Rabbit Knight is a Freeware game created by M36games.

The once peaceful land of rabbits has been overtaken by a parasitic mushroom plague. Its valiant knights have all fallen in the battle against the fungal enemy. Now it's up to Rory, a young rookie, to defeat the mushrooms and save what is left of his home.

The game acts as a sort of prequel to the second chapter of Andy's Apple Farm and is therefor a lot creepier than it appears at first. Aside from the frequent glitches disrupting the nostalgic Retraux, you can also find characters that aren't supposed to be here as well as secrets within the game that hint at something incredibly sinister going on behind the scenes.

The game is playable for free on itch.io.

Contains the following Tropes:

  • And Now for Someone Completely Different: If you collect every single half-moon in the game and can avoid getting killed instead of the boss room you're taken to a flashback of Isabella's where you play as her on the day she discovered her uncle's dead body.
  • And Then John Was a Zombie: No matter what you do, the game ends with the Entity overpowering Jeffrey, killing his body in the real world and trapping his soul in Apple Acres.
  • Apocalypse How: The entire kingdom of rabbits was infected with a parasitic mushroom that turns its victims into mindless thralls.
  • As You Know: One of the out of bounds secret is a letter from Jeffrey to his family in which he informs them and by extension the player that he took Isabella in after the fire that seemingly killed all the other members of her family and asks his wife and daughter to be kind to her.
  • Badass Adorable: Rory may be a rabbit and a rookie knight at that, but he's also the last bastion of defense the rabbit kingdom has against the mushrooms.
  • Downer Ending: None of the available endings are at all happy.
    • The normal ending isn't an ending at all, as you get an error message after you defeat the Infected Knight and are asked to start the game back up again. So in a meta way, you'll never be able to save the rabbit kingdom, just as in the real world Jeff fails to protect Isabella.
    • In the secret Peter/Entity ending, no matter whether you escape Peter/The Entity or not, Rory/Jeff is subdued and Peter/the Entity taunts him about his failure to save his niece and to add insult to injury, traps his soul with that of the rest of the Eastwood-family in Andy's world.
    • Isabella's secret ending merely has you play as her as she discovers that the Entity murdered her uncle.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Rory wields a sword, as is fitting for a heroic knight.
  • Hope Spot: If you manage to get away from Peter/The Entity during the chase sequence, Rory will be transported to a black void where Isabella is being held. Rory/Jeffrey approaches his niece - only for the Entity to cut him down where he stands, mock him for his futile efforts, then take over Isabella and trap Jeffrey's soul in the Andy-world as a new character.
  • Last of His Kind: Rory is the last living rabbit knight, as all the others have either fallen in battle or have become infected by the mushrooms. This mirrors Jeff being the last member of the Eastwood family who isn't infected by the entity. Sadly he does become infected and/or captured in the true ending, making this ultimately a Subverted Trope.
  • Light Is Good: Rory, the game's protagonist and hero, has white fur. He's also implied to represent Jeff Eastwood as he tries (and sadly fails) to protect his niece Isabella from the entity that possessed his brother Thomas.
  • Moon Rabbit: Downplayed. Rory can collect half-moon looking disc that he can use as projectiles against enemies and his sword slash is in the shape of a half-moon. The Infected Knight wields a scythe with a half-moon like blade and uses half-moon shaped projectiles as well.
  • Nintendo Hard: This game is absolutely brutal, with incredibly frustrating enemy placement, tricky platforming and a ludicrous hitbox for Rory that detects damage when you're as much as one step away from an enemy. The fight against the Infected Knight is the cherry on top, with him spamming a nigh undodgeable spin attack that hits like a truck, chucking projectiles at you from the air and summoning Blue Mushrooms randomly that wander across the stage.
  • No Ending: If you actually manage to defeat the Infected Knight the game glitches out and an error message appears on-screen, asking you to restart the game.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Jeffrey took Isabella in after the gruesome death of her father and mother and tried to save her from the Entity. The Entity used Isabella as a conduit to murder Jeffrey and it's implied it trapped Jeffrey in Apple Acres afterwards.
  • Outside-Context Problem: A character like Peter the Pumpkin really has no business being in this game. Add to that that his appearance follows Rory going out of bounds and leads right into a chase sequence when previously the game did not have a mechanic like this and it's clear that something is wrong here.
