Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

On Locked Pages, YMMV.TV Tropes is under both "works" and "other". Wasn't sure if that was correct or not.

Add the film examples at 14943 to the Monster.Film page

And the examples at 15039 are to replace the Dance In The Vampire Bund entry at the Monster.Anime And Manga page

Finally, please put the Butch Cavendish Complete Monster example from The Long ranger YMMV page to the Monster.Disney page

In Maradonia Saga, could we change the line:

  • Schizo Tech: Flying saucers that fire blindness-causing rays and ocean liners co-exist with pre-gunpowder weaponry, horse-drawn vehicles, and a general vaguely late-Medieval/Renaissance atmosphere. Actually, gunpowder (Schwartz Pulver) has been invented by the Big Bads and is used to collapse the walls of castles, but there are no cannons, and the good guys make no attempt to make their own gunpowder. This juxtaposition has no in-work explanation.

to something like:

  • Schizo Tech: Flying saucers that fire blindness-causing rays and ocean liners co-exist with pre-gunpowder weaponry, gunpowder weaponry, horse-drawn vehicles, and a general vaguely late-Medieval/Renaissance atmosphere. This juxtaposition has no in-work explanation.

so as to remove the conversation the line is having with itself? Thanks.

Minor Edit to https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Radar/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic

  • And in the season 2 season finale, we round out the inappropriate humor roster by having Spike, who has been chosen to host Shining Armor's bachelor party, ask the mane six just what one would consist of. The girls are too busy giggling to give any sort of answer.

Is actually incorrect as an example, Spike wasn't asking what a bachelor party was for. He said "Oh yeah, just wait until you see what I have planned for the bachelor party" and the girls were giggling because the wedding was already over (i.e. the joke was that bachelor parties are held before the wedding, not after). It should be removed from the other (already paltry) examples.

I'd forgotten how literal this is [lol]

YMMV/Evon: Needs a "Complete Monster:" added before.

And the WHOLE Homestuck entry should be: [down]

  • From Homestuck: Caliborn, better known by his title, Lord English, killed his own sister through proxy, enslaved the Handmaid after his awakening, murdered the author out of spite in-story, and permanently killed hundreds of largely harmless doomed timeline characters''. And that's worse is that he essentially has no real motivation to do what he does. Power? He's already got plenty of that. Galactic domination? He'd rather destroy it all himself. If what's been said about him indicates anything, it's that he's just doing it to amuse himself, and to completely obliterate his sister and all that she loved.
    • The apple didn't fall far from the tree, apparently. Caliborn's ancestor destroyed hundreds of planets and killed millions unprovoked - and, like his son, for his own amusement. The cherry on top is that if Aranea's narration is to be believed, Caliborn is even worse.

Examples for Monster.Live Action TV. At least four "yes" votes for both, plus one yes for Reed and a maybe for Denko.

  • Blue Bloods:
    • Dick Reed, the Serial Killer/rapist in "Re-Do", is a thoroughly misogynist Smug Snake ("She lies. They all lie," regarding the victim who escaped and got him caught) who gets his conviction overturned because a lab tech screwed up the protocols. He shows zero remorse and no redeemable qualities and finally attempts to perform his usual MO on Erin Reagan, the ADA who convicted him. This backfires fatally. Toby Leonard Moore's performance is so good that it's also the show's first major dose of Nightmare Fuel.
    • Yuri Denko, an arms dealer whom Erin prosecutes in "Working Girls", is a cold-blooded sadist who has no problem executing a man's wife in front of him in their living room over a business dispute. He then threatens the man's children in a courtroom outburst to scare him into not testifying, then has him killed after the threats scare him into running. He puts out a hit on the surviving witness, hounding her mercilessly, and went after her grandma back in Russia, too (the FSB got there first and protected her).

Should WikiSandbox.OTT be added to Locked Pages? I am asking this because I am not exactly sure what it is (the comment in the source makes me think of What Page Types Mean - a wiki page that is used by the software for a specific purpose).

Marvel Please re-add this to the end of the X Men monsters folder; I think it was mistakenly cut:

* Dr. Zander Rice is one of the lead scientists of Weapon X's X-23 project. He has X-23 kept in a padded room except during training sessions or assassination missions, almost kills her with radiation poisoning to trigger her healing factor at the age of seven, and surgically removes her natural claws one at a time, coats them with adamantium, then re-implants them (all of this without anaesthesia) at the same age. He develops a pheromone "trigger" that activates her berserker rage and uses it to get X-23 to kill her martial arts instructor, and leaves her behind on a mission to be killed after he murders the other members of the team so he can claim they were taking fire and had to retreat. After X-23 shows back up alive, Rice then manipulates the head of the X-23 project, who had raised Rice after his father's death, into granting Rice control of the project, at which point Rice then sends X-23 to kill the man, his wife, and son - even though Rice knows the boy is his son, from an affair between Rice and the wife before her marriage (X-23 leaves the child alive). Upon taking over the project, he begins the development of embryos X-24 through X-50, which he intends to sell to the highest bidders, and then taints the one remaining person X-23 cares about, the project scientist who was her surrogate mother, with the trigger pheromone, which causes X-23 to fatally injure the woman - just as she was about to take X-23 and disappear after destroying the project complex. Rice's reasoning for all of this? His father, who worked on the original (Wolverine) Weapon X project was killed by Wolverine when he escaped, and Rice held X-23, who is Logan's genetic double, responsible for Wolverine's killing of his father.

If this could please be added to the literature subpage for Complete Monster:

  • Vortex brings us Karl Adriaan Vorster. A member of a Neo-Nazi Afrikaner movement, Vorster arranges the death of the moderate Haymans government in South Africa, and reinstates full apartheid, arresting and killing those who oppose it. He then tries to reconquer Namibia, taking South Africa into a war with Cuba and Angola in the process. When the war turns against him, Vorster uses a nuclear bomb on an advancing Cuban brigade, then plans to nuke Maputo (capital of Mozambique) and Bulawayo (second largest city in Zimbabwe). When the Cubans start basing their headquarters inside of South African cities and towns, Vorsters orders that they too be subject to nuclear attack. American intervention takes this option out of his hands, so Vorster instead tries to ruin South Africa and the world's economy by contaminating the nation's mines with radioactive dust as part of a last, mad bid to take everyone down with him. Hateful of anyone who isn't an Afrikaner, and responsible for thousands of deaths, Vorster personifies all the worst aspects of The Apartheid Era.

Thank you.

The Best Worst Pokemon Platinum Lets Play needs to be added to Let's Play.

Also, is there some kind of admin injunction on Let's Play? All the unlocking requests have been ignored with no explanation at all.

I would like to request a cut for Hexxus from Ferngully The Last Rainforest on Monster.Western Animation. The thread concensus was that he isn't characterized enough beyond his elemental concept or showed much moral agency.

On the The Bible page there is Beyond the Impossible misuse

1. Deus Angst Machina: Taken to Beyond the Impossible level. This is misuse because it is used for emphasis and nothing more. It should properly be Serial Escalation because Job's hardships continually increase. 2. The Casanova: He had seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines, which is more than anyone else in the Bible. Also if you read the Song of Songs of Solomon, you can see that he sure knows how to sweet talk women

This is also misuse because it is used for emphasis. There is nothing impossible about having a large harem. I recommend removing the wick.

Dead Doll 00 needs also adding to Let's Play, unless we are unlocking that page.

Can you replace the Qasr Bint example in Monster.Literature with this:

  • Qasr Bint from The Thin Executioner is a sadistic cult leader, who believes he alone is the most pure person in the world, and that other must mutilate themselves to earn the favour of the gods. He forces the members of his cult do to this to themselves, kills them, and eats them if the food supplies are low. He also has entire tribes wiped out if he finds them "irredeemable".
