During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. " to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Just cut it with a link to this thread.

Just an empty void…Stengl
Speaking of dragons, I'll have a proposal coming from Skyrim who is a character that when I've searched hasn't come up and judging by the dialogue I'm not sure their possible mitigating qualities are genuine.
Oh, Mr. Kennedy, you entertain me. To show my appreciation, I will help you awaken from your world of clichés.Ryker.
Stengl.

"It's like...a cliff, and if I do it, I'm just gonna...fall." "I think we're already falling."Who's the dragon you're talking about, Flannels?
Google Snake Game.Yes to Stengel.
By the way, I have added a template in Ban-Evader Example Rewrites for candidate re-evaluation here and for MB.
What I mean is, I am essentially making an official back-burner.
Edited by SkyCat32 on Feb 9th 2022 at 8:33:06 AM
I don't think that's necessary. Don't we cut entries and than do new entries for them to ban evaders already.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."My suggestion is that after a candidate is cut, it is added to the pending re-evaluation list, assuming the re-evaluation doesn't happen immediately.
Personally, I feel that re-evaluations for such candidates do not need to be prioritized over other effortposts. Hence, an official back burner from which anyone (preferably trustworthy contributors) can make evaluations would be a good place to keep these candidates.
Pollicut, Benoit, the vampire guy, Reyker Botha and Stengl are all solid keeps. A constellation that only appears every 150 years, bzuh?
Jagin, Pollicut, Prometheus, Benoit, Vitold, Suturer, Botha, Ryker, Wilhem.
I am the one, I am the one, the godlike terror train, superior artificial brain, feel free to call me Blaineto Ryker and Stegle.
to Ryker Grimborn and Wilhelm Stengl.
@SkyCat32: Considering that YMMV examples are also added to that sandbox, I can see ban-evader write-ups being put up on there.
I beat the Arceus post game (sort of). PM me for details.

I'mma wait on my Dragons write-ups until Scrags does his candidate, but in the meantime, here's the rest of my pending:
- Zombie Wars (2007): George is the leader of the Council and a traitor to humanity. To secure his own cushy position of safety and security, George makes a deal with a group of zombies to create a slave breeding camp, where dozens of humans are lured to be used either food or sex slaves for the zombies. When a gang of humans tries to disrupt his operations to create even more camps, George tries to kill them all, and personally executes his own parents after they have been zombified with smug satisfaction at their demises.
- The Living and the Dead by Todd Travis: "Redemption Center" and "Angel at my Shoulder": Jimmy is a despicable old man who self-righteously tries to secure his own salvation by murdering dozens of children and "sending them to God" for judgement. Choosing his victims based on the religions of their families, Jimmy uses a network of agents to gather 13 children at a time who he kills with a butcher knife in God's name, claiming to be out to "save" the kids when in reality, Jimmy only cares about securing himself a position in Heaven.
- Daken: Dark Wolverine: #5: Petrus is a minor agent of Tyger Tiger's who nonetheless establishes a heinous operation for himself. In Tyger's absence from her main base, Petrus converts three entire floors of the headquarters into a brothel that specializes in trafficking dozens of enslaved children as young as ten to wealthy perverts. Not content with merely the sex work of children, Petrus even sells them to the Weapon X program, knowingly sending the kids to be vivisected and butchered by the monstrous Director's scientists so Petrus can line his pockets.
- Tiger & Bunny: "Truth Lies at the Bottom of a Well": Benoit Depardieu has earned himself the title of "the Lady Killer" thanks to his history of sexually assaulting and murdering women, usually after viciously whipping and torturing them with his electrified bullwhip. Having already claimed 9 victims, Benoit's latest attempt at killing a woman is thwarted by the arrival of Kotetsu. In response, Benoit flings his intended target off a rooftop to distract Kotetsu while Benoit flees, immediately hunting for another woman to torture and kill.

WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY!I doubt anyone is going to care but since it's a rule might as well mention it. I will be reserving Nova: Homecoming which is an ongoing fanfic part of a verse I have been getting super invested in, to say the least. And well I am at it I will reserve all the other upcoming ones.

- Hellbinders: Samael is the leader of Legion, who seeks to summon Beelzebub and bring Hell on Earth. Seeking the Book of King Solomon, Samael has Legion possess humans to operate on Earth. After acquiring the book, Samael has his agent the Painter sacrifice people and draw summoning circles with their blood. After a group of heroes band together to stop his plots, Samael uses the possessed innocents as human shields before ordering a group of them slaughtered out of frustration. After having one hero's possessed friend try to kill him, Samael absorbs a horde of souls for a power boost before the final battle.

Welcome to the world of greatest media!for Partridge, Samael, Jagin, Prometheus, Pollicut, Benoit, Vitold, the Suturer, Botha, Ryker, and Stengl.
Thoughts on this quote?
I like it.
Also btw could someone help me with fixing the various Ymmv pages that aren't in the correct.
- Complete Monster: Entry
Format. Their are quite a few now and a mod telling us that wasn't allowed (and is legit not done anywhere else on the site) is pretty weird.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I've Asked the Tropers about that. I know that's how it is especially for TV shows with only a single keeper from one episode, so we'll see.
There's "Character, from [episode title]", but we switched from that way back.
And
- Complete Monster: Episode title: writeup
We'll see what they say in ATT.
EDIT: Fuck, we may need to go back to the old way. Though if that's the case, I think I'll allow extra potholes for episode titles if needed, and the CM pages can probably stay the same (having to change ALL of those back would be a nightmare).

Here, it seems we agreed to cut the Darkling. They were removed from Monster.Literature D To G, but are still under YMMV.The Grisha Trilogy. Should it be removed from the latter or is there a reason it's still there?
