Trivia / The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure

• Acting for Two: Whether it's by Tsuyoshi Takishita or Osamu Ryuutani, Zeit and Wald are always voiced by the same guy.
• Ascended Fanon: The official English localizations are based on the duology's final Fan Translations, licensed to NIS America by The Geofront, the translation group that created the patches.
• Content Leak: Epic Games Store accidentally confirmed the official localizations prior to the official announcement by launching the store pages too early. The only surprise the leak didn't completely ruin was that it would be using the Geofront translations as a base, and even then, some people put two and two together from Trails to Azure's official logo being almost identical to the Geofront logo.
• Cross-Dressing Voices: Like Joshua before him, Wazy is played by a Japanese voice actress (Junko Minagawa).
• Fan Translation: A translation of Zero faced many delays and setbacks (hey wouldn't be a Kiseki game otherwise); an early beta is fairly easy to get a hold of if you know where to look. In fact, aside from the most famous one being Geofront, there are already rough translated versions (which includes the main story, sidequests, fishing, recipe book and NPC lines) of both games available online. All you need is a PSP Emulator like PPSSPP or an actual hacked PSP for it to work. Note that the latter method results in a few game breaking bugs like the cookbook for Zero. The Geofront translation was released properly on March 15, 2020. A translation for Azure would come out May 21, 2021. Though the Geofront accelerated their work to avoid being preempted by a NIS America release, NISA ended up partnering with the Geofront and using their work as a basis for the official localization, resulting in Geofront removing the patches.
• In Memoriam: After Geofront member Scott Tijerina, known on YouTube as "KillScottKill", died in October 2022, Zero version 1.4.2 changed a chest message in Stargazer's Tower to "In loving memory of Daniel Scott Tijerina, our fallen hero who exemplified the indomitable spirit of Crossbell." A similar message is shown after completing Azure.
• Late Export for You: Both Falcom's president and XSEED, the franchise's English-language localizers at the time, are on record as saying that they'd have liked to bring the Crossbell games over, but various issues^note Such as the PSP being discontinued, among other reasons. made it financially unfeasible for a long time. In 2022 and 2023, nearly twelve years after the release of the original games, the duology were finally given official English releases by NISA, with the cooperation of the Geofront fan translation team.
• Limited Special Collector's Ultimate Edition: Both of the English limited editions of Zero and Azure include a hardcover artbook, a soundtrack CD, a cloth poster, acrylic standees of the SSS and a steelbook.
• Low-Level Run: There's an achievement for completing Zero at level 40 or below (out of 50).
• No Dub for You: The localized versions of the duology did not receive an English dub, making it the first time that a Trails game is undubbed.
• The Other Darrin:
  • Due to the death of Tsuyoshi Takeshita, Osamu Ryuutani took over the roles of Wald and Zeit from Azure Evolution onwards.
  • In Zero Evolution, Abbas was voiced by Yoshinori Ishikawa. In Azure Evolution, he is replaced by Takahiro Fujimoto.
  • Barring Arios, the four Crossbell Bracers got different voice actors in the transition from Zero Evolution to Azure Evolution.
• Playing Against Type: At the time of Zero's initial Japanese release, Rie Kugimiya was typically known for playing temperamental Tsunderes. KeA, by contrast, is a sweet, cheerful girl without a mean streak in her.
• Remade for the Export: The duology went unreleased in the west for years due to a variety of reasons ^note The company that made the PC port going under, the PSP being discontinued among others . It wasn't until 2022 and 2023 that players are able to play the duology with NISA and the Geofront fan translation team using the Kai version.
• Same Content, Different Rating: Both games are rated CERO B and ESRB T, but PEGI 18 due to gambling minigames.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Rough drafts of Tio's character show that at one point she was going to have detachable shoulder armor or hairpieces which served as Bits. The version that went to print still looks a bit like it could do this, and notably, there are still moments in the games where Tio removes her shoulderplates, with a dialogue portrait to match.
  • The duology as a whole wasn't even planned to exist. But after the drafts of Cold Steel were finalised, Falcom decided to write a story for Crossbell due to how often it was namedropped as an important location in Cold Steel to answer why it's so important in the first place.
• You Sound Familiar:
  • Hidehiko Kaneto, who voiced Kurt Nadin in the Sky games, now voices Joachim Guenter.
  • Tetsu Inada, the voice of Zin Vathek from the Sky games, plays Sigmund Orlando here.
