  • Glitter: During Billie's rise to stardom, she was set to be the musical guest of the Saturday Night Live-like variety show, only to leave the set moments before her performance due to her boyfriend, Dice, getting himself arrested.
  • Nope: Early on, Jupe talks about a brutal incident from his days as a child actor, in which the chimpanzee costar of a sitcom he was on went savage (killing his onscreen parents and mauling his onscreen sister's face), and that it was parodied on SNL with Chris Kattan as the chimpanzee.

Literature

  • Dogs Don't Talk: Back when Ben's mom wanted to be an actress, she once auditioned for Saturday Night Live. She didn't get it.

Live-Action Television

  • The Americans: In the third season episode "Stingers", Henry does Eddie Murphy's "Mister Robinson's Neighborhood" routine for his parents.
  • In Friends, Phoebe called Monica with Wild Hair caused by humidity "Roseanne Roseannadanna", and wrapped a fake award acceptance speech with "Live from New York, It's Saturday Night!"
  • The Golden Girls: The second part of the "Home Again, Rose" two-parter has Rose, who's about to undergo open-heart surgery, whisper to her daughter, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!"
  • Jeopardy! occasionally based its categories off of the ones from the Celebrity Jeopardy skits—"The Number After 2", "Things You Shouldn't Put In Your Mouth", "What Color Is Green?", etc.
  • Married... with Children: In the "A Man For No Seasons" episode, a newscaster states that "Baseball is on strike, football is on strike and Saturday Night Live just won't end!"note 
  • Michael Bolton's Big, Sexy Valentine's Day Special features a Softer and Slower Cover of "Jack Sparrow", Michael Bolton and The Lonely Island's collaboration which debuted as an SNL Digital Short.
  • The Office (US): Michael Scott is a big fan of the show, adopting his "That's What She Said!" catchphrase from the Wayne's World sketches, referencing "Jane, you ignorant slut!" in one episode, and dressing as MacGruber one Halloween.

Western Animation

  • The Critic episode "Lady Hawke" has a spoof of Saturday Night Live titled Yesterday Night Live, where Jeremy appears in the fictional show's episode as host. The show also features the Not Good Enough For Feature Film Players, a spoof of the Not Ready for Primetime Players. One of the actors, a fat guy based on John Belushi and Chris Farley, plays a sketch character called Mr. Sweaty Guy. Marty also points out one of YNL's actors, Jon Lovitz (a former SNL actor who also voices Jay Sherman).
  • The Family Guy episode "Don't Make Me Over" has Meg and her family make a guest appearance on Saturday Night Live during the third act as musical guests in an episode hosted by Jimmy Fallon, with whom Meg has sex with, which turns out to be a part of an opening sketch much to Meg's embarrassment. The end of the episode parodies the end sequence of the show which segues into Showtime at the Apollo before Brian turns the TV off. During the episode, Peter mentions the possiblity of meeting John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Phil Hartman, Chris Farley and Horatio Sanz, all of whom are dead except for Sanz.
  • The Rick and Morty episode "Rixty Minutes" has an alternate universe version of Saturday Night Live, whose cast members include a piece of toast, a bunch of aliens, a man painted silver who makes robot noises, and Bobby Moynihan, who has been a cast member for 25 years in the version that Rick and Morty watch, and hates the piece of toast due to creative differences.
  • The Simpsons episode "Brother From the Same Planet" has a spoof of Saturday Night Live titled Tuesday Night Live, where Krusty appears as the host of the show that Bart watches, and says that the last half-hour is not very good, and Bart laments that he misses Joe Piscopo.
  • An episode of Tiny Toon Adventures is entitled "Weekday Afternoon Live", complete with a live audience and featuring special guest star Blard Simpleton.
