Since we have a thread for improving the descriptions for tropes, I thought I would make one for improving descriptions for works. This is also a good place for requesting creator page cleaning.
Here are some common problems with many work descriptions:
- Over-analytical Walls of Text: Many works that have a high Troper Critical Mass have egregiously long descriptions, and could use some trimming, possibly moving some of it to the Analysis page.
- Critical reception/audience reaction cruft: "Edit Tip #12: We are not interested in whether or not something is or was popular. Whether or not it was liked has nothing to do with tropes." In other words, work descriptions should not contain paragraphs nor any mention at all about how the work was received. Zap it.
- Editorialism: A similar issue to the above, some tropers have a tendency to try to sneak stealth reviews into works' descriptions. This is obvious deletion fodder - Kill It with Fire.
- Plagiarism: Copy-pasted text from another source, such as Wikipedia.
So just post any work or creator page descriptions that are in need of cleanup and we'll see what we can do.

Evil Dead (2013)‘s description summarizes the entire plot.
back lolAdult World has only one sentence for a page description.
Neverwhere page description only talks about the work's production and adaptations, but doesn't the work's plot or what it's about.
10,000 BC's page description is a bit too long, as it essentially summaries the entire plot.
Superfriends's page description is rather long, complainy and consisting of a lot of Walls of Text.
I found Dropmix, and the description feels kinda off to me. It mentions the game's name an awful lot, sometimes with Wiki Words that result in a lot of Linking to an Article Within the Article (which is easy to fix, thankfully). It also goes into great detail in describing the physical characteristics of the device used to play the game. Finally, there's a link to a site that lets you create fake Dropmix cards, which isn't really relevant (especially since they apparently don't even work with the game?).
The page description for Jango Fett: Open Seasons doesn't describe anything about the plot of the work.
The page for Sonic the Hedgehog links to our forum thread for it. That's not kosher, right?
SoundCloudI don't think it is.
Fryderyk Chopin has a completely random link to a Pokémon fanfic hidden in the note about how to pronounce his name. It was added in 2018 by OPALGARNET16, who is probably the fanfic's author or at the very least only joined the wiki to entry pimp it if their name is any indication. Can I remove the pothole?
Creator.Bette Midler doesn't list any of her post-high school achievements in the introduction; should someone expand it?
I removed the pothole. Doubt it was anything more than an Entry Pimp. Even if it made sense in the context of the fanfic, those kind of jokes shouldn't be in a description about real life people.
Theodore Rex treats it as Snark Bait.
- Say, would you like to see a direct-to video sci-fi movie that is a loose ripoff of Blade Runner, except it stars Whoopi Goldberg and Barney? You wouldn't? Oh... well, TOO BAD, they made one!
Goldberg only completed the movie because New Line Cinema threatened to sue her if she walked off the film (after seeing Kim Basinger get sued into bankruptcy after the fiasco that was Boxing Helena, she decided she could live with the shame if it meant keeping the lights on). Theodore Rex was initially intended as a theatrical release but went straight to home video instead, making it the most expensive direct-to-video picture of the pre-streaming age. That's certainly something to keep in mind if you dare to watch it.
You know that Super Mario Bros movie? Theodore Rex is very similar, and arguably even stranger.
According to an Opening Scroll, the story is set in a Dark and Edgy Cyberpunk city "A long time ago in the future" (really), where humans coexist with anthropomorphic dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals that have been resurrected and genetically modified by well-known billionaire and scientist Elizar Kane. It's esentially a buddy cop movie with dinosaurs. Theodore is an anthro Tyrannosaurus Rex who wants to be a cop. He gets his chance when he is partnered with Katie Coltrane (Goldberg) to solve another the murder of another anthro T.rex named Oliver.
Then things get weirder.
An extensive review, with links to other reviews, can be found here. While the film isn't the best quality, the confusion and sheer randomness of the onscreen action is actually kind of impressive. Just when you think the movie can't get any more insane... it does. It really does. That helps it stand alongside Santa Claus (1959), Manos: The Hands of Fate, Birdemic and The Room on the very thin border between So Bad, It's Good and So Bad It's Horrible.
Compare Howard the Duck. Not to be confused with a notable biography of Theodore Roosevelt. Not to be confused with Anonymous Rex, which is a book series that, coincidentally, is about a dinosaur detective solving crimes amongst humans.
Poseidon's page description doesn't mention anything about the film's plot.
The page description for The Seeker doesn't talk about the film's plot.
Dinosaur Comics has no written description at all, only a self-demonstrating image.

That's the joke.
back lolI understand, but I don't think it is desirable.
Narita Boy's description appears to be copied from the game's website, and as a result is extremely incoherent.

I recently performed more editing on the top of Creator.Pedro Pascal, most notably moving some Game of Thrones trivia to Trivia.Game Of Thrones. Does it look unusual, or understandable, that paragraph #3 runs longer than the first two?
Looks about the same to me.
Yesterday I overhauled Franchise.Ghost In The Shell to be more concise. It was previously discussed here.
I just noticed sunnyseviper stretching the installment list on Trails Series, listing every platform each game has been on, alternate names in English and Japanese for each installment (including some of which that are not official in any capacity), and the release dates for each installment on each platform. The inclusion of links to the various platforms also catches them in the index that page holds its installments in. That's not ok, is it?
SoundCloudI did something I've been meaning to do for a while now: whittling down the description of The Angry Video Game Nerd page. Y'see, this is one the older pages on the site, and whoever launched the page back in 2006 or so started it with, essentially, a "cold open":
But it also produced some real stinkers, and that's where the Angry Video Game Nerd comes in.
Once formatting rules got more strict, a properly formatted introduction was added, but the cold open for whatever reason wasn't removed and was just shoved down, completely blunting its effectiveness as well as causing redundant information (as people would add more info to the introduction without noticing it was already there). Plus, the NES hasn't been the Nerd's specialty for a long time.
So I took a scalpel to it, rearranged some things, changed tenses that made decade-old things seem "recent" or even "upcoming", and trimmed down some of the external stuff (I don't think a complete list of every collaboration with Doug Walker is necessary, at least not there). The description is still a bit on the long side in my opinion, but I don't think anything vital was cut. If I overstepped, let me know and I'll revert.

I want to call for attention for my previous post again; another troper independently came to the same conclusion that the bloat on Trails Series is cluttered-looking and distracting. Which parts should be removed to bring it back in line?

Should we be more neutral and less referential for Literature.Codex Alera?
A.k.a not mentioning Avatar, The Dresden Files, and not calling it Awesome?
