Warning: Spoilers Off applies to Funny pages.

In general

  • Randy Orlando's voice acting, in versions featuring it, makes his already great dialogue even more hilarious. Shin-ichiro Miki knocks it out of the park during Randy's goofier moments.

Trails from Zero

  • The SSS' first journey to Armorica Village. They missed the bus, and because the next bus arrives two hours later, Tio proposes that they make the journey on foot instead, and before long she and Elie excitedly chatter away on what they think is going to be a hiking trip... While Lloyd and Randy realize that the two girls have never walked far on a highway before. Sure enough, when they reach an intersection, Elie and Tio are already lagging behind, clearly winded, and if you examine the bus stop here Lloyd will remark that both Elie and Tio are clearly regretting their choice. When they reach the rest area, the girls are even slower, and when they see the bus making the return trip Tio almost flags it so she can return to the city.
  • Lloyd's reunion with Cecile after three years is hilarious because she thought he's coming to the hospital to have fun with his girlfriends, before asking Lloyd who he's dating: Elie, Tio, or both at once. When he denies it, she assumes he's going out with Randy, which leads him to retort that he doesn't swing that way. The cherry on top is Randy saying he doesn't mind to try if it'd make Cecile happy.
  • The SSS first meeting with Ilya. The moment she recognizes Lloyd as Cecile's little brother, she just immediately hugs him in her dancer outfit, which prompts a surprised reaction from everyone in the room (with Randy fuming on the little brother archetype reigning supreme). Afterward, Ilya teases Lloyd that he must have liked it despite being embarrassed, and Lloyd doesn't disagree.
  • The morning after Lloyd and Elie's talk on the roof, Randy and Tio suspect that something's afoot as Elie's back to her usual self and is having a really good time talking with Lloyd. After Randy remembers hearing noises from the roof, Tio congratulates them both, and Randy teasingly asks Lloyd how far did he go with Elie, with Elie being embarrassed not because of the misunderstanding, but because Tio is there with them as they're talking about this. Then Lloyd, in his haste to deny it, said that he's not really compatible with Elie and that them having a relationship is just not possible, which angers Elie, and when he tries to backpedal he only makes the situation worse, with Tio and Randy cringing as it's happening. It ends with a line that aptly summarizes the whole thing:
    Lloyd: I'm sorry.
  • When the SSS first met Mariabell not long after the incident above, Randy mentioned the roof incident off-handedly when she was already unimpressed with Lloyd, which led to her choking Lloyd to the air with a single hand. When Lloyd asks Elie to help clear the misunderstanding, Elie just stays silent with a slight blush on her face, obviously still peeved from his earlier missteps in the morning, and it's hilarious.
  • At the beginning of Chapter 3, the Seeker sisters find Lloyd alone outside of Arc-en-Ciel's theatre, and after misunderstanding that he just gets dumped by a girl (while in truth he refuses Cecile's invitation to come with her to Ilya's place), drags him along with them to the Harbor District to watch a concert, with Noel and Fran practically invoking the A Lady on Each Arm trope. And while Lloyd has a feeling there's a misunderstanding going on, he doesn't really try to fight the situation either.
  • After Lloyd and Randy had their heart-to-heart talk after the race, Elie and Tio came back just as Randy was patting Lloyd's head. Tio proceeds to ask if Elie is jealous, with Elie denying it because they're both boys. But then Tio remarked that the genre is pretty popular, and what just happened can be seen as a flag being set off, and Randy jokingly apologizes to Elie while quipping that love is a battlefield. Poor Lloyd just can't catch a break.
  • At the end of Chapter 2, Lloyd and Dudley chase the culprit out of the theater, where Randy and Tio are ready to block their escape. When the former two catch up, Tio asks why Lloyd is accompanied by "Mr. Glasses Wearin' Dick".
Dudley: E-excuse me?! I do hope you mean "detective" by that!
    • It's even more hilarious when you realize that Tio most likely learned that insult from Randy.
  • Lechter's long string of Refuge in Audacity moments in Chapter 3. In particular, he goes to a fancy party as a Hawaiian-Shirted Tourist, then skips out on the fancy party to go fishing... in his host's ornamental pond. He then feeds his host's fish to his host's cat, whom he's decided to rename. Later, when all hell has broken loose, he uses that same cat and Exact Words to hide your party from some rather angry Mafia thugs while making it sound like he is going to turn you over to them. Also, when the SSS first meets him, he gives two conflicting stories as to his history and purpose, one of which is the truth, albeit lacking the details. He then claims that he has the SSS surrounded and they're all going to die, only to then laugh uproariously when they buy his story hook, line, and sinker.
  • The entire scene that starts when bringing KeA to St. Ursula, with Cecile immediately assuming she's Lloyd's daughter and getting upset at his 'betrayal'. It takes Lloyd a few minutes to get through to her that there's no possible way he could have a daughter. Whoever is your partner at the time will lampshade Cecile's weakness where Lloyd is concerned.
    • Even better, if Elie or Tio is your partner, Cecile will ask if they're the mother as well. Tio's deadpan reaction is to remind Cecile that she's 14 years old.
  • The entire quest involving Anton and Fran in Zero is one of these, in large part because Noel is in your party at the time. During the date with Fran, at the end as Anton gives her the present he asks if she has a boyfriend. She says she doesn't but there's someone that she loves. The music stops, then the game over music plays, in a moment of Crowning Music of Funny. After he leaves, her overprotective older sister Noel runs up to her and demands to know who this person is and if it's Lloyd or Randy. As it turns out the person she was talking about was Noel.
    • The drama CD version takes this up to eleven with Noel proposing increasingly unlikely candidates for Fran's special someone. She finally stops after she reaches Zeit. Then the scene ends with Fran declaring that if she can't marry Noel, she'll never get married until Noel does, met with mass presumed facepalming from everyone else present.
  • During Tio's IBC event, Lloyd muses on how it took Guy forever to notice what Cecile felt about him and that sometimes he felt like kicking his brother to make him realize what was right in front of him. Upon hearing this, Tio immediately kicks Lloyd.
  • The Special Support Section is tasked with a minor quest involving getting overdue library books back from people, one of whom is Detective Raymond of the CPD, who has the book Prominent Female Figures. He got it thinking it was a book full of hot chicks... instead, it's about important women from history.
  • Chest phrases are back in the English localization! However, the first two or three treasure chests you encounter have simply the message "The chest is empty." The first actual phrase reads "The chest is empty ...Hah! Got you! You thought we forgot, huh? Hahaha, you should see the look on your face!"
  • This chest phrase, lampshading a graphical error in the game: "AHH! Goddess, it hurts! The grass is clipping right through me!"
  • One of the chests in Ancient Battlefield - Underground Passage says "You need the 'More Chest Messages' DLC to view this message."
  • One of the attendants at the entrance to Mishelam Wonderland states that there's only one Mishy in the world.
Lloyd: (Hmm, they must have really carefully scheduled shifts to pull that off...)
Tio: (Please do not speak such heresy.)
    Lloyd: (S-Sorry.)
  • During the KeA intermission, the maid Sammie states she wonders where Ilya lives and that she'd follow her to the ends of the Earth if she found her address. As she is saying this, she is standing just a few feet from the door to Ilya's apartment in the Villa-Raisins.
Lloyd: (I guess she hasn't realized about Ilya yet...fortunately.)
  • If Tio has the highest affinity with Lloyd at the start of the fourth day of Chapter 3, she will be the character that wakes Lloyd up because he's sleeping late. Unfortunately, as she's never had to do this before, she's not quite sure how, so her solution is to cast a low level Diamond Dust spell at his neck after nudging him fails. He tells her that next time he'd recommend raising her voice as a step between nudging him and casting ice attacks.

Trails to Azure

  • The monster chest containing the Level 85 Orgone Spiders in the Old Mine has a hilarious "Trails" version on a very NSFW meme.
Oh these? My looties? My massive hecking quartzies? My space-bending, wind-flapping, gravity-welling magic orbs?
  • On day two of Chapter 2, the SSS receives a mission from Mueller to find Olivier.
    • The mission is posed, hilariously, as Mueller being Olivier's "talent manager," and Olivier being a missing musician they need to find. The SSS notes that Mueller doesn't look anything like the part, and he's wearing black sunglasses to try to disguise himself. Also, in describing the "target" to the SSS, Mueller tells them "he's a nuisance, a fool, and a real pain in my..."
    • The party arrives at the old town and almost gets themselves in a fight until Olivier introduces himself from a nearby rooftop. He begins to break up the fight by performing like he did before... except that halfway through the song, Jingo walks in and kicks him off the rooftop of her store. Literally.
  • The East Crossbell Highway chest with the clipping grass has a new chest-message:
  • On day three of Chapter 2, Phantom Thief B strikes again, this time pilfering Mariabell's five Rosenberg dolls and hiding them across Crossbell for the SSS to find. After the sidequest, Lloyd suspects that Bleublanc may have pulled the same trick as he did in Zero and disguised himself as the client, i.e. Mariabell, so Lloyd outright asks if Mariabell is Phantom Thief B in disguise. Her response is to lift him into the air with one hand just like in their first meeting, removing any doubts that they were speaking to the real Mariabell.
  • During an investigation, the SSS has to ask a shopkeeper for information about strangers in Crossbell. Afterwards, the justly-worried mother asks her daughter if she's seen anybody strange around town. In response, she gets told that she was just talking to some strange people. She then mentions the other strange people she's seen around recently: Ries and Lechter.
  • The fortune-telling scenes in Azure can be heartwarming, tear-jerking, or foreshadowing but some of them are just plain hilarious. Tio for example wants to know how compatible she is with Mishy. As a fan, it's really important.
    • Heck, most of Michelam is funny, whether it's Lloyd trying to apply sun oil or Tio giving a serious lecture on the awesomeness of Mishy or Randy planning out his flirting schedule in advance or KeA innocently asking if she and Lloyd could get married when she turns sixteen.
    • The sunscreen scene especially stands out, starting with the Big "WHAT?!" Lloyd gives when Cecile makes the offer.
    • Upon first entering the theme park to enjoy the attractions, Lloyd encounters Tio giving Sully a sermon on the delights of Mishy. Sully begs Lloyd to save her, saying that he's already taken down one cult. However, Lloyd tells her that Tio's Mishy-worship is one cult that can't be quelled.
Sully: THIS is where you give up?!
    • In both Zero and Azure, Elie exhibits a pronounced fear of ghosts. If you choose her as a companion on the Horror Coaster, she'll react very badly and her cries of terror throughout the ride are absolutely hilarious.
    • If you take Randy to the fortune-teller and ask him to choose what the reading should be about, he asks what his chances are in his next round of "chick-surfing." The fortune-teller tells him that it's 50/50, that some women are allured by his handsome charm and winsome looks, but there are just as many who are equally wary of him. She also warns him that if any his ventures due succeed, his odds of finding true love through them are close to zero. "L-Lloyd, old buddy... old pal... This is the end for me," he comments. The fortune-teller then continues that he should not allow the love he already has at hand to escape and though Lloyd knows it's Mireille and starts to say as much, Randy feigns at playing dumb.
    • One that's purely visual: After exhausting all your Tickets, you'll leave the theme park in a cutscene. Tio turns back to wave at Mishy. And stops to do it again. And again. Did we mention she's a huge fan?
  • Early in chapter 3, you can receive Mariabell's Pom Party account info from the IBC receptionist Lanfei, as well as a note from Mariabell where she offers to crush Lloyd into the ground. The normally polite and professional Lanfei does a perfect imitation of Mariabell's haughty attitude while reading the note to the SSS, despite claiming that she overacted the part.
  • The quest that involves catching the counterfeit dealer. To writ: After Lloyd and co confront her, she completely drops her granny facade, unleashes the full fury of her shouting at them, completely stupefying everyone present (including the poor bystander who was having a cordial conversation with her before), and jumps onto a train from the balcony. On the train, she inadvertently saves a few terrorists by literally running over their pursuers, and recruiting them to help her cause of running away. In the ensuing battle against her and the terrorists, she supports her new underlings by yelling so loud that it can knock back your characters by several steps.
  • Upon completing KeA's room ornament sidequest, you're treated to a scene featuring a callback to Zwei II in which KeA wears her penguin costume. As the other SSS members file into the room, the girls all rush over to KeA and begin glomping her, bowling Lloyd over each time. (In the remastered versions, Lloyd's grunts of pain are voice acted despite the rest of the scene lacking it) The scene ends with narration informing the player that the SSS set up rules about KeA and that costume after the fact.
An indefinite ban was placed on Penguin KeA for the safety of everyone in the building, lest they fall victim to her indomitable cuteness.
    • KeA should count herself lucky that Anelace isn't in this game, or it would have been worse.
  • A sidequest halfway through the game involves Lloyd and Tio dressing up as Mishy and Mishette after the guy intended Mishy calls in sick and is unable to go to Mishelam until the afternoon. Near the end, it's revealed that the guy in question is a middle-aged man. Poor Tio ends up traumatized by the discovery, and after returning to Crossbell, she doesn't elaborate beyond a vague "learning to grow up" statement, much to Lloyd's concern and the members' confusion.
  • One of the hidden quests involves Sully training before Arc en Ciel's big renewal. Ilya tells her to take a break to eat something and begins talking to Lloyd and the others as Sully dashes offstage. She dashes back on stage about twenty seconds later, declaring that she's finished eating.
  • Lloyd challenging Noel to a 1-on-1 in the Final Chapter... by announcing that "But if I win, Noel... you're all mine." You can just feel the tension completely slipping away for the uninvolved party members.
  • The entire reunion with Tio in the Final Chapter of Azure, starting with her forgetting that her armor makes tight hugs uncomfortable for the other person, then her delayed realization that for the first time, everyone can hear what Zeit is saying.
  • When Randy confronts Gareth, the latter asks what Randy thinks he's doing confronting him when he has a Blade Rifle and Randy doesn't. Cue Randy pulling out his Berserker (which is considerably bigger than Gareth's weapon) and pointing out that he has one, he just didn't need to use it. Cue Oh, Crap! reaction.
  • Randy thanks Zeit for calling his pack over, asking if he brought them as insurance. Zeit agrees that he did. Randy thanks him for this, and then, like with Tio, the other shoe drops.
Randy: Wait, WHAT THE HELL?! Since when did you start talking?!
  • Randy flirting with Duvalie as the latter is challenging the party to a fight, throwing her completely off-script.
  • In Chapter 4, the SSS is hired by a married couple to track down the husband's estranged father-in-law, a disgraced congressman, so they can introduce him to their new child. The group quickly discovers that the pair are Sickeningly Sweethearts who easily get sidetracked into loving soliloquies of each other. An increasingly annoyed Tio winds up being the one who always has to get them back on track.
  • Following the attack on Crossbell by the Red Constellation, the SSS is asked to help put together a beauty pageant. They invite Ries along, who initially declines due to being extremely busy with her duties at the cathedral... until she asks what else is involved in the pageant and Tio happens to mention that there's a buffet being held afterwards. Ries immediately changes her mind and decides to participate. And spends most of the afternoon at the buffet.
  • During the pageant, Officer Kate leaves due to an emergency call and the player has to choose an SSS member to replace her. Picking a guy will cause Roy to be angered, forcing the player to pick again. If Wazy is picked, Noel will take offense at the idea that he has more sex appeal than the girls. Wazy himself, however, doesn't utter even the slightest protest at the idea. If Lloyd is picked, Noel will blush at the idea of him cross-dressing. Also, even though you've already been chosen not to pick a guy, you can continue doing so until all three options are exhausted.note  Randy's reaction if you pick him is priceless:
  • The gag with the housekeeper near Ilya's apartment from Zero is reprised. It's now Sully's apartment and the housekeeper is over the moon when Ilya says hi to her after paying a visit to Sully. Lloyd thinks to himself "If you only knew that she'd been living there all along."
  • After Rixia's cover is blown, she asks Grace not to say anything about this in the paper. Grace agrees, but says that she'd still love to write up an expose on the Moon Princess' double life... and bust size. Rixia ends up quietly begging Lloyd for help in getting away.
  • In the English-language release, Campanella implies that all of the corny chest puns you encountered during your run through the Moon Temple were his doing.
  • In-game, the SSS receives their mira and DP from the Crossbell Police Department for completing support requests, but also for major story sections at the end of every chapter. This includes the Fragments chapter, which consists almost entirely of Lloyd staging a breakout from the Police Academy's jail, meaning you were paid by the police for breaking out of prison. One of the chest phrases in Stargazer's Tower in the English release even lampshades this.
Chest-phrase: You ever stop and think about how the CPD awarded you 5 DP for breaking out of prison?
  • In the Geofront D Sector, your party is engaged by a massive combat robot, Torso Z, which identifies them via the Orbal Network as the Special Support Section, being Threat Level 3. It says "That is high enough, I guess." "Y-You 'guess'...?" comments Elie and Randy wonders "Since when do these buckets of bolts have opinions?!"
  • During the boss fight against Campanella, he reflects all Arts by default. This prevents you from using offensive or debilitating Arts... but also prevents you from using Analyze. If you try, it will be reflected onto a random party member, and your Analyze will confirm that, yes, that is indeed your party member.
  • After reaching the 36th floor of the Orchis Tower during the battle to retake Crossbell, the party encounters Vice Commissioner Pierre. Up until then, his behavior has been like an Extreme Doormat, so they're surprised to learn he got locked up in the tower after coming to voice his objections to the declaration of martial law.
Tio: This is an unexpected development. Aeon system now detecting backbone.
