Game Characters

    In General
  • Added Alliterative Appeal: So far we have Andy the Apple, Claus the Clock, Margret the Mole, Felix the Fish, Melody the Moon, Bayley the Bee, Peter the Pumpkin, and Rory the Rabbit.
  • And I Must Scream: All of them are heavily implied to be possessed by Thomas, his best friend and his family, with Andy being possessed by Thomas himself, Melody and Felix being possessed by his son Louis and his daughter Isabella respectively and Marget inhabiting Kamryn, Thomas's wife, while Claus is possessed by Arthur King, Thomas's former best friend. Peter, on the other hand, is strongly hinted to be an in-game personification of the Big Bad. Likewise, Rory is possessed by Jeff.
  • Stepford Smiler: No matter what happens, they never stop smiling. Which makes it all the more disturbing when the world around them glitches out more and more while they just keep on smiling and smiling and smiling. In the separately released Halloween Episode on M36Games' channel, however, they are more capable of expressing other emotions through their faces.

Andy's Apple Farm Characters

    Andy the Apple
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/andy_the_apple.PNG
The protagonist. A happy little apple who loves to play games with his friends.
  • Anthropomorphic Food: He's a living apple.
  • Extreme Doormat: Andy seemingly just goes along with whatever his friends want, putting up little more than a token resistance when they do things like stealing his keys and forcing him into a dark, scary barn.
  • Nice Guy: He's extremely forthcoming and helpful, as shown when he helps Margret pick up the fruit she dropped and agrees to play with his friends, even when they steal from him.

    Claus the Clock
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/claus_the_clock.png
A sophisticated clock.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: He's a talking clock.
  • Hidden Object Game: His minigame has him play "I Spy" with Andy. It ends with him directing Andy to an axe, after which the game takes a hard nosedive into creepy.
  • Smart People Play Chess: When Andy asks him to play, Claus suggests a game of chess, to which Andy declines because he doesn't know how to play it.

    Felix the Fish
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/felix_the_fish.PNG
A mischievous fish.
  • At Least I Admit It: Admits he forgot to bring a present to Andy's party in the Christmas special.
  • But Thou Must!: Refusing to play his minigame will have him say, with a rather threatening tone, that you must not have heard him right and then glitch out while giving you a Nightmare Face. If you talk to him again afterwards, the only options are "Press [Y] for yes" and "Press [Y] for Yes".
  • Cannot Keep a Secret: When Andy asks what the prize for winning all the bonus stickers is, Claus at first tries to keep it a secret, but shortly after Felix blurts out that the prize is the key to Andy's home.
  • Carnivore Confusion: He's a talking fish and his favorite pastime and minigame are both... fishing.
  • Fearless Fool: Felix is this for a while in the Halloween Episode released on the developer's channel, acting brave amidst the worry and confusion of the others. At least, until things rapidly go off the rails...
  • Fishing Minigame: For his bonus sticker, you have to catch three fish in the lake. Once you're done with that, a corpse appears at the bottom of the lake, which you'll also have to catch if you want the game to continue.
  • Refuge in Audacity: "Trouble, schmouble. I've done worse things [than breaking into a house] before!"

    Margret the Mole
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/margret_the_mole.png
A mole who really likes fruit.
  • Berserk Button: Clicking her sprite twice during her minigame results in her disappearing until you clear it.
  • Informed Species: She's a mole, but she doesn't look like one. She looks more like a beaver.

    Melody the Moon
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/melody_8.PNG
A moon who loves playing music.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Unlike the other characters who are confirmed to be possessed by dead humans, it is unknown if any human possesses Melody. While interacting with her brings Isabella's memories, Isabella is seemingly still alive.
  • The Man in the Moon: Gender inverted. She's a female, anthropomorphic moon.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name is Melody and her minigame is a Rhythm Game.
  • Rhythm Game: Her minigame has you play "Twinkle, twinkle little star" by pressing the right keys at the right time.

    Peter the Pumpkin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/peter_84.png

A pumpkin that apparently has been living in Andy's barn.

  • Anthropomorphic Food: He's a walking, talking pumpkin.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He's actually the entity, inserting itself into the game to further toy with and torment Thomas. If you manage to win the tag game against it, it mockingly tells Thomas in an encrypted message not to call for help, since there's nothing him or anyone else can do about his predicament.
  • The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: Both when being chased and when chasing, Peter is noticeably faster than Andy in the tag game. He also always takes the optimal route to collect the pumpkins and to catch Andy, which makes escaping him near impossible.
  • The Dreaded: When he shows up at the end of the Christmas special, Andy is obviously not happy to see him again and begs him to leave him alone.
  • Giant Space Flea from Nowhere: Nothing in the game even hints at this guy's existence and Andy explicitly states that he doesn't know who Peter is when they meet in the barn. His minigame is also significantly harder, if not to say downright unfair, compared to the previous laughably easy minigames of Andy's friends. Since he is heavily implied to represent the entity itself, it makes sense that he wouldn't play by the rules.
  • Glamour Failure: While his first appearance in the main game is a little odd, he still largely fits into the game's world. But in the Christmas special, he drops all pretenses, showing up once again out of absolutely nowhere, unsubtly threatening Andy/Thomas to stop asking questions before donning first a Nightmare Face and then his true form and chasing Andy/Thomas through a maze.
  • Tom the Dark Lord: Peter is a fairly common name, and definitely doesn’t fit the avatar of an Eldritch Abomination who trapped an entire family inside a video game. Justified though, as he’s trying to blend in with the rest of the game.

    Baylee the Bee
A bee that appears at the fun faire in chapter 2.
  • Blush Sticker: Has rosy cheeks to go along with her bright and colorful appearance.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Appears with the other characters before and during the chase sequence with Peter in the Christmas special.

Rabbit Knight Characters

    Rory the Rabbit
The Protaginist of Rabbit Knight, the sole survivor of the mushroom infection.
  • Moon Rabbit: Downplayed. Rory can collect half-moon looking disc that he can use as projectiles against enemies and his sword slash is in the shape of a half-moon. The Infected Knight wields a scythe with a half-moon like blade and uses half-moon shaped projectiles as well.

    The Mushroom Kingdom
The antagonists of Rabbit Knight, the mushrooms that have infected Rory's home.

    The Infected Knight
A knight that used to be Rory's friend until he was infected by the mushrooms and serves as the final boss of the game.

Real Life Characters

Humans

    Thomas Eastwood
The game's developer.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/thomas_face.PNG

  • Abusive Parent: He blamed Isabella for the death of her brother, because she didn't manage to save him when they both fell into a lake. The secret Melody-cutscene implies he came to regret it, since it shows him (represented by Andy) going back to their house on Christmas eve and watching Isabella and Kamryn through the window, as well as the numerous error messages and secret messages claiming that "it wasn't her fault". Another secret cutscene in the Christmas special confirms this, showing that he went to the house that day to apologize and give Isabella a present.
  • Ax-Crazy: Claus' secret cutscene reveals he killed his best friend Arthur with an axe, after discovering his house had burned down. Subverted in the Christmas update, which shows that he honestly thought Arthur had burned his wife and daughter alive at the time, and after he calmed down, he was horrified by what happened and tried to resurrect him.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: The cutscenes that play whenever you beat a minigame as well as the secret cutscenes you get when intentionally breaking the game paint a rather grim picture of his life. His son Louis drowned after him and his daughter Isabella fell off the boat during a ride on the lake. Thomas blamed Isabella for what happened, which caused his relationship with both Isabella and his wife Kamrynn to fall apart. Thomas asked his best friend Arthur to look after Isabella and Kamryn for him, to which Arthur agreed. Shortly after Thomas' old house caught on fire, taking the lives of Isabella and Kamrynn as well. Driven insane by grief and jealousy over Arthur having grown closer with his wife than he liked, Thomas blamed Arthur for their deaths, chased him through the woods and ultimately killed him with an axe when Arthur insisted he was innocent. It's implied that Thomas made some kind of deal with a mysterious entity afterwards that somehow ended up trapping him (and possibly the spirits of his family and Arthur) in the game he was working on.
  • Deal with the Devil: It's heavily implied that Thomas struck a deal with some kind of malevolent entity, eitr to make sure the characters in his game were life-like enough to please his audience or out of regret when he killed Arthur after the deaths of Kamryn and Isabella.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: It's implied in his cutscene with Kamryn that he started drinking when Louis died.
  • Freak Out: Murdered Arthur at the end of a long Sanity Slippage ending with Arthur apparently killing Isabella and Kamryn.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Said by him verbatim after he kills Arthur.
  • Sanity Slippage: Went through a hefty one after the death of his son. It started with him descending into alocoholism and becoming an Abusive Parent to Isabella, which resulted in Kamryn divorcing him. Then becoming paranoid about Kamryn starting something with Arthur, who he had asked to look after his family. It eventually culminates in him murdering Arthur with an axe in a fit of delusional rage after the presumed deaths of Kamryn and Isabella tip him over the edge.
  • Starving Artist: His secret recording has him lament that none of his games have managed to get published so far and that Apple Acres, the game he's working on, is pretty much his last chance to make some money.

    Kamryn Eastwood
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kamyrn_face.PNG
Thomas' wife.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Thomas calls her "Kam" in the secret recording.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: She burned alive in her house, in a fire implied to have been started by the entity.
  • Get Out!: Tells this to Thomas verbatim when he won't stop putting the blame for Louis' death on Isabella.
  • Mama Bear: She's furious when Thomas keeps blaming Isabella for Louis' death and even throws him out of the house when he keeps insisting that Isabella could have done something to save Louis.

    Isabella Eastwood
Thomas' older daughter.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/girl_face.PNG

  • Ambiguous Situation: While it's likely she died in the same fire as her mom, one of the game's error messages spells out "she's not gone. she's still here" which may imply that she's not dead, but simply trapped like everyone else. She's also the only human character who doesn't have a secret obituary in the barn or even a 'missing' - poster like her brother. In one of the Christmas special's secret cutscenes it's confirmed she managed to wake up and leave the house before the fire reached her.
  • It's All My Fault: Says this word for word in both secret cutscenes when talking about her younger brother's death and her father leaving the family.
  • Survivor's Guilt: She blamed herself for Louis drowning in the lake, because she didn't do anything to help him. It doesn't help that her father flat-out agreed with her and kept insisting that she should have done something as the older sister.

    Louis Eastwood
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/louis_gray.PNG
Thomas's son who drowned during a boat accident.
  • Ambiguous Situation: The game seems to hint very strongly that he drowned. But unlike with all the other human characters, his secret obituary in the barn doesn't list his date of death after his date of birth and instead shows the date he went "missing". Thomas also claims to have brought him back in one of the Christmas special's endings.
  • Death of a Child: Him and his sister fell off the boat when they were out on the lake alone. She survived, he didn't.
  • Plot-Triggering Death: Him drowning in the lake leads to the chain of events that possibly ended in Thomas, his family and Arthur getting trapped in the game.

    Arthur King
A friend of Thomas', who looked after his family after Thomas and Kamryn divorced.
  • Ambiguous Situation: In his and Thomas' secret cutscene he claims he hasn't been getting close to Kamryn when Thomas asks him, but in another cutscene playing at Kamryn's house on Christmas eve, you can see a stocking with the letter 'A' hanging on the fireplace, implying he actually did. However, it's just as likely that Kamryn and him really were just close friends, and the stocking was Kamryn's way of thanking him for giving her family support during a difficult time.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: A blonde man who looked after Thomas' daughter and wife as a favor. Possibly subverted, as the secret cutscenes hint at him having started a relationship with Thomas' wife, but everything implies he genuinely cared for Kamryn and Isabella, and Kamryn may have divorced Thomas at the time.
  • Manly Tears: his sprite is shown visibly crying in fear during Claus' secret cutscene when Thomas chases after and corners him in the woods, clearly enraged and wielding an axe.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: He looked after Thomas' family when Thomas asked him to. As a thanks, he's blamed for Kamryn and Louis's deaths and murdered by Thomas.
  • Sympathetic Adulterer: Assuming he was seeing Kamryn, everything implies he was genuinely supportive of her after Thomas' Sanity Slippage.

    Jeff Eastwood
Thomas's brother, who worked with him on game development and created the game Rabbit Knight.
  • All for Nothing: His attempt to save Isabella fails and the Entity claims his soul.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: He took in Isabella after her father died, treated her like she was his own daughter, and tried to protect her from the entity. He was found by the entity and dragged into the game.

    Logan Eastwood
Thomas' great nephew, who discovered Andy's Apple Farm on Thomas' old computer many years later.
  • Audience Surrogate: He's basically a stand-in for the basic Andy's Apple Farm fan, having found the game by accident, having become fascinated by it and looking for clues as to what exactly is hidden within it.
  • The Voice: He talks at some points during his videos, but he never once shows his face, befitting his role as an Audience Surrogate.

Others

    The Entity
A malevolent being that may or may not be responsible for all the tragedies in Thomas' life.
  • Big Bad: Thomas claims he's been noticing it following him for a while and it's probably the thing that was on the boat with Louis and Isabella, meaning it is actually responsible for Louis dying. There is a heavy implication that it has intentionally ruined Thomas' life and trapped both him, his family and Arthur in the game to torment them forever.
  • Eldritch Abomination: The thing doesn't seem to have a solid form or a clear motive and it's heavily implied that it is currently inhabiting the game and causing most of the creepy glitches.
  • The Man Behind the Man: It was revealed in a secret in the game that he controlled Thomas to kill Arthur.
  • Slasher Smile: Whenever it's possessing someone, they'll gain an unnervingly wide smile. It also does this in the ending cutscene of chapter 1.

Alternative Title(s): Rabbit Knight
