i'm sitting here just kind of baffled, wondering how Hollywood Action Hero's page came to be. It says it's a trope but it looks like a very odd index, seeing as its example list is broken into actors and the film roles that supposedly fit with 0 explanations.

I was already wondering about whether it was a meaningfully different subtrope of Action Hero when I went to check it out and this doesn't help. Someone on the discussion page asked "isn't this basically just The Ahnold" and yeah, more specifically The Ahnold is meant to be parodies of this trope/Action Hero.

There are 85 wicks to the page so in theory we could just crosswick, but I'm tempted to do a wick check on it regardless and bring it in under "Needs Help". Thoughts?

The page you speak of is already on the "Tropes Needing TRS" page (along with over six hundred other listings) under "Redundant / Overlaps with another trope", with the following entry, and has been since a mod added it in March 2022, apparently as a result of a post in the ZCE thread according to their edit reason:

• Hollywood Action Hero not only has examples with no context, but the concept also overlaps with The Ahnold. *(In need of a wick check or extra discussion before being taken to the TRS)

Thoughts: As typical, most of the Cleaning projects are gaining wicks. Special mention to The Hero, a Removal project, which continues to gain after being made DO. Pandaing To The Audience (cut) and Not Safe for Work (DO; >half the work namespaces done) are my project picks.

Alright, bear with me...

Four-Temperament Ensemble, which I'm going to do a wick check for this week (I already have the criteria in my sandbox) is, in the most generous of terms, a Mexican jumping bean. The trope has gone all over the place since 2013, from focusing on ambiversion and the related reflections of a work's Author Avatar, to focusing more on the current page image and how each temperament is unique, to people forgetting the image entirely to argue over cardinal points. Throughout all of this there's no Conversation in the Main Page thankfully, nor is there any edit war (for now), but which point is suited to each temperament has a bloated definition that construes navigation in-page instead of the four gods as mentioned in the former edit with no short analysis or anything hidden in the page source. On top of that the trope is plagued to hell and back with ZCE's despite the warning hidden in the page, which ideally should already reflect the syzygy of opposites with all of the foreign symbols that trace back to the trope since they've been established in the description ("friends or family from the start").

Funnily enough, the trope was added to Square Peg Round Trope to discuss how bloated the definitions in the trope have become (mostly about use of the "eclectic" temperament and squeezing temperaments between one character), so it feels like the trope has been bloated in the exact same way since the beginning, just like the description suits to friends and family that are categorized as such. I'm already pooped but unless the wick check is going to be up for grabs I was wondering whether or not the main page is worthy of a sandbox; I can't know if the trope is going to run through the same path as, say, Would Hit a Girl did, but since the definition has been relatively stagnant something's obviously being done correctly with the trope enough for it to be salvageable, which seems to pique other editors' interest (including mine, obviously).

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper Wall

I'm new-ish to TRS and TVT in general, but gotta say, Pandaing to the audience is the fastest cleanup of a triple digit trope I've seen. I guess chairs+cut makes for a pretty fast cleanup job.

I don't see any problems with the how that wick check is sorted.

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper Wall

I might get back into wick cleanup soon. I took a break from doing it for a while because my mouse's scroll wheel got loose and became less responsive last week, and I'm so used to using the scroll wheel when browsing and editing that the unresponsiveness was a pain to deal with, but the replacement mice arrived today (I say mice plural because I ordered a spare just in case it happens again; as I said elsewhere on the forums, both of them are just regular USB Microsoft mice instead of anything fancy, so they weren't expensive).

If it matters, there's currently a moratorium on new crowners for new NRLEP additions because we're ditching the categories the NRLEP index is split into in favor of sorting purely alphabetically, so the reorganization has to be finished before new crowners can be hooked.

I made the Creator's Oddball thread shortly before you posted that, so there aren't any free slots now, but I handled some wick cleanup for Teens Are Short earlier (after taking a break from dewicking for reasons I previously mentioned), so its slot might open in the near future.

Just put it on the TRS Queue, and your thread will be launched/you'll be pinged to the meta thread (depending on which you prefer) when your slot is reached.

Dunno if it's just my bad connection, but it seems like the TRS Queue is starting to lag. We have over 100 threads on queue and most of them have their OPs posted on the page, so I think we may be hitting the page length limit. If we have to split the page, how should that be done?

Idk. Personally it feels like people could just move their OP elsewhere but that makes it harder if someone else needs to make the thread.

I'll also say that some people actually post the entirety of the wick check in their OP, which is definitely inflating the page size. Ideally, the queue should only have the opening posts and a link to the wick check (which is hosted in a sandbox of some sort)

From my glance over, the three OPs on the queue currently that have their whole checks in them are Those Two Animals (Quanyails; it's nbd because it's not thriving), Shiny Sense (Berrenta; it's nbd because it's not thriving), Break Up To Make Up (Morgan; alright this one is pretty long)
