No idea why Great Storm Dragon copy-pasted another troper (their IP addresses are 16000 km apart, so sockpuppetry is unlikely) into the wrong tab and back onto YMMV, but they are a new troper and at least asked you about the deletion rather than put it back.
This has been reported previously. The troper in question seems to have done something similar on Characters.Wish 2023.
ValdoThat last entry is bizzare and misses that he was just trying to cowardly weasel out of consequences.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I got bored and decided to check their other edits and found they added an Unfortunate Implications entry(without sighting a source) and an Informed Wrongness entry to YMMV.Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur 2023, looking online it doesn’t seem to be an opinion shared by the majority of the show’s fan base.
In honor of Akira ToriyamaOh Jesus. "Every white person is portrayed as evil"? That's just an outright falsehood, and is a very common trope amongst racist far right reactionaries. The fact that all of their edits are exclusively bashing of modern Disney world with a diverse cast is a pretty big red flag IMO.
Edited by ForgoLight "Us weirdos have to stick together!"Yes, the red flags here are enormous—they're playing apologist for racist characters constantly and bashing POC. This is quite clearly an agenda.
Given the other edits made by this Troper, are these additions to Series.Ms Marvel and its YMMV page also questionable?
- Artistic License – History: While the show does do a great job educating viewers about the Partition of India, it's lasting impact & the great pain it caused (without getting into the more disturbing details), it lays full blame for it on the British, but in reality it came at the request of The Muslim Brotherhood. The Hindus simply wanted independence, the British were tired of Colonialism and just wanted to go home (hence why everything was so rushed), but the Muslims feared persecution from a Hindu Majority and thus wanted their own nation.

Yeah, this seems to be biased towards Muslims, I’m looking into the issue right now, I say cut it for now and if it counts I’ll try to rewrite it, but I don’t think it would count.
Edit: as expected it’s really difficult to say who’s responsible for the Partition of India but every involved faction has some responsibility in it, and this just feels like an agenda based edit. I will cut it.
Edited by LarryT In honor of Akira ToriyamaYeah, all this screams an anti-POC agenda
Edited by Agentofchaos REALITY IS AN ILLUSION, THE UNIVERSE IS A HOLOGRAM, BUY GOLD BYEEEE! | She/HerIt's definitely bizarre to place more blame on the muslims who were concerned about prosecution, than the British who, by their own admission, did a rush job at actually doing it.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessEspecially notable since, rounding back to the first example, they are clearly attempting to lionize the monstrously vile Philip Wittebane who, by sheer coincidence, is also British due to being from colonial New England, on top of ragging on Luz, who by equally sheer coincidence, is a Bisexual, Neurodivergent Afro-Latina.
I really don't want to make bad faith assumptions... but this is a pattern of extremely thinly veiled racism, or at best racist sympathies, all the while attempting to vilify POC heroes who have been nothing but kind to others. The fact that the only media they have targeted has been what can be called "woke" by the alt-right crazies is just further fuel against their case.
Even the ones that aren't as blatantly racially charged are still clearly being twisted to fit the shoehorned trope. The very first one I highlighted isn't a Broken Aesop because the theme about chosing one's own destiny was always about not waiting for it to coming knocking on your door. You have to actively chose to shape it, which is exactly what Luz did. All the Titan did was take notice of this, especially how kind she was to his son, and helped speed up the process so she could have a fighting chance against Belos who had a good 300 year head start.
"Us weirdos have to stick together!"I completely agree with you. I don’t want to make assumptions, but I don’t see how this could be interpreted any other way, their only edits are missuse of tropes that target POC to portray them negatively. Has anyone sent them a PM yet?
In honor of Akira ToriyamaI would also like to know if they should be informed of this ATT? In one hand, I understand that there might be a fear of them flaming out, but on the other hand I wonder how fair it is that they are being judged this much on their backs.
Well, they were just on ATT posting their own query, so logically they could have seen this by now. (And shock of all shocks, their trope idea is written with a weird conservative slant)
That said, this isn't really judgment behind anyone's back. This is just how ATT reports tend to work, especially when dealing with likely political agendas.
Edited by WarJay77 Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThey just sent me a PM asking why I undid their edit for Ms. Marvel. I told them to come here. Hopefully they’ll come here and clear the situation up.
Edit: they just sent me this

I have no idea how to respond to this. I’m not very good at confronting people and it’s late and I want to go to bed.
Edited by LarryT In honor of Akira ToriyamaYikes, that is quite the reply there, they basically admitted that they are guilty as charged.
Anyhow, Larry, don't post their PM here, paraphrase it instead.
"I did try to keep everything as neutral as possible, and provided a source to back up my claims".
I have a Rebuttal.
I'm gonna go ahead and send them a PM asking what's going through their head.
"Us weirdos have to stick together!"Please, don't. It's not our job to confront people. That's for the mods. Let's not provoke some sort of flame-out.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessOkay... I'm just feeling bad for everyone, since I was the first person to really challenge them, so I feel like I should at least follow up with that.
"Us weirdos have to stick together!"Would it be okay to make another ATT query compiling all the problematic edits they made? I feel that it would catch the eyes of a mod faster than if they were hidden in this query, which now has a lot of replies.
THE GOLDEN AGE WILL RETURN AGAIN!Sounds like a good idea.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI'm down for that!
"Us weirdos have to stick together!"Might also be worth mentioning that TLP draft they just made (I'm hesitant to link it here because I don't want people to flood it just to snark on it).
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I'm aware of the one you talked about. Already left a response on there. Apologies if I came off as snarky; tried to be as neutral as possible given the circumstances.
Here's a chronological list, feel free to copy:
- Complaining edit on The Owl House, claiming a case of Broken Aesop.
- Negative edits on Wish (2023), regarding Protagonist-Centered Morality and Villain Has a Point.
- Further edits on YMMV.Wish 2023, including a Designated Hero entry and a needless expansion on Strawman Has a Point.
- Complaining edits on YMMV.Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur 2023, including a Unfortunate Implications entry with no citation.
- An entry for the now-disambiguated Critical Research Failure on YMMV.Ms Marvel, with some highly contentious remarks regarding the Partition of India.
- The same on Ms. Marvel, just under Artistic License – History instead.
- An edit on a page for a culture-warring Youtube reviewer. While we can't condemn them for this on its own, it does confirm the perspective all these edits are originating from.
And there's of course the aforementioned TLP draft, titled John Walker Effect (after a character from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier). I won't link it, but the description begins with:
...yeah.
And the examples run the whole gambit of culture-war fiction, from Barbie (2023), to Velma, to Santa Inc. (quite honestly, who the hell still cares about this stupid-ass show in 2024?)
Edited by jandn2014 back lolEffin yikes. Just having a right leaning POV is one thing, but this is consistent lionizing of things alt right racists and reactionaries adore due to finding resonance within the figure in question as well as bashing of liberal and diverse media. This is very clearly attempting to push an anti-diversity narrative.
"Us weirdos have to stick together!"By the way guys, just to let you know, this doesn't appear to be the first time a troper tried to create a new trope titled "John Walker Effect".
Some troper named Noble Wolf appears to have been trying to make a query about it last year. Judging by how their edits stopped on the same day, it would appear that they were banned from the site.
We may have a ban invader or sock puppet.
Oh, it's definitely them. And they'd been bounced.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessYeah, and their edit history follows the same patterns of pretty ideologically biased edits on the Barbie movie as well as extended Donald Trump apologia for Epic Rap Battle on a few different pages.
ninja'd
Edited by number9robotic Thanks for playing Kings Quest V!Oh... so it was a sock puppet after all! But yeah, this screams hateful bigot making new account to evade a justified ban.
"Us weirdos have to stick together!"There's an ATT query made by them to make their trope.
And when I sent them a link to the query, they blew up at not only me- but the other participants as well, then threatened to report us all themself.
EDIT: I couldn't reason with them via PMs.
Edited by skan123Thank you for for investigating. Another mod did some digging and found matching IPs. GreatStormDragon has been bounced for ban evasion.
Hello! So I recently posted this in the "Is this an Example?" thread, and haven't really got replies, though they have been leaning to my side.
I found something that screams shoehorning from a biased source.
From the YMMV page of The Owl House:
Two huge problems with this. First, it's very clearly overly hostile and biased against the show judging by it's language, and attempting to whitewash Belos by suggesting he has a point. Secondly, both examples are taken completely out of context to form a rhetorical strawman. The first one isn't an example because she wasn't born with any special destiny. She only got the Titan's approval due to being her kind and loving self, especially to his son. The second is just plainly absurd. It's attempting to play moral judgement on some of the people who have suffered the most under the genocidal psychopath, when he had just made his second attempt to commit genocide against their species.
I took the liberty of removing the example from the YMMV page. Now that would be fine on it's own, even if I heavily disagree with it... If it weren't for this entry literally being a copy paste of something that was posted on the main page of the show which the troper Gamermaster removed. The weird part is that it was copy pasted onto the YMMV page by an entirely different user, and the first user has a total of two edits on their entire edit history, both of which are super hostile to modern Disney properties. Later on the person who posted it on the main Owl House page posted it right back on the YMMV page exactly as is without going to the "Is this an Example?" thread, and added further shoehorning. I removed those too... but now I am wondering if this is some sort of sockpuppeting situation due to the reasons listed above. At the very least it could warp into an Edit War.
