Saitama Branch

    Retto Enjō

Retto Enjō (HxEro Red)

Voiced by: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Japanese), Matt Shipman (English)

XERO Gear location: Left wristband

B/W/H: 83-61-83 centimeters (33-24-32 inches)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/407486.png

A second-year high school student from Saitama who joins HxEros at the recommendation of his uncle after his childhood friend, Kirara Hoshino, was attacked by a Censor Bug when they were children.

  • Accidental Pervert: He has a bad habit of walking into rooms without knocking when at least one girl is changing and has the ability to end up in elaborate compromising positions with his teammates, usually while one or both naked.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Played with as it's not so much he can't admit it so much as he feels it wouldn't matter if he confessed to Kirara well aware of her issues.
  • Chick Magnet: Interestingly, of the female characters, only three have so far been confirmed to be interested in himnote  with Retto having a close friendship with Maihime and Sora. Of the remaining Tokyo Branch members, Moena has not shown any interest in him, while Yona is only fascinated about Retto for beating Shiko.
  • Declaration of Protection: He tells Kirara repeatedly that he'll protect her and will ensure that no-one suffers the same way as she did as a child.
  • Forced Transformation: In Chapter 6, he briefly gets turned into a separate tentacle until the Censor Bug responsible gets destroyed. For a brief while in Chapter 25, he literally loses his manhood when a stray attack causes his penis to turn into a weasel-like creature, progressively turning him into a girl.
  • Megaton Punch: His go-to technique in using H-energy is to land a powerful punch on his enemies that either sends them flying or outright destroys them.
  • My Greatest Failure: He blames himself for the way Kirara changed so drastically and their friendship falling apart, believing he should've tried to protect her from the Censor Bug that attacked them years ago.
  • Not What It Looks Like: A couple of times, the girls have walked in on him when he appears to doing something when he really isn't.
  • Oblivious to Love: He has only eyes for Kirara and thus the idea that any of the other girls could be interested in him is completely lost on Retto.
  • Sobriquet Sex Switch: When he's caught as a girl, he's forced to hide his identity as "Hiiro", his "little sister".
  • Stock Shōnen Hero: He fits the trope to a T.

    Kirara Hoshino

Kirara Hoshino (HxEro Yellow)

Voiced by: Ai Kakuma (Japanese), Brittany Lauda (English)

XERO Gear location: Left wristband

B/W/H: 88-60-82 centimeters (35-24-32 inches)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/407487.png

Retto's childhood friend. Once an outgoing kid, Kirara changed after she was attacked by a Censor Bug, to the point where she and Retto have drifted apart.

  • All Women Are Prudes: After her first encounter with the Censor Bugs, she shuts out all interactions with boys and deems any interaction with them to amoral, even when it's something as innocent as being friends. This is a Deconstructed Character Archetype example as it shows that her negative attitude towards boys is presented as something she must get over.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: She has feelings for Retto but can't bring herself to admit them even to herself at least partly stemming from her hang-ups from her first encounter with the Censor Bugs years ago.
  • Covert Pervert: All the girls are perverts to some extent, but Kirara is notable for being more deeply closeted about her urges than the others.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: She has golden hair and eyes.
  • Does Not Like Men: In the first chapters, she has this reputation as she's known as the "Iron Maiden". This is due to her treating boys with disdain and taking any opportunity to chastise them for being perverts even when they're doing nothing but standing around. That said, she is not completely heartless as at one point she (soundlessly) apologizes to one of the boys she rejected.
  • Extreme Libido: A major trigger for her initial character comes from when a Censor Bug tried to drain her H-Energy when she was 11. The bug apparently drained thousands of times more from her than any other human with no noticeable effect. In essence, her libido alone was enough to overfeed the bug to the point of explosion.
  • For Want Of A Nail: In-Universe. She realizes that her time in high school is not at all what she imagined it to be, namely her love life, and had always imagined having a boyfriend at this point. Kirara recognizes that it's the Censor Bugs' fault for making her feel ashamed of her feelings, which caused her to close her heart off to boys and Retto in particular.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: After getting slut-shamed by a Censor Bug before it exploded from consuming too much H-Energy, Kirara began to treat any interaction with boys with shameful disgust to the point that she wears gloves when picking up a set of documents marked "Male." She gets called out by several characters over her attitude, and even she herself realizes that she doesn't really want to act the way she does.
  • In-Universe Nickname: The "Iron Maiden" as she known at her school.
  • Megaton Punch: Like Retto, her main use of H-energy is to deliver a devastating blow that at its max is enough to destroy the Censor Bug nest in a single attack.
  • Not So Above It All: In-Universe with a chapter that causes her to revert back to her mind and personality pre-encounter with the Censor Bugs. People are bewildered by the antics of The Stoic Does Not Like Men Kirara being friendly and flirty with Retto.
  • Slut-Shaming: Five years prior to the start of the series, she and Retto were attacked by a Censor Bug who drained her H-energy only for Kirara to be fine afterwards. It declared that she must be an extreme pervert as she was unaffected after having thousands of times more drained from her than any normal human and then exploded, which understandably had negative and traumatic effect on her.

    Momoka Momozono

Momoka Momozono (HxEro Pink)

Voiced by: Sayuri Yahagi (Japanese), Emily Neves (English)

XERO Gear location: Left thigh belt

B/W/H: 77-54-79 centimeters (30-21-31 inches)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/411804.jpg

A energetic tomboy, Momoka was apporached by Jō to join HxEros and is the most enthusiastic about being a hero and enjoys teasing both Retto and the girls.

  • A-Cup Angst: Like any girl her age, Momoka wants big boobs, which is only exasperated by the fact that her older sister is a beautiful model. Additionally, she has the smallest breasts among the four girls, even more so than Sora, the youngest of the gang.
  • Alliterative Name: Momoka Momozono.
  • Always Second Best: Her older sister always found a way to outshine Momoka. This includes getting perfect grades and honors. Furthermore, she's currently is working as a model.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Purplish hair and eyes of the same color.
  • Cute Little Fangs: She has a snaggletooth.
  • Hopeless Suitor: It's implied that she has a thing for Retto, but is well aware that that he has only eyes for Kirara and no-one else; this doesn't stop her from offering him to gather H-energy together before passing it off as a joke.
  • Jumped at the Call: She's the most enthusiastic about being a member of HxEros despite the nature of how H-energy works and where it comes from, her argument for having Kirara join the team is that superhero teams are made of five members.
  • Kick Chick: Momoka wears her XERO gear on her upper thigh and her main attack are Diving Kicks and Slide Attacks.
  • Masturbation Means Sexual Frustration: She apparently uses this as a method to build her H-energy at times. However, she can sometimes go too far and let all the energy out right then and there. Such a mistake results in her having effectively no power when they have to rescue Kirara from the Censor Bug nest.
  • One of the Boys: Implied as male students are shocked to see her in a dress while on a "date" with Retto.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Compared to the other girls, Momoka isn't as bothered ending up naked during a fight and it was her idea to go the Censor Bug nest sans underwear to build H-energy. In this case, it was actually to hide the fact she accidentally released her H-energy.

    Sora Tenkūji

Sora Tenkūji (HxEro Blue)

Voiced by: Yuuki Kuwahara (Japanese), Mallorie Rodak (English)

XERO Gear location: Pendant

B/W/H: 86-52-78 centimeters (34-20-31 inches)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/407489.png

The youngest member of the team, Sora is a ditz who occasionally wanders into Retto's bed when she is half asleep. She likes to draw erotic manga and is a little embarrassed by people knowing this about her.

  • Asleep in Class: Her A Day in the Limelight chapter shows that the only class she doesn't sleep through is, naturally, art class.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: As aforementioned, she is the youngest member of the Saitama Branch.
  • Friendless Background: Implied as when Hiiro gives Sora her contact information, she states its the first time she ever did so with a classmate.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: Played with. She enjoys reading and drawing manga, her main interest being more of the erotic nature, which can be her source of H-energy. However, it's more for an artistic interest as she has done things such as grope Kirara's breasts for research.
  • Mangaka: She likes to draw manga and her dream while hunting a dream-inducing Censor Bug is apparently selling manga at a convention.
  • One Degree of Separation: Sora is classmates with a girl named Hiiro who helps the former out of a tricky situation after fighting a Censor Bug. The latter takes Sora back to her house and mentions her big brother that just happens to be home: Retto. All three are surprised to know one another.
  • Power Gives You Wings: She uses her H-energy to create a pair of angel-like wings that allow her to fly.

    Maihime Shirayuki

Maihime Shirayuki (HxEro White)

Voiced by: Ai Kayano (Japanese), Kate Bristol (English)

XERO Gear location: Choker

B/W/H: 92-62-90 centimeters (36-24-35 inches)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/407490.png

Maihime is a friendly girl who believes she does not have any special abilities. Unbeknownst to her, however, her H-energy is a lot stronger than she thinks.

  • Ambiguously Bi: She gets the occasional Ship Tease with Retto, but her A Day in the Limelight chapter at the bathhouse has her gathering H-energy from a sensual massage from "Dark Kirara".
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: Her A Day in the Limelight chapter shows her being uncoordinated and terrible in physical activities.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Her frequent screw-ups and difficulty gathering H-energy gives her a lot of self-esteem issues, best seen when the team goes under a physical and she's ranked last in the amount of H-energy one can use. Ironically, it's implied that she has biggest capacity for H-energy of them all.
  • Male Gaze: With a bustline of 92 centimeters (36 inches), Maihime has by far the largest breasts among the Saitama HxEros girls as Momoka sometimes lampshades, much to her annoyance.
  • Odd Friendship: Maihime is a Cute Clumsy Girl with low self-esteem issues, so much so most her classmates are baffled as to how she is best friends with Chiya Hōya, the "prince" of their all-girls school.
  • One-Gender School: She is the only one in the gang to attend one such school, specifically Saotome Girls' School.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Has dark pink hair and means well.
  • Super-Scream: Her H-energy is usually weaponized in the form of a sonic scream.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: She never believes it but her friends and teammates have repeatedly told Maihime how awesome is/can be due to her self-esteem issues.

    Jō Anno

Jō Anno

Voiced by: Shin-ichiro Miki (Japanese), Daman Mills (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/408442.jpg

Retto's uncle, Jō works for the Earth Defense Force Saitama Branch as the Chief of the Hero Section.

  • Cool Uncle: As much as Retto can be embarrassed of him at times, it doesn't change the fact he's a brilliant scientist that can come up with some amazing ideas.
  • Horny Scientist: He comes off as this due to his legitimate interest in researching the HxEros and H-energy which is tied to sexual arousal.
  • No-Respect Guy: Played for Laughs as his Stripperiffic outfit and enthusiasm for researching H-energy makes it hard for the teens to take him seriously most of the time. When he first presented the HxSuits, the team immediately walked out and chastised him for making jokes due to them looking like underwear.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: When Chacha first joins the team, he understandably wanted her to stay at the lab for security reasons. He nevertheless allowed her to dorm with the humans instead after recognizing the bond they had formed.
  • Shipper on Deck: He supports, if silently, the idea of Retto and Kirara getting together.
  • Stripperiffic: Male version. His outfit consists of leather/latex skintight pants and shirt that show off his stomach under his lab coat.

    Chacha

Chacha

Voiced by: Nichika Omori (Japanese), Suzie Yeung (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/408441.jpg

A Censor Bug and oldest child of the Queen of her kind. However, she was born with a mutation that gives her the ability to invoke H-energy rather than drain it. She fell in love with Earth and its inhabitants the moment she arrived on the planet and happily joins the team after they destroy the Censor Bug nest.

  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: Chacha study about human sexuality extensively, but doesn't quite grasp how humans can embarrassed by blatant examples of it.
  • Intrigued by Humanity: As soon as she arrived on Earth with the Censor Bug nest, Chacha fell in love with Earth and and was fascinated by the complexity of human sexuality.
  • The Runt at the End: Unlike the other Censor Bugs who are insect-like, Chacha has canine features including fur, ears, and a tail. Additionally, one of her default forms is that of a small adorable puppy.
  • Token Heroic Orc: Her very first scene is to Glomp Kirara in excitement of meeting a human. The second is her introducing herself politely, talking about her fascination with humanity, and asking Kirara to help her escape the nest so she could explore the planet.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: She has the ability to change her appearance and even mimic other people though she retains the same dark skin and her ears.

    Rumba

Rumba

Voiced by: Daisuke Kishio (Japanese), Chris Guerrero (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/408440.jpg

A puppy who lives at the team's house.

  • Meaningful Name: In-Universe. Because of her long fur that cleans off the dust things and the way she walk, she was named after the robotic vacuum cleaner.
  • Team Pet: Her sole function.

    "Dark Kirara"

"Dark Kirara"

Voiced by: Ai Kakuma (Japanese), Brittany Lauda (English)

A manifestation within Kirara's mind that takes the form of herself from before her first encounter with the Censor Bugs five years ago. She begins to appear after an encounter with a Censor Bug with dream-related abilities, stating her goal to see fulfill their Childhood Marriage Promise.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: She only called "Dark Kirara" because Kirara considers her to be a representation of her dark past. She's more the playful, flirty personality that Kirara used to have and her stated goal is get Retto and Kirara together.
  • Good Angel, Bad Angel: She even dresses the part, wearing a leather one-piece bathing suit with a child's backpack and bat wings all the while encouraging Kirara to build her H-energy with Retto.
  • Shipper on Deck: A strange example since she just a figment of Kirara's mind, thus she's just giving a voice to the girl's own subconscious desire to be with Retto.
  • Split Personality: The manifestation of Kirara's personality pre-Censor Bug encounter and her repressed desires. She has the ability to make Kirara's body move, though she states that as a figment of her mind it actually is Kirara doing those things.
  • Talking to Themself: How Kirara appears to other people since they can't see "Dark Kirara".

Tokyo Branch

    Shiko Murasame

Shiko Murasame

Voiced by: Lynn (Japanese), Michelle Rojas (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/415618.png

A member of the Tokyo Branch introduced hunting the same Censor Bug as the Saitama Branch, picking a fight with Retto when she and Moena attempt to kill Chacha despite being an ally. He defeats them by overloading them with H-energy at which point Shiko decides to make them "H-friends".

  • Eyepatch of Power: She wears her XERO gear as an eye patch, which itself is made to look like a normal medical patch.
  • Friends with Benefits: She considers Retto her "H-friend" after he becomes the first person to defeat her using H-energy. She also becomes an open rival for his affection.
  • Love Triangle: The most assertive of the girls for Retto's affection, telling Kirara outright that the two are at war to make Retto fall in love with them.

    Moena Wakakusa

Moena Wakakusa

Voiced by: Natsumi Takamori (Japanese), Kristen McGuire (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/415619.png

Introduced with Shiko while hunting for the same Censor Bug as Retto and the girls. She is seen always wearing a mask and has H-energy abilities tied to (and thus her arousal) smells.

  • Cool Mask: A cloth mask that covers the bottom half of her face.
  • Flat Character: Not much has been expanded on her beyond being a member of the Tokyo Branch, her smell-based abilities, and being an old friend of Momoka's.
  • Girlish Pigtails: With one of the hair brands being her XERO gear.
  • The Nose Knows: She can apparently "smell" Censor Bugs and her H-energy is tied to the arousal from certain smells.
  • Those Two Girls: She's almost always seen in the company of Shiko and it's implied they're each other's best friend.

    Yona Ichougi

Yona Ichougi

Voiced by: Yuuki Takada (Japanese), Katelyn Barr (English)

The "diligent" one of the Tokyo Branch and seemingly the most mature and kept together of the group. Seemingly.

  • Covert Pervert: Yona is the one who presents herself as the most controlled and mature member of the group. However, she literally gets off on the idea of being "corrupted".
  • Hime Cut: Her hairstyle of choice.
  • Not So Above It All: As aforementioned, while she comes across as being mature, she's really a pervert.

    Touma Taiga

Touma Taiga

Voiced by: Ayaka Ohashi (Japanese), Clifford Chapin (English)

The male member of the Tokyo Branch team and a fan of Retto, who is quite effeminate.

  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: When first introduced, the audience would be forgiven to think he was a girl until he ask Retto where the boys room is.
  • Fan Boy: He's a huge fan of Retto due to being the male member of the team who destroyed the Censor Bug Nest and wants to learn from him to the point of calling him "master".
  • Homoerotic Subtext: Played for Laughs in his interactions with Retto; moments include him cuddling up to Retto in the middle of the night and the girls walking on them.

Friends and Family

    General
  • Locked Out of the Loop: As far as they know, the members of the Saitama Branch are a bunch of part-time volunteers whose job requires they all live in a dorm together.
  • Muggles: Although everyone has H-energy, the members of HxEros have particularly large amounts of it and can utilize them for special abilities or attacks.

    Chiya Houya

Chiya Houya

Voiced by: Aoi Koga (Japanese), Brittney Karbowski (English)

A classmate and friend of Maihime at the all-girls school they attend.

  • The Ace: One of the top students in her school either academically or athletically.
  • School Idol: Is well-liked amongst her classmates who for the life of them can't understand her friendship with Maihime who is a total klutz.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: She witnesses Maihime defeat a Censor Bug who had snuck into her school and transformed several of her classmates into eel-like creatures. She doesn't say anything but is nevertheless happy that her friend finally has something she's good at.
  • Tomboy: To the point she is nicknamed "The Prince" at her school.

    Hiiro Enjō

Hiiro Enjō

Voiced by: Emiri Suyama (Japanese)

Retto's little sister who apparently lives alone and is classmates with Sora.

  • First Friend: Implied with Sora who notes them sharing contact info is something she's never done with another classmate before.
  • Free-Range Children: There's nothing to indicate her parents live with her.
  • Not What It Looks Like: When she asks about Sora's part-time job, she becomes worried it's something sketchy because of her packing extra clothes in her backpack.

Censor Bugs

     In General

Censor Bugs in General

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/censorbugs.PNG

A race of aliens similar to insects that came to the Earth to steal all the H-energy from humans and drive them to extinction. They are the main antagonists of the series.

  • Aliens Are Bastards: They come from the outer space and are trying to drive humans to extinction by stealing their H-energy and erasing the need to reproduce for some unknown reason. The series implies they have done the same thing on other planets.
  • Always Chaotic Evil: With the exception of Chacha, all of them are portrayed as unrepentant monsters who take great pleasure in taking H-energy from other beings and are devoid of positive qualities.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Some of them look like anthropomorphized insects with female attributes. Their appearance doesn't limits to arthropods only, with some other looking like other invertebrates like earthworms or sea cucumbers.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Though the first Censor Bugs who appear in the series look like human sized insects, as the series progresses, most of them end looking like attractive human women with insectoid attributes.
  • Decapitated Army: Chacha theorizes that, to truly defeat the Censor Bugs, the Queen must be eliminated first. True enough, once their nest is destroyed and the Queen goes missing, the Censor Bugs become unorganized, with some of them searching for the Queen and others hiding through the country.
  • Emotion Eater: They are able to steal H-energy (an energy that apparently manages the sexual drive of living beings) from others, leaving them as husks devoid of any desire to reproduce.
  • Monster of the Week: In classic tokusatsu fashion, most of them appear for one chapter, confronting the main characters and causing trouble in the city, only to be destroyed at the end.
  • Non-Mammalian Hair: While some of them display hair-like structures on their head, others really have actual hair despite being insect-like beings. Of course, being an alien race, their biology probably differs from the insects of the Earth.
  • Non-Mammal Mammaries: All of them (even the ones who look less human-like) possesses noticeable breasts, in spite of not being mammals. Again, it must be due the fact they are aliens.
  • One-Gender Race: All of them appear to be female, with most of them looking either like bugs with the attributes of a human female (like hair or breasts) or like human females with arthropoid qualities, and with all of them having a female sounding voice. Giving the similarities between them and eusocial insects like ants or bees (like the presence of a Queen who pressumably gave birth to them all), it makes sense, as the workers of the colonies of those insects are all sterile females that work for the Queen, just like the Censor Bugs do (though how the Censor Bugs reproduce hasn't been revealed yet). It is implied in the last episode that the Queen uses H-energy to give birth to the other Censor Bugs.
  • Undying Loyalty: They are extremely loyal to the Queen and will do anything to fulfill her goals. Given that the Queen has the ability to brainwash others, it is ambiguous if their loyalty is genuine or not.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Due to their role in the narrative, they don't receive much characterization before being destroyed for good.

    The Queen

The Queen

Voiced by: Kikuko Inoue (Japanese), Marissa Lenti (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/moganaiwazu.PNG

The leader of the Censor Bugs and Chacha's mother.

  • Abusive Parents: Though she seems to love Chacha to some extent, she trapped her inside a room in the Censor Bugs' nest, and had the other Censor Bugs torment her for her condition. Upon their reunion, the Queen also tries to brainwash her to make Chacha join her cause, in spite of wanting to use her friends as an unlimited resource to extract H-energy from.
  • Barbie Doll Anatomy: Though she fights naked, she lacks nipples and genitals. This may be justified, as she's an alien.
  • Big Bad: She's the main antagonist of the story, employing the Censor Bugs to steal the H-energy of humans and cause their extinction due lack of wanting to reproduce.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Her main ability allows her to control any Censor Bug she wants. She can also do this to any being she injects her blood into.
  • Corrupt Politician: She uses her influence as the governor of Saitama to unjustly accuse Jō and arrest him, disbanding HxEros in the process.
  • Cute Little Fangs: While her teeth are sharp, when she closes her mouth, a single snaggletooth can be seen in the left side of her mouth.
  • Cute Monster Girl: By far the most human-like of the Censor Bugs along with Chacha. Other than her antennas and the oddly darked colored parts of her skin, she looks fairly human.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: In her own way, she does seem to care about Chacha, as she ordered her subjects not to kill her despite being "defective" and was very happy to see her again.
  • Faux Affably Evil: She acts politely and easygoing to Retto and his friends at first, but she does intend to use them as H-energy cattle and quickly shows her more ruthless side when they escape her trap room.
  • Final Boss: As the Big Bad of the series, she's the last enemy to be confronted in the anime.
  • Keystone Army: According to Chacha, the only way to truly defeat the Censor Bugs is by defeating the Queen.
  • Mole in Charge: She is the governor of Saitama.
  • Monster Progenitor: According to Chacha, she's the one who created the Censor Bugs, making her the progenitor of them all.
  • Mother of a Thousand Young: Assuming that the Censor Bugs operate like those of their Earthly counterparts, all Censor Bugs descend from her though nothing has been confirmed.
  • Orcus on His Throne: She spends most of the series in her lair, leaving the heavy work to her minions. She finally decides to take down HxEros herself using her powers as a politician.
  • Parents Know Their Children: She instantly recognize Chacha despite having changed her appearance.
  • Tentacled Terror: She reveals she has created an octopus-like creature able to drain H-energy with its tentacles. She releases it to deal with HxEros while she escapes.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Her public persona, Iwazu Mogana, is the respected and beloved governor of Saitama.
  • Younger Than They Look: She claims that she's 17.

    HakkouChuu

HakkouChuu

Voiced by: Shizuka Itō (Japanese), Meli Grant (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hakkouchuu.PNG

The first Censor Bug introduced who attacks a public appearance of an idol.

  • Bishōnen Line: Zigzagged. Her transformed state makes her body more monstrous, but her face becomes more humanoid and less insectoid.
  • Flat Character: Her only purpose is to introduce the Censor Bugs and just goes around draining H-energy before being destroyed.
  • Green and Mean: She's green colored, like most common mantis are, and takes sadistic pleasure into taking H-Energy from human beings.
  • Monster of the Week: She's the first Censor Bug to appear outside of flashbacks, and is the main antagonist of the first chapter.
  • Not Quite Dead: She gets defeated twice: the first time when she fights Retto and the second when she goes after him in revenge after being saved by her Queen.
  • One-Winged Angel: During her second appearance, thanks to the new body the Queen gave to her, she's able to transform into a giant, monstrous version of herself.
  • Slaying Mantis: She's basically a vicious, giant mantis with boobs.
  • Starter Villain: As aforementioned, she's the first Censor Bug to appear outside of flashbacks, and the first one who confronts HxEros. Ironically, unlike the other Censor Bugs who appear later, HakkouChuu manages to be a tougher enemy and even gets the chance to transform into a stronger Censor Bug thanks to the Queen giving her a new body.
  • Too Dumb to Live: She gets One Hit KOed by Retto and only survived by the Queen giving her a new body. Naturally, she thinks it's a brilliant idea to go after him again. She only really had a chance because Retto had expanded his H-energy, and even still got destroyed when he and Kirara team-up.

    KiseiChuu X

KiseiChuu X

Voiced by: Ryōka Yuzuki (Japanese), Marissa Lenti (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mosquito_censor_bug.PNG

The Censor Bug who attacked Retto and Kirara as children, an encounter that would leave a negative effect on her personality.

  • All There in the Manual: Her name is KiseiChuu X, though you will only know this if you read supplemental material.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Her own ability to steal the H-energy from humans proves to be her downfall when she attempts to absorb the H-energy from Kirara, who has so much it makes her explode.
  • Mosquito Miscreants: She takes the shape of a giant, muscular humanoid mosquito, and steals H-energy from humans to lead them to extinction.
  • Phlebotinum Overload: How she died, as she absorbed so much H-energy from Kirara that she literally exploded, but not before she had some choice words that would greatly affect her.
  • Posthumous Character: She was killed five years before the start of the series.
  • Shown Their Work: Her death by exploding after absorbing lots of H-energy from Kirara mirrors how some real mosquitoes die by exploding when they drink more blood than what they can take.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Was destroyed five years before the series began. However, her encounter with Retto and Kirara had a major effect on their relationship that they're still going through today.
  • Token Motivational Nemesis: In spite of being the one who estranged the relationship of Retto and Kirara and that her actions eventually made Retto join HxEros to fight the Censor Bugs, she only appears in a single flashback scene and is long dead by the time the series starts, with her being only mentioned from time to time.

    TaranChuu

TaranChuu

Voiced by: Asami Imai (Japanese), Kristen McGuire (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/taranchuu.PNG

A Censor Bug who attacks a high school girl in an alleyway to increase the length of her skirt.

  • Curb-Stomp Battle: On the receiving end by Retto. It takes a single punch from him to defeat her.
  • Monster of the Week: Subverted. At first, it appears that she may be the main threat of Chapter 2, but she ends defeated rather easily by Retto and the true villain of the chapter ends being the more dangerous JikoChuu.
  • Poke the Poodle: Unlike the more dangerous Censor Bugs who steal H-energy and leaves humans as emotionless husks of their former selves, TaranChuu's main goal is to increase the length of the skirts of high schoolers.
  • Power Pincers: Her arms ends in pincers that she uses to lengthen the skirts of her victims.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: She's killed in the very scene she debuts and only gets a few lines before Retto defeats her of a single punch to the face.

A Censor Bug who attacked the Retto and Kirara's school, wanting young humans to absorb H-energy from and avenge the death of her little sister TaranChuu.

  • Avenging the Villain: As she appears in the school, she says she may play with the students there before the one who destroyed her little sister appears.
  • Beware My Stinger Tail: Like real life wasps, her abdomen can stretch and enlongate, forming a tail-like appendage ending in a stinger (similar to Cell) that she (presumably) uses to absorb H-energy from other beings. She doesn't gets the chance to use it, however, as she's killed by Retto when she was about to attack Kirara with it.
  • Break Them by Talking: When she finds the boy whom Kirara rejected and corners him, she ends breaking his spirit when she tells him that she felt all the dirty stuff he wanted to do with Kirara.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: In spite of being portrayed more seriously than TaranChuu, she doesn't fares any better against Retto, who quickly disables her tail and destroys her of a single punch to her stomach.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Unlike other Censor Bugs before her, she has a more humanoid appearence and her insect qualities (other than her stinger) are downplayed.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She seemed to care for TaranChuu, as she comes to the school partly to find the one who destroyed her.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: Displays a glowing red eye (since the other is covered by her "hair") when she's threatening her victims.
  • Monster of the Week: Of Chapter 2, replacing the short-lived TaranChuu as the main threat.
  • Sadist: She takes considerable pleasure in taunting and tormenting her victims before draining their H-energy.
  • Smug Snake: She acts arrogantly in front of powerless civils who cannot harm her, but once someone like Retto, who can effectively fight her, appears, it takes a single punch to obliterate her to oblivion.
  • Wicked Wasps: She looks like a combination of a female human and a hornet. Naturally, she's portrayed as a sadistic individual.

A tiny butterfly-like Censor Bug she, along with three other Censor Bugs very similar to her, are behind the theft of several "lucky panties".

  • Cute Monster Girl: She looks humanoid in appearance, and her insectoid features are downplayed compared to other of her kind.
  • Harmless Villain: She is completely innocuous to humans and her biggest crime is stealing panties. Even her only known attack is used to escape instead of damaging the enemy. As such, Retto doesn't have much trouble defeating her when he punches her.
  • Monster of the Week: For Chapters 3 and 4, though she ends being killed midway through the latter chapter and only last that long cause Kirara was unable to control her H-energy.
  • Moth Menace: Of the butterfly variety. This is downplayed as the most evil action she commits is stealing the panties of female humans.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: Her tiny proportions, butterfly-like wings and the harlequin-like clogs she wears on her feet bring the traditional image of a Tinkerbell-like fairy, though she's in truth an insectoid alien.
  • Panty Thief: She along with two other members of her kind stole a considerable quantity of panties, which is the reason why HxEros ends up targeting them. She doesn't do this out of perverted interest, however, but as a way to take H-energy.
  • Poke the Poodle: Apparently, her way to get H-energy is to steal lucky panties from girls.
  • Pretty Butterfly: Downplayed. She's certainly not ugly, but she serves an alien entity who wants to lead humans to their extinction.
  • Smoke Out: She's able to produce a pink mist from her wings that allows her to distract the enemy enough to escape.

Decoy form

An earthworm-like Censor Bug and one of the three original lieutenants of the Queen. Using a decoy version of herself, she lures Retto into a trap and turned him into one of her tentacles, next targeting Maihime's school.

  • Body Horror: While not as horrifying as other examples, she fuses people turned into tentacles to her own body.
  • Co-Dragons: Alongside with ShimiChuu and GitaiChuu, she seems to be one of the top subordinates of the Queen. Among them, she's the first to be defeated.
  • Combat Tentacles. She possesses tentacles resembling earthworms around her body that she can use to attack, restraint and bind her victims and then absorb their H-energy. Once she drains all their energy, she then turns them into tentacles and adds them to her body.
  • Cute Monster Girl: She resembles a curvy woman with lots of tentacles covering her body.
  • Evil Plan: Her main plan is to absorb the H-energy of humans, turning them into tentacles that will later absorb the H-energy of more humans, until turning all of mankind into tentacles. Retto comments how long-term the plan is.
  • Eyes Always Shut: The coif-shaped structure above her head obscures her eyes.
  • Eye-Obscuring Hat: Though not a real hat, she possesses an aforementioned coif-shaped structure above her head that normally obscures her eyes.
  • Facial Markings: She possesses purplish ringed shaped marks on her cheeks. These are also displayed in the rest of her body.
  • Fighting a Shadow: She has the ability to create a clone of herself that she uses to distract her enemy while she hides in a nearby place and attacks the unsuspecting victim.
  • Forced Transformation: Not applied to herself, but she can turn the people which she has drained of their H-energy into tentacles that become part of her body. Those transformed are bound to her will unless someone is able to break them from ShokuChuu's body. If she's defeated, the transformed person will return to their previous form.
  • Monochromatic Eyes: While her eyes usually hidden by the coif-like structure above her head, she actually has green eyes. Strangely, her decoy form is depicted having orangish pupils.
  • No Ontological Inertia: Once she's destroyed, all the people whom she turned to tentacles regain their original form.
  • Underestimating Badassery: She loses because she didn't expect Maihime to be powerful enough to defeat her of a single attack, choosing to attack her directly instead of resorting to trickery like she did with Retto.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: She's the first Censor Bug to outright defeat Retto, and also the first one who attempts to take down HxEros with tricks instead of brute force.
  • The Worm That Walks: It's implied that her true form is the little jellyfish-like decoy she uses to lure Retto to her, with her humanoid form being composed of all the tentacles she creates after absorbing H-energy.

An ant-like Censor Bug and one of the three original lieutenants of the Queen. She targets a bookstore of the city under the pretext that the Queen wants it censored.

  • Black Eyes of Crazy: Her eyes have black sclera.
  • Book Burning: Not a literal example, but the intention is the same. She attacks a bookstore with the intention to destroy dirty books in order for humans to not discover their contents.
  • Co-Dragons: Alongside with ShokuChuu and GitaiChuu, she seems to be one of the top subordinates of the Queen. Among them, she's the second one to be defeated.
  • Cute Little Fangs: She sports one of them in the left side of her mouth.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Downplayed respecting other Censor Bugs who follow the same pattern. She looks more humanoid than the likes of TaranChuu, but she still has some inhuman features (like a lack of nose).
  • Dirty Coward: She flees immediately after HxEros arrive at the bookstore, leaving the job to deal with them to her minions.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She possesses very long twintails that reach to her waist.
  • Killed Offscreen: While Sora deals with her minions, by the time the narrative goes to check her fight with Retto, she's already defeated and the only thing we see of her demise is the explosion provoked by Retto and her agonizing sounds.
  • Knight Templar: Her loyalty to the Queen is absolute, and she will destroy whatever goes against her, independently if she personally dislikes it or not. She comes to destroy the bookstore where GitaiChuu was infiltrated just because the Queen wished to see the dirty books it was selling destroyed.
  • Mook Maker: Her main ability is the one to create several ant-like beings to make time for her to escape and overwhelm her enemies with numbers.
  • No Ontological Inertia: Her minions are able to outlive her, as shown by the first OVA.
  • Not Quite Dead: Not herself, but Sora's segment of the first OVA reveals some of her minions outlived her and are still damaging dirty books in some bookstores. Sora promptly destroys them once she discovers this.
  • Quantity vs. Quality: Her minions fall on the "Quality" side of things. She can produce lots of them in small periods of time, but they are very weak and easy to destroy.
  • Zerg Rush: The main use she gives to her minions is to make them charge at the opponent to overwhelm them with numbers.

A shapeshifting cockroach-like Censor Bug and one of the three original lieutenants of the Queen. With the help of ShimiChuu, she disguises herself as the employee of a bookstore to fake being a victim and kidnap Kirara while Retto and Sora are busy dealing with her partner.

  • Bespectacled Cutie: The human disguise she uses turns her into a bespectacled, human version of herself, with similar hair and hair antennas.
  • Co-Dragons: Alongside with ShokuChuu and ShimiChuu, she seems to be one of the top subordinates of the Queen. Among them, she's portrayed as the most important and competent out of the three, being also the only one who survives during their debut chapter. In the next one, the rest of Censor Bugs appears following her orders faithfully.
  • Creepy Cockroach: She's a humanoid cockroach girl, though the "creepy" part doesn't come from her being a cockroach, but from the fact that she's helping the Queen to lead humans to extinction.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Apart of looking humanoid, she also has a cute face too. It only serves to hide her ugly personality.
  • Decoy Damsel: She pretends to be an innocent bookstore employee during ShimiChuu's attack on the place. In actuality, she's waiting for a chance to kidnap Kirara by injecting her a narcotic.
  • Did Not See That Coming: Kirara suddenly awakening her powers to punch and destroy her takes her completely by surprise.
  • Dirty Coward: Other than her ability to transform into a human, she doesn't seems to possess any other known power, so she resorts to dirty tricks and underhanded strategies in order to win against her enemies. This is befitting considering she's a cockroach Censor Bug.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: She's the second in command among the Censor Bugs, and the last obstacle to beat during the first half of the series. As such, she may have been destroyed, but the war against the Censor Bugs is still going.
  • Eyes Always Shut: Though it's hard to spot at first, if you look enough into her hair, you can see that she has her eyes perpetually closed with the following shape (^_^).
  • Fights Like a Normal: Downplayed. Despite being a Censor Bug, she lacks the power others of her kind possess, so she usually uses more human-like methods to accomplish her goals.
  • Faux Affably Evil: She refers to Chacha as "Princess", but her words carry a disdainful intent and she quickly reveals her contempt for her.
  • Hostage Situation: She takes Kirara as a hostage and threatens Retto that, unless he surrenders, she and two of her comrades, who appear behind him, will drain her H-energy. It seems to work at first, as Retto surrenders, unable to let the Censor Bugs harm Kirara, but it completely backfires once Kirara awakens her powers, as a result of regretting that the Censor Bugs ruined her life, and punches her to oblivion.
  • Jerkass: She's a very unpleasant individual, belittling her enemies, playing dirty to have her way and mistreating Chacha both physically and verbally for something that is not her fault.
  • Recurring Boss: Unlike the other Censor Bugs, who tend to be Monster of the Week, she survives her debut chapter (where she took a passive but effective role) and becomes the main threat of the next one.
  • Smug Snake: She's usually confident and dismissive of others when she has the control of the situation, but when things stop being in the direction she likes and she loses the control she previously held, she's left as nothing more than a harmless wimp. She's after all, a cockroach-like being.
  • Social Darwinist: Tells Chacha openly that, in nature, if a mutant is not useful to the rest, it is eliminated, and that the only reason why she's allowed to live is for both pity and being the first child of the Queen.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Her special ability (mimetism), allows her to turn into a human in order to infiltrate human society. She comments other Censor Bugs have this ability, and many of them are right now hidden among humans.
  • A Twinkle in the Sky: Her ultimate fate after being punched by Kirara, though it is less of a twinkle and more a pillar of energy that completely obliterates her.

A spider-like Censor Bug tasked with guarding Kirara after she's being captured by GitaiChuu.

  • All There in the Manual: Her name is never revealed in the series. Instead, it's mentioned on the official anime website.
  • Butt-Monkey: Her whole screentime consists of her getting hit unconscious with a nearby rock by Kirara, being mocked by her partner, and then being easily defeated by Maihime.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Downplayed. She has the body of a human woman (bare the pincers), but her face is arthropoid.
  • The Guards Must Be Crazy: MihariChuu is not the most exemplary guard. First she falls for Kirara's trick of cutting the ropes that were restricting her because she was getting aroused by it, getting hit in the head with a rock for her troubles. Later, instead of searching for the captive upon regaining consciousness, she instead wastes time sitting on a rock with KeikaiChuu. Even worse, the Censor Bugs in the nest were aware that HxEros would invade it, so she's totally unprepared when they raid the nest and start to cause havoc.
  • Mook Maker: Like ShimiChuu, she's able to generate arthropod minions (spiders in her case) to fight.
  • Power Pincers: In the same being of TaranChuu, she possesses pincers instead of hands. She uses them to create her minions.
  • Uncertain Doom: In the anime, she's never shown exploding when Maihime defeats her. Instead, she simply falls to the ground, leaving her fate ambiguous.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: She doesn't gets too much screentime before she's defeated.

Another Censor Bug guard, she has even worse luck even worse than MihariChuu.

  • All There in the Manual: Her name is never revealed in the series. Instead, it's mentioned on the official anime website.
  • Cute Monster Girl: She looks fairly humanoid and is one of the Censor Bugs that looks the less like an insect.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She mocks MihariChuu for being defeated by a human.
  • The Guards Must Be Crazy: For all her sarcastic comments towards MihariChuu, she's not a better guard than her. Conversating nonchalantly with a partner during a possible invasion is not a very smart idea, and she ends paying the price in the shape of being obliterated by Retto's attack.
  • In the Hood: Her head is covered with some kind of cape that acts as a hoodie. It's pretty ambiguous if it is part of her body or not, as the cape displays two insectoid eyes and has antennas.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: She gets hit by this even worse than MihariChuu or TaranChuu. She only gets a single line before being destroyed, without having the chance to show her personality or powers.

A silk moth-like Censor Bug who causes havoc in the city by mentally regressing people to their childhood.

  • All Webbed Up: In her first (and last) scene, she appears sit down in what it seems to be giant balls of silk. It's ambiguous if there were people trapped inside them or not.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Like PanChuu, she is a lepidotera-like Censor Bug with a humanoid appearance. She's, however, much bigger than the tiny PanChuu.
  • Fountain of Youth: Her main ability gives her the power to mentally regress people to their infancy by covering them with some kind of slime.
  • Monster of the Week: Of Chapter 13. Though she's quickly destroyed, her ability ends allowing the main plot of the second half of the chapter.
  • Moth Menace: A more straight example than PanChuu. She's based on a silk moth and can even shoot web from her mouth like a silkworm.
  • No Ontological Inertia: Subverted. Even after her (apparent) death, her ability keeps affecting Kirara for a while until the effect eventually fades out.
  • Projectile Webbing: She can also shoot projectiles made of silk from her mouth. They barely faze Kirara, who casually tear them with her puch.
  • Uncertain Doom: Even after Kirara destroys her body, she continues to talk to her and a moth of a similar color to her is seen fleeing from the scene, leaving it ambiguous if Kirara effectively destroyed her.
  • Undying Loyalty: Even for the standards of the Censor Bugs, in her short screentime, she's the one shown to be most loyal to the Queen.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye. She only appears in a single scene, though she receives more characterization than the likes of KeikaiChuu.

A firefly Censor Bug hidden in a abandoned building with the power to force people to sleep and manipulate their dreams, showing their biggest desires and making them not wanting to wake up.

  • Combat Pragmatist: In battle, she's careful, prefers to deal with her enemies indirectly to gain advantage, and waits for a chance to perform sneak attacks on her oponnents.
  • Combat Tentacles: Her monster form possesses lot of them. it's implied that she can use them to make induce people to sleep.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Zigzagged. She looks reasonably attractive in her default form, but her transformation makes her look hideous and inhuman.
  • Dream Weaver: Her main skill allows her to shape the dreams of her victims into the thing they desire the most. She uses this to make the people affected by her ability to never want to wake up and live forever in the dreams she creates, thing that would lead to the extinction of the human race.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: Being voiced by Akeno Watanabe, she's only second to the Queen in what refers to low female voices.
  • Forced Sleep: In addition to manipulate to dreams of people, she's also able to forcefully put them to sleep in order for her to use her main ability on them. Some people are resistant to it, however, such as Shiko and Moena, who easily shrug off the effect and proceed to defeat GenmuChuu.
  • In the Hood: Like KeikaiChuu, she possesses a hoodie, though hers looks more like a piece of clothing.
  • Killed Offscreen: Subverted. At first, it looks like Shiko and Moena defeated her offscreen. However, she later reveals to be alive and presents a proper battle before being truly killed.
  • Lighting Bug: The end of her abdomen is yellow colored, unlike the rest of her purplish body, implying she's some kind of firefly Censor Bug. This is unrelated to her actual dream manipulating powers, however, and she doesn't possesses any kind of light-related power.
  • Monster of the Week: Of Chapters 14 and 15, as she serves at the main source of conflict.
  • Not Quite Dead: While she initially seems to have been defeated by Shiko and Moena, she in truth was playing dead in order to attack Shiko, Moena and Retto after they run out of H-energy. She later is destroyed for real by a combined effort of Kirara, Momoka, Maihime and Sora.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: While initially portrayed as another Censor Bug defeated easily by HxEros, she proves to be quite cunning and strong at the end, needing the girls from the Saitama Branch performing a combined attack on her to be defeated.
  • One-Winged Angel: She's able to transform into a bigger and less humanoid version of herself, possessing lots of Combat Tentacles.
  • Opaque Nerd Glasses: Wears very thick glasses that don't show her eyes and present the typical black spiraling lines they tend to feature. It serves to enhance her weak physique. Weirdly enough, they are also present in her transformed form, making ambiguous if they are a part of her body or an actual object.
  • Squishy Wizard: While her ability is effective, her actual combat abilities are mediocre, as she is quickly defeated by Shiko and Moena once they find her. That's why she prefers to deal indirectly with the Saitama Branch rather than confront them directly. This is subverted later when is revealed that she can turn into a stronger Censor Bug with much more physical power.
  • Telepathy: She's able to communicate mentally with other beings, using it to taunt the Saitama Branch and Chacha as soon as they put a foot on her lair. To her chagrin, Momoka calls her out for using that when she could have used a speaker to communicate with them at distance.
  • A Twinkle in the Sky: She ends blasted away by Momoka and Kirara, resulting in this before exploding.

A Censor Bug resembling a sea cucumber hidden in a beach of Saitama. To keep people away from her hideout, she creates a new species of sea cucumber that drains H-energy of anything they touch, menacing a local beach house where the Saitama Branch was staying.

  • Berserk Button: She hates people hurting her minions. This is the reason why she decides to attack the girls of HxEros.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Displays a single fang on her mouth when she opens it.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Looks fairly humanoid except for her head and abdomen.
  • Didn't See That Coming: She's astonished by the surprising H-energy of Touma before dying.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Summoning sea cucumbers may not sound as the most awesome of skills, but things change when those sea cucumbers are able to cripple HxEros by absorbing their main way of fighting. Thanks to this, she's even one of the few Censor Bugs who come close to defeating the whole HxEros team from both branches.
  • Monster of the Week: Of Chapter 21, where her presence is what makes both the Saitama and Tokyo Branches become allies in order to stop her.
  • Mook Maker: She's able to create a strange species of sea cucumber who drain H-energy and shoot a slimy, sticky substance.
  • No Ontological Inertia: Averted. Her sea cucumbers minions are able to outlive her, as shown where one of them was shown to be hidden between Retto's clothes when he was in the hot springs with Touma, to his horror.
  • Oh, Crap!: She reacts like this before Touma disintegrates her with his energy beam.
  • Quantity vs. Quality: Like ShimiChuu and MihariChuu, the minions she produces are painfully weak by themselves, but she can create a lot of them at will. They fare better against HxEros than the ones of ShimiChuu and MihariChuu, though, managing to restraint all the girls and only being defeated thanks to Touma's specific usage of H-energy.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: Though she never raises her voice too much until her demise, she clearly enjoys draining her victims dry and watching them struggle as they lose their H-energy.
  • Squishy Wizard: In spite of her surprisingly effective ability, all it takes to defeat her is a single attack from Touma.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Through the episode where she appears, she targets all HxEros members except for Touma, the apparent weakest member from both branches. She ends killed by him after he gains H-energy from seeing Retto touching the boobs of Kirara and Maihime, reducing her to nothing of a powerful energy blast.
  • Zerg Rush: Her sea cucumbers minions act this way, overwhelming their opponents with sheer quantity.

A Censor Bug targeted by Retto in a riverbank, with the ability to turn the "virility" of any male whom she stabs with her stinger into a weasel.

  • Beware My Stinger Tail: Possesses a long tail that ends with a stinger similar to a syringe. She uses it to inject her ability into her targets.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Other than her tail, her appearance is fairly human-like.
  • Cyborg: Unlike other Censor Bugs, she displays some mechanical parts on her body.
  • Disappears into Light: As she dies, she disintegrates into particles of pink light, unlike other Censor Bugs who explode when they are killed.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Her right eye is human-like, while her left eye is insectoid.
  • Forced Transformation: If a male is stabbed by her tail, he will have his "virility" turned into a pink weasel that will escape. If the weasel is not put into its original place, the male afflicted will slowly turn into a woman, and if he doesn't do that in a determined period of time, the transformation will be permanent.
  • Gender Bender: Along with turning the "masculinity" of her target into a weasel, her stinger also makes her victims slowly suffer a change of gender that becomes permanent if they are unable to put the weasel into its "original place".
  • No Ontological Inertia: Subverted. Her ability works even after her death, as Retto learns the hard way.
  • Taking You with Me: Pulls a non-lethal example on Retto. Seeing that she's done for, she stabs him with her stinger while he was distracted and injects her ability into him, at least giving him some troubles after her demise.
  • Torso with a View: Retto pierces her body with his punches, leaving her with a giant hole in her stomach, that ends killing her.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: She's killed in the scene where she appears, with her biggest contribution to the chapter being engaging Retto into some gender bender troubles.

A Censor Bug who tries to sabotage a festival of the city in order to avoid couples from forming.

  • All There in the Manual: Her name is never revealed in the series. Instead, it's mentioned on the official anime website.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Gives one to Retto, who is unable to harm her because he didn’t have his XERO gear at the time.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: Subverted. Unlike other Censor Bugs, she wears the typical coat fair workers wear in festivals and fairs. It's never stated if she used it to infiltrate among the workers or if she wears it normally.
  • Karmic Death: She wanted to ruin the festival to avoid the formation of couple who would watch the fireworks, but when Kirara kills her, the explosion she generates as she's destroyed ends up creating a huge explosion similar to fireworks, thus making the very couples she intended to distance get closer as they observe the spectacle.
  • Love Is a Weakness: She considers humans to be pathetic creatures for hanging on useless temporal emotions like love.
  • Light Is Not Good: She's predominantly white and gold, but she's one of the few Censor Bugs who plans on killing humans by herself.
  • Mad Bomber: She planned to use the gunpowder of the fireworks of the festival to kill a great quantity of people. Kirara quickly puts a stop to this after some encouragement from Retto.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Unlike other Censor Bugs, she's willing to directly kill humans, wanting to detonate the gunpowder for the fireworks of the festival on a large gathering of people. Her hammy attitude makes her more comical than other examples, but it is still unnerving.

    Spoiler Character

Unnamed Fifth Tokyo Branch Member

The mysterious fifth member of the Tokyo Branch of HxEros who is revelaed to have gone missing just before the members were chosen. She suddenly appears to rescue the Queen of the Censor Bugs, revealing to have allied with them.
  • Adapted Out: She does not appear in the anime adaptation, allowing Retto and Kirara to defeat the Queen without interference.
  • Dark Is Evil: Along with her black hair and black French Maid outfit, her XERO gear, an earring, is also black compared to the other members.
  • Foreshadowing: Downplayed. When Momoka said how HxEros need five members, it seemed like it was just Momoka being Momoka, especially after meeting the Tokyo Branch who only had four members. Then the unnamed member appears...
  • French Maid: The outfit she's wearing when rescuing the Queen.
  • Remember the New Guy?: She doesn't get mentioned at all until her appearance in Chapter 28 with a flashback having Retto ask about this. This is justified as Touma reveals that her existence and disappearance is supposed to be a secret from the other branches.
  • The Runt at the End: An enemy of HxEros who is a human that has allied with the Censor Bugs.
