Hi there, I'm Selkie but it was taken so I had to go with Selkies. I go by she/her but I won't get mad if you refer to me by other pronouns. I'm not a native English speaker, so please be patient as it may take me a while to understand certain things (i.e regional slang). I'm kinda a Hedge Trimmer, I hate Walls of Text and Natter unless it's very necessary for the example to be understood, and I dislike when slang is used too much, so expect me to do lots of random trimming, rephrasing, and correcting grammar/spelling mistakes. I'm constantly at Image Pickin' and TLP; I frequently upload videos of tropes in general, but especially tropes without videos (I also hate when pages get Video Overdosed, ugh!). I despise Speculative Troping (the 3rd point) because we don't analyze what the creators meant; this isn't Tumblr or Twitter.

I have a habit of adopting good, well-written inactive drafts and similar drafts in the salvage yard.

Comical Overreacting: My brand of humor. Usually just around my older sister who reciprocates and around kids who, for some reason, always laugh when I do this.
Creature of Habit.
Does Not Like Spam: Since I'm a picky eater I'll keep it to food I'd rather die than eat:
- Arugula or rocket.
- Onions.
- Pickles.
- Any spicy food. I can't tolerate it, like, at all.
Forgetful Jones.
Friend to All Children: I love kids in general (and they gravitate toward me) except for really rude or aggressive ones.
Go-Getter Girl.
The Perfectionist.
Literalist Snarker: My other brand of humor.
Picky Eater: I can count the food I like on my fingers but the food I don't like? I'd spend all day.
Unsportsmanlike Gloating: When I'm proved right about something or I win when the other side was expecting me to lose but it's very very lighthearted. I may even show signs of being a Competition Freak if I'm fired up enough.
Sir Swearsalot: Though I hold back sometimes when it'd make me come off as aggressive/angry esp with people who don't know me.

Movies: 3 Idiots, Always 2011, Andhadhun, The Beauty Inside, Bittersweet, Me Before You, Miracle In Cell No 7, Miss Baek, Room, Ready or Not (2019) (Also iconic, Daniel deserved better™), One Thousand Congratulations, Raya and the Last Dragon, A Werewolf Boy.
TV: (All Korean bc I don't have the attention span for seasonal Western shows or I forget them easily) Big Mouth (2022), Kill Me Heal Me (Does it depict D.I.D inaccurately and downplays it for laughs? The Bad Guy Wins: Only when I don't care about the good guys or the protagonist is the villain and I really want them to win.
Battle Couple & Action Girlfriend.
Battle of Wits.
Bittersweet Ending.
Break Them by Talking.
Breaking the Fourth Wall: But overdoing it can be annoying, we get it you're ~ so cool.
Card-Carrying Jerkass: To some extent.
Comically Lopsided Rivalry.
The Comically Serious.
Courtroom Drama: Though mostly Korean ones.
Dark Chick and all subtropes under it.
Dating Catwoman & Villainous Crush.
Distracted by My Own Sexy / Not Distracted by the Sexy / and Proud Beauty (but not always).

Opposing Sports Team: Only when subverted / averted and they are as fleshed out as the protagonists.

Most Sibling and Twin Tropes, like Rich Sibling, Poor Sibling, Twin Switch, etc. I'm a sucker for these dynamics and conflicts.
Silly Rabbit, Idealism Is for Kids!: Idealism is boring and unrealistic most of the time.
Smug Super / Smug Smiler / Insufferable Genius: Most of the time when the character is generally likable. To the point where I actually get sad when said arrogant/confident character loses this trait of theirs after a Character Development.
Strong and Skilled.
Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Excluding the tsundere/aggressive ones, that is.
Tall, Dark, and Snarky & Deadpan Snarker.
The Tease.
Unrequited Love Switcheroo.
Villain Protagonist: Not the character themselves, but because stories with villainous protagonists interest me more than those with typical heroic ones.
Wham Line / Wham Episode & CliffHangers.The Comically Serious

Pet-peeve tropes:

Abuse Is Okay When It’s Female on Male.
Adaptational Wimp.
Ambiguous Ending: And not the symbolic type where maybe if you analyzed / looked too deep into it you'll find some meaning behind it, but the super vague ones.
And the Adventure Continues / Here We Go Again!: I prefer final closures way more.
Depraved Homosexual / Depraved Bisexual / Masculine–Feminine Gay Couple / Camp Gay.
Disabled Love Interest (never seen it done in a way I enjoyed) / Disabled Means Helpless / Bullying the Disabled (when it's played for cheap drama and not addressing ableism in a critical and realistic way. Basically A Silent Voice and the tropes its female protagonist demonstrate).
Extreme Doormat: When it's played straight/double subverted.
Faux Action Girl.
Final Girl.
Girls Are Really Scared of Horror Movies: Unless it's inverted or subverted.
Happily Ever After.
Hot Springs Episode / The Peeping Tom / Outdoor Bath Peeping.
If You Taunt Him, You Will Be Just Like Him: Who cares, lol. Taunt that mf back!! Such an outdated aesop.
"I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: Boring. Yawning. Sloppy. Lazy.
Kafka Komedy.
Loving Bully (I'm talking abt you Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro).
Men Act, Women Are.
Neutral Female: Unless there's a good justification for this.
Painful Rhyme.
Unprovoked Pervert Payback: Boring. Yawning. Sloppy. Lazy x2.
Unrequited Tragic Maiden: It's just cheap drama, especially when they make her so likable... then BAM! she has a tragic end. Like at least compensate her for her patience and loyalty to the hero. Also, smells like misogyny when it's still played straight.
Sassy Black Woman and Scary Black Man.
Strictly Formula and all of Index of the Week tropes, because predictably repetitive patterns in a work annoy me to no end and I prefer stories w/ one connected plot unfolding than episodic storylines.
Survival Horror: With some exceptions, since the genre has become so predictable.
Tiny Tyrannical Girl / The Shana Clone type of Tsunderes. Bad, bad, lazy writing.
Toilet Humour: "Pees on y—" * Gunshot noise *. Did anyone hear something?
Oddly Visible Eyebrows art style: 1) It feels lazy. 2) It looks so weird. Stop drawing hair beneath eyes. Don't draw weird, long ass bangs that get in the way of making the eyes visible to the audience from the start. Full stop. Do this◊ instead. Hate these things IRL:

Appeal to Worse Problems (tho not always but if someone complains about a legit thing they're suffering from, don't be an ass and trivialize their problem.)
Die for Our Ship.
Draco in Leather Pants / Ron the Death Eater.
Easily Forgiven.
Executive Meddling: When it ruins something, however when it actually makes something better, it's fine by me.
False Dichotomy.

Gotta Ship 'Em All: Not everything is about romance & love. Be normal.

Nice Character, Mean Actor: The hypocrisy of it all bothers me.

All True Art subtropes, because true art is whatever an individual finds enjoyable/interesting/etc. and it has no fixed rules.
