Fleming said in Casino Royale that 00 Agents retire by 42, but the series takes place over like a decade of real time, since the fact Jamaica is independent is discussed in Golden Gun, so 38-year old Bond in 1953 is way past that age by 1965.
Taking continuity this seriously is a new phenomenon in fandom — no one cared back then, at least not the way we do now.

"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."Cool of her to win for the film that is never coming out at this point.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."The film will come out.
But it's a toss-up whether or not it'll be on streaming or at the cinema.
Much of that, will, frankly, boil down to politics.
Oh, and RIP to Yaphet Kotto (Dr. Kananga / Mr. Big)
The cold never bothered me anywayHow would that be politics? Isn't that just a studio decision?
Optimism is a duty.DAMMIT! Seems like we’re losing a ton of Bond alums in recent years, including two Bonds themselves and another (Tanya Roberts) who wasn’t even all that old.

The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Since Spectre was first shown in October 2015, we've lost:
- Gabriele Ferzetti (Marc-Ange Draco in On Her Majesty's Secret Service) in December 2015
- Clifton James (Sheriff J.W. Pepper) and Burt Kwouk (Chinese General in Casino Royale (1967), Mr. Ling in Goldfinger and Spectre 3 in You Only Live Twice) in 2016
- Tim Pigott-Smith (Foreign Secretary in Quantum of Solace), Roger Moore (James Bond II) and Karin Dor (Helga Brandt, SPECTRE's no. 11, in You Only Live Twice) in 2017
- Eunice Gayson (Sylvia Trench), Joe Robinson (the diamond smuggler, Peter Franks, in Diamonds Are Forever) and Robert Dix (Hamilton in Live and Let Die) in 2018
- Albert Finney (Kincade in Skyfall), Shane Rimmer (the unnamed American launch controller in You Only Live Twice and the voice of Hamilton in Live and Let Die), Tania Mallet (Tilly Masterson in Goldfinger), David Hedison (Felix Leiter V) and Claudine Auger (Dominique "Domino" Derval in Thunderball) in 2019
- Honor Blackman (Pussy Galore in Goldfinger), Diana Rigg (Tracy Bond), Michael Lonsdale (Hugo Drax), Margaret Nolan (Bond's masseuse, Dink, at the Fontainbleu Hotel in Goldfinger), Sean Connery (OG James Bond), Geoffrey Palmer (Admiral Roebuck in Tomorrow Never Dies) and Jeremy Bulloch (A. C. Andrews in The Spy Who Loved Me and Smithers in For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy) in 2020
- Tanya Roberts (Stacey Sutton in A View to a Kill)
I'm having trouble remembering why the villains plan in Die Another Day was actually evil.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. He was spearheading an invasion into South Korea with a Kill Sat.

I thought he was just destroying the DMZ with a Kill Sat.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. That was step 1. The invasion was step 2.
It's why before he got the kill sat he wanted to use hovercraft to bypass the mines in the DMZ.
The second step is having north korea invade south korea which im pretty sure the later wouldnt like.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Oh, by the way, the whole use hovercraft to go over landmines thing? The Mythbusters tested that. Not only is it safe to drive a hovercraft over anti-vehicle mines, its also safe to drive them over anti-personnel mines.
Huh. What do you know?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I get that using a Kill Sat on South Korea is evil, but using a Kill Sat to get rid of the DMZ so North Korea can invade sounds like it would be bad in the long run for North Korea. It's not exactly Mordor. The evil plan should have been using the Kill Sat on South Korea nonstop.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. That was implied, but then again, it wasn't a very good movie. Everything or Nothing serves as a better finale for Brosnan's bombast all things considered.
Honestly don't know if it's the best thread for this, but…
Amazon officially buys MGM for $8.45 billion.
So I guess we can forget about No Time to Die showing up on Netflix. Heh.

It's staying in theaters as long as the Broccolis (who actually control Bond's media rights, not MGM) have it their way. The acquisition won't close for months anyways.
The big question is what happens after that.

Mileena MadnessA James Bond mini-series?
Optimism is a duty.I.... I would like that....

Uh I don't know man
The thing with James bond is that it's an event. We get to see every few years a big blockbuster film which is just a film series. I think spinning out live action series and such is not a good idea.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."
I think depending on the stage Batman of his career, essentially how many Robins there have been, he's anything between late 30's to mid 40's. Notably The Dark Knight Returns had him retired for 20 years and he was only mid-50's.
As I recall, I think Ian Fleming said 00 agents were supposed to retire by like 43. Most Bond actors were either already too old or on that edge by their second movie.
Do you not know that in the service one must always choose the lesser of two weevils!
