  • In JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, making sure Joseph is still himself after reviving him, Jotaro asks him who was the actress for Jane in Tarzan, the Ape Man, with Joseph correctly answering Bo Derek.
  • One Piece: At Skypiea, Zoro does the Tarzan yell while swinging with vines.

  • In the comic Plants vs. Zombies: Lawnmageddon #1, Nate Timely mentions they have to swing like Tarzan to escape the zombies.

  • Pop Culture Shock Therapy: Tarzan can't enter a diner because of its "No shirt, no shoes, no service" policy.
  • In FoxTrot Jason attempts to swing from a tree branch and fails. He mentions he knew he was too old to see Tarzan.

  • Carry On England: Sergeant Able does a Tarzan call while watching Sergeant Major Bloomer swinging on a rope.
  • Commando: After John Matrix used some electrical lights to swing across a mall, Cindy describes it as "swing from the ceiling like Tarzan".
  • George of the Jungle 2: At one point, Junior is seen reading a Tarzan book. Junior is shown throughout the movie to have a preference for "vine surfing", which is a reference to the Disney animated version of Tarzan, who is famous among Tarzan mythos for doing that.
  • Jumanji: Carl Bentley says this when he meets adult Alan Parrish who jumped onto his car.
    You got some ID? Oh, let me guess. You left it in your other Tarzan outfit?
  • Planet of the Apes (1968): When Taylor tries to communicate with the mute Nova, he eventually quips, "Me Tarzan, you Jane."
  • Octopussy: While hunted by Kamal Khan and his men in the Indian jungle, James Bond does the Tarzan yell while swinging through the trees.
  • In Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Pee-Wee is being chased though a Tarzan set on the Warner Bros. lot. He does the trademark yell at one point... then one of the security guards does it.

Literature

  • The Dresden Files: In the short "Something Borrowed" Bob says "Ungawa, bwana", a line co-opted from Tarzan.
  • In In Two Worlds, Anthony starts laughing to himself while watching the alphabet video he's seen countless times already. Lily says, "Why are you laughing? Watch movie. No laugh." Anthony thinks, Me Tarzan. You dumb, and laughs some more.
  • In Mindblind, Nathaniel remembers Cooper at age five trying to get him to play make believe by pretending to be Tarzan.

Live-Action TV

  • Full House: In "Our Very First Night", when Danny comes into Michelle's bedroom to check on Michelle, upon seeing hear wearing three diapers and two pajamas tied around her, Danny tells Uncle Jesse and Joey that Tarzan, who was raised by apes, went to bed in better shape than Michelle did. Jesse responds by saying that he's talking about someone who wore diapers his entire life.

Video Games

  • In Banjo-Tooie, the boss of Mayahem Temple is Targitzan, whose name is a pun on both "target" and "Tarzan". However, Targitzan is a sentient totem pole, rather than a wild man raised by apes.

Web Animation

  • Ukinojoe: In "The Family Simp (Real)", Peter and Homer's fight is interrupted by Maggie turning the TV on to "Dis Presents Tarz". This gets the two to reconcile with each other.

  • The Nostalgia Critic:
    • In his review of Hook, the Critic notes that Inspector Good is played by Phil Collins, and when Good leaves the children's hospital, the Critic imitates him saying, "I'm off to ruin Disney's Tarzan".
    • At one point in the review of Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, the Critic describes Tommy as "the humanized version of Disney's Tarzan".
    • In the review of The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, when the Critic finds out that Rosie O'Donnell made a cameo as the voice of an octopus, he dubs this a much more fitting role for her than Betty in the first movie and that "Not since casting her as a chimpnote  has felt so right".
    • The Critic has reviewed the film itself to see if it still holds up after over 20 years.
  • Zsdav Adventures: In part 1 of Aranyalma (Golden apple), Zsolti says they are jumping on trees like Tarzan.

Western Animation

  • DuckTales (1987): "The Jungle Duck" is a reference to Tarzan, including the bit about him really being Prince Graydrake.
  • The Fairly OddParents!: In "Shelf Life", the Tarzan: Lord of the Apes book is one of the books on the list of books approved by Mr. Crocker for Timmy to do a book report on over his summer vacation. When Timmy wishes Tom Sawyer out of his book, Tom changes the other books with Cosmo's magic wand, one of which turns Tarzan into the Lord of the Drapes.
    Tarzan: Me Tarzan. Lord of Drapes. You tacky. Who dressed you, cheetah? Ha!
  • Jumanji: The Animated Series: In "El Pollo Jumanji", Rock calls Alan a "Tarzan wannabe".
  • An episode of Muppet Babies (2018) is entitled "Tarzanimal". In this episode, Animal has to learn the importance of not playing too rough when he declares himself Tarzanimal and invites the other babies to play with him in the jungle. He eventually gets a taste of his own medicine when he meets Tarzan (played by Sweetums), who plays too rough with him.
  • Robot Chicken:
    • A sketch from "Bionic Cow" has Tarzan learn that not everything humans can teach him are as good as Jane's boobs.
    • A sketch from "Jew No. 1 Opens a Treasure Chest" has two tigers warn Tarzan and Jane about a cannibal tribe but Tarzan misunderstands them when he tries to talk to them.
    • A sketch from "Snoopy Camino Lindo in: Quick and Dirty Squirrel Shot" features the Rad Repeatin' Tarzan doll as one of the inhabitants of The Island of Recalled Toys.
    • A sketch from "May Cause Internal Diarrhea" has Tarzan's biological parents appear as two of the inhabitants of the Heaven for dead Disney parents.
  • In the Rugrats episode "Vacation", Didi does the famous yell while swinging on a vine to save Tommy (he was opening the cage to the white tigers, trying to save them).
  • The Simpsons: In "Eeny Teeny Maya Moe", Moe mentions Tarzan as an example of people who live in trees, along with The Berenstain Bears and flood victims.
