Old Magnificent Bastard thread

Welcome to the Magnificent Bastard proposal thread! This is the thread where new Magnificent Bastard examples are vetted, approved, and written up. If you're looking for the general cleanup thread (for cuts, rewrites, expansions, and the like), please go here

Important: Before suggesting any new examples, please read the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List; if you have any questions, the odds are high they are answered there. Additionally, please check here for the earliest date a work can be discussed (usually two weeks from the U.S. release date) and whether the work has already been reserved by another user.

Here is how the process works:

    Process

  1. If you have a candidate to propose, you can simply come right in and propose them! If the character's run is brief, such as a single issue of a comic book, then a simple summary of their actions and any potential mitigating features will be enough; for longer-running candidates, an effortpost (EP) might be helpful for organizing the proposal. An EP is not outright required, but please be mindful that if a post becomes too clunky and unorganized, it can be very hard for other people to follow.

  2. After the proposal, there will be a 72-hour discussion and voting period, where people may ask questions and vote on the candidate. The number of upvotes must outnumber the downvotes by at least five for the character to be considered "approved".

  3. Three days after the proposal has been made, if the character has been approved, you may post the writeup (the text to be posted on the trope page itself) on the thread and send it to the drafts page. Your candidate will soon be added to the MB subpage. If the work has a page, you should add your candidate to the relevant YMMV page. Voila! It's that simple!

Outside of this process, we do have a few ground rules:

    Ground Rules

  1. To keep the thread moving at a reasonable pace, there are some restrictions on when a proposal can be made. There should only be a maximum of four EPs posted both per page and per hour to ensure that nothing gets lost in the shuffle; additionally, each individual troper should only be proposing or writing up characters from a maximum of three works at a time (from initial proposals to end of their voting period). If your proposal would fall outside of either of these guidelines, we'd like to ask you to please wait until they would fit within; feel free to type them up on an outside document, and then when the time comes, you can just copy, paste, and post!

  2. No plagiarism of any kind. This is a very serious matter site-wide, as the website could get in actual legal trouble over this; as a result, this can very quickly lead to mod intervention. This can take many different forms:
    1. Direct plagiarism, i.e. wholesale copying. This is not only the easiest to find, but is also the most likely to warrant quick moderator intervention. To be clear, quoting in some places is perfectly acceptable, but it has to be very clear you're quoting from something else and it cannot be anything longer than a sentence or two - if you're quoting an entire work summary from Wikipedia, no one is going to believe you've actually consumed the work, so even if you cite your source, your candidate will be downvoted anyway.
    2. Self-plagiarism. Even if you can prove that you wrote the same text in both places, the site itself can't contain any of the duplicated text. If you already wrote something once before, it's not too hard to write it a second time.
    3. Using another site's work as a template for a proposal. Just because you don't copy and paste something directly doesn't mean it's any harder to detect if you're basing parts or all of your proposal on text someone else wrote. To be clear, this doesn't violate site rules and won't lead to mod intervention, but just like if you directly plagiarize, no one will believe you've consumed the work if you're clearly basing your proposal on something else. This thread largely operates on the honor system, and tweaking someone else's work to pass it off as your own is one of the fastest ways to lose trust.

  3. Votes must be for specific candidates, meaning no blanket voting (i.e. "yes to everyone I missed").

  4. If you are the first person to downvote a candidate, please provide an explanation of why when you do so. We're here for discussions above all, and a hit-and-run downvote doesn't facilitate anything.

  5. If a work is already reserved by another user, please don't comment on the work or any potential characters worth discussion before the discussion date. We know how exciting it is when a work has a keeper that you're waiting to talk about, but it's not fair to the person who reserved the work who is just as excited to lead the discussion to see the discussion getting spoiled before they get to do it. On the other hand, if the reservation only has one name attached, shoot them a PM - they may be down for a collaboration, which will get you in on the fun as well!

  6. Please keep the thread on-topic. While discussing the trope is fun and we encourage people to enjoy it, questions like "who's your favorite MB" are off-topic and can lead to thumps. That's the kind of question to take to people's PMs if they're willing. Similarly, while we encourage friendliness and familiarity with other users, posts should always have some kind of thread-relevant purpose; for instance, if you want to wish someone a happy birthday, feel free to, but if it's the only thing in the post, it's off-topic and needs something else alongside it. Again, though, while we strive for a friendly atmosphere, this is not Facebook; life updates are fun, but unless they have some kind of impact on your thread participation, please do not bring it here - we have Yack Fest for that.

  7. Please refrain from asking anything along the lines of "How Did We Miss This One?" In almost every case, the answer is simply "No one thought about it before". This Is a Wiki where everyone has different interests, and the fact that people missed a particular candidate, even one that seems like a textbook example of a trope or a character who is particularly iconic in pop culture, means absolutely nothing. The question is disruptive, has a simple and consistent answer, and provides nothing to any discussion.

  8. If you are suspended from other parts of the website, it is still possible to participate!
    1. For users who are suspended from editing the wiki, you still have full access to this thread. You can propose candidates and write them up with no issues whatsoever; while you will have to ask someone else to post the entry to the relevant pages once it is done, all write-ups are considered thread-approved - as in, done by consensus - and thus doing so does not violate any rules regarding meatpuppeting.
    2. If you are suspended from the forums, your participation is limited but not impossible. It is still possible for a forum-suspended user to assist in creating the write-up for a character who has already been approved; as previously mentioned, write-ups are inherently considered a consensus-based edit and thus not tied to any one particular user. However, you can not assist in the proposal of a character; as a proposal is based around the forum rather than the wiki, doing so with a forum suspension qualifies as meatpuppeting.

  9. Please keep all discussions "in-house".
    1. What other wikis use for MB equivalents is irrelevant here.
    2. Please be wary of using other wikis, Fandom or otherwise, as sources of information. They are just as fallible as a site like Wikipedia in regards to accuracy because they can be edited by any user, just as this site can.
    3. Do not attempt to force a communication with an author in an attempt to gather evidence or settle a debate; besides the fact that this is a YMMV trope and thus author intent has variable weight depending on the circumstance, doing so may cross the line into drama exportation, which is prohibited site-wide.

If you would like to use an EP for your candidate, here's the general format. This format does not have to be followed exactly, but these are the main topics that need to be covered:

    Effortpost Template

What is the work?

This is a brief summary of the work you're going to discuss. We don't need a full plot summary here, just however much we need to understand going into the discussion — it can even be as simple as quoting the summary on the work's page.

Who is the candidate and what have they done?

This is essentially the character's biography — who they are, their story, their goals and methodology, and, preferably (though not required), what happens to the candidate at the end. It does not have to include every single thing they ever do — for some characters, we'd be here all day if that was the case — but it should include the highlights of their journey.

How are they Magnificent?

This is the point where you highlight the character's brilliance. How to they convey their intelligence and charm to the audience? What makes them stand out among the crowd? What are their goals and how do they go about accomplishing them? This part welcomes a lot of creative thinking — not everyone has to be a Machiavellian Diabolical Mastermind to be worth considering here! This is also the time to showcase how the character can think on their feet if it's necessary.

How are they a Bastard? How are they not too bad?

What kinds of moral lines is this character willing to cross for the sake of their goal? Are they willing to let innocents die? Start wars? Commit crimes? The character has to show some kind of unscrupulousness in order to count as a "Bastard". Notably, this character does not necessarily have to be the villain, and an Anti-Hero can cross the line if they're immoral enough, but they have to be immoral somehow.

This is also the section where you then state your case for why they're not too bad. Perhaps their good intentions help mitigate their crimes. Perhaps others are shown to be much worse than them. Perhaps they're prone to Pet the Dog moments or are even fighting on behalf of loved ones. Whatever the case, there are certain lines that an MB can't cross, but as long as their villainy is reasonable for their goal, they can be considered.

Final verdict?

This is where you post your final conclusion on the character in question. You can continue elaborating on your reasons or even just say a simple "yes" or "no"; at this point, we've heard everything we need to hear.

And that's everything you need to know. Welcome to the thread!

Alright so I found this Magnificent Bastard entry on a character sheet. I changed the trope, however I do feel that it is a worthwhile proposal, so here goes. Allow me to introduce to you Doctor Oberon Geller from The Case Of The Golden Idol

What is The Case of the Golden Idol?

The Case of the Golden Idol is a mystery game, where you’re given a still image of a crime and you have to solve what is happening. Think of Return of the Obra Dinn, but as a point and click game. The game is primarily about the problems and mysteries caused by the titular Golden Idol, a magical artifact that allows for Equivalent Exchange and is notably the key to eternal youth, which causes a disastrous chain of events after its discovery by our candidate Oberon Geller.

Who is Oberon Geller?

Oberon Geller is a doctor for the Seven Seas Trading Company. In the base game, he is the first victim we meet, killed years before the events of the actual game. He went on an expedition with Albert Cloudsley, discovered the Golden Idol, and was subsequently murdered by Albert out of his paranoia. However, this is not all there is to Oberon’s story. In the DLC, we see how Oberon obtained the Idol, and it’s here where his magnificence shines.

Oberon is part of a crew sent to the island of Lanka in order to secure trade with its rulers, in spite of the Lemurian delegation trying to halt trade. While there, Oberon gets caught up in research, notably about the Golden Idol. However, the people of the island are very cagey about their secrets, so Oberon learns more about their culture and devises a plan. He sets up a card game and believes that Zubiri Kerra, a Lemurian delegate and someone he's told is skilled at the game, will arrive to take a part. He has Zubiri face Bill Price, who is also exceptionally skilled at the game and has a very bad temper, whereupon Zubiri wins. This causes a series of murders among the players, allowing Oberon to save Zubiri’s life for the purpose of having a debt owed to him to get him one step closer to the Idol. For the sake of the Seven Seas Company, Oberon then manipulates a ritual among two siblings vying for the throne, sending them both encoded instructions telling them where to find poison should they lose the ritual and what to do with it, in order to cause the winner’s death and get the blame put on the Lemurian delegation (though this ultimately fails). He learns of his failure and determines that Zubiri’s father, Yupik, knows the whereabouts of the Golden Idol, and invited him to repay the debt for saving his son's life. Yupik was suspicious of Oberon in the sabotage of the ritual, and so he planned to tell Oberon where the Idol to pay his debt was while also allowing the Spymaster to ambush him during the meeting. However, Oberon had made friends with the Master of Libraries, who sent him an encoded message warning him about the ambush. Before the Spymaster arrives, Oberon forces Yupik at gunpoint to switch places with him and escapes out the front door, killing the lone guard on the way out, and escapes the city. He then goes on to tell Albert about the Golden Idol.

Oberon and Albert go to the Lemurian island, and Oberon tricks the locals into believing he can read minds, convincing them to take him to the Tower where the idol is located. When they arrive, the Idol is already gone, and the person who stole it attempts to kill Oberon and Albert. She’s stopped, but Oberon takes a hostage and forces them to give him the idol, which allows him to flee. Afterwards Albert, fearing that Oberon is growing too powerful, kills him.

Is he magnificent?

I would say yes. Everything that happens in the Spider of Lanka DLC is directly caused by his manipulations. He's so magnificent that it leads to his death, because his manipulations convince Albert that he genuinely does have magical abilities even before obtaining the Idol, and that he must be killed.

Is he a bastard?

Once again, yes. “Everything that happens” includes the murders of eight people, after all, for the sole purpose of obtaining the Idol for the sake of his company. Legitimately every death that happens in the DLC can be laid squarely at Oberon's feet.

Verdict?

I’d say Oberon is a good candidate, personally. Due to the short length of Spider of Lanka, as well as his own very quick death in the main story, we don’t get to see a lot of him. But what little screentime he has, he more than makes up for in how crafty he proves himself to be in each and every appearance.

The whole point of case of the golden idol is that it brings nothing but misery to those who seek it. The fact that he's directly killed as a result of his machinations is not screaming magnificent to me. [tdown] Oberon.

I feel like being killed by your own machinations is something that can be reasonably expected of a Magnificent Bastard, but especially in this scenario where he is killed, not by any of the people he betrays, but someone who has no reason to betray him other than sheer paranoia. I don't feel it's very strange to expect Oberon to not figure out that Albert would kill him, because the reason Albert did it was a very spur of the moment "Oberon is too dangerous, wait he can read my mind I have to kill him now he knows I'm going to betray him", meanwhile Oberon is just chilling out looking through his spyglass. I don't think that any reasonably intelligent person could figure that out. He expected Albert to be more rational than he was, and Albert is fairly rational until that moment

  • Like a Dragon: Ishin!: Kondo Isami is the cunning chief of the Shinsengumi. He plans to move the Emperor of Japan and the country's capital from Kyo to Edo by setting fire to Kyo so that the Tosa Loyalists have less power. When Sakamoto hears of his plans and rejects taking part, Kondo baits him into fighting him by implying he may be the man who killed his adoptive father. When Sakamoto Ryoma's impostor attempts to spark a civil war by taking advantage of the Satcho Alliance, after the real Ryoma suggests to get the Bafuku themselves to surrender, Kondo writes a letter intended for the shogun containing his ideas for a Great Restoration, which he eventually receives, agrees to and accepts. When Kondo is fatally attacked by Loyalist Okada Izo in his party's plan to frame him for killing the Emperor, which would cause a civil war, Kondo initiates his "final move", which is to have his deputy chief Hijikata Toshizo host a meeting in the Shinsengumi, in which Ito Kashitaro, whose intentions of wanting to become the next chief by any means necessary are as clear as day, outs himself by accidentally revealing he was aware that Kondo was murdered. After this, it is revealed that Kondo further outplayed Ito by having Todo Heisuke get close to Ito in order to find out what his true motivations are and who it is he is affiliated with, which ends up being Ryoma's impostor, who plans to have a meeting with Saigo Kichinosuke of the Satsuma Domain and Katsura Kogoro of the Choshu Loyalists, meaning that Ryoma and his allies know of all the players all thanks to Kondo's planning.

This is probably too long for Kondo's write up, but I also wanted to include his smartest actions and the context behind them. Any ideas on how to shorten it? Also I couldn't think of a pothole to give him.

Alrighty, here we go another candidate from our favorite open sandbox game. Here we go.

What’s The Work?

Grand Theft Auto is a open world sandbox game created by Rockstar Games, and best known for it’s violence as you take the role of a ruthless criminal working their way up the organized crime ladder. The game has spawned five main games, 6 side games, 4 DL Cs, a online expansion pack and a sixth game on the way.

Right now we’ll be talking about Grand Theft Auto IV’s more Denser and Wackier expansion game, The Ballad of Gay Tony, where we play as a former drug dealer and now personal businessman Luis Fernando Lopez, who is now the bodyguard and friend of habitual drug addict and club owner “Gay” Tony Prince. The duo are now forced to deal with goons and mobs alike as they attempts to keep their business afloat.

But currently, our candidate is our very own protagonist, Luis Lopez.

Who is Luis Lopez?

A Dominican-Latino born in Liberty City, Luis lived with his older brother and sister and raised by his single mother after his father, a military man, abandoned the family. Luis grew up with a rough upbringing, becoming a gangster in Northwood Dominican Drug Gang, alongside his best friends Armando and Enrique. Luis frequently went to juvie, first went there after shooting a teacher for sexually assaulting his sister, and then after taking the fall for Grand Theft Auto his friends committed, and he proceeded to become much more athletic to fight back against others in prison.

When Luis is 22, he meets “Gay” Tony and becomes his personal bodyguard and business partner in Maisonette 9 nightclub. Gaining a friendship with Tony and deciding to turn his life around, Luis cuts off contact with his gang (apart from his two friends) and starts cleaning himself up. Unfortunately, Gay Tony’s drug spiral and debts to keep his business afloat leads to Luis having to help him out.

What Does He Do?

Luis has been acting as the collected and intelligent member Tony’s business, making sure Tony gets out of trouble as he also helps out Armando and Enrique during their drug dealings. In order to pay off Tony’s debts, Luis works for Ancelotti mobsters Rocco Pelosi, as well as Mori Kibbutz in several jobs, which includes interrogating a guy by hitting him with golf clubs (yes, really), seducing the wife of a club owner and killing rival dealers. Luis also begins to work with Yusif Amir, a real estate entrepreneur who wants to buy Tony Clubs. On Yusif’s orders, Luis manages to pull off frankly ridiculous heists, stealing a helicopter to kill off a group of Arms Dealers, stealing a armored tank and stealing a whole ass Subway Train with a helicopter.

After managing to settle things with Mori by winning a race around Liberty City, Luis plans diamonds worth 2 million dollars to pay off Tony’s debts. However, the deal is botched by Johnny Klebetz and his band of The Lost Boys which kills Tony’s boyfriend and drug supplier Evan. Luis manages to track down the diamonds and ambushes both Jonny, the Jewish Mob and Niko Bellic, getting the diamonds back.

At this time, Luis begins working with Ray Bulgarin, Russian Crime Lord and Greater-Scope Villain of the fourth Game, managing to kill a whole group of corrupt cops and a businessman to ensure Ray gets rights to a sports team. However, Ray betrays Luis when revealing that the diamonds were his property, and sets him up for an ambush which involves snipers and helicopters. Luis manages to survive and warn Tony that Ray is now after them. After this, Luis and Tony are ordered by the Ancelotti family to give the diamonds to Niko Bellic to rescue Gracie, the don’s daughter and the best friend of Tony. Luis manages to calm the situation and rescue Gracie with trading of the diamonds, but Ray Bulgarin intercepts and steals the diamonds back as Luis and Tony escape with Gracie.

Luis is confronted by Rocco and is ordered to kill Tony, saying that both of them will be killed by Ray. Luis seems initially ready to kill Tony, before going back on his promise and instead killing Rocco’s uncle Vince as he decides to stay fighting with Tony. Having Tony hide out in the park, Luis confronts Ray’s men who are setting up a heroin operation. Completely on his own, Luis manages to wipe out the entire operation, killing off all of Ray’s men as he chases the crime lord onto a private jet. Confronting Ray Bulgarin, and despite being threatened with a grenade, Luis kills Ray and jumps out the plane as it explodes, parachuting right into the park. Meeting back up with Tony, the two forge back their friendship and walk into the sunset with Yusif, deciding to reopen their business, as the Diamond are found by a homeless man.

Is He Magnificent?

Luis is the most calm, collected and badass protagonists in the franchise, by far. The dude acts as The Only Sane Man towards Tony and his friends as well as the criminal in general, and manages to constantly get himself and them out of bad situations without so much as breaking a sweat. Luis manages to also to pull of impressive feats almost on his own, from stealing helicopters, train carts and tanks to ambushing a deal to steal some diamonds. Luis also manages to show an ability to keep a cool head, managing to prevent a breakdown during negations to get Gracie back. And in the end, Luis manages to completely destroy

And beyond that, Luis is both extremely polite, deeply cares for and respects his family, especially his mother, is a extremely good charmer and a Casanova with women, and shows to still wish to be kept on the straight and narrow and do his businesses as legit as possible.

Is He A Bastard?

Don’t let anything fool you, Luis is still a GTA protagonist. He is willing to get his hands dirty, assaulting, robbing, committing grand heists and even killing others, though he shows an unwillingness to go too far. Most of crimes are to bail out his friends and clear their debts or to fight againts worst individuals, definitely making him into A Lighter Shade of Black compare to the Ax-Crazy Bulgarin, and Smug Snake Rocco and Mori.

Any Other Issues?

Not really no. Luis manages to keep himself from suffering the issues other GTA protagonists have. He’s not a demented sociopath like Claude, Toni or Trevor, he’s not a Butt-Monkey like CJ, lacks any man child tendencies like Micheal De Santa or is become broken or unceremoniously killed off like Johnny or Vic. He’s also the most chillest and friendly character, and is more of an Anti-Hero compared to the rest. Despite being mocked occasionally (such as by his friends for being a Category Traitor) and having a small temper at times, Luis manages to keep his attitude in check and none of it hinderes his abilities or magnificence.

Verdict?

Yes to Luis

Keep Fighting. Keep Loving.

Sorry for the wait y'all! How's this write-up for Robbie Rotten look?

"Big Iron but The Ranger goes to Lazy Town to kill Robbie Rotten": Robbie Rotten is both smarter and deadlier than in canon. When the Arizona Ranger with the titular Big Iron comes into Lazy Town, Robbie announces his plan to catch him on the run, saying "Look at this net that I just found," knowing word would spread to the Ranger. When the inevitable duel comes, the Ranger is so prepared for Robbie's net that he fails to notice the banana peel Robbie had laid in the street, breaking his hip and killing him. Emerging victorious, Robbie proves why he's "Villain Number One."

Yes to Luis. If the entire point of the Golden Idol is that everyone tempted by it is doomed, I'm leaning no on Oberon, even if his downfall is ultimately due to extenuating circumstances.

What's the work?

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated is one of the most beloved entries in the Scooby-Doo franchise, and one decidedly darker than the usual fare. Scraggle got Mayor Jones up a while back, but mir and I decided to look through the rest of the series.

To simplify the plot: the Mystery Inc we know and love is but one of a long line of mystery solving teams that have existed throughout the centuries, each starting out with good intentions before they're driven mad and twisted against each other by the greatest mystery of all: an ancient, cursed treasure hidden beneath the town of Crystal Cove.

The previous Mystery Inc before our intrepid heroes are the main antagonists for most of the series, manipulating the gang to their own ends—and often against each other, as they've all grown into bitter rivals who have been consumed by the curse and would happily kill their old friends to get their hands on the treasure. The most prominent of the old gang are the prior versions of Shaggy and Scooby, Mr. E and his pet bird Professor Pericles. Mr. E spends most of season 1 sending clues to the new Mystery Inc so as to manipulate them, though sometimes he gets a bit more overt about it. Which brings us to:

Who is Alice May?

The daughter of their old foe the Creeper, Alice May swore revenge on Mystery Inc when her father died in prison. Taking inspiration from the legend of the Ghost Girl, a phantom who has allegedly kidnapped countless young teens on prom throughout the decades, she modified his costume to create her own monster disguise and began planning to strike out against the Scooby gang. First, she kidnapped a completely unrelated kid to throw everyone off the scent—either convincing the idiot townsfolk that there was a real Ghost Girl around, or dismissing herself from suspicion in the eyes of the smart people since she has no reason whatsoever to go after this kid. After that, she goes to Mystery Inc's school as a new student and seduces Fred, intent on stealing him away as the Ghost Girl to break the gang apart. Of course, she gets captured, but as she's carted away, the gang find a mysterious yearbook in her backpack.

...Which was the entire point of this escapade. Turns out, the Creeper never had any kids. "Alice May" is, in fact, what appears to be a teenage mercenary—or at least some type of for-hire con artist—who was employed by Mr. E as part of an unnecessarily complicated plot to give the new Mystery Inc a clue about their predecessor's disappearance. While they were distracted by this Ghost Girl stuff, she could spend time looking for the old yearbook in the school, then leave it behind for them once she's arrested. All that other stuff—even kidnapping that one other guy for her cover story—was itself another cover story. Alice May is confused by why this all needed to be so convoluted, but Mr. E gets her out of jail, so she doesn't question any further.

She makes her return in the penultimate episode of season 1. Mr. E seeks to draw out Pericles, and to do so he decides to put the gang at risk, since Pericles still needs them for his own schemes. Alice May is outfitted with a bunch of advanced weaponry—lasers, cloaking, Hammerspace—and begins chasing the gang as a ghost assassin. As part of this hunt, she fakes the destruction of the Mystery Machine, then allows them to track where she hid the real van in order to ambush them, even hiding within the van with her invisibility to quickly strike at them. Alice May escapes a trap they hastily put together and confronts them all again at an abandoned church, once again evading a trap and subduing all of them. Fortunately, the Velma counterpart and Token Good Teammate of the original Mystery Inc intervenes. She's a badass ninja herself, and incapacitates Alice May after an awesome fight scene.

She makes two cameos in season 2, but nothing real substantial happens with her in those.

Mitigating factors?

Probably the easiest keep aside from Mayor Jones. She plays everyone for fools in her first episode, then returns as a total badass who gets an awesome ninja fight scene. The whole Ghost Girl thing may have been planned out by Mr. E, but she has her own additions to sell the story to the gang—kidnapping that other guy to make it look like she was playing into the usual "villain tries to make people believe the monster is real" shtick, then chasing them to the crypt she keeps parts of the Creeper costume in so they'll buy into the idea she's his daughter. Her second appearance is even better, tactically ambushing them multiple times and ultimately only being stopped by another badass ninja.

[up][up] There's nothing in the game that establishes that the Idol is a cursed artifact. Everyone who obtains it DOES meet with misfortune, but there aren't any legends about it being cursed or bringing misfortune, and its primary owner in the base game lives a very long time before he finally dies. It's basically just a really powerful piece of technology from an ancient advanced civilization. All of the death that happens around the Idol is incidental, either as a result of people trying to take it from other people or from people testing its capabilities and seeing what it can do.

Robbie's write-up looks good, though in what page should it exactly go? My best guess would be in the crossover section for Fan Works.

Switching to yes for Oberon if the artifact doesn't doom everyone it comes into contact with.

[up][up][up] I'm afraid I wouldn't know how to cut down the writeup any, but you could put Master Swordsman for his name.
