Trivia / Guardians of the Galaxy (2015)

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: When shown the show's official soundtrack by a fan on social media, James Gunn (who directed the movies) said that he "Wasn't a fan" of the choices.
  • International Coproduction: Not the show itself, but the Latin American-Spanish dub, while show mostly with Mexican voice actors but share with Argentinian voice actors who have also done the most parts in series like Ultimate Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. (in fact, all the show share Mexican actors in later seasons).
  • Ink-Suit Actor: J'son looks almost exactly like Jonathan Frakes.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Vanessa Marshall replaces Nika Futterman and Laura Bailey as Gamora, despite Nika coming back later as Angela. She also replaces Cree Summer as Meredith Quill.
      • Vanessa found herself on the other side of this, being replaced as Hela by Kari Wahlgren in the season 3 finale.
    • Jonathan Adams replaces James C. Mathis III as Ronan.
    • Despite voicing Rhomann Dey, Jeff Bennett is replaced as the Collector and Grandmaster by, respectively, Tom Kenny and Jason Spisak. It's especially noticeable given that the Contest of Champions arc is being adapted in Ultimate Spider-Man at the same time the early episodes of this series are airing: in what is thought of as a linked universe, you're watching them in one show, and then hearing them sound very different in a show that airs the same day.
    • Also, though his new portrayal has spread to the other shows, Will Friedle replaces Chris Cox as Star-Lord, making him sound very different from what viewers of Ultimate Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble, and/or Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. were used to.
    • James Urbaniak replaces RenĂ© Auberjonois as Ebony Maw.
    • Averted in the Mexican dub. All characters have same voice actors as in the movie, with exception of Ronan the Accuser (Eduardo Fonseca replace Rubén Moya).
    • Ditto in the Japanese dub, with the sole exception of Rocket Raccoon's voice actor, who went from Kouji Kato to Setsuji Sato.
    • Ditto the Brazilian dub. At most, the Black Order have different voices once they appear.
    • Mick Wingert replaces Adrian Pasdar as Iron Man in the crossover with Avengers Assemble, which will carry on in Secret Wars.
    • Grey DeLisle voiced Tana on Ultimate Spider-Man. In this series, she's voiced by Jessica DiCicco.
    • Nolan North replaces Corey Burton as the High Evolutionary.
  • Shout-Out \ Actor Allusion: This show rewrites Drax's backstory to make him a former arena fighter, like the man who portrays him in the movies, Dave Bautista}.
  • Schedule Slip: The first half of season 3 finished on April 29, 2018. The second half premieres on May 5, 2019, which is over 1 year later.
  • Screwed by the Network: In addition to the above mentioned schedule slip, reruns have been greatly reducing. It's only airtime is on Sunday mornings, and even then, not every Sunday, and mostly just for new episodes.
    • When the show came back for the second half of season 3, new episodes moved to Sunday nights at 9:30 pm .
  • Word of God: According to Marvel Animation producer Harrison Wilcox, the show is only canon with Marvel's Spider-Man despite before being said to be canon with Ultimate Spider-Man (2012) but set chronologically before it. However he also said that some events of the first two seasons were still sort of canon to the latter show's history.
  • Writtenby Cast Member: The 2nd part of the Black Vortex arc is written by Trevor Devall (voice of Rocket Raccoon and other characters)
