    The Game
  • The artwork on the Two-Edged Parry Shinobi Card shows Berecca and Lucy whacking each other over the head with their weapons.
  • The descriptions for the green skins for the various weapons describe the color as "leafy green." The Drill Beast's green skin comments that the taste is addictive, the Scrap Saber says the taste will make you dizzy, and the Matsuri Board flat-out says it won't comment on the taste at all. Remind you of anything?
  • If a player is IPPON'd downwards, they'll look as if they've been buried into the ground head-first, complete with their legs sticking upwards and twitching.
  • One of the in-game voice lines for Lucy's voice (presumbly triggered when the player is gum-binded) is her muttering pure Angrish.
  • A number of outfits can be pretty funny-looking:
    • The Try Me! Style cosmetic set, which was available via the Gumball Machine during Season 3, consists of a costume and hat that make the player look like a Thanksgiving turkey. Yes, it's as ridiculous as it sounds.
    • Continuing the trend of outfits that make you look like food, the New Years sale included a package with a set that made you look like a burger and fries.
    • Again with the foods, one of Season 3's Gumball Machine Pickups included a hat that looked like a croissant with a badge on it.
    • Season 4's Bashful Bread set puts the avatar in a giant gingerbread man suit. The left hand is exposed however, causing it to appear as if the gingerbread broke off.
    • The Ninjala Pass's Tier 100 outfit reward for Season 4 is an outfit that's basically half and half with two contrasting styles split down the middle. Depending on who you ask, it's either neat and quirky, or hilariously bad-looking.
    • Season 7 continues the food trend once again, this time giving us a hot dog outfit.
      • The costume is thick enough that some emotes, such as Shuffle & Boogie, make it seem as if the costume has no arms, making it look even funnier.
      • Use the Headbanging emote with the hot dog outfit on. We dare you.
  • Plenty of the emotes are pretty comical too:
    • The "Roll Over" emote will have the player lay down, bored. Occasionally they'll yawn and scratch their ass.
    • The "You Wound Me!" emote has the avatar put their hands over their face and drop onto the ground and roll around, except they'll lift their hand to peek every once in a while to see if anyone's paying attention before going right back at it.
    • Both Hip Hop Ninja emotes end with the avatar dabbing.
    • "Failure to Fly" makes the character jump up and try to rapidly flap their arms to fly. They manage to make it just a few feet into the air before plummeting back down to earth and landing on their butt.
    • While the Field Goal emote itself isn't anything to write home about, it's kind of funny how it was released the Friday before Super Bowl LVI.
  • For whatever reason, in the third chapter for story mode, Ron seems enthused about the Gumchi themed drone to the point of smiling with tears.

    Anime
Episode 1
  • We get a look at the results of some of the previous Ninja-Gum experiments. This includes making Burton hyper-emotional and climbing to the roof and meowing like a cat.
  • Just like in the CGI short, the first thing Burton does upon realizing he's turned into a child is to check his pants, "Ding!" sound and all.

Episode 2

Episode 3

Episode 4

Episode 5

Episode 6

  • Berecca's embarrassment about having to be weighed during her entry into the WNA Academy.
  • In the same episode, Lucy undergoes a sort of brainwave scanning test. She's so batshit crazy that the machine malfunctions.
  • During their first Ninjala battle, Lucy points out that Berecca is starting to sound like an old woman. Her reaction is just about what you'd expect. Even funnier when you remember that Berecca is actually an adult trapped in the body of a child.
  • Burton is launched out of the arena almost immediately when the fight starts, where he lands in a tree and finds a surprised Gumchi. He tries to have a look at him, only for the little yellow dude to rapidly punch him in the stomach before retreating.
  • Burton makes more smoothies for Berecca and Genryusai. Berecca of course isn't fond of it, but Genryusai quite likes it.

Episode 7

Episode 8

  • Burton's plan to break into WNA HQ involves him and Berecca tying themselves together with a rope, and Berecca using an IPPON Katana to literally launch him (and herself) over the river to get to the base. Berecca hits him so hard that he's knocked out cold, and when they do land on the roof his body starts to roll right off, nearly dragging Berecca off along with him.
  • Burton and Berecca slip past the HQ guards by morphing into metal poles for one of them to take into the facility storage. When he picks them up to bring them there, he comments on how much heavier they are than he expected.
  • The two search the facility for a bit looking for the server room, but have no luck finding it. Only to lean against a wall that conveniently flips around to reveal the hidden server room.
  • What ultimately convinces Burton to go with Genryusai's plan? Getting embarrassed in front of everyone by being bested by a bunch of kids during training.

Episode 9

Episode 10

  • Ron clumsily moving around during his first fight as he's still getting used to his new smaller body.
  • In Episode 10, we're treated to a scene of Ron eating a massive plate of food. He eats each item in a single bite, including a foot-long sandwich and a huge hamburger. Van and Kappei's bewildered reactions to seeing this are the icing on the cake.
    • The scene is made even funnier by how it seems as if Ron is unhinging his jaw to fit the sandwich in his mouth.
  • Jane encounters Van and Kappei struggling to use a yo-yo correctly. When she shows proficiency with it, they beg her to teach her how to use it. She agrees, but demands they call her "Miss Jane" and acts like a parent talking to their kids. Then there's the smug look she gives the camera afterwards. She may be a kid now, but she still has the mind of an adult.
  • Jane lamenting on the difficulties of being turning into a kid again...like not being able to drink a glass of wine.
  • When Ron and Jane attempt to create their gum weapons for the first time, Jane ends up with a hilariously flaccid IPPON Katana and Ron with an oversized club-like one. Jane tries again, and only gets an even more ridiculous noodle-shaped one. She sits out for the day.
  • Jane commenting on how high the ceiling is in her new child body.

Episode 11

  • Jane keeps forgetting that she's a child again, and ends up Verbal Backpedaling whenever she claims something happened when she was a kid to avoid blowing her cover.
  • Whichever team makes it back to the WNA Academy last has to endure a special punishment ("punishment game" in the original Japanese dub). What is the punishment, exactly? Doing nothing but meditate silently, with Genryusai overseeing and smacking them in the back with a paddle if they lose composure.
Lucy: I really hate punishment games!
Genryusai: (annoyed) HEY! Be quiet there!
  • Van and Kappei telling really bad ghost stories. Lucy in particular isn't impressed.

Episode 12

  • Kappei tries to hide by using gum morph. He decides to disguise himself as a giant bowl of noodles, in the middle of the road in broad daylight.
  • Lucy's Paper-Thin Disguise as a ghost is enough to send Van running for the hills.
  • While the Space Ninjas' ambush isn't funny, there's a brief moment during their ambush on Berecca where one of the Space Ninjas jealously glares at another who ate her Ninja-Gum.
  • Coach Bryce refuses to eat pumpkins. When Coach Amy asks why, he tells about how he read a story about a pumpkin-themed superhero as a kid. He took all of his friends out to a pumpkin patch to meet the hero because he believed it was real, and was labeled a liar when the hero obviously never showed up. Amy nonchalantly responds with a simple "uh-huh."
  • Lucy is still sporting an oddly satisfied smile on her face even with a hurt arm after the Space Ninja ambush.

Episode 13

  • Kappei suggests a ladder lottery to pick who will play as the cops in "cops and robbers." Mid-explanation, he forgets how the whole thing works, prompting a Face Fault from everyone else.
  • Ron not caring about the game results in him getting tagged when Emma throws Kappei (who turned into poop thanks to Van) at his face.
  • During the green Space Ninja attack, Kappei accidentally burrows trough the ground with the Drill Beast. Later on, while Burton is trying to attack one, Kappei ends up resurfacing right next to it, giving him an opening to defeat it.
  • One noteworthy moment during the fight is Ron repeatedly trying to whack the Space Ninja with his hammer while the Space Ninja is constantly resurfacing after each smack.
  • Van and Kappei failing to recognize coach Bryce after he takes off his shades right in front of them.

Episode 14

  • Van and Kappei discover Burton's secret exit just as Burton and Ron are going through. The result is that the "secret" lab that Burton was hoping to surprise Berecca with is no longer a secret because now all of the main kids made it their hideout. Burton and Berecca can only look on in dismay.

Episode 15

  • The Space Ninja that was captured earlier escapes during the night. When it swipes the Ninja Gum that Coach Bryce was guarding, he attempts to take it on, only for his night mask to fall back down over his eyes. He assumes that it's a trick and knocks over a cat statue which falls on his head and knocks him out, meaning the Space Ninja Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing.
    • Van and Kappei are sad to hear about Coach Bryce's injury because they'll miss his jokes. The jokes in question? Dumb poop jokes.

Episode 16

  • Coach Bryce gets stuck while crawling through a small hole while exploring the cave, forcing Jane and Emma to have to pull him out.
Jane: We really have our hands full with you!
    Bryce: Sorry...
  • Bryce's squad spots a glowing red light in the depths of the cave; everyone keeps their distance from it, as their orders are to wait for the extermination squad to take care of it. Lucy of course completely ignores this and immediately starts chasing it down, forcing the rest of the squad to follow.

Episode 17

  • After Ron's escape from his and Jane's unsuccessful infiltration of WNA HQ, Jane immediately passes out and says she could go for a drink. Or two. Or three.
    • Immediately followed by her yelling out to the lunch lady asking for some wine.
  • Berecca goes to check on Jane the next day, suspicious that she and Ron were lying about being sick. She comes across her in her bed absolutely exhausted from the previous night, complaining about how her head (and wrists) hurts. This is enough to convince Berecca that she wasn't lying.

Episode 18

  • To make sure everyone remembers their orders, Bryce asks them to repeat them. Van and Kappei, who boasted that they knew them, immediately forget.
  • Kappei attempts to hide from the Space Ninja by turning into a bowl of ramen again. Naturally, everyone comments on how stupid this is; only for it to actually work.
  • While the purple Space Ninja is walking away, four more identical Space Ninja appear behind it. It freaks out and runs off.
  • After the Space Ninja damages Jane and Berecca's MakiPhones, Berecca's phone starts to malfunction and starts commenting on her amount of body fat, leading to her actually breaking it herself.
MakiPhone: You currently have 30% body fat. Detecting moderate obesity.
    Berecca: What?! No I don't!
Jane: Wow, you hold your weight well-
    Berecca: This thing's broken, okay?!
    MakiPhone: (repeating itself)
Berecca: There's no way! It's gotta be busted! (smashing the phone with her fist) Stupid! Little! Lying! Phone!
MakiPhone: (breaks with a puff of smoke)
    Berecca: See? Busted.
  • Ron and Lucy attempting to get back to the academy by hitchhiking, and Lucy constantly scaring them away.
Lucy: Hey old man, hand over the truck! (truck quickly drives away)
    • Ron asks Lucy if she understands what's actually happening because she isn't taking things seriously.
    • Ron makes one last attempt with an oncoming red car, only to see it being chased by police and decide it's probably not a good idea. Lucy, however...
      • The best part? The police bring her back to the WNA and have nothing but good things to say about her to Coach Bryce and Coach Amy, much to their shock.
  • Burton takes a train to get back to academy, but is so exhausted that he falls asleep and ends up getting off at a station 1,500 kilometers away.
Bryce: How on Earth did you get that far away?!
Burton: That's what I want to know...

Episode 19

  • Coach Bryce once again has to explain that he wants the kids to leave it to the professionals to eliminate the Space Ninja because he doesn't want the kids to get hurt. All of the students respond with an exasperated "yeah, yeah."
  • Van and Kappei claim that they're ready to fight the Space Ninja despite being ordered not to, only to immediately freak out when a fish jumps out the water.
  • While fending off the yellow Space Ninja, Ron finds the girl Space Ninja leader and smashes her with his hammer. What makes this scene especially funny is that the girl Space Ninja doesn't even explode. Her eyes just bulge out from the impact and she's sent flying.

Episode 20

  • The flashback shows that Leonard is confused as to why Berecca hasn't aged at all since he last saw her, having no idea about the current Ninja Gum's de-aging effect.
  • Not wanting the others to know about Leonard, Berecca attempts to convince Van and Kappei to allow her and Burton to use the hideout in private. They agree, but being kids, they want to know what kind of friend Berecca is talking about and really want to get to know this friend and decide that they want to have a party with this friend. Emma, Lucy, and Jane enter the room and the latter asks if this "friend" is actually Berecca's secret boyfriend. Berecca agitatedly responds saying that's not the case, and Emma points out that reacting like that isn't helping make her believable. The kids eventually resolve to camp the area out since Berecca won't tell, prompting Berecca to beg Burton to help her out. Knowing that any further lies about the friend in question is going to get the kids to budge, Burton just sighs in dismay and tells everybody the truth.
    • When everyone agrees that they'll help out Leonard, Genryusai shows up and gives them Ninja Gum to help them get the job done easier, but not before telling Berecca and Burton that he knew that they would fail at lying to the other kids.
  • This episode introduces a new outro which mainly consists of the kids running away from the five different Space Ninja mooks with horrified expressions except for Ron, who has a completely straight face despite assuming the same pose as everyone else, and Lucy, who's enjoying every last second of the situation.

Episode 21

  • When Berecca and Jane finally open up to each other about their identities as de-aged adults, they both lament about how they can't have a drink.

Episode 22

Episode 23

  • While taking a breather during their mission to sneak into the Shadow Ninja base, Jane tries some traditional Oedo food, and winces the instant it hits her taste buds.

Episode 24

  • While Goro is sneaking around to get a message from Berecca's crew to the others, there's a brief scene where he has trouble fitting through a crack in the rocks because he's too fat.
  • After the carnival, Van comes back with a candy apple. Lucy immediately jumps him to try and grab it for herself.
  • Ron defeating Tsukikage by trapping him in a Tenchi Muyo net is as hilarious as it is satisfying.

Episode 25

  • When Kappei accidentally damages the Shadow Ninja's control room and causes everything to go haywire, Gen'unsai tries to fix the system by punching it. It doesn't work.
  • Jane lets it slip that she once hacked into WNA headquarters, then quickly tries to deny it when she sees everyone else's reactions.

Episode 26

  • Lucy agrees to show Van her powers again in exchange for a lifetime supply of ice cream.

Episode 27

  • While the staff is explaining the Ninjala Tournament to the students, everyone seems only mildly interested at first. That is until Bruce states that the award for winning is access to the "Super Luxurious Room", which has its own bathroom and shower.
  • Coach Bruce is explaining to Jane why none of the adult ninjas don't use the Ninja-Gum like the kids do, but he starts to drift off a bit from the topic. When he goes to look back at Jane, she's gone.

Episode 28

  • During the commencement of the Ninjala Championship, Dan is picked to give the competitor's speech. At first he's given applause, but then he just keeps going on and on and on to the point where everyone starts to get annoyed, including the principal. Lucy is particularly annoyed as she thinks about how much she wants to kick his ass.
    • Just before giving his speech, his voice is so loud that talking into the microphone is ear-splitting, and he quickly tosses it aside.
  • Jane helping to train Van and Kappei, hoping to use them to gain access to the Super Luxurious Room. She does this be having them do pullups, chasing them with her Yo-Yo while they're tied up, and make making them meditate, during which they fall asleep. Jane then decides it's probably not worth it.

Episode 29

  • Keith offers to bring Van and Kappei to a fancy restaurant he's going to, but it has a dress code requiring them to wear ties. Van and Kappei leave and show up a second later with ties over their normal everyday clothes, which Keith lets slide since it's only lunch.
  • Kappei and Van finish their meals and are absolutely stuffed, only for Keith to tell them that the main course hasn't even arrived yet. The other two are too full to eat anymore, so when the main course is served, he eats ALL THREE servings. Van and Kappei are shocked at this.

Episode 30

  • It seems that Van and Kappei have finally decided to try to actually learn something and have taken up the art of refined dining.
  • When confronted by Dan, Burton promises to be more ninja-like... and starts by using a "ninja-like escape."

Epiosde 31

  • The entire episode has Kappai and the crew going after a special fish from Oedo that Genunsai brought for Genryusai, which Goro stole in an attempt to eat it for himself. The cat winds up taking it up a tree and prepares to dig in, only for May to confront him. Goro is so intimidated that he runs for it, leaving the fish behind.

Episode 32

  • During the first fight of the episode, Coach Bryce turned to Amy to ask about how he's doing, then when he turns back he panics realizing that he missed the entire fight.
  • When Keith sees how awful Burton's smoothie looks, he decides to make a better looking one. Unfortunately, he ended up prioritizing appearance over flavor and made a smoothie that was even worse than Burton's, being so bad that it knocked out Naomi.

Episode 33

  • There's a small heartwarming moment between Goro and Gumchi when the former shares fish with the latter... then we cut to Bryce wondering where two of his grilled fish went.
  • Lucy's mom constantly getting back pain whenever she tries to make a dramatic pose
  • Near the end of the episode, we see Lucy staring dumbfounded at her mom, who is dressed exactly like her. Turns out, this was what Lucy's mom was like in her younger days.

Episode 34

  • Turns out that Coach Bryce is fired from being the announcer of the matches. There was nothing wrong with what he was doing, he just didn't do what was expected.
    • When he figures out that Burton stole from the storeroom from seeing the carrot that Dan returned before the match started, he looks to Amy hoping she'll comment on this since he can't speak, but she doesn't care and doesn't say a word.

Episode 36

  • The water gun fight that ensues because Berecca, Jane, and the female teachers didn't want to get sunburns.
  • Before teaching Dan how to swim, Burton offers a smoothie made with citrus and seaweed. Judging by his expression throughout the whole scene, he was definitely expecting the outcome where it's too strong to handle.

Misc.

  • A running gag throughout the first half of the show is Burton making ridiculous smoothies if various ingredients in an attempt to reverse the Fountain of Youth effects of the Ninja-Gum, all with varying results. None of them work.
  • Berecca being self-conscious about her weight whenever it's brought up.
  • Van and Kappei constantly trying to one-up each other any chance they get.

    Webtoon
  • In the beginning of the CGI pilot episode, Burton is explaining how modern ninja have to remain hidden, only to nearly get hit by a car when he gets distracted.
  • Ron has apparently been keeping track of how many times they've attempted the Ninja-Gum experiment; after over three years, they're currently at attempt number 2,503.
  • While Burton is nonchalantly throwing various items into the machine preparing the next test, he somehow manages to accidentally throw Goro the cat into the mix. None of them even notice until the machine fails because the cat is too fat to fit through the pipes. The best part is that this actually works, because the bell on Goro's collar is what leads to a successful batch of Ninja-Gum.
  • When the bell is added to the formula, the machine starts going wild as Burton casually turns around to tell Berecca it's about to blow up. When it does blow, we're treated to a Distant Reaction Shot of the resulting explosion as the rest of the city goes on as if nothing happened.
  • During the battle between Burton and Ron, a stray gum shot nails Berecca in the face. Neither of them take notice or check to see if she's okay.
  • When Burton discovers he's turned into a child, what's the first thing he does? He checks his pants, complete with a "Ding!" sound effect before he promptly screams in shock (or maybe horror). The guy clearly has his priorities straight.
    • Even funnier, despite all the differences the anime made, it made sure to keep this moment in.
  • Berecca's reaction to being turned into a child:
    Burton: Berecca...We've...We've turned into children.
    Berecca: OBVIOUSLY! NOW DO SOMETHING!

Episode 3: A Beautiful Intruder

  • Jane likes to munch on candy while working. When she's first hacking into the database, she goes through an entire jug of small candies in just a few minutes.
    • When Jane hacks into the machine at the lab to find out information on the Ninja-Gum project and finds a Ninja-Gum ball, she instinctively throws it in her mouth while distracted. Oh, Crap! ensues as Jane realizes what she just did.
  • After Ron saves Jane from Bob, who was trying to assassinate her, we get this exchange:
Ron: (deadpan) Jane? What's the info com section got you here for?
Jane: (sarcastically) Oh, I'm doing just fine, thanks for asking.

Episode 5: You're the Star!

  • When Emma finishes her audition at the talent show, the crowd goes silent waiting for more. After a few seconds of awkward silence, Emma has to tell them that she's finished. The crowd roars with applause immediately after.
    Emma: Um...I'm done.

    Meta
  • This image of Ron and Berecca cooking pancakes. Ron's pancake is going well, while Berecca's is burnt to a crisp as she looks at it with a frustrated look.
  • A promotional drawing celebrating the game reaching three million downloads has Lucy, Burton, Berecca, and Van watching a movie together, implied to be a horror movie. Lucy and Burton look on in interest, Van looks tense, and Berecca is hugging a pillow looking absolutely terrified.
  • The 4 Million Downloads celebration drawing shows a panicked Van being chased by an army of space ninja.
  • This official illustration from the Ninjala official Twitter account gives us Ron and Kappei with a huge bowl of ice cream. Kappei is more than happy to dig in, while Ron is too intimidated by the sheer size of the dish.
  • While it's understandable, given that both are published by the same company, here's something oddly funny about the colorful and cartoony Ninjala having a collaboration with the gory, post-apocalyptic, and M-rated Let It Die.
  • A Valentine's Day contest was held in February 2021 where fans could submit Ninjala-themed Valentine's Day card designs. The winner for "Most Unique" featured a disgruntled Ron in a giant heart costume, with the only word on the card being "Ron." Meanwhile the winner for "Funniest" had Burton with a freaking Berecca body pillow. You can view the winning cards here.
    • Special mention to the judge's notes about the winners as well. One of the judges for Most Unique commented "It is I, Ron," a judge for Funniest commented "The heart wants what the heart wants," and a judge for Cheesiest (which is of an adult Ron decorating a cake) said "My dad made this exact joke."
  • A promotional image for the Ninjala Beginner's Event in Season 5 (featuring in-game models of all the characters) accidentally had mismatched faces (such as Ron and Lucy having Van's face for some reason, and Jane having Berecca's face). It was later fixed and the corrected image was posted on the game's Japanese Twitter account. When the English Twitter posted the same tweet however, they used the original version of the image with the errors, which was immediately called out and made fun of. They quickly took down the tweet and reposted it with the correct image, but everyone got good laugh out of it. Even the Twitter account poked some fun at themselves!

    Other
  • The Season 3 trailer starts with Emma trying to get Van's attention, but he has headphones playing music on and doesn't notice her. Emma's solution is to summon a Pop Eye hammer and wallop Van with it. Even funnier is afterwards when Van is understandably angry at her, Emma just shrugs and wonders what the big deal is.
  • During a brief moment in Season 5's trailer, a pair is walking in an alleyway when a massive silhouette of a dragon appears and spooks them. It's actually another group making a shadow puppet, while standing on Ron, dressed as a donkey and looking absolutely pissed as he tries to support the weight of three whole people on his back.
