Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

On UsefulNotes.Mormonism, please edit the last paragraph to make the Main.Battlestar Galactica wick to Franchise.Battlestar Galactica, as well as changing

"in the original series were also depicted"

to "in the [[Series.BattlestarGalacticaClassic original series]]".

Can you replace the Ozai and Unalaq examples on Monster.Western Animation with the ones from YMMV.Avatar The Last Airbender and YMMV.The Legend Of Korra respectively.

Dogfights can be removed from D To F.

Although, I noticed it isn't currently locked. Should I just edit it myself?

A page not being locked usually means that people who aren't moderators are allowed to edit it.

Done. And since the wicks have been corrected (all five of them), Dog Fights can probably be safely cutlisted.

On Monster.Disney, please reformat the Pirates of the Caribbean examples like this:

  • Pirates of the Caribbean:
    • Dead Man's Chest and At World's End: Lord Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Company is the Big Bad of the second and third films. Upon his arrival at Port Royale, Beckett assumes illegal control and has the governor's messenger to the king murdered. Beckett later enslaves Davy Jones, forcing him to kill his pet Kraken and making Jones his personal attack dog of the seas. Governor Swann himself is later murdered when Beckett decides he's of no further use. It is made abundantly clear Beckett's prime control is power and control and piracy is a threat to that, particularly when he initiates a purge of anyone even vaguely associated with piracy with all legal proceedings suspended. The result is a massive line of people, many of whom aren't even pirates, taken to the gallows to be hanged. Not even children are safe as a little boy is shown being hanged as Beckett looks on without remorse or emotion. His only emotion is a satisfied "finally" when the prisoners indicate the pirate Brethren Court is going to be called.
    • On Stranger Tides: Blackbeard enjoys torturing his prisoners, locks them in cages and burns them alive, punishes anyone who tries to disagree with him, his horrible treatment of Syrena, and in the end, he is ready to sacrifice his own daughter to save his own life. His disregard for his own daughter's life was even implied when he was ready to force Jack Sparrow to jump the gorge under the threat of her death, and ordered a mook to load two guns with a bullet each, and keep even himself in the dark as to which guns are loaded, and later lied to his daughter about knowing which ones are loaded.

[down] & [down][down]: Sure.

Mm, I think we can all imagine the content of the message anyway. Broken caps lock, repeated stapling of two random profane utterances together into compound swear words that have never been used before and never will be used again, several dozen exclamation marks at the end of every sentence, and infantile angry emoticons.

Anyway, sorry for that moment of gravedancing. Here's hoping this turn of events makes the rest of the namespacing project run a bit more smoothly. I expect posts to this thread will drop in frequency by at least 75 per cent...

While curiosity wants to know what these messages were, but I don't think there is anything new in them.

Did everything to here, save for the Autism edit since one half of it is not about "causes" and the other half is already there.

Could someone please remove the "Hilarity Ensues" from the Cracked quote on Double Standard Rape: Female on Male? It's not part of the original quote. If it's unintuitive to have two blue links right next to each other, but if it's also in a quote, I think we should delete the pothole.

From here:

Please change the Buffy tree at Live-Action TV to this (and yes, Simone goes to both; she's in the comic, which however is a continuation of the series):
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer:
    • Angelus, described by one of the most ancient, powerful and evil vampires (Buffy's Season 1 Big Bad The Master) as "The most vicious creature [he'd] ever met," set the gold standard for evil in the Buffyverse, for centuries the scourge of Europe with countless murders, rapes and torture to his name. When he returned home, fresh from the grave, his little sister who opened the door remarked that he "had returned to her an angel." After slaughtering his family, he adopted the Latinate of angel (Angelus) as his name to mock that comment. Refusing to kill a longstanding nemesis vampire hunter, Angelus contented himself by murdering the man's wife and baby son, turning his young daughter into a vampire to force her own father to destroy her. His self-admitted masterpiece was seducing Drusilla, a pious, tormented girl with psychic powers, murdering her family and driving her to a convent before slaughtering everyone in the walls and turning her into a vampire to preserve his insane, broken work of art forever. When his soul is lost again, Angel delights in psychologically tormenting his former beloved Buffy's friends and family out of disgust for the human feeling Buffy gave him. The ultimate culmination of this was his brutal murder of Jenny Calendar, leaving the corpse for her lover Giles to find in a parody of a romantic rendezvous. Angelus's evil extended to his hope of awakening a demon to suck all of humanity into a hell dimension for eternal torture, solely for the fun involved.
    • Caleb from Season 7's last five episodes is a defrocked priest turned serial killer of young women, who uses the trust that people have in him to get closer to his victims, before torturing and killing them. In his first appearance, he guts one of the Potential Slayers and leaves her at the side of the road, as a message for Buffy. He then kills another one of the girls during a battle, mangles the arm of another, and puts out Xander's eye, cracking bad jokes the entire time. He also coordinates the actions of the Bringers, organizing the bombing of the Watcher Council's headquarters (resulting in most of their deaths), arranging the assaults on numerous Potentials, and trying to have Faith killed while she was in prison. A misogynistic sadist, who believes that all women are whores and deserve what he does to them, Caleb is The First Evil's right-hand man, and lives for the oncoming apocalypse, seeing the end of the world as a way to dispose of all those who do not share his mad religious convictions. He also gets a real kick out reenacting his murders with the shape shifting First. Perhaps the most frightening thing about Caleb, however, is that he is human, with nary a supernatural excuse, nor a Freudian Excuse, in sight.
    • Simone Doffler, the Big Bad of the Season 9 comic, initially started out as a rebellious slayer who didn't see the value of the lives of others and believes that Slayers are superior to normal people, and therefore should rule over them. In an attempt to soften her she was put under the watch of Andrew Wells, hoping to soften her; instead she goes rogue and steals a demon to use as a weapon and asks Buffy to turn over Andrew, who she wants to kill since he annoyed her. She also led a small but growing army of rogue slayers who set up base on a small island, where Simone beat up an old woman who gave them food and shelter. Simone's gang would later commit acts of terrorism, including raiding a military base and killing their general, relishing in the fearsome reputation it gave the slayers. Later Simone learned of the zompires, and plotted to find a way to become one and keep her mind intact, for the sole sake of killing Buffy, with which she has become obsessed. To experiment, she feeds her own followers to them. When she learns Buffy's sister Dawn is dying, she manipulates their friend Xander with a chance to save her by finding the deeper well. Her true intention was to awaken the Old One, Maloker, so that he would sire her into a vampire.
