to tell them to go to the TRS to argue their case and make their own trope if they really insist on their claim, but when I checked their edit history just to be sure (since I wasn't going to continue that debate after that), I noticed that all their edits are on that trope page alone and literally every single one of their edits is claiming that the trope has nothing to do with "transgender pregnancy" — which, considering they tried to edit it in eight times already, was likely reversed by another editor.
Their main argument claims that "trans men getting pregnant" is not the same as "men getting pregnant", which feels extremely transphobic and probably against some sort of site rule. (Their arguments reek of logical fallacies as well, but that's another story.) Permission to remove their edit from the main trope page and add a comment on-page addressing this?
Edited by AquaEclipseresolved Do we endorse anti-Fandom movrment?

Is this ok?
Edited by Kuruniresolved Troll post
Elegy Of The Forsaken recently posted on the Complete Monster Proposal Thread a character named Bear Thief, who is well below the heinous standard of Dragon Ball villains (simply wanting to kill Goku and threatening to eat him, which pales in comparison to the likes of Freeza, Piccolo, Vegeta, Buu just to name a few). In addition in the EP they put under redeeming qualities a list of the guys voice actors and the EP and subsequent posts have rather strange declarations like "I'm so happy" out of the blue.
This has been a wonk of theirs that they've been at for a while, most recently they made a few scattered posts about the character in 2017.
This is not the only reason I am reporting them however. If the strange EP was all they had, I wouldn't bother, however their edit history, is very competent. Looking at random edits they've done, they're very articulate and explains things rather well (although they do seem to have a thing for describing people dropping their glasses and crawling around blindly on all fours), with the exception of an edit they did rather recently on Nov 3rd (which adds a bunch of quotes around the word glasses). Which makes me suspect that their EP today and subsequent posts were a troll job.

I'd like to report Siegfried 1337 for a combination of off-topic posting and rudeness in the CM and MB threads. This is a pattern of behavior that goes back years, but has escalated in recent times. Just to show how far back this goes (and this is just what I can find by searching "Complete Monster/Magnificent Bastard Sieg" in the search bar):
I know he's been thumped every once in a while but I know I've hollered some of this and nothing happened, which makes me uncertain of the pattern has really been seen. Like I said, it goes back years, so I don't really know what else to do but take it here and see if this warrants anything.
