    You
A kid with a science fair project who is dragged into a time machine against their will.
  • Accidental Time Travel: How you end up in your predicament, courtesy of a portal spawned by Jimmy's time machine. Though, you eventually learn to use portals to escape dangerous situations, though this frequently makes things go From Bad to Worse.
  • Bad Future: What you can find yourself in on one path. Plants have overgrown through Mexico city, evil robots have taken over an American research base, and mutant rats roam the streets of New York.
  • Bad Liar: The story you try to tell the castle's wizard isn't particuarly convincing, so much so, that he turns you into a newt for your lies.
  • Big Good: You're this in most paths where you make it far enough to have an impact, you can save the lives around you, such as rescuing a princess from her Abhorrent Admirer or a group of misplaced historical people from an angry caveman.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Some endings involve you surviving but being trapped in an unfamiliar land, destined to be in fear for the rest of your life of the dangers that surround you.
  • Cassandra Truth: Your attempt to tell the sheriff you're a time traveller ends up with you taken to a mental asylum. Unfortunately for you, you're actually correct.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: You can be Eaten Alive, killed in a joust, thrown to your death, murdered by plants, or crushed by an angry mammoth. Regardless of the way you die, you can be sure it's painful.
  • Death of a Child: Your fate if you fail to survive your encounters with different time periods.
  • Downer Ending: Some endings present scenarios that are bleak not just for you but for everyone else. Antartica's been taken over by robots hellbent on world domination, Mexico City's infested with killer plants, and New York is occupied by man-eating rodents. If you encounter these fiends, you're unlikely to make it out alive.
    • The one's that only affect you aren't much better. If you don't die horribly, you'll be trapped in terrible conditions for the rest of your life, with the only ending that offers you a chance at freedom involving you spending the rest of your childhood doing backbreaking prison labor.
  • Eaten Alive: This can be your fate at the hands of a sea serpent, mutant rat, or cat (when you're turned into a newt.
  • Fate Worse than Death: In one ending, you're made the spouse to a creepy alien, another involves you being hauled off to prison, destined to do hard labor until you're an adult. Alternatively, you could also be made a slave for life in the baron's quarry or be trapped in his dungeons until you die.
  • Flat Character: Compared to most of the twisted journeys protagonists, you don't have clearly defined motivations or plans, being thrown between hostile time periods until you make it to your home or grave.
  • Forced into Evil: If you go to the wild west portal, you're instantly recruited by a group of bandits for their train robbery. Fortunately, it's possible to break free from their scheme, though whether the outcome is any better is entirely debatable.
  • From Bad to Worse: Your situation tends to get more dire the longer you last, especially when you reach a bad future where the world's gone ass up. This is subverted in the Wild west setting, where things are a bit more stable, if still uncertain and dangerous.
  • Golden Ending: There's a few that fit this mold.
    • You can become incredibly wealthy due to a lint bomb an eccentric alien left you as a parting gift when he transported you back to the present time.
    • You can also become a traveller with him, exploring the solar system and all its wonders.
    • Last but not least, you can become the sheriff's deputy, helping him fight crime whereever it is. While the last two endings don't return you home, they give you some fantastic opportunities unavalible in your original timeline.
  • Kid Hero: As per usual for the series, you're a school student dragged into a series of adventures where your choices can change the world for the better.
    • in one of the endings, you can even become the sheriff's deputy, helping him fight crime throughout the wild west.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: What you're mistaken for and what you can become if you make the right choices.
  • Made a Slave: If you continue trying to fight the Baron when he's knocked down, he'll get the last hit in and have his men haul you off to his rock quarry.
  • The Many Deaths of You: You can be crushed to death by wild animals, eaten by mutant rats or a hungry cat (after being transformed into a newt,) torn apart by killer plants, poisoned by robots, or chucked dozens of meters by an angry caveman.
  • Odd Friendship: With Princess Genevieve, if you bring her along with you to the present time.
  • Oh, Crap!: Your initial reaction when you encounter a hungry T-rex. Things only become more dangerous from there.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: You can do this to avoid participating in a joust. Given who your opponent is, this is a wise choice.
  • Stylistic Suck: Your science fair project about the mating habits of earthworms is underwhelming, to say the very least.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Some endings involve you pretty much asking for it. Such examples involve antagonising a hostile caveman several times your size or directly fighting people who have made it clear that they're not to be trifled with.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Hotdogs, specifically the ones the Russians are baking in their base.
  • Uncertain Doom: It's not known if you survive your encounters with the wizard and dinosaur if they're unleashed on your school.
    • The same goes if your escape pod runs out of oxygen, as it's never stated if you managed to get to one of the shelters before you freeze to death.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: You can inadvertedly unleash an angry wizard onto the world, a world he intends to conquer due to not inviting him with you.
    • You can also do this with other dangerous creatures, such as a hungry T-Rex and a frenzied mammoth.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Jimmy loses it with you if you destroy his machine, either by accident or on purpose.
  • Worth It: Your reaction if Jimmy starts attacking you for destroying his machine.

    Jimmy Noseleather
The son of a famous scientist who made a time machine.
  • All for Nothing: His machine can be broken by you in some of the endings. While he may be able to make another time machine, he's not happy with you for destroying his prized work, as it means he can no longer use it to win the science fair.
  • Child Prodigy: He's very young and already an incredibly bright kid.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: His time machine which was meant to earn him recognition at a science fair can end up destroying his life.
  • Insufferable Genius: He's incredibly intelligent, and rather arrogant. In fairness to him, he has earned the right to take pride in his work, yet it does little to excuse his unpleasant personality.
  • Nerd Glasses: Part of his appearance, and a representation of his personality.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: His glasses highlight how brainy he is, and contribute to his dweeby appearance.
  • Uncertain Doom: It's not certain if he's killed by the dinosaurs and mammoths that run loose through the school.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: His machine sets everything into motion and can potentially end in your death, and irreparable damage to the world.

    Princess Genevieve
A princess who is being married to Baron Leland against her will.
  • Arranged Marriage: To Baron Leland, a man she can't stand. Fortunately, she can be rescued from it.
  • Damsel in Distress: She's originally seen running away from Leland, searching for a Knight in Shining Armor to rescue her. This is slightly downplayed when it's revealed that she's helping the wizard in his studies, showing she doesn't just rely on others rescuing her to get by in life.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: She's trapped in what is soon to be a loveless marriage by a angry tyrant, with the wizard being her only friend. Depending on your choices, she can either become his assistant in magic tricks or a high school student having the time of her life.
  • Form-Fitting Wardrobe: Her dress clings to her quite snugly. This becomes apparent when she's dragged around.
  • Gilded Cage: She lives in the baron's castle and is essentially his prisoner. Fortunately, she's befriended the wizard, and now helps him in his experiments.
  • Ordinary High-School Student: What she can become in one of the endings. She couldn't be happier with the outcome.
  • Nice Girl: Unlike the wizard who can become hostile if wronged, she's a sweet and helpful young woman just trying to get through a series of difficult circumstances.
  • Pink Means Feminine: She wears pink and is a girly princess. Even in the present timeline that she escapes to, she still has a pink wardrobe.
  • Teen Genius: She's in her late teens and smart enough to help the wizard in his experiments.

    Baron Leland
An angry man who is set to marry the princess.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: To princess Genevieve. It doesn't help that he's far older and ruder than she is.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: To his own wizard. Despite all his many shortcomings, he doesn't murder anyone or attempt to take over the world if slighted.
  • Arranged Marriage: What he hopes to do with the princess. She's trying to do everything to stop this from occuring.
  • Asshole Victim: If he follows you to the present day, he's instantly arrested for threatening to cut off everyone's head. It's likely he won't have a fun time in jail.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He may be a pathetic tyrant, but he's a moderately skilled swordsman, even if he does get his butt kicked by a kid. He's still dangerous while winded, as he'll block your attacks and throw you in his quarry if you try to attack him when he's on the ground.
  • Duel to the Death: Him and you have one in an attempt to free the princess. Fortunately, nobody dies regardless of what happens in the fight, though you can be imprisoned in his quarry if you get carried away while fighting him.
  • Hate Sink: He's a cruel, pathetic loser who treats people like objects to be used and discarded.
  • Light Is Not Good: He wears bright green clothing and is a creepy, cruel man.
  • The Napoleon: He's a pint sized tyrant who uses intimidation to get his way, despite being nothing without his soldiers at his disposal.
  • Noble Demon: He may be cruel and ruthless, but he'll treat you well if you beat his knight in a jousting tournament.
  • Obviously Evil: A look at him should tell you he's probably not the nicest man alive.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He's fine with enslaving one or throwing them in a dungeon without an ounce of empathy.
