Who the hell has anything for Q that's not Queen though
Previous posters in this thread.

Queen is probably my favorite Q band, but it's not a letter of music I actively seek out.

I'm not very qualified to talk about the Q scene.

I could have put Quiet Sun for Q, but considering they only had one album, it didn't feel right. Same with Quatermass.

Suzi Quatro is another possibility for Q.

There are no Q, X, or Z artists in country music that I know of, so I'm screwed.

Seems like with country it's always just the singer's name and nothing else, from what little I know of the genre.

I'm surprised more people aren't having problems with Z, though people have been bending the rules with Frank Zappa to get by, lol. Besides Zombie Girl the only other Z band I've heard of is ZZ Top, and I'm not into them.

[up] There are bands in country, too, and many of them use something other than the performers' names.

[up]x3 You should check out The Zombies. You may have heard "Time of the Season" somewhere before.

Some folks on the Internet think they're a special GIFT to the world, and others aren't. In this perspective, they're kind of right.

I love their movie soundtracks. Lol, I could probably add more if I counted what was already on the pages I read, but I felt like being random today.

I can think of a few non-Queen/QOTSA bands or artists that start with Q, though most of them are at least semi-obscure: Queen Latifah, The Queers, Quarterflash, and Quicksand...Oh, and if I had wanted to be vain about it, I could have used my own solo project, Quetzalcoatlus.

  • Autechre
  • Boards of Canada
  • Crescent/Movietone
  • Dead Can Dance
  • Brian Eno
  • Fiona Apple
  • Peter Gabriel
  • Robert Hood
  • Ryoji Ikeda
  • Jeff Mills
  • Kate Bush
  • Helmut Lachenmann
  • Morton Feldman
  • Joanna Newsom
  • Moritz Von Oswald
  • Pan Sonic

  • The Residents
  • Snd
  • Talking Heads
  • Underground Resistance
  • Vladislav Delay
  • Wolfgang Voigt
  • X-102
  • Yoko Kanno

And no you don't have to point out to me of there being both X-102 AND Underground Resistance AND Jeff Mills AND Robert Hood. Because U and X were already hard to find as is. For the sake of variety you can pretend that J is Jon Hassell and H is Hype Williams (the band not the dude who makes videos).

K: Kate Nash (Merry Happy, Foundations, We Get On)

The Toughest letters were L (I knew I wanted to go with the Long Blondes, but there's a lot of other cool bands with L), and P.
