    Mikoto Nishina

A 19-year-old college violinist. Her weapon is a large, two-handed sword named Maestro.
  • Animal-Eared Headband: The Kemonomimi Costume DLC in Battle Grounds, which adds animal ears for the main characters: Mikoto got the cat ears.
  • BFS: Maestro.
  • "Blind Idiot" Translation: The U.S. version of the series artbook makes a blatant mistake in Mikoto's profile and claims she is the one rendered deaf by an accident rather than her uncle who lost his hearing due to illness.
  • Curtains Match the Window: She has black eyes that match with her long, black hair.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Wears a frilly black dress, and a black ribbon on her head to match.
  • Foreshadowing: In Battle Grounds, when you arrive at the Gym in Stage 1, a Red Mikoto is confronting Shiro-Mikoto, who then takes off after you arrive. This is the Mikoto of the Demonsphere, who is supposedly allied with Phantom.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Mikoto got her powers as a necessity to defend herself from a girl with a sword that looked identical to her. Since then, all she wants is to have her old life back. In Omnia, her desire to not fight anymore makes the spirit in her sword manifest in the form of Maestra, a young-looking girl who fights on her stead.
  • Jack of All Stats: Mikoto has balanced stats across the board, and her moveset gives her tools to deal with threats of varying situations.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: At certain point, she comments that after all this running around and fighting, she feels like she was in an anime, or a fighting game.
  • Martial Pacifist: If possible, she would rather not fight at all, but the circumstances force her hand.
  • Parental Abandonment: She lost her parents due to an accident at a young age, after which she was raised by her musician uncle.
  • Shotoclone: Her moveset includes a projectile move (Schneidend), a Shoryuken (Gestrichen) and a rushing attack (Geschwind).
  • Sword Plant: One of Mikoto's Victory Poses, has her planting Maestro on the ground.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Mikoto's Schaurig Phantom Break fires off a blast of aura power from her sword.

A 14-year-old idol and star of a late night TV show. She reluctantly participates in taking part of Phantom's tournament after receiving a letter from one of her biggest fans who is terminally ill, which prompted her to put put more enthusiasm into her work to inspire her fans. Her weapon is a magical wand called Candy.
  • Declaration of Protection: Her wish is to help a Delicate and Sickly fan of hers who suffers from an incurable disease. Said girl turne out to be Ren's sister Ryo, and Mei learns that he became a Duelist in order to help her. Upon meeting each other and realizing that they both have the same wish, both decide to stop fighting, as Ryo would be sad to learn that they're getting hurt, or hurting others.
  • Girlish Pigtails:She has her hair tied in twin tails.
  • Fragile Speedster: Mei has fast mobility, but weak defense and offense. Her tools offers lots of zoning potential and pressure her opponents from a distance, but her many of normal attacks has short reach and her damage output is generally low outside of her Critical Burst.
  • Magic Wand: Her weapon: a magic wand with a red spherical tip called Candy.
  • Magical Girl: If her Magic Wand wasn't already an indication.
  • Stripperiffic: She wears a magical girl-esque costume that shows off some midriff and thighs.
  • Teen Idol: After doing an audition she became a famous actress and Idol Singer at the age of 14.

    Yuzuha Fujibayashi

A high school girl, who is also a ninja-in-training from the Bakufu era. Her weapons are Shoukaku and Zuikaku — a ninja blade and a kunai.
  • Animal-Eared Headband: Yuzuha gets the tanuki ears for The Kemonomimi Costume DLC in Battlegrounds.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Yuzuha's wish: She wants to become a full-fledged Shinobi, help her family bring back the Shogun as ruler of Japan... and see a lot of castles, because she really loves castles.
  • Blood Knight: While not on the same level as M, she appears very enthusiastic about the idea of fighting other Duelists to make her wish come true, to the point of even admitting that she's having fun, getting stronger with each fight, and sometimes, losing sight of her real goal. In her good ending, she mellows down after learning the truth.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Has light brown eyes that match her light brown hair.
  • Dual Wielding: With her Shoukaku, a ninja blade, and Zuikaku, a kunai.
  • Face–Heel Turn: In her bad ending, Phantom manages to successfuly turn her against Waka and, while reluctant at first, she decides that, to get stronger, she has to beat her friend.
  • Fragile Speedster: Subverted. Yuzuha has very quick mobility and strong defense, but average striking power. Her moveset gives her strong Cycle of Hurting potential in the right hands with deceptive and versatile attacks, but her very same moves can be exploited via guard canceling and openings during zoning attempts.
  • Flaming Sword: She's able to infuse fire on her Shoukaku and Zuikaku right before striking.
  • Flash Step: As a ninja, one of her specials has her vanishing for a while, then reappearing right above her opponent to attack with a Diving Kick, or an Izuna drop.
  • Highly-Visible Ninja: A high school girl who happens to be a ninja, and fights her foes out in the open.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: Yuzuha wears one in battle. She even looks back and taking off her scarf in of her Victory Poses.
  • Stock Ninja Weaponry: She wields a ninja blade and a kunai as her main weapons, and her Forward+SP has her throwing energy shurikens at her opponent.

    Waka Kumon

A descendant of the miko (a family of exorcists that have had some dealings with Phantom in the past). She fights with Kahoutou, her naginata, to stop the duels.
  • Big Sister Instinct: In Battle Grounds, saving Nagi is her top priority.
  • Fragile Speedster: Waka has fast mobility and decent offensive capabilities, but lacking in defense. Her moveset is geared to controlling space between her and her opponent with fast attacks, but her attacks can leave her wide open for opponents to turn the tables on her.
  • Miko: Waka comes from a family of exorcists who have dealt with Phantom before.
  • Naginata Are Feminine: Waka's naginata, Kahoutou.
  • Playing with Fire: As Shin-Waka, she has an alternate fire-based moveset. She can infuse fire on her Kahoutou as well as shoot fireballs.
  • Razor Wind: Her Forward+SP called Suijin-Ha, is a powerful wind slice that travels across the ground, and her Hard Style Phantom Break, Hiryu Suijin Reppa, is a bigger, red-colored variant of this.
  • Secret Character: Omnia adds an alternate version called Shin-Waka, who can be unlocked after completing her Story. She's just Waka with an alternate moveset and fire powers.

One of the few males in this contest. An 18-year-old young boy who is fighting to cure his little sister of an incurable disease. He fights with a gauntlet named Koutarou.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He has always looked after her younger sister Ryo. Due to his family's struggles to pay her treatment, he accepted to become a Duelist to cure her.
  • Curtains Matchthe Window: Has black eyes that match with his black hair.
  • Declaration of Protection: His wish is to cure his sister Ryo, of an incurable disease. Turns out that this is also Mei's wish, and in one of his his bad ending, he either reluctantly abandons Ryo and Phantom's tournament to prevent causing any more grief for her, or Ryo decides to end her life on her own as she would rather be gone than seeing Mei and her older brother hurting themselves or others.
  • Mighty Glacier: Ren has very strong striking power and solid defense, but has somewhat sluggish movement. He also has decent rush down potential to pressure opponents with hard-hitting attacks and high stun rates, but has little in the way to address being pressured himself by the opponent and lacking in ranged combat compared to the other fighters.
  • Power Fist: Ren's weapon, a gauntlet called Koutarou.
  • Sleeves Are for Wimps: His outfit's lacking them.
  • Shock and Awe: Some of his attacks zap his opponents. His Back+SP, Lightning Edge, has him infuse electricity on his Koutarou gauntlet, and charge at his opponent. His Hard Style Phantom Break, Thunder Scepter, has him attacking with a big ball of electricity, similar to Benimaru's Raikouken.

She has no memories and fights only to satisfy her lust for battles. Her weapon of choice is a mace made of scrap materials, named Humongous.
  • Adorable Evil Minions: Her Quick Style Phantom Break, Descartes Wanderers: She summons various black bunny plushies that come raining from above, and run back and forth to stop M's opponent on their feet.
  • Ambidextrous Sprite: She naturally wears her Eyepatch of Power on her right eye, but it changes to her left eye when facing in the opposite direction. The orientation of her single braid also changes.
  • Ax-Crazy: A relentless girl with violent tendencies who will gleefully attack both friend and foe alike.
  • Blood Knight: M solely fights for the lust of battle, and attacks other Duelists when they're more vulnerable which is why the other characters see her as little more than a scavenger.
  • Break the Haughty: The sadistic and violent M has this in her bad ending: M's body finally succumbs to all the wounds sustained during her battles, and only has a few minutes of life, minutes during which Phantom restores her lost memories. Such memories come into conflict with her new conscience, and she has a massive breakdown. Her last thoughts are towards Ria, and her mother.
  • Carry a Big Stick: Her weapon is a mace made of scrap metal named Humongous.
  • Eyepatch of Power: Wears one over her right eye.
  • Flunky Boss: In Battle Grounds she serves as the boss of the Akihabara stage, and is assisted by various mooks.
  • Identity Amnesia: M has no memories about herself, but doesn't seem to care about it.
  • One-Letter Name: Her name is only known by a single letter, "M".
  • Playing with Fire: Her Forward+SP, Meteor Crash, where she shoots fireballs from Humongous.
  • Spin Attack: Her Down+SP, Trash Twirl: she quickly spins around aiming at he opponent with her mace for multiple hits.
  • The Starscream: In her good ending, After accomplishing her task, and having no more Duelists to fight with, she decides to attack Phantom, as she just want to beat someone to a pulp no matter who. Both of them fight to an unseen result.
  • Super Rug-Pull: Her Back+SP, Rubble Crush, and its EX-Special version, Earthquake: She slams the ground with her Humongous with enough force to rip chunks of the ground to strike her opponent with them. Her Hard Style Phantom Break, Tidal Wave, has her ripping even bigger chunks of ground that move in a wave towards the opponent.
  • Taking You with Me: In Battle Grounds, after losing again in Shinjuku, she goes Sore Loser and throws bombs around to blow the team, Cocoa and herself up, all while sporting a Slasher Smile.
  • A Taste of Power: In Battle Grounds, M takes the character's power away after being defeated in the first stage.
  • Warm-Up Boss: Serves as the boss of the Akihabara stage in Battle Grounds, where you can fight her with your infinite level.

    Itsuki Kōno

An 18-year-old waitress working part-time at a maid café. She does not know much of the world and has a gentle personality but a strong sense of justice. She beats opponents over the head with her battle hammer, Maggie.
  • Animal-Eared Headband: The Kemonomimi Costume DLC gives Itsuki bunny ears.
  • Ass Kicks You: One of her dash moves it's a butt attack.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Has blue eyes to match with her blue hair.
  • Ideal Hero: Itsuki's wish is to become an Arbiter of Justice, just like the superhero of a TV Show she used to watch as a kid, someone with power who beats up the bad guys and is loved by everyone... and in the process, gain a bit extra money to help her parents.
  • Magic Skirt: Played with. While this applies to all skirted girls, Itsuki is a justified case, as her jumping animation has her tugging her skirt down.
  • Ninja Maid: A maid who fight for justice using a battle hammer.
  • Riches to Rags: Itsuki used to live a luxurious life and attended a prestigious school, until her family lost everything.
  • Shy Blue-Haired Girl: Itsuki is a shy blue-haired waitress who is at first reluctant on accepting Phantom's proposition to become an Arbiter of Justice, and after giving in, she still acts shy and polite towards other Duelists. However, after learning the truth from Mikoto and Waka, she musters up enough confidence to confront Phantom.
  • Spin Attack: Her Back+SP, Fake Helix, has her jump and spin around aiming at her opponent with Maggie for multiple hits. And her Quick Style Phantom Break, Vapor Typhoon, has her spinning so fast that she actually catches her opponent into a whirlpool.

    Ria Tōjō

A 22-year-old former secretary who finds out that one of the other combatants killed her mother Kureha Tojo, and she is on a quest for revenge. She fights with two Gurkha blades collectively called Aldina.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: She's well-dressed for someone trying to avenge her mother's death.
  • Blade Spam: Her Down+SP, Gatling Slash, where she slashes multiple times in quick succession. Her Quick Style Phantom Break, Killing Artifact, is a faster, more powerful version of this.
  • Cleavage Window: Ria's showing some cleavage with the opening of her suit.
  • Dual Wielding: Her Aldina twin blades.
  • Fragile Speedster: She has quick mobility and decent attack power, but weak defense. She can pressure her opponents with her fast attacks that can wear down defenses and punish guard cancels, but her Double Fang fares poorly against those with better zoning potential and her moves has weak mix ups.
  • Missing Mom: Her mother was murdered and Ria wants revenge.
  • Not So Stoic: The usually calm and collected Ria, after finally getting her mother's murderer, lets loose all the pain she was keeping to herself, and breaks in tears.
  • Revenge: The main reason Ria joins the tournament.
  • Perpetual Frowner: She hardly ever smiles after losing her mother.
  • Spin Attack: Her Back+SP, Spinning Edge, where she jumps ans spins around aiming at her opponent with her Aldina blades for multiple hits.
  • You Killed My Mother: Ria's motive for joining the tournament is to get revenge on her mother Kureha's murderer. Said murdered is implied to be Tokiya, who fought and defeated Kureha in battle one year prior to the events of the game. The real murderer was M, who attacked following Phantom's orders right when Kureha was vulnerable.

    Tokiya Kanzaki

The other male main character in this game. He is the CEO of a pharmaceutical company and he is fighting in order to resurrect his parents, who were assassinated fifteen years ago. He uses a longsword named Setsuna.
  • Blade Spam: His Back+SP, Revolver Slash, where he slashes multiple times in rapid succession.
  • Cool Sword: Tokiya fights with a longsword named Setsuna.
  • Misplaced Retribution: In Ria's bad ending, Tokiya never gets the chance to explain that he didn't kill her mother, or that he never was aware of the shadiest actions of his company. She kills him in a blind rage, presumably not knowing that she got the wrong person.
  • Stone Wall: Tokiya has decent defense and speed, but weak offense. His tools allows him to keep his foes at bay while punishing aerial attacks, but his large hitbox and gaps in his attacks can leave him open for counterattacks.
  • Necromantic: He accepted to become a Duelist to resurrect his parents, and recover his old life.
  • Parental Abandonment: His parents were assassinated fifteen years ago. Now he wants to bring them back.
  • Shock and Awe: Some of his attacks are infused with electricity: His Forward+SP called "Circlet Ignition, its EX-Special variant called "Circlet Lightning", and his Quick Style Phantom Break called "Circlet Maximum", have him summon lightning bolts to strike his opponents down.
  • Young Entrepreneur: Tokiya has taken the role of CEO of Asklay Group, a giant pharmaceutical company, since a very young age after the death of his parents. He's also the director of the hospital where Ren's sister is being taken care of.

    Cocoa

A 16-year-old cosplayer who got bored with the real world and modified her body into an idealized version, based on a video game she liked. Her occupation is cosplaying. She fights with a giant claw called Kusenia’s Claw.
  • Absurdly Sharp Claws: Her weapon, a big red glove with sharp nails called Kusenia’s Claw.
  • Animal Motifs: Bats. Her Transformation Sequence has her surrounded by bats, and her outfit incorporates bat wings and a small bat on the chest.
  • Blade Spam: Her Forward+SP, Stumpfer Flugel, has Cocoa charge towards her opponent clawing and slashing multiple times; her Down+SP, Kursez Messer, is similar, except that Cocoa aims for the feet. Her Quick Style Phantom Break, Undendliche Angst, is an even faster version of Stumpfer Flugel.
  • Cosplay Otaku Girl: Cocoa is an obsessive fan of her favorite video game, Total Dark Ages (Or T-DA for short), and her costume was made similar to Urial, a character from the game.
  • Dual Boss: Along with Onyx. and a second time with M, and a Phantom illusion's gigantic fists.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Her costume includes a frilly, although somewhat ripped gothic-style outfit covered in blood and bandages, and a black ribbon on her head.
  • Flunky Boss: The first Cocoa fight in Battle Grounds looks like it's going to be a straightforward fight as was Shiro-Mikoto. Then a commuter train arrives in the background. Now it's a fight against Cocoa and at least twenty other Mooks.
  • Glass Cannon: She has high offensive power and fast mobility, but very weak defense. Her moveset is built around rushing down and pressuring her opponents with fast, hard-hitting attacks on the ground, but lacks any projectile attacks and next-to-none anti-air capabilities to keep her opponents grounded.
  • Gamer Chick: She's obsessed with a popular MMORPG, her weapon and costume are based off a character of that game called Urial. She also tends to speak using gamer lingo, and her wish is to "update" the world into another T-DA.
  • Heel–Face Turn: In Battle Grounds, Cocoa sides with the Player Character after M attempts to blow all the three of you up.
  • Playing with Fire: Her Back+SP called "Barbarischer Nagel"; If the move connects, Cocoa will catch her opponent in her Kusenia's Claw, and set them on flames.
  • Royal Brat: She has lived a life of luxury and comfort, but she quickly got bored from the lack of challenge, which is why she went into gaming, and eventually, dueling for Phantom.
  • Timed Mission: In Battle Grounds, if you don't defeat Cocoa in time, the commuter train of the background will leave and you will not be able to access the bonus stage that follows.

    Fin

A 9-year-old time traveler from the future who is part of the organization "Schrödinger". She is accompanied by a droid named Mau-chu. Her weapons are all-purpose laser guns named JJ Apple.
  • Attack Drone: Mau-chu counts as this: a flying mouse-shaped drone who follows Fin around, and drops bombs.
  • Curtains Matchthe Window: Has green eyes to match with her green hair.
  • Diving Kick: Her Quick Style Phantom Break, Dimension Kick: She jumps and charges at her opponent with an extremely fast kick.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Hers is incredibly long compared to Mei.
  • Kid from the Future: A 9-year-old time traveler working for the organization known as "Schrödinger".
  • Macross Missile Massacre: Her Down+SP has her firing a flurry of missiles towards her opponent.
  • Misplaced Retribution: Turns out that Fin was sent to the wrong year and, due to her haste to eliminate the Duelists, she inadvertently ended up helping on Phantom's plans. The Phantom Breaker was not supposed to appear yet, and Fin realized she beat up a bunch of innocent people.
  • Morph Weapon: Her JJ Apple gun sometimes transforms into other weapons, like a hammer, or a drill.
  • Power Floats: Her feet never touch the ground.
  • Ray Gun: Fin comes from the future and she's packing with her all-purpose laser guns, JJ Apple, which can fire bombs, has a Tractor Beam, and can morph into other weapons.
  • This Is a Drill: Her Dash+H has her turning JJ Apple into a drill, and pierce through her opponent for multiple hits.
  • Time Police: She's an officer working for the Schrödinger Time-Space Patrol, which manages parallel worlds.
  • Title Drop: Fin makes constant mentions of a "Phantom Breaker", but when she interrogates the Duelists, no one seems to know about it. Not even Waka, who is supposed to know as a member of the Kumon Family, has heard about it, making Fin lament that she was sent to the wrong year.
  • Token Mini-Moe: Fin's easily the youngest and the cutest.
  • Tractor Beam: The main use of JJ Apple is Fin's Forward+SP: if the move connects, Fin will immobilize her opponent into a red beam of light, and slam them hard against the ground.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: Her Hard Style Phantom Break, Chunky Alligator Beam, her Fin summon a cannon shaped as an alligator, and fire a powerful energy beam at her oponent.

    Infinity

He is not one of the main characters but the bodyguard to the mysterious Phantom. He fights using telekinesis.
  • Badass Longcoat: He wears a long, white trenchcoat which he throws off when entering battle.
  • The Dragon: The bodyguard of Phantom.
  • Final Boss: Usually takes up this role in most characters' stories and in Arcade mode, mostly due to his boss Phantom being The Unfought.
    • He also shows up as one in Battle Grounds, confronting the player character to keep them from escaping the collapsing Demonsphere.
  • A God Am I: Arrogant and unapologetic, he sees himself as superior to all humans.
  • Giant Space Flea from Nowhere: In the seventh and final stage of Battle Grounds, Infinity appears as the final boss with no explanation whatsoever other than to stop you from leaving through the exit.
  • Medium Awareness: He seems to know the circumstances behind Kurisu and Rimi's characters. If he defeats Kurisu, he tells her to "Go crawling back to your own world-line!" If he defeats Rimi, he simply says, "You're delusional." Doubles as a Mythology Gag.
  • Mind over Matter: Infinity uses telekinesis as part of his fighting style.
  • Playing with Fire: He has some fire-based attacks on his arsenal.
  • Power Floats: Infinity's feet never touch the ground.
  • Storm of Blades: His fighting style mostly consist on using his telekinesis to summon huge blades from all directions, and attack his opponent with them.
  • Too Many Belts: Just look at them. No doubt they all make him look like a Kingdom Hearts or Guilty Gear character.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: A pale, arrogant white-haired guy who works as Phantom's bodyguard.

    Phantom

The Big Bad of the game and organizer of the Phantom Breaker tournament.
  • Antagonist Title: He's the main villain of the game and has his name on the title.
  • Background Boss: In Battle Grounds, he appears as one of the bosses of stage 4 alongside M and Cocoa, as a giant illusion that only attacks with massive fists from the background.
  • Big Bad: The main auteur of the entire tournament in the game.
  • The Chooser of the One: He's the one who selects the Duelists, also known as Chosen Ones, to give them powers and make them fight on the false promise that the victor will see their wish granted.
  • In the Hood: He wears a hooded cloak.
  • Manipulative Bastard: His modus operandi consists on manipulating others into giving in to their wishes, usually by playing with their emotions or sugarcoating the truth with lies so he can turn them into Duelists, knowing that the more they fight, the more power he gains.

Initially a Palette Swap version of Mikoto from another universe, also known as Mikoto W. She also appears as an unlockable boss character in Battle Grounds, and later as playable in Extra and Omnia.
  • Alternate Self: An alternate version of Mikoto from another universe.
  • BFS: Like Mikoto, she also wields a zweihänder called Maestro.
  • Color-Coded Characters: She wears in all white and is associated to that color, unlike Mikoto, who wears black.
  • Early Game Hell: In Battle Grounds. She will wreck you if you leave yourself wide open to her attacks. She will only ever do three things: Gestrichen into a spike followed by another Gestrichen, Schneidend spam, or, if given the chance, corner poking the hell out of you.

  • Alternate Self: She's the good counterpart of M from another universe.
  • Ambidextrous Sprite: She wears her Eyepatch of Power naturally on her right eye, but it changes to her left eye when facing in the opposite direction. The orientation of her single braid also changes.
  • Big Damn Heroes: In Battle Grounds, she arrives just in time to remove the boulder that blocked the exit of the Demonosphere, and allow the team and Nagi escape before the place collapses on them.
  • Carry a Big Stick: Like M, she also wields a mace made of scrap metal called Humongous.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Like Shiro-Mikoto, her standard attacks don't auto-chain into each other, so her combos need to be inputted manually by mixing up L, M and H. In Omnia, she's locked into Quick Style.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Subverted. While she has pink hair and wears in all pink, she's almost as brash as her evil counterpart.
  • Playing with Fire: Like M, she also has a fire-based attack, her Forward+SP called Meteor Flame, and its EX-Special variant called Volcanic Flame.
  • Promoted to Playable: Just like Shiro-Mikoto, she was an unlockable character in Battle Grounds; however, in Omnia she's a playable character from the get-go.

Waka's sister, who was kidnapped by Phantom to kickstart the events of Battle Grounds. She usually doesn't fight but, when she does...
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: When the group finds her at the end of stage 6, a huge monster suddenly appears behind her, swallows her whole, and spits her immediately afterwards, wielding a katana and talking about destroying Phantom's enemies. She gets better.
  • Damsel in Distress: Her kidnapping by Phantom's minions is what kickstarts the events of the game.
  • Flaming Sword: Every time Nagi slashes with her katana, it emits black flames for extra damage, and her Phantom Break, Kogetsutou, is an immensely powerful slash emitting flames that cover a wider area.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: Nagi's boss battle counts like this given that she's Brainwashed and Crazy.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: Her weapon is a katana that is infused with dark energy, giving her good range.
  • Load-Bearing Boss: Upon defeat, the entire place starts collapsing with no explanation as to how, or why.
  • Power Floats: She doesn't run like the other characters, instead of that, she glides across the floor.
  • Space Master:
    • As a member of the Kumon family, she has the ability to sense space-time distortions, allowihg her to point Waka in the right direction.
    • In Battle Grounds, The katana she uses is draped in evil spirits that give her the power to create space-time distortions. For example, her Forward+SP has her striking an opponent, and suddenly, striking her again from behind.

  • Double Weapon: She wields an artificial F.A. with a twin blade design named Близнецы (Bliznetsy).
  • Gratuitous Russian: She speaks in Russian for some of her dialogues.

  • Cool Sword: Wields a saber named Ouka.
  • Expy: Shizuka bares a striking resemblance to Ikaruga from the Senran Kagura series, from the long dark hair and Hime Cut hairstyle, formal mannerisms, both wielding a sheathable sword and practitioners of iaijutsu style of combat, and wearing a uniform based on Japanese naval officers.
  • Iaijutsu Practitioner: Her fighting style. She focuses on drawing and attacking at lightning-fast speed, then resheathing Ouka after each strike.
  • Lady of War: A graceful and feminine senior officer who fights using a saber, her fighting style is very refined and polished.

Ende is from the Schrödinger Space-Time patrol group and brings a giant robot named Nataku into battle.
  • Agent Peacock: A very feminine-looking young boy who is an agent for an organization of space-time preservation. He has some feminine mannerisms.
  • Attack Reflector: Ende's Back+SP, TYPE-35:ASURA, has Nataku create a shield in front of him. It can reflect projectiles back at his opponent, or stop rushing attacks.
  • Finger Gun: His Forward+M has Nataku imitating a gun with its fingers, and firing a missile.
  • Giant Hands of Doom: His main weapon: an enormous robot hand called Nataku.
  • Grapple Move: His Hard Style Phantom Break, TYPE-16:MIZUCHI: if the move connects, Ende will have Nataku grab his opponent, and mercilessly grind them into the pavement.

  • Came Back Wrong: Rin used the Resurrection Jewel to bring back Gaito to life; however, he became a wild and destructive undead being with no use of reason, so Rin started dueling for Phantom on the promise that he will completely restore him to normal.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: Rin sometimes has trouble following Gaito around, and randomly trips and falls to the ground.
  • Grapple Move: Most of Gaito's moves involve grab his opponent, and slamming them hard into the ground. His Down+SP, Demon Fall, is a chokeslam variant.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: Rin is a 6-year-old girl, while Gaito is a huge undead anti-soul.
