Miku Monogatari : Yume to Taisetsu na Mono note , or Mikumono for short, is a free Platformer and a Vocaloid fan-game by Peposoft. It was released at 2013 and supports two players, albeit only locally.

One day, Miku just woke up from her nap when he noticed one of her storybooks was conspicously open and has a glowing spot on it. All of sudden, she got sucked in and trapped in the book. To return to the real world, she must travel to various colorful worlds inside the storybook whilst dealing with several Eldritch Abomination that tried to stop her.

The game is available on the creator's site here note

This game contains examples of:

  • Action-Based Mission: Stage 2 - 3 has you plowing through a lot of enemies at a straight path. Luckily, you have several cute animals allies helping you.
  • Alliterative Title: Miku Monogatari.
  • Auto-Scrolling Level: Stage 1 -5 , 3 - 4 , and 3 - 5 automatically scroll to right (1 - 5 and 3 -4) or to up (3 - 5).
  • Blob Monster: Level 4 - 4 has green blob enemies that shoot purple goo. They are highly resilient, requiring 3 hits from Len or more from everyone else. Even the powerful large speaker subweapon cannot kill them in one-shot.
  • Boss Rush: This game has two boss rush mode based on difficulty.
  • Cartoon Bomb: The boss of stage 2 - 4 uses bombs in fight. Also, stage 5 - 2 features bombs falling down at the stage.
  • Chest Monster: Some of the bundled leeks contains bunch of enemies. Ironically, the actual treasure chests always contain a leek (used for your subweapons) and never an enemy.
  • Circling Birdies: Len has the star variant when he took damage.
  • Death from Above : Most prominent in stage 5 - 4. For every few seconds, the screen shakes before flame rains from the skies, forcing you to take a shelter.
    • Several stages has large rocks falling from the skies.
    • The final boss shoots lasers that fall from above the stage in its second phase.
  • Dem Bones: Stage 3 - 5 has guitar-playing skeletons that shoot musical notes.
  • Draconic Abomination: The boss of stage 4 - 5 is a monstrous, one-eyed dragon with long neck (its body is never shown).
  • Edible Ammunition : Rin attacks with throwing three oranges at once. This can be spammed to quickly clear multiple Mooks and still usable even whilst holding onto a swinging rope or a glider.
    • Several of the subweapons are this, like the exploding eggplant or the Spread Shot thrown leeks.
  • Eternal Engine: Stage 1 - 2 and 1 - 7 took place inside a food factory, while 3 - 3 took place inside a clockwork tower.
  • Every 10,000 Points: Everytime you collect 1,000 coins, the game reward you with 10 lives.
  • Flying Seafood Special: Fish enemies are found flying outside water in some levels.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Even though Miku is the only one who sucked into the storybook, you can play as Rin, Len, or Tako Luka. Likewise, the ending shows only Miku manage to escape to the real world even if you use someone else when defeating the final boss.
  • Giant Enemy Crab: One serves as a boss in stage 1 - 4.
  • Go for the Eye: The final boss is only vulnerable at its eye.
  • Improbable Weapon User : Len has a keytar (basically a portable keyboard) which he uses as a BFS. It deals the most damage from all normal attacks, but has a noticeable delay before Len swing the thing.
  • Invincible Minor Minion: There's an uncommon spike ball enemy that is invulnerable from any attack.
  • Level Ate: World 1 has this as its main theme.
  • Locomotive Level: Stage 2 - 1 has player hitchhiking a train. Note that the train and the goal platform is the only solid platform.
  • The One Guy: Len is the only male among the playable characters.
  • One-Winged Angel: When you deplete the final boss' first HP bar, it will grow big and now it trying to trap you inside gigantic claws. It also occasionally makes lasers falling from above the stage and the sparks that it drops become so big it's unavoidable if you're at its path.
  • Pinball Zone: Stage 3 - 6 features one before facing the boss. In Extra mode, the time limit is noticeably shorter, so you must act fast.
  • Player-Guided Missile : The leek missile subweapon is manually controlled with the direction buttons. Oddly, the missiles doesn't explode.
  • Shamu Fu: Tako Luka attacks with tossing a tuna that rolls on the ground.
  • Slippy-Slidey Ice World: World 2 has this as its main theme.
  • Spread Shot: Tako Luka's bubbles spreads as they float upwards. Some of the subweapons does this.
  • Super-Deformed: Miku, Rin, and Len are drawn with this style.
  • Super Not-Drowning Skills: You can stay underwater as long as you want without drowning (or at least before the timer runs out).
  • Token Non-Human: Tako Luka is the only non-human among the playable characters.
  • Trapped in Another World: The basic premise of the game. Miku found herself sucked into the world of one of her storybooks.
  • Unusual Halo: The boss of stage 3 - 6 has a green one, which probably playing the fact that it's an Eldritch Abomination.
  • Voice Grunting: Interestingly, the game used the Vocaloids' voicebanks (which is for intended to sing and not speaking) for this.
  • Womb Level: Stage 4 - 4 took place in the insides of... something.
