Popular With Furries / Video Games

  • AI Dungeon 2, in addition to having many easy ways to let the player transform into whatever they want (or flat out start as whatever they want), is also a tad bit on the quick side when it comes to pushing Fanservice on the player. As such, it tends to be fairly popular with both wholesome and not so wholesome sets of furries.
  • Animal Crossing is popular with furries due to its huge amount of Funny Animal characters. In particular, Series Mascot (as of Animal Crossing: New Leaf) Isabelle has quite the fanbase due to her cute appearance and perky attitude. Ankha has also gained a similar following with the furry fandom after the release of New Leaf and only grew larger when New Horizons came out.
  • Animal Jam is popular among feral furries, thanks to the characters being Civilized Animals that are mostly quadruped.
  • AnotherEidos of Dragon Vein R is essentially Tokyo Afterschool Summoners if it embraced the Hotter and Sexier aspects of Gacha Games to the point of being NSFW, as well as being a strategy RPG instead of one based on card games. Just like with Housamo though, it too has amassed a large following in the furry fandom thanks to its sizable cast of anthropomorphic characters, complete with loads of fanart. Made all the more effective thanks to the game's...spicier content involving them, let's just say.
  • Arknights boasts a huge roster, which includes a few characters that are Little Bit Beastly and some that are outright anthropomorphic. so it's no surprise that some members of the Furry Fandom and kemono communities and are quite enamored over this game, with Hung, Mountain, Aak, Waai Fu, and Lee being the more popular playable Funny Animal characters from it.
  • Awesomenauts has a lot of Funny Animal characters like Froggy G, Leon Chameleon, Yuri and Smiles, but it really swung for the furry fences with the release of Penny Fox, complete with her Cheerleader skin.
  • The Banjo-Kazooie features a bunch of talking animals and Funny Animal characters, drawing in furries. Naturally the titular characters are the most popular, especially Banjo due to being... well a big bear. But Kazooie is no slouch either, for people whom like Bird Girls, especially ones that are snarky.
  • Battlerite has a deer girl named Blossom among its cast of playable champions, who is somewhere between Fauns and Satyrs and Little Bit Beastly in terms of design. She probably has the most fanart of any character.
  • Battletoads is fairly popular with amphibian fans, as well as lovers of the Teenage Mutant Samurai Wombats formula.
  • It's sometimes joked that Bubsy only continues to avoid becoming completely irrelevant due to some furries liking him, even in spite of his grating characterization and the questionable overall quality of his games. Or more accurately, most people who like Bubsy, whether they like him ironically or unironically, are furries.
  • Bloody Roar is naturally known for this, seeing that every fighter has a beast form. The third game also had a Debug Mode that could be accessed with a cheat code in the Japanese version that could be used to pose the characters in any way you wanted, causing it to be Dummied Out in other versions of the game for obvious reasons.
  • Blue Dragon has the titular character, along with the other Shadows, presented as (for the most part) muscular humanoid creatures sprung from the protagonists' own, well, shadows. They get healthy amounts of fanart despite the modern obscurity of the franchise, with their anime portrayals only helping to fuel the fire.
  • One of the reasons Bomberman Hero hasn't been forgotten entirely (aside from its killer soundtrack) is thanks to the low-key popularity of Natia, the curvy pink cat girl who wears a midriff-revealing outfit with a short skirt.
  • The Breath of Fire series has a world populated with tribes of various Funny Animals and Beast Men living alongside humans. Besides the Winged Humanoids, there are wolf-people, dog-people, tiger-people, ox-people, mole-people, armadillo-people, monkey-people, rabbit-people, fish-people, frog-people, plant-people, and one recurring snake-woman. Many of these varied characters make up your own party in each game.
  • Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead lets you mutate your character into various animalistic forms if you find or brew some mutagen. Due to being a roguelike with the graphical limitations typical for the genre, your character's appearance is mostly left to your imagination, leading certain players to draw their mutant survivors while coming up with a backstory explaining why the character became a mutant.
  • Chicory: A Colorful Tale is a game about cute anthropomorphic animals that deals with issues of mental health in a fairly graceful manner, features an in-game drawing minigame, and as noted above, has a following with the LGBT crowd. Of course this would be a slam dunk with furries.
  • Like many Rareware platformers, Conker's Bad Fur Day is popular with furries due to its Funny Animal characters (mainly Conker and his girlfriend).
  • Crash Bandicoot:
    • Crash himself is one of the few non-Sonic mascot characters with a steady furry fanbase. In particular, Crash, Tawna, Coco, and several of the other characters are popular amongst furries.
    • More recently, while underused in the PS2 era he initially debuted in, Crunch has been getting a lot of attention after his reappearance in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, especially with bara/muscle-oriented furs. Tiny and Dingodile sometimes hit it off with furries as well, but Crunch has taken the lead on that front.
  • Felicia from Darkstalkers is very popular due to being a Cat Girl and the fact that she appears to be almost naked, with only her stripes covering her naughty parts. Jon Talbain/Gallon is also really popular especially among canine-loving or wolf-loving furries. Unfortunately, due to the fact that Capcom of Japan seems to ignore Talbain, this has upset some fans of Talbain, with some fans outright stating about how they prefer Talbain over Felicia.
  • While Dead by Daylight is almostly entirely populated with humans, two of its Killers have anthro mythological figures as skins. Namely, the Trapper can become The Krampus, and the Oni can become a Minotaur. Expect furries to generally gravitate to those while playing, or to... creatively use their polygonal models in fan-made images and animatiions.
  • Dillon's Rolling Western has a cult following, but most of it is focused on the third game, Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers, which turns the player's Mii into one of four possible anthropomorphic animals to take part in the story.
  • While not that noticeable, there is a furry fandom around the Disgaea series, especially over the Prinnies.
  • Don't Starve: There are multiple animalistic non-human survivors, but caprine imp Wortox easily gets the most attention from furries. This might owe to most of the others being children while he's an adult note , as a notable portion of said attention involves some form of Self-Fanservice.
  • Donkey Kong Country:
    • Naturally, Donkey Kong has quite the number of fans, especially bara ones, thanks to his muscular and generally masculine figure.
    • Candy Kong and post-Plot-Relevant Age-Up Tiny Kong have a lot of fanboys.
    • King K. Rool — and the Kremling Krew in general — have a dedicated following among scalies, with many of them indulging in Self-Fanservice and reinterpreting K. Rool's rotund figure to turn him into a Big Beautiful Man. And then there's Kalypso, who is a big busty crocodile woman with a big pink afro, and naturally has quite a few fans.
  • Dota 2: Hoodwink, an anthro squirrel, is quite popular with furries.
  • Dust: An Elysian Tail has a canine Funny Animal protagonist, as well as some Funny Animal supporting characters, such as Fidget the nimbat, Haley the bunny, and Ginger the canine. At the time of its release, Dust was one of the few anthro-focused Metroidvanias.
  • Ecco the Dolphin is popular with feral fans for its xenofictional elements, and there's a tendency for people deeper in the fandom to have a cetaceansona or other cetacean OCs of some kind.
  • The 2021 Japanese indie game ECHOLOCAUTION involves 4 adorable bat siblings (Hina, Hallo, Ohiki, and Usagi) going on an exciting night hunt while avoiding dangerous predators (mainly a giant owl). However, their mother (known as "Mom") has gained a small following in the furry fandom (mainly from bat furries) due her curvaceous design and the largest of the bat family.
  • The The Elder Scrolls franchise has the Khajiit and the Argonians as playable anthropomorphic races, which has naturally led to the series forming a pretty dedicated following with furries and scalies. (Also, Lusty Argonian Maid. Enough said.)
  • EverQuest II introduced the Ratonga, a species of anthropomorphic rats. They've since become popular with furries.
  • F-Zero has Bio Rex, who is, as his name suggests, a biologically-engineered T. rex humanoid who participates in the Grand Prix to both prove his superiority over mankind and have a "taste" of his competition. He has a small but passionate fanbase who are into both his design and personality.
  • Final Fantasy has quite the furry following:
    • The giant, purple-furred Behemoths, which are mini-bosses prior to VII and mid to late game encounter monsters by VII onwards, have an unusual fanbase, and are more likely to be anthropomorphized by bara artists.
    • Chocobos (large rideable birds) and Moogles (fluffy, flying mole-bats) from the Final Fantasy series are quite popular among furries for the very cute designs. Tonberries, the franchise's recurring monster, are also popular in the furry fandom and fan art of them tend to make them very cute.
    • Final Fantasy IX has the Burmecians, which are a race of anthropomorphic rats. Thanks to their clean design, likable personalities, having one as a party member, and basically going against all stereotypes that most media portray rats as, furries instantly liked them.
    • The Ronso in Final Fantasy X are a race of tall, muscular anthropomorphic felines that are a Proud Warrior Race Guy (and Gal) clan with a horn on their heads. You get one as a party member, and while the race in general play only a small role in the story, their sense of honor helped make the race quite likable among furry fans.
    • Final Fantasy XI has the Mithra race, which is composed of mostly females (males are rare and thus are not playable). They have many traits of cats including their ears, tail, and fur while mostly having a near human face. Mithra grew quite popular among furry players.
    • Final Fantasy XIV, the Spiritual Successor to XI, have the Miqo'te race, which is basically like the Mithra, but with more emphasis on the Cat Girl trope by downplaying the feline features for a more human look. Naturally, furries loved the designs and the race's popularity only grew higher when male Miqo'te became playable. And then it exploded once the new race, the Hrothgar (essentially XIV's version of the Ronso), were added. The Viera, a race of bunny women, also gained huge popularity with furry fans, which again grew even moreso when the Endwalker expansion gave the option to play male Viera.
    • The Ivalice Alliance series is home to a cornucopia of races for furry fans to latch onto, as made evident below:
  • The Five Nights at Freddy's franchise is heavily popular with furries, almost memetically so. While the series' staple characters are animatronics, them being mostly animal-based is what keeps furries interested in the series. While some fans tend to depict them as living, breathing Funny Animals, others pretty much lean on the animatronic side in a whole 'nother level and make them into alluring Robot Girls or outright Sexbots. Scott Cawthon seems to be aware of this, as in the third game the dude on the phone mentions cosplay and says that he might have you wear a "furry suit".
  • Fortnite: Has quite a lot of skins/outfits that are either animal-related or outright anthropomorphic, with practically every season and chapter having a new one to add to the roster. Any skin or outfit that has is wearing an animal costume, has a Animal Motif going on or has animal accessories immediatley gets targeted for furrification.
    • Cuddle Team Leader, is probably one of the famous furry skins in the series, mostly because it's a woman wearing a pink form-fitting suit and a matching pink large teddy bear-like mascot head. The many variations of the Cuddle Team Leader or skins that looks similar have also been very popular with the fans.
      • Raven Team Leader — a fusion between Cuddle Team Leader and Raven skins — quickly became adored by the fans for her interesting and unique design as, unlike her progenitors, she's incredibly expressive thanks to having full-glowing facial features instead of eyes glowing from the hood (a la Taokaka).
    • Drift (his fox mask version), and DJ Yonder are often subjected to furryfication within the furry community due to their outfits being themed after a fox and a bovine respectively.
      • Fellow DJ, DJ Bop is a human wearing a pink alpaca costume. Although you'd have a hard time finding out as more people prefer her with the costume on, which happens to be a pretty vibrant, cute, and appealing design, most if not all artist outright make her into an anthro pink llama.
    • Dire, Hybrid's dragon transformation, Polar Patroller, Fennix, Dodger, and Thunder have all been receiving some love from the furry fandom as well, especially the former four.
    • Meowscles is also very much liked by the furry fandom due to being... well, a very muscular cat man. Even if the design is very silly (being a very cartoonish cat head on a strong, manly body), it's still well-liked with many fans even seeing the silly head as a plus. Meowscles fans practically rejoiced when Purradise Meowscles was introduced in Season 4: Chapter 3, giving him an open hawaiian shirt, shorts and long flowing hair that makes him look even more Hunk-ish
      • This went double for his sister, Meow Skulls, a much more traditionally designed cat furry with a punk aesthetic who received fanart within hours of her reveal.
    • Pack Leader Highwire is an alternate style for the Highwire outfit (which came from Chapter 4 Season 2's battle pass), that pretty much overshadowed everything else about the skins and its other alternate styles. While canonically she is a human female wearing a stylized, cartoonish, and inanimate wolf mask, practically every art depicts her as being an anthropomorphic wolf girl (in a similar vein to DJ Bop).
    • Wendell is an anthropomorphic and rather toony-styled mountaineer wolf that is liked by a lot of fans for his endearingly cute and friendly design. He is both derogatorily and lovingly compared to the Nestle Cookie Crisp's wolf mascot Chip.
    • Oscar, a big, bad and bossy tiger and The Society's newest member introduced in Chapter 5: Season 1. Became an instant hit with the fandom, Being a sharply-dressed (both figuratively and somewhat literally), muscular, rich, and wealthy tiger. Thanks to his role as being one of the season's antagonist also lead to be bit of an evil is sexy reaction from fans.
      • Its telling that the leaked picture had Peter Griffin in a Heroic Build alongside Oscar (the latter of which was unnamed at the time), yet a good number of people were more interested in knowing who the tiger was.
    • When Cerberus was a part of the leaks for the Greek mythology-themed season, many fans quickly latched onto him thanks to his unique and rather attractive design. With many being almost distraught at the thought that the skin would never see the light of day, but needless to say when the skin was finally released in Chapter 5, Season 2 fans were absolutely ecstatic.
  • Even Dark Fantasy works such as those created by FromSoftware can have furry fans, as evident below:
    • The Dark Souls series in particular is home to creatures like the Bell Gargoyles, Capra Demons, and the Dragonoid forms most of all. Dark Souls III's incarnation of the Dragonoids, in particular, is usually subjugated to Self-Fanservice due to its uncanny design. There's also Seath the Scaleless and Black Dragon Kalameet, who each have a notable following from furries and scalies alike and are also subject to Self-Fanservice from time to time (like an extra pair of eyes for Kalameet to make the latter three-eyed).
    • Bloodborne gets this treatment too, in no part thanks to its bestial transformations (many of which are werewolf-based). Vicar Amelia, the Cleric Beast, and even the Great Ones themselves seem to be the most popular characters when it comes to furries.
    • Elden Ring has Blaidd, a half-wolf Guts expy who's also one of the coolest and amicable NPCs in the game. Surely enough, he's got plenty of furries thirsting over him.
  • Ghosts 'n Goblins / Gargoyle's Quest:
    • Red Arremer, a.k.a. Firebrand, has a surprisingly good presence in the furry community despite his signature games — Gargoyle's Quest, Gargoyle's Quest II, and Demon's Quest — being relatively obscure.
    • Arma is not too far behind either, often being paired with the Gargoyle's Quest series' protagonist.
  • Even though Gigantic is officially dead, there still live fans of the Funny Animal characters like Lord Knossos, Charnok, Voden, and especially Mozu, to name a few examples.
  • Recurring Google Doodle character Momo (an anthropomorphic black cat wizard who protects the Wizarding School she attends from ghosts) has proven to be fairly popular with furries, especially after the Halloween 2016 doodle and its 2020 sequel. Her adorable and simple design really helps.
  • The Kirby series, if you count CartoonCreatures as animals, as well as its legion of more blatant animal characters such as King DeDeDe (a penguin), Pon and Con (a raccoon and fox respectively), Bonkers (a hammer-weilding gorilla), the various animal friends from Kirbys Dreamland 2 and Kirbys Dreamland 3, and the list goes on. This is in large part due to their very charming and adorable designs thanks to the cutesy artstyle the series is famous for.
  • Klonoa:
    • While the titular character's species isn't known (fans refer to him as a "Cabbit"), Klonoa is popular with the furry community (especially in Japan) due to his adorable design. Especially his redesign for Lunatea's Veil where he's given a much older design.
    • Similar to Klonoa, Guntz shares similar fans as Klonoa due to being a stern but cool wolf.
    • The King of Sorrow from Lunatea's Veil is also beloved by furries due to not only sharing a similar design as Klonoa. But due to his depressing backstory due to being isolated by Lunatea who wants to forget about sorrow.
  • Kingdom Hearts:
  • League of Legends has quite a large subset of animalistic characters among its large cast. Following a retcon, most of the humanoid ones (including Ahri, Wukong, Nami, Rengar and Xayah and Rakan) were recategorised as a single, highly diverse species of animal folk called the Vastaya, who vary from being a Little Bit Beastly to Beast Man. However, there are also the diminutive Yordles (the males of which look like anthropomorphic hamsters or squirrels), the Ascended god-men of Shurima (Azir the falcon, Nasus the jackal and Renekton the crocodile), the elemental god-siblings of the Freljord (Anivia the ice phoenix, Volibear the thunder bear, and Ornn the ram-like blacksmith) and the Kindred Lamb and Wolf, especially the Moe but deadly Lamb.
  • The Legend of Zelda:
  • The Little Tail Bronx universe (comprised of Tail Concerto, Solatorobo: Red the Hunter and the Fuga: Melodies of Steel saga) is beloved by furries due to taking place in a Ghibli-esque Adventure-Friendly World populated by dog people, cat people, and the occasional big robot or tank. It helps that the company that develops the series, CyberConnect2, is actually rather involved in the Japanese kemono scene — Fuga and its sequel in particular even feature guest artwork by several popular furry artists as in-game visuals.
  • Mega Man X naturally falls into this, being full of robotic Funny Animals known as Reploids/Mavericks.
    • Armored Armadillo and Sting Chameleon are the most popular with furries, while Neon Tiger gets an entire Wikifur page dedicated to him.
    • Magma Dragoon is an outstanding example of a Draconic Humanoid reploid who also has a notable fanbase. He also stands out for being one of the few mavericks who ties in heavily with the X4 story, and is especially pursued by X and Zero for his heinous act of crashing a floating city into a population center.
    • Burn Rooster from X8 is another noteworthy character. Like Magma Dragon, he uses martial arts in his fighting style, and like Blaziken from Pokémon, is a fire-themed fighting chicken. This has invited the idea of Blaziken and Burn Rooster dueling one another in animated shorts.
  • Monster Hunter:
    • The franchise at large is popular for the same reasons as Pokémon, though it tends to be geared more towards scalies due to the wide variety of wyverns at hand, alongside some choice Elder Dragons. That being said, having small intelligent cats (known as Felynes/Palicoes), as well as rideable dogs (known as Palamutes), following you around and helping out is a big deal even to non-furry fans.
    • Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin introduces a female Felyne named "Tsukino", Kyle's astute Palico. She quickly caught attention from furries due to her design contaning some human features (notably her long pink hair) combined with a dose of cuteness. Alongside being one of the few Feylne in the franchise that is able to talk like humans.
  • M.U.G.E.N is a fighting game engine where any skilled enough creator can make fighters however they like, so there are bound to be many characters of varying degrees of furriness and scaliness in the community. These include bestial characters, of both biped and quadruped variety, from preexisting fiction alongside original furry characters and self-inserts.
  • Neopets has a following in the furry community to a more limited extent than most works listed here, but it definitely exists. This is especially true in the case of Zafaras, who have more fan-art among that sector than any other pet species due to having a slightly more humanoid appearance. When more humanized neopets began to appear, it gained even more steam. On the other hand, Tormund and Roberta from Neopets: The Darkest Faerie have quite a few fans in the furry community.
  • Night in the Woods immediately spiked in popularity once its Kickstarter campaign began and received another rise in popularity after its official release, possibly due to the furry fandom falling in love with the game's premise. It's a contemporary slice-of-life adventure game with some supernatural elements, and it takes place in a rural American town but in a World of Funny Animals. The player character is Mae, an anthropomorphic cat. Her friends are; Bea: an alligator, Gregg: a fox, Angus: a bear, and Germ: a bird. There's also a large LGBT furry fanbase due to Mae being stated to be Pansexual by Word of God and Gregg and Angus are a gay couple.
  • Ōkami, has you play the Sun Goddess Amaterasu. Now taking the form of a white wolf, naturally this has gained quite a bit of interest from the furry fandom, whom due to being a goddess is usually given a very heavenly body when anthropomorphized in fanart. The game also has some similarities to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, also is popular with furries. Although there isn't any transformation in this game, you do get to play as a wolf for the entire game. In fact there's actually a subset of fans whom seemingly ship Amaterasu with Wolf!Link.
  • Paladins:
    • Pip the anthropomorphic fennec fox is well-liked by the furry fandom for his lovable rogue personality and charming voice.
    • Drogoz, to a lesser extent, is also pretty popular, with the tendency to be depicted more as a hunk-ish sort.
    • Moji also turned out be popular as she's the game's first female anthropomorphic animal who is also a cute nerdy rabbit girl.
    • Pepper, a skin that makes Pip into a Distaff Counterpart, with a spicy personality, as well as still being a fennec fox.
  • The Parappa The Rapper series feature anthropomorphic animals that wear clothes. The furry fandom especially like Lammy, with or without Katy, her best friend who she is paired with in a majority of fan works. Although Parappa himself isn't far behind on the popularity either.
  • Persona:
    • Despite the subseries not having many furry characters, Morgana — who also happens to be your very first party member in Persona 5 — and a couple of Personas are, with the former being especially popular with the furries. The playable character in question is an anthrpomorphic cat, swearing that he isn't one.
    • On that topic, some Personas you can get happen to be Funny Animal characters, such as Neko Shogun (a short-sized cat in samurai armor), Cait Sith (basically Puss in Boots) and Ose (a scantly-clad cheetah man in a cape wielding twin swords).
  • Pokémon is a huge hit with the Furry Fandom, with high amounts of fan art from the fandom and it not being a rare sight for a furry to use a Pokémon species as their fursona. Pokémon Sword and Shield in particular gained popularity with the furry fandom thanks to the Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics, which essentially canonized the longstanding relationship between furries, Pokémon, and macrophilia, causing a noticeable surge in cute giants, gentle giants, giant women, kaiju, and everything in-between of the Pokémon variety.
  • Pseudoregalia's protagonist Sybil, an anthropomorphic Statuesque Stunner Third-Person Seductress whose default costume lacks almost anything below the waist, has proven to be quite popular with furries.
  • The female Lombax character Clank encounters in the reveal trailer for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart—subsequently named Rivet in the Official Trailer—attracted a large swath of furry fans almost as soon as she appeared on-screen. This tweet by Xavier Coelho-Kostolny, one of the game’s designers confirms that this was the reaction he was hoping for, and he regularly retweets fanart of her as well.
Even though a lot's changed since I was on the project, I'm very happy I was able to contribute in some small way to the Furry Awakening that's going to happen when the new Ratchet & Clank drops.
  • Ratten Reich is a game following a world war between several nations of Funny Animal, including the titular Rat Empire, a Kingdom of Mice, an empire of Cockroaches, and an empire of Moniter Lizards. The mascot of the game is a Rat woman who enlisted in the Reich's army after her sister was killed in a surprise attack. The game hasn't fully released yet, but already furries are taking notice.
  • Ring Fit Adventure features the muscular Draconic Humanoid Dragaux as the game's main antagonist. Suffice it to say, he has since garnered quite a number of certain fans.
  • Scaler is the perfect game for Scaly fans. It is about a boy who gets transformed into a lizard-man superhero and battles reptilian monsters to save the world from an invasion of evil lizard people. The protagonist's base form gets the most fan art by far, helping spread awareness of the game.
  • Sdorica has quite a dedicated furry fanbase. The game's annual popularity polls should give you an idea: Every year at least one furry character made it to the top 3 of the polls, with 2nd and 3rd year polls being won by furry characters. There's also Creator Worship as a factor: Anytime a certain well-known furry artist draws a character, even portraits for minor NPCs, the fans will gush over it.
  • Second Life has a thriving furry community due to the ability to play as animal characters, both anthropomorphic and feral.
  • The 16- and 32-bit installments in the Shining Series contained numerous non-human characters which could be recruited, including (but not limited to): centaurs, wolflings, dragonnutes, and birdmen. They even contained several lesser common varieties of animals as anthropomorphic creatures. Once the PlayStation 2 era came, this trait of the franchise grew far less pronounced in favor of humans and elves, save for the occasional wolfling.
  • Of the currently revealed playable characters, Shot One Universal League character Kiera has garnered a considerable amount of furry fans while the game was still in active development.
  • Sly Cooper stars a series of Funny Animal characters. Sly and several other characters have a fanbase amongst furries. Dev Madan, the games' character designer, was even a guest of honor at Anthrocon 2012.
  • Sonic the Hedgehog:
    • Sonic, arguably one of the most popular game series in the furry fandom, is one of those series that is controversial due to furries. Some fans hate furries, some furries hate Sonic, some people became furries due to Sonic, while some furries were drawn to Sonic for its characters. Nevertheless, the furry presence is strong in the fandom. This especially common with fans of Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie Comics), who tended to combine many different art styles of furry animals before the reboot.
    • Tails, Amy, Shadow, Rouge and Vanilla are amongst the most popular with furries, but a lot of the characters get similar love as well.
    • Vector the Crocodile is by far one of the most popular Sonic characters with the Furry Fandom, thanks to having a good balance between a design that still wouldn't be out of place when compared to the rest of the cast in the video game series, while being just distinct enough to strike a chord with a good number of scalies. He's also a hit with the bara crowd, who tend to induce Self-Fanservice on the crocodile by giving him a big and muscular body.
    • Big the Cat and Storm the Albatross are no slouches in the furry popularity department either, albeit downplayed, thanks to both of them having a similar design balance like Vector, and like him are also subject to Self-Fanservice by being portrayed as Big Beautiful Men. The former has even been shipped with the aforementioned crocodile occasionally.
  • Soul Series has Lizardman as one of the fighters from Soul Calibur onwards. Soul Calibur VI adds him as one of the base designs for custom fighters, allowing you to essentially remake the entire cast as lizardmen (and thanks to the vast number of customization options, make them as strange- or perverted-looking as the engine allows) if you feel like it.
  • Spiral Knights features Gremlins (no not the ones you're thinking of), who the furries have come to admire thanks to their designs and lore (whatever lore there is anyways).
  • Spiritfarer has recently gained a small furry fandom around it thanks to the Funny Animal characters, with Gwen being the most popular out of them all.
  • Splatoon:
    • This game's appeal is that it stars cute anthropomorphic and humanoid sea creatures. The in-universe pop acts, those being the Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, and Deep Cut in particular, rose to such heights in popularity that they eventually got their own concerts in the real world.
      • Speaking of Deep Cut, Big Man, its third member, is a bipedal manta ray who's been receiving fanart from Splatsville posts or otherwise, some of which would not look out of place in the Bara community since they portray him as a Big Beautiful Man.
    • Ironically, the Salmonids — despite leaning much more into Funny Animal territory than the Inklings and Octolings — only have a shred of their popularity in the furry community. But despite that, they still have a notable presence within it.
  • Spyro the Dragon:
    • By definition, the franchise attracts a lot of dragon fans. Spyro: A Hero's Tail (which introduced more dragons and a slightly less cartoony artstyle) and especially The Legend of Spyro (which is more story-centric and has a more realistic feel, along with introducing the ever-popular but still Base-Breaking Character Cynder) are the two most popular titles with scalies.
    • Hunter and Bianca have also have their fans since they're both Funny Animals.
    • The Updated Re-release, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, caused a massive flare up among the furry fandoms with the redesign of Spyro (though more on the subtle side), and especially with the redesigned dragons of the first game, who now all have entirely unique designs and personalities (if only minor). In particular, the first Beast Maker Dragon, Bubba, got a lot of attention with the fandom for his hunky design, followed by Nestor, the first dragon Spyro meets, who has a very heroic build. Toys for Bob seems to be entirely aware of how many childhood fans back in '99 then are furries now and directed their marketing appropriately.
      • These same redesigned dragons have also attracted a sizeable LGBT Fanbase almost on the same scale as Bowser, if the surge in fanart and Rule 34 for quite a few of them is anything to go by.
    • Elora's less humanoid redesign has also been well-received, as have Bianca and Hunter's own redesigns.
  • In StarCraft, the Zerg have a fan base for those who like scalies from outer space. Hydralisks have an Ugly Cute snake person body type and Infested Kerrigan even treats the Hunter Killer strain like her own personal pets. Dehaka has a bipedal dinosauroid figure that has drawn fans as well.
  • Star Fox:
  • Super Mario Bros.:
    • Bowser is by far one of the most popular characters in both the furry, bara, and LGBT fandoms, to the point that an entire day is dedicated to the koopa king (specially Bowser Day, which is held on August 4th yearly), but is also generally popular at large with scalies. "Hipster Bowser" (also known as "Nerd/Nerdy Bowser") from a Japanese 3DS commercial starring Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is also popular.
    • Yoshi and their species are also hugely popular with furries and scalies.
    • While not as popular as Bowser, Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings have fandoms of their own (especially Ludwig and Iggy).
    • The cat costumes from Super Mario 3D World have gained more of a following than other animal-based costumes, such as the Tanuki Suit. Peach's, Rosalina's, and Bowser's designs are especially popular.
    • The Broodals are a Koopaling-like group of anthropomorphic rabbits. They have a fandom amongst furries, especially Hariet.
    • Elephant Mario in Super Mario Bros. Wonder was instantly beloved by the furry fandom thanks to him being an anthropomorphic elephant rather than an elephant-themed costume like the Frog, Tanooki and Cat suits. Predictably, he would very soon be subjugated to furry fanart with even the other playable characters following suit by being designed in similar ways as Elephant Mario. And to no one's shock, Bowser's in on the elephant fun as well.
  • The luchador wrestlers: King, King II, Armor King and Armor King II from the Tekken series are very popular with the furry crowd, thanks to wearing Jaguar masks (or it could actually be their heads...), being incredibly muscular wrestlers (with both Kings being topless sometimes) also helps with their popularity. Another factor that helps is that some customization options in certain entries allow the Kings and Armor Kings to be full-on jaguar men.
  • Terraria:
    • The Zoologist's introduction to Terraria with the At Journey's End update saw her attracting a portion of the furry fandom to the game's fan community due to her werefox status and her cuteness.
    • The Witch Doctor gained newfound popularity with furries and especially scalies after the Colbert Bump the game received, owing most of all to his tribal design and being a Token Heroic Orc compared to his fellow Lihzahrds.

  • Tokyo Afterschool Summoners includes a great number of anthropomorphic animals in the list of summonable characters, and you'll be seeing a lot of fanart of them left and right. And knowing the target audience, you can probably guess as to which of these furry characters tend to get more attention.
  • Ms. Fortune from the obscure 1996 game Toon Struck has gained her own set of fans in the furry community. Helps that she's both a cat and a fortune teller, complete with a seductive attitude and voiced by Tress Macneille.
  • Toontown Online, with the majority of its "Toon" characters being anthro creatures (players have a choice of creating dog, cat, rabbit, monkey, horse and bear avatars), was a gateway drug for many furries who grew up in the early-to-mid 2000s.

  • Undertale:
    • Undertale immediately became popular with furries as soon as the first demo came out, especially the adorable goat mom Toriel, but the rest of the cast of characters followed when the full game was released, and the skeleton brothers Sans and Papyrus were often a gateway between the furry fandom and skeleton fandom. This has been immediately addressed by the creator Toby Fox when he realized that after the release of the demo, urging the rule 34 artist to tag their works "AC:#UnderTail", and included several jokes about the furries in the final game.
Sans: (after you buy a hot dog) ...you really like hot animals, don't you? hey, i'm not judging. i'd be out of a job without folks like you.
    • There's also Toriel's ex-husband Asgore, a really huge goat guy with a pair of massive horns, manly facial hair, and an armor that would suggest you should stay away from him, who is the King of all monsters. Despite his imposing figure, he is loved by everyone under his rule. Thanks to Asgore's positive personality traits, he gained quite a following in the Furry Fandom with many fans drawing him as either a Big Beautiful Man, a massive Hunk, or both.
    • There's also anthropomorphic characters that the fandom began to latch on to: Undyne the fish woman, Alphys the lizard, the canine royal guards, Asriel the goat, the Nice Cream Guy who's a blue bunny, Burgerpants the cat(?) and many more.
  • Online Multiplayer Game VRChat is full of this trope. Seriously, the asinine amount of players wearing avatars that are either Little Bit Beastly, Funny Animals, or straight up Beast Men is insane.
  • WolfQuest is a wolf simulator and edutainment game. It attracts a lot of wolf fans. Multiplayer can be used for roleplaying.
  • The 2017 remake of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap managed to draw in a good number of modern day players turned furry fans thanks to its cute art style and cast of anthropomorphic characters including all the transformations for Hu-Man (and Hu-Girl, to be technical), Pig-Man (a Pig Man), and the Boss Dragons.
  • Flammie, a fluffy dragon creature, from the World of Mana games is very popular with furries. For many furries it is the only thing they even know about the series. Legend of Mana character Sierra also has her fair share of fans.
    • The Trials of Mana remake brought the series back into the limelight and, in addition to the aforementioned Flammie, introduced us to the Ferolian beastmen, including playable character Kevin. To say nothing of the 6.5 Richter scale boner sounds invoked by Belladonna.
  • World of Warcraft has some furry following, since some of the sentient races in the game's universe resemble anthropomorphic animals. Among the playable races, there are the minotaur-like Tauren, the werewolf-like Worgen, the panda-like Pandaren, and the fun-sized, fox-like Vulpera, with the Dragonflight expansion now adding Draconic Humanoids into the mix. Among the NPC races there are Furbolgs (bear-people), Gnolls (hyena-people), Quilboar (boar-people), Tuskarr (walrus-people), Murlocs (fish-people), Naga (sea-Snake People) and many more.
  • XCOM: The Viper race has always been by far the most popular in the community, for obvious reasons; Its a One-Gender Race of chest-heavy snake people. The announcement of XCOM: Chimera Squad, featuring a heroic Viper among its main cast, was acclaimed and celebrated by fans for this very reason.
  • Yo-kai Watch:
  • Zenless Zone Zero has both Von Lycaon of Victoria Housekeeping Co. and Ben from Belobog Industries. Aside from them both being male demi-humans and having the most anthropomorphic animal features in general, Von Lycaon is a highly muscular, refined, and stylish butler with a penchant for leather straps and muzzles, while Ben is a gigantic, portly but agile, and very muscular bear with a gangster-like appearance and behavior, despite being an official accountant when not Hollow-diving.
