Wario & Waluigi
- Ambiguously Human: They are humanoid in appearance, and they are said to be humans. But the elf ears, gangly eyes, pink noses, and extremely deformed proportions make them look super bizarre. Plus their even weirder anatomies and powers.
- Ambiguously Related: They're the Evil Counterparts to twins Mario and Luigi. However, their relationship is unspecified. It's unknown if Wario and Waluigi are also brothers. The official word is that Wario and Waluigi don't seem to be related, but not outright stating that they aren't.
- Anti-Role Model: Both represent greed and scheming.
- Art Evolution:
- Artistic Age: They look a lot older than the Mario Bros, who already look quite a bit older than their age of twenty-four, but they're said to be roughly the same age.
- Badass Mustache: Just like the Mario Bros, both Wario and Waluigi have mustaches. Wario's is shaped like thunderbolts while Waluigi's are straight and pointy.
- Brains and Brawn: As expected, when they team together, Wario is the brawn, while Waluigi is the brains. Both are still extremely prone to stupid decisions.
- Brilliant, but Lazy: These two are very skilled characters when it comes to mechanics and designing plans. It's a shame they usually resort to simple vandalism and petty mischief.
- Brought to You by the Letter "S": Wario has the "W" on his hat and his gloves. Waluigi, however, wears a vertically-flipped L (Γ) on his hat and gloves. It could also be the Greek letter "Gamma".
- Butt-Monkey: Both are extremely prone to slapstick whenever they team up on the spin-offs.
- Card-Carrying Villain: Okay, "villain" might be a strong word to describe them most of the time, but they are still very much rude, greedy Jerkasses and joyfully revel in every single second of it.
- Characterization Marches On: They both started out as simple bad guys. Wario was established as more greedy than evil, and Waluigi was given traits of self-pity, vengeful anger, and romantic passions.
- Later Mario Party games also made efforts to associate Waluigi with cunning and craftiness.
- Determinator: Both of them are extremely dedicated towards their goals. Wario does whatever it takes to gain gold, and Waluigi goes to great lengths to beat his rival and cause mischief (which tends to backfire hilariously).
- Demonic Possession: The first unfortunate victims of Lucien's possessive powers in Mario Tennis Aces.
- Envy: Wario was originally designed as Mario's jealous counterpart, but eventually became defined by his greed. Waluigi, on the other hand, has always been motivated by envy of Luigi, down to having a crush on the same girl and believing with every fiber of his being that Mr. Green is the only thing standing between him and ultimate stardom.
- Evil Counterpart: These two are practically Evil Twins of the Mario Brothers and the TvTropes Poster Boys for the trope, though they usually act as a Goldfish Poop Gang in sports spin-offs. The symbols on their hats are even an M and L turned upside-down.
- Fat and Skinny: Wario's the Fat. Waluigi is the Skinny.
- Gag Nose: One way they differ from the Mario Bros. is that their noses are bright pink and very large, adding to their ugly appearances.
- Greed: Even though Wario is a poster child for this, they both are extremely greedy, though Waluigi is less on the money sense, and more on the competitive sense. They will even steal from each other!
- Hair-Trigger Temper: They often get in trouble because of it.
- Harmless Villain: Presented as evil versions of Mario and Luigi, but their brand of villainy only extends towards embodying certain vices as opposed to actual villainy that Bowser and other villains possess.
- HeelFace Revolving Door: Sometimes they spitefully try to ruin the day, but other times, like in the Mario Party series, they'll even ally with Mario and the others.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: They can't seem to decide if these two are brothers or not.
- Hostile Show Takeover: In earlier appearances.
- Iron Butt Monkey: They have lived through things that even the Mario Bros couldn't. Examples include Bob-ombs and a Banzai Bill.
- Large Ham: Always over the top, with exaggerated actions and lines.
- Laughably Evil: Their antics are the focus of the Camelot Mario sports games.
- Mad Bomber: They are usually associated with bombs and explosives.
- Meaningful Name: Portmanteaus of the words "warui" and their rivals' names. More details below for the respective characters.
- Oddball Doppelgänger: While both of them initially started off as Evil Counterparts to Mario and Luigi, they've since changed to be more like this.
- Parody: An interesting example in a meta-sense, Wario and Waluigi are gross exaggerations of Mario and Luigi's designs. Mario may be chubby, but Wario's practically as wide as tall. Luigi's the skinnier of the two, but Waluigi has lengthy, spider-like limbs.
- Purple Is Powerful: Wario wears purple pants, and Waluigi's cap and shirt are purple. Interestingly enough, their purples are distinctly different hues, with Waluigi's being a more bluish purple.
- Secondary Color Nemesis: Wario may wear yellow, but he also wears purple overalls and green shoes, possibly as a nod to his ''Grey'' area as a character rather than outright villain. Waluigi plays this a lot more straight, with purple being the colors of his cap and shirt, orange shoes, and black overalls.
- Super Strength: They are polar opposites. Wario has great strength in his arms and punches, but his stubby legs are pretty weak on their own. Waluigi's arms are scrawny and he is usually pretty weak, but his long, lanky legs can deliver nasty kicks.
- Third-Person Person: Though Waluigi makes the most use of this, Wario is prone to do so sometimes.
- Those Two Guys: Even though Wario and Waluigi aren't exactly good guys, they're on Team Rocket-levels in terms of actual threat and are Laughably Evil at best.
- Token Human: They are one of the few existing humans in the Mario games. And they don't even look that human.
- Tombstone Teeth: Both Wario and Waluigi's teeth are almost cube-shaped, adding to their grotesque appearances; and Wario puts them to good use in games like Super Smash Bros..
- Trademark Favorite Food: Wario loves garlic, and Waluigi loves eggplants.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: In Mario Tennis Aces, the pair dig up Lucien, kickstarting the plot.
- Verbal Tic: Both Wario and Waluigi like muttering their own names a lot. Also: "WAAAA".
- Villain Team-Up: Waluigi was actually first developed to do this with Wario in Mario Tennis. In Mario Power Tennis, Bowser recruits them after they lose a doubles match and puts them through Training from Hell in an attempt to sabotage the game's tournament.
Waluigi debuted in Mario Tennis as Wario's partner (we don't know for sure if they're brothers) and Luigi's rival. He has so far only appeared in Mario spin-off games, and ironically never in a Wario game. His odd confrontational and slightly crazed manner have seemed disturbing to some, and inspired this comic.

- Abhorrent Admirer: Waluigi has some degree of feelings for Princess Daisy, who utterly despises him.
- A Day in the Limelight: In Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix, where Waluigi is the main villain of the story. In Mario Party 3, he knocks out Bowser and becomes the final boss of the game. Waluigi gets a fair bit more screentime in the Mario Tennis games. He stars in Power Tennis' opening movie alongside Wario. Also, WALUIGI PINBALL!
- Advertised Extra: Though promoted as a "central" Mario character, Waluigi has been relegated entirely to casual side-games. Waluigi's clothes sometimes appear in non casual games, but never Waluigi himself. Super Mario Odyssey lampshades it, saying Waluigi's costume is great for someone to lurk in the dark, waiting for their moment to shine.
- The Artifact:
- Despite his status as Wario's partner, it's never shown in the Wario series proper due to his complete absence in it, ironically enough.
- Waluigi being on this page is a meta example. He has never appeared on any Wario game save for an awful drawing in Gold. He's just listed here due to his association with Wario. In fact, Super Smash Bros. classifies him as a Mario universe character instead of a Wario one.
- Assist Character: In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, he is one of the many Assist Trophy characters. His function is to chase down opponents and try to stomp them into the ground and finish up by launching opponents with a mighty kick or a swing from his tennis racket. This carries over to 3DS/Wii U and Ultimate, in spite of being a highly-requested character in the before Brawl and afterwards.
- Ax-Crazy: Just listen to his sound effects and Mario Strikers Charged, where he smashes the soccer ball into the face of a member of the opposite team and gleefully dances and laughs after it. Apparently, his true motive, besides spoiling the parties and making everyone angry, is to take over the world and spread chaos across the land.
- Badass Moustache: It is rather impressive.
- Beware the Silly Ones: He is mostly a very silly character, however, he wipes the floor with Bowser in Mario Party 3 (and has an army of Piranha Plants) and can kick pretty much everyone to the ground in Brawl.
- Big Ego, Hidden Depths: He doesn't want people to know how insecure and self-loathing he is.
- Blow You Away: In Mario Hoops 3-on-3 and Mario Tennis. In Mario Tennis, he has to spin himself to create the tornado.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: Whenever Waluigi loses in Mario Kart Wii, he may say "I hate this game".
- Brilliant, but Lazy: He is very strong and fast physically, has a big assortment of weird and unpredictable powers, is the most skilled of the cast when it comes to sports, and often uses elaborate and deadly machinery. However, he really doesn't use much of his power for actual villainous purposes (even though, as we have seen in Mario Party 3, he could).
- Brought to You by the Letter "S": An L, flipped upside-down and mirrored, on his cap and gloves. It could also be the Greek letter gamma (Γ). Coincidentally, if you write Waluigi's name phonetically in Modern Greek, it becomes Γουαλουίτζι (Gualuídzi).
- Butt-Monkey: He tops Luigi. It seems like nothing goes right for this guy. Even he knows it.
- Camp Straight: Despite his crush on Princess Daisy, he isquite a fabulous fellow◊.
- The Casanova: Can be very romantic, as his victory pose in Mario Party 8 shows.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Just look at his lines in games like Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games or Fortune Street.
- Confusion Fu: Every new game, Waluigi is likely to come with a set of weird abilities that have no rhyme nor reason for their existence.
- Dastardly Whiplash: He bears an uncanny resemblance to Dick Dastardly and fellow evil twin Odlaw.
- The Ditz: At least according to Wario.
- Everything's Better with Spinning: Along with a Spin Attack in Mario Tennis, there are a lot of times when Waluigi is spinning just for the heck of it.
- Evil Counterpart: To Luigi.
- Evil Is Petty: Pettiness is practically Waluigi's main trait.
- Fat and Skinny: The Skinny to Wario's Fat.
- Flight: Something like it. In Mario Power Tennis and Mario Hoops 3-on-3, he can "swim" through the air. He can't rise, though.
- The Friend Nobody Likes: "Friend" in a very loose term. Waluigi is generally disliked and has next to no real friends outside of Wario. Despite this, Waluigi is still invited to parties and gatherings in the Mushroom Kingdom.
- Freudian Excuse: Why does he have it out for Luigi? Take a look at their first interaction.
- Gadgeteer Genius: He was the one who designed and built both Waluigi Pinball and Stadium Arena (a stadium full of energetic lights and robotic dinosaurs). In Mario Sports Mix, he also seems to have built a robot for Waluigi Pinball and designed a machine with four arms that instantly teleports to him and can fire lightning bolts.
- Gag Nose: Like Wario, he has a large pink nose. Although it's also crookedly evil.
- Getting Crap Past the Radar: His infamous Crotch Chop.
- Gonk: Not as ugly as Wario, but still there.
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: Displays them upon victory in Mario Tennis and Game & Watch Gallery 4.
- Gravity Master: He can swim in mid-air.
- Green-Eyed Monster: He utterly despises Luigi for his popularity and overshadowing him. To make matters worse, the girl he has some degree of feelings for, Princess Daisy, hates him and actually prefers Luigi, just to rub it in even more.
- Green Thumb: His special attacks in Mario Strikers Charged involve summoning purple bramble.
- Happy Dance: It seems he really loves celebrating some of his sports achievements with an impromptu dance, some of which, as mentioned, are rather fabulous.
- Harmless Villain: So much that you wouldn't even know he was a villain, if he hadn't tried to Take Over the World.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: They can't seem to decide if he and Wario are brothers or not.
- Hijacked by Ganon: It at first looks like he's going to be the main villain of Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix, but he's just the first boss, with Bowser being the final one.
- Hostile Show Takeover: He is◊ very fond of doing this. Usually, when he appears alongside Wario or gets the spotlight, he will do this, abruptly interrupting the game to annouce his arrival. His Brawl in the Family counterpart is the Image Source.
- He is implied to have done this to the Mushroom Kingdom itself in a Mario Party-e minigame. The game is called "Waluigi's Reign". It consists of Mario, trapped in a grey room with pipes above him and Waluigi in a cabin above. Waluigi starts to rain down coins and giant hammers at Mario. The number of hammers starts to increase and increase as Mario tries to avoid them. If you notice in the background not only is everything foggy and grey, but there is a construction site halfway finished, almost as it was being built recently. So much for Harmless Villain.
- Hypocrite: Accuses his opponents of cheating whenever he loses, while simultaneously taking pride in his own cheating.
- Inexplicably Awesome: We barely know anything about this guy, from his exact relationship to Wario to where he even came from, and yet he continues to show up doing weird, bizarre, and totally incomprehensible things on his way to victory.
- In a Single Bound: He's the only character who has ever come close to Luigi's jump height without flying.
- Informed Ability: He is said to be good at cheating and apparently does so regularly. However, since Waluigi is playable in almost all of his appearances, we rarely ever see him do it. Unless the player themselves is cheating, of course.
- Insane Troll Logic: He seems to believe that to become world-famous, all he needs to do is defeat Luigi.
- Jerkass: One of his most defining characteristics. It seems like he exists solely to piss on everyone's parade. He is even more of one than Wario; due to not having his own games, he hasn't been given the opportunity to perform any of the heroic feats that Wario has. He is also noticeably more antagonistic to Luigi than Wario is to Mario. While Wario generally dislikes Mario, Waluigi actively harasses Luigi with little to no provocation. He's also hardly any nicer to the other characters, like Mario. By contrast, Wario doesn't really seem to mind Luigi or any of Mario's other friends, and he is mostly just antagonistic toward Mario.
- Laughably Evil: He's too much of a petty villain and a Butt-Monkey to take seriously.
- Lean and Mean: In the same way Wario's fatness is an exaggeration of Mario's physique, Waluigi's leanness is an exaggeration of Luigi's thin physique.
- Master of Illusion: In the Mario Baseball series, he creates visual tricks like creating an oversized baseball or disguising a venomous eggplant as a baseball.
- Make Way for the New Villains: He did this to Bowser as well in Mario Party 3. After getting the Beauty Star Stamp, Bowser shows up. Expecting a fight with Bowser for the Mischief Star Stamp, Waluigi steals it instead, curbstomps Bowser when he tries to object, and forces the player to fight for the Stamp on a board of his own creation. While Waluigi only ends up being the penultimate boss-of-sorts, that scene was Bowser's last appearance in 3's Story Mode.
- Mind Screw: Many of his abilities fall on this category, such as suddenly conjuring water to swim through the air and generating huge thorny brambles wherever he runs and even making a powerful spiked whip from these brambles.
- Meaningful Name: Even more so than Wario's; not only is it a portmanteau of "warui" and "Luigi" like Wario's, but it's also a pun on top of that; "ruiji" in Japanese means "similar", while "warui" means "bad". Put the two together and you get "waruiji", or "bad similar"; mocking his vastly different appearance to Luigi. It's also an anagram of "ijiwaru", meaning "spiteful person".
- Narcissist: Waluigi blows his own horn at every opportunity and abhors anything that might tarnish his image. Guy literally thinks the sun is trying to outshine him.
- Never My Fault: He has a tendency to accuse his opponents of cheating whenever he loses.
- Purple Is Powerful: Everything is purple today. Purple is a color.
- Remember the New Guy?: His very first appearance was in Mario Tennis. He was shown to have some kind of history with the other characters, but we're not given any backstory on this guy. Over 20 years later, we still barely know anything about him.
- Satellite Character: He seems to have no real purpose other than serving as Wario's partner and Luigi's rival. Unlike Wario or Luigi, he has never appeared in his own official game.
- Spin Attack: One of his special moves in Mario Power Tennis.
- Stalker Without a Crush: Revealed to be this to Luigi in the 3DS version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, but people definitely thought he was this already.
- Stone Wall: Due to his long limbs, Waluigi is one of only two characters classed as "defensive" in the Mario Tennis series.
- Something About a Rose: His victory animation in Mario Party 8, his birdie animation◊ in Mario Golf World Tour, and his Special Shot animation in Mario Tennis Aces. All complete with sparkles. Seems to hint at a rather different interpretation of Waluigi than the one we're used to...
- Sour Outside, Sad Inside: Waluigi acts like a jerkass so people won't see his faults.
- Super Strength: No, really. Though, unlike the other characters in the series, it's all in his legs, and not to nearly the same degree.
- Take Over the World: His goal. You can probably guess how good he is at it.
- Teleport Spam: In Mario Strikers Charged.
- Third-Person Person: Waluigi will spy on Luigi using his new Waluigiscopes!
- This Is a Drill: According to Wario Warehouse, Waluigi ended up drilling himself to the center of the Earth while trying to look into the back of his shirt. He used his chin like a pickaxe in order to make his way back to the world.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Eggplants, to go with his purple theme.
- Weak, but Skilled: This is his usual role in the Mario spinoffs in contrast to Wario, as in his debut game, Mario Tennis, where his shots don't have much power but he has great control and enough height to make him a terror on the net.
- Zany Scheme: In DDR: Mario Mix. When Waluigi goes to the Truffle Towers, he tries to use the keys to make his wish come true. His wish is to become the best dancer in the world so he can Take Over the World by hypnotizing everyone with his dance moves.
Wario Land Series
Leader of a crew of pirates called the Black Sugar Gang, Captain Syrup is the main rival of Wario in the first two Wario Lands, in the first game possessing a base on Kitchen Island which is raided by Wario, and in the second game takes revenge by seizing Wario's new castle. She returned in Wario Land: Shake It! as an ally to free the Shake Dimension, with the same ulterior motive as Wario: money.
- Affably Evil: Selfish and manipulative, but a lot nicer than Wario.
- Anti-Villain: She's a ruthless thief, but she's honestly no worse than Wario himself. Shake It proves she's just as willing to help innocents like the Merfles herself — for the right price, of course.
- A Twinkle in the Sky: Suffers this in a number of the Wario Land II endings. This might have even played a role in her disappearance from the series until Shake It.
- The Bad Guy Wins: Well, she's not a bad guy per se, but in Shake It!, she manages to manipulate Wario into defeating the Shake King so she could claim the Bottomless Coin Sack from right under his nose.
- Batman Gambit: The entire plot of Shake It! was kickstarted by her luring Wario into the Shake Dimension so he could defeat the Shake King and let her steal the Bottomless Coin Sack.
- Big Bad: Of the first two Wario Land games.
- The Chessmaster: In Shake It!. The whole game was her using Wario to defeat the Shake King so she could claim the Bottomless Coin Sack. And it worked.
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Vanished from the series after Wario Land II until returning in Shake It.
- Damsel in Distress: A couple of chapters in Wario Land II feature her running into a monster of some sort that takes her hostage. Wario saves her so he can give her the boot himself.
- Dub Name Change: Super Mario Land 3's NA localization referred to Syrup's gang as the Brown Sugar Pirates, but used the original name of Black Sugar Gang in the sequel in keeping with the EU translation. This accidentally managed to suggest Captain Syrup's gang had refashioned itself as Darker and Edgier for the sequel.
- Evil vs. Evil: Though neither her nor Wario are truly "evil", just really greedy.
- Evil Plan: In Shake It!, she manipulates Wario into defeating the Shake King so she can steal the Bottomless Coin Sack.
- Femme Fatale: Flirts with Wario and is not above using her sex appeal to manipulate others, though Wario is pretty indifferent to her.
- Gadgeteer Genius: In Wario Land II, she turns out to have a certain knack for machinery.
- Lovable Rogue: She's a greedy, self-serving woman, but still pretty fun to be around.
- Manipulative Bitch: To Wario in Shake It!
- Nightmare Fetishist: Downplayed. Captain Syrup may seem pretty normal, as pirates go, but is quite comfortable surrounding herself with death-traps and morbid imagery. The prize-winner in this category is The Really Final Chapter of Wario Land II, a platforming gauntlet through nightmare-scenery that you can't travel through without encountering the disembodied features of a human face and a dozen or more of Syrup's own pirates trapped and quite possibly dying in the very walls. She uses this area to guard the Black Syrup gang's big treasure.
- Non-Action Big Bad: Somewhat unusually for a pirate, she never fights directly in any of the battles against her, instead relying on minions or piloting machines.
- Not So Different: While she's portrayed as a villain usually, she's really not that different in motivation or morality from Wario.
- One-Hit Point Wonder: When fought alongside Mecha Goom in Wario Land II.
- Pirate Girl: If her name and appearance didn't give it away.
- The Rival: To Wario.
- Samus Is a Girl: The manual for the original Wario Land described her as a "really rotten and ruthless guy".
- The Unfought: In the original Wario Land, she uses a genie to fight Wario.
- Vehicular Assault: In Wario Land II, she fights using hovering battle machinery.
An evil clown-like demon sealed away in the music box world. He returned in Dr. Mario 64.
- Amazing Technicolor Population: His face has green skin with red around the left eye.
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Rudy is the largest boss in the game.
- Background Boss: In Wario Land 3.
- Bat Family Crossover: Him in Dr. Mario 64. Or more precisely, the entire Wario Land 3 enemy cast in said game.
- Batman Gambit: The entire plot of Wario Land 3 was a large Batman Gambit on his part.
- Big Bad: Of Wario Land 3 and Dr. Mario 64.
- Evil Laugh: "Ahh-Hah-HAH!"
- Fangs Are Evil: Has blood-red fangs.
- Fat Bastard: A horribly obese and evil clown.
- Floating Limbs: Ends up being his downfall. To damage him, you ground-pound his hands, temporarily detaching them. After that, you pick them up and throw them at his face, in a weird case of "stop hitting yourself." However, this concept art◊ shows that he was originally going to have actual arms.
- Fluffy the Terrible: Hard to believe that a powerful and evil demon would have a name as ordinary as Rudy.
- Giant Hands of Doom: Let him grab Wario with those giant hands of his, and you get the only Game Over in the game. They're also his weakness, as you need to ground-pound his fists to throw them right back at him.
- Informed Ability: Rudy apparently turned the inhabitants of the music box world into monsters, but during the boss fight, Rudy never showcases any magical abilities.
- It's All About Me: Stealing Megavitamins for himself from Dr. Mario, although Wario is after the same thing.
- Manipulative Bastard: To Wario.
- Monster Clown: Red eyes. Green skin. A Slasher Smile, spikes and skulls. Certainly no friendly child-entertainer.
- No Name Given: In Wario Land 3, he's only referred to as "a hidden figure" even after his true nature is revealed. He was later given the proper name of Rudy in the English translation of Dr. Mario 64 but he's still only referred to as a hidden figure in the Japanese script.
- One-Hit Kill: The only thing that can hurt Wario.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Has blood-red eyes to go with the equally red fangs.
- Sealed Evil in a Can: Sealed away, but turned the people into monsters.
- Skeletons in the Coat Closet: His costume is decorated in skulls.
- Spikes of Villainy: On his gloves.
- Sudden Name Change: The name Rudy comes from Dr. Mario 64; he was originally only referred to as "a hidden figure" in Wario Land 3. "Rudy the Clown" was mostly a popular Fan Nickname and then became Ascended Fanon via a throwaway mention in Fortune Street.
- Taking You with Me: His final act upon being sealed was to turn the inhabitants into monsters.
- Treacherous Quest Giver: He exploits Wario's greed to free him from his prison.
- Turns Red: On his last leg, Rudy's face becomes completely red and the music and his attacks become faster.
- Using You All Along: Manipulates Wario into freeing him.
- Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: For the most part, the game is a pretty lighthearted adventure through a music box world, stealing whatever treasure you can find... then comes this freak, who's not only a nightmare-inducing Monster Clown, but a being so powerful that he's the only thing that can actually kill Wario.
- Villain Ball: His plan would have succeeded if he just lived up to his word and sent Wario back to the outside world rather than try to kill him for outliving his usefulness.
- The Worf Effect: He is the only thing in Wario Land 3 that can actually kill Wario.
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: The reason he's the Final Boss.
- Your Size May Vary: He's the largest boss in Wario Land 3 by a wide margin, but in Dr. Mario 64, he's the same size as everyone else.
- The Cameo: Of Dr. Arewo Shitain from For the Frog the Bell Tolls. This is much more obvious in Wario Land 4, where his character design is revised to be closer to original appearance (except in an archaeologist outfit rather than a lab coat), and his name was even reverted in Japanese guides.
- The Dog Bites Back: After spending most of his screen time in Wario Land 4 getting stomped on and thrown around by Wario to solve puzzles, he's last seen jumping off of Wario's head on their way out of the collapsing pyramid, causing him to fall back down a deep pit.
- The Dragon: To Rudy in Dr. Mario 64.
- Dub Name Change: The Japanese Wario Land 3 manual calls him Mad Shitain.
- HeelFace Revolving Door: Was an ally to the player in For the Frog the Bell Tolls, but serves Rudy in Wario Land 3 and Dr. Mario 64. He's back to being a good guy in Wario Land 4.
- Helpful Mook:
- In Wario Land 3. His potions are helpful (except you can't open chests while invisible) and he's completely harmless.
- Many of the bonus rooms in Wario Land 4 require using him as a projectile.
- Invisibility: His potions in Wario Land 3 have this effect on Wario.
A major character in Wario Land 4, this female cat persuaded Wario to enter the Golden Pyramid and defeat the evil Golden Diva. It turns out that she's actually Princess Shokora, who had been trapped in the form of a black cat by the Golden Diva after she lost her kingdom to her in a magic duel. She turns back to normal in the end and is carried to heaven by four angels. Her true form depends on how many treasures Wario has collected.
- Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: At the end of the game, shortly after kissing Wario, four angels come down and bring her to heaven.
- Baleful Polymorph: Her cat form, as a result of the Golden Diva's curse. Once the Golden Diva is defeated, she returns to her human self.
- Blush Sticker: As the Black Cat, she has round, pink marks on her cheeks.
- Cute Kitten: As the Black Cat. Her huge eyes in that form make her look adorable.
- The Dog Bites Back: If you use an item from the shop on the Godlen Diva, Shokora gets a chance to beat her up before being captured.
- Dead All Along: Apparently, as she passes on to heaven shortly after changing back into her true form.
- Distaff Counterpart: Her second-worst form is a female version of Wario.
- Do Well, but Not Perfect: Her second-best ending seems to be the official one (as it's the form that resembles her artwork the most).
- Gag Nose: She has one while taking the form of the shopkeeper.
- Gonk: In the second-worst ending she has facial features very similar to Wario's, including the big, pink nose.
- Gratuitous French: "Shokora" is a Japanese approximation of the French word "chocolat", meaning "chocolate".
- Princess Classic: Seems to be the case for her two best forms, especially the "Cheeky Young Princess" form.
- Princesses Prefer Pink: All of her human forms wear a pink dress.
- Really 700 Years Old: She reigned over her kingdom for a thousand years before the Golden Diva came around, yet she still looks like a baby princess/an ugly-ass princess/a cute young girl/a beautiful young woman. Judging by how she ascends to Heaven in the ending, though, it's possible that she could be considered a ghost.
- Rose-Haired Sweetie: Has pink hair in her sprites, though in artwork it's closer to light red.
- Spell My Name with an "S": Officially dubbed Princess Shokora, that name is actually a French loanword, so you could make the argument to call her Princess Chocolat.
- Walking Spoiler: Her very presence, role, and backstory turn her into this.
The Shake King
An evil pirate who serves as the main antagonist in Wario's Wii adventure. He invaded the Shake Dimension and stole its greatest treasure: the Bottomless Coin Sack, a magic bag that never runs out of coins no matter how much one shakes it. He also imprisoned the Merfles, the dimension's inhabitants and kidnapped their queen, Merelda. Wario, having been lured into the Shake Dimension with the promise of the Coin Sack as a reward, fights to defeat the Shake King.
- Adorable Evil Minions: The Bandineros, who are The Goombas of the Shake Dimension.
- Amazing Technicolor Population: Has grey skin.
- Badass Boast: The quote above. He does a variation of it in the opening movie.
- Badass Cape: Wears a black cape.
- Beam Spam: Somehow he can fly, shoot lasers, and call down lightning via magic.
- Beard of Evil: Has a blond beard like a typical Viking warrior.
- Big Bad: Of Wario Land: Shake It!
- Black Eyes of Evil: Has black sclera and red pupils.
- Bullfight Boss: The first phase with him. Wario has to jump on his back and force him to crash into the wall to stun him. As the fight wears on, it takes more hits to stun him.
- Creepy Shadowed Undereyes: Has blue lines under his eyes.
- Dash Attack: Just like Wario's.
- Death Is a Slap on the Wrist: If you fail to reach the portal in time, he comes out, shakes your coins away, and kicks you to the last checkpoint.
- Evil Counterpart: He has all of Wario's abilities and the greed to match, but none of Wario's few redeemable traits. In all practicality, he's what Wario would be like if he went back to being a straight villain again.
- Evil Is Bigger: He's slightly larger than Wario.
- Final Boss, New Dimension: His dark cloud-filled battle arena.
- Generic Doomsday Villain: He's an evil pirate who conquered the Shake Dimension, imprisoned its inhabitants, and stole the Bottomless Coin Sack... and that's all we know about him.
- Greed: Just like Wario, it's all about money with this guy.
- Ground Punch: Two of his attacks. One calls down fireballs while the other stuns Wario for the Shake King to charge him.
- Horny Vikings: Has an overall Viking motif.
- Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: He's three times Queen Merelda's size, to where he could carry her in one hand.
- I Have You Now, My Pretty: He acts this way towards Queen Merelda in the opening movie.
- It's All About Me: See how often his icon is found everywhere?
- Malevolent Mugshot: His face/icon is everything, including his flag.
- The Man Behind the Monsters: The Bandineros are Waddling Head style critters. He's a roughly 12-foot tall, somewhat humanoid pirate.
- Mighty Glacier: While he's as fast and as strong as Wario and can jump even higher, his attacks are slow and easily telegraphed. In particular, if Wario uses his Earthquake Punch before he uses his, Wario can stun him for extra hits.
- Mirror Boss: He has all of Wario's attacks, including the ability to shake money out of Wario if he manages to get a hold of him.
- Obviously Evil: You can't get more Obviously Evil looking than him.
- Orcus on His Throne: He mostly sits on his ship awaiting Wario while his minions do the work. Justified in that he's already conquered the Shake Dimension.
- Playing with Fire: One of his Ground Punch attacks calls down two sets of fireballs that bounce across the screen.
- Power Floats: When using his lightning attacks.
- Red and Black and Evil All Over: His outfit is red and black, and he has red and black eyes.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Has red eyes.
- Shadow Archetype: He is what Wario would turn into if he went back to 100% straight villainy rather than the bumbling, amusing Villain Protagonist Wario is now.
- Shock and Awe: Uses lightning powers in the second phase.
- Shockwave Stomp: One of his attacks.
- Sequential Boss: Two phases.
- Slouch of Villainy: Does a magnificent one when Wario finally meets him.
- Spikes of Villainy: Everything about him, including his beard.
- Take Over the World: Mostly take over the Shake Dimension. And by the time Wario enters the fray, he's already succeeded. The rest of the game is Wario setting it right.
A race of elf-like creatures who sealed the Black Jewel away a long time ago. Once the Jewel became free again, it imprisoned the Spritelings inside boxes. Wario has the option of rescuing them over the course of the game, and they give him hints and tips upon being rescued. At the end of the game, they repay Wario for destroying the Black Jewel by rebuilding his castle. How well they rebuild it depends on how many he rescues.
- Ambiguous Gender: It's tough to tell what gender they are since they all look the same and have no Tertiary Sexual Characteristics.
- Color-Coded Characters: They come in five colors. Each level has five Spritelings trapped within it, one of each color.
- Crystal Prison: During the final battle, the Black Jewel traps them inside crystals. Most of the fight (or just the first phase in the Japanese version) consists of breaking them free so that they can attack the Jewel.
- Gotta Catch 'Em All: You must do this in order to get the best renovation of Wario's Castle.
- He Knows About Timed Hits: Some of them will explain Wario's moves and which buttons are used to execute them.
- You ALL Look Familiar: Aside the five different colors, they all look the same. Lampshaded by Wario in the manual.
The Black Jewel
The main antagonist and Final Boss of Wario World, a large, evil, dark-colored jewel that once brought chaos to the world. The Spritelings managed to temporarily end its reign of terror by sealing it away within their ancient ruins, but Wario, mistaking it for a harmless treasure, broke into the ruins and stole the jewel, allowing it to wreak havoc once again. The Black Jewel destroys Wario's castle, turns most of his treasures into monsters, and imprisons the Spritelings inside boxes. The former two actions proved to be its undoing; making an enemy out of Wario ultimately resulted in its demise.
- Amazing Technicolor Battlefield: The final battle takes place in Treasure Square, but all of its scenery is removed in favor of a huge white glyph which serves as the battle arena, and the background's color palette is inverted, giving it a very otherworldly look◊.
- Artifact of Doom: A giant malevolent jewel with Reality Warper powers.
- Big Bad: The Black Jewel is responsible for all the bad stuff that happens in Wario World, namely the destruction of Wario's castle, the conversion of his treasures into monsters, and the imprisonment of the Spritelings.
- Cutscene Power to the Max: It demolishes Wario's castle in the intro and does the same thing to Treasure Square before fighting him. It doesn't do anything anywhere near as destructive during the final battle.
- Damage-Sponge Boss: It has more health than other bosses (8 skulls instead of the usual 5) and has a very basic attack pattern that, outside of the Japanese version, never changes at all.
- Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Being a reality warping Artifact of Doom doesn't protect it from Wario.
- Evil Laugh: It laughs fairly frequently during the final battle.
- Eye Beams: Its primary attack is shooting laser Beams from its eye which set the ground on fire.
- Faceless Eye: It has one eye, which is where most of its attacks come from.
- Generic Doomsday Villain: The Black Jewel has no stated origin, no clear motive for its actions, and no personality outside of being evil.
- Orcus on His Throne: It spends the whole game sleeping in its giant treasure chest in Treasure Square until Wario opens it. Whether it was doing this to hide from Wario or just because it doesn't have anything better to do is unclear.
- Pivotal Boss: The Black Jewel seems to prefer hovering in the center on the battle arena and launching attacks at Wario from a distance. In the Japanese version, it ditches this attack pattern after the fourth hit and adopts a more close-range fighting style.
- Playing with Fire: Aside from the aforementioned Eye Beams, it can also shoot fireballs out of its eye.
- Power Floats: It floats in midair, unsurprising given what else it's capable of.
- Purple Is the New Black: Despite being called the Black Jewel, it's actually a dark shade of purple.
- Reality Warper: It has the ability to turn treasure into monsters and can create and destroy entire regions on its own. In fact, the entire setting of Wario World was created by the Black Jewel. The first thing it does after Wario encounters it at the end of the game is completely destroy the Hub Level.
- Regional Bonus: In the Japanese version (which came out long after the Western versions did), it Shows Damage, has more attacks, and has a second phase.
- Sealed Evil in a Can: The Spritelings sealed the can, and Wario opened it.
- Sparkling Stream of Tears: When it dies.
GreenfistA brutish reptilian monster that is the boss of Greenhorn Forest in Excitement Central.
- "Blind Idiot" Translation: An early Nintendo Power preview described him as a "reptilian goliath". The writers of the Wario World website mistook this as his actual name.
- No Name Given: "Greenfist" was made up by Prima Games, as the first two bosses aren't actually named by their respective level's Spritelings, unlike all following bosses.
- Nonindicative Name: Pretty much his entire body EXCEPT for his fists are green.
- Smash Mook: Its only attacks are to slam its fists down, and to chase after Wario in an attempt to smash him.
- Warmup Boss: Not only has the slowest and most telegraphed attacks, but the only boss to have three health points instead of five. He's also the only boss that can be damaged by a regular throw.
SandwormA giant insect that fights in a sandpit, much like its namesake that is the boss of Greenhorn Ruins in Excitement Central.
- Antlion Monster: Its main arena is a pit of cascading sand, letting Wario fall down to it rather than chasing him.
- Blade Below the Shoulder: When you get close, unveils massive scythes on the end of its arms.
- "Blind Idiot" Translation: Is called Big Scorper on the Wario World website, which is the name of a completely different character. Likely, the writers of the website had read the Pecan Sands Spriteling's hint on Big Scorpers and believed it was referring to the Degraded Boss as opposed to the common Mook.
- Degraded Boss: Reappears as a miniboss in Pecan Sands.
- Nonindicative Name: Is clearly based more on an antlion larva than a sandworm.
- No Name Given: "Sandworm" was made up by Prima Games, as the first two bosses aren't actually named by their respective level's Spritelings, unlike all following bosses.
- Spike Balls of Doom: It can spit these out of its mouth.
DinoMightyAn enormous alligator-like monster with long blonde curls and a red bikini who is the boss of Excitement Central, the first world in Wario World.
- Ass Kicks You: One of her main methods of attack.
- Attack Its Weak Point: Subverted. She has a large X-shaped bandage on her belly that seems to be a weak point, and punching it repeatedly will eventually stun her for a Mad Move, but it's the slowest and most difficult way to deal damage.
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Emphasised in the intro cinematic, showing her and Wario facing one another. Wario barely reaches her knees.
- Overly Long Tongue: One of her other methods of attack, spitting out a long chameleon-esque tongue with a glue orb on the end to stick to Wario, then slam him against the ground.
- Punny Name: A mighty dinosaur named Dino Mighty.
- The Smurfette Principle: The only female character in the game.
- Tactical Suicide Boss: If she loses sight of Wario, she'll raise her tail above her head as she looks for him. If Wario is on her tail at the time, this provides the perfect means to Ground Pound her head, leaving her stunned immediately.
Brawl DollA creepy, angelic baby doll that is the boss of Horror Manor in Spooktastic World.
- Blush Sticker: It has two round ones on its cheeks.
- Creepy Blue Eyes: They're huge, and there's no white part; the eyes are entirely blue.
- Creepy Doll: Its putto-like appearance with big blue eyes and star-shaped halo contrast its mechanical mouth, eerie laugh, and of course, hostile nature.
- Exorcist Head: In the cutscene before its boss battle, it turns its head toward Wario while facing away from him.
- Holy Halo: It has a star-shaped halo floating over its head.
Clown-a-RoundA bizarre, doll-like clown with false heads that is the boss of Wonky Circus in Spooktastic World.
- Detachment Combat: Its main method of fighting is to remove its heads and send them after Wario.
- Flunky Boss: He doesn't do much attacking himself (his only direct attack being a dangerous-looking but pretty easy to avoid move where he rides the ball across the arena and tosses it back), but he's constantly spawning clown heads which can be a pain to deal with in numbers.
- "Get Back Here!" Boss: A major part of the fight is clinging to its ball as it moves between platforms. If Wario doesn't do this, he'll need to wait for Clown-a-Round to return to the platform before he can damage it.
- Made of Explodium: The ball he rides across the tight-rope will inexplicably explode spectacularly after he tosses it back across.
- Monster Clown: An evil clown that serves as a level boss. A more literal example, as it appears human until its true face is revealed.
- Punny Name: A pun on "clown around" while also being a literal round clown.
- Turns Red: Starts spawning two additional types of heads once down to two HP. While they function identically to the original heads, all three types gain the ability to split in two the first time Wario lands a killing blow on them.
Dual DragonA pair of goofy-looking dragons with spiked tails that are the boss of Spooktastic World, the second world in Wario World.
Winter WindsterA large-headed blue creature that seems to be some sort of coldness spirit that is the boss of Shivering Mountains in Thrillsvile.
- An Ice Person: Seems to control freezing mountain winds.
- Breath Weapon: Can breathe a freezing gust of ice.
- Evil Eye: Its deadliest attack is performed by making eye contact with Wario while its eyes glow red.
- Orifice Invasion: Its most dangerous attack if Wario looks in its eyes. It turns into mist and enters Wario's body, inflating him like a balloon, then attempts to float him into the surrounding spikes.
- Use Your Head: After freezing Wario, it will attempt to hit him with its oversized noggin.
SpideraticusA giant spider wearing an army helmet that is the boss of Beanstalk Way in Thrillsvile.
- Attack Its Weak Point: A large X-shaped bandage on his helmet. Wario must Ground Pound this to do damage.
- Giant Spider: Unlike the other, more bizarre bosses, Spideraticus is simply a giant cartoon spider.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: One of his attacks is to spit Glue Globes out, trying to get Wario stuck, and then suck them back in. Doing so allows Wario to get close enough to Ground Pound his head.
Red-Brief JA muscular minotaur wearing a red speedo who is the boss of Thrillsville, the third world in Wario World.
- A Load of Bull: He's a minotaur.
- Boss Arena Idiocy: Fights Wario in a lava-filled arena, with the lava being the only thing that can hurt him.
- Macho Camp: Not only muscular and wears a speedo, but has a tendency to flex and strut around the arena.
- Made of Iron: Attacking him directly doesn't affect him at all. He won't even flinch.
- Mirror Boss: His fighting style heavily resembles Wario's, have his own versions of Wario's Dash Attack, Corkscrew Conk, Piledriver, and Wild Swing-Ding.
- Playing with Fire: He can shoot fireballs, and he can make flames appear beneath his feet just by walking.
- Ring-Out Boss: To win, Wario must lead Red-Brief J into charging to the edge of the arena, then ground pound it to force him into the lava.
- Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Very similar to Bifun from the original Wario Land, another minotaur that fought similar to Wario.
- Tactical Suicide Boss: Wario can't actually hurt Red-Brief J without knocking him into the lava. If it weren't for his charge move, the fight would be unwinnable.
- Villainous Valour: After he loses his final skull, he'll flex one last time before collapsing to the floor and exploding.
The Mean EmceeA strange green man dressed in a suit with a cane who is the boss of Mirror Mansion in Sparkle Land.
- Cane Fu: His main attack is twirling his cane at his side while walking.
- Cowardly Boss: Spends the majority of the fight hiding under cups from Wario. Even after he's been found, he'll cling to the inside of the cup until Wario shakes him out.
- Flunky Boss: Choose the wrong cup and it will spawn enemies.
- Puzzle Boss: His entire boss fight is based on the old sliding cups game, and Wario needs to watch and see (or guess) what cup he's hiding under.
- Shell Game: The basis of his boss fight.
IronsiderA living metal statue resembling a monstrous head that is the boss of Pecan Sands in Sparkle Land.
- Breath Weapon: One of its attacks has it breathing fire in a circle. This also destroys the stone hands if it hits them.
- Giant Hands of Doom: Uses giant stone hands to hold Wario in place so he can't avoid its attacks. Also the only way it can be hurt.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Can only be hurt by stunning its hands and then throwing them at it.
Captain SkullAn undead pirate captain who is the boss of Sparkle Land, the fourth and final world in Wario World.
- Arm Cannon: A literal example, his right arm being a ship's cannon.
- Dem Bones: Resembles a skeletal pirate.
- Ghost Pirate: As described, is an undead pirate skeleton.
- Grappling-Hook Pistol: Can use his Hook Hand like this to traverse from one side of the ship to the other.
- Hook Hand: Has one for a left hand.
- Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Well, maybe not "pint-sized", but he's noticeably the smallest boss in the game (around Wario's size) and is one of if not the most powerful of them.
- Turns Red: At two HP, he becomes immune to Wario's basic attacks. Wario can only stun him by throwing a barrel or one of Skull's own cannonballs.
Wario: Master of Disguise
- Batman Gambit: It is his goal to guide warriors to reassemble to the Wishstone, knowing full well it will release Terrormisu. Why? Because only someone strong and tenacious enough to gather the far-flung pieces of the Wishstone could beat Terrormisu for good.
- Clothes Make the Superman: How his powers work. He gives his master special outfits that enhance their abilities and give them unique powers depending on which one they're wearing. Wario gets a total of eight throughout the game, including his standard thief outfit.
- Exposition Fairy: Very frequently guides Wario, both in-game mechanics and hunting down the pieces of the Wishstone.
- Human All Along: He's revealed to be a human wizard at the end of the game.
- Nice Guy: A sincerely kind and incredibly polite fellow who wants to rid the world of a great evil. Goodstyle is also immensely grateful to Wario, giving him all the treasure the Cannoli clan ever gathered as a reward for helping him.
- Odd Friendship: Develops one with Wario. When Goodstyle reveals everything about himself and the Wishstone, Wario seems angrier at Goodstyle for not being straight about his identity than the fact the Wishstone was actually a prison for a demon.
- Wizard Classic: His true form is an old man with a long beard and a green Robe and Wizard Hat.
Wario's rival thief. He was originally the infamous Phantom Thief known as the Silver Zephyr, but Wario stole his magic wand from him and used it to do some master thievery of his own. Cannoli has two goals: 1) get his wand back, and 2) obtain the five Wishstone pieces before Wario does.
- Affably Evil: He tries to be this, but is too immature and pompous to be fulfill the "Affable" part.
- Alliterative Name: Count Cannoli.
- Aristocrats Are Evil: Is stated to have come from a wealthy family himself, and certainly fits the part for "evil".
- Attack Its Weak Point: All of his battle vehicles have crippling weak points that Wario must attack in order to defeat them.
- Big Damn Heroes: Pops in before the final battle to save Carpaccio and set the stage for Wario to fight Terrormisu.
- Boss Remix: His Battle Theme Music is a rock remix of his leitmotif.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive: Owns a company called International Evil Concerns Inc.
- Edible Theme Naming: The first of three characters in this game to be named after Italian food. Cannoli is the name of a Sicilian pastry dessert.
- Evil Laugh: "Ha ha ha!" is one of his standard voice clips.
- Faceship: Cannoli's third battle vehicle, Mad Hat Mk. III, resembles his head.
- Gratuitous Italian: He tends to shout Italian words during his boss fights, such as "bambina" when he's attacking and "mama mia" when he's defeated.
- Hat of Power: His hat doubles as a hot-air balloon.
- The Heavy: He's the main source of conflict for Wario throughout most of the game, showing up in nearly every episode to antagonize him.
- Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: No matter how hard or often he tries, he just can't beat Wario. This results in him having a tendency to grieve over how Wario constantly outplays him.
- Leitmotif: Has a sophisticated and smooth theme, emphasizing his gentlemen thief appearance. When you fight him in one of his mechs, a much more energetic and rocking version plays.
- Mini-Mecha: His "Mad Hat" vehicles are this, operating like fully-closed versions of Eggman's hovercraft and coming with different attachments.
- Phantom Thief: At least until his wand gets stolen.
- The Rival: He and Wario become rivals almost as soon as Wario takes his wand. He's not the Big Bad, but he's by far the most persistent and recurring antagonist in the game, and he and Wario both have a strong desire to prove their superiority over one another. At the beginning of the final episode, Cannoli gives up his pursuit of Wario and becomes an ally, only for them to become rivals again during the special episodes.
- Recurring Boss: Fights Wario three times throughout the game.
- Rocket Punch: Cannoli will launch the Mad Hat Mk. III's arms at Wario each time he takes a hit.
- Tactical Suicide Boss: Mad Hat Mk. III always faces Wario, preventing him from reaching its weak point... that is until Cannoli uses its sliding punch attack.
- This Is a Drill: The Mad Hat Mk. I has a drill in front of it, which Cannoli attacks with when Wario lands a hit on him.
- Throw Down the Bomblet: He attacks with bombs in his first and second battles. They can be disposed of by Cosmic Wario's lasers.
- Vehicular Assault: He has access to a lot of high-tech battle machinery, which he uses during his boss battles.
- Villain in a White Suit: As the Silver Zephyr, he wears a white suit. Of course, he doesn't get to wear it for long, since Wario steals Goodstyle from him at the very beginning of the game.
- Villain Protagonist: Not of the game itself, but of The Silver Zephyr, the in-universe TV show in which the game takes place.
- Villain Teleportation: Has the ability to disappear in a puff of smoke even without his wand.
- Worthy Opponent: It takes him a while, but he eventually comes to recognize Wario as this.
The CEO of Sigil Securities and Wario's other rival thief. He manages to plunder the Smithsnorian Museum before Wario does. When Wario first confronts him in Sneezemore Cave, he dismisses Wario as a pathetic loser and shuts 4 stone doors to block the path to him. However, when Wario eventually gets past the stone doors and defeats Carpaccio in battle, he realizes that Wario is a much greater threat than he originally thought. Like Wario and Cannoli, he also wants the Wishstone pieces.
- An Ice Person: As Head Honcho Carpaccio, he attacks by planting spiky icy chunks in Wario's path and trying to run him over with giant snowballs.
- Anti-Villain: Even though he's a narcissist and a crook, the whole time he was actually trying to stop Terrormisu from being released from the Wishstone.
- Attack Its Weak Point: In his Head Honcho form, he is defeated by dropping Arty Wario's blocks onto the yellow buttons in the center of his body.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive: He's the head of Sigil Securities, whose slogan is "We're hard at work watching your back... That way it's easier to pick your pocket!"
- Edible Theme Naming: He continues the theme of Wario: Master of Disguise characters being named after Italian food, carpaccio being an appetizer that consists of thinly sliced raw meat.
- Fusion Dance: He fuses with four mooks in order to go One-Winged Angel at the end of Episode 4. Oddly, the mooks he fuses with are not the ones that said One-Winged Angel form is clearly based off of.
- Giving Someone the Pointer Finger: One of his Character Tics. He tends to point at people while talking to them.
- Hair Flip: Another one of his Character Tics. His hair even sparkles when flips it.
- King Mook: His One-Winged Angel form is this to the Snow Globe and Blow Globe enemies found in Sneezemore Cave.
- Leitmotif: It becomes a Musical Spoiler at one point; at the end of Episode 7, Count Cannoli is shown speaking with Carpaccio in his lab. Carpaccio is offscreen, and the player isn't supposed to know it's him yet, but his leitmotif is playing during the cutscene.
- Man of Wealth and Taste: He's always seen wearing a fancy purple tux. Carpaccio's description in the coffee-table book says that his suits come from the best tailors around.
- One-Winged Angel: He transforms himself into a giant spherical monstrosity at the end of the fourth episode in order to fight Wario.
- Racing Minigame: He challenges Wario to a rigged race during his second encounter with him, knowing that he can't beat Wario in a fight.
- Swallowed Whole: Does this to Wario after transforming at the end of Episode 4. The Boss Battle takes place inside of his "Head Honcho" form.
- Villainous Breakdown: Was already losing his composure after being beaten by Wario a second time, but when it becomes clear that the Wishstone is almost reassembled he panics and starts taking extreme measures to try and stop Wario.
Poobah the Pharaoh
- Deal with the Devil: He agreed to starve his subjects in exchange for a wish from Terrormisu. She opted to destroy his kingdom instead.
- Dishing Out Dirt: He can somehow eject boulders out of his nostrils.
- Eye Pop: When he's vulnerable and after he's defeated, his eyes grow huge and pop out of his head.
- Invisibility: He turns invisible during the last part of his boss fight. Like every other invisible thing in the game, he can be seen by Genius Wario.
- Laughing Mad: When Wario encounters him, he's clearly gone nuts and is prone to giggling.
- Nepharious Pharaoh: When he was alive, he was very greedy and was willing to starve his people under the assumption that Terrormisu would grant his wish for it.
- Prehensile Hair: Prehensile nose hair, no less. After taking damage, Poobah tries to jab Wario with his long, pointed nose hairs.
- Strength Equals Worthiness: Poobah challenges Wario to a fight because he wants to know if he is worthy of the Wishstone.
- Big Bad: To the surprise of everybody except Goodstyle and Carpaccio, she had been sealed away within the Wishtone since ancient times, and was only able to communicate with Wario by creating an illusion of herself. When Wario reassembles the Wishstone, she breaks free.
- Big Beautiful Woman: Looks like a much stouter Princess Peach and is very beautiful... Until her mask falls off that is.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She appears to be innocent and cheerful, but her true colors are shown once the Wishstone is complete.
- Bright Is Not Good: Looks like a beautiful princess, but she gets a kick out of destroying civilizations and corrupting men.
- Butter Face: Turns our her real face is... Homely to say the least.
- Clipped-Wing Angel: In the fourth and final phase of her boss fight, she does absolutely nothing and dies in one hit.
- Deal with the Devil: She struck one with Poobah the Pharaoh, with Terrormisu being the devil. The deal was that Poobah would starve his people in exchange for a wish. Poobah agreed, but instead of granting the greedy pharaoh's wish, she destroyed his kingdom, turned his palace into a pyramid, and buried it beneath the desert sand.
- Edible Theme Naming: Tiaramisu is a portmanteau of "tiara" and tiramisu, an Italian dessert. Same deal with Terrormisu, except with "terror" instead of "tiara."
- Evil All Along: She pretends to be an ally of Wario, but she's really just manipulating him into setting her free.
- Mask of Power: She has three of them, which she uses during her three-phase boss battle. Each mask represents a different emotion - for the first phase, she uses a blue "sad" mask. For the second phase, she uses a white "happy" mask. For the third phase, she uses a red "angry" mask. Her final phase shows her true face, which looks like a comical corruption of Princess Peach's.
- Mythology Gag: She bears a strong resemblance to Princess Peach, particularly in her later appearances in which she wears a pink dress instead of her usual red one.
- Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Her true name, Terrormisu.
- Pink Means Feminine: She wears a pink dress after being released from the Wishstone.
- Playing with Fire: Her third form is fire-themed.
- Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: Its implied Terrormisu could keep fighting Wario after he beats her, but she is just too angry and embarrassed after losing to him to continue and quickly flees in frustration.
- Sealed Evil in a Six Pack: Long ago, she was sealed inside the Wishstone, which was split into five pieces.
- Sequential Boss: Three phases, not counting the Clipped-Wing Angel bit at the end.
- Shock and Awe: She has the power to summon lightning bolts, which she uses to attack Carpaccio. However, she never does this during her boss fight.
- Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: Even if the other villains in the game weren't a bumbling thief and self-absorbed Corrupt Corporate Executive, Terrormisu would still stand out as an especially dark villain given she is literally a demon who brought an entire kingdom to ruin and intends to do the same to the rest of the world.

WarioWare, Inc. Employees
Full name Jimmy Thang. Jimmy is one of Wario's oldest employees at WarioWare, Inc. He's a cool cat with a passion for disco dancing and a massive afro, just like the rest of his family.
- Alliterative Family: Jimmy's brother and sister are named James and Jamie respectively.
- Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: His mustache is shaped like musical notes, which is fitting for a dancer.
- Camp Straight: Jimmy comes with all the usual tropes of disco dancers, even having his own aerobics program in D.I.Y, but he's a notable ladies' man.
- Chick Magnet: His opening in Gold shows he's quite a hit with the ladies. Subverted in that they were just interested in the cat in his hair.
- Childhood Friend: Is rumored to be this to Wario.
- Cuteness Proximity: In Gold when the girls who have been taking pictures of him during his set reveal that they've actually been taking pictures of the cute cat that snuck its way onto his afro, this is his reaction.Jimmy: Huh? Awww, kitty.
- Demoted to Extra: Downplayed. While Jimmy does have his own stage in Smooth Moves, he does not have any of his own microgames in said installment. Instead, his stage compiles microgames from previous stages.
- Disco Dan: He's the disco master of Diamond City.
- Family Man: Is shown to be very close with his family, dancing with them in two appearances.
- Funny Afro: His afro is so big that it's used as a landing pad for flies.
- Gag Nose: It's actually similar to Wario's, but red instead of pink.
- Graceful Loser: When he discovers that the two girls who came up to him are actually taking pictures of the cat that jumped into his afro, he takes it well and decides to take the cat with him.
- Gratuitous Disco Sequence: His cutscene intros before his microgame marathons feature this. Taken Up to Eleven when his family joins him in the sequels.
- Head Pet: The kitty that takes shelter in his afro in Gold.
- Kindhearted Cat Lover: In Smooth Moves, he gives a kitty his umbrella so it won't soak in the rain, then he grooves all night with an entire litter of them. In Game & Wario, he's briefly seen walking alongside two cats in the intro movie. In Gold, a kitten hops into his afro without him noticing, and he lets him stick around after discovering that the cat gets a lot of attention from the ladies.Jimmy (after completing his stage in Gold): What can I say? I love myself a little feline.
- Odd Friendship: How he became friends with somebody like Wario is a Riddle for the Ages.
- Sunglasses at Night: He never takes them off, especially not when clubbing all night.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Hates flies getting into his hair.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: It's actually a wig. He dons red and yellow afros in the original for his remix levels.
An energetic high school student from Diamond City, Mona works a variety of part-time jobs around town, including for WarioWare, Inc. She's also a cheerleader and the bassist in an amateur rock band, and owns a cool red scooter.
- Adventurer Archaeologist: Implied. Mona has explored a temple in D.I.Y and has even stated in the manual of the first game that Wario takes her with him on his treasure hunting adventures. though aside from D.I.Y, we never actually see her treasure hunting nor alongside Wario. Gold also says she aspires to be a real treasure hunter, which is apparently the reason she admires Wario.
- All Girls Want Bad Boys: Her interest in Wario supposedly comes from the fact that he's "wild".
- All There in the Manual: According to the website for the original WarioWare, her mom is a world-travelling fashion model who rarely sees her and her dad is a Reclusive Artist. It's even referenced again in the Japanese Smooth Moves website where she relates with how lonely Ashley is.
- Dude Magnet: A football player in Smooth Moves ends up having eyes for Mona (It's even implied that he only joined his football team for the sole sake of impressing her), and Gold reveals Mona is quite the hit with the guys, attracting a lot of boys to Club Joe after showing off her dance moves.
- Everything's Better with Monkeys: The headset-wearing monkey that flings Banana Peels at cops to keep them from arresting her in the first WarioWare game.
- Fiery Redhead: She's a very energetic character with multiple jobs and hobbies.
- Foil: Mona is one to Wario, being his opposite in many areas. Wario is fat, greedy, rude and not conventionally attractive while Mona is a Nice Girl who's definitely slimmer and easier on the eyes. Wario owns a chopper motorcycle, Mona owns a little scooter. Wario has a hobby (adventuring to seek out riches) and one job (running a game company) that he's too lazy to do properly, Mona has had several jobs (pizza delivery girl, rock star, cheerleader, etc) that she always tries to arrive on-time for and do her best at.
- Genki Girl: She's peppy, cute, and a go-getter.
- Lonely Rich Kid: She's the daughter of both a model and an artist, and is wealthy enough to own a mink coat. That said, her folks aren't usually around.
- Morality Pet: Subverted. You'd think Mona having a crush on him would stem his greedy tendencies, but Wario is more than willing to rip her off just like everyone else. He does still think she's "cute", as shown by his level 3 clear intermission in the first game.
- Ms. Fanservice: Downplayed, but is noticeably the most voluptuous girl in the cast and has a lot of different outfits that are form-fitting and expose her shapely legs. Her archaeologist costume in DIY even exposes some of her cleavage. Further downplayed in Gold where her clothing has become more conservative and her shapely figure has been toned down, though she is still the curviest girl around and now gets an entire level dedicated to her changing clothes.
- New Job as the Plot Demands: She's been a gelato worker, a pizza delivery girl, a bandleader, a cheerleader, an explorer, an expert paparazzi... Gold actually averts this for once, as her story is just about trying new dresses in Joe's boutique for a party.
- Nice Hat: She owns a variety of distinctive headgear, with her biker helmet being the most recurring headgear.
- No Accounting for Taste: Mona, for reasons unknown to man or beast, thinks Wario is "way cool" (the Japanese version even has her referring to him as "oujisama"!). That said, she does acknowledge that he's incredibly greedy, as seen in the first game when Wario tries to take off with all of their money. She still thinks he's cool, though, with her intro scene in Gold having her gush about his fashion sense and mustache to a bewildered Joe.
- Pimped-Out Dress: Her Microgame set in Gold has her trying out a series of dresses, a new one with each game completed, with the final dress being the most extravagant.
- Precocious Crush: She apparently has a crush on Wario (of all people). It should be noted that Mona is a high school student while Wario is a grown man.
- She's Got Legs: A number of her outfits have her slim legs exposed.
- Tomboy with a Girly Streak: She's stated to be a spunky tomboy, but has also shown a clear interest in more feminine things and has no problem wearing dresses. Her level in Gold is all about her finding the perfect party dress, trying a different one on every time a microgame is completed (unless you fail one, then she briefly wears a shoddy tracksuit, not looking the least bit pleased).
- Vague Age: Is supposedly in high school, but looks and sounds much older. Whether or not she is actually a teenager or an adult who has just been held back a lot is never clarified.
Dribble & Spitz
A bulldog and cat, respectively, who work as cab drivers in Diamond City when not designing microgames for Wario. Dribble is a hot-heated speed freak, but Spitz's cool head keeps him out of trouble. They have a souped-up taxi cab that can even fly in outer space.
- Barefoot Cartoon Animal: Spitz wears no footwear, unlike Dribble.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Even Spitz's cool head has its limits, as shown in Gold.
- Big Guy, Little Guy: Dribble respects Spitz greatly, the latter being the boss. However, Dribble is always the guy who cheers/laments during microgames.
- Brooklyn Rage: They both have the typical Noo Yawk accents for taxi drivers in media, but Spitz has a temper simmering under his surface that gives him the drive to wipe out two opposing armies in he and Dribble's set in Gold.
- Bully Bulldog: Subverted. Dribble is a bit gruff, but he's a pretty nice guy for a cab driver.
- Cats Are Mean: Also Subverted. Spitz is also rough around the edges, but nowhere near mean.
- Cool Car: Their taxi is a tricked-out monster truck. And it can turn into a spaceship too.
- Demoted to Extra: They don't get a microgame set in Touched, so their only role is retrieving Mike at the end of his scenario. They go back to hosting a set in Smooth Moves.
- Drives Like Crazy: Dribble is stated to be a speed demon. You can definitely see traces of this in some minigames, such as Gold's "Cruise Controls".
- Eyes Always Shut: Spitz, though occasionally subverted in some games.
- Funny Animal: They're a cat and a dog who get along pretty well.
- Geek: Their minigames are often sci-fi themed. In fact, science fiction is Spitz's hobby, which probably rubs off on Dribble.
- Goggles Do Nothing: Spitz wears a pair that he never actually uses for anything. Gold's cards reveal that they're actually bath goggles, so in hindsight, he can't do much with them anyway.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: A cat and dog pair working a taxi gig.
- Hidden Depths: The dolls of Spitz inside the taxi were made by Dribble. He also takes up an interest in sewing in general.
- Hypocritical Humor: After their stage in Gold, Spitz talks about staying cool... even though he flipped out in the intro cutscene. Lampshaded by Dribble.
- Lions and Tigers and Humans... Oh, My!: They're both anthropomorphic animals who live alongside humans, aliens, robots, etc. just fine.
- Nerves of Steel: By default, this is Spitz. He keeps his cool even when, in Gold, a customer stiffs the duo and when they get lost in the middle of an intergalactic battle and teaches Dribble the importance of this trope... even after he lost it seconds ago.
- Rage Breaking Point: Spitz's temper is pretty level, even keeping his cool in Gold after a customer stiffed the duo on the bill, but once he's had enough he's had enough. As it turns out, getting their space-cab damaged by a stray laser was "enough."
- Real Men Wear Pink: Dribble's hobby is sewing, according to the Japanese Smooth Moves website and Gold.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Dribble is the red hothead contrasting with Spitz's blue coolness. This gets flipped in Gold when Spitz loses his cool.
- Running Gag: Their passengers tend to be supernatural. In fact, the supernatural nature distracts the duo to the point they realize they did not collect the fare.
- Seen It All: In their Gold stage, they've got so used to driving through space that they consider an intergalactic war as no worse than a nasty traffic jam.Dribble: Aw, not again!
- Theme Naming: They're named after various drool-based terms. It's also a reference to the pet food brand "Kibbles n' Bits".
- Top-Heavy Guy: Dribble, who is 90% upper body.
9-Volt is a little boy with a major love of all things Nintendo. He works at WarioWare, Inc. (Diamond City apparently having very lax child labor laws) designing microgames inspired by classic Nintendo products. When not fanning over Nintendo, he enjoys skateboarding.
- Adorably Precocious Child: He's still in elementary school, and he's already an accomplished game designer.
- Big Ol' Eyebrows: It's sometimes hard to make out due to his hardhat, but he has thick eyebrows. It's most noticeable in his design in Gold.
- Cat Smile: Only reinforces his age.
- Everybody Hates Mathematics: The conflict of his stage in Gold is that he's having trouble figuring out math problems.
- FaceHeel Turn: 18-Volt's stage in D.I.Y. Showcase shows 9-Volt as a villain, as a reference to 9-Volt leaving WarioWare to work for Diamond Software.
- Fanboy: Specifically called a "Nintendo Fanboy" in many of his descriptions, and the shoe fits.
- Geek: He knows all games retro to present.
- Good with Numbers: Despite hating math, 9-Volt is actually pretty good at calculating as long as the numbers are inserted into a video game context, like a Role-Playing Game. Fronk uses this to help him out in math class by telling him to just contextualize his schoolwork as an RPG in its own right.
- Heterosexual Life-Partners: With 18-Volt.
- Meaningful Name: His name comes from the operating voltage of the Nintendo Entertainment System, nine volts.
- Mr. Imagination: 9-Volt has a very hyperactive imagination, and "Gamer" is the result. Once the player clears his level, 9-Volt adds "By the way, my mum isn't this scary in real life. She's pretty cool most of the time."
- Nice Hat: A hardhat with flashing lights and a visor.
- Oh, Crap!: He has this whenever he sees his mom's angry face.

- Theme Naming: 9-Volt's mother is named 5-Volt, and his best friend is 18-Volt.

9-Volt's best friend and fellow hardcore gamer, 18-Volt is a comically huge elementary school student who looks like a grown adult. He's never seen without his green jumpsuit and 3D glasses.
- A Day in the Limelight: In D.I.Y. Showcase and Gold, he has his own microgame collection. Arguably, this also happens in Smooth Moves.
- Ambiguously Brown: 18-Volt's skin is noticeably darker than the rest of the (human) cast's. The art for "Gamer" in Game & Wario also shows that his hairstyle is supposed to emulate tied cornrows.
- Ascended Extra: Started as 9-Volt's "Player 2", but nowadays can stand on his own.

- Otaku: Like 9-Volt, he's a huge Nintendo fan. Also, he apparently listens to anime soundtracks, according to Gold.
- Tiger Versus Dragon: Gold uses this motif for his duel with 13-Amp, with him as the tiger.
- Younger Than They Look: He looks like an adult, but is actually just a massive 9-year old fourth grader.
9-Volt's mother, who discourages her son (and 18-Volt) from playing too much video games and focus on school. She goes on to host microgames of her own in Gold; like her son, she focuses on classic Nintendo games.
- Absurdly Youthful Mother: She doesn't look very old, for a parent. This could be a case of Generic Cuteness.
- Almighty Mom: She can be scary, to say the least. She also acquires Super Strength at the end of her stage in Gold.
- Ascended Extra: She appeared from the knees down in Twisted! and as a silhouette in Touched! before Game & Wario gave her a full model, and she goes to host her own set of microgames in Gold.
- Charles Atlas Superpower: After only a few minutes of exercise, she can lift a massive kitchen cabinet with one arm. Which she translates to lifting the blasted television set, stand and all, in "Sneaky Gamer".
- Death Glare: Gives one if she catches 9-Volt in bed playing games.
- Determinator: She will stop at nothing to make sure her son is sleeping properly.
- Distracted by the Sexy: In Gold, she realizes that she needs to cook dinner since her son will be home soon, but decides to watch more TV when Mr. Sparkles comes on.
- Dub Name Change: Called 5-Watt in Japanese.
- The Faceless: Up until Game & Wario.
- Firemen Are Hot: Her husband is apparently one of those.
- Gamer Chick: She used to be one of these before she largely gave it up to raise a family. Apparently, she still got it since in Gamer's intro cutscene in Game & Wario, she's revealed to have beaten her son's high score by a massive margin while she confiscated his handheld. And she's embarrassed about it.
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: 5-Volt's eyes glow yellow while she's watching her son in "Gamer". If she sees 9-Volt playing his game while her eyes are glowing, it's game over.
- Good Parents: 5-Volt acts like any responsible parent would: She takes 9-Volt and 18-Volt's game away and refuses to give it back until they finish their homework. She does her best to keep her son from playing games while he should be sleeping (i.e: scaring the living daylights out of him and the players).
- Hidden Depths: She can outclass her own son at video games, something she's very embarrassed of. She was just as much of a gamer herself in her youth, and she said in Gold that her minigames are based on the Nintendo Classics she enjoyed as a kid.
- Humanoid Abomination: Portrayed this way in "Gamer", thanks to 9-Volt's "feverish imagination". Outside of that, she looks just as cute as the rest of the cast.
- I Was Quite a Fashion Victim: Implied. Game & Wario states that she used to have a "crazy hairdo".
- Muscles Are Meaningless: After her stage in Gold, she's able to lift a heavy cabinet with one arm, even though she doesn't look any more muscular than she did before her workout. As such, she can also lift the entire television stand, TV included, in "Sneaky Gamer".
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: Her methods of checking up on her son at night in Game & Wario embody almost every possible horror trope and will surely scare the shit out of you. It's only so he doesn't stay up late since he has school the following morning, so she means well, but some of her methods definitely go too far and would certainly wake him up, like smashing through his window. Though, the disclaimer for "Gamer" states that it is born out of 9-Volt's feverish imagination and 9-Volt states that 5-Volt is not THAT scary in real life.
- Promoted to Playable: Gets her first microgame set in Gold, over a decade after her first appearance.
- Reality Warper: One of her abilities in "Gamer" is emerging from the TV screen like it was a portal to another world.

- Surprise Creepy: Her appearance in Gamer is a downplayed version. Her appearance in the gamemode is darker than other game modes, but her goal is to make sure 9-Volt goes to bed on time.
- Vague Age: While it's easy to tell how old 9-Volt and 18-Volt are using their names'(?) numbers, applying the same logic to 5-Volt would be horribly inaccurate, to say the least.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: All those freaky night terrors she's giving you in Gamer? They're only for making sure her son doesn't stay up late before a school day.
A Mad Scientist, Dr. Crygor busies himself with bizarre but mostly benign experiments on his private island base outside Diamond City. He's replaced most of his body with cybernetic prostheses for some reason and dresses like a superhero. Dr. Crygor is assisted in his lab by his energetic robot, Mike, and his cute granddaughter, Penny.
- Badass Cape: Dons one in Smooth Moves.
- Bald of Awesome: Prior to getting a full cybernetic head implant.
- Butt-Monkey: In Gold, Crygor just can't catch a break, be it in his scenario, Penny's or even the Dancing Team's.
- Camp Straight: Crygor is super flamboyant, but he still has a granddaughter and all.
- Cloudcuckoolander: To be fair, nearly everyone in Diamond City is one, but Crygor stands out. He built Mike, specifically made as a karaoke robot, to clean his laboratory.
- Cool Old Guy: He's an old Mad Scientist, but is more of a quirky fellow instead of an evil lunatic. He also claims to be supportive of his granddaughter's dream to be an Idol Singer in Gold, albeit somewhat reluctantly.
- Cyber Cyclops: Instead of eyes, he has a robotic visor that features a single red dot.
- Cyborg: A few of his limbs and part of his head have been replaced by robotic parts. This is to complement his suit, which has cryogenic properties, letting him live longer.
- Demoted to Extra:
- Downplayed. While Dr. Crygor does have his own stage in Smooth Moves, he does not have any of his own microgames in said installment. Instead, his stage compiles microgames from all microgame designers (Excluding Orbulon's, whose games require the Nunchuck).
- Played straight in D.I.Y.. Not only does he lack a stage in either version, but his only appearance in either is the beginning of the DS game.
- Ditzy Genius: His inventions are wacky and insane, but they have scientific basis.
- Fashionable Asymmetry: He only gains a full robotic mask during his introductory cutscene in Touched. Before that, it only covered one half of his upper face. The same goes for his arms and legs.
- Gadgeteer Genius: Dr. Crygor comes up with a new invention or two every game. He is also responsible for creating some of the other characters' belongings, like Wario's bike, Mona's scooter and Kat & Ana's swords.
- Gag Nose: Red and round, like a clown's.
- Half-Human Hybrid: After he fuses with an apple, he's a cyborg with apple DNA.
- Hollywood Tone-Deaf: Crygor is a terrible singer, much to his robot Mike's chagrin.
- Labcoat of Science and Medicine: He gets one in Game & Wario. Gold subverts this by giving him an outfit that looks like a lab coat at first glance, but is actually just one of his typical jumpsuits.
- Mad Scientist: A benevolent, but very eccentric example.
- Minor Major Character: While he doesn't appear in D.I.Y outside of the opening cutscene, he is directly responsible for the game's main gimmick of creating your own microgames via the Super Makermatic 21, an invention that he created.
- Mr. Fixit: Wario treats Dr. Crygor like this, looking for him whenever he needs some of his stuff fixed.
- Nice Guy: Mad Scientist tendencies aside he's a pretty nice fellow and very supporting of Penny. In WarioWare Gold he rescues his abandoned creation, Doris 1, from the forest even after she (understandably) flips out and chases after him.
- Really 700 Years Old: While he looks like a middle-aged adult, one of his character cards in Gold states he is over a hundred years old.
- Something About a Rose: He will often pull out a rose from nowhere when performing dance moves.
- Vague Age: He's said to be over a hundred years old in Gold. He's also stated to wear a cryogenic (thus his name) suit that supposedly slows down his aging, and the parts of his body that aren't covered by the suit simply get replaced with robotic implants.
After trying and failing to take over the world, Orbulon settled down in Diamond City, befriended Wario, and joined his minigame company. Orbulon travels through space in a pig-shaped starship called the Oinker, which he's not very good at driving, accompanied by his Alien Bunny minions. He has shapeshifting powers that he sometimes uses to pass as a human.
- Aliens Steal Cattle: In his case, he abducts pigs in Gold, due to misunderstanding that hamburgers are made with "hams".
- Alien Lunch:
- A strange variation in Gold. Orbulon loves Earth food, but his favorite things from here include frozen french fries and chili pepper milkshakes. Even stranger is that the local burger joint happily serves those to him as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
- He also brings a giant, blue, alien carrot (which he claims to be radioactive) for the potluck stage in the final league.
- And Now For Something Completely Different: When he has a minigame or microgame set, it tends to stand apart from the others in some way. Mega Microgame$ and Twisted both have his games be the only ones with double-length timers, his multiplayer game in Mega Party Game$ is the only cooperative game, he's the only one to use the Nunchuck in Smooth Moves, and he has the only multiplayer minigame out of the original Mega Microgame$ cast in Game & Wario.
- Big Eater: Even after eating the aforementioned chilly fries and chili shake in Gold, Orbulon still has enough space in his (alien) stomach for 10 mega-sized burgers.
- Butt-Monkey: Usually on the receiving end of some form of abuse in his cutscenes. In Touched! he accidentally runs into Ashley and almost becomes an ingredient for her potions. In D.I.Y. a bolt of lightning strikes his spaceship and drops him on a rocket that's about to be launched, all he can do is scream in panic during the post-boss cutscenes. In Smooth Moves the Balance Stone hits his spaceship and knocks him back to Diamond City in the Temple of Form, to complete the mess after picking the Form Baton and Balance Stone the temple launches into the sky with a panicked Orbulon trying to understand what he got himself into and then after he wins he tries to claim the Temple of Form as his own only to be violently denied by the Splunks living there.
- Cat Smile: It's more prominent in Gold.
- Cool Shades: They're much too big for his head, but they do look cool. He never takes them off.
- Demoted to Extra: A single-game case. He doesn't get a microgame set in Touched, but instead plays a small role in Ashley's story.
- Galactic Conqueror: Used to be one, but had a HeelFace Turn, though the cards in Gold claim he still wants to take over the Earth (he's just doing it really slowly).
- The Greys: Orbulon seems to be overall inspired by this particular depiction of extraterrestrials, although he is drawn in a way that makes him resemble a living bowling pin.
- Final Boss: Technically, in Smooth Moves. Orbulon is the last employee to be unlocked in that game and his stage wraps up the "story" of Smooth Moves.
- Literal-Minded: In Gold, he thinks (regular) hamburgers are made with "hams" (pigs), going off to collect some so that the fast food restaurant he frequents may "burger" them for him.
- Machine Monotone: In the games prior to Gold, he used Apple's built-in speech synthesis program for his voice.
- Really 700 Years Old: He's said to be 2,003 years old in Mega Party Game$! (which was released in 2003) and 2,018 years old in Gold (which was released in 2018), which means he was born in the year 0.
- Running Gag: Every time in the series (excluding Twisted which involved decoding a password, Touched in which he didn't have a level and Gold where he's looking for pigs to make hamburgers) Orbulon has hosted microgames have involved him ascending somehow, with him descending every time the player failed a game and dropping Orbulon back to where he started when the game is over. And since microgames keep going endlessly until the player loses...
- The Smart Guy: Orbulon has an IQ of 300 and all his minigames involve puzzles.
- Took a Level in Kindness: He was a lot more arrogant in Mega Microgames and Twisted, believing himself vastly superior to anyone around him (especially earthlings) and was the only character not to congratulate the player in the first game. Come Gold however he has gotten much more polite and has completely dropped the aliens are superior to earthlings shtick (perhaps he caught on that he himself is quite the bumbler).
- Voice of the Legion: A non-villainous example. His voice always has a funny echo to it.
- Voluntary Shapeshifting: Utilizes shapeshifting powers to disguise himself as a human at times.
- Your Size May Vary: His height relative to his ship and the rest of the cast is not consistent between games, or indeed, within the same game. Then again, he can shapeshift.
Kat & Ana
A pair of twin ninjas-in-training who attend Diamond City Kindergarten, Kat and Ana are Wario's youngest employees. Kat, the older, can be bossy and overbearing, but she still loves her gentle younger sister. Both are very polite and love nature.
- Action Girl: They're ninjas.
- Assist Character: In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where they repeatedly slash across the stage in a crisscrossing pattern upon emerging from an Assist Trophy.
- Badass Adorable: They're kindergarteners who tackle evil ninja-style.
- Badass in Distress: In Mega Microgame$!, Ana gets held captive along with the possessed player after she and other ninjas failed to take down Boneheads.
- BFS: Kat uses one in the first game. Plus, their katanas seem to be as large as they are. Granted, they're only six.
- Big Eater: Both of them eat their way through several sushi dishes in Gold, thinking it was a ninja test.
- Big "WHAT?!": After learning the test they were taking in Gold was actually a gourmet test.
- Conservation of Ninjutsu: Played straight, especially in the first game, where Ana + a pack of Red Shirt Highly Visible Ninja get a Total Party Kill for their efforts while Kat defeats the demon that beat them singlehandedly. (Granted, with her dog that turned into a sword)
- Cute Bruiser: Kat, who is able to effectively wield a giant sword.
- Fiery Redhead: Ana inverts this with Shy Blue-Haired Girl. Interesting, her outfit is primarily blue.
- Friend to All Living Things: These girls are very quick to befriend the animals they run into, especially if they're cute, usually giving these animals a red scarf as a sign of that friendship.
- Gratuitous Japanese: Several phrases they said in the earlier games were in Japanese. Since Smooth Moves, they shout things like "Katana" and "Ninjitsu". Good luck knowing what microgame you're on in their section the first game if you can't read Japanese numbers.
- Little Miss Badass: Kat single-handedly defeated a demonic skeleton samurai in the first game. That's pretty badass.
- Ninja: Ninja kindergarteners, at that. Kat and Ana are really quite good at the ninja tricks, enough to stand against an angry oni by themselves.
- Punny Name: Put their names together and you get "katana". Also, their names can also reference that Kat likes cats and Ana likes flowers.note Furthermore, ana and kata are Greek for "up" and "down".
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Kat's a bossy, impulsive go-getter. Ana's passive, thoughtful, and a little timid.
- Sibling Yin-Yang: Thematically. Just look at them.
- Terrible Artist: Yes, they are pretty good at the whole ninja thing, but their art looks like they are done by preschoolers.
- Theme Twin Naming: Punny Names; specifically, combining their names forms the word "katana".
- Voluntary Shapeshifting: In Smooth Moves, Ana transforms into four turtles.
- Wise Beyond Their Years: Ana especially. Kat, not so much.
- Worf Effect: Happens to Ana in the first game.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Kat's hair is pink, and Ana's is a bright shade of orange-red.
Ashley & Red
A young witch from Diamond City and one of Wario's employees. When not creating new microgames, Ashley spends her time brewing potions with her imp-like familiar, Red.
- American Kirby Is Hardcore: Ashley's Japanese theme is rather different from the American version. To give an example, the first line translates to "She's everyone's favorite person in the world!" and the song is about how everyone likes Ashley. Ashley also has a young, childish voice. In contrast, the American version is about how scary Ashley is. Ashley also sounds much more mature.
- The Apprentice: She is stated to be a witch-in-training several times, particularly in the NTSC-U description of her Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U trophy, with a story from the Japanese badge arcade confirming that she's a witch apprentice.
- Assist Character: In the Super Smash Bros. series.
- Berserk Button: Mess up her spells or bump into her, and she'll want you dead or in one of her potions.
- Big Eater: Her games in D.I.Y. are all based upon food, and her Gold trading cards mention this outright.

- Following the release of Game & Wario, Ashley has been extensively merchandised by Nintendo, having her own Nintendo 3DS theme and badges sets in Nintendo Badge Arcade, and appearing by herself in games like Band Brothers P and Super Mario Maker. The Japanese version of Nintendo Badge Arcade even introduces her as "by far WarioWare's most popular character." Her popularity has grown so much that she has even gotten to do crossovers with other franchises by cosplaying as other characters.
- Her popularity is alluded to in-universe in Gold, where dialing the code "CAFE" in one of the unlockable phones in the Toy Room will give a message where someone says putting an Ashley doll in his cafe lead to a rush of new customers. This doubles as a reference to Rhythm Heaven Megamix, which had a stuffed Ashley sitting on a desk in the rhythm museum.

- Cowardly Sidekick: Red is much more cowardly and reluctant to head into potential danger compared to his master.
- Creepy Child: Mostly Played for Laughs.
- Cute Witch: She's a young witch-in-training of Vague Age with Mega Twintails who spends her time learning spells and mixing things in her Magic Cauldron from her Haunted House. WarioWare: Smooth Moves clears away any doubt about what she is when she's depicted riding on a broomstick.
- Dark Is Not Evil: While she does study and use dark magic, has an interest in things considered to be macabre, and is not the friendliest individual out there, Ashley is depicted as being mostly harmless (unless angered or in battle, then she can become quite dangerous) who more or less seems to use and study witchcraft more for her own personal use than for any real villainous means and in Gold, she voluntarily saves the demon realm from starving under Lord Hum Gree and causes him to revert back to his old kind self with no real selfish intent in doing so.
- Dark Magical Girl: Ashley does not try to hide that she studies dark arts, but she also wants to be friends with people.
- Deadpan Snarker: She tends to be one in the west. Not so much in Japan though.
- Death Glare: Prone to giving this when she's angered, complete with Glowing Eyes of Doom.
- Defrosting Ice Queen: In a non-romantic example, Ashley is shown to be aloof and distant from the rest of the series cast in Touched!, Game & Wario and the Japanese website for Smooth Moves (in the former two, she just stands there while everyone is dancing at the end-of-game party and in the latter, she coldly tells off the other characters when they try to be supportive about her parental issues) but she is starting to come out of her shell as of Gold, as she's shown playing cards with everyone else in the Potluck Gang stage and the stage's ending cutscene implies she's actually enjoying herself.
- Does Not Like Spam: She does not like candy.
- Dub Personality Change: Downplayed, while her core characteristics are kept intact, the English localization downplays and removes many of her cuter and more innocent traits (Most notably her Third-Person Person speech) and puts more emphasis on the aloof and scarier aspects of her character, while making her more of an aloof Deadpan Snarker compared to how she's depicted in the Japanese versions.
- Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: Her default look as of Gold.
- Emotionless Girl: Downplayed, she isn't completely emotionless, as she is capable of smiling and can be prone to anger, however she doesn't express as much emotion when compared to the other more livelier characters.
- Eye of Newt: Her potions often need strange ingredients in order to work (up to the more potent recipes demanding people), and her song lyrics even mention this trope explicitly. Her first appearance saw Ashley deciding that Orbulon was the final ingredient for her potion, causing Red to try chasing the alien down.
- Familiar: Red is one to Ashley, although Ashley considers him more of a friend (a very close one even) than a servant.
- Girls Love Stuffed Animals: She sleeps with a rabbit skeleton doll.
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: When angry or about to cast a spell.

- Game & Wario cements the message for real. Her little info card says she wants to have friends.
- The Imp: Red is a shapeshifting one. He can turn into a broom or Ashley's staff.
- Insufferable Genius: Ashley is the resident sorceress with a sideline in potion brewing.
- Killing Intent: As seen in the below entry, Ashley does not appreciate getting knocked over. She scared Orbulon into running due to how much pain he was going to go through if he didn't.
- Little Miss Badass: Small, cute and very handy with magic. In Gold she defeats a giant gluttonous monster basically on her own.
- Looming Silhouette of Rage: In Touched!, after Orbulon accidentally bumped into her.
- Mega Twintails: She wears her hair in high pigtails about as large as her body.
- Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: The Crazy Galaxy April Fool's prank for Nintendo Badge Arcade has Ashley become a guitar player in her adulthood, who also attends "astronaut school". Which would make Ashley a guitar-wielding astronaut witch who also (used to?) program video games.
- Parental Abandonment: One of the Japanese blogs reveal Ashley's parents live elsewhere.
- Power Dyes Your Hair: Her hair turns white whenever she's about to deal some serious magical damage.
- The Quiet One: Ashley doesn't talk a lot (less obvious in the English translations, which replace some of Red's lines by new quips said by Ashley) and speaks in short, to-the-point sentence when she does.
- Rapunzel Hair: Ashley's hair reaches her knees and would likely touch the ground if they weren't held up as pigtails.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Her red eyes indicate you should tread carefully with her, lest you incur her wrath.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Ashley is the blue oni to Red's... red oni, being a lot more stoic and cold compared to Red, who by comparison is more energetic and kind.
- Sudden Anatomy: Red's Gold design features bat wings that he didn't have before.
- Third-Person Person: In the Japanese script of the games (most prominently Gold), Ashley talks in this manner.
- Took a Level in Badass: Ashley in Game & Wario is capable of shooting magic blasts from her hands and with enough spell orbs can unleash a spell that can destroy all enemies on-screen. This is all stuff that she has never done in previous games beforehand. Even the title artwork shows her under a more badass light than in most of her appearances.◊ Taken further in Gold, where she battles against a gluttonous demon lord several times her size and wins!
- Took a Level in Kindness: In Gold, Ashley volunteers to help the hungry demon she summoned eat by fighting Dark Lord Hum Gree, who has been eating everything in sight and causing him to starve.
- Vague Age: While she has no officially stated age in Japan, the Western website for WarioWare: Touched! states that she's fifteen, and she's regularly alluded to being as such in Western localizations by way of a teenage-sounding voice in both the English version of her theme song and WarioWare Gold). Crazy Galaxy◊ (a fictional game created as an April Fool's joke via the Nintendo Badge Arcade) stars an adult Ashley according to its description, but the only difference from her usual appearance is that she's slightly taller and has a new outfit.
- Voluntary Shapeshifting: Red can morph into Ashley's staff or broom at will.
- When She Smiles: She smiles a few times throughout the games.
- Wolverine Publicity: One piece of promotional art◊ for the game Tank Troopers has Ashley posing with the game's cast even though she doesn't actually appear in the game or its online comic.

A high-spirited cleaning robot built by Dr. Crygor using parts from a karaoke machine. Mike loves one thing and one thing only: music. He often rebels against his programming to have fun with karaoke.
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Once, while cleaning the lab, Mike went nuts, traveled to an alien planet, and held a karaoke tournament. He mellows out afterwards, but is still pretty uncooperative throughout the series.
- Arbitrary Skepticism: At the end of Crygor's scenario in Gold, Mike states that ghosts do not exist, despite occasionally hanging out with an alien, a witch and her imp companion (which actually happens later in the same game during the final league, when they all go camping in bigfoot-populated woods). This is sorta downplayed though as Mike is visibly frightened by the supposedly haunted Agate Forest, which points to him not being that sure about his statement.
- Demoted to Extra: After Touched!, Mike doesn't have much relevance other than being an important background character around Dr. Crygor and Penny. He does get to host a multiplayer minigame in Game & Wario, though. Gold finally brings back his mic microgames, though there's only five of them and he doesn't host a level on his own, instead serving as a curveball in the two Ultra League stages alongside Fronk.

- Troll: He deliberately puts Crygor on edge by sneaking up on him and pretending to sense ghost signals in Gold, telling him that he was faking it once they make it back to the lab.
- Turned Against Their Masters: He briefly leaves Dr. Crygor after hearing his bad singing. He gets over it, though, but if Gold is anything by, he still holds some slight contempt towards his creator.
Dr. Crygor's cute-as-a-button granddaughter, Penny loves her grandfather and wants to be a great scientist just like him, though she also wants to be a famous singer. She's just as skilled--and eccentric--an inventor as her grandfather.

- A Day in the Limelight: While Penny is normally a supporting character in the series, she became the Deuteragonist in D.I.Y as she is responsible for teaching the game's mechanics and is typically shown alongside Wario in official artwork for the game.
- Badass Bookworm: One of her character cards reveals that Penny's heart ornament is capable of shooting missiles.
- Cat Smile: Has a small one in Gold.
- Child Prodigy: She is only a middle schooler and she has already been shown to be a skilled inventor on par with her much older grandfather. Even beating him in a competition in Smooth Moves.
- Deuteragonist: She becomes second in importance behind Wario himself in D.I.Y.
- Deadpan Snarker: Downplayed, but she is shown to make sarcastic remarks towards Wario in D.I.Y. (Although as stated above, she tends to apologise if she actually makes him mad.)
- Dreadful Musician: While she is rather good at singing note , if the record-making tutorial is anything to go by, she is absolutely awful at composing music.
- Foil: She could be seen as one to Ashley. Both are young girls who have a desire to become famous, are incredibly passionate about their fields and both tend to subject their loved ones to their experiments, oftentimes unwillingly (Ashley with Red, Penny with her grandfather). However, whereas Ashley is a gloomy, aloof and reserved witch, Penny, by contrast, is a friendly, kind and upbeat scientist. Furthermore, while Ashley has an assistant that works alongside her via Red, Penny is shown to work primarily alone.
- Gadgeteer Genius: She is Dr. Crygor's granddaughter. Her story in Smooth Moves even has her participate in an "Invent-Off" against her granddad, which she wins.
- Genki Girl: She's a lot more energetic than her grandfather.
- Hidden Depths: Penny has a hobby of singing and wants to also be an Idol Singer when she grows up, but she prefers to keep it a secret, though she doesn't mind pulling out a mic in celebration every once in a while. In Gold, she blurts out to her grandfather that she invented the Tonally Transformative Elixir to help her become a singer and later puts her pipes to work in the Ultra League's Dancing Team level. To say it works would be an understatement, as a lot of people cheer for her.
- Innocent Blue Eyes: Has sky-blue in Gold, as opposed to her brown/black eyes from previous designs.
- Mad Scientist: She's got the scientist part down to the point where she's on par with her grandfather. As for the mad part... "All experiments are guaranteed to be 100% Not-Entirely Lethal". Granted she'd probably apologize profusely if anything did go wrong.
- Mad Scientist's Beautiful Daughter: Well, extremely cute granddaughter of the Mad Scientist Dr. Crygor.
- Meganekko: Befitting her cuteness and smarts. They're pretty big, to make her look extra cute.
- Messy Hair: Has gained this as of Gold.
- Ms. Exposition: In D.I.Y., she explains the basics of game, music, and comic creation to you and Wario.
- Nice Girl: She's very polite and none of her experiments intends to harm anyone. In WarioWare Gold the moment she notices her potion to enhance her voice starts to give Dr. Crygor stomach pains she gives him an antidote.
- Only Sane Man: Compared to the other characters, she is a lot more grounded.
- Tomboyish Voice: Her English voice is far raspier than her feminine Japanese counterpart.
Young Cricket & Master Mantis
Two travelers from faraway lands, Master Mantis and his protege, Young Cricket, roam the world in search of cool new martial arts poses to perform. Cricket also appears as a player character in Rhythm Heaven Fever's "Kung-Fu Ball" minigame.
- Amusement Park: Where they train during Gold by riding a merry-go-round.
- Big Eater: Despite being martial artists, all they ever seem to do is eat dumplings. Game & Wario shows that Mantis actually trains Cricket by making him eat dumplings.
- Bishōnen: In a series where every male character is weird looking, Cricket stands out due to actually being handsome.
- Bottomless Pit Rescue Service: Cricket can ride on a cloud if he misses an unrecoverable jump in Kung Fu.
- Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Eccentric though they may be, both are absurdly skilled martial artists, Mantis especially.
- Calling Your Attacks: Most of Cricket's dialogue involves him shouting "Dragon Crush!". Despite this, we never actually get to see the technique.
- Canon Character All Along: Cricket shows up in sister series Rhythm Heaven (Fever). He is one of the player characters in Kung-Fu Ball, but he's not identified as Cricket there, taking a Wario Ware Gold character trailer to confirm it.
- Chick Magnet: Gold shows Cricket is popular with women, gaining an admirer in Lulu and attracting a lot of women to Club Joe after showing off his dance moves.
- The Comically Serious:
Cricket: (Referring to the 'Precious Prancers' merry-go-round) I see. A trial like no other! I must step into the spinning stampede and tame these untamable beasts!Mantis: Prepare! Will you chase death? Or death, chase you!?
- Both of them (Cricket especially) come off as legitimately serious characters in their introduction. In reality, all they ever seem to do is obsess about eating dumplings to ridiculous levels.
- Gold paints them both as taking even the silliest things seriously, as Mantis takes Cricket to a funfair of all places to train. It doesn't take much to convince him the rides are special trials.
- Convection Schmonvection: In stage five of Kung Fu, Cricket needs to jump through lava plumes, but he will be just fine so long as he does not touch any of them.
- Eccentric Mentor: Most of Master Mantis' "instructing" amounts to making Young Cricket get him food. In Gold he tricks his student into taking him to a funfair by convincing him that it is a hardcore training ground.
- Fantastic Fighting Style: The two are masters of Wii Form Style, and are currently interested in Quick Switch Style.
- Goomba Stomp: Cricket does this to get to the front of the line in their story before being reprimanded by Mantis.
- Gross-Up Close-Up: Provided by Mantis when submitting your game design tests in D.I.Y..
- Growling Gut: As of Game & Wario, Cricket can't ever do training with an empty stomach. Clearly shown in the mentioned game where a cartoon version of a stomach indicates how much time he has before succumbing to hunger in his minigame.
- Gullible Lemmings: All it takes is a small amount of prodding from Master Mantis to convince Young Cricket that a funfair is a center for Training from Hell.
- Hot-Blooded: All of Cricket's lines have him screaming in a shrill voice.
- Kavorka Man: Mantis is apparently popular with women and even has his own fan club. However, his dance moves in Gold only help to keep the crowd away from Club Joe, in sharp contrast to Cricket's, which draw in hoards of adoring fangirls.
- Kiai: Most of Cricket's dialogue is mostly him screaming attack names. Averted in Gold, where he has proper dialogue in cutscenes. He still occasionally does the shouting, though.
- Ki Manipulation: Subverted by Master Mantis, who instead creates a dumpling.
- Miniature Senior Citizens: Mantis is about half the size of Young Cricket.
- Old Master: Mantis is a parody of one. He seems to be legitimately skilled, but he seems more interested in eating than training Cricket and uses training as a cover for going to an amusement park. To be fair, Cricket also seems more interested in eating.
- Perpetual Poverty: The source of their Big Eater status. They never have any money for food and are always starving.
- Real Men Wear Pink: Upon completing his "training" on the Precious Prancers merry-go-round, Cricket states he enjoyed riding the white pink-maned horse the most.Cricket: Nice horsey...
- Serious Business:
- Both of them take eating dumplings incredibly seriously, to the point where it seems to be all they do.
- They also think a funfair is a perfect place to train. At least, Mantis does. Cricket needs to be convinced that the rides and attractions will help him train.
- Shonen Hair: Cricket's whispy black hair lends itself to his 'anime hero' appearance.
- Shout-Out: To Kung Fu, appropriately, where "grasshopper" was a common term from a master to a student.
- Vocal Dissonance: Despite his Bishonen appearance compared to other male characters in the series, Young Cricket's voice is rather high-pitched and some of his voice clips seem to have voice cracks. Averted in Gold where he instead sports a deeper voice.
- Wizard Needs Food Badly: Cricket needs to eat a dumpling every five seconds to keep moving in his minigame in Game & Wario.
A yellow, square-headed, bespectacled(?) creature owned by 9-Volt. He started out as a background character before gradually getting more prominence and finally getting a supporting role in Gold. There are also a species of look-alikes that come in a variety of colors and make cameos in microgames.
- Ascended Extra:
- Gold features Fronk in a prominent role in his stage and the Ultra League stages, complete with a small microgame collection.
- Game & Wario also has the species featured in their own multiplayer minigame.
- Cartoon Creature: They certainly don't resemble any typical household pets.
- Dub Name Change: A delayed case. In Mega Microgame$, 9-Volt's pet was named Shag. As of Twisted, he was renamed to Fronk. Also, later localizations started calling the species Fronks until Gold, where they are now "mini Fronks".
- Older Than They Look: Parodied in Gold, where 9-Volt is surprised to learn that Fronk is a whopping one year old. "8-bit yoga" makes him look younger.
- Retraux: Fronk's design is meant to emulate blocky 8-bit sprites, so it's only natural that 9-Volt keeps him as a pet.
- Rush Boss: None of the Fronk microgames are particularly complex, but they all have extremely short timers; you either figure out what to do quickly or you lose a life. They randomly show up in the middle of other microgame sets in both Twisted and Gold, so you have to stay prepared for them.
- Vocal Dissonance: Fronk has a surprisingly suave voice.
Other WarioWare Characters
A dog who runs various industries in Diamond City. He appeared in the first game in the series and has remained a minor recurring character throughout. He also happens to be Mona's employer, which may explain why she's constantly changing jobs.
- I Have Many Names: Or rather, job titles. He's gone from Gelato Joe, to Pizza Joe, to Manager Joe, to Editor Joe. Now he's just Joe.
- Lions and Tigers and Humans... Oh, My!: Just your typical anthropomorphic dog owner of several businesses.
- New Job as the Plot Demands: He's seen in a different profession in every game, just like Mona. However, since he's the one running the businesses, it may be why Mona herself keeps changing jobs too.
The Thang Family
Jimmy's family, who are just as fond of disco as he is. It consists of Jimmy's parents, Papa T. and Mama T., and his younger siblings Jamie and James T..
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: They never appeared again after Touched.note
- Disco Dan: Just like Jimmy.
- Funny Afro: Every one of them, though Jamie's has pigtails and Papa T's looks more like Marge Simpson's hair.
- Gag Nose: Every single one of them has a red nose.
- Theme Initials: Jimmy and his siblings are all JT.
A mysterious little girl from Luxeville, who is attempting to retrieve an important golden relic that Wario stole from her village.
- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Lulu gets easily distracted during her preparations to take on Wario. Justified in that she's just a kid, so a short attention span is expected.
- Bag of Holding: She can fit anything she needs to carry in her ribbon.
- Big Damn Heroes: Shows up midway through the final stage to lend the player a hand by preventing Wario Deluxe from cheating further.
- Big Eater: One of the cutscenes featuring her has her "carbing up" to take on Wario.
- Big Ol' Eyebrows: They're as big as 9-Volt's.
- Blush Sticker: She has these.
- Cheerful Child: Lulu's pretty cheery when she's not thinking about dealing with Wario. In her cutscenes, she gets distracted by a rainbow she makes with her own water gun, feeds a little stray dog (and naps with him) and happily (also literally) sticks with Young Cricket.
- Cute, but Cacophonic: She's pretty cute, but you better steel your eardrums if she starts screaming.
- Distracted by the Sexy: This happens to her when she sees Young Cricket.Lulu: (clinging to his arm) Yeah, nice horsey! (giggles smittenly)
- Draw Aggro: What Lulu does in the final stage of WarioWare Gold. While she tries to forcefully retrieve the Golden Pot from Wario Deluxe she also acts as a timely and much-needed distraction to prevent him from cheating.
- Hero Antagonist: Despite not being the main character, Lulu is the closest thing the series has had to a hero figure, and is rightfully trying to give Wario a lesson for stealing her village's belonging. The antagonist part is ultimately subverted when Wario turns out to be the genuine Big Bad of Gold and tries to cheat the player out of the prize money, leading Lulu to become the player's ally.
- Heroes Love Dogs: She befriends a dog (named Ruffington) at the park. The dog then accompanies her back to Luxeville in the epilogue.
- Kid Hero: The self-proclaimed "Hero of Luxeville".
- Little Miss Badass: Puts up a good fight against Wario Deluxe.
- Missing Child: Is mistaken for one by Young Cricket after he discovers her clinging to his arm at the end of his level.
- Mouthy Kid: Boy, does she have a thing or two to say to Wario.
- Multishot: Does one with her bow to lower Wario Deluxe's balloon and fight him.
- Pintsized Powerhouse: Capable of struggling with Wario, you know that guy that pummels monsters thrice his size with little to no effort.
- Potty Emergency: Applies to the whole of Luxeville: the whole reason Lulu went after Wario was that the treasure he stole is actually her village's only toilet. Subverted in that Luxeville bought a new toilet shortly after Lulu left.
- Pre Ass Kicking One Liner: Delivers a good one upon showing up to retrieve the Golden Pot and aid the player against Wario Deluxe.Lulu: Fun's over! I'm taking back what's mine!!
- Precocious Crush: Takes a liking to Young Cricket, who just sees her as a child, much to her dismay.
- Spanner in the Works: Although she made her presence known to Wario he didn't take her seriously. This comes to bite him in the back as Lulu appears in the final level to personally deal with Wario and help the player.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: In The Stinger, it's revealed that the people of her village had ordered a new, modern toilet while she was gone, making all her efforts pointless.
- Tomboy with a Girly Streak: She might be a hotheaded fighter, but she also loves rainbows and cute animals like your typical little girl.
- Tomboyish Voice: In the English dub.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Slabs o' fried meat and extra-nutty cookies.
- Vague Age: She's seemingly the same age as Kat and Ana, but is as big as 9-Volt.
- Water Guns and Balloons: Her main "weapon" is the Hydrocannon XL, which is just a toy water gun. A good jet from it is what knocks the Golden Pot off Wario's head.
- Youthful Freckles: Combined with Blush Stickers for maximum cuteness.
A young female rapping phenomenon, who acts as the opponent in 18-Volt's Microgame set, with the two having a rap battle over a kid's game that she took in a previous rap battle.
- Graceful Loser: She takes her loss against 18-Volt pretty well, and honors their agreement by giving the kid's game back. She's also just surprised that 18-Volt beat her despite being only 9 years old, but not sore.
- Meaningful Name: The number in her apparent nickname may or may not be her age, just as 9-Volt's and 18-Volt's.
- Rapunzel Hair: Her hair goes down to her feet.
- Worthy Opponent: She considers 18-Volt to be one by the end of his set.
A reporter who frequently works on the news in Diamond City.
- Small Role, Big Impact: Only appears shortly in a handful of cutscenes, but it was his report on Pyoro selling well that inspired Wario to make his game company.
Dark Lord Hum Gree
A large gluttonous demon lord famous for his insatiable hunger. Ashley takes him on in order to help a demon she summoned.
- Beat the Curse Out of Him: Ashley defeating him cures his Horror Hunger, now all he desires is a big hug.
- Big Eater: He eats, and eats, and eats. Did we mention he eats?
- FaceHeel Turn: His character card reveals he used to be nice, but then was consumed by darkness and become a gluttonous horror. Ashley helps him return to normal.
- Horror Hunger: Hum Gree cannot stop eating, and nothing can ever satisfy him. Ashley ends up curing him by the end of her story.
- Incidental Villain: His insatiable hunger results in other demons starving, such as Ashley's demon friend.
- Punny Name: His name is meant to sound like the word "hungry", which is very fitting given his Big Eater tendencies.
- Tragic Monster: His character card says he wasn't always hungry. Hum Gree was consumed by darkness and wishes to be defeated in order to be who he was before.
A robot maid who was abandoned by her creator in the forest. Turns out her creator was Dr. Crygor, so when she was found by him and Mike, she recognises the doctor which leads to her chasing him down.
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: It doesn't take long for her to recognize Dr. Crygor and try to beat the shit out of him. Not that she's really in the wrong to...
- Broomstick Quarterstaff: She uses her mop to whack Dr. Crygor if the player messes up in the microgames and a lot if they game over.
- Cute Machines: She's at least cute when she isn't chasing Dr. Crygor with a murderous look on her face.
- Demonic Possession: The European and Japanese script implies that Doris-1 was being possessed by something when she attacked Dr. Crygor.
- Easily Forgiven: In the end, she's still taken back to Dr. Crygor's lab. Justified as Crygor was the one who abandoned her and he feels bad about doing so.
- Evil Sounds Deep: More like Anger Sounds Deep, as Doris' voice becomes far deeper when she's chasing Dr. Crygor.
- Machine Monotone: Speaks this way for the most part, but breaks out of it when she's screaming at Dr. Crygor.
- Nightmare Face: When she gets angry at Dr. Crygor her face becomes... freakish.
- Robot Maid: Her purpose.
- Volumetric Mouth: Gains an absurdly huge mouth when angry.
- "You!" Exclamation: "My creator... WAS YOU! YOU LEFT ME TO DIE!"
