Where the hell are we?

Void's Inheritance is a Fusion Fic by duhadventure. The fic combines the worlds of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Metal Gear, Genshin Impact, Hellsing, Durarara!!, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Warframe taking place in the setting of My Hero Academia.

It can also be read on Fanfiction.net here.

Void's Inheritance provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Mixed with Adaptation Expansion for some.
    • Ordan Karris: A disgraced philanderer turned mercenary for the Orokin, eliminating threats to the empire.
    • Natah gets a more detailed look into her past and her infiltration of the Orokin.
    • Nezu's past is revealed in chapter 19 on his escape from the labs he was raised in and how he became a chimera.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance
    • Nezu, Midnight, Hound Dog, and Detective Tsukauchi are introduced after Haylee and the others witness Toshinori's skinny form after he defeats Hunhow.
    • Mirko, Eraserhead, and Takeshita fight Inosuke when he wakes up in the future.
    • David and Melissa Shield are introduced after Tyl saves Melissa from a Void-corrupted Hardsuit.
  • Adaptation Personality Change:
    • Natah becomes slightly more laid back and relaxed compared to her Lotus persona.
    • Ordan's Mood-Swinger tendencies are dialed back and he is a bit of a Troll.
  • Adaptation Species Change: Hunhow, Erra, Natah, and Ordis become human upon entering the new universe.
  • Adaptational Super Power Change:
    • All Warframe characters who arrived get quirk(s) based around traits or abilities they previously had.
      • Haylee gets the ability to transform into her Warframe instead of it being a separate infested puppet.
      • The Stalker can also turn into his Warframe.
      • Ordan gains the ability to grow bone structures from his body, along with retaining any information he held as a Cephalon, granting him increased intelligence.
      • Natah has her Sentient abilities of damage adaptaion and shapeshifting. She can also shoot energy blasts.
      • Hunhow has the same Adaptive Ability as Natah and the destructive power he had in his massive form compacted into his new Human body.
      • Tyl Regor is cured of his clone rot and gains the ability to launch his arms via thrusters he can telekinetically control.
    • Genshin Impact characters do not have Visions, their powers come from quirks.
  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: The Man in the Wall's offer to Haylee: Make a deal to carry on the entity's power or let the remaining survivors of the Origin System perish.
  • The Atoner: Natah and Ordan both decide to become heroes to do some good and make up for their past actions in their universe.
  • Billy Needs an Organ: Organ donation has become a rarity in the age of quirks, as the organs are often tailor-made to support the quirk or unique biology of a person. Quirkless people have it easier in terms of finding a compatible donor, but its not saying much considering the dwindling population. The overall diversity of quirks means that Cloning Body Parts isn't a feasible option with their current knowledge of genetics and cloning. Luckily, a certain Grineer scientist shows up...
  • Black Speech: Emphasized by Zalgo text.
    • The Man in the Wall's requiem words are this.
    • Whenever Haylee gets angry enough and loses control of her poweres her speech becomes this.
    • The Infested speak like this by default.
  • Cloning Body Parts: What David Shield wants Tyl Regor to help with using his futuristic knowledge of fast cloning.
  • Crack Fic: A combination of some of the source material is common in other Fanfictions, but all of them combined turns it into a Weird Crossover.
  • Crash-Into Hello: How Haylee and Lumine meet, although instead of landing on each other Haylee slams facefirst into the ground and splits her lip. Luckily she can heal.
  • Darker and Edgier: Significantly darker than My Hero Academia on account of Warframe being the main crossover with this universe, along with other series. The story doesn't shy away from heavier gore and mature themes either.
  • Evil Sounds Deep:
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Nezu's reaction when he puts together how powerful Hunhow truly is, and that he locked him under his school near one of Japan's biggest cities.
    • His first plan is to kill Hunhow due to the threat he poses, but he realizes that due to how powerful he is, even in his weakened state, it might not work. He isn't willing to risk the possibility of a Last-Second Villain Recovery that would allow him to break free and rampage before being put down. Even worse, Natah isn't even sure that she is strong enough to kill him.
  • For Want Of A Nail:
    • Izuku getting into a second villain incident leads to Toshinori revealing One For All to Inko.
    • Natah and Haylee being slightly too late to stop Ballas in their home timeline led to the destruction of the universe instead of just destroying the Origin System.
    • The Meta Liberation Army openly operates in Deika as the Meta Liberation association as part of a deal struck with the government, allowing Deika to be the only city where free quirk use is allowed.
  • Fusion Fic: Of the merged setting type. Takes place in the world of My Hero Academia, where the events of Jojo's Bizzare Adventure Parts 1-6, Demon Slayer, and Hellsing took place in the past.
  • The Future Is Shocking: Inosuke's first reaction on waking up in 2242 is to think that he's dreaming.
  • Godzilla Threshold: The London Down protocol, which requires approval from a majority of the council of agencies that handle global supernatural threats. The Protocol is a It's the Only Way to Be Sure policy for supernatural threats that get out of hand and need to be contained before they become public. It has been used 6 times following the Battle of London in Hellsing.
    • Nezu considers his plan to eliminate Hunhow should it become necessary this, as it would likely result in the complete destruction of Japan and many of the world's top heroes at minimum.
  • Hated by All: Everyone hates Ballas, even those who never met him, purely based off of what they heard about him. Considering how awful Ballas is even before he showed up in the MHA univse, they have every reason to despise him.
  • The Men in Black: Nezu and Toshinori reveal that they exist to keep the supernatural world under wraps. It's implied by other codex entries to consist of The Speedwagon Foundation, the Hellsing Organization, Catholic Church, Exorcist Association, and the modern iteration of the Demon Slayer Corps.
    • Chapter 9's codex entry is a transcript of Integra Hellsing musing on how quirks help keep the Masquerade going, since superpowers being common knowledge means they can blame real supernatural incidents on quirks.
    • The organization in Japan is responsible for the Tau family's new identities.
    • Nezu reveals in chapter 19 that they look the other way to accommodate peaceful nonhumans or ones where the cost of killing them outweighs the benefits and are willing to make concessions.
  • Our Demons Are Different: Crossed with Our Vampires Are Different. Chapter 16's codex entry reveals that "vampires" like Dio and Alucard, and "demons" like Muzan Kibutsuji have been reclassified as some sort of human mutant transformation rather than a separate species. For human-based monsters, "demon" is more of a title than an actual species. It also mentions that there are spiritual entities that the Chinese Exorcist Association refers to as demons, based on negative karma or corrupted lost souls.
    • Averted in the case that actual demons are confirmed to also exist.
    • True Vampires sired by drinking human blood or through the use of the Stone Masks are undead but still distinctly human. note
    • The Pillar Men are classified as a demi-human species undergoing a similar transformation without becoming undead. Justified as there are other human-adjacent species in the world. note
    • Muzan and his demons are mutated humans.
  • Our Time Travel Is Different: In the MHA universe, there is no written future and the past works like an archive of events. It operates on presentism under the philosophy that the future will happen and the past has already happened.
    • The Man in The Wall operates under eternalism just like the Warframe universe, a concept that is incomprehensibly alien to the laws of the MHA universe, which it weaponizes against the goddess of the MHA-verse by ripping Inosuke and someone else out of the past and altering the timeline.
  • Parental Abandonment: Multiple characters.
    • Happens twice to Haylee. Her parents died during the Zariman 10-0 incident, and by Natah after she fell back under Ballas's control.
    • Inosuke's parents as per Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, both being killed by Doma.
    • Disappeared Dad in the case of Izuku, as Inko is still alive.
  • Prison Dimension: The MHA Universe is this according to The Vestige of The Wall. It takes an extraordinary amount of energy to break in, and is almost impossible to break out.note
  • Simultaneous Arcs: The plot shifts perspectives between different characters frequently.
  • Spared By Adaptation: Erra survives the events of The New War, avoiding his Fate Worse than Death via Pazuul's possession of his corpse.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Haylee is this due to being Broken Bird and not wanting to grow attached to anyone else out of fear of watching them die again. She gets better after a Rousing Speech from Toshinori.
  • Temporal Mutability: The Warframe universe falls under Category 1, functioning under Eternalism. The MHA universe falls under Category 2, where altering the past is possible but actively harms the universe. See Our Time Travel Is Different.
  • That Was Not a Dream: Inosuke realizes he isn't dreaming once he is captured by Eraserhead and Mirko.
  • What If?
    • What if the Tenno and Lotus failed to stop Ballas from destroying the Sun?
    • What if the events of Demon Slayer, Hellsing, and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure were part of My Hero Academia's history?
  • White-and-Grey Morality:
    • Nezu points out that it is difficult to judge Ordan and Natah due to how horrific the Origin System was, to the point where Freudian Excuse is averted because it was just that bad'.
Nezu: Now imagine our Quirk Wars on a scale stretching across our little section of the galaxy. You can’t. It’s incomprehensible to you. None of us, or even your parents were born even born yet. Imagine living in a world where there is no one looking out for you, and the only figures in authority treat you like something less than livestock. They lived through something we can only barely comprehend. They were the closest thing that their system had to heroes.
    • Both Nezu and Toshinori point out, despite the latter's discomfort of their actions, that there wasn't a real alternative, due to the Orokin's "serve or die" mentality, as Ordan had to commit genocides just to get their attention, plus them being clearly remorseful.
      • And even death wasn't a guarantee of escape from them, as Ordan's story showed them.
    • Nezu also points out the Sentient's Blue-and-Orange Morality, comparing it to himself as both are not human, and don't have the same values.
    • David Shield is under the opinion that Tyl isn't inherently evil and instead a product of his upbringing under a xenophobic empire and being genetically incapable of disobedience (at least in the case of non-defective Grineer), which is supported by the fact that Tyl is clearly questioning his true thoughts on the matter.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: Even if they could escape the Prison Dimension that the MHA universe is, the Warframe universe was destroyed, leaving the survivors with nowhere to go.
    • Judging by the way time travel works, Inosuke won't be able to return to his time without damaging the fabric of the universe.
